Alicia had re-arrived at school and instead of checking on her dorm or even entering the school, she picked her way up the mountain in a path that she'd taken months ago. Her mind drifted as she noted that some of the more unusual rock formations were still there, most however; had been altered by nature or even by the acts (explosions) of students who sought adventure and/or training. She doubted many came to revisit old friends and relive an old memory. She was at once worried and hopeful. It seemed silly to think she'd find both Lucian and the pack of wolves on the mountain. Still she hoped...

It was still summer but a few signs pointed to fall's approach. It had been an entire summer since she'd left. Whenever Alicia began to doubt the length of time she'd been away, Melainia was proof that she had been. After all, the wolf pup was no longer the size of two hands but half grown. Almost instinctively the pup nuzzled Alicia's fingers, drawing her attention back when it wandered too far. Of course, it was mostly coincidence, as Melainia was always seeking affection and Alicia's attention hadn't stopped wandering since she'd arrived.

Alicia knelt and rubbed the pup's metallic scales. She found the contrast between her pale features and the pup’s dark shiny scales amusing. Of course, Melainia didn't quite belong on earth and that fact only made Alicia more intent upon protecting her. The pack had been willing to tolerate an almost normal human, once properly introduced. It would be difficult to get them to accept Melainia; at best Alicia hoped to prevent them from shunning the pup. One benefit of the summer was that it was long enough for Alicia to teach proper ‘manners.’ Not just wolf ones, but human ones as well. The pup had learned to sit and stay as well as to ‘shake.’ The commands were not spoken but slight hand gestures and an occasional sound.

“Well Melainia, it’s time for your first test.” Alicia spoke English so that the cub would not really understand. The tone was enough to emphasis the importance of good behavior. Melainia in response gave Alicia a reassuring lick on the hand and then ran off to explore a new smell on a nearby rock. Her voice also brought attention of a wolf from the pack that she’d been looking for. Reacting quickly, a sharp bark from Alicia caused the pup to stop and freeze.

As the adult wolf approached, Alicia placed herself between him and the wolf. She dropped English completely and began speaking the language of wolves. Melainia acted as any small child would, she was curious and fearful, peeking around Alicia but not looking for long or too closely.

Before too long, other wolves came and soon about 10 surrounded the pair. To be polite and avoid being tripped, Alicia knelt on the ground. One hand rested against Melainia. The pup lay on her stomach, her eyes looking around with interest. One by one the older wolves sniffed the pup. It was not a normal wolf and therefore they could not accept it into the pack; however, the alpha wolf decide that the pup would be tolerated.

Alicia rubbed the pup affectionatly and then began greeting the wolves. Some of them she pet others she wrestled with briefly. Melainia was greeted by the wolves as well. To Alicia's relief the pup was well behaved and respectful. It would be more difficult to tell how the younger wolves would react but that wouldn't be until later.

A cold wind blew around the stone ground along the mountain and rolled along towards the pack of wolves and their female friend, the air was cold for this time of year and something about it didn't seem natural, picking up on this they folded their ears back and slowly move away back to the safety of their cave.

A tall shadow stood atop a near by ledge that over looked the valley where the wolves made there home, and though the wind continued to chill the very air around them blowing around small brush and rocks that were caught in its wake, the long flowing cloak of the figure remained to move on its own, fluid motions of one with will as it went where it pleased, grasping at the air around it stealing its very life.

A pair of emerald eyes flashed to life as the shadows moved away slightly from his face allowing the full neon glow of light to cast down at the girl, the fire like eyes of green danced around the darkness like wild flames that licked against the night, the burning eyes flashed brightly again as the light was never fading and the motions never the same as they continued their rhythmic dance, as they eyes were upon her she seemed familiar to them...yet still she seemed like someone that was just a memory...a thought from long ago.

Without hesitation or fear the figure took a step over the edge and free feel a good 15 feet before his boots hit the solid rock of the path that led to the girl, he barely felt any impact at all, and lest of all his body showed any signs that he had just fallen in such a manner though his cloak did rush outward as he hit but only for a brief moment, the eyes never left her for a instant even while he fell through the air, they were lidless and only seem to grow larger as the shadow slowly started to move towards her, the wolves now in full retreat as their was a dark smell in the air that loomed like the scent of death to them, they would not dare challenge this figure, though the metal cub was to confused of what it should do though it still knew something dark was drawing closer.

The behavior of the wolves was not surprising to Alicia. The wind made her shiver and ponder whether she should have come so late. At least the cold wouldn't be so bad; she was wearing the old black outfit loaned/given to her by Lucian. She was about to send Melainia after the wolves, planning to follow and wait out the chill, when her stomach flipped. Her ice blue eyes searched instinctively for something or better yet for someone.

It was as Lucian fell that Alicia saw him. Her heart leapt into her throat as time stood almost still and she watched the fall. Even from where she was, she could see the green light. It seemed her eyes were the only sense to work, she was frozen in place her arms limply at her sides looking into a pair of familiar eyes. She didn't even react when her knapsack slipped off her shoulder, its thud occurring at the same time as his landing. For a moment she worried that he’d been hurt, but it seemed he was unharmed. Lucian had already returned to the school and she had no idea how long after she'd left. Cursing herself for not returning sooner, her eyes watched the dark figure approach.

"Lucian?..." Her voice wavered as though she feared that her imagination had fooled her or that this was all a dream. With effort she began to feel the cool air, hear Melainia's soft whine of fear, and see strands of her hair as it flew against her face. It felt like a spell had taken over and as though it wasn't her body, Alicia found herself having to order her legs to move. Once they started it was easier to move from a walk/stumble to an almost run.

The wolves’ fear could be explained by their last meeting with Lucian. Melainia’s nervousness was also understandable. Alicia didn’t even think anything odd of the wind; instead she enjoyed the feeling of the cool air against any skin uncovered by clothing. The summer had been rather hot, especially as she didn’t have AC. When she was within reach of Lucian she stopped, suddenly unsure of herself. It had been a long time and should she hug him? Instead she looked at him as though waiting for him to recognize her.

(( And it didn't take all week for me to reply! :D ))

Lucians eyes never left the deep blue of Alicias eyes, the emerald lights swirling around like the rhythmic motions of a slow burning fire in the night, tongues of flames licking at the darkness and swirling back to the mass of neon light, he followed her all the way to where he was.

Easily towering over the small wolf girl the cloak slowly flowed on either side of her, basking her in shadows all around, a cool sensation trailing across the areas of exposed flesh on the girl, almost like a water feel as the shadows brushed along her small body, with a flash of his burning emerald eyes the shadows withdrew slightly though still surrounded the girl.

"Alicia..."

It was if night itself carried a voice of whispers are the sound rolled from the shadows, the words were empty as though they really were nothing but sound that trailed around the girls ears with a cool warm sensation.

"It has been awhile has it not...but it seems as though you have return...though not as soon as I thought you would have...but then again I was in a demonic realm and you had no idea when I would return myself...though I was surprised to find you not here at my return...though that matters not...not anymore..."

The cloak seemed to grow darker for a moment and seem to bring a night like feeling to the area it covered, it was like shadows upon shadows as they stirred slowly around and around the pair, the little metal wolf would find it would be very difficult to reach her master now, it was as if Lucian and Alicia were the only two on the mountain, his eyes burning softly in the shadows as they gazed lidlessly into Alicias blue, melting within them with the neon light that flowed like mist along the edges.

OOC: You only had to wait a hour and half :)

Melainia crept closer to the pair but stopped when she found a large rock to 'hide' against. Alicia had emphasized the importance of the pup not putting herself in danger. Besides, there was no reason to believe Alicia was fighting; otherwise there would be sounds of it.

Within the shadows Alicia found herself looking into a pair of eyes. The voice of their owner had seemed colder than she remembered. While she did listen to every thing he said, it was hard to hear more than a few key words. Tears welled up in her eyes but were not allowed escape. A demonic realm? It wasn't hard to imagine the horror of what had happened to Lucian.

The fact that he dismissed it so easily, only made Alicia more upset with herself. She wasn't sure what to say, it didn't seem like anything could justify her being away. Melainia probably would have been fine at AHS, eventually she'd have gotten used to looking for Lucian in every place. After all, even when she was away Alicia still occasionally looked to see if he was there. Her imagination making an old memory seem real.

It seemed like perhaps she was remembering Lucian from just before they knew each other; when he'd infuriated her and made her want to scream. If that were true, then her waking dream would evaporate soon. Almost fearfully she threw herself at Lucian, her arms wrapping around him. Somehow she thought that he wouldn't be there but she didn't fall through a vision.

"You came back," she said more for herself. Her voice was dry and almost a whisper. After all, Lucian knew he'd come back. She was the one that had left for no good reason and then feared returning to find that he hadn't come back, yet.

As her small arms wrapped around him the cloak rippled like water as it closed in and took her in a dark embrace all but her face, a single arm rested around shoulder and gently ran gloved fingers through her snow white hair lightly rolling over her ears.

"I have been back for awhile now...and just now have I found you again...I came here knowing you would return to the wolves you befriended before you returned to the dorms..."

The slow gently motion of his hand stopped suddenly as the cloak was now fully around the pair, no sign of light able to peer what it would never, it seemed as though the night suddenly took the two as her face as pressed warmly to his chest.

"Shall I show you where I have been since last we met..."

Without another word and before she could answer, his gloved hand rested cooly on her forehead and pressed down over her eyes the darkness now fully taking her, in a flash of overwhelming darkness seemed to fill her mind, and her sight was filled with blast of black fire, as pieces and incomplete images of pain, suffering, and the endless fighting that Lucian endured during his time in the demon world, all sound was gone but still the pain of what Lucian went though was there, his body broken and his mind ripped into by the demon lords hand, a image of herself was saw for a brief moment before it shattered into countless shards and faded into nothing but black glass, flashes of images of all of Lucians wounds race across her mind making her fell only a taste of what Lucian felt though she would know he indore so much more, the screams of souls all around her, the darkness ever gripping to pull her into the flames, every nightmare she would ever have in her life time seemed to be pulled into this moment.

Then as fast as it came Lucian slowly lifted his hand away from her eyes, the darkness around them was now almost like the dead of night even though the sun rested high above, the coolness within the circle of shadow increased, and Lucians eyes burned down towards the girl Alicia holding her in their endless emerald gaze.

Alicia smiled weakly as Lucian spoke. He seemed to know her at least as well as she knew herself. It wasn't planned to go to the wolves first, but the closer she got to AHS the more she felt she needed to go. There were tears, mostly of happiness, in her eyes making them seem like pools with a shimmering surface.

Then they were covered. Alicia's fingers curled as the first images flashed through her mind. Soon they were tightly gripping fabric, almost in an attempt to keep her balance. Each image, even the briefest ones, etched themselves into her memory. As she realized that her original thoughts on demonic realm were grossly underestimated. To make matters worse, the silent visions had sound for her. Like an echo, she heard the scream that had haunted her since their meeting on Dragoon Mountain. Even if he wasn't screaming in the vision she could hear it.

The sight of her own face shattering confused Alicia but she was unable to think about and discover the meaning behind it. There was so much at once in her mind. Nausea struck as her stomach could almost not handle the amount of pain she was feeling for Lucian.

Then the images faded, leaving Alicia to once again look into Lucian's eyes. Her mind was still processing the images and her heart still aching for Lucian. A tear managed to escape one eye sliding down her cheek. The gaze that held her felt like it was her only connection to the world. If she blinked or looked away it seemed she'd fall into the hell just witnessed.

Alicia didn't demand to know why Lucian had so willingly gone into a hell dimension. Somehow she felt she knew the answer. Instead her mind replayed each image over and over again, trying to comprehend and to make it go away or at least take some of his pain.

She wanted to push back his hood and look at how his face changed, to kiss his cheek at least. It wasn’t possible though because she couldn’t let go the material within her hands. She felt light headed and as though letting go or movement would only cause her to fall. Suddenly it was as though she truly understood everything and no longer feeling captive of Lucian’s gaze. Alicia closed her eyes and buried her head against his chest. All she could do was hold on to him and let silent tears fall for his pain.

As the shadows danced slowly around the pair silence seemed to be the only thing able to flow freely within the circle of darkness, Lucian said no words for what seemed countless as he stood there with her, the small girl wrapping her arms around him and sheading unneeded tears for what he had been through, the image of her was the one that Lucian fought to hold onto in his time in the deamon realm as his memories were ripped into by a unseen hand that sought to remove all human emotion from his mind, but he fought to keeps hers...only to find her gone when he returned.

Time suddenly seem to come to life once again as the soft echos of Lucian broke through the silence as his place a gloved hand atop her head, his touch lightly ran down the side of her cheek and tilted her chin back up to face him a the emerald pools of fire turned and swayed in the darkness.

"As you have now seen...much has happen since I return to find you gone...and so many things have changed as well...just as I have...what we had was nothing more than a day of freedome for me...something I paid very greatly for in fact..."

His hand broke away from her chin and return to his side as the cloak seemed to be the only thing holding her up at this time as they loomed around her like a thick mist, Lucian was ready to leave now, to put this behind him and move one, but something deep within him forced him to stay and see what Alicia had to say...after all it was the least he could do for a old friend...

Alicia felt shattered like that image. The day she’d held on to had cost him so much. Now it seemed it was about to cost her more than she thought it would. She’d never not love Lucian, she knew that. Could she tell him so? Could she make him return her love? By begging? No, there was nothing she had a right to beg for. Hadn’t he refused to promise her anything? He had not lied and so the least she could do was respect his word.

“Too much,” the words slipped out as she heard Lucian’s last words echo in her head. Her eyes now felt dry as she looked into the green flames. The tears had dried on her cheeks or been soaked up. They had left behind trails of salt and her skin felt sticky.

“I won’t forget that day,” she promised herself and Lucian. She ordered each finger to release their hold on the cloak. Her mind ordered her legs to do their job and they started to. It seemed a strong wind could knock her over, but at least she was trying to stand alone. Her arms pressed against her stomach to steady it and to provide her at least a sense of security.

“Will we train together or would...” Alicia swallowed back her fear, she didn’t care about her own pain anymore, “you rather not?” As she asked she wondered how she’d react to either answer. Would it be better to see him more often or to almost never see him? Either way she knew that she’d rather seem him often, even if it did hurt to do so.

Her stomach refused to obey any orders of the mind. It held butterflies as she spoke and seemed to get worse as she waited. She made her fingers change slowly, using the pain from their transformation to keep her grounded. Once the most painful part was done she just let them finish up. Her arms were crossed over her stomach, to steady it.

She wanted to wake up and see Lucian smiling at her and holding her close. Her mind cruelly stole that image from her, instead replacing it with one of the images from before. Her eyes seemed to harden from their dryness as she tried to hide the pain. It was like her treasure and she planned to guard it closely.
