Fait flew silently once again through the dead of night. It had to be at least midnight. Strong beams of moonlight glittered upon the side of the mountain, sheilded occasionally by clouds. The light glimmered off the large blade on his back as the night was filled with the soft sound of crackling lightning. His black lightning wings had him high in the air yet his head was hung low, as was his mood. His eyes were closed, the black eyes were no longer graced against the night. Soft breezes blew by, rustling the leaves in the few scattered trees below him. He started to descend on a large cliff, one of the highest points of the mountain. It looked secluded...and with his hearing he heard nothing besides the sounds he made along with hooting of owls. He had just come from the forest floor, the scenery of the treetops along with his new gargoyle friend had not helped his situation in the least. He was still depressed...tired...angry at himself. He couldn't control his feelings...and he knew it. One of his boots laned silently on the tip of the cliff, leveling out and pressing the sole against the hard rock of the mountain. His other one soon followed as his lightning wings crackled feircly one last time and disapeared in a blinding flash of black light. He stood quietly, unmoving from his spot, overlooking the vast expanse of the forest, the school beyond that. He kept his eyes closed, however. He didn't want to see...not at the moment. There was no reason for it. After what had happened on the roof...he wasn't sure if he was still considered human...he had never meant to cause her pain....he just couldn't control it. "Maybe....Maybe I should leave....." He spoke the words quietly to himself. He knew that there was no answer to the questions that floated through his mind. He couldn't leave though....leaving would mean starting over...and starting over would show he couldn't deal with his problems...and that ultimately portrayed weakness. He sighed quietly against the dead of night, the heressy of shadows that surrounded his body. He knew he couldn't be weak...he had to be strong....he had to show courage...true courage was something he longed for....to be able to die happy....to spend his life saving others... He sighed again and clenched his fists loosely. The charred gloves that he wore on his hands...the ones with metal tips...and metal claws. They aided in fighting...and fighting was what he lived for...but it was so hurtful..so painful to others...it made people worry...people he cared for...people he cared for more than they could ever hope to care for him. He sighed again in a hushed tone as he released his fists. He had to be strong...he just had to. This was not how he wanted to be....depression was not what he longed for. As Fait continued to listen to the sounds of nature, another dreaded thought creeped its way into the confines of his mind. A thought he feared...a thought he didn't want. If depression....was just a concious state of death...then...could this be..? No....it couldn't be...not here...not like this. "Is this what it feels like....to be...dead?" |
