The waxing moon was said to be a time of enchantment. The girl strolling alone through the gardens could feel the rise in energy. The illumination given off by the celestial body guided her through the unoccupied garden. Her light steps upon the crisp grass were nearly inaudible. She wore a black dress that fell to her ankles. it was loose fitting and drapped off the edge of her shoulder. The sleeves were loose and almost completely concealed her arms. Along the shoulder line of the dress were intricate and intrigueing patterns. All togetther the girl seemed to have an air of mystery about her. She seemed to be apart of the twilight scenery. As if she belonged in this nightly environment.

Violet eyes scanned the area. groups of trees and garden beds filled were scattered about. All were appropiately surrounded by patches of grass and walk ways . A bed of roses to her left a mixture of perinnials to her right. Everything seemed to be planned to be just right. As she walked the moonlight appeared to dance and tiwrl amoung the different surfaces of the garen. Her eyes followd the game of light and shadows. No breeze or wind blew through the air; it was a still night indeed.

In her right hand she held a pair of simple sandles. She choose to walk in the grass; enjoying the feel of the grass below her feet. This area reminded her of the temple. It contradicted her view of the school itself, which made her think of the city. She was relaxed in either atmoshpere and both brought her a different kind of comfort.

Finally she came upon what she was looking for; a weeping willow. The tree seemed to stand alone with a bed of flowers. It wasn't the largest one she had seen but it was large enough to comfortably fit a few people underneath its dangling branches. The girl walked up to it. The branches came pretty low to the ground and if someone was really looking, they could probably spot her sitting against the trunk. With her hands she gently pushed the slender branches aside and walked in to its secret area. It wasn't hard for her to get comfotable. She sat with her back and head leaning against the trunk of the tree and her legs stright ahead of her and crossed at the ankles.

In the city it didn't really affect her as much, but when she was in a nature based environment she couldn't help but to venture out on nights like this. Her violet eyes stared at the branches and could see the moonight flooding through the spaces. A mixture of light a shadow showed upon her face. Unknowingly she began to hum. It wasn't a happy up beat melody, nor a sad depressed one. Instead her humming seemed to blendin to the nightadding to its mystery; giving the night in the garden and unreal feel.

The cool night air told the summer time how soon it had to grace this part of the planet with it's presecence, and soon it would leave for another year. This disheartned the young Greg Green, for it also meant that this would be one of the last times; he was able to sleep outside against the elements of the night.

Still as of now he was enjoying his sleep, a light sleep, for Greg had adopted that ability whenver he slept in the branches of the surounding trees. True it was inpossible to sleep within the bows of the weeping willow, but there were more suitable trees close by as well. An Arbutis not accostimed to the enviroment, but still growing strong held the six foot two blond.

He was awoken by the sweet sound of the humming, that had danced around his ears before slowly waking him up, and there he spotted her.

For a second he thought he was still asleep, and that this was all but a quiet dream. Still if it was a dream than surely he would be able to play the part.

He turned his body till he was sitting on a branch, and slowly he lowered himself down, carefull to not hurt the tree, or himself. He made not a sound on his landing, but the tree's branches created a soft swishing sound. Almost like the wind it was, but the wind was not here tonight.

Expecting that he had disturbed the young women, he spoke before he was attacked as if he was a pervert or worse. He had no intention of upsetting yonder damsel.

"That was beautiful."

The girl realized she was humming and a faint smile appeared on her face. Shizuka bent her knees to her chest and wraped her arms around them. Her head rested on her arms and her eyes closed. She didn't need her eyes to enjoy her surroundings. She had become as still as the night itself.

A sudden swishing of branches near by caused her to open her eyes with alarm. She knew there was no wind out tonight , which meant she wasn't alone. Her arms dropped to her side as she quickly stared in the direction of the sound. It wasn't hard for her to spot the large frame with blonde hair. Her violet eyes held an intimidating glance; besides she didn't know if he would be friend or foe.

Greg:"That was beautiful."

She didn't hear any menace in his voice and her facial expression quickly lightened up. He was quite tall and she found herself looking up at him from her sitting position. Shizuka smiled, which seemed contradicting to the expression she held moments ago.

"Thank you."

A simple answer for a simple compliment.

"Did I disturb you in some way. I would have thought all the students to be in there dorm by now; well except for those special ones drawn to the night."

Her reference was hinting on beings such as vampires and werewolfs. She knew fully well they existed and assumed there would be a few in this school.

" You ....are a student? correct."

He just simply when she smiled, for he had missed the scowl. He was still a little cut off from reality do to the sweet humming. No matter he wouldn't have thought anything of her scowl, for he understood how dangerous the night could be. Even in a place where hundreds of other students lived.

"Did I disturb you in some way. I would have thought all the students to be in there dorm by now; well except for those special ones drawn to the night."

"Oh no. . . I rather enjoyed your humming." It was true that his sleep was disturbed, but Greg didn't think about it that way. In a way he was glad that he had awoken, for then he could speak to her, and compliment the song.

"Most students are in their dorms, and there are those who are here who enjoy the night, but I'm here because I won't be able to sleep out of doors until late spring next year."

" You ....are a student? correct."

"Umm, yeah." He was slightly confused by that question, for although there were people here who were neither students nor staff, he had yet to meet one of them.

"Oh I nearly forgot. My name is Greg."

Late spring next year Shizuka thought about the phrase for a moment. The days were becomig shorter and a chill could be felt in the breezes. She hadn't really come to the realization that fall was around the corner until just now.

"I guess fall will be here soon and no longer will the temperature allow for such pleasures."

Both of her hands touched the ground to her right and she slightly leaned forward. She could see him well but the illumination of the moon only revealed certain areas of him while the shadows cast by the trees hid a good amount of his frame. When she did move forward she moved in to a beam of moonlight shooting through the branches of the tree. All of her facial features became clearly visible. her violet eyes seemed to light up in contrast to the surrounding night.

Her small hand patted the mound of earth next to where she was sitting. A welcoming gesture for Greg to join her.

"Greg.. why don't you join me... My name is Shizuka... My grandparents preferred to call me by my middle name, Hikaru. Either one is fine with me."

With the tiniest of pushes she sat back up in to a stright position. Her shoulder now leaned against the tree as she looked at Greg and waited for him to sit down next to her. A warm smile graced her lips.

"Well since I did awaken you I am glad you atleast enjoyed my humming. It is nice to sing or hum for myself, but it is even more of a pleasure when someone else enjos it."

"I guess fall will be here soon and no longer will the temperature allow for such pleasures."

A soft sigh escaped him. It was slightly depressing for Greg, to watch the summer escape through his hands. Soon it would be a world of darkness, sleep, or death. It was enchanting in it's own way, but so depressing in other ways.

As he moved towards her. The scattered moonbeams danced around his brow, sometimes casting darkeness around his face, and othertimes casting a silverish glow on all of his features. Sometimes showing his blue eyes, innocent but distant.

"I'll call you Shizuka, than. . . It's a nice name." He spoke while lowering himself down to the ground. His legs strewn in front of him; one of his knees bent up, while the other lay flat against the dew-forming grass.

"It was very beautiful, your tune. I don't think I've heard it before either."

Shizuka heard him sigh after her comment and tilted her headsome. Strands of loose hair fell a bit a cross her face.

"The winter and fall aren't that bad. I think al the seasons are beautiful and enchanting in their own way. "

The girl shuddered a bit. When she lived in the city she would have never said something like that. but her time at her grandparents had a heavier influence on her then she thought. her thought pattern was suddenly interrupted when she caught a glance of his blue eyes. They were a great shade of blue but the look they held seemed to be a distant one.

Greg:"I'll call you Shizuka, than. . . It's a nice name." ..... "It was very beautiful, your tune. I don't think I've heard it before either."

"Thank you . .. I am not surprised you haven't heard it. It was from something I made up. I always loved singing so now and then I come up with my own melodies. So I guess it is one of my Hobbies. A friend of mine and I used to compose things all the time. I sang and she played the instruments... A matter fact..She is the one I am visiting here at AHS"

Where Greg grew up the winter and fall meant one thing. Rain, and lot's of it. It poared through all the seasons, gracing it briefly with a week or two of fluffy white snow. Usually after Christmas though. He chose not to comment on the wintery months, and simply smiled and nodded his head. His own hair drooped across his eyes, making them look even more distant, though it was very unitentional.

Truth be told he liked the girl as a friend. Though he doubted that he would make more out of it; he had nothing against her, but he didn't feel anything for her.

"Well your very good at it. In fact that was one of the best tune's I have heard on campus. . . You should have a concert with your friend, tell me does she go here?"

Greg knew some people at the school, but he kept mainly to himself, but he still knew some people.

Shizuka went back to leaning her back against the tree. Her gaze went back to looking at the sky through the branches. This caused her to miss the unintentional expression that Greg now had.

"Well your very good at it. In fact that was one of the best tune's I have heard on campus. . . You should have a concert with your friend, tell me does she go here?"

She smiled. Mitski was probably in her dorm asleep.

"Thanks, I would practice whenever I got the chance."

she slightly giggled.

"Actually when I was younger it was my dream to maybe one day be a singer.. but it faded to just something I love to do.. not have a career of. ....I wouldn't mind one day having a concert just for the fun of it. Mitski would probably like the idea to... She is not very shy....... That is the name of my friend... and yeah she goes here, just transfered a little while back."

her head tilted some and she glanced at him.

"Is there nothing that you love to do.. just because...?"

"Hmm. . . I don't know a Mitsiki. Well if she can play as good as you can sing, than you got yourself a band. There is always someone playing in the underground, you should go there sometime. Either way I'm sure you could make it as a singer, so don't knock it off yet."

He nodded his head when she giggled, and continued to smile. His eyes were now longer as distant as they once were, but they were still not close.

"Well I camp, and I bush whack. Other than that, most of the stuff I do is related to my powers, school, or you know that sort of stuff."

He sighed, it had been a while since his last training setion, and that had shown in the battles that he had fought in recently. True he hated fighting, but in both of those cases it was life or death. No inbetween, or any way around it.

"So tell me. Do you have any powers? Most people do around here."

"Well she is a fairly new student. I don't think has gotten around to meeting alot of new people. She is great at all kinds of instruments.. I think her favorite is the violin.. Even though thats the one she plays the least. .. As for me becoming a singer.. It won't be something I pursue. But if the opportunity comes along I will consider taking it; though I know my grandparesnt would fully object."

Shizuka stretched and extended her arms infornt of her. She then turned a bit so she could face look at him with out having to tilt her head in his diretion.

The girl nodded as he listed the few things. The only thing she could fully relate to was school. Even though she had not attended since she moved to this area. When he mentioned powers her nose wrinkled a bit for a half a second. While she was living with her grandparents part of her training involved her powers.

"Yeah .. I do have powers. After I moved to Japan with my grandparents I discovered them.. or maybe I should say they discovered them for me.. "

A smile appeared on her face as she looked at him. .

"They have something to do with the elements, aura and mythic/magical based spirits.... You mentioned you had powers.. What are they?"

"Oh, well would you allow me to demenstrate on you. It's painless if you don't resist, and most people consider it an erinching expiereience. . . The idea is that I can transform myself or others into their animalistic nickname, or the animal that suites them best. I don't like using it on others in battle, because it's rather risky to my health."

The memory of a young kitsune that nearly killed him way back when stuck out the most. There were other times when he nearly got killed by an unicorn, who was and is his best during the time. That one hurt the most for it gave her a pain, that she really didn't deserve. Of course there were other times, snakes, tigers, and such, but they were far back in the past, or in a time he would rather have forgotten.

"I can use it on myself as well with the aid of a mirror, or something else that reflects. I personally become a forest ogre. Trust me it's from a nickname, and not me. That's the down side of the power. People with animal nicknames always become that nickname."

Geg took a look at the fresh grass in front of him. So thick with the summer dew, as well as the golden sunshine. Last year he enrolled to late to grow his own plants, but this year he would be able to grow some of the freshest stuff around especially with the aid of his other magic.

"I can also grow plants, but it works the best on grass. . . I can make it grow to about ten feet tall."

His eyes smiled with pleasent sincerity. Greg loved his powers even if he was nearly killed by them. Even if he could never see his parents for years, because of them.

Shizuka stared at him. She was interested in the powers he just described to her. She couldn't help but smile. She liked animals.. well some. Mainly cats, ferrets... small curous creatures always appealed to her. She loved nature.. but gardening was never her strong suit. No matter how much she tried she could never grow things to their full splendor.

"My grandparents would absolutely adore you .. They love plants and nature... Animals and gardening.. Your like the child they wanted but never had... I like the same things... but I was never that great at gardening, even though I do enjoy nature.. I guess it is from being a city girl to long. "

She smiled warmly at him after her statements.

" I wouldn't mind letting you demonstrate. But I don't think I have an animal nickname.. Atleast I never gave myself one. Besides.. if it is risky to your health then it is really ok. I wouldn't want you to do something that could possibly harm you .. just to show me something.. "

She blinked a few times confused.. Was it a usual thing for people to have animal nicknames in this area.. She then wondered what animeal would suit her best..

"You said that it cold be an animal that suits them.. You don't have to demonstrate...but if that is the case, What would you think my animal to be?"

"Well I'd like to meet your grandparents one day. They sound nice enough, but don't worry gardening is a gift that anyone can learn. If you want next spring I could help. . . No magic though. . . It takes the fun out of it."

His eyes twinked in the scattered moonlight. It was obviose that he was becoming more friendly with her, even though he was never rude . . . just distant.

" I wouldn't mind letting you demonstrate. But I don't think I have an animal nickname.. Atleast I never gave myself one. Besides.. if it is risky to your health then it is really ok. I wouldn't want you to do something that could possibly harm you .. just to show me something.. "

"Oh no it doesn't cause me pain. It might cause you pain, but that's only if you resist. If you don't the transformation becomes much more enjoyable. . . Some have even said addictive. I don't see why though, I've used it plenty of times on myself. I don't think it's that great."

"You said that it cold be an animal that suits them.. You don't have to demonstrate...but if that is the case, What would you think my animal to be?"

His eyes went distant for a little while thinking about how he could explain this to her. He never could tell, sometimes he guessed and it came out correctly, but most of the time it wasn't so.

"I can never tell. Humans' personalities are much harder to figure out, but I guess you would be a bird of some sort. Perhaps a dove for your aura spiret powers. That's only a guess though."

She slightly noticed a change in him. He seemed way more in to the conversation then he did before. Shizuka smiled as she noticed this and was glad that she wasn't the only one enjoying the conversation. As for being here next spring it was possible she might be attending then.. If Mitski had it her way.

"Well maybe one day you will meet them. They live on the out.. out oouuuuuutt skirt of tokyo. Completely rural area. .. as for the gardening, I guess I will try. But don't say I didn't warn you ."

"I can never tell. Humans' personalities are much harder to figure out, but I guess you would be a bird of some sort. Perhaps a dove for your aura spiret powers. That's only a guess though."

"A bird huh.. then I can fly away... to almost anywehere.. Like the saying goes.. As free as a bird. .. to roam the sky. I don't know if i would want come back. "

She looked through the spaces in the branches at the sky. Her head tilted some to the side and then she looked back at greg. A slight smile on her face.

" painful... " *she paused* " Either way I guess I don't mind.. I will leave the decision in your hands. If not, I wouldn't mind just talking.. like we are now.. "

"Oh, you'll only last for about an hour, or three depending on your reaction to what was happining to you. Though it really doesn't matter, I only use the transformation on people who are dead positive they want to use it. . . or if they're attacking me and others."

He wasn't to sure that Shizuki would enjoy it, and he didn't want to upset her. Sometimes the pain was crippling, and sometimes it was just a flinch. It all had to do with the strengh of the student, and such. If she accidentaly resisted the pain might be to much for her.

"I think that perhaps we should do it another time. If that's alright with you, after all I really just want to talk. It's to late to do that sort of stuff anyways."

His eyes stared into the light of the moon, and at the stars sourounding it. Than as if by magic he spotted a shooting star pass right behind the moon.

"Did you just see that?" A hand pointed to the moon. Nev er in his life had he seen a shooting star do such a thing.

"I think that perhaps we should do it another time. If that's alright with you, after all I really just want to talk. It's to late to do that sort of stuff anyways."

In response to his statement Shizuka simply nodded and looked down at her knees. The idea of being turned in to an animal sparked her curiosity but he was right. In truth, she really wasn't sure if she could be comfortable with her body begin changed, especially if she would or might feel the whole process. Her arms crossed in front of her and her hands brushed up and down her upper arms a few times. There was no breeze to make her chilly; instead the action was done in reaction to her thoughts of transforming.

Her eyes looked to Greg. When she noticed him looking at the moon she too lead her gaze in that direction. She turned in time to see the shooting star shoot from behind the moon. It was a rare thing but something she had witness once or twice.

"Did you just see that?"

She turned her face again to look at him and couldn't stop her self from smiling. His enthusiasm when it came to certain things amused her. In her opinion he was a bit unpredictable.. or at least her first impression had been completely wrong. Before she spoke and before he turned to see her look gin at him she looked back to the sky; the smile still on her face.

"Yup.. those are rare.. I never saw them in America. But then again. I never took the time out to gaze at the stars.. That was a habit I caught from my grandparents. "

She began to think and realized how dramatically different her life had become. At the same time she couldn't complain; it could have been allot worst. She looked over at Greg; he reminded her of a few friends back home, since the majority of her friends were male. Those were people she always felt comfortable with and could talk.

"Well you offered to demonstrate your power for me. Do you want to see something?. it is not exactly a power.. but quite interesting. "

His smile was endless, half because the shooting star season was nearly over, and that may have been the last one that he would see for about a year, and half because that was one of the brightest shooting stars he had seen.

A soft sigh escaped him, for according to what he had learned. 'When the last of the shooting stars leave; rain shall come instead.' And although Greg loved and respected rain; he hated getting cooped up inside.

He memorized the moment. The leaves that shadowed the moonlight, giving the area a mysticle affect, the voice that had awoken him from slumber, and the cool summer's air. All of these were stored inside his memories, for the long winter to come. Usually he'd even dream about the situation once or twice.

"Well you offered to demonstrate your power for me. Do you want to see something?. it is not exactly a power.. but quite interesting. "

"Oh umm sure."

He hadn't expected such a question, but he really had no problem with it. In all honesty powers still amazed him, how different they were, how unique, or how closely linked to a person's charactor or past. It was almost like discovering a secret chamber within a well known tomb to him.

"Oh umm sure."

Shizuka nooded at him before looking at her lap. She brought her hands together in fornt of her. The palms of her hands cupped together creating a small space in the center. She leaned her head forward and closed her eyes. She didn't want to accidenltally use her power.. She just want'ed to call forthe the spirit that taught it to her.

After a moment of silence a blue light that seemed to glow against the darkness of the night. it slipped through the spaces left between her cupped hands. Knowing she completed her task she opened her eyes but did not uncup her hands. Instead she looked over at greg with a smile on her face.

"I can't communicate with her yet.. but I think I will eventually be able to .. It seems like everytime I do this she wants to talk to me.. Try not to make any quick sudden movements.. I noticed that she gets frightened easily... but when she warms up she is really amusing and cute. "

Her voice was low.. She knew greg had no idea what she was talking about.. he wouldn't know till she revealed what was in her hands. When she finally opened the palms of her hands... Sitting in the center of her cupped hands was a small pixie. The pixie was sitting down and when revealed it looked up at Shizuka then to greg. It had bright crystal blue eyes and light blue hair that fell straight down to her ankles. The pixies pale skin had a blue tint to it and and a blue glow eminated from it and lit up the small area where Greg and Shizuka sat.

He nodded in agreement to what she was stating, for he understood the idea that a smaller creature would be afraid of a bigger creature. Greg thought it was some sort of animal, and although he did think of the idea of a minuture human; he was still surprised to see her.

Though his eyes lit up with glee, instead of the more enthusiastic aproach that he had shown her with the shooting star. His own blue eyes looked at the pixie with curiosity and amazement. A child like innocence mirrored in his eyes, and although at times that wasn't true; he was still very innocent.

"An ice pixie. . . I never thought I'd see one."

Greg's voice was low as to not frighten her, or to attract to much attention. Although it was still low; it was also very child like. An innocent child-like ogre changeling was a sight to see, but there he was.

"Does she have a name." His eyes turned to Mitsuki, the bluish glow reflecting off of his own occuli.

A wide happy smile appeared on Shizuka's face. She was glad that she was able to show Greg something that he found amazing and interesting. It was quite a sight to see someone like him suddenly turn child-like. Hie eyes reminded her of a child who had just received a gift on christmas.

"I don't want to give her a name cause I think she may already have one. I just can't communicate with her for her to tell me. She helps me to learn my ice powers. We don't need to talk for that... it is like we communicate through our other senses and emotions.."

The ice pixie in her hands stood up and her blue eyes looked at greg and then to Shizuka. By her body gesture it looked like she was trying to talk to them. When the ice pixie realized she couldn't be heard she pouted and crossed her arms. The ice pixies wings spread and she fluttered up to face height in between Greg and Shizuka.

" I think she undertsand that you are not to be feared though. So far she and the sylph have taught me powers..The sylph isn't as social.. He comes and goes as he pleases, but she is always with me. "

The blue ball of light fluttered over to Greg and was in mid air before his face. maybe only an inch or two from his nose. She looked at him curisouly and smiled. She stayed there for a moment before fluttering up to his blond hair and messing it up a little. It wasn't heard but it was clear that the pixie was giggling.

"Yeah.. when she gets comfortable she becomes a bit too playful... when she gets to hyper the only thing I can do sa far to calm her down is sing. "

"Oh. . . I kind of do that do that when I use familiar, except I use mind related abilities."

His eyes never left the pixie creature, for he was still very amazed by it. The thought of seeing something that he had only met in fairy tales was still very much amazing to him. He had only once thought that he had saw a pixie, and that was once upon a time. And Greg thought he was half dreaming then.

"Oh a wind Slyph. I'm sure that Thomas would find that amazing. He's my brother, and uses wind related powers. . . There kind of weak though."

A smile came across his face, or should I say a bigger smile came across it, for that smile had yet to leave him. He hadn't minded though, and would probably never stop smiling for the rest of the night, and into the morning.

His blue eyes lit up like fire when she came closer, but with the pure clarity in them; it was doubtfull that it would be scaring her.

Then he went crossed eyed after looking at her that close. The blue light, shrewn across his face gave him a sort of sur-real look, but he two had to laugh when the tiny female messed up his hair. He had never cared that much about it, and as long as the lengh didn't drive him crazy; she could play with his hair all she liked.

"Well don't worry to much about it, though I wouldn't complain about the singing."

"Well don't worry to much about it, though I wouldn't complain about the

"I wouldn't want to wake anyone up.. It is late. It was also just an accident that I had started humming. If it wasn't so late.. I would sing if you wanted me too. As for your brother, if he has wind related power I may be able to convince the sylph to come and make an appearance; but he can be so stubborn at time. "

It was still amazing to Shizuka how much this males expression had changed. She stared at him as he paid attention to the pixie that was messing up his blonde hair. The blue radiance of the pixie seemed to drown out the light of the moon. If someone were to be looking at the weeping willow they might think it was the willow itself giving the blue light.

"I am glad to see you smiling. You seemed so much more distant earlier. "

She wasn't use to males being distant around her. Every male she had every met in her life became close friends and buddies. In truth she never really looked at them as anything more. She was one of the guys and had her tomboyish ways to prove it. her violet eyes glanced up to the top of Greg’s head to see the Pixie sitting there, as of Greg’s hair was her own nest of comfort. As the pixie sat there she had some strands of his hair clutched in her arms.

"Well.. it is obvious she likes you and you don't scare her. It must mean you are much more gentle then you look."

Shizuka laughed a bit at the pixies weird actions. She reached up with her hand and picked the pixie up off of Greg’s head. Greg could probably feel the slight tug from his hair. The pixie looked a bit upset but quickly got over it. Shizuka set her down on Greg's shoulder then went back to sitting normally.

"I don't want her to get to use to that. Not everyone likes that kind of thing.. so It would be bad for her to make a habit of it. "
