OOC: Otherwise, he never learns the ultimate price of his lifestyle. This post will encompass the entire situation, from the call to the hit. The actual attack will be in the time I opted for. The introduction to all that will be a bit before. So... IC>>>>> Monday, 2:00 PM, Akihabara District Mall... (The cool air of the climate-controlled building was relaxing...as was her purpose for being here. It had been the a rather interesting thing. She had been Downtown, in the back-alleys, pursuing some hapless fool through the twists and turns...playing with him like a lowly animal. He had been stalking her around town, for some reason. She had been in her black T-shirt and gray pants look, not even appearing suspicious. However, he must have recognized her from somewhere, and then ran off to lose her. No such luck. The man had finally been cornered when he did a most astonishing thing...) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Thank you for coming, miss. I was afraid that you wouldn't follow me if I ran, but I guessed that you were the inquisitive type." Rish: Who are you? "My name has no importance, only my reason for being here, which was to get your attention. I represent a fair-few associates whose names shall also not be known, but should be noted that they know a bit about you." Rish: Me? Why should they care about me? I'm not terribly important. "We have seen you in action, in that gray garb you wear. My boss recognizes the style of outfit and fighting...as that of the Divine Fox. There was a rumor that a successor to this obscure assassin's title was in the neighborhood." Rish: Oh dear... Caught me red-handed. What ever shall I do...besides kill the lot of you for being so clever? "Meet me later to discuss a job, I should hope." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (The little man's candor had intrigued her, so he agreed. It didn't really disturb her to know that her surname was being distributed among questionable circles. Rish had decided to meet in the mall's food court to discuss matters. His associates would never be known. He was the go-between man, making sure that if even he died, they would be untouchable. He had to be a Yakuza gangmember or something. The man was an Oriental-descendant, having a businessman-like approach to things. Not a playful fellow, really. Pity... Rish sat at the table he had been waiting at.) Rish: Alright, I'm here. May as well explain yourself. "I say nothing, except that there is a man we want dead. Accept and I will give you the file and part company. Decline and we will say our goodbyes now." Rish: Is there a reward involved? It would be such a let-down to do a job without payment. "There is. Interested?" Rish: Sure, I'll bite. (She accepted the file from the man and he left, first explaining that the file should be destroyed to prevent any evidence leading back to either of them. Rish smirked at this. He really was a professional. By accepting, she was now in the same stew as him. She read the report, the whole thing, word for word, memorizing the photo and the schedule. She had some work to do. Rish took the file into the ladies' room, which as empty, threw it into the toilet, and quietly zapped it with enough spiritual energy to disintegrate it, flushing the remains afterward. There was nothing left, and that's the way they wanted it handled with Zephry. There should be nothing left. He should disappear like a wisp of smoke in the wind. Hmmm... That gave her an idea.) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Monday, 8:05 PM, West Shinjuku... (One might ask, what was she doing here of all places. The answer was that this was the area of Zephry's target, which he was now in the process of pursuing. How had she learned that? Well, it wasn't easy, but she could manage. It started with his sightings inbars at the Kabuki-Cho District. This seedy little underground would admit anyone, meta and non-meta. She had gone there in her casual clothes...and then stepped into an alley to do take on an intersting change. There were bouncers at the bar Zephry had gone in and she was assuming the outward appearance of one...but with a different face, so they would just figure him another employee. It worked. The only thing they said was "Straighten your tie". From there on, Rish was able to get a good look at 'Seiji'. His picture was still mostly accurate, and the fact that he was meeting a shady-looking fellow seemed to bear out who it was. As soon as he left, Rish abandoned her illusion in a dark alley and was in the appearance of the gray ninja, silently shadowing the man with care. The gray meshed with alot of dark things, and not just shadows. Zephry would only get an impression of maybe being followed. The 'chase' led her here, to this neighborhood. His target was not known to Rish. Getting close enough to find that out was too risky in the bar. However, it looked like he was accosting what would appear to be an innocent if it was around here.) Rish: Well...how innocent can this target of his be, I wonder? (Half the time now, she was flattened on rooftops to avoid being seen. She would wait patiently on one house, jump to the next when she was sure he wouldn't notice. Zephry was calmly strolling by, as if he were a guy with nothing to hide. Unbeknownst to Rish, his target was an informant on a deal that his latest employers had wanted absolutely quiet. Now, with suspicion on their tails, this witness had to be silenced. She was not an Oriental woman, but a woman whose business was finding out secrets and exposing them for profit, Marie Sackwell. According to HIS information, Marie should be getting home in a few minutes from her cover-job as a secretary. Zephry watched the house on his fifth lap around the block. He had on an Olympic sports watch to give the appearance of a late-night jogger. In fact, he had a funny idea about confronting Miss Sackwell in total exhaustion, using her hospitality, and then quickly ending her life without anyone ever knowing. And while this thought entered his head, he was still wary that there might be a shadow out there. He didn't know, but he suspected, as always. Paranoia keeps you alive. However, there was some fog rolling in. That would give him some cover. Perhaps Miss Sackwell should die in a Jack The Ripper fashion... He was around the block again, the fog giving him excellent cover, and there she was! She was heading towards her house, her back to him She looked calm, so he approached. But...wait a second! She must have heard his footsteps quicken, because now she was moving faster. Had she really heard him? Well, no matter. These houses here were empty. He'd checked. No help for miles... She was ten feet ahead of him, her sillouette visible in the fog, and then...she quickly stepped down into something. Aha! The sewers... Perfect. Dark, secluded, and sound-proof. Zephry heard his target trip and fall as he got down there. She was helpless, and he - upon carefully looking around, saw no pursuers or ambushers. Excellent. He took out a knife and approached his target. She got up clumsily, begging for her life a little too late!) "No, please! I-" (On "I", Zephry plunged the dagger into her...and fell through her whole body! He almost tripped himself, then recovered. What the hell was that? It was like she was never there...but he saw her! He heard her! He- There was suddenly a sound very much like the open manhole being covered by the heavy metal cover that was visible in the fog. It was now very dark down here. As soon as his eyes began to adjust, he thought he saw movement on the left, trying to get behind him. Her swung his knife at the shadow, but every trace of it seemed to vanish. Right after he did that, a force from behind seemed to thrum and blast him down the corridor. He yelled, but no one would hear him. Soundproof walls... He hit the ground and hurt all over. Something stepped on the back of his neck while he lay there. A blade was quickly cutting away his clothing... Why? He never found out. Whatever was on his neck now stepped off, and there was this glow... The sillouette of a human, indistinguiable, was behind it, and then...nothing. Zephry ceased to exist as anything more than scattered chunks of meat. Rish heard that it would rain tonight, so the spirit-blasted remains would be swept away with the waters. She herself would throw the clothing into a random Kabuki-Cho District bonfire. As for even the smallest remains...that was what rats were for... But how had she done it? Well... The fog, first of all, was not fog. It was her own spiritual fog-emanations, being of a spirit-energy thing and not a moisture thing at all. She generated it in a subtle manner. Then, there was Marie. She was the only one around at this time and she figured Zephry would want isolation. So...she led her down the wrong path with the fog and some illusion, and took her shape for yet another illusion. From there, all she had to do was string Zephry along. It was convincing, clever. She had him right where she wanted him. Once in the sewers, Zephry would disappear almost as convincingly as his target, thanks to a force-wave and a spirit-blast. With him disappearing, his employers would naturally assume that he was hit and hit hard, and would wash their hands of him quickly. As for Zephry's previous employers, the ones who wanted him dead, they would be quiet too, and they would not try to cross her. If they had any idea who she was, with the Divine Fox mention, they would not bring her up in conversaion...or they would all die. Rish set off for school again, thinking to herself how wonderful it was to be what she is.) |
