OOC: This is taken from "Jake's Room: Coast to Coast", which was open as well, but now over. If you want in this, go right ahead. However, you might get left behind...

IC>>>>>

((James Bond Theme))

(It had taken some time to locate a place that seemed fit the bill. Jake was confident that the establishment they were approaching was the one...after looking into five others that weren't it. Jake was looking nothing special at this point. He was just in his black jeans and shirt, wearing a light jacket of also dark colors. The place they were going to was just a couple more alleys away, and he thought he'd check up on something else he'd heard about on the way... Jake had had a car before now, but it had gone missing a while ago. Now, it appeared that he might have found it...but something was trying to break in!)

Jake: Wait! Don't do that!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

(Too late. Jake's car had been an Aston Martin that a rich guy had given him as a reward for saving his life. He'd pumped it up with a bunch of spy devices for the express purpose of using it as a James Bond-like spy car. The self-destruct device...was already implanted. MI5 was gonna kill him...)

Jake: Aw man... They blew up my car....

(They could see the place they were looking for now. There was a sign out front, just above the bouncers, who were not human.)

The Golgotha

(The bouncers who were not human were a classic case of metahumanity; trolls. Both of them were in pinstripe suits like they were in the Mafia and probably had the same amount of sophistication as two-bit hitmen. They weren't the friendly type and they weren't the let-you-in-on-merit-alone type either. Jake wondered just what DID get you into a place like this...)

There was something about trekking around from one sleazy bar to another that just put Diana on edge. She hadn’t expected this to be an easy task by any means but morals hope started to dwindle as they ventured from one place to another in search of... well she wasn’t sure who it was. All Diana knew is that they were looking for an English guy in a trench coat. Can we say needle in a haystack? At least she had dressed appropriately, or so she thought. Sticking with the idea of a casual black business suit she opted for the pants instead of the skirt and that’s exactly what she had been walking around in the whole time, even finishing off the look by pulling her hair up in to a tight twist. She also didn’t forget one of the last comments he made about being prepared for anything. For that she had secured her collapsible bo within the inside pocket of her jacket, just in case.

Aside from that she was actually having a good time. Not being one to ever grace the alleys of the Kabuki-Cho District she was learning her way around rather well. She didn’t even mind the side tracking they did to look for Jake’s missing car. Unfortunately, that excursion ended going up in smoke, literally. Being appreciative of autos in general she had to frown slightly as the beautiful machine was destroyed. Such a pity, such a waste.

“Wow...” That was the reaction to the explosion, as she was lacking better words at the moment. “Sorry about your car.”

Diana peered up at the sign for a moment. ‘The Golgotha’ as it was named certainly seemed to fit the bill. If this guy wasn’t here then she’d just be ready to give up on this little mission. Her crimson eyes trailed down until they landed on the bouncers. Once again a white eyebrow quirked as she looked at Jake skeptically for a moment.

“Now what?”

“Now what?”

Jake: Now...? Well...they look like they're suppose to keep out the riff-raff, but...I wonder what kind of riff-raff...

(That being said, Jake briskly walks up to the door intent upon just walking right in, not even giving the bouncers any attention whatsoever. He's even whistling cheerfully, which is exactly the WRONG thing to do at a place like this. The trolls give him a look, like they don't know if he's out of his mind or just plain stupid, and step in the way. Jake almost comically bounces off the bouncers for their sudden motion. He figured them to be slow, but they weren't.)

Bouncer 1: No enter without der right cr'dentals.

Jake: Dentals? Teeth?

(The troll spoke with a deeply resounding voice, something that alot of big trolls came with, since they were known for their big lungs. His colleague was a bit more intelligent, though...)

Bouncer 2: He means credentials, de right stuff. You know...

Jake: What? Money? You don't look the bribing type.

B2: No no no... Dis is Golgotha, a pit of de damned! You gotta be de right KIND of person to come in here!

Jake: What? You mean like a meta-human?

B2: Errr...

B1: Ummm...

B2: Yeah.

Jake: Oh, well that's easy then. I'm not an ordinary human, and neither is my friend.

B1: Prove it!

(Okay, so they had to prove it. Go figure with these weirdo bars... Jake personally decided to do a bit of Riverdance at first with his greater-than-normal speed, but the trolls hated it and he had to do something else. Finally, he just gave them a taste of wind by a flick of his fingers. The power of his sword, Ixyzion, allowed varying elemental powers for him, after all. Thus satisfied, Jake went to move on ahead after Diana did her bit and...they stopped him again!)

Both Trolls: No weapons!

Jake: No weapons?! What am I suppose to use, then? Bad language?

B2: It couldn't hurt.

Jake: Oh, shut up...

Even as he attempted to walk in, they stopped him, now she had to wonder what the problem was and if this would completely halt their plans. Of course, they started explaining the reason behind the action and watching the exchange between Jake and the Trolls made Diana feel as if she had stepped in to another world. There was always a catch, this time it seemed to be in their favor though. They were meta-humans, that was for sure and it seemed not to be a problem for Jake to express himself in the most comical way possible. She found his rendition of Riverdance rather amusing; too bad the Trolls had no taste about them or they would have appreciated the show. It also made for a good mental note to remember not to challenge Jake to race, not if he could move that fast. It seemed all was well after his little display of wind too.

This eventual left Diana to prove to them she was a meta as well. With a heavy sigh, she turned her full attention to the first troll, the one with the poor language skills. Mimicking was the best form of flattery right, and who better to do that than a shape shifter? Within a matter of seconds, the girl had shifted her form to match the troll’s inch for inch, and she looked just as menacing, if not just as ugly in a pinstripe suit. With a grunt, she made a show of straightening the lapel, as if it mattered. Oh, but she didn’t stop there, as once again she shifted from that of a troll to a replica of Jake himself. Crossing her arms, she looked at the two with a cheeky grin, feeling more like a performing monkey now than anything.

“Now then…”

The voice that came out held the same octaves and masculinity that Jake’s did and it even shocked her for a moment. It had been a while since she’d done this. Letting it go, she found herself back to her own body, and thankfully so. She didn’t exactly want to go traipsing about as someone else, unless she had to. Straightening her own suit jacket a bit, she felt more at home, literally, in her own skin.

“…I do hope that was enough of a show for you.” She looked up to the trolls then to Jake and back again with a pleasant smile on her face. “So are we good to go gentlemen?”

“…I do hope that was enough of a show for you. So are we good to go gentlemen?”

(The change into the form of a troll in the same suit had confused the bouncers at first, then they had caught on as soon as she had transformed into Jake. It was clear that she could mimic just about anyone in form, which was rather impressive. In fact, so impressed were the trolls that they began to clap. Jake had been impressed and a bit shocked by seeing himself. Did he really look so cocky? Awfully weird... Anyway, the trolls answered by pointing out Jake's obvious problem.)

B1: Still can't have any of dem weapons.

Jake: Alright, alright...

(Jake held up the sword that was on his back and then, after flipping it around with great finesse, he made it disappear. That was just a trick of course. It wasn't really gone. It was making use of its ability to merge with him, contain the magic sword's power inside of himself. No big deal.)

Jake: Satisfied?

B2: Not really. You see, we've been trained to be able to tell when someone's armed an' you've got more on ya then dat sword of yers. You know... Like dat pair a' long daggers in yer coat, da' pocket knives in yer pockets, and da' book a' sorcery dat we can smell shoved up the back of yer coat.

(Was Jake this well-armed? Well, sort of. The pocket knives were his Swiss Army knife and a genuine pocket knife. The long-daggers WERE long-daggers, but they were also accompanied by an umbrella, and the book shoved up the back of his coat was the Necronomicon.)

Jake: I needed the guy to have a look at it.

B1: You can have yer stuff back when youse are done inside.

Jake: Can I keep the umbrella?

Both Trolls: No.

Jake: But it's just an umbrella...

(Of course, stepping inside, Jake would mutter that it was, in fact, a titanium-reinforced umbrella capable of deflecting a rain of human beings if necessary. The last time he recalled using it was to deflect Kari Bluemoon some time ago. The Golgotha bar was dark on the inside and filled with several tables and a main bar area. The back of the bar had an eerie blue glow to it. Nobody here was entirely human and several were not even close. For instance, it might interest them to know that in this bar, there was a demon in the form of human who was not only the user of a psychic Jagan Eye, but an enemy of the Englishman they sought. However, said Englishman must have had no idea that this guy was here, because he was sitting quite innocently by himself, watching the floor show. This was the guy. He was in the trench coat, with rough blonde hair, and he smelled of bad juju from where Jake stood.)

Jake: That's the guy. If anyone around here knows anything about the book without being a real pain in the ass, it's him.

Patient as ever she waited for the trolls to finish stripping Jake of his mini-armory. She had to wonder why they were so apt for him to discard his weapons. He didn’t look menacing, not to her, and she would have felt a bit better had he been able to keep them. Either way the two eventually found their way in to the bar. Of course, Diana took a moment and realized that the trolls hadn’t confiscated her bo, lucky her, it was small enough to look like nothing more that a cigar case at the moment. She wasn’t about to say anything about it, as it was safely tucked away, that would have been a bit dumb on her part. She only hoped it wouldn’t be needed. For one she was terribly out of practice and two she didn’t exactly have the fighting spirit in her today.

Her eyes took their dear time adjusting to the light inside. It was so dim she had to ponder if the lights were even on. The smell of alcohol, and smoke filled her nostrils. She could have done without those two things. There was something about the scents that left her unsettled, but she wouldn’t say a word. As long as she didn’t have to drink it or smoke it she would be happy and sober. Looking around she observed the people, and made a mental note of the exits. Her attention quickly turned back to Jake and the man to which he was referring. Quirking an eyebrow she had to ask herself if he was serious. The guy looked perfectly normal. Diana had expected a creepy character capable of scaring her silly, not a normal sane looking man. Mentally shrugging she let the shock pass to a mild appreciation for the normality.

“So I guess this is the part where we go make friends and request his assistance?”

“So I guess this is the part where we go make friends and request his assistance?”

Jake: Yeah, I think that's about right.

(Looking left and right for just a moment, seeing if anything was looking at him or preparing to lunge at him, Jake stepped towards the Englishman's table. As he approached it, there were two things a immediately noticed. First, he felt the presence of more than just these bad vibes around the guy. And second, he was talking to thin air.)

"Of course I can tell a demon when I see one. He's sitting over there with a drink an' I can't do a thing about him at this present time. Bastards took me guns an' that's that."

(Whoever he was talking to was clearly inaudible and invisible to the rest of the world.)

Jake: Am I disturbing something?

"A long-distance call, that's all."

(Jake frowned.)

Jake: How long?

"Straight past the mortal coil an' into the land of the dead."

Jake: Oh, I see.

(It was clear that the man was talking to a spirit, which would explain that odd feeling he had. When it finally dissipated, the Englishman was able to speak to the living once more.)

"Who are you, what do you want, and why are you a demon?"

(He wanted an answer from both of them on that.)

Jake: Jake Mulcahy, information, and I'm only a half-demon. Now, who are you?

"Name's John. I deal with all your under-the-radar evil happenings whenever I see them."

(There was a somewhat evil grin coming from the man. He was not, perse, evil, but he had clearly had a few interesting tendancies rubbed off on him in the past. So, they had met their mystery man, but would he know anything about the Book of the Dead? He looked the type...)

OOC: Guess who it is yet?

Common sense told her not to let a great deal of distance come between Jake and she. Sticking close but yet remaining respectful to his personal space she too noticed that something was a bit off. Unlike Jake, she didn’t necessarily sense any bad vibes. There were far too many coming from all around them for her to truly notice. What caught her attention was that the man was indeed talking, but to whom? Looking about she knew very well that her eyesight was top notch as it had ever been, aside from the aid of reading glasses but that was beside the point.

Quirking an eyebrow she had to wonder if the guy was insane or if she was just missing something. Watching the exchange take place between Jake and the mystery man made everything eerily clear. That same chill ran down her back at the thought of someone communicating with the dead. It seemed she was gathering more information as well. Diana hadn’t known Jake was a half-demon, but then again she had never asked. It didn’t matter much, demon, meta-human, whatever label you gave him he was still Jake. Now she suddenly felt as if she should be standing at attention and saluting.

“Diana McClure, to help Jake find what he’s looking for,…” The last part caught her off guard, she wasn’t a demon and that question prompted a slight pause. Maybe he had only been referring to Jake on that one. “..and I’m no demon.”

No, she was 100% meta-human that was for sure. Looking at the man that they now knew as John, and the way he was grinning, she had to wonder just what was going through his head. Furthermore, how much and what it would cost them to get the information that they were looking for. After all, everything came with a price.

OOC: No problem, regarding the post. And yeah, it's Constantine. That smarmy bastard has been a favorite of mine for some time now. Well...it's not really the original guy. See, the timeline of AHS is somewhat past John's time, so I took a liberty with the Constantine Curse and made up John The Third, here.

IC>>>>>

John: Of course you're no demon. I knew that just by looking, just like I knew about him.

(The demon comment was aimed totally at Jake, because his demeanor for when he faced Diana was a little less like business and a little more like a pleasure. John looked like he had a real handle on what he was talking about. Jake asked him if he was too busy to give them some help on an issue of their own.)

John: Depends on what it is.

Jake: Ever heard of the Book of the Dead?

John: Plenty of them. There's always some high-an'-mighty bastard of the occult who wants his personal diary to sound more important than it is. What's so special about yours?

Jake: Well, I didn't write it, is that's what you mean.

John: Cheers. Who did?

(Take things from John's perspective. Half of the magic he ran up against was overrated, and the other half was really fucking dangerous. He had to give Jake a thumbs up for not being the author of any tome of evil. Jake went on to explain that it was an ancient Sumerian text bound in flesh and written in blood.)

John: They all do, mate. Flesh an' blood is par for the course. The Sumerian scripts stand out, though. What's it summon?

Jake: Candarian Demons.

John: Bloody marvelous... So, what do you two need from me, exactly?

Quirking an eyebrow she caught the change in him, if only for a second. No, Diana was no demon. If anything, she was her father’s deranged excuse for a science experiment. Better yet, his attempt at tampering in the gene pool, but that was an issue that would have to be addressed later. There was a lot to be said for observation. It tended to reveal more about a person than what they would probably like. For instance, the conversation going on between John and Jake was revealing on quite a few levels. Jake seemed rather straightforward and bluntly direct enough without being rude, both good qualities to have when you wanted something, and she had to respect John, since he seemed to be a business-oriented man when it came down to it.

Maybe this little adventure would go over smoother than she thought. Aside from the trolls at the door, she had to admit it wasn’t as bad as she had initially thought. Maybe that was wishful thinking on her part, but she was entitled to it. Thinking about the flesh and blood proved to sink that ship though. Diana didn’t have a weak stomach but the thought was enough to make even her think twice. Looking to John, she tilted her head ever so slightly as she crossed her arms over her chest, no need to keep the man waiting.

“There is a page missing, and we were hoping you might be able to point us in the right direction to retrieve it, if that's even possible.”

(John had regarded the issue with fair professionalism, smacking around a bit of fun for the kids while they explained. This bloke with the demon blood in 'im was bein' on the level about the book, but he wasn't the evil type. There were some of John's own qualities in that guy. Problem was that the qualities of a Constantine consisted of getting people killed or worse. The boy was playin' with demon fire. Still, he couldn't just tell 'em to push off if he had the answer, could he?)

John: It's possible. It just isn't easy. See, if you've got a handle on the demons from the book, you can get THEM to-

Jake: Won't work. It's the page that banishes them from this world.

John: Oh. Well, out of all the hard ways, that one might've been the fastest...

Jake: What makes it so hard?

John: You'd have to let 'em loose on people. Candarians are like kids. They got bad tempers, scream an' shout alot, and want more than anything to tear things apart.

Jake: Ah, I see. What were the other ways?

John: Well, I know an oracle who's got a good bead on these things. Problem is, he can't do anything right now. He's being blocked.

Jake: Blocked by what?

John: The third eye of a demon. I've been trying to get this guy for some time now, but his eye maintains a human disguise, blocks all psychics in a mile radius, and can drive people mad.

Jake: You want us to help you so you can help us?

John: That's right.

Jake: Where IS this demon?

John: At a table behind me.

Jake: ...what?

(Their trench coated 'business partner' was referring to the man that was sitting at a table some distance from his table. He was in the form of a man, looking...somewhat familiar to them. The demon's name was Jonus Landen, and he posed as a doctor of psychology. In truth, he was a hideous demon with a Jagan Eye. John wanted that guy dead for alot of reasons, and needed that eye taken out at the very least to get any descent work done.)

Well at least it wasn’t completely hopeless, not yet anyway. Hearing that John could indeed help them was enough to lift even her spirits. Funny how fate always seemed to come in and smash them to bits just moments afterwards. No sooner had she thought this would turn out to be somewhat simple did she realize that yet again her assumptions had made her the proverbial ass, if only in her mind. Diana didn’t flinch a bit on the exterior, but inside she was choking when she heard John bring up the demon and the fact that said demon was sitting not but a few feet away from them now. Eventually she looked away from John, nonchalantly casting her gaze around the room to remain inconspicuous. Given this was a bar, and there were quite the assortment of males around, it wouldn’t have been too obvious to her as to whom they were speaking of had John not blatantly given his location.

Well it wasn’t too much to ask for, or so she thought. If the guy was giving him trouble someone needed to take care of him, now she just had to ask herself what was she getting out of all this? Diana had never been one to think that way in the first place and ask herself those questions so it was quickly dismissed when she recalled the thrill of the chase at hand. There was a novice treasure hunter lurking within her and she couldn’t ignore it, as much as she wanted to. Looking from John to Jake she sighed lightly, realizing that at this point she couldn’t do much of anything.

“Well it’s your call Jake, what do you want to do?”

“Well it’s your call Jake, what do you want to do?”

Jake: Well, you don't have to tackle this if you don't want to. I think I can handle one demon, even if it's a tough one. So, what kind of hell does he hail from?

John: Not sure. I've been having a word or two with the other side an' none of them seem to know this guy. He's different from other demons, too. None of the usual demon wards seem to help, holy energy is a joke, and he's got some kind of corruptive force that's unlike anything I ever saw in hell.

Jake: Oh, thanks alot. You want me to go after this guy without even knowing what to expect?

John: Why not? I did. Bail Fire bound to bullets can put some decent holes in 'im. Problem is, he likes to lead me on a chase, runnin' away and killin' people along the way.

Jake: Sadistic bastard... Alright, I'll do this, but you'd better deliver.

John: No worries, mate. You'll get exactly what you need. Just wait for ole' Landen to step outside. This club allows demonkind in as customers.

(It was then that Jonus Landen decided to stop nursing his drink, finish it off, and make for the door. Jake had decided to help out John's little problem. How far he would take it was unknown. Constantines had a habit of getting the people around them killed. Jake didn't know that, but Landen was a sure bet that someone could die in this. Jake followed him and heard him speaking to the bouncers.)

Landen: I had a scalpel when I walked in.

B1: We....errr.....ummm...busted it.

Landen: What? Why?

B2: It bent in his pocket. Sorry about dat.

Landen: You incompetent... I should kill you for that. Do you realize what they'll dock me at the school for a scalpel?!

(They both shrugged, but Landen began to storm off, just as Jake exited, asking for his weapons back...)

It was times like this Diana had to ask herself where she’d be better off at. There were only two choices. The first was stay where she was at, the other, go out and try to help Jake eliminate that demon. The question now was would she really be any help, or just be in the way? Unless she could touch him physically she’d be out of luck, but he didn’t feel right by just letting Jake go out on his own like that but he seemed hell bent on it. She dealt in people and information, not demons and magic. Why now? Her conscience could be a real pain in the arse when it wanted to be. She’d make a note to lock it away later. For now Jake had already gone after the target, and Diana decided to just ignore her gut and take a seat, which is exactly what she did. If Jake needed her he would let her know, or so she hoped.

Diana sat there, on the exterior, she appeared calm and collected, but inside she was frustrated. Aside from her own personal issues now, she had a whole new set to deal with. First off, she was in a bar, not exactly the most ideal spot but she was here. Secondly Jake had gone out on his own and that was still playing a big part in her woes as she glanced once more to the door.

Maybe I should have gone after him.

Turning back to look at John, she had to quirk an eyebrow at the man for a moment. He was quite the oddity.

“If you don’t mind me asking, how exactly did you get in to this sort of business?”
Naturally, Diana had enough intelligence to put things in perspective and she could tell that John here was quite the knowledgeable chap on demons. He seemed to be so nonchalant when speaking of them, that was all it took to put the idea in her head.

“If you don’t mind me asking, how exactly did you get in to this sort of business?”

John: Well, to be perfectly honest, I never had much of a choice in the matter.

(It was kind of difficult to explain to some people, but he tried to anyway. Either she'd get it or she wouldn't, and that was that. John picked up a drink he'd ordered, took a length sip, and then got down to explaining the driving force of magic in his life, in his own fashion of course.)

John: It's something that dates back to me distant ancestors, sort of a curse, you could call it. One of 'em had an intense desire to meddle in the world of magic, so much so that he made a deal with the dark forces of that day to get into it. Nasty end for him, I heard, but one of the provisions for the deal was that there would be a desire to meddle in magic throughout the family, all down the generations.

(Another sip of his drink, then a wry grin.)

John: Sort of a compulsion, really. It's like smoking. You keep it up, even though it's bad for your health. And if you try an' quit... Well, the magic won't let you quit. You can't jus' stop believing in demons. They believe in you after all. So, like all my ilk before me, I found I had a talent an' I used it before even knowing what I was getting into. That's how it always was. Since then, I've been doing what I can, knowing that there's alot more out there than heaven and Earth.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(Not very far from where the actual bar was, Jonus Landen stopped. He knew he was being followed. He'd known ever since the youth had asked for all his weapons back. He stopped because confrontation with said youth was inevitable. Fortunately, the trolls wouldn't care what happened OUTSIDE the bar. That wasn't their job. Landen turned to face Jake, who was just putting away the Necronomicon.)

Landen: What are you doing?

Jake: Uhhh....demon-hunting?

Landen: You're kidding...

Jake: Nope.

Landen: I see...

Jake: Well, aren't you going to-

RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!!!

(Jake was going to say "attack", when Landen already did! In a split second, his third eye had opened and a triple rapid-fire energy barrages short forth from his fiery eyes. The Vulcanizer was what this attack was called, forcing Jake to fling himself out of the way, pulling out his sword, and trying to get around this guy. Meanwhile, the trolls just kinda'...watched.)

She knew exactly what is was to not have a choice. Her whole existence was granted by the simple whim. Diana, was nothing more than an idea. Too bad, she didn’t fit the mold they had made for her. Granted she didn’t carry any sort of lineage or curse as the man before her. For that, she was thankful. Listening to him, she found her mind wandering and trying to look at the world through his eyes. It must have been both exciting and frightening to be in his line of work. Deeply intrigued she leaned forward, crossing her arms as she rested them on the table taking on the appearance of a child whom was being told some highly entertaining story.

“Some of us are born to find our paths, others are born with there paths laid out for them.”

That would be dubbed her most metaphorical comment of the day. Diana didn’t truly want to think about the things she’d knew she would never understand. He was right, there was more than just heaven and Earth, there was a hell too. However, the boundaries of such things were enough of an explanation to suit her just fine. For once, her curiosity would be halted for the namesake of her sanity. Yes, Diana understood John’s situation a bit more then he may have realized, but that wasn’t truly the issue now. Casting another glance to the door, she felt her stomach knot up again at the thought of letting Jake go out on his own. Looking back to John, she sat back in her chair, folding her hands neatly over each other politely as they slid down to her lap.

“Do you think I should go after him? I’m not used to just sitting back like this.”

Usually the white haired girl didn’t ask such questions. Diana normally stood firm on her decisions, but guilt seemed to be the only thing that caused her to waiver.

“Do you think I should go after him? I’m not used to just sitting back like this.”

(John gave this a bit of thought. Not that he was actually thworing any deep contemplation into it. He was just making himself look very thoughtful while coming up with a snap answer on issue he'd rather not deal with. To him, if you had to ask that sort of thing, you didn't really need to know. 'Course, on the basis of Jake's fighting capabilities, he probably stands a chance...except that he doesn't know twat about Landen besides his Jagan Eye.)

John: Well, Landen's always been good at givin' people a rough time. I bet he'd really hate to have one himself.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(By now, several cars had gone up in flames or melted. Jonus Landen's eye-beams had the capacity of heavy plasma rifles. He was keeping ahead of the shots, though, and thinking of a plan. THis guy was firing where he was looking. If he could get him to look at something else, Jake could get in closer.)

Jake: Look! Shiny object!

Landen: Shut up and fry!

Jake: Heh heh.

(Landen's words carried the greatest carriage of irony since "What could possibly go wrong?" At the very moment he said those words, a bolt of lightning came down from the sky - shiny object - and zapped him from behind, knocking him forwards onto the ground. Jake ran in, sword drawn, and...)

Jake: Now, it's time to d- Uh oh.

(He was halfway there when Landen's body began to stretch and tear. Underneath a cheap human exterior, there was a much larger interior. A black-skinned demon, ten feet in height, came out of that man. It wasn't from hell and it didn't have hooves, but it was a demon, just the same. The long, gray tusk-like teeth... The three fiery eyes... Those meaty arms that could put some serious hurt on the TROLLS... Jake now faced a foe that was twice his height and powered by...unknown properties!)

Diana could have smacked herself for even asking. As soon as the question left her lips she felt not only slightly embarrassed, but also borderline stupid for even have asked him. Shaking her head, she could only imagine what John was thinking now. Knowing fully well she wouldn’t care either way was enough to settle her doubt and as the statement left his own mouth she found herself nodding and standing from her seat at the table.

“Well then, I suppose I should go and see what I can do to help the situation.”

In gesture of adieu, Diana tilted her head towards the man before making her way through and out of the bar. She could distinctly hear the sounds of fighting and smell smoke. Shaking her head, the girl shifted quickly to her feline form and bounded down the street to where Jake was facing Mr. Landen. Upon arriving she was granted a better view of the scene before her. Landen was no where in sight, in his place stood what had to be the ugliest and most menacing looking creature Diana had encountered in quite sometime. Knowing fully well even in her human form she wouldn’t prove much of a match against that she decided a bit of distraction was in order.

There was something to be said for the streets of the Kabuki-cho District. They were filty. Aside form the normal dumpsters and trashcans one would find there was a slew of other things, such as boxes and bags, all providing a rather nice cover for one so small. Of course getting through all of this took some effort on her part, but once free of the grunge Diana found herself to be on the backside of the fight, a perfect place to start a distraction.

“Hey! Tall dark and ugly!” Taunting Landen from behind she was hoping to grab his attention and give Jake a chance to finish him off, that is, if Landen would pay attention to a talking cat. Now she just needed to make sure she didn’t get herself hurt in the process and this day wouldn’t turn out half bad. “I was wondering if you're really as dumb as you look, or if you're just that good of an actor?”

“Hey! Tall dark and ugly! I was wondering if you're really as dumb as you look, or if you're just that good of an actor?”

(Did he miss something here? WHen did Diana exit the bar? Jake was a little too busy with Landen to notice that the solitary feline had come on out and snuck behind the demon. Something about Landen...clogged the extra senses. That eye... His Jagan Eye really WAS detrimental to the mind! So now, Diana was creating a diversion and...Landen wasn't turning aroud just yet. His hand was held up and a concentrated blackness began to form into a ball of energy.)

Jake: Which one of he going to- Diana, look out!

(He shouted just as the demon turned to fling the ball of darkness down at the cat-formed Diana. It stank of corruption and defilement. It was a killer ball, for sure. However, this DID allow Jake to attack Landen more directly. It's just that he was doing it to try and spoil his aim. His Ixyzion blade charged with lightning, he slammed the sword into Landen's body. He grunted in pain, but his large body didn't lurch very far. Also...)

Jake, get me out of this creature RIGHT NOW!! It's burning!!

Jake: What do you mean, Ixyzion? YOU'RE a demon!

He's not the same, Jake! He's the very essence of death and defilement!

(In their mental conversation, the sword and the master realize just how different Landen is...and why Constantine has been having so much difficulty...)

Diana had expected anything, anything at all, some sort of retaliation from the beast. It was a good thing Diana maintained a level of alertness at all times, and even better as it heightened at times like this. Had Diana not been so aware she never would have noticed what the creature was doing. Dirty and underhanded moves were expected, and she wasn’t at all surprised when it turned its sites on her sending an attack her way. That had been the plan after all. With her cat reflexes and natural attentiveness, Diana was well out of harms way as she leapt away from the blast unfortunately she couldn’t say much for the ground.

Being highly aware and much obliged to Jake for the fair warning she looked to him to check on any and all progress but found his expression quite odd. As a look of concern crossed her own features, she noted the blade that penetrated the demon, but not being privy to any further information she couldn’t place the pause in him. Looking to the demon then to Jake, she wasn’t too sure what to do by this point except pry for more information.

“Jake is there something I’m missing here or were you trying to add a dramatic affect?”

Jake: Well, if you really must know...

(He wasn't speaking in the sense of being vexed or angered by her question, but more like something else was causing him some sort of stress. He pulled the blade free from the back of the demon...and then held it away from him in surprise. He saw - Diana saw - the blade reacting to something hideously dark. There was lightning blasting out from it against a swirling, infectious darkness, the demon's blood. it was trying to corrupt the blade. This may have sounded a little too far-fetched, considering what kind of sword this was, but there are darker things out their than elemental demons... Finally, the blood was vaporized and the sword was safe. But it was not ready to be stabbed into the demon's body again. Not until IT grew in strength... Jake put away Ixyzion and faced off against the three-eyed monster before him.)

Jake: Alright, what the hell are you?

Landen: Hell has nothing to do with me, those self-righteous fools...

(Jake snapped out his hand at the larger foe and projected a fist-blast of wind at him. The demon lurched, as if struck by a fist. He did not seem to be hurt very much by that. The attack was more like an attempt to keep Landen's mind on track and less intimidating.)

Jake: I'm not going to ask you again.

Landen: And I'm not giving you an answer!

(A sudden blast of fire erupted from Landen's mouth. He was a fire-breather?! Whho knows what else he had... This, however, was one of his least powerful abilities, and only flung out because he was angry. Jake blasted right back with his own fire, the black-and-orange flames from the Desolation Claw. Waves of heat came off of the struggling pair of fire-projectors, waiting for something to tip the balance...)

Watching everything unfold Diana’s eyes widened at the graveness of the situation. What she was seeing was… well, frightening to say the least. Not knowing anything beyond the fact that the blade was Jakes and allotted him certain powers, she didn’t understand why the blood was attempting to corrupt it. Enough was enough and it was quite clear that the blade would be out of commission for a while and that left little room for hope. Regardless something had to be done. While Jake was busy trying to get information, Diana did a number of things. Firstly, she came out of the cat form. It wasn’t going to serve any purpose here unless she needed a quick escape, but that wasn’t the issue now. Secondly, she took off the jacket to her suit, no need to get it dirty. Third and last, she retrieved the bo she had hidden in her pocket. Bringing it out she flicked her wrist and it expanded out in both directions. Taking a moment to get a feel for the weapon she turned her full attention back towards Jake and his er… friend.

Diana had a fear of a few things. Luckily, fire wasn’t one of them so to see the two facing off with flames wasn’t much of a shock. What would be at this point? There was a demon and a couple of metas in an alley fighting. Residing herself to the simple fact she would end up getting clobbered sooner or later she wasn’t going to hold anything back. The dead lock had to be broken, and who better to do that then she? A quick dash had Diana sprinting towards Landen, bo held with both hands in a tight grasp. It looked as if Diana was going to just ram full speed in to him, but that wasn’t the case. She pole-vaulted over Landen, coming up and over him from behind, in her decent she twisted sharply sending somewhat of a spinning back kick aimed for his throat and following through with her bo aimed at his head. One move, two well aimed blows, and hopefully it would provide enough distraction for Jake to think of something else or just make Landen that much angrier. If anything she hoped the flames were over with, being burned to a crisp wouldn’t feel too nice at this point.

(It was a matter of fact that, at the moment, the flames were the plan at this time. Jake was using the flames because they furthered the use of Landen's flames, mostly because it was a good and predictable tempermental response. It was a matter of fact that Jake was waiting for something to distract the demon so that he could get a faceful of fire. These flames were TOASTY, even to fire elementals. As soon as Diana had struck his throat and head, Landen's fire was put to a halt and Jake's came through as Diana got out of the way.)

Landen: FFFWWWAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

(Black-and-orange fire swept into Landen's face, causing him to flail around and try to put it out. By the time he managed it, Jake realized something. There was an oppression on his mind and his senses...and was lifting! He turned to face the demon, now that the fire was out... Yup! His Jagan Eye was a fused lump in his forehead, totally out of commission. He noticed this and grunted angrily...right before leaping high enough to grab onto the roof of a low building and pull himself up. He was gone. Jake heard clapping from behind.)

John: Couldn't have done 'im better myself.

(Their trenchcoated ally was standing by the door of the bar, clapping at them. Jake noticed that the two troll bouncers were down and...their heads had imploded and turned inside out!)

Jake: Uhhh, John? What happened to those guys?

(John Constantine looked back at them, and then looked at Jake with a devilish grin.)

John: D'you really wanna know? B)

Jake: Not really... -_-

Diana managed to land safely while moving clear of Jake’s attack. Being on the side lines once more gave her a clear view of Landen. Whatever amusement there could have been gained from this certainly found Diana. Mentally she was laughing as Landen struggled to put the flames out. Served him right for causing so much trouble, or so she mused. However, a slight frown didn’t escape her as Landen made his escape, but it was no use. The job was done, no one ever said anything about killing him, and Diana wasn’t in that business. With it all over, she retrieved her jacket, replacing the bo just as it had been before slipping it on and smoothing out her hair.

The sound of clapping had caught in her ear, but she never took the time to acknowledge who was making the noise until now. Turning around to catch the conversation her eyes darted over to the two trolls. This day just kept getting stranger and stranger. Knowing fully well she would only be asking for trouble if she even dared question what could happen next, she decided not to. Though she thoroughly agreed with Jake on this one, she really didn’t want to know, and with a light sigh she turned a serious gaze to John. As far as Diana knew the demon’s eye had been put out of commission, so now it was time for John to hold up his end of the bargain. She cast a sidelong glance at the trolls once more before directing her attention yet again to John, this time her expression not quite so serious.

“Next time someone suggests demon hunting you can count me out.” Diana was shaking her head and holding both hands on her hips as she finished. Grinning wildly her whole mood had taken an odd uplift as she looked between the two men. “I’ll just leave it to the pros, now about that oracle…can you contact him now?”

“I’ll just leave it to the pros, now about that oracle…can you contact him now?”

John: 'Course I can, luv. That's what I came out for. Got a message sent to me while in the pub, over the phone. He said "You can show them in now, John." That's how I knew it was a done deal. C'mon.

(None of them really cared what happened to the demon at this point. He wasn't quite as powerful without the Jagan Eye in his head. But now that they'd done John his...little favor...he could help them with their own little problem, that being how to find the pages. Of course, HE didn't know. They had to go see this oracle, right? The question was...where was he? Well...John took them up to an old flat that was local - he claimed it belonged to an old friend - and showed them...the way.)

Jake: What way?

John: Look down.

(He did. There was a rather intricate circle carved into the floor and smelling of bizarre herbs and...fish. It looked like some sort of summoning circle of gateway to hell, but John stated - quite clearly - that it didn't go anywhere near hell, or shadow realm, or pit of evil, or-)

John: Will you stop asking and let me talk?!

Jake: Alright.

John: I dunno what world it is, but the place is a little town called Lynn's Brook, and the oracle lives outside of town in house that screams out rustic. You in?

Jake: And this oracle knows where to find the last couple pages of the Necronomicon?

John: That an' alot of other things, mate.

Jake: What's his name?

John: Dominic Deegan.

(Sounds like another cameo brewing...)

The spirit world really did work faster than she thought. Still something caused a slight chill to run down Diana’s spine. She had caught the hint in John’s comment that let her know this person was expecting them, and had evidently been watching the entire time. There shouldn’t have been too much worry put in to that but she felt a bit gypped, and slightly jealous. Her job could have been so much easier, but it was a worry for another day. Obediently she followed John along trailing behind Jake a few steps out of habit. It wasn’t until they reached the flat that she found herself quirking the questioning eyebrow once more.

‘The way’… or so he called it, was nothing more than a carving on the floor. Looking at it with a skeptical gaze she shook her head and turned to look at the two once more just in time to catch Jake playing twenty questions. As much as she didn’t like the idea of this…’way’, or portal as she was now calling it, potentially taking them in to the unknown she had at least found amusement in their antics. Laughing lightly she took a sidelong glance at the carving and then back to John. Alternate worlds, oracles, demons and magic, it all sounded like a fairy tale if not a children’s movie. As a matter of fact… hadn’t she seen this one before?

“So… we just go to Lynn's Brook, find Dominic Deegan, get our information and then be on our way?” Always the skeptic she had to ask. “No offense to you or anyone else John, but why does it all sound way too easy?”

OOC: First, John Constantine, and now, Dominic Deegan: Oracle-For-Hire!

IC>>>>>

“So... we just go to Lynn's Brook, find Dominic Deegan, get our information, and then be on our way? No offense to you or anyone else, John, but why does it all sound way too easy?”

John: Oh, that's simple. I don't know how to get you back. That's up to Dominic.

Jake: Wait. You don't have another one of these lying around down there?

John: Nope.

Jake: Then how do you get back?

John: I never went. Dominic got here by accident one time. That's why I know the way.

Jake: Fabulous... Well, at least they can get us back. I take it they've got alot of magic and stuff there?

John: That an' more, mate.

(Jake and John start up a conversation then about this town called Lynn's Brook, the kind of world it was, and everything that they needed to know. The worst thing that they could come against there are demons and necromancers, but that they were usually tougher than the average beast because the necros could blight a person to make them rot very easily and the demons were very good at possession, trickery, and sorcery.)

Jake: Anything happening in Lynn's Brook right now?

John: Quiet as a church.

(Jake looks over to Diana.)

Jake: That good for you?

Expressions were a funny thing. The moment he said “I don’t know…” Diana’s face dropped considerably in to a both annoyed and yet skeptical look. Her right eyebrow was already twitching slightly. Normally the girl would hold her cool under any situation, but had she not encountered Jake on a most unpleasant of days? Her body was more sleep deprived now than ever before, and so her level of tolerance was greatly reduced. A ticking time bomb, that’s what she was. Too bad the fuse was short one at that. It was quickly snuffed out as she heard something that would prove to lift her spirits.

It seemed the likeliness of them returning was higher than not returning, so she wouldn’t entertain the thought any longer. The only thing that caught her off guard was the “an’ more” comment. He made it sound as if they would find more things of interest in this place then just information. Of course, that quandary would never be answered if she didn’t go. Deep in thought she was quickly jerked back to reality by the sound of Jake’s voice. Sure he had been speaking the whole time but this was the first instance that he ha directed a word towards her. She half jumped, half blushed for being caught in her daydream, if it could have been called that.

“Good as it’s going to get, might as well quit stalling and get this show on the road, eh?.”

Her voice was unusually chipper as she answered, no need to be the party pooper, and besides, what’s the worst that could happen?

“Good as it’s going to get, might as well quit stalling and get this show on the road, eh?.”

John: Now, you're talkin'. I'll get started, then.

(What could possibly go wrong? That phrase, and all similar, had the power of calamity behind it. The great Lord Morpheus had said that upon mentioning that he had to deal with John Constantine. What could go wrong? He'd lost the damn dream-sand pouch to an old girlfriend who was also a drug-addict. That's what. In any case, John started the incantation and...it appeared to be in Pig-Latin that he was doing this. Any attempt to question him on the matter would be met with a sour look while still doing the chant. Soon, gray spiritual energies swirled up around the two in a very mystical way and VOOM! Actually, it was more of a "Foop" sound...)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(It was strange... The last thing he remembered, right before coming here, was somebody saying that he was a sperm whale falling towards a grayish barren world, and that there was a bowl of petunias nearby. He knew that the bowl of petunias couldn't have been Diana, because the "Oh no! Not again!" thought going through it was clearly not in her thought-pattern. In any case, Jake and Diana appear at the beginnings of a rustic-looking village, modern only in the sense of being like the frontier. This was Lynn's Brook, and they had arrived with a sound that only be described as "Whop".)

Jake: You know, I never knew the galaxy had so many mice. I mean, the chances of so many little critters like that being around is positiively astoun- I'm sorry, my mind was completely lost there for a second. You say something?

This being her first experience with mysticism of any sort Diana’s full attention focused on not only the words John was speaking, but also the mark under her feet. Titling her head to the side a bit she observed the strange grey energy that seemed to lace up and around them, then, without notice, she lost all sense of herself. This was nothing like any portal she’d been through before. There had been a moment of hope that it would be nothing worse than Leon’s but it was nothing like that at all. This was completely foreign to the girl yet she wasn’t scared. Knowing fully well there was nothing she could do about it she just grit her teeth and closed her eyes until she felt it was over.

Her sense came back to find her feet sound on ht e ground and her head gripped between her hands. Somewhere along the line she had felt as if a million voices had been speaking to her at once, but now all she could hear was Jake going on about mice. Looking at him blanking she couldn’t help herself…

“This guy’s off his rocker…” She jumped slightly at the thought of being caught and quickly shook her head from side to side with a sheepish grin. “Nope, not a word.”

Grinning innocently she cleared her throat while taking a closer look at their new surroundings and straightening her jacket out a bit. It was obvious they weren’t in their own world any longer, aside from its appearance, the air smelled much better, cleaner even. Of course, she was the one who would notice such subtle things, but they were her quirks alone. Her eyes held uncertainty for the town before them. How were they supposed to find a rustic looking house when they all looked rustic? Not to mention the people here might not be of the friendly sort.

“Do you think it’ll be hard finding this… Dominic Deegan? They may not be too fond of outsiders here.”

Jake: From what I heard from John, they may not be very fond of him. Let's have a look around.

(Yeah, the entire place was rustic, but the funny thing was that people didn't appear to be staring that much. In fact, as Jake would remark to himself, it seemed as if the people here were low on the brain-quotient. Note the absent-minded looks in their eyes... That's right. These people were as dumb as bricks. In fact, try getting their their attention and...)

Jake: Hey, could you help with someth- Hi, I'd like some directions t- Yo, zombie-eyes! Tell me where to find... Oh forget it...

(The only thing going for him right now was the fact that this place had such crisp air that he could cut molecules in half with it. True, he could use any old air for his needs, but modern air was sludgey. Meanwhile, a strong-looking woman comes up behind Diana, chuckling to herself about Jake's antics. Her name was Rachel and she was a clothing designer.)

Rachel: You and your friend must not be from around here. People take a vow of silence when anyone mentions Dominic, moreso now that he's moved back in to his old home outside of town.

Oh joy. It would hard enough finding this guy, but with the people not liking him, well, they were screwed. Begrudgingly she nodded, knowing very well they were in for a long aggravating day. With each failed attempt to speak to someone Diana’s mood seemed to plummet further and further in to discouragement. She shook her head slightly while brushing a stray hair from her eyes. How on Earth could people be so stupid and rude? Oh yeah, they weren’t exactly on Earth any longer, or were they? She distracted herself for the time being with the little quandary, letting her guard down as she did so, not a good move in a strange place when anyone could walk right up behind you. Just like that, Diana never noticed the woman approach her until it was too late. Slightly startled Diana jumped slightly before whirling around to face her.

“You could say that…”

A nervous laugh seeped through her lips as she tried to smile sincerely despite the silliness she felt for being caught unaware. Fanning herself lightly due to embarrassment she took a moment to take a good look at the woman. She seemed nice enough, and even approached them about the very person they were searching for. Maybe she’d be nice enough to show them where this Dominic fellow was.

“So I noticed. My name is Diana and that…” She nodded her head in the direction of Jake. “…is Jake. You said Dominic has moved to his house outside of town; do you mind showing us where it is or at least pointing us in the right direction?”

"You said Dominic has moved to his house outside of town; do you mind showing us where it is or at least pointing us in the right direction?”

Rachel: I can show you. No problem. My name is Rachel, by the way. I'm an old friend of his.

(Having been properly introduced, Rachel felt that these two were alright, though Jake was still trying to get anyone's attention, apparently flaring off some elemental power in his frustration, which wasn't helping. The athlete lets out a loud whistle to get Jake's attention.)

Rachel: Yo! Magic-boy! Over here!

(This gets his attention and soon they are introduced to each other. Jake then tells Rachel WHY he needs Dominic's help and that's when she gets a little bit confused.)

Rachel: You're trying to get the pages of this book of evil...to do good?

Jake: Well, to keep it out of the hands of evil. The last pages are for banishing the Candarian Spirits.

Rachel: Uh...huh. Let's just see what Dominic has to say, alright?

Jake: Fine by me.

(She leads the two of them out of town and towards a house that appears to be a large bump in the ground, made of wood and concrete. The door opens before they even make it to the doormat. Just inside, there is a young man with brown hair, a longish coat, relatively normal clothing underneath, wears glasses, and has a cat on his shoulder. The young man is obviously Dominic Deegan. The cat is an orange tabby, who speaks.)

"Hiya, Rachel! Didja' bring me anything? Fish, maybe?"

Rachel: *Slight chuckle* Hello, Spark. No, I didn't bring anything like that, just a couple of customers for Dominic.

Spark: Maybe later?

Rachel: Sure.

Dominic: Ahem.

Rachel: Oh, right. Sorry. Dominic, these are-

Dominic: I know, I know.

(He smiles then, his sour-demeanor cleared for the moment.)

Dominic: Would you come into my humble abode?

She had never thought the woman to be a threat. If she had meant them hard then her demeanor would have stated as such. Still Diana mentally chided herself for not being more cautious. They were in a strange land after all, she would have a hard time telling who they could and couldn’t trust. Rachel didn’t seem like much a threat anyway, maybe that’s why she had been so quick to trust. Sighing Diana let the thoughts go as she looked to Jake. That sigh soon melted away to some light laughter. He really was a comedian at times.

“Ha ha…Magic boy…he he… that’s priceless”

Covering her mouth, she let the laughs die out as Jake went in to his little sill of their quest here. It was only the umpteenth time he had told someone. For a moment, she questioned Rachel’s willingness to help once she heard the whole story. Sure, it was an easy concept to get confused; having a book of evil to good, but backwards was something she had grown accustomed to lately. Regardless of her doubts, Rachel soon started leading them on through the town, Diana following not too far behind.

The ‘rustic’ house that supposedly house Dominic was nothing impressive really. She had half way expected something like this. It looked as it had been plucked straight from some fairytale really, but she mused that maybe it was just his choice of residence. Once inside her thoughts soon changed, it was rather quaint really, from what she could see through the doorway. Once again, she felt her attention being pulled elsewhere and away from the décor to find whom was speaking to not really be a whom but a what. For a girl that could shift in to her own cat form she shouldn’t have been too surprised to find a talking cat here, but it was a little unexpected. Maybe that was Domininc’s familiar, or just a friend. There was no way of knowing and she was sure it wasn’t any of her business really. Casting a sidelong glance to Jake she tread cautiously inside only after his verbal invitation. There was a quick decision that left her thinking that she’d let Jake do all the talking, unless she felt a need to give her unsolicited opinions, or ask questions. Until then she’d just keep to the background of things, if she could help it.

“Thank you for taking the time to see us Sir.”

“Thank you for taking the time to see us, sir.”

Dominic: It's no problem at all.

Spark: Man, they really dress funny, boss.

Dominic: With the exception of Spark, my fish-eating big-mouth with legs and fur.

(The cat rolls his eyes, going "Touchy, touchy..." before jumping down off of Dominic's shoulder and heading outside. Rachel gave them all a wave goodbye before heading back to town. She and Dominic use to date, but that was a long time ago. Now, it was just them and the Oracle. He led them to his study, where he had no crystal ball, because he hadn't replaced it from the last time it exploded.)

Jake: Why did it explode?

Dominic: A member of a cultist group called the Chosen had a rune on his forehead that blocked scrying. And because of his power, the ball exploded. Of course, it wasn't really him. It was actually my brother...

Jake: He's one of the Chosen?

Dominic: No, he's a necromancer you ripped the man apart and used his face that day.

Jake: Ewww...

Dominic: Exactly. Now, suppose you tell me exactly what you need and I will see what I see.

(Jake immediately pulled out the Necronomicon and Dominic suddenly panicked, backing away from the flesh-bound book in terror. It was an instinctive move. He soon recovered, but kept his distance.)

Dominic: Did I mention I have a fear of necromancy?

Jake: Ah...no. Look, this thing has a couple of missing pages, mostly pertaining to the banishment spell. Can you find a few pages written in blood?

Dominic: Blood, huh? That's original... Yes, I think I can do that.

(The Seer stood still for a moment and his eyes glazed over, as if he were in a trance. Once or twice, he frowned. And then, there was a look of disgust. Finally, he broke out of it.)

Dominic: Do you want the bad news or the worse news first?

As the poster child for manners and etiquette, she knew it was all about making good first impressions. Last thing she wanted was to be on his bad side. Something about making a stronger person upset with her didn’t sit too well, not that it hadn’t happened before but the repercussions and consequences of such actions were still fresh in her mind. Quirking an eyebrow she looked down at herself when Spark remarked on their clothing. Maybe it was a bit strange for the area, but she did her best to shrug his comment off and pay attention to what was being said, only finding the joke funny and well worth her giggle. Watching both the cat and Rachel go she knew that any moment now Jake would have to go in to his whole explanation again. Or would he?

Walking behind them in to his study, she let her eyes wander over the contents within. She could have spent hours in here just looking, but that was just Diana, easily amused. It was a given she wasn’t too thrilled with the explanation of his destroyed crystal ball. Watching the two carefully she smirked. Well that was certainly an interesting bit of information. He was scared of necromancy? Sure she was uneasy about the subject but not frightened by it completely. Surely someone who dealt with the paranormal on a daily basis wouldn’t have a fear like that, but who was she to judge? It wasn’t too soon after that Dominic began to do something rather strange and only frowned when she saw the look on his face. What now?

“Might as well tell us the worst of it first. At least that way we won’t get our hopes up too high.”

Dominic: Very well. Your pages are in the hands of a rather powerful Joker, a chaotic spirit that has access to some very bizarre sorceries. Here, I can render a picture if you'll give me a minute.

(The Seer quickly pulled something of an old-style pen and then went to find some paper. After having found those, he began to draw. Using the memory of the creature he had just viewed, Dominic was able to produce an image, which he then showed to Jake and Diana.)

Dominic: This creature is reverse-engineering the spell in order to pull demons towards him.

Jake: That's....yeesh.

Dominic: I'm pretty handy with a pen.

Jake: How'd he get it?

Dominic: It wandered into his realm after the first use of the banishment spell. I can deliver you there by way of a planar portal and bring you back, but you know that I can't get you back to your world.

Jake: I figured that much out. How dangerous is this thing?

Dominic: I understand that the master of these creatures died a long time ago, but considering their powers, I would say this one can be equally dangerous. It responds to the Ritual of Kotodama - rumors transformed into power.

Jake: Oh great. Errr, by the way, what was the bad news?

Dominic: He saw me looking at him. He knows you're coming.

Somewhere within the confines of Diana’s mind, a car was screeching to an unexpected stop. Did she hear him right? A powerful Joker? Chaotic spirit? Bizarre sorceries? Well she was hardly singing hallelujah. Diana had thought he was kidding when he mentioned the news being that bad. Served her right for trying to be optimistic. Watching Dominic skeptically, she was expecting a stick figure, not a graphic illustration. That headache she had felt earlier was starting to evolve in to a migraine. Looking at the picture, she felt a cold chill rush down her spine. Now, not only did they have to worry about the arbitrary chances of them getting home, but now there was a rather nasty looking fellow to confront. It didn’t matter he had the page, and she would be damned if they even thought about leaving before taking possession of it. Something told her they would just have to be crafty.

“Eww… looks like a bad Halloween costume if you ask me, The Deranged Joker.” Scrunching her nose up a bit, she crossed her arms over he chest and shook her head slightly. With the joking out of her system, she managed to take a step back and think on the situation. Eventually a whimsical smirk found it’s home on her lips and she glanced over to Jake with a raised eyebrow. “Well if he’s expecting us then we shouldn’t disappoint.”

(This got a smug and mischievous grin on Jake's face. There was no way that they were going to back down now. Consider how far they had come so far. First into the dregs of humanity, then another world... Now, they were going...where? Some chaotic realm? Meh. So what? Jake had done worse...possibly.)

Jake: Let's not keep him waiting, Dominic. Start the ritual, already.

(There was no ritual. Dominic merely snapped his fingers and a portal appeared nearby. Jake flashed him a confused look.)

Jake: It was that easy?

Dominic: I've had to deal with the plain of chaos before.

(What Dominic was referring to was something that neither of the two had ever heard of, namely the Storm of Souls, a purgatory/forces of destruction that existed to obliterate the world and reshape it in a new form, one that was far more based upon chaos. This wasn't it, though. The Storm of Souls was a created thing, and not a natural form of existence. This plain of chaos was simply a sub-section of a more vast and ungodly dimension that was possibly both a part of heaven, hell, and the astral plain. Jake reeled from looking into Dominic's head with his powers.)

Jake: Gahhh... My eyes... Oh, and good luck with your girlfriend.

Dominic: And you with yours. Now, you might want to step back a minute.

Jake: Why would we...?

"Gyyyyyaaaahhhhrrrr!!!"

(The portal was like a tunnel, and that tunnel didn't reveal what was on the other side until they jumped through. It was an electric-blue color and quite capable as far as bridges to other realms went. The one problem with this portal was that it was not a one-way street, but rather a revolving door. What goes in can also come out, and vice versa. That being said, Dominic wasn't too surprised when his second-sight caught wind of a spindly zombie-creature with arms and legs that ended in blades and a split-open head that looked like a jester's crown was jumping through his portal. The vision was of a few seconds ago, right when he'd warned them to step back. Because now the creature was standing right there, its leg-blades tearing into the floor, though gravity had a limited grasp upon its evil body.)

"I'll swallow your soul!!!"

OOC: After this thing dies, I'm going to move the RP to Other Worlds.

Seeing that her cohort was amused by her statement and quite ready to move forward set Diana in to a state of confidence. So what if the thing on the other side of this portal was tall, evil, and scary? They’d be okay. She hadn’t come all this way for nothing. Glancing between the two men, she wondered just how long it would take to forge a passage between two worlds. The answer came like a cold splash of water as before her eyes the portal appeared. She didn’t know who was more shocked by the display, Jake or herself. She wasn’t to sure what to make of a ‘plain of chaos’ but she knew it wasn’t anything positive. Jake’s groan didn’t go unnoticed, diverting her attention from her own thoughts once more. What had he been doing to cause such discomfort anyway?

Quirking an eyebrow she would have missed everything if it wasn’t for the ungodly sound, something between a roar and battle cry. Jumping her whole body spun to see one of the most disturbing sights she’d ever laid eyes on. Not only was this thing ugly, but it looked far more dangerous than the demon they had faced earlier. Case in point, she wasn’t looking forward to becoming confetti from those blades. A nervous laugh left her smirked lips as she stepped back cautiously, once again retrieving her bo from the inside pocket of her jacket, extending it out while assessing their new target. Well this turn in events was unexpected and she’d hate to see Dominic’s room destroyed, but wasn’t about to go rushing head first at the thing. On second thought, that did seem like a good idea. The rush could push it back through the portal but Diana never was a much of a face-to-face fighter. Her skills relied on stealth, agility, and the element of surprise, not bruit strength. Quickly she cast a skeptical glance at Jake then Dominic.

“Any idea as to what this things weakness is?”
