It had been a long time since Eli last visited Nydrai; during the last encounter, he had been enchanted with the powers of Psynergy, along with Miya. Eli was to then carry out a destiny in Nydrai, but he was absolutely unaware as to what that was. He figured it would come one day. But for now, he needed to practise his Psynergy and learn a few new skills. And there was one logical place to go in Nydrai to learn new skills related to Psynergy – the Oracle, a man who lived just north of Helios, the town where Kamila came from, situated in the Yampi desert. Eli made sure he had all he needed for his adventure – the Maga-No-Ikutachi, his forever-loyal sword with the spirit of his Grandfather borne inside it; a satchel of gems of various sorts and ensured – though totally unnecessary as it was – that he was wearing his white robe. And so, with a clean slice of his left index claw, he cut himself a shimmering white portal to Nydrai, the realm in which the powers of the Alchemy he perused were common. The portal took him directly to the Oracle, the familiar hut resting in front of him. Sand whipped around the hanyou as he strode towards the shanty, his face totally blank and neutral, and his crimson eyes burning with the passion that he bore from so long ago. The passion to learn, the passion to empower himself, the power to become stronger in every respect. It was from the Oracle that he had received the powers of Psynergy, and it was from the Oracle that everything he had learned in this realm had essentially come. The Oracle was like Eli’s guide, and Eli respected the Oracle greatly. He was probably the most powerful man in Nydrai – and he bore a trait that every other Adept could never achieve – the power of bearing all four Elements. “Oracle? Oracle? It’s me, Eli!” the boy called through the hut gently, his eyes sweeping the first room of the Oracle’s home. Eli was always welcome here, and Eli knew as such. The place was so familiar to him, and it seemed so…comforting. However, Eli knew to be on his guard constantly – for the Oracle bore powers that no other Adept could have – such as invisibility. And then it struck Eli. He whipped around, and then realised. He was sneaking up from behind. “Two meters north, Oracle; you cannot win.” Eli murmured, and the wizened old man revealed himself. Grey hair and a black robe were what he wore. “Well done. You’ve been practising.” “Not so much practising as that I’m here for a purpose. I need a book.” Using one of the powers of Wind Psynergy, Mind Read, the Oracle determined what it was that Eli wanted. “You want a book on studying Fire Psynergy. I’ll be glad to give that to you now; but there is another challenge I expect you to complete.” “You and your challenges, Oracle; I’ll do it.” “Excellent. It has numerous parts; all of which I am assured you can do. While you’re there, you’ll be able to make use of the book, I assume. Also, you are not to use Ke’Nara until this is all over.” “Fine. Tell me what I’m doing so I can be on my merry way.” “You’re going to craft a sword.” “That’s it?” Eli exclaimed. “No, that is not it. You see, the sword’s hilt will have six dimples, each the same size. This sword is the legendary Ke’Nara; a blade that bears the powers of every element of the Verita in crystals and symbolises power.” “So you want me to visit every Tribe after I craft this sword and get a crystal?” “Correct. Then come back here and show me the finished product. Also, be warned – Every Tribe will expect you to perform a task. I imagine the Fire Tribe will be simple – possibly learning a new Psynergy. But the others may not. Although, you know where to find them, so that narrows down the challenge. Eli, I am counting on you. The wielder of Ke’Nara is destined to lead the way for the peoples of Nydrai to a new beginning, when the world ends.” “…Ends…?” “…Ends. Though, we will discuss this if you retrieve the crystals blessed by the Tribes.” “Very well. Oracle, show me the sword’s plan.” The Oracle concentrated for a few seconds, and created a large lump of adamantium and mythril. Then, he focused a little more, and mixed the two into one. The alloy was as tough as adamantium but as shiny and almost as light as mythril. “You will make Ke’Nara from this substance, Eli. When you have done so, you may leave. And here is the plan for the sword.” The Oracle instructed sagely and handed the boy a sheaf of paper. Eli accepted it and looked at the pile of metal. “And I’m expected to use this...how?” “I don’t know, honestly.” “I do, Oracle.” Eli said, laughing for a second before cutting a portal into the Makai and retrieving his forging tools – the bench as well. Everything he needed from the cave was here, and he took the plasma torch and cut off a large chunk of the alloy, and melted it down into the pot he used for shaping metals. He studied the plan carefully, and began moulding the metal with his bare hands, the Oracle looking on in amazement. He had never been able to do such a thing with his hands. “How is it you are able to do this?” he inquired. “I’ve learned from the best, Oracle.” Eli simply replied. The blade came first, as it was so simple. The hilt wasn’t that much harder, but Eli preferred working with the blade first. He couldn’t make it as sharp as he wanted with his hands, but after the basic shape was done, he could. After about an hour, the blade was complete, and then he moved onto the hilt, taking even more care with it, still only using his hands. Detailing could come later. He could use his claws for minor detailing, but…this sword was too ornate. Finally, three hours later, the sword, with the six dimples, was complete. “I’ll…be off then, Oracle…” Eli said, opening another portal to the Makai to place all of his equipment away. He sealed that, and then opened a portal to where he knew the Onoo tribe of the Verita to be. The Onoo tribe regarded him as one of their own, and welcomed him with open arms. “Very well. May the Wise One guide you.” The Oracle acknowledged, using a sort of prayer for the boy as he stepped through the portal. “And with you, Oracle.” Eli returned, closing the portal behind him. And here began the adventure of a lifetime…The unification of the Verita… |

And so it came to pass the Elijin Bladesong was given the daunting task of proving his worth to the six tribes of the Verita. He had a rough idea as to which order to perform the task – the order in which he had met the tribes. Regardless, Eli was going to complete the tasks quickly, and when he did, he would return to the Oracle and learn of this secret. He closed the portal gently, and set foot through the desert towards the very close by city of Onoora, the home of the Onoo tribe of the Verita race. The sands beneath his feet were burning hot, but Eli seemed not to care - his feet were adapted to walking on hot sands. Eli continued on steadfastly, his resolve unbreakable to accomplish his goal. As soon as he got to his destination, he’d do anything to get that ruby. A blessed ruby, he reminded himself, inscribed with the Japanese kanji for fire, as he also reminded himself. It seemed that kanji worked on everything. And so he arrived at the gates of Onoora. He opened the gates himself, for the only way was to open the gates with any display of fire magic. He used his Psynergy to do it, and walked in. Immediately, he was swamped by some of the city’s kids. “Hey, everyone! It’s Eli!” “Hooray! Eli!” “Yay! Now Eli can play with us!” This always brought a smile to Eli’s eye. These kids were no older than seven, and as such, had no idea what the real world was like – they lived merrily in their own make-believe world of happiness. Something I can never experience again. I’m happy for them. “No, no. I have some important business here.” At that moment, Eli whipped out Ke’nara. “Whoa...Ke’Nara!” they gasped. “So, the legend of Ke’Nara is familiar?” Eli said with a smile. “Of course, dummy!” one of them laughed. “Well, that’s what I’m here for.” Eli told them. “Hey, Eli…You going to visit Karisa?” one asked. “Karisa….” Eli said thoughtfully. Karisa was probably the most beautiful girl in all of Nydrai. She had long brown hair, brown eyes, fair skin…and she lacked not in the chest department. But the problem was, the leader of the Onoo tribe wanted Karisa and Eli to marry. Eli wasn’t ready for such things, of course. “Eli and Karisa, sitting in a tree…” they began the classic sing-song rhyme. “Oh shut up, you guys…I do NOT like Karisa.” Eli said, and re-sheathed Ke’Nara. “Now, I’m off; I have to visit the Khan.” Eli smiled and waved, the children waving back. He walked off gently, his footsteps not echoing upon the ground. Ahead, the dome Chambers of Council lay. The Chamber is where the Council of Elders, made up of five members, took session daily. The Council was the ruling body of the entire Tribe. The council consisted of four members and the Khan, the leader of the Onoo tribe. The council was essentially there as simple advisors. Eli opened the door, and stood in the doorway. The council members sat on their usual ornate red cushions…and another Verita stood to the side. Karisa. “Eli.” She said with a smile, trying to draw him in for a quick embrace and a light kiss. “Karisa.” Eli replied, a small smile coming back to his face, while only accepting the hug. “But it is not you, Karisa, I have come for. No, I have destiny at my side.” A double entendre. Eli kneeled in front of the Khan, and unsheathed Ke’Nara, presenting it to the Khan. All six Verita gasped at the sight of the sword. “Eli, we had no idea…” the Khan began. “We will grant you the Onoo Ruby should you learn a new Psynergy of our choosing.” “I still only know Flare. D’you think I could learn Fire?” Eli suggested. “Fire it is.” The Khan agreed. “Also, I brought a book for my use – from the Oracle. It has every Mars Psynergy ever in it.” “Excellent! You have four hours to master the technique. Karisa will be assisting you; she also knows the technique.” “As you wish. Come, Karisa. We have work to do.” Eli said, bowing, and taking Ke’Nara with him. Karisa followed obediently, and the two moved off to Karisa’s home. Karisa lived alone; her parents died a number of years ago. Thusly, it was the perfect place to practise. The two sat alone, in the centre of the single room’s floor. “Focus your energy, Eli…” Karisa said, massaging his shoulders and kissing the nape of his neck repeatedly. You’re a distraction, if anything…that was the challenge. You’re also damned irritating. “Karisa…” Eli murmured, and closed his eyes. She stopped momentarily. She knew that tone. Eli concentrated his energy, and released a small bolt of Psynergetical fire. “Hey, that was good. Now do it again. More power, more focus.” Karisa told him. “Then…for a moment…stop with the kissing? I know you have the hots for me; you don’t need to show it while I’m trying to preserve the future of Nydrai.” “I…I understand.” Karisa stammered, as Eli meditated. The meditation itself took two hours. That was why he complained not about the length of time. The challenge was to get Karisa to stop for that long. Silence and motion… Darkness and power… Destiny and the future… I am the Chosen. These same thoughts echoed in his brain for two hours. These same thoughts, surprisingly, brought him the inner strength he needed to produce the Psynergy he needed to finish the challenge. “Fire.” He murmured, stretching one hand out gently while conjuring a ball of Psynergy and firing it at a jar on the shelf at the back wall. A fireball shot forth at the jar, smashing it to pieces. “That was good.” Karisa told Eli, as she helped him to his feet. “Now, we go demonstrate this to the Khan.” Eli murmured, and stalked out gently. There was the final demonstration to receive the Onoo Ruby. The Ruby was the first of six gems he needed. But those gems would be invaluable. So once more, he performed the Fire Psynergy. And this time, it was flawless, and required no prior practise. “Excellent, Eli! You truly are a welcome addition to the Onoo clan. We present you with the Onoo Ruby; engraved, as it must be. Place it in and I will enchant the gem to stick in forever.” The Khan said, handing over the ruby. Eli took it in his hand and placed it in the first top hole, the Khan casting some sort of Veritan spell to make it stay in the sword. “I thank you, Onoo-Khan.” “You, Eli, are going to be a fine bearer of Ke’Nara. You will fulfil the legend easily.” “And once more, I thank you, Onoo-Khan, for placing your trust in me.” “I know it is not misplaced, my boy. You’ve proven yourself.” “I should go now. This is but the first trial of many; the other Khans will definitely be harsher. Koku-Khan and Kari-Khan will most likely pit me in a battle situation, knowing the tenacities of Sol and Luna. Though I suspect Kari-Khan may go easy on me, for I’ve befriended an ostracised member of their Tribe.” “May Mars shine on you, Bearer of Ke’Nara. Go forth.” “As you command, Onoo-Khan.” Eli left the building. However, Karisa followed him. “Eli, wait.” “What, Karisa?” Eli snapped. “I’m going to just tell you. I have no interest in you, alright? I don’t want to have any…physical relations, as it were…with you, nor do I want a relationship. I’m sorry, but right now, I just don’t have the time.” “Sorry, then…” Karisa turned and ran, crying. “Well, that’s it. No need to bother with her, really. Not worth my time. Next stop, Izura.” Eli conjured up another portal, this one to the Izu, or Water Tribe’s home. This would be interesting… |

It had been some time since he had visited Izura, for he had only once visited it during his travels. Thanks to the fact he was a Fire Adept, they had a natural distrust of Eli – Fire and Water Psynergies were opposite. However, with Ke’Nara and one crystal, they might have a little more trust in the boy. The portal he cut took him directly to the Chambers of Council, where he needed to be. Gently, he pushed open the door, and walked to the centre of the room directly, bowing to each member of the Council after the Khan. “Young one, we remember you. But why have you visited Izura?” came the Khan’s question. It wasn’t known, but when the Khan was speaking to anyone, the other members of the Council were forbidden to speak. “I am here, to ask for the Izu Sapphire.” “And why, pray tell, would we simply give you our crystal?” “For I bear Ke’Nara, and I’m requesting my trial.” Eli said simply, unsheathing the sword and placing it on the ground before the Khan. “So, the legends were right.” The Khan muttered, inaudibly. “Very well, we will give you your test.” The Verita added aloud. “What must I do, Izu-Khan?” Eli asked of the elder. “You are aware that this city is on the water’s edge. Lately, a group of Hunter-Sharks have been ravaging our fishing boats. You are to go out with one such boat and defend it successfully. Without these boats, our people starve. Good luck, Eli Bladesong.” Eli bowed, collected Ke’Nara, and walked out of the building in his thoughts. What I don’t get is why they can’t just do it themselves. They’re water creatures, so Mars Psynergy will not work on them, so I will have to use Maga-No-Ikutachi, with or without the flame. It’s a shame I didn’t bring a gun, though. Regardless, I could use Youki and Reiki. I have options, many options. Eli walked quietly towards the pier, ignoring many of the stares from the Izu Tribe members. Naturally, he was distrusted here due to his status as a Fire Adept, but regardless, Eli took it all in his stride. If he could successfully get the Izu Sapphire, the Izu Tribe may have ended their contemptuous ways. There was always hope in his heart, for that is what he truly believed in. Hope was never lost until there truly was no other way out. He didn’t believe in God or divine will anything except being born for a purpose, a v’tar. His v’tar was that he was to lead his people to victory and fight as a powerful warrior. He was bred for death and destruction…and that was what he did best in the world. He could fight with any weapon, defeat any opponent given the time, overcome essentially any obstacle, and could out-perform some of the greatest Generals there ever was. It was amazing as to how much he could do. Eli spent the day wandering around Izura, visiting libraries and museums, and generally learning about the populace of the entire race of the Verita as a whole. There wasn’t much Alora could tell him, really, as she hadn’t spent too much time in Nydrai. Therefore, when he needed to know, he came to the wise ones – the Izu tribe of the Verita. He learned a lot, and he would continue learning. He also spent some time at the local school. He spent some time in lessons, and learnt a little about how Veritan culture worked from the classes he went to. It was interesting – it wasn’t that much different from what he knew as the Ningenkai, or simply Earth. The structure was similar, but some content varied. And he marvelled in the way they learned – it reminded him of Japan, yet less…strict, as it were. They studied hard, but the setting was a little more casual – they weren’t forced to call their teacher by their last names. After he went to the schoolhouse, he meandered down towards the beach. He lay in front of the low limestone wall that was designed to prevent any high tides from coming into the city proper. There were lots of people down at the water’s edge, enjoying the surf, sun and sand. Overhead, the sun was setting very slowly, but people were enjoying their day nonetheless. The sky was an ever-beautiful setting of orange, yellow and a little bit of red. Sunsets were always perceived as beautiful in the eyes of Eli as he sat there quietly, wondering about what the Hunter-Sharks were like. This would be a dangerous task…but he would overcome it. He always won, somehow, in the end. And now, it was getting dark. Eli gazed out towards the water, still lying on the beach, the gentle sea breeze blowing gently around him and rustling the orange tree nearby. It was a peaceful night, so far. The twin moons overhead were glowing with a pale whiteness comparable to that of Earth, the ripples in the water were making their very gentle lapping sound against the beach and the ballasts of the nearby fishing pier; and the seabirds overhead were crowing quietly. The inky darkness of night was so…refreshing. It was probably getting close to midnight, as well. He’d been lying there for six hours. And so, he rose from his lying position and walked to the fishing pier, where a group of sailors and fishermen were slowly gathering. Eli knew that this was the group that he was to travel with, for one waved him over with a smile. “Aye, you would be Eli Bladesong, bearer of Ke’Nara?” he asked promptly, not wasting any time in questioning the boy. “Yes, that’s me.” Eli responded. “Aye. Well, that’s everyone, so I think it’s time to go. All aboard, we have some fish to catch.” The sailor announced. Evidently, he was the captain of the expedition, and wore the captain’s hat proudly. One by one, the seamen and Eli boarded the fishing boat, and the last one on took the rope off the ballast. Eli stood beside the Captain and First Mate in the bridge of the ship. It was a wooden sailing boat, complete with large sail and long hull. It was designed to carry a large amount of fish, or passengers. This type of boat was standard in Nydrai, as he had learned in the library, and they simply just called them longboats. “So, these Hunter-Shark attacks have been going on for the past month, and none of you can deal with it? I thought Mercury Psynergy included something to deal with itself.” Eli inquired of the First Mate, currently not doing anything. “No, you’re thinking of Jupiter Psynergy, my boy.” “Oh, yeah. My bad.” Eli said. “No need to be ashamed. You’re concerned with Mars Psynergies, and I’d allow for a little mistake. But yes, the attacks are getting bigger. Last time, we even saw a Hunter-Shark twice the size of the others out there – we expect it’s the mother. So this time, we think we may get two large ones, and could kill off the entire Hunter-Shark group.” “I see. Can you tell me what you’ve found out about them? Resistances, anything.” “Resistant to anything but Jupiter Psynergy. We don’t know anything past that – we can’t get close enough to hit them.” “Don’t worry, then. I can jump off and fight if I have to – I could probably use Youki and Reiki to pick them off at a distance then jump in and fight with Maga-no-Ikutachi.” “We know about the sword, but what’s Youki and Reiki?” the Captain asked, perplexed. “Youki and Reiki…Well, they’re basically demon and human ki, respectively. Inner energy that manifests itself as a physical form and can be manipulated by the wielder. Youki is black, Reiki is white, and I like to combine them for attacks.” Eli informed the two men, who understood from this brief explanation. “I get it, now. So you’ll shoot them with this ki stuff, and then jump in to kill whatever you miss?” “Pretty much.” Eli said with a firm nod. “I’ll probably use my Nu’Il STORM technique I devised.” When they looked confused, Eli added quickly, “Nu’Il STORM, or Strengthened Tactical Offensive Reiki Massacre. Basically what happens is that every enemy I can perceive using my Energy Sensing technique gets a strong blast of Reiki directed at them. Last time I used it, I killed about thirty men.” “…Strong, indeed.” “Captain! They’re coming!” the seaman in the crow’s nest called. “Port bow!” “I’m going.” Eli said, and then raced out to see the sharks. He could see ten fins…and two larger ones. It was time. “Nu’Il STORM!” he cried into the darkness. Glowing white beams pierced the water, one by one, and knocked the ten smaller sharks out of the water, visibly dead. The two larger ones were absolutely unfazed. “Shit.” Eli murmured. He could tell that they didn’t take any damage. Eli unsheathed Maga-No-Ikutachi and Ke’Nara, handing the latter to a seaman below. “Take care of it, will you?” Eli asked, before jumping from his post and running the length of the ship and leaping over the water. He landed…on top of one of the sharks. Eli stabbed down, but the shark moved to the side, evading the blow. Grandfather, you need to help me. Alright. Eli brought the blade over his head, and leapt towards the shark, stabbing downwards the split second he was over the middle of the shark, spearing it through the head. As it reared its head up in pain, Eli hit the water and slashed the shark open. “One.” He muttered and pulled the sword back, throwing it at the second shark as fast as he could. The sword stuck in the side. “Shu’kai nal ishni raiku karaii’sho!” he shouted, the flame coming to life…inside the shark. The shark burned, and roasted from the inside, killing it within seconds. El laughed, and retrieved his sword from the dead predator’s carcass, swimming back towards the boat. He climbed over the railing and bowed to the captain, and told him with a smile that they were all dead. He spent the trip underneath the main deck, warming up. Five hours later, they had returned to Izura. The Captain accompanied Eli to the Council Chambers, and Eli presented Ke’Nara to the Khan as the captain recited the tale of what happened. “He fought bravely, and successfully. The Hunter-Sharks are dead.” “And for that, Eli Bladesong, I present you with the Izu Sapphire. Place it in the sword so I may perform the ritual spell.” Eli placed it in the second top slot, and watched the spell again. “Thank you. I go in peace, Izu-Khan.” “Come back when you want. “Thank you.” Eli bowed and left, cutting himself a portal to his next destination…the city of Kyuura, the home of the Kyuu, or Wind Tribe. |

Kyuura was a peaceful enough place, definitely. The Kyuu tribe believed in total pacifism, unlike the Kari and Koku tribes, who advocated warfare – and showed it. Eli was here in peace; therefore, he peace-tied the Maga-No-Ikutachi to prove he was here to be peaceful. Ke’Nara, on the other hand, was not. Though for a totally different reason – Ke’Nara was not meant to be peace-tied, for it was a sword of unity and peace. The kicker of Kyuura was that it wasn’t a city bordered by mountains. Instead, Kyuura was inside the mountains. The largest mountain bore the Chambers of Council for Kyuura, and the Kyuu tribe had their residency in the mountain next to it, while on the other side of that was the commercial district. It was a maze, much like an underground network of an anthill. Eli marched up to the hillside, and placed his hand on where the entrance was designed to be, and he phased right through the solid mountain. Unlike back in Izura, people here actually liked him to a degree, and smiled at him as they passed; while he continued his upwards climb towards the inner summit of the mountain. Well, at least, I’ll get some exercise from this. Eli walked for what felt like three hours to reach the Council chambers; though this was absolutely not the case – it was merely an hour and a half (merely being the comparison). As soon as he found the entrance to the Council chambers, he bowed to the Khan and council members, taking a seated position in the middle of the room. “Eli Bladesong. What may we do for you, mighty warrior?” the Khan asked. “Kyuu-Khan, I am here on a mission from the Oracle.” Eli told them, unsheathing Ke’nara for the third time to present to a Khan. “Ke’Nara. Say no more, young one, for we understand your purpose. You wish to have the Kyuu Topaz?” “Kyuu Topaz, correct. Please, present me with a task, Kyuu-Khan.” Eli asked humbly. “Very well. Underneath the mountain, there is a shallow underground lake, ringed with glowing blue crystal formations. You are to sit in the middle of this lake for twelve hours. By this time, the day cycle will be well underway.” “And the objective of this task is?” “To test your will. You must remain awake, and not move from a meditative position. I will have somebody escort you down – our Wizard.” “Wizard Arenas, correct?” “Very good, Eli. Now, go. You have a difficult task ahead of you – beware the mind monsters. You may use only Psynergy if you are attacked.” “As you say. Where shall I meed Arenas?” “I am here, Eli.” An old voice came from the doorway. “Arenas. Come on then, we have work to do.” Eli said, bowing and collecting Ke’Nara. Eli and the Wizard took their merry time walking down the hills, until Arenas came up with an idea. “Let’s not walk to the Underground levels – let’s just cut a path straight down.” “And we’re gonna break our fall…how?” Eli asked. “We make an elevator out of it.” “I think I get it.” Eli said, working it out in his head. A cup-like thing suspended on earthen cabling. It was genius. “Yeah, let’s do it.” Eli affirmed, and then watched the Wizard do his thing. The hole appeared as did the cup and cabling. “Now hop in,” the Wizard said, leaping over the side of the cup and standing in. Eli did the same, holding onto the edge. This would cut the trip down to about five minutes…to the underground level anyway. There was still the problem of getting down there first. The cup was propelled downwards, and stopped at the ground level five minutes later – five minutes and forty-two seconds to be precise. The two passengers disembarked, and stood on the ground. “Now, Eli, use your logic and look around. We get down to the bottom by…?” Arenas asked. Eli looked around carefully. The room was like a cube; ten meters by ten meters by ten meters, with very bumpy walls and now a direct hole in the roof. It looked mostly spartan, except for the very small marking on the flor that no ordinary human could pick up without extensive searching, but thanks to having an enhanced sense of sight, he found it relatively easily. Eli pointed to the sigil. “Correct. Now, how do you figure we open it?” Arenas asked. This was all about Eli’s mental will, evidently. If Eli passed every challenge presented, he would prove himself as a great thinker, worthy of joining the ranks of the Kyuu tribe, a race of great thinkers, philosophers and other such things. Eli stepped over to the sigil and examined it closely. It was the symbol of Venus. Which meant but one thing. “Please empower it with Venus Psynergetical energy for me.” Eli stated, stepping to the side. The Wizard closed his eyes and rushed Earth energy at the symbol, which caused a hole with an ancient plate over the top to appear. “Excellent, Eli. You’ve passed the first phase of the challenge. Now, step onto the plate. We will watch you from the Chambers.” “As you say.” Eli said, stepping onto the plate. The wizard took the cup back up to the Council chambers, and Eli went downwards on the plate. He figured it was ancient technology, from before even Pharaoh Inarus journeyed to Nydrai through his unfortunate mishap. He wondered where it came from, but really, it wasn’t the time to consider such things when the future of Nydrai was at stake. After one minute of going straight through a rock tunnel, Eli arrived directly beside the spot at which he was to sit. It was crystal clear water, illuminated blue by the crystal formations around the room. Before he sat, he decided to take a look around the room. He moved over to a piece of crystal and picked it up. “No doubt, it’s piece of Psynergy Crystal.” Eli was amazed. A real formation of Psynergy Crystal, here. He pocketed it, and felt the warmth inside the pocket of his robe. It…was empowering. He hoped that power could get him through this task. If he completed this, there would be three more tasks to complete, two of which were evidently combat tasks, set by the Koku and Kari Tribes, the tribes of Dark and Light respectively. Eli took his position, and hoping they could hear him, he took the meditative position he did when he was doing such things and closed his eyes. “I am ready. Begin the task.” He murmured and slowly slipped into his meditative thought patterns. Eli. Yes? Are you all right? Of course I am, Grandfather. Then watch out for the creatures coming. Don’t open your eyes. Use Psynergy and Energy Sensing. Eli understood and did what eh was told, unleashing a torrent of Flare, a Mars Psynergy, at the creatures. He didn’t know what they were, only that they were hostile. Three seconds after launching the first offensive, it was over. Well, done that. Now sit quietly. I’ll alert you if anything comes. Play the usual mind game. The ‘usual mind game’ referred to a game they had devised during meditative periods - Eli was to devise one of three things – a tactical situation, a political situation or a battle in his mind, and play it out. These games could last days. But he only needed twelve house of entertainment. And so, he did. Exactly eleven hours passed, uneventfully. Ten battles, fourteen political situations and six tactical situations had passed quietly. And it wouldn’t come cheaply. Eli Bladesong. Yes? Prepare to battle…for your mind. Live or die. Very well. This was part of the challenge – to fight a mind creature. It was a duel, inside his head. And furthermore, his enemy took his own form. And the difficult part was, he bore Ke’Nara. But Eli couldn’t tell whether they shared powers. It would be a battle of sword skill, Eli reckoned. He ignited Maga-No-Ikutachi and charged towards the clone. He slashed quickly, a horizontal spinning slice. The clone blocked and went to thrust at his head. The second the clone tried this, Eli had already kicked him over. Die. Eli stabbed the clone as he thought thus, and Eli won instantly. But somehow…the clone had distorted time. “Eli. Your time is up. You have succeeded.” Came a voice from nowhere. The end of the challenge was to beat himself! Eli stood, and stood upon the plate, riding it straight back up to the Chambers of Council. Eli unsheathed Ke’Nara, and saw the Kyuu Topaz on the floor, cut for him and engraved as it should be. Eli placed it into the first middle hole, and watched the Kyuu-Khan enchant the sword with the required energies. “Well done, Eli. Go forth; your next challenge should be Aze.” “As you will, Kyuu-Khan.” Eli said, then bowed. He cut himself a portal, to Azera, the town of the Aze, or Air, Tribe. This was going to be a little harder… |

Now with the crystals of Onoo, Izu and Kyuu, Eli set out to obtain the crystal of Aze, the Aze Emerald, the gem of Air. This gem would essentially mean he was done with the four main Elements and would then need to move on to the two more powerful elements – Sol and Luna, Light and Dark, Kari and Koku. So here he was faced with the challenge of not only locating the Chambers of Council, but the task of which he was to be set. Azera was built...of all places…in these extremely large trees. Every member of the Aze tribe could fly, too. So this was a challenge – could Eli leap that far in order to get to where he needed to be? Or would he have to climb trees? But before that, he needed to locate the building. And that was impossible. Eli needed then to ask a Aze Tribe Verita flying around. One seemed to be flying towards him, propelling themselves on pure Psynergy. “Hey! Excuse me!” Eli called to the Verita, hoping that they would be friendly enough to answer his plight. The Verita stopped, landed on their feet and walked towards Eli. “Yes? What can I do for you, young one?” he asked. He was clearly an elderly Verita. “Can you show me where the Chambers of Council are, please? I’m here on an extremely important mission.” Eli told the venerable Verita. “Well, can you fly?” he asked simply, as if it were an obvious question. “Well…no.” Eli replied, rather meekly. It was a little shameful. “Could you tell me what tree it’s in, though?” “I’ll fly to it. Meet me there.” The Verita announced and flew off, Eli running as fast as he could behind – the Verita flew quickly, propelling themselves on air. Eli could basically keep up with him, though. “Your land skills are impressive.” The Verita commented from a bit higher up. “You may not be able to fly, but your land speed makes up for such a thing.” “Thank you.” Eli replied kindly, and kept his pace up. “Is it much further?” “No. We are now here.” The Verita said, stopping and pointing at a tree. “You must climb then, youngling.” “Thank you for your help.” Eli said with a smile as the Verita powered off. Eli wasn’t too bad at climbing; his claws provided him with a natural bonus, because they could be used in a similar fashion to ice-climbing picks, in that they could be used to stick into the object being climbed and provide some stability to climb. So, foot by foot, he climbed the thirty-meter tree. And after five minutes, he reached the top of the tree, at which he was grateful to stand on something solid. His muscles were only slightly tired, the black, scale-etched skin unstretched. Eli shook his arms and legs a little, then walked into the building that was the Chamber of Council. “Attend, Aze-Khan.” Eli greeted, with a bow. With the Aze-Khan, he knew to be very formal. “I am the Aze-Khan. You would be the one known as Eli Bladesong, correct?” the Verita asked. “I am, and I am humbled that you know of me before I visit your town.” Eli said with a bow. “News of your arrival was on the winds – Verita all over Nydrai are rallying to you. You are the bearer of Ke’Nara; how can you not be trusted? The Oracle is known to make wise decisions.” “Thank you, Aze-Khan.” Eli said, before continuing. “I’m here to take the test.” “You want the Aze Emerald.” The Verita simply put. “Quite so.” “Well then, we will arrange a test. We...have no idea what to give you.” The Khan admitted, before seeking counsel silently with the other members of the Council. “We have decided.” The Khan announced after a minute. “I am to…?” “You are to leave the city via the north, and enter the cavern that is in front of you. Recover a box that has the symbol of Jupiter upon it.” “Artifact hunting. Second nature.” Eli told them confidently. “Then go.” Eli bowed, turned, and left the Chambers, readying himself for the task. This wouldn’t be easy. He cut himself open a quick portal to the Makai, retrieved some rope and a flashlight, then closed the portal. Eli walked slowly towards the Cavern, contemplating whatever he could to prepare him for this challenge. All the skills he had acquired during his lifetime could come in handy here; directional skills, logic skills, combat skills, perception skills, anything and everything was possible. He constantly thought up possible scenarios that he could face, to ensure that he had some form of mental and physical readiness. He’d thought about everything possible in his mind that he could face, and after half an hour of non-stop walking, he had arrived at the Cavern. Thanks to the daily two-hour endurance training he did, he could bear so much physical exertion and come out of it all fine. “Come on, Eli. Let’s go.” He murmured to himself, and drew out the flashlight in his left hand. He walked in slowly, cautiously, not trusting anything around. To his surprise, the cavern was already lit. This definitely was a testing cavern. They must have been conferring to see whether he was ready for this. He placed the flashlight away and drew out Maga-No-Ikutachi, not ready to ignite the sword yet. And from what he could tell, this’d be very linear, as it were, like an ancient burial ground. Eli began moving down the sandstone steps. As he did so, he felt one step, the second from last move down under his foot. In movies and such, that was the ritual sign for a trap. So, evidently, something was about to happen. And there was a new sound in the background – the patterned humming of some sort of energy beam. He could see the red glow of it coming from the next room. So, the first challenge was to disarm a trap. As soon as Eli reached the room, he began sizing up what he had to do. In the room, there were four small objects, each with four emitters on them. They were arranged so that when they fired, they would not hit any other. They fired in an order, and Eli needed to deduce what that order was. There were also two things on either side of the room – identical buttons. Eli had to get to both sides of the room and hit the buttons to get through, for the door ahead was sealed. Eli studied the emitter towers carefully, to deduce a pattern. One fired every half a second; Eli needed to determine what the order was. It seemed to be the left hand two, then the right hand two, the back then the front. Therefore, Eli went with that, running quickly through the beams after the next break interval. Hitting the first two buttons, Eli noted the closer of the pairs stopped. Eli then walked back, waited for the cycle to continue again and walked straight through. With the pressing of the fourth button, the door slid open, and Eli walked straight through. Carefully, the hanyou walked down the stairs towards the next room. The entire place must have been made out of sandstone, and as he moved down, he could hear the sound of rushing water. Something was going to happen, but it had something to do with an underground stream. But there was another sound, disturbing the water… Eli moved slowly. This must have been the test of combat. Instantly, Eli drew his sword, and walked quickly towards the next room, igniting the Maga-No-Ikutachi. He came to the doorway, and saw three shadows in the water. They were minor creatures. But they all bore the mark of Jupiter on their heads, glowing purple. As one, the three creatures unleashed a wave of Spark Plasma – a Jupiter Psynergy that relied on electricity, multiplied due to the water in the room – arced all over the sandstone. Eli hastened to form a Youki and Reiki dome around himself to absorb the blow, but even he struggled against the might of Spark Plasma. Eli then fired forth a quick Nu’Il STORM, killing two of the three creatures. Eli then hastened to engage the last one in combat, slicing it through with his sword before it could cast another spell. Two down, one to go. Eli saw the door slide open, and could then hear the sounds of fans. Fans…? Eli was perplexed. He had no idea…but then, he would soon see. He raced down the stairs, convinced this was the last room – and he was right. There was the box, on a pedestal in the centre of the room. However, there were multitudes of fans mounted in the wall to detract Eli from getting to his target, so he would be blown this way and that. The only way to get to the box was to destroy all the fans. And he did so well. He noted, though, they were all impervious to magical attacks by the energy barrier around them. So, the only way to do it was tog et close and slice them to bits. Eli needed every bit of strength he had to get to the fans. Therefore, he’d do it one by one until he had the necessary amount of fans destroyed to get to the box. Struggling against the winds, he pushed towards a fan on the right that would push him to the left. He pushed with every ounce of strength he bore to fight it and the fan pushing towards the back wall…and ran at full strength. If he could manage 125x gravity without too much pain, surely this was nothing? Eli pushed and pushed until he got to the fan, and rammed his sword through the center, the fan cutting out. The next was the one beside it. Eli sliced through that one, only struggling against one fan this time. Then noted the box was directly to his left – all he needed to do was reach out and grab it – and he did. As soon as he did, he sprinted out of the Cavern, and back to the city, climbing the same tree again. “Aze-Khan, here is the box.” Eli said with a bow. “Open it. Inside is your gemstone.” Eli did so, and took the engraved emerald and placed it in the second middle slot. The Aze-Khan enchanted the gem again for it to stick in, and the Aze-Khan bowed. “Go take care of Koku and Kari, in that order. Now, go.” Eli bowed, and opened up another portal. The final two challenges were ahead… |

Eli now faced the choice. He had teleported to directly between the cities of Karira and Kokura, the cities of the Light and Dark Tribes respectively. Would it not have been easier to get the Koku Tribe’s challenges out of the way first, then heading to Karira? The Koku Tribe were notably much easier to do, due to Eli’s martial nature. And thus, it was decided – the Koku Tribe would be the first target. Eli wandered up towards the city of Kokura, where the Dark Tribe lived, and ultimately, where there was a higher chance of death. Everyone in Kokura was aggressive and unfriendly towards outsiders, and carried a weapon. That made it hard. Eli had to get to the Chambers of Council unseen, really. But the easy part was, he knew exactly where the Chambers were, and simply cut another portal to the inside of the Chambers. As soon as he exited the portal, he kneeled to the Koku-Khan. “Mighty Koku-Khan,” Eli began, unsheathing Ke’Nara, “I am here to earn the Koku Black Pearl.” “You want the Black Pearl of our tribe? Fine. You’ll have to earn it through a series of martial combats. Three opponents, each harder than the last. Each has a specific challenge for you. Kill them all and you get the black pearl. Simple.” “Yes, it is. Now show me my enemy, O Koku-Khan.” “Head through the door at the side and enter the arena.” Eli did as he was told, and stepped into the arena. It was dark, and circular. Nobody but a shadow was there – Eli’s first opponent. “I am Serais, your first opponent. Select your weapon, Eli Bladesong.” “I select my sword.” “A duel of swords it is.” Serais said, then charged with his own longsword. Immediately, Eli ignited Maga-No-Ikutachi, and charged himself, initiating a spinning slash against the Verita warrior. The Verita countered with a deft flick of the wrist and proceeded to make a thrust towards Eli. Immediately, Eli recognised this fighting style. He knew how to beat it, too. Eli moved to the left, and empowered the flame of the Maga-No-Ikutachi with Youki, as it was meant to be. When Serais stepped left, Eli immediately feinted right, but brought the sword into his left hand about half a second later, to engage Serais on his own terms. As much as he hoped, it didn’t work. Damnit. I was right. No more mister nice hanyou. The challenge was on, now. Eli brought his katana back into his right hand, and lunged forward, slashing as he did so. Serais was ready for this…and brought his own sword down on Eli’s. It smashed. The Maga-No-Ikutachi was no more. “Fuck.” “To hand-to-hand combat, then.” “No, you don’t get it. You just killed my Grandfather.” “…Ah.” “And now, Serais, you die a horrible and painful death.” Eli threw ten beams of Youki and Reiki at him, so tiny and piercing that Serais didn’t know they were coming. They all struck through his head, smashing his brain to pieces. “Next challenge.” Eli called, picking up the remnants of the Maga-No-Ikutachi. He placed them off to the side, where they would not be a distraction. A shame; the fire gem had shattered. Out came another Verita, and the lights in the Arena flicked on – as did a massive course of walls and sandbags. “Ten-hut! I am Karris. Your challenge is to kill me with an assault rifle from Earth, known as the M-16. I can read your mind and know what gun you wish to use. Therefore, we must duel with those weapons.” Called the militaristic voice. “Challenge accepted.” Eli said, and the M-16 he was so familiar with materialised in front of him. ‘Now, let me get this straight. I have to hunt you around these walls?” “Correct.” “Then let’s go.” Eli said, slamming his first clip of four into the slot. Eli ran around the first corner, moving fast so that Karris could not find him. He had to dodge, duck and weave around the five foot walls to evade Karris, remaining low to evade sight. He kept his Energy Sensing ability active, but not using it actively to go towards him; on the contrary, he was moving away from Karris. This was just a game of cat and mouse; Karris was the cat…for now, anyway. This wouldn’t end for some time, unless he did something, Eli reckoned. He had to find a fast way to kill this guy, else risk being killed himself. Eli could have just killed him. But he needed to make this a challenge. …Stuff it. Eli turned, and waited for Karris. Karris was coming, and Eli ducked around the corner so Karris wouldn’t know he was there. Karris got a little closer…and Eli jumped around the corner, spraying bullets at Karris. There was nowhere for him to go. Karris died , due to a bullet through the skull. The other 29 bullets were just overkill. Eli threw down the firearm and three extra clips, kicking the body a few times. “Bring on my next challenge.” “I’m already here. Find me and kill me.” The walls disappeared; and Eli already knew where the enemy was. The Energy Sensing power was handy. “You’re directly behind me.” “God damnit.” “I can sense energy. It’s nothing personal.” “Regardless. I am Kuris, and you have to defeat me without any physical violence. Powers only.” “Very well.” “And the game is over.” “What?” Before Eli could do anything else…he was locked in a stasis field. He could not move, but his mind was quite active. “God damnit. You can read my mind.” “Very perceptive, Eli. I realised you needed to move for most of your techniques, therefore I created a stasis field.” “You can create whatever you need to defeat me.” “Correct. You’re the smartest person I’ve ever faced. Now you can beat me…or can you? Can you keep your head in this situation?” “More than you think, Kuris.” Eli only needed to defeat him. And then the stasis field would be lifted. But what powers did he have that required no movement? And then it struck him…well…more like it struck Kuris. Immediately, he unleashed a Nu’Il STORM. This STORM was invisible to the naked eye, and faster than the speed of light. Each beam pierced through Kuris, and evaporated his body. He was dead; there was no more energy trace. “Eli, the stasis field is lifted. You may go get the Black Pearl.” Kuris’ disembodied voice called. Eli picked up the pieces of the sword, and marched back into the Chambers. “Well done. I never expected such skill. And as I promised, here is the Koku Black Pearl.” Eli held the sword out, and extended one arm, taking the Black Pearl gratefully. He placed it in, then watched as the Koku-Khan performed the usual magic to imbue the stone permanently into the sword. “Thank you, Koku-Khan.” “Evidently, you only need the Kari Pearl. Well, we’re going to make the task for you.” “You can’t do this.” “…We just did. Karisa is aware of our attack and your arrival, now. We prepared it while you were doing the task. If he lives, you get the Pearl. And you are to direct the forces of Karisa, as their General.” “…Fuck you, Koku-Khan. I’ll see your troops on the battlefield.” Eli marched out, sheathing Ke’Nara. It would be a difficult battle. Though, it would be a battle – the tactical kind. The one thing he rocked at. This would be the most difficult task of all. |

There was no time to waste. Eli already suspected the armies of the Koku tribe were massing to launch their offensive. They needed only travel a kilometre to reach Karisa; Eli had to make that journey a lot faster than they did. And he could. Using the enhanced speed borne of the hanyou’s innate racial abilities, Eli raced towards Karisa at full speed. He could run a hundred kilometres like this; but that wasn’t necessary. The minute he reached Karisa, he ran straight to the Chambers of Council. There was no time to waste in getting this ready. “Kari-Khan! I need to meet all the troops! Also, prepare your armouries for what I’m about to detail! And get yourself armoured! There is no time to waste!” Eli was escorted to the troops by one of the Councillors; and he began addressing them. “I’m Eli Bladesong. Just call me Eli. Anyway, divide into squads of ten. There are two hundred of you, I know – two-thirds of their force. Regardless. Split into two squads of ten, or platoons of twenty, with one leader. Five platoons make up a Company, and there are two Companies, or a battalion. You will all arm with the same things – a set of breastplate armour, a steel buckler, a sword, greaves, gauntlets, and then anything else you’d like. I’ll take the same equipment, plus a gun. Come back here when you’re all done. You have five minutes.” “Yes sir!” they cried as one, running off to the armoury in their platoons. Eli needed not to head to the armoury. He merely reached into the Makai, and retrieved his ceremonial gold breastplate armour, steel buckler, gauntlets and greaves. He looked like a golden warrior – but there was always more. He also retrieved a sword, and pulled out an M-16/M-203, with four full clips of Blade ammo and five frag grenades. Donning his gear, he looked like the part of a proud general. Also, there was another thing he needed to do – he pulled out eleven headsets, one for each platoon leader and himself. He donned it, and then when all the troops came back, wearing their silver gear, Eli asked the platoon leaders to come up and take their headset. “They’re set to receive every other headset, including mine. It’s so we can keep in contact. Now, here are your designations and assignments.” Eli was studying a map while they were going to the armoury. “Squads 1 and 2, you’re Platoon A. You’re going to link up with Squads 3 and 4, or Platoon B and guard the main entrance. Squads 5 and 6 are Platoon C, and will be holding on the main street – 4 will be in the Central Square and will hold off any attack. Platoon D, or Squads 7 and 8, will be holding along the main wall and provide long-range fire support – you’ll find weapons there for you, specifically bows and arrows. Platoon E is made up of Squads 9 and 10, and are going to be holding around the secondary streets. Platoon F is Squads 11 and 12, and will join Platoon G, Squads 13 and 14, in holding the secondary entrance. Platoons H and I, Squads 15 and 16, with Squads 17 and 18, will be guarding the third entrance. Platoon J, Squads 18 and 20, are to stay with me and guard Kari-Khan. Squads 1 through 10 are Company A, and Squads 11 through 20 are Company B.” A question was asked from the leader of Squad 11. “What do we do if someone needs backup?” “You will wait for my instruction, but I’ll normally release another squad to your location.” “Thanks, sir.” “Alert, General Bladesong! They’re at 500 meters and closing!” a call came from the spy net. “TRIPLE TIME IT!” Eli yelled, and all the troops ran to their posting. Platoon J joined him, and they ran to the Chambers of Council. “All troops are in position and are advancing.” Eli informed Kari-Khan. “Very good. What are we to do?” “We remain here. And I see you got your armour on; good man.” “I just hope you can do this.” “Take Ke’Nara, Kari-Khan. If you die, I lose the sword. It’s a safekeep and a way to ensure my success.” “Of course.” Eli handed over the sword. “General, this is Platoon A, we can see them.” “This is Bladesong. Platoon D, load. Fire when you know you can hit. All units, ready.” “Platoon D here; roger.” Eli turned to the Khan, and nodded his head. “We’re about to engage the enemy. But we don’t know what they’re armed with. We’ll find out.” Eli turned to the headset. “Tacnet, what do they have?” Eli asked. “All of them have the same as us, General.” “All units, Bladesong. Go for the stomach before they can. Fast reflexes. Also, Platoon A, Platoon D, ready Kari spellbombs.” As one, eighty blasts of white, explosive light impacted upon the Koku ranks – who immediately accelerated towards the city at an insane speed. “ This is A. They’re charging General!” “Company A, attack! Charge! Platoon D, hold and keep firing! Company B, reinforce the main roads!” And so the battle begun. Now, Eli would wait. He could hear the sounds of battle raging around him. He knew that they would come. He knew he’d have to fight. And he could hear the comm chatter between the company commanders. “This is A, we’re taking losses!” “D here, firing!” “E platoon here, we’re coming to assist, A.” “They’re breaking through!” “General, they’re reaching your location! Five squads!” Without the headset, Eli addressed Platoon J. “Engage! Leave no man standing!” Eli called, unslinging his assault rifle. He ensured the safety was off and that it was on burst fire mode. This would be so much fun. “FOR THE GODS!” he screamed, and charged out first, firing from the hip. This would be a battle long remembered in the annals of history as the battle that changed the history of Nydrai. Eli fired two shots, and nailed one Verita through the head, dropping him instantly. But the best thing was, the armour that the Koku tribe wore wouldn’t stand up against the fury of HVAP rounds. Another one, and then another one, and another one. Six rounds expended, four dead. This would be so simple, provided his troops could also help him nail fifty soldiers. And then, there was no way to fire – the Platoon had passed him and had entered melee. Eli put the safety on and unsheathed his sword, retreating back to the Chambers of Council. Eli needed to guard the Khan, and that is what he’d do. “Platoon, DUCK!” Eli called, taking the assault rifle again and unleashing a frag round after he saw that the majority of troops had ducked. Koku troops fell, the black bodies falling from the explosion of the frag round. But now, the assault rifle was useless. Eli cut a portal back to the Makai for the firearm and its equipment. Eli then held the sword steady, ready to take on any who came. But…there was none. The battle was just…raging. It was between the two Tribes, and Eli’s organization meant the Kari Tribe stood a chance. But it wasn’t over yet, of course. There would always be one enemy to kill for Eli. And he came – charging, in golden armour. “I am Vushil! The Khan’s Champion!” “I am Eli Bladesong! The Bringer of Destruction!” And Eli lived up to that name, no worries. Another blast came to engulf Vushil, and stripped his flesh off. “All units, get OUT OF THE MAIN ROAD!” Eli screamed across the tacnet, and fired the thickest beam of Reiki he could, engulfing everyone along the main road. Primarily Koku Tribe troops, but a few Kari Tribe troops. “General, the Koku army is in full retreat! There is no sign of them in the city!” “Excellent, then it’s over. All units, guard the entrances.” Eli then moved back into the Chambers. “It’s over, they’re gone.” “Very well. Here is Ke’Nara, already imbued with the Kari Pearl. I present you, Eli Bladesong, the Bearer of Ke’Nara, with the Holy Blade of Unity, Ke’Nara.” “And now, I shall take my leave, Kari-Khan. I thank you.” Eli said, bowing and taking Ke’Nara, sheathing it in what one bore the Maga-No-Ikutachi. “I will not fail Nydrai.” Eli’s parting words were, as he cut open a portal, back to the oracle. They had much to discuss. Eli arrived back in the home of the Oracle, two days after he left. It was time for those answers he asked for. “Oracle.” “Wielder of Ke’Nara, I greet you.” came the Oracle’s reply. “And it is thanks to you, Oracle, that this is possible.” Eli replied with a bow. “Now, explain that end of the world thing.” “It’s two parts. One…You know of the Elemental Lighthouses?” Eli nodded, then the Oracle continued. “Basically, you need the four Elemental Stars from Mount Aleph, then you have to light each beacon. Light them all and the Golden Sun will replace the current Sun.” “And this is important…why?” “Every time someone uses Psynergy, the world will die off?” “…Point taken. And what am I to do?” “You’re to lead our people to a totally new place, where Alchemy runs free and beings of other realms come and share the land. That’s all I know – and that’s the second part, by the way.” “Alright. Now, I figure that the sword can generate each of the elements around it?” “Precisely. Just say ‘Verita’ and then the element.” “And then my sword will be empowered.” “Correct.” “Now what?” “You’re free to leave. You have work to do. But, before you go…Give me the pendant.” Eli obediently handed over the pendant he wore. The Oracle imbued it with a bit more energy quickly. “There, your Psynergy is just that extra bit stronger. That will also impact on the sword. Train with it and it will become stronger.” “Of course. Now, I have work to do, Oracle. Farewell…and thank you for placing your trust in me.” “I will be in touch. Go.” And with that, Eli Bladesong left, the heavy weight of destiny upon him. But from it, he became stronger. And he was ready… |
