Fait sighed openly as he walked down the long cooridor to the library. He went to open the door when he saw it was locked. He sighed again but then grinned, seeing the door was electric. He placed a metal-clawed fingertip to the door control and let a small burst of lightning leave his finger. He heard circuits fry and the door system shut down. He opened the door quietly and walked in.

He didn't even bother with the lights...he had near perfect vision in the dark, and it must have been just after midnight. He sighed again and walked over to a computer, sitting down slowly. His body seemed to rock against the force as he sat down in the chair. His injuries were still fresh from the other night, a long scar across his throat from where it had been cut and a bruise on his chin from where his jaw broke...twice.

He grinned and turned on the computer. When he was possesed and fighting, his demon blade said he didn't know the true meaning of courage...He might as well figure it out...he had nothing better to do. He set to work on the keyboard, quickly opening up a window and reading its contents.

Courage-

The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution; bravery.

Fait laughed and tilted back in his chair slightly....His lightning eyes glowed against the darkness of the library. It was going to be a long night....Lucky for him, no one was in the library..or so it seemed.

On the other end of the library there was a cat. A cat that was about five minutes ago, typing furiosly on his computer. A last minute assighment, and a quick game of tetris had finished off his computer time. He had folded up his computer, and was about to go, and leave through the open window.

It was two small to let anyone in the school in, and it was about two stories high over rose bushes. To small for anyone, but a cat with raven wings.

Than he heard the door, and curiosity got the best of him. He inched slowly from bookshelf to bookshelf, and lowered himself down to where Fait was.

He was still tucked into the shadows, but he knew that it was possible to be seen. After all anyone who was able to read in the darkness, could see him to.

"I thought humans couldn't see in the dark. . . let alone read."

Two saphire eyes blinked, against the wall of darkness around him.

In his late night walks around the campus Diz found himself walking past the library but at this hour it shouldnt be open....and it also shouldnt be smelling very strongly of electrical smoke. To investigate to walked over to the door and entered. As he entered his bright blue eyes fell upon Fait and his ears caught onto a menacing sounding voice. Slowly he walked over, his hands in his pockets, giving a slight wave to Fait as he passed by, heading for a rack of books under the supernatural section. Maybe he could figure something out about his scythe while he was here.

Fait sighed quietly and turned around in his chair. He watched Diz walk past...no lights were even on in here...how could he read? He shrugged...everyone had their own abilites. He set his glowing orbs on the cat for a moment, his head slightly tilted to the side.

"My powers...all my senses are better..."

He shrugged again, wincing slightly. The peirce Lucian had done to him wouldn't heal for quite some time...Hell, he had his shadow sword go straight through his arm and come out the other end. He sighed quietly...he couldn't ever be like Lucian...he didn't really want to...he just wished he had control over his sword...the one that took over his mind.

"What is a miniature griffin doing in the library?"

Upon reaching the rack he summoned a small amount of etheral energy to his palm, it was no bigger then the flame on a lighter but it gave off about four times the amount of light, his eyes scanned across the titles. Ghosts, Ghouls, and Things that go bump in the night. ? ....Nope. Werebeasts ? ....Nope.
Entities of Death ? Ding Ding. He pulled the book from the shelf and carried it to a table where he sat down and opened it, the energy hanging over his shoulder like a someone holding a flshlight for him to read.

Ignoring the creature that had entered the library, for he was much more intrigued by the one who had the dictionary, and who smealt strongly of a storm. Quiet a scent to behold. Besides someone had to explain to him who he was.

"A) I'm a student here, and I have every right to stay here. B) get your myths straight. If I'm anything greek it's a sphynx, though I look more like an egyptian spynhx, because I'm mostly cat. Though any cat is more like an egyptian sphynx. If you really want to know my race, than call me a cat-bird. Though I prefer my name, Thomas."

He waved one of his paws in front of his face, and pointed his tail at his wings. "See cat head. Bird wings. Cat bird."

He fluttered towards the creature, and sat on the table. A good three feet in distance.

"Now if I was to guess what you were, I'd say either a meta or a thunder elemental."

Fait laughed quietly as he heard the creature talk.

"It was a joke Tom...chill out..."

He shook his head and turned back around to face him. The talking bird...thing..it was a little odd...especially at this time of night. But if he were a student, he did have every right to be there...even If Fait himself had broken in.

"I'm not really sure what I am actually...I got hit by lightning...black lightning...and now I can sorta use it I guess...."

He shrugged and held his charred glove out into the air between them. He pressed the metal clawed fingertips together as he could feel his hand increasing slightly in temperature. When he opened his hand again, a small ball of electrical energy was in his palm, black in color as white lightning raced around it menacingly, crackling and making tearing sounds.

"So...The names Fait...what brings you to the library so late?"

Thomas just smiled, but whether it was do to lack of sleep through out the day, or if it was because he didn't mind the black lightining creature was unknown even by him.

"Hmm. . . I suppose you would be both then. A creature that gained his powers by an element, but was not created by that element."

He watched the powers move around him like a strobe light. It was quiet a remarkable feat, but nothing to get giddy about. Still he wouldn't like to battle the guy.

"I had work to do, nothing special, and I get more done by myself. . . Now tell me," he spotted the door's wiring, "Why you had to break in here. I don't suppose you love reading that much?"

Fait sighed quietly and closed his fist. The ball exploded in a small shower of sparks as a grin could be seen on Faits face. He loved his powers.

"No...not really...I don't like reading...but I had to know something...."

He sighed quietly, thinking back to his night on the mountain...the loss of his friends...the gain of others, the scent of burnt flesh and blood, mainly his.

"You see Tom, I was possessed....By my sword..."

He grinned faintly and turned his body slightly so the massive blade could be seen.

"I need to find the true meaning of courage...not this dictionary crap..."

"You've got yourself a problem then. The meaning of courage could be one person's opinion, and not another. It just depends on your perspective, your past. . . And the sword's opinion on courage may not be your own, even though neither are wrong."

He thought long and deep for his own anser to that question. It was hard, for Thomas cared little about bravery, chivalry, or courage. He cared about his friends safety, his family's safety, and his own safety. It was sad, but life in the woods had done that to him, for his life wasn't a preatty one in perspective.

"I guess, mine is taking part in anything I can, no matter what I look like, or how I do it. To stand up for myself, and others. To know the difference between right and wrong, and do what is right. . . That's my courage. Perhaps you need to find your own courage, before you can 'the true meaning.'"

Fait sighed quietly.

"Maybe your right, Tom...But i'm not even really sure what courage means to me....Im not really sure about anything anymore.."

He laughed airily, trying to hide his sadness. His two best friends had been couragess....they had died fightin in battle....He would never forget Garasoth and Sijito....

"Think anyone will be mad I broke the electric works?"

"Only the electrian," Thomas laughed. "Don't worry, I'm sure that they'll fix it. There are other lighting meta's around here, so I guess the situation is fixable."

Thomas then glared at Fait, but it was for comical effect only. "I would appreciate it if you didn't whack out my computer though. I spent months on it."

Thomas sighed. It was pathetic, but he had spent well over a quarter of his two years on earth on that coputer, so that he could attend the school here.

"Still I wouldn't brag about it. I'm sure you would get in trouble with the higher ups."

Fait grinned and looked back around. Diz had left...nowhere to be seen. He shrugged and looked back at the computer screen, the word "Courage" Staring him straight in the face.

"Hey Tom...Do you know anything about sensing Energy..? I tried to learn it....but I never got it...and I think it would be usefull in my fighting/training."

He smiled weakly and looked back to the small cat-bird.

"Sorry I use my five sences, not my sixth or whatever sence you would consider it." He shrugged nonchelant-like. Truth be told Thomas wasn't really good at ki or power related anything.

In fact he was a horrible fighter, but it didn't bother him. His other abilities worked just as well, wits, cunning, flight, computer related skills, and his conections usually made sure that he would see another day.

"There are other people here, that might know a little more about it. I think Ryu teaches a course on that sort of stuff."

Fait grinned lightly and tipped his chair back again, swaying back and forth lightly, not nearly enough to make him tip over though.

"Yeah...I know he does....but I can't ever get a hold of him..."

He shrugged. Sensing Energy would probably be the best thing he would be able to do....if he ever got a grasp on it he would train it just like he did everything else....endlessly.

"Well then....I'm not getting anywhere just sitting here..."

He smirked and stood up, shutting off the computer. The screen faded out as the room fell back to darkness, the only light being the glow from Fait's eyes.

"Well...I've got work to do...gotta find this whole courage thing...Any suggestions?"

"Don't stress out about it to much, or else you'll proably miss it."

Thomas streached, and then got up. It was time for him to leave, and get some well deserved rest. Of course he didn't mind staying here with Fait; in facty he rather enjoyed it, but he wanted to leave Fait to figure it out by himself.

"Try meditating on top of Dragoon Mountain. It's a ways up, but it'll clear your head, and try using an empath. Teo is great at that sort of stuff, and don't worry you'll get there eventually I'm sure of it."

He slipped on his backpack, and bowed his head slightly. Mostly out of respect for what he was doing, and somewhat because he was begining to nod off.

"Good night."

Thomas took to the darkness of the library, and swooped out the open window. A black ghost hiddin in the darkness of the night. Naked to the eyes of people like Fait.
