The night. There was no better time than when darkness fell upon the Earth. A cool breeze was blowing through the school grounds, making the temperature drop a good ten degrees. It was the perfect time to just stand on the roof and observe. That was exactly what Ootu was doing on this particular night, observing. He had never truly understood when or why he started this habit of his, but ever since the battle wtih Avious he had gained quite fond of it. He wouldn't admit it, but he enjoyed watching the world pass by his eyes. Watching regular people go about their every day lives or in this case, watching meta-humans go about their every day lives. This place gave off a sort of peace that he had been denied for the better part of his life.

There Ootu stood, on the corner of the school, his arms folded in front of chest as the wind blew against him, causing his oversized cloak to sway like a flag on a pole. He watched a few students below, some were couples walking down the lighted path, others were hunters, praying on those that would leave such lit ways. Had he been down there, he was certian that he would be with the hunters, as he always had been. Unlike those below, Ootu only prayed on the prey that was worthy of dying. Mr. Francis Pinco of Italy, head of a well known Italian mob, was a worthy prey. Sixty three years ago, that's how long it had been since Ootu took Pinco's life. Eighteen men, five dogs, three cars, two police officers, and Pinco himself were the spoils of that night.

Then there was Tongo and his master so long ago. Tongo would have been a respectful fighter, had he been fighting someone else. Ootu almost laughed as he thought back on that short battle, then the ensuing chaos that he caused after it. Chicago, the fires that Avious had started. Avious. Why was it that every memory that Ootu had ever attained brought him back to Avious. Every person that he had ever killed had something to do with Avious. Every man, woman, and child that had fallen to Ootu's blade had something to do with Avious, that was their only crime in life. But to Ootu, it was the biggest crime of them all. Though he was not even here, Avious still controlled his life, his actions, everything that made Ootu keep going.

When it came down to it, Ootu was not observe the people below, but seeing them and reflecting upon himself. He saw how they lived when there wasn't the fear of being hunted, the fear of waking up one more in a coffin, gasping your last breaths of life. Avious was out there, Ootu could feel him, could hear his voice in his head. Avious, his master, his mentor, his enemy was observing, just as Ootu was doing, but for different reasons. Ootu would running out of places to go, he couldn't keep staying one step ahead of Avious, he was tired of running. Kauko. For the first time in over a century Ootu remembered Kyako, remembered the sacrafice that a true warrior had made. He was superior to Ootu in every way, in strength and character. He was the only one who truly understood Ootu, but now he was gone, consumed by the larger fire from hell.

Avious. Yet again he was brought to that monster. But who was he to call someone a monster? There had been times when he killed for pleasure, killed for the reasons that Avious taught him. For nearly two centuries Ootu had gone without guidence, but he would rather have none than be Avious' slave again. Damn that man, damn him and everything that he had created. Ootu closed his eyes and let the wind pass through his cloak.

"When fire and ice collide, only one will survive," he told himself, "the fire will melt the ice, but the melted ice will subdue the fire. The only question is, which will be stronger to commit to the final blow?"

Ootu balled up his hands into fists and grinded his teeth together. Ice would be the stronger when the two finally engaged in the last battle. His fists continued to tighten and soon he had caused the scabs on his palms to open. Crystal blue blood began to drip from the wound. The droplets froze upon leaving Ootu's palm and fell to the concrete, below, shattering upon impact and sending small pieces of ice in every which direction. He would be victorious when he encounter Avious, this was something that Ootu would see too.

More blood began to fall from his palms, this time the flow was too steady for all of the drops to freeze. The area around Ootu began to become quite slick as more blood splashed to the ground, but he didn't care, the pain made him stronger. Finally, after nearly covering most of the corner of the roof with ice, he pulled back the grip and sighed. The iced blood continued to fall, but within 30 minutes it had already started to scab over.

"I observe the world," he told the wind that blew around him, "and all I see is his damn face."

Ootu released somewhat of a growl and spat to the side, "Why couldn't I have died that night like Kauko, like a true warrior should have died. I was a coward, but no more, I am tired of running from you Avious!"

His voice echoed somewhat amongst the school ground, but very few people even noticed that sound. This school was full of weird sounds and strange creatures, why would one angry voice even be noticed. Ootu stepped down from the corner and onto the flat of the roof. His eyes fell upon the ice that was already beginning to melt upon the rooftop. Flashbacks of the Chicago fire flipped through his mind, as he remembered why Avious started it, why he wanted to destroy everything just to find him. Ootu remembered the power that Avious attacked him with, the raw power that ripped through Ootu's every defense. Observing the world, that was not what he should be doing. He should have been observing himself more, finding his weaknesses and changing them.

"Weakness," his voice was soft and calm for once this evening, "that's all that I am filled with. He knows this. He will feed off of it."

His eyes closed slowly and he folded his arms in front of his chest. His palms stung greatly, making thinking quite hard, but not impossible. All the same, it was hard to think and so he did not try. Again his eyes opened and he watched the people below, observing them as he always did.

((how tall is your chara?))

Tsunami came flying arounf the school's roof with her gold eyes looking from here to there. She saw a boy then, he looked pretty average, with the exception of his hair. The look on his face told her he wasn't in a good mood and she wondered why. Today was a nice day, at least for her it was, so far no one had tried to squash her with a giant fly swatter again. So, she was in a good mood and decided to see what was bugging him. Her carefree mood going to her head.

She landed behind him and draped her arms over his shoulders, almost in a hug. A small smile on her face, she hoped he didn't freak out by appearence and try to kill her with a fly swatter. A small shiver went through her then, his skin was so cold! Her wings swaying against the wind lightly. Feh, the day was a little to warm anyway, so having him was like an AC unit. The thought itself made her smile a bit as she looked at him.

"Why so blue?" She asked.

(Five feet, six inches.)

It was instinct, that's all there was to it when it came to people touching Ootu. Immediately upon being touched, Ootu spun out of her grasp, turning a complete 180 degrees to face her, and forced a blade of ice out of his right hand. He growled slightly under his breath, but that was all that could be heard or seen from within the shadow that his cloak's hood cast over his face.

"What do you want," he said calmly, but his tone quickly changed as thoughts raced through his mind, "Avious sent you didn't he? I knew it. I knew he would come for me tonight!"

Ootu crouched down slightly, just barely bending his knees, then brought the blade of ice in front of his body, preparing to strike.

"Ready yourself, assassin!"

Tsunami blinked a few times in surprise. He was fast, pretty fast. When she heard his question, she got ready to answer bu twas quickly cut off. Avious? Who the heck was that? The ice blade in his hand made her eye's widen. This guy was really paranoid. For god's sake, she was a butterfly! Did this Avious sent butterflies to get this guy? What were the butterflies to do? Blind him with breath taking colors?

"I don't know what you're talking about! I just came here to see what you had you down in the dumps! I'm completely unarmed! Seriously, whoever this Avious guy is, would he really send an unarmed butterfly girl to take you out?" She placed her hands on her hips as she lifted her right brow in puzzlement.

Ootu narrowed his eyes slightly, scanning this girl up and down, checking for any sign of weapons or obvious special powers. She was right, afterall, she was just an unarmed butterfly. He felt slightly foolish, but acted cool about it, forcing the blade of ice to release from his hand and fall to the ground. Ootu stood up straight, dusted himself off slightly, then cleared his throat.

"Point has been noted," he finally said, "it is obvious that you have no attachment with Avious. He wouldn't take in someone with.. abilities so apparent as yours."

Tsunami let out a long sigh of relief as her body relaxed. Her gold eyes looking at him as she took to the air and flew over to where he was. She landed right in front of him as she skipped tot he side and crouched at the edge of the roof. She looked over the edge and down at the people walking below. A small breeze blowing by, causing her hair to sway with it. Tsunami lookd back over at the blue boy and smiled.

"So, that' what has you all gloomed and doomed," Tsunami said making a not in her mind as she looked at him with a smile on her face. Her head tilting to the side a bit as moved her wings lightly. "I'm Tsunami."

"My problems are my problems alone. So do not even bother trying to get any information out of me," it was a harsh remark, but people needed to be put into their place sometime, "my name, however, is Ootu."

He folded his arms in front of his chest and snarled slightly, not liking this cheery butterfly act one bit. She had that whole innocent feel about her, quite frankly, it made Ootu very edgy. He had been around this type before, they were always waiting for someone to trust them, then they would turn around and stick a six inch dagger into your arm; he had a scar to prove it. That girl worked for Pinco, who worked for Avious. It was one big happy circle, which Ootu happily stuck a monkey wrench into.

"Now, I will ask the questions," he spoke up, authority in his tone, "what are you doing up here? I know it's not just to see why I was worked up."

Tsunami laughed a bit to herself after hearing his words. She couldn't help it, the way he acted was just so funny. He was really paranoid. Who knows, he might question the spoon in his bowl why it was there and what was its inttentions. The small scene played htrough her mind causing her to clamp both hands over her mouth and laugh. Tears welling up in her eyes as she bent her head low and laughed into her hands. Her shoulders shaking with the action. Oh god! She could be so funny. Tsunami looked back over to the boy as she wiped the tears from her face.

"Shoot," Tsunami said waiting to hear the questions he had for her. A silly grin on her face the whole time. She chuckled from time to time, though she did her best to make it stop. Looking at him didn't help. Her cheeks were red with surpressed laughter and were starting to hurt. She heard the inquiry on why she was here and opened her mouth to tell her answer. "I was out flying. That and running from a giant fly swatter. Did you know they make those things the size of a ladder?"

She smiled laughing a bit.

Ootu narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth as she tried to surpress her laughter. He had half a mind to create another blade of ice and decapitate her, right then and there. But he resisted, didn't need to draw any attention to himself, especially if she was working for Avious in some way. He kept his distance from her, still not fully sure of her intentions and not even really buying her story one bit. Ootu watched her with unblinking eyes, surveying her, studying her movements, but all she seemed to be doing was laughing; laughing at him. His anger began to flare and he balled up his hands into fists. Who did this girl think she was? Probably belonged to some rich family and was used to laughing at others for her own amusement.

Ootu, with as much sarcasm as he could muster, laughed along with her, "Oh, yes, aren't you quite the comedian. Ha.. ha.. ha. Pardon me if I give myself a heart attack. Now answer my question. It's not that hard of one, your mind can process it, can't it? Shall I ask it slower?"

Tsunami turned her back to him and clamped her hands over her mouth to stop the fit of giggles that had ceazed her. She couldn't help it! Summoning all the dignity she had left, Tsunami turned around to face him once more. Again, her cheeks went red but she managed to keep a calm face during hte whole time she stared at him. He was waaaaay to paranoind. Why didn't he believe her? He could certainly see she was a butterfly, why not believe that there were fly swatters the length of a ladder?!

"That's the truth. And if you say it sower, I just might end up laughing all over again. I was out flying! Hello? Wings here buddy!" Tsunami grinned pointing to her butterfly wings as she looked at him and tilted her head to the side a bit. Really, he had no common sense. Fine, he didn't have to believe her. She was only trying to be nice after all but he was making it reaally hard. He acted as though something had gotten stuc between his legs. "I'm sorry if I'm being rude but you're not exactly Mr. Marry sunshine either. I'm telling you the truth, hell, I don't care if you believe me or not. You're just tooooooo uptight!"

Granted, this was not helping the situation with, especially with her constantly taughting him and telling him what he was or how he was acting. Ootu wasn't going to stand for it much longer, in fact, if one more comment directed towards him was even remotely bashing, he was going to see to it that this butterfly had her wings clipped. Ootu tried to calm himself, taking in a deep breath through his nostrils and closed his eyes.

Calm yourself, Ootu, the last thing you need is get a mob after you. Mobs draw attention and in this school, attention draws world intervention. Just relax and try not to let her get under your skin.

"I'm not your buddy, I'm not up tight, but I am getting pissed off. Now, unless you want to be walking from A to B, then end your mocking now," he wasn't shouting like before, this time it was more suttle and controlled, "fine, so you are a butterfly and you were flying away from a fly swatter, shame it missed, I believe that story for the time being."

Tsunami watched Ootu's facial expressions. Hearing his words made her grin lengthen somewhat.

"It's a figure of speech, jeez," Tsunami replied with a grin as she watched him and lightly tapped the base of her chin. Oh, he was much calmer now but she knew was pretty angry at her. Hey, the truth wasn't pretty thing at times. His comment about the fly swatter missing made her chuckle. She knew he was trying to get her made but it was a waste of effort. "Believe what you want. I have nothing else to tell you...except you have a serious attitude problem..."

The last words were said under breathe. A small mischevious grin coming across her face as she whistled innocently to herself.
