The day was hot, ungodly so. The sun beat down on the roof, where there were really no students on, thanks to the heat. The fact that it was the middle of the day made the heat no less oppresive. But it provided great cover for an ancient being that was moving quickly through the air, as fast as her golden wings could take her. If it were the dawn, dusk, or night, most people would have either seen an angel made of golden light, or if they had never heard of an angel, a golden hawk soaring through the air at marvellous speeds. During the day, all they should have been able to see was a ripple in the air as if the heated air was drifting up and creating a distortion. At least, that is when they normally would have been able to see. Thanks to her extremely weak powers, not even the ability to stay invisible was with this being. She couldn't even choose what perception her form had anymore. What they would see would almost seem like a trick of the light, yet it was real. It just mattered on what they knew, and what they could percieve. It also mattered on their age. Old wisened adults would see the angel, while teenagers, children, and young adults who were still learning would see the hawk. But a few of the teenagers here would see the angel, only because of all they had been through. And it soared closer and closer, quicker and quicker towards the roof, as if it were battling against something.

'No wind, must work fast. If I'm not lucky and fast, I shall die.'

With a quick sweep, the golden hawk or angel, depending on who saw, dropped down onto the roof, its wings folding up quickly. And, in a second, the Watcher started to change, the golden lights started to change, to dim, to dissapear. What was left was girl, only two inches under 6 feet, angry red hair and bright green eyes. Yet, her eyes, no matter how bright, seemed to be lacking something, something that made her human, as if they were dulled, yet still sharp. She was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt, no shoes, and the only thing in her hair was a bandana, pulling it back. With a sweep of her hand, she wiped away the sweat on her forehead, sighing. It was not from the heat, but from being so worried. You see, her name is Sai, and she is a watcher. Though she is sometimes seen as an angel, she is no angel. She is the result of when matter relizes itself. But she is also very weak. And had a strong wind hit her, her entire being would have been destroyed. She had to change, or she would have died. After a few seconds of catching her breath, she sighed, then looked at herself, examining the clothing she had appeared in this time. Her voice was very emotionless, almost as if she didn't care, yet there was a very strong sense of intelligence and self awareness in them. So, she didn't sound hollow, just different.

"How crude. They will have to do. Thank goodness there was no wind. Who knows how long I would have lasted. Next time, I shall avoid that kind of risk."

She sat down quickly, panting, exhausted from having used her Watcher form so much. She knew it had been dangerous, but she had known no other way to get to where she needed to go. Walking would have taken hours, and there had been no breeze. And thankfully, no breeze had picked up on her way here either.

(Fate... Fate was a word used to describe things that happen for a reason. However, that one word is far too insignificant to truly explain the gigantic holistic nature of things, all interconnected with so-called destinies shifting this way and that with every action a person takes. It's as fickle as the wind. Are all events controlled by it? No. Are they entirely free? No. The issue is not black and white. It is a multi-faceted thing that is explained in the truth behind Feng Shui, the Leyline. To those who have dedicated some time to looking into this and understanding its ways, this is a way to 'change fate', or be guided to a 'fate' that is rather important to some degree. The point of this matter was that, during the landing of one who would seem golden or angelic, a Daniel Anderson had chosen that moment to open the door to the roof. He had been worrying about his brother, whom he'd rescued from a fate worse than deaht. His brother was now asleep in his room, free from his troubles...but for how long. Daniel sought to gain the roof in order to think. Makoto had told her to keep an eye on what was important. The world was not on his shoulders, she said. But...sometimes, he felt it was... Now, as the brown-haired boy came up top, he saw the hawk-like being transform into something approximately human. Because he had no faith in god, Daniel did not see her as an angel, at any rate.)

"How crude. They will have to do. Thank goodness there was no wind. Who knows how long I would have lasted. Next time, I shall avoid that kind of risk."

Daniel: What kind of risk do you mean? Were you in trouble or something?

Sai wasn't caught by suprise by this new addition to her experiences. She hadn't known he was coming, but his coming hadn't meant anything to her. She was not happy, she was not sad, he was just there, another being moving through his life as she was moving through hers. So, she looked up from her seat, just staring at him emotionlessly. She wasn't thinking about why he was here, she wasn't judging him, she was just looking at him, sizing him up, making her own assumptions by the small amount of Dust she could see. Her powers diminished, she could only see Dust in its largest amounts, and the few golden particles she saw on him proved something. He had been through alot. Whether it was good or bad, he had been through many things, many more things than normal people usually went through. He was older than his age, through experience alone. And through his tone, she could speculate his nature. He seemed kind and caring, not that it mattered to her all that much. What really mattered was that he did not seem dangerous, and that he seemed trustworthy. She couldn't tell if he was a killer or a murderer though, two things she found very important in someone. A killer or a murderer could keep their mouth shut, stay out of the way, and would usually only ask what was needed of them. But to do that, she would need her full powers of seeing Dust back, which she didn't have. So, she made what assumptions she could with the limited evidence, and nothing more. Her response to him reflected her feelings, no emotion whatsoever. She said it to answer his question and nothing more. Not to show her kindness, her coldness, or anything else. She had nothing to hide, but she also did not care all that much for telling more than what was asked for.

"No, I was not in any particular trouble. I was talking about the risk of being out of this shape. The wind is just a very dangerous thing when I am out of my human form. It could easily break the bonds of my other form, and then I would die, scattered to the clouds, to join the millions of others who died before me."

With that, she just stared at him, as if asking him if he had any more questions for her. It was unusual for a Watcher to ever have to talk with the being they were watching or guarding over, so conversation was never one of her strong spots. She usually only told people things when she was ordered to, and answered any questions they had. But actually being curious about the person she watched, that was something new that she had never had to deal with. Usually, she made her own guesses from what she watched them do. But now, without her powers, she could not watch, so she was at a loss in the basic department of social skills.

(It was a strange feeling...the impression he was getting of this girl. At first, he'd been in a sort of awe over the strange golden being that landed before him. It was not her intention to see him for reasons he couldn't fathom. She had come here for her own reasons, and her own risk apparently. He was actually quite surprised to find that she was...what appeard to be an ordinary girl. But...something was off on that mark. She had the appearance of human, but none of the mannerisms. This wouldn't be the first time an enrollee turned out to be a non-human, so Daniel wouldn't hold anything against her, save for the standoffish kind of look one gets when presented with an engima. Unlike her, Daniel was curious about who he was accosting here. For a moment, Sai would perceive that Daniel looking straight through her with his own senses. He had astral sight. If the spirit plain exposed an aura of evil, he would know where she stood. But upon looking, it didn't seem like she was evil. In fact, she was like nothing he'd ever sensed before.)

Daniel: Millions... Who were they? For that matter, who are you? I know you're not evil...I can sense it. I just can't tell what to make of you.

(The thought of millions dead, just like that, did not sit well with Daniel. He knew their were beings capable of that and worse. And so Mother Nature does the work for them? Unacceptable! What kind of ugly twist of fate was this? Her apparently lack of emotion made him wonder if the thought of millions dead was the cause of her current condition.)

Daniel: You can trust me, though...

"Of course I can. I can tell from your speech that you hold no deception against me. You ask me things directly, you do not go around the point until you trick me into saying what you wish me to say. I can tell that I can trust you. I have met many untrustworthy people. You are not like them."

With that, she got up and walked towards him. It wasn't that she was trying to fill the gap, it was just hard for her to talk to him from such a long distance without having to raise her voice, which was not something she wanted to do. So, she moved to about 5 feet away from him, then continued to look straight at him, in the eyes. But like most things she did, there was barely any semblance of human in them. Her walk wasn't stiff, it wasn't flowing, she was just moving, no emotions attached, no seductive shake of the hips, no rigid leg movements to symbolize control, just movement. And her eyes weren't blank, but there was no extra emotion in them at all. She was a person, but not human, as he had guessed, and as it was easy to guess. She had no other expectation of his abilities, the Dust she was able to see told her more than enough. He had experience with life, and so much of the substance probably sorrounded him that he would looked as she did when she landed to any other Watcher who had their power.

"I am Sai'nora'tai'dan Mir'kira'so'tin, and the millions I was talking about was the millions of beings that have died on this planet and given their energy, minds and bodies back to the world in which they took from. When I die, my energy shall join their's and be used as it is used, however that is. I am no different in that aspect from anyone else on this world or in any other world that exists. But if you wish to know more in life, I can tell you as much as you wish to know. Just ask."

As she spoke her name, a strange effect came over her entire voice. It was as if she was speaking a totally different language, yet there was no accent nor was there any change. It was just the feeling of her saying it that was strange. As if the words filtered straight through the listener's heart. It was nothing that would last, it was just a feeling, like when the hairs on the back of people's necks stand up, but not in the same way. It was the language of the Watcher's, and past their name, they never used it. They knew it, they could speak it if needed, but they never did. They didn't know who had made it, what it was used for, or why they knew it, but they knew that they weren't supposed to speak it unless neccesary. And neccesary being never, since they knew how to speak in any other language they chose just fine.

(He was most relieved to find that this person who had flown in from...who knows where...decided to trust him. She had seen in him that he was trustworthy, one of his better qualities. Of course, not having his shotgun on hand certainly helped. Daniel usually had a nice auto-loading short-barrel rifle on him, which was a replacement for the one he gave Roy. Roy had no power without...without the thing that he'd saved him from. He needed to protect himself whenever he was without power. Now, Daniel looked carefully at the girl. She was a perfect medium of order. Nothing fancy or dull, no great wavering of emotion from sad to angry to anything else. She was just...there. However, as she looked at him with those eyes, he felt as if there was far more to her than her young appearance bore out. Daniel wasn't sure what it was...until she said so.)

(Somewhat professional, save for the fact that professionalism was done on purpose and she simply spoke that way because she was just like that. The voice-change that she underwent to pronounce her name caught him for a second, pretty much confirming the fact that she was not human. No matter. As stated before, plenty of people here weren't human.)

Daniel: I'll keep that in mind, Sai...nor...umm... Would it be alright if I just called you "Sai"? It's a really long name. Mine is Daniel.

(His curiosity was somewhat peaked by her statement. Without constraint of counter-demand, she was offering to tell him anything she knew about her kind, aspects of life - everything. Could all the answers come so easily? Well, there had to be a limit to what she knew, and it was likely that she could not directly help any of his problems, not unless she knew about the events of his life in particular. Speaking of events in his life...)

Daniel: I guess I should ask what it was you came here for. You were intending to land here at AHS, right?

"I am fine with that name, if you wish to call me it. I understand, it took me time to be able to pronounce it as well. As for your name, I can pronounce Daniel just fine, so I shall call you that, unless you have any other names that you would wish me to call you."

Her philosophy on names was simple. As long as you were respectful with the owner's right to choose his or her own name, then no matter what name you gave them, as long as they understood it, it was fine. But the respect part was hard at times, and had she not been a Watcher for thousands of years, she would have been in trouble earlier. Many cultures she had visited not only stressed on names, but were deeply and truly insulted if a name was mispronounced, even by one syllable. She had also met people who could have cared less what they were named by, as long as they knew they were being talked to. She was one of those people. Long ago, she had watched over a young child, and no matter how hard she tried, the child could not pronounce her name. So, she abandoned trying to force people to adress her correctly. Over the last 1000 years, she had been called so many different things that Sai was not all that bad. At least he had tried to keep some semblance to her original chosen name. She listened calmly to his question, and answered immediately, no time in deliberating. Why think on an answer? That only distorted it. If you knew the answer, then it would come as you spoke. If you thought on it, it was more likely to bend the truth of the matter, and end up with something that wasn't truth, but wasn't a lie, chaos.

"Yes, that was my intention. I have heard that this place is a refuge for those who are different, who some people think do not belong in this world at all. I also have heard that those who live here have powers of their own. I needed a safe place to stay, and this seemed the safest place to be. The times are changing, and my old ways of living were becomming harder and harder. I needed to find a place to stay where my existance would not be in danger, from the wind or from people who did not understand. And that is why I cam here."

(As Sai explained herself, Daniel mentally made note of the important issues. She was weak against wind and her previous lifestyle had grown too dangerous to live by. Sai had no delay in speech, so it was apparent to Daniel that the answers were right there on her fingertips, without effort. Unlike a normal human, Sai clearly did not suffer from the problems of forgetfulness, which required a recall of information that is not always readily available. In other words, Daniel was impressed by her ability to recall and convey so easily and without anything but a straight face. Daniel understood all this, and then addressed the concern at hand.)

Daniel: The people here do all have powers or skills like you say, including the school staff. I guess I should warn you that there are some people that can use wind powers. I can point some of them out to you if we see any. Anyway, to enroll at the school, you'll have to talk to Principal Mori. He's a psychic, so be careful what you think about.

(While he spoke, a fair few questions did fill his mind now, mostly about Sai and the background of her people...who died out. Was it by natural causes that they died as they did? What caused their decline? Was it anything that they, at the school, might have to worry about? It was a matter of fact that sometimes, new students brought in new trouble.)

Daniel: And...well...since I'm the only one here to see you come, I guess I'm the one that has to say it... Welcome to Anime High School.

"In my solid human form, wind does not affect me. I rarely change into my Watcher form unless I need to move somewhere and have no other way to do it. But now that I am here, I have no use for that form until it is fully recovered. As long as I stay solid, I don't have to avoid the wind, for it can not hurt me. I have already sent in an application and was accepted though, so you need not worry about me in that matter either. Though your concern tells much for you as a person, I have no need for it. But thank you anyway, and thank you for your welcome greeting."

Was it politeness or actual gratitude that prompted that last sentence? She didn't know, nor did she care. It truly didn't matter. She was still human, she always had been. A transcended one, she had become a Watcher, but she was still human. She realised that. She could still feel like any normal human. She knew emotions. She just rarely showed them. And when she said things that showed signs of emotions, she had let it not phase her. Other Watchers had found it strange how she talked sometimes. She was able to speak with their dignity, but her humanity got the best of her at times. And even now, it didn't unsettle her as it did then. For, she had learned that even if she gave an illusion of emotion, she never felt it. At least, not in such a way that she would realize. She then looked up, as if studying the clouds. Her eyes seemed to stare off deeper though, as if reaching into the vast expanses of space.

"Principal Mori reads minds.... It should not phase you so much. Your thoughts become your words, your words your actions, your actions your habits, your habits your character, and your character your destiny. What you think should be as important as everything else. And if you must hide your thoughts, then someday you shall try and hide yourself. It has happened before, and it will happen again, to many a person. And when they hide themselves, they loose track of everything else."

She finished her sentence, then looked back at Daniel, her face the same expressionless tone, as if she was just watching him. She remembered a charge she had once. She followed the girl, watching her, and watched her make mistakes. Many nearly took her life. It had taken Sai everything she had to move the girl in every way possible to stop her from dying. That girl had finally realized Sai's presence a year before she died. They had talked for many hours together. For as a watcher, Sai was bound to her charge until her charge changed. And once realized, since she could not leave, and staying silent would only frighten the girl, she talked. Of all the things the girl said, that was the one quote that stuck. She remembered every other word said, her memory perfect, except that one little saying meant more to her than any of the others. Most other watchers held no more regard for one word or another, but for some reason, that stayed. Her advice to Daniel, she did not truly care if he took it or not, or remembered the quote. She was just giving him advice, a gentle nudge, as she had done to her charges once before. Whether he used it or forgot it, there was nothing she could do, so it didn't matter to feel about it.

(Perhaps that was the wrong kind of advice to give to her. Sai appeared to have nothing to hide, ever. So completely honest was she that her thoughts became words without delay. He was kind of relieved to hear that the wind had no effect on her human form. Also, it seemed as if she was already set up in the school, even before her arrival. Clearly, Sai was on top of things. She must have already had a room waiting. Thus, everything was A-OK, except...those words hit him with the force of a sledgehammer to his mind. Not to hide thoughts...)

Daniel: I don't have anything to hide from Mori. He's an alright guy. It's other things that worry me. Some things are just too horrible to think about. I don't want to hide things from other people, but myself. I had this...vision, or impression...of everything coming to an end.

(It was something that had been troubling him for a long time. He'd seen evil in its most concentrated form. Evil incarnate, malevolent sadists with a great desire to maim, kill, and destroy. It was by sheer coincidence that he got involved so deeply. They killed his dad at his workplace, slaughtering all others in their path. They threatened his friends, tortured the only family he had left in the world. They sat and watched as the world grew fatter and fatter, ripe for the harvesting, and that is why Daniel knew that they would destroy everything that exists.)

Daniel: It was the most horrifying thing I'd ever seen. I thought for sure that it had been sent to me deliberately. Visions of the most grueling torture ever conceived on millions of people... Sai, I don't want this truth. I know it's what they intend to do. I was told by a good friend that I have to focus on what's important and do only as much as I can do, but...what can I do?

"If you do as much as you can do, there is nothing truly more you can do, that is a basic truth by redefinition. So your friend is correct. Those who are graced, or cursed, with visions of things to come or things that might be are usually those who can truly make a difference in the end. I have watched over three children in my time that had visions such as yours. Two did everything they could, suffered endlessly, wished at times to be dead, but preserveered in the end, and what happened with them is only known in history. They became legends to their worlds. One of them ignored their vision. He did not suffer as much as the others did, but there was, and is, no hope left in his world anymore. There have been others who did not ignore their visions, and did everything they could, and yet they failed in their attempts. There have been those who have ignored them, and everything turned out for the better, in their minds. It is up to you. I can not tell you what is right and what is wrong, for those are abstract concepts that each mind understands differenly. It is up for you to decide how you wish to react to your vision, and in the end, only your choice will have any effect."

She looked at him cryptically, a hint of a smile tracing across her face, but no actual evidence there. She had been fond of her charges, that was something she knew. What little emotion she had left went to being protective of them. And he reminded her of a few of them, not knowing what to do. But as a watcher, she was unable to guide unless told to. She had to watch them make their own mistakes and fall, or rise, but mostly fall. She closed her eyes for a second, then looked at him again.

"Over the years, I have learned something. If you wish to heed it, then I hope you find it useful. If you don't, then that is your choice. Though other's ideas and opinions are of great value, in the end, only one can truly count to any person, and that is that person's opinion. So, think about it. What do you truly wish to do? Do you truely want to act? Or do you wish to ignore it? No matter which is the case, unless that is what you truely want, you will never be able to act with your full capability unless it is. A timid man can try and take a brave man's sword, but in the end, he will never be able to swing it well. A warrior can try and run and hide, but in the end, he will always end up on the battlefield. Only you can truly decide what is in store for you."

Daniel: I want to act, of course. I want to be able to see the world in good graces. This isn't something that I had flung upon me. I chose to do this thing, even as a kid.

(Perhaps if she'd watched him, she would know...that Daniel had always had strange things happening to him ever since he was really young. He'd always been able to see the astral plain, and then there was the first manifestation of his dragon powers, killing a giant spider-demon to help the other kids survive to see their next birthday. Him, Nicora, Teo, Mitski, and others. Even back then, he had had the choice all along. He chose to fight. However, while in the MassaCorp building, he had known almost total fear and hopelessness. That had been the beginning of all the trouble.)

Daniel: I do what I can. I just hope it's enough. I haven't exactly been winning lately. Well, maybe... I mean- Look, I understand that you don't take sides on what's right and wrong, but you wouldn't want pure evil to run unchecked, would you? Even if you weren't the type to fight, you'd draw the line somewhere, wouldn't you?

(His eyes said that he was seeking an understanding here. Daniel did not question his confidence or his ability, he questioned the right or the wrong of the things he knew. If he knew that the world was going to be destroyed, his visions seeing it as a total inevitability, then fighting would be useless, and that was his problem, but he didn't want that. He wanted to believe in the good fight to save the world from evil, to blow the inevitable apart. He wanted this. The dragons wanted this. Nobody would want to see the world destroyed, even corrupted as it was. His eyes seemed almost pleading. If he didn't have some sort of belief in this, and someone to understand it, then he might not see the inevitable as anything but that...which would ruin his fight.)

If only he knew. If only he knew that this very watcher fought for her life to destroy order, so that chaos could reign free. But it was not in the bad way either. She had fought the regent Metaron, and lost badly. She fought for what she believed in. Though she was a watcher, she still was human more than watcher any day. This all flickered through her mind, and she just smiled inwardly at it. She looked at him, for the first time clear emotions showing on her face. She didnt' like doing it, but she felt like it was appropriate. It wasn't going to become a regular thing, but she couldn't really help it this time.

"As long as you are fighting for what you believe in, you can do no wrong. No one can blame you. I fought for chaos once, for order was oppresive, and wanted to destroy everything that made up persons. Chaos lost, that is why I am in the condition I am in now. But as soon as I get my true form back, my goal is to gather the other fallen watchers and rise against Order again. Because, every time we attack, we change the balance by a small amount, but that still is what is needed, a small change. Though we are a peaceful people, we watch those and used to do what Order told us, to make the world better, he grew old. Metaron, his regent, is taking over. Our world, and all the worlds directly connected, are in danger. Order, in my mind, must be stopped, to let chaos, which is natural, to run free. Destroyed or not, it must be stopped. Many people disagree with us. They believe that chaos is not natural, that it must be stopped. I find Order evil, chaos good, while others find it the other way around. And we are all correct. Good and evil are subjective terms, remember that."

Whenever she said the word 'Order', the same feelings were risen up as when she had said her own name. Order was obviously the grand watcher's designation. After she stared at him, her eyes softened again, back to their old, non descript staring through forms. Her show of emotion was only temporary. She was so weak that that had been a chore for her. So, going back to her watcher emotions, she just stared at him, straight in the eye, nuetrality on her voice this time.

"Those who fight, they fight for their own reasons. Those who have the better reasons, or are willing to fight harder for their reasons, usually win. Sometimes they don't. I tried to preserve Order in all worlds, and it was difficult. I can't draw the lines in the business of those who I have no real effect on. Again, it is up to you. You can never truly feel happy unless you have felt sad before hand. And you can never truly feel victory unless you have felt loss. If you try hard enough for something you believe in, no matter what the outcome, you made a difference. Many times, a small difference in the balance of power is all that either side needed to overthrow the other. Though, it might not be in your life time, or the life time of your offspring. In fact, it may take generations to see the effects. But every single person who tries shifts the balance a small amount. And that small amount can be all that is needed to win the battle. It is hard to understand at first, and it might be impossible for someone who hasn't watched wars of a thousand years ended by a young boy and girl, or who have seen those fighting for good die under the hands of evil, so again, there is only one thing you can truly do, and that is try your hardest to shift the power. Don't always think that what you do is in vain."

(What was this, all of a sudden? Sai...changed, showing more human-like emotions... With that happening, she was almost indistinguishable from a normal human instead of being one of these watcher beings she spoke of. Right then and there, she was telling him, truly speaking to him about her own life and convictions. She and her kind...were the victims of a power so fundamentally different from the darkness he had been accustomed to. Was the thing he fought against chaotic? He thought so at times. Dead things flying in the air, trying to kill his friends. The dreaded master unstoppable... His associates devastating... Some of his friends could hope to combat the power. Not all of them could. Teo... Oh god, Teo... The things they did to him... The look of surprise on Daniel's face - his reaction to her sudden emotion - went to a look of understanding.)

Daniel: Then your fight is similar to mine. I'm sorry I troubled you like this. I believe that there is no pre-destined fate, that everything in life has a course with alot of extra branches to use, but it's really hard to see the way out when someone throws the Endgame card into play. Order and chaos are both too extreme at their maximums. There's suppose to be a balance, like counter-weights. All the archtypes keep each other on the level, eternally.

(Darkness and light, hope and despair, chaos and order - all words used as example of complete opposites who must oppose each other forever, since they lack the good graces to call it a draw. Evil proliferates easily, but good manages to stem its disaster later on. Could there be something to this meeting that could be useful...?)

Daniel: I won't give up hope... Hope is one of the only things I have left. You have you in yours. I have mine for me. I wonder... I said the problems we share seem similar...but they're more like opposites. You have Order, and I have...these demons...only they're not like that. They're spirits of some kind. I know they've been corrupting things here, amassing power. I don't know what they want, but I'm sure they won't settle for just the planet. Bit of a longshot, but do you think they might get at odds with each other?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(Downstairs, in Daniel's room, Roy awakened. He wasn't sure why it was that he awoke, but he did. He had no powers anymore, or not right now. The Red Devil had gone from him before and Daniel rescued him from the Slayers, then... Oh right... That dream... How strange a thing. Four beings, obviously demons of some sort. One was a fire demon, another was of lightning and wind, the third appeared to be a glowing skeleton like the Red Devil, and the last was a Darkness Dragon. Before the dream faded, he caught a word...)

Roy: Ramzutek...

Her voice stayed like it had before, non human this time. She really didn't have the energy anymore to expose herself. Exposing any part of herself, her body, her emotions, anything, and it would weaken her in her current state. But, she was still able to think, and when he mentioned Order and it's desicions, she had to be very careful on how she worded what she said. If she said the wrong thing, it would know, and so would Metaron, and she would be dead, in an instant. But, it was an interesting concept.

"No. Order and Metaron meddle, but watchers are weak. We have grown through ages of realization, but our bodies are mostly useless for fighting. Only a very few watchers, like Metaron, can inspire any fear anywhere, and there are not enough to fight even a small army and survive. Order works through something much much crueler. It manipulates itself in such a way that people begin to think that it is the creator. Order did not create anything. It was created, but was first, so it took the credit. What created Order, I don't know, but Order uses the mystery around itself to manipulate the beings on worlds. Our very presence can sometimes cause entire armies to falter. It has never happened here though. This world is untouched by watchers. The only thing Order could do against your demons would be to rally armies of other worlds against them. It has no reason to do this, since your demons do not pose any threat to it."

Without a second thought, she brought her hand up to her face, looking at it very carefully. She had not thought to do this before, and with one movement, brought a finger to her mouth, biting down on it, drawing blood into her mouth. The taste was new, and another thing passed into her mind with this revalation.

"Watchers are evolved in some ways, but have lost something in another way. Watchers would give anything to have flesh permanently. Though we are able to change ourselves into other beings, we can not ever become permanently flesh, we are never beings. We are always Watchers. No matter what I say, I will never be human again. Though I live in this body, I shall never belong in this form. I can not taste, smell, or feel anything but pain. I only see and hear because I need to in order to communicate. Any watcher would give his or her life in order to feel again. Some can not feel emotions, because they were once trees or animals. Order and Metaron both work on this premise. They are jealous of all those who are inferior, yet are superior in so many more ways. But they are not stupid. They would never pick a fight with an opponent whose body could overtake their own. So, no, the chance of their paths crossing is unlikely. That is, unless these demons have the power to go between worlds. If they entered the world of the watchers, then they would fight back. And then, and only then, would the watchers win. Any other way, no."

"...That is, unless these demons have the power to go between worlds. If they entered the world of the watchers, then they would fight back. And then, and only then, would the watchers win. Any other way, no."

Daniel: I see your point, although I would say that traveling through the realm of the spirits is a method of moving between worlds. I'm sure they were never of this Earth. Still, I guess I shouldn't be bothering you about this. Your whole existence is harder than I could ever have imagined...

(True, that his position was unique, but it was nothing compared to this state of Sai's being. Order - Metaron - seemed to have total control in his domain and Sai'd own kind had all but no chance to fight against him, and the chance of ever using the Brethren... It would never happen. Jump into a world where the denizens were actually capable of...defeating...them? Daniel began to wonder about that. They seemed awfully showy, at times. Inspiring fear and dread so that they could undermine the world and destroy it. They were not of this world...and they wanted to corrupt this world with their power...to gain strength! Daniel's eyes widened at the revelation. The watcher's plight had just made him realize something about his own!)

Daniel: They're weaker here! Of course! They don't come from this world, so they crossed over to destroy it from within! Sai, you're brilliant!

(She was, and she wasn't even trying. There WAS a balance. They WERE kept in check. The world was balanced against them, even though they were still quite formidable. The Brethren were defeatable! They had to be! While this world still turned, the power they had in their world was weakened!)

"Interesting revalation. Though we don't go through any realm to reach other worlds, we just use rips in the fabrics that make them. Watchers know alot about different worlds. But, there is something that I have noticed in my travels. Once, a man traveled to another world by accident. After 10 years, he got mortally ill. The same went for a young boy who once did, but it took him 15 years. While, a child of a totally different race lived in another world for her entire life, totally healthy. It depends on the race of being, the world that they originally came from, and the world they inhabit. Most times, in order to stay alive and healthy, beings must return to their own world after a few years. Perhaps it is like that for your demons. They weaken the longer they are in this world. That is why they are trying to change this world into their own, at least that is what it sounds like. Because as long as the heart of this world realizes them as a parasite, it will battle against them. Interesting. I never would have remembered that. That is a very advanced theory."

She was talking about two children she had once watched over together. The boy's father and he had both gotten mortally ill, but the girl, who came from a totally different world, had lived her entire life. Sai had wondered about this for a long time, and come up with her own theories. Only parallel worlds could support the life of those who are sent there, while worlds that weren't would end up trying to destroy the ones that seemed wrong. Just like a human body, which could be tricked into things were right or wrong. Her own world, the only reason they were able to fight so well, was because the entire world fought with them. Every step an enemy took, the entire ground around them would try and destroy them. With the watchers attacking as well, no enemy had stood. Then, another insight hit her. She asked it with such a philosophical sense that it seemed almost like she was teaching a class, and was just asking him, as if she already knew the answer. But, she didn't, and she was wondering what he would have to say about it.

"What would happen if they stayed here too long? If they gathered too much earthly power, and then tried to return to their own world? Would it reject them as this world is doing to them? And then what would they do? They would be caught between worlds, weakening no matter where they went. Maybe you can use that to your advantage. Though it might not be true, it would be useful to figure out, wouldn't you think?"

(Daniel thought it over, thinking back to the instances in which they had appeared first. It was strange... They had ambiguously terrorized many, and then dissappeared from sight, though the terror remained. They, the Brethren, were a cunning sort. He could almost feel them, working behind the scenes, only the Red Devil emerging... But when they HAD come, they were horrendous. Talon, the bringer of death, who was skilled and sadistic. Nightmare, the king of terrors. Vortek, the plague-god. Massacre...the unstoppable. They were unearthly, hideous, destructive - totally devoid of any connection to this world. They did not belong here, and they did not intend to become a part of this world. They were-)

Daniel: Dead... They're dead, Sai. I could see it in their eyes. The best we can do is destroy them, keep them out of this world, I think. They live off the power from their world, maybe from other forms of darkness. I remember... I remember seeing the energy they use on the astral plain. It was powerful, but it was coming from somewhere else. One of those rips, I think. When you said people from other worlds had to return to their own, did you mean that they would close whatever door the ycame through after them?

(He was certain that the Brethren got their energy from somewhere else, a door that was always open, a rip in dimensions that they hold open through sheer willpower and nothing more.)

Daniel: See, I don't think they're parasites, but an infection. A blight.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(His head hurt when he tried to think about that name....but there was a secret in there, something that he hadn't been able to see while a part of the Red Devil. This...Ramzutek... He WAS the Red Devil. And the others... Canti, the God of Black Flames. Ixyzion, the lord of lightning and windforce. Morgolagoth, king of the Darkness Dragons... Ramzutek was known to these three, the great purvetor of misfortune and strife. He had to tell Daniel, but where was he?)

Roy: He's always wandering off...

"It depended on the door. Some are too large for anyone but a group to close, some are too small for anyone to see, but most of all, you need to know how to close the door more than anything else. When a being creates it, then it is a door. Doors are more common than rips. Rips occur naturally, they are portals between two worlds. Watchers use rips to transport from world to world. Though, not all worlds are connected, so sometimes it takes a few days to get to the world you want. Rips can't be closed, thankfully. Doors can be. I do not know which your demon's use. It might be a door, it might be a rip they finally found. If it was a door, yes, I could close it. I would need time to recover my powers, but not even at full strength, it is not that hard. A rip is harder. Since you can't close it, it must be collapsed, and that requires alot of focus. But doors, anyone can close. I could teach you if I knew where a door was. Just requires the right focus. As for being dead, there are worlds of dead out there, so I would not be surprised if what you said was correct."

She sighed as she thought of those worlds. They were usually just midway worlds, ones she had to cross to get to who she was supposed to watch, but they were beyond her capabilities to stand. They were dank, desolate, alone, and worst of all, they radiated emotions that mingled in her human heart. And, that usually caused her to have trouble crossing them. If those beings truly were from worlds like that, she now was having second thoughts on Daniel's position. Not only from facing them, but for going anywhere near them. She had done it before, it had been almost impossible, and she wasn't even human any more. For someone who still had that part of them.... She looked at him very seriously.

"If you were to find the door that they had opened, or the rip they were using... It would resonate in your heart, and you would wish you were dead. You would not want to come any closer. To enter a world of the dead, you must give up the third part of your person. Body, Mind, and Soul, in common terms. You would give up your soul. It is a painful proccess, and after you leave, it is hard to find it again. You will never feel whole in the sense that you are again, but if you find your soul again, you will feel a different type of wholeness. In one world, the soul is called a daemon and takes an animal form. If you enter a world of the dead, your soul shall do the same, and you would have to find it. I wish you to know this before you make any desicions of proving or disproving your theory. Even if there is no rip or door in the end, there still might be. Searching could lead to one of the greatest losses you have ever sustained. I just wish to warn you."

(So, it was possible, after all. Or maybe... Well, he would have to find out. But was it a rip or a door that they used? And was it the only one or were there more? It was so hard to tell for sure... They were hypothisizing only, here. It was surprising, sometimes, what Sai seemed to know about all of this stuff. If they had arrived from another world, their power coming from that world, it seemed possible to cut them off, and yet...there was still a complication. Finding it. And while Daniel supposed that learning the technique to closing portals was a good plan, there was still...the danger...)

Daniel: Geez... I had no idea... I mean, when I first saw them, I was terrified beyond belief, but...for it all to be so final, to lose myself just like that. I never considered...

(He had to think about this. If he truly wanted to go through with something like this, was he prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice? Could he leap straight into death itself and destroy the means of the Brethren's power-gaining? And was it so convenient that a portal closing would stop them, deter them, kill them even?)

Daniel: If they truly get all their power from another world and cutting off that power would bring them to an end, then I'd stop the annihilation that I forsee...except for myself. It might just be the end for me and not the rest of the world. But...I want people to live, you know? This world is a crazy place. Bad things happen here, but I couldn't let them get wiped out and never have the chance to grow. So, even though I might die, I think that I have to do-

"No!"

Daniel: -this?

(Daniel looked over suddenly, at the voice. It was Roy, his brother. Sai would see that he had perhaps a few physical resemblances to Daniel, like his blue eyes. However, Roy was shorter and had dark-red hair. He was wearing his black jeans and maroon hooded sweatshirt, walking over to his astonished brother.)

Daniel: Roy...

Roy: You can't do it, bro. You can't just...laid down your life to get rid of these things! They don't deserve to win that, after all they've done to you!

Daniel: But Roy, what about you? You were possessed by one of them! I'd be getting rid of him too!

Roy: You're wrong... The Red Devil came from this world, Daniel. Remember my power, the Jinx? Whenever that creature is out of me, he takes it with him. He IS that power of mine. He was made from the remains of a spirit of misfortune. I had a dream about it just now, an ancient aztec demon called Ramzutek!

Daniel: But, if the Red Devil came from that, then he's more attached to this world, which means...

Roy: You can't kill him that way.

Daniel: But what about the rest of them? Surely, someone can handle the Red Devil, even if I'm gone.

Roy: I don't know... But if you die and he comes back, the first thing he'll do before taking me over again-

Daniel: Or me.

Roy: -is open up another stinkin' portal to go where the Brethren live. Then, he'll get way more powerful and they'll be back before you know it.

Daniel: Then...what do we do?

Roy: Look for a better way. You always said there was a better way. You hoped against hope that I would turn out alright, and maybe I will. If the Red Devil dies outside my body, maybe I'll just be a normal human. But if you won't give up on me, then I can't give up on you, okay?

Daniel: Okay...

(He looks over to Sai, who must be either very confused or very interested by this display...)

Daniel: I think I'll be changing my vote to avoiding death and self-sacrifice until I know at least that I can get them all. He's right, you know, Sai. If his personal devil is from this world, portal-closing won't stop a thing. Thay may have seen this coming.

OOC: Mind you, the kind of world they come from isn't dead. It's just mostly evil.

Sai watched as another person came out onto the roof, obviously looking for Daniel. From what she heard, his name was Roy, and they acted like close friends, if not brothers, though she couldn't really decipher a family resemblance. Except the eyes. They were the same as Daniel's. And that was rare amongst people who weren't related. While they talked, she listened and observed, noting things about Roy like she had done about Daniel. He seemed tired, not like he needed sleep, but just exhausted permanently. She wondered if it had anything to do with his personal demon that they had been talking about. Most likely it did, but she wasn't sure. She didn't understand all of it, but she made connections where she needed to. It was interesting, but so was Daniel in general to her. Most other people, whether from this world or another, were much more immature and selfish at this age. Then she reminded herself of the Dust around him. She should not be so surprised, and she knew it. She was impressed though, no matter how she tried to rethink her feelings.

"I understand. Rips are much harder to close, and you could not do it if it was indeed a rip. I would have to be the one doing it, or another Watcher, and collapsing it would lead to an inbalance amongst the worlds, something that I could not reccomend unless is absolutely needed. But, I was not going to stop you if you wanted to try. I doubt that I could of."

Now she wandered off into the realm of wonders and guesses, and using her limited resources, began to form her own theory. She did this often, and it worked many times. So far Daniel had made exceedingly good thought chains just from listening to facts, so theories would do even better, she was able to tell.

"If his personal devil is from this world, and he is able to open up doors to other worlds, subduing, trapping, or killing him would be the only options if you wished for him not to open another one. His power seems immense though, the way you talk of him, so that would be harder to accomplish if that is true. I would not close a door if another one was to be opened. The reprucusions are too high. And trapping him in another world so his power is sapped away would not work either, as long as he is able to open doors. Whatever allows him to do so would have to be removed before you could try any strategy that required closing off the other dark forces. Or, you would have to take a different path in destroying them."

Daniel: That means...

Roy The Red Devil must die.

(Silence...as the two brothers dwelled upon that thought. The Red Devil had been born of this world by otherworldly powers. By all the logic of what they and Sai had come up with, it was impossible to flush the Brethren away with this guy here, and that even the Brethren themselves would be hard to ever cut off from their power. Still, grim as it was, this was what had to be done.)

Roy: We're kinda' lucky, you know?

Daniel: Why? Do you have a power for good luck too?

Roy: Look, I know that I'm just a haven for misfortune and all, but I could never have found out this stuff without hearing them talk, without being a part of the Red Devil.

Daniel: Yeah, but meanwhile, you have a charter member to the Brethren society taking your body out for a spin. Not my idea of a good time...

Roy: You'll find a way to beat him. He's the weakest of them all.

Daniel: That may be so, but I'm still not killing you. I don't even know if that'll work!

Roy: While he's in me, he has to be bound to my lifeforce, otherwise he's just a useless ghost. The only reason I'm here like this is because of some powerful sorcery. He WILL return, Daniel.

Daniel: I know...

(RD could possess either one of them, as they were linked by bloodline. He represented the very thing that had destroyed their family. Daniel and Roy were technically half-brothers, having had two separate mothers. Their parents were dead, Roy's life was misery, and Daniel had almost nobody in his life who wasn't touched by evil in some form or another. Whenever the Brethren hit someone, they hit them hard... Getting rid of them would be an uphill battle that would seemingly never end. It would be worse than hell.)

Daniel: Let's go...

Roy: Go where?

Daniel: Whether the Brethren are beaten or forced back to their realm, we have to find the portal that they came from. Rip or door, it will need to be shut, or else we'll never be rid of their evil. You know they have servants coming through to this world all the time.

Roy: How will we find it?

Daniel: It'll be on the astral plain, mostly. They've been bringing in alot of spirit-creatures around. Their portal... It's scar-shaped. I remember seeing it Downtown.

(The scar-portal was what he remembered. It was where the sickening life-like qualities of the MassaCorp building came from, not to mention the horrible demons... He saw it for what it was when Teo Minamino was able to send an astral form to look at it. The Brethren didn't like him poking around, so they...and then his brother went and... He was so confused... Daniel now looked over to Sai. He knew what the first step would have to be, but while Sai would notice determination on Daniel's face, she would also see some fear.)

Daniel: I know you're not at full-strength, but we'd be grateful if you helped us out some. If you're still tired from your journey, we can wait.

It was strange to her the way they were talking amongst themselves. It seemed that this Red Devil was linked to both of them, and took their life force for his own, their bodies for his own use and manipulation. And it seemed that if they could destroy one another while the Devil was possesing them, it would end not only their life force, but the life force of the devil. But of course, they seemed reticent to take this action. Not even Sai was willing to die, even though she had been alive for over 5,000 years. These were just children in her eyes, and they deserved to live much longer lives. And then, she remembered. When she was human.... it was a faint memory, but it gave her reason to act. Reason to love them like children. Reason to sacrifice herself for them.

"I will help as much as I can. I might be able to sense out the scar in my Watcher form, but I will not risk that until we are closer to where you saw it. As you know, wind is a bit of trouble for me at the moment. And if anything decided to come from this scar to attack me, it would mean instant death. I am not fatigued though, I am used to flying for days without rest. But I am still weak, so I am giving my life to you to use as you wish. I am ages old, but will do whatever I can to help you. Though I am a follower of order, these beasts create a disbalance in the world, and if being a Watcher means anything, it means protecting order. Though I fight for Chaos, I shall protect the order of this world."

She nodded to Daniel, walking up to him, ready to do whatever she needed. She had a feeling that this would be a rip. And if it was, she would collapse it without any second thought. Of course, how she would collapse it, she wouldn't mention. If it was too big, well..... she would do whatever it took. She didn't know why, but Daniel reminded her of someone she once had, and had lost.

Daniel: Thanks, Sai, but I won't let you get hurt either, even if it's one of them. I...well...I admire your cause and I wouldn't want to keep you from it. So, you'll understand me when I say that I don't want anyone to give their life for me.

(He had returned to a calmer state. Daniel only wanted to give others the chance they needed to live out their lives the way they want to. He believed in noble cuases. Despite everything he had been through, he had actually saved someone from a terrible plight, the same one who gave him the advice he needed to keep on plowing ahead. Makoto was her name, and she was like a sister to him. He wouldn't carve the Brethren up, stepping over the corpses of his friends. Never. Not even if it was the only way...)

Roy: I'd like to help, but...all I've got is your old shotgun.

Daniel: It works against some things. I can't depend on my powers anyway, not completely.

Roy: I don't think I should go. They might try to capture me for safekeeping. They'll be waiting for Red Devil's return so I can be his body again...

Daniel: I'll need you so I know what the Brethren can do and what they'll do. You might be the only one who can pinpoint them.

Roy: Alright... I'll go....

(Turning back to Sai once more, Daniel wondered... Where had he heard of something like this before? He couldn't remember. Shrugging, he now produced a half-smile, saying...)

Daniel: Dangerous as hell, but...at least you get a full tour of the area. We'll be heading Downtown first. It's where I first saw them. They might still be hanging about there.

OOC: I'll make a post.
