Dressed in loose green shorts and a simple long sleeve white top Ausette jogged into the gym, barley able to contain her energy. It was just after lunch and she’d basically gotten her second wind, if you will; food really seemed to do that to her. Or it could have been the obscene amounts of sugar she had scarfed down. Normally she wasn’t so much a sugar addict, but today she had just felt the need into give into the temptation of sugary sweets. Chocolate, caramel, lollipops; you name it and she’d eaten it. She was well aware that it was no where near healthy, but as long as she didn’t eat that horribly all the time she should make it past thirty or so. Tucking strands of ebony hair behind her pierced ears she spotted the treadmill and immediately hopped onto it, ready to run. She ran about a mile or so, not too much considering how much she usually ran, but it was a decent amount. For some reason today nothing would hold her concentration; she needed something new. Something that would hold her attention. It was then that the sugar high girl spotted two people fighting, sparring if you want the proper term. Ausette was in no way a fighter, so there was no way she was going to go on and ask a person if they wanted to spar. Anyway, she’d only waste their time by sparring with them. Goodness, she couldn’t even kick, punch, whatever those people did. A frown briefly lingered on her features before her amber eyes spotted another sight; a sight that might just prove to be worthwhile. Practically skipping on over to the new sight she held out a slender finger and tapped it tentatively, having never touched one before. Sure, she had seen one - after all, who hadn’t seen a punching bag – but that didn’t mean she had actually vented her anger on one. Actually, she didn’t get angry often so why would she need to vent anything? She wouldn’t, so to her punching bags were completely useless. Today, it seemed, was a slight exception. Remembering what she had seen other people do she lifted her leg up, bent back at the knee, and let loose…sort of. Let’s just say it didn’t work so well. For her kicking was like a fish out of water; it simply couldn’t be done right off the start. She hesitated to ask another student, though. All the ones she usually saw at the gym were such macho buff sparring people that she would have made a complete arse of herself. That in itself wasn’t too bad, but she honestly didn’t feel like doing it. And, beside the point, when would she ever need to fight. Well, at this school…she probably should have been doing it an awful lot more than her grand total of zero. She knew that by combating with other students she would build her powers and physical strength, but it all seemed pointless. There were better things to do, after all. Like, for example, right now she could have been out in the gardens jogging or even in the lake swimming. But no, she had chosen the bloody gym. Bad choice, really. But, she supposed it was better to practice; it couldn’t make her any worse, could it? |

"Step back, body sideways, lean all your weight on the back leg, slightly bent" A soft voice said from behind the girl. If she turned around, she'd come face to face with a slender, young girl. She was about the same height, probably slightly older. Maybe a year or two, not much. Her honey brown hair was pulled into a loose bun, strands escaping here and there to curl around her curved features. Sweat beaded on her forehead from her previous workout, which was quickly blotted by the towel wrapped around her neck. The girl smiled, it was genuinely a warm, sincere one. "Then your front leg should be straight...Standard form...or at least from what I know..." She explained, ending with a small shrug. Clad in a purple tank top and black running pants, she strode to the side, beside the girl. Her sneakers bound over the soft padding of the gym floor. "I don't do much myself..." Though she spoke perfect Japanese, one could tell she wasn't from the country. Her accent slightly peaked during certain words. Inidgo eyes watched the other girl, then shifted to punching bag. Her hands were grasped around each end of the towel around her neck. "I could help you if you'd like... Are you new to the school...?" Suddenly, Faye paused in her speaking. A blush crossed her tan cheeks. "I apologize, it was rude for me to inturrupt and not even introduce myself." She ducked into a bow. Her hair became more unraveled as she did so, causing the carmel colored tressles to become a curtain over her face. "Faye Nautala" When she returned to an upright position, one hand pulled her waist length hair from her face, while the other hand offered a handshake. "You are?" |

"Step back, body sideways, lean all your weight on the back leg, slightly bent" As soon as the ebony haired girl had caught the words she’d imitated what they said, if not so graceful. The stance she soon found herself in, though, was much better than standing with her feet slightly apart and just stick her leg out. Ra, if she did it that was it probably looked like she wanted to trip the punching bag. Sweeping her tawny hand through her short cropped hair she turned around to face the soft voice that had offered the advice. Her eyes were met by a girl that was a little like her in physical stature, even if the honey haired girl was more curvaceous. Then again, it really wasn’t all that difficult to be curvier than Ausette. Now, don’t get me wrong, the girl wasn’t as flat a board, but she wasn’t graced like it seemed so many others were at this school. Perhaps she was a late bloomer. The Lotus blossom had yet to flourish, now how was that for irony? Ausette Lotus…it all made sense now. A faint smirk came over her countenance as she thought of it that way; actually, it was rather amusing. Fancy her mother naming her that. "Then your front leg should be straight...Standard form...or at least from what I know..." Ausette grinned at the girl in thanks, it really was difficult not to. The girl was just one of those beautiful ones who had an infectious smile; one would have to have had a heart of frost to not smile – or at least grin – back. Even from its position in the bun Ausette could tell that the girl had long locks. She, personally, found long hair to be annoying and sinfully hot (especially where she came from), which was the reason for her strands to not pass her shoulders. Long hair, on this girl at least, compliment her face a lot. It was a nice combination. “What you know is a lot more than what I know, but I’m sure you could tell,” she said with a smirk. It was true, as well. A rock would probably better at this than she was. But – hey - at least she was trying it, right? After all, that was more than some people could say. Though, she could always use the excuse she was a lover, not a fighter; but that would be a lie. As far as she knew no one had that philosophy. Some people came awfully close, but even they had breaking points. After all, they were just human…well, almost. "I don't do much myself..." Ausette shrugged off that comment, it didn’t matter to her. The girl could do more than she could, so any advice was good advice. Unless it was go jump off the roof, in which case she would not oblige. While the girl spoke Ausette noticed the slight accent she spoke with. She didn’t mind it in the least bit, after all, Ausette spoke with a faint accent as well. Normally her accent imitated that of those in Egypt, but on some words her voice got slightly nasally from the French her father had taught her to speak from a young age. And, anyway, to her it seemed many people had accents. So, it wasn’t a bad thing at all. "I could help you if you'd like...” “That would be wonderful,” Ausette replied simply. Any help would be very much appreciated; what the girl had all ready told her was good, as well. But, if the girl wanted to help Ausette would stop her. She just didn’t want to waste anyone’s time because wasted time was lost time. Though, since the girl had offered, maybe she didn’t feel it would be a waste of time. Hopefully not. Ausette shook her “no” her ruffled stands of hair gently swaying to and fro. “Not to the school. The gym, though, is another case,” she said with an easy grin. “I’m in tenth here, you?” she asked, returning the question as it was polite to do. "I apologize, it was rude for me to interrupt and not even introduce myself." “Apology accepted,” she replied politely, “but you didn’t interrupt anything, trust me,” she said, her hand moving to the back of her neck as it often did when she was feeling awkward. She still wasn’t so accustomed to people bowing when they made an apology, so she really wasn’t sure how to respond. As long as she didn’t say or do anything that would be deemed rude she figured she stood a chance of getting to know and like people. This student was no exception to that. "Faye Nautala" “Faye,” she said, testing out the name on her tongue. “Lovely name,” she commented charmingly. It was a unique name, but it was a beautiful name. Go figure, a beautiful name to match with an equally lovely girl. Perhaps Ausette would have stood a better chance at being drop dead gorgeous if she’d had a name like Belle. Not that she minded her appearance; she liked both the Egyptian aspects and the aristocratic features, a nice mix in her “oh so modest” opinion. "You are?" “Ausette Rousseau,” she replied, her lips parting in a smile to reveal white teeth. “Pleasure to meet you,” she continued, her amber eyes seeming to hold a smile just as her face did. “So,” she said conversationally, “you really think I’m not to far gone to help?” she said with a rich laugh. She looked forward to being helped by Faye. The caramel haired girl seemed to have a truly sweet personality; something many, herself included, could not make a claim to. |

“Ausette Rousseau" Faye's smile widened. Not many people around were a nice as this girl. The aura Ausette gave off made Faye happy for some reason. It was like a fresh breeze, energtic and soothing. "Ausette...it's beautiful" She replied, speaking openly. As of late, she kept her thoughts and comments to herself. It had not been a good time to be completely honest when all her friends were either on the edge or in a coma. The thoughts were creeping slowly into her head. a feeling trickling down her spine that made her stomach feel hollow. She tried to keep the feelings from meeting her face, only a moment did it reflect her inner feelings. “Pleasure to meet you,” Her voice broke her of her concentration. The girl quickly pushed the dark thoughts away, her eyes shifting to meet Ausette's amber ones. Meeting the Gold-brown orbs, it made the feelings bleed away and the smile returned to her face. "Pleasure's all mine..." "You really think I’m not to far gone to help?" Ausette asked while Faye was pulling the towel from around her shoulders. Walking to the edge of the mat, she folded it and laid it down upon the floor. Standing, she strode back to the younger girl. "Of course not, remember, you can teach an old dog new tricks..." Faye was stretching her arms above her head as she said that. She paused mid-stretch, a look passing over her face. Her arms dropping down and she shook her head. "Not that your an old dog...well...You know what I mean..." She giggled softly, pulling a strand of hair behind an ear. She than remembered that Ausette had inquired her name. "Oh, also, I'm in 11th grade, 16, I'll be 17 later in the month..." She explained, still stretching out a bit. Ausette didn't need to stretch, but Faye had been on the bike machine, and thought it better to stretch before switching to another form of exercise. Once done, she stood up straight. The smile returning to her sakura lips, motioned Ausette to step out onto the mat with her. Away from the punching bag. "It's better to know the form before actually striking..." Faye knew from breif experience. Though she lived a sheltered life in the wilderness of British Columbia, her parents still thought it appropriate to teach her self-defense. Faye took a deep breath and went into position. Like she had told Ausette, she leaned back on her back leg. Her hands were tilted vertical, one farther out, while the other was more bent in, closer to her. Her body was curved slightly forward. Her foot piveted to the floor while the back was pulled forward. Putting her weight in it, her body shifted into the kick, making it swift and powerful. Once at its limit, she let it stop and she lowered it back to the first position. Faye looked at Ausette. "You try?" (I've taken some karate courses, and I thinks thats how to do it, if I'm wrong, correct me and I'll edit ^_^;;; ) |

((I would tell you, but I think you’ve got it down. I’ve done the martial arts too – go us! ^__^ I’ve done three different styles and left them all because of how they were taught. Lordy – one master was a head case, the other was way too pushy, and the last was awfully disrespectful. Honestly, I really don’t have good luck in that sport. ^__~)) "Of course not, remember, you can teach an old dog new tricks..." A smirk crossed Ausette’s lips and a jovial light danced in her orbs. “Oh yes, woof woof,” she said with a soft laugh. She knew Faye hadn’t meant it that way, but it was always fun to play along as if she had. Plus, it didn’t hurt to be friendly, now did it? No. Exactly the point. And, anyway, by this time she was all ready starting to like Faye. She was a whole lot more normal and pleasant than the people she’d met so far. Well, to be fair, not all the people she’d met so far were odd. Just a few. "Not that your an old dog...well...You know what I mean..." “Of course,” she replied with a grin. "Oh, also, I'm in 11th grade, 16, I'll be 17 later in the month..." “That’s cool,” she said truthfully. “So you’ve got a lot of experience here, I take it?” she questioned. By here she didn’t just mean the gym, she meant the whole school. Even though Ausette was just a year younger she was sure she’d gain more and more experience. In which case Faye must have been brimming with it. Imagine, another year older; more people to meet and powers to control. How brilliant. Once Faye motioned away from the bag Ausette followed her to the mat. It was probably good to go to the mat; maybe Faye would show her how to do…something. Kick, perhaps? The correct stance, maybe? Whatever she showed Ausette would be grateful. After all, at the moment she was on ground zero, having no former experience. In fact, she still marveled that some one was helping her. She didn’t think many would have done that. Or, if they had, they would have sounded amazingly superior. And that was one thing Ausette could not stand. "It's better to know the form before actually striking..." Ausette nodded her head in agreement; it made sense. After all, if she learned the technique before the bag then at least she wouldn’t – hopefully – gain any negative habits. But if she had tried more hitting beforehand she probably would have gotten set in her incorrect ways, making it more difficult for her to learn the actual way to kick. She watched patiently as Faye went into a stance: the same stance she had advised Ausette to go into when she had first spoken to her. She watched carefully as Faye executed the kick, her whole body balanced as her leg thrust out strong and swift at an invisible attacker. Ausette went over the movements in her mind; trying to remember them should she have to try it. First, go into the stance. That wasn’t too difficult considering Faye had shown her earlier. Granted, her stance would be off since she was new at this; at least she had the basic concept down. Second, execute the kick. Don’t drop your hands and stay balanced: Ausette figured those things would be the most difficult for her to remember and do. "You try?" “Sure,” she said slowly, dragging out the word. She could only improve if she tried, so no use being hesitant. Clenching her eyes shut briefly to keep the steps in order she went back into the stance. Her back leg was bent, her front leg almost completely straight, and her hands perpendicular to the floor. Slightly pivoting on her front foot she brought up her back leg at the same time, her knee bent so that she could snap her leg out. And, doing her best to keep her balance she kicked out her leg and brought it back to her body before setting it down rather quickly. Oh yeah, she needed to work on balance. “Ta da!” she said with a laugh as she turned back to face Faye, waiting for the constructive criticism that was sure to come. |
