Faria walked out into the courtyard, not feeling much like leaving the campus. She didn't want to go hang out somewhere as loud as the cafeteria, but didn't want to go somewhere so quiet and boring as the library or the roof. Today she was dressed simply. A navy babydoll-Tshirt, and jean shorts with striped socks and arm-sleeves that reached to her knees and elbows. Around her neck she had a black ribbon tied around her neck and her hair fell loose about her shoulders. She'd wanted to get it cut again for a while, but had decided to let it grow out for a while instead. If she didn't like it she could always cut it back to a reasonable length again. She passed a group of students playing a card game and a boy under a shady tree with his guitar. Choosing a bench on the other side of the water fountain from the guy with the guitar, she pulled out her sketchbook from her small, black emo-bag and started looking for something to draw. She pulled a pen from the binding and scanned the courtyard. The boy with the guitar didn't look like such a bad idea to draw... but then again she didn't feel like drawing people at the moment. She looked around for birds and finding a small cluster of them nearby, she started to draw. They were perfect! Someone had dropped a bag of chips that had gotten crunched to bits underneath students' feet and were now perfect prey for the school's pigeons. Because they were busy eating, though, they wouldn't move a whole lot, the perfect model victims. After a while, she noticed that more and more often students started to come out as noon carried on, headed towards the lunch room. She wasn't hungry, so she stayed where she was, but she started to worry that they would scare the birds away. She tried to draw faster, but found that her drawing had looked better when she'd taken her time and she slowed down again. She muttered commands to the birds under her breath, hoping they wouldn't fly away. |

A little boy with a strange and old navy suit got out of the school by passing over the heads of dozens of students who were rushing in to go get some food inside. Shoobie had been waiting a little moment in front of the cafeteria before he was autorized to grab some food. Actually, he had been waiting for one whole hour to get what he loved the must in the world, in terms of food, macaronni and cheese, such a basic, but deilicious meal. As he jumped up over the many heads under him, since he had the intriguing ability to jump very high and far, he was trying no to drop his small container filled with mac and cheese. At least, it had a lid atop of that little plastic box he was carrying around. He was searching a place to eat his favorite meal when he spotted a nearby bench occupied by some lady dressed with some eye-attractive clothes. Yes, with he stripped socks and the black ribbon around her neck, she was quite getting the attention. So Shoobie jumped up to that bench, but before actually reaching it, he noticed that she was drawing. Following her sight, he spotted a group of pidgeon. Gently but surely, Shoobie finally arrived at the bench and looked at the girl. ''Hum... may I sit down, milady?'' he asked, removing his navy cap and bowing lightly, as a charming prince would do. |

Faria looked up quickly and let out a short gasp, startled by the newcomer. It seemed like he'd just come out of nowhere! The nearby birds, having been caught by surprise by her sudden movement, took off into the trees, leaving the crumbs behind and Faria's drawings unfinished. She let out a small whimper of disappointment and closed her sketchbook. She noticed his uniform and, along with the bow, was somewhat impressed by it, never having seen someone so regal looking. She motioned to the seat next to herself. "Sure, go ahead." She gave him a soft smile and noticed that he'd brought his lunch to eat outside. Macaronni and Cheese it looked like. She liked the school for all the different types of food it served. She was so used to the Japanese food that she'd grown up on, it was nice for a change. For a moment she felt a pang of hunger, but remembering that she'd have to be a little more careful with her money to order such things as macaronni and cheese and her appetite subsided again. She reminded herself that she would have to get a job sometime soon. She didn't like relying on the money her father sent every month. For one it wasn't a whole lot of money, and two, he would forget about her soon enough. In his eagerness to get rid of her she was surprised that he still sent her money to live off of... She brought her thoughts back to the boy next to her. She admired how he could wear something so white and eat something that could stain it so easily... One of her main reasons for staying away from large quantaties of the colour. "That's a very impressive outfit you have." She opened up her sketchbook and started lightly drawing a framing for a figure. She knew she probably wouldn't finish it and it would most likely get erased later. She was still listening and didn't put a whole lot of attention on her book, but she didn't want to seem too interested in him. She'd gotten many odd looks before for being so curious, she needed to cut down a little more on that, too. |

He heard the birds she was drawing, or that she seemed to be drawing, started flying to a nearby tree. He thought that it was him for an instant, but realised it was the person in front of him. He smiled a little and sat down next to Faria. ''Thank you, young lady.'' he said, laughing faintly and sitting down, his legs crossed on the bench, the typical indian sitting style. Shoobie starred at the girl for a few seconds and looked back at his meal. He removed the lid and took out a plastic fork out of his elegant clothes' pocket. He smelled the food a little and then noticed from the corner of his eye that the girl next to him was actually watching his food. ''Hmm? You want some?'' he asked, taking out another fork of his pocket. He had actually decided to bring some food, in case he would have to share, but in this case, he didn't HAVE TO, he wanted to. ''Oh thank you. It was my grandfather's navy officer uniform, he passed away a few years ago and my grandmother decided to give it to me, since I have great interests for uniforms and rather uncommon outfits.'' he said, piercing some macaronnies with the four teeth of his 'dangerous' plastic fork. He then, cautiously, placed the food in his mouth to munch it a few times and swallow it. ''Yummy...'' he mumbled to himself. ''You're an artist?'' he asked his potential new friend. For some unknown reasons, Shoobie was more calm when he was eating Macaronni, as if all his energy was being dragging away by some evil ghost, but it was just... typical mac and cheese. But still, he kept a good part of his normal personality, unpredictable and tricky. Also, he felt like being a gentlemen all of a sudden, not because the person he was speaking to was a girl, far than that, it's just that he thought that his outfit looked slightly like a prince's outfit or somebody important in the royalty. |

Faria declined the fork that he held out to her. She broadened her smile a bit and added politely. "Oh, no. I'm not really that hungry, but thank you very much." She muttered a sorry about his grandfather's death, but nodded when he said he'd been given it because of his intrest. And he didn't look too bad in it, she thought. She watched him eat his macaronni for a moment, and finding that it was to his liking, returned to her book. She was yet to find something in the caffeteria that wasn't to her liking, but she was sure something was there that wouldn't be good in some way... It was a school caffeteria after all, none of them could be perfect. ''You're an artist?'' Faria nodded, and started closing her sketchbook, realizing she'd brought attention to herself. Despite the clothes she liked to where, she didn't like being in the lime light much and tried to stay modest about her artwork. Though, she believed, there was nothing to her artwork to be modest about. "I suppose, though I know I'm really not that great... I prefer painting, mostly, though...." She trailed off. She hadn't been able to paint in a long time, seeing as she had nowhere to paint, and she left it at that. She didn't even know his name yet, and bothering him about her living arrangements would mean nothing to him, anyway. Thinking about how she didn't quite know him yet, she realized she hadn't introduced herself either! She stood up and gave him a small bow, as was being polite, and told him her name. "I'm sorry! My name is Faria." |

''Ah, okay then. There'll be more for me then.'' he said, with a short laugh which was quickly covered by the macaronni entering his mouth. Cheese and macaronni, macaronni and cheese, two things that were going so well together. In fact, it was the most delicious dish in the world, for Shoobie at least. Plus, it was homemade, not one of these crappy boxes of fake cheese and tasteless noodles. It was real cheese and real pasta, a real real gourmet stuff. Not really, but still, it was good. ''Hm... interesting. I wish I had that kind of talent. I don't have much talents actually.'' he said, shrugging a little and looking down at his food before turning back to the lady. ''I used to love painting when I was a youngster. Painting with my feet and hands mostly, but I wasn't that good of an artist. Everything I was painting were actually big color spots, pretty abstract, I may say.'' he said with a small giggle. ''Oh, you didn't have to be sorry. I should be sorry for not introducing myself first.'' he said, with a charming smile. ''My name's Shoobie Nanani, pleased to meet you, Milady Faria.'' he said, laughing at his own prince-ship-ery-ness. |

Faria smiled at his description of his childhood artistic tallents. She never rememebered fingerpainting as a child, but the way he described it sounded like it was a lot of fun. She smiled as well, trying not to laugh out loud, at his prince-like behaviour. At first she didn't think it was real, but now she thought it was real. She didn't know it was just an act and seriously thought him to be a prince from another country or something. His bright red hair didn't seem to be dyed so she didn't think him to be from Japan like she... Though she could've been wrong about that, she still thought him to be some sort of royalty. And he'd chosen to talk to her! She wasn't sure if this was a big honour or not, but couldn't help wondering about it. She kept her cool, though, not often being one to get too excited. "It's nice to meet you Shoobie, sir." Besides the word being part of her normal vocabulary towards guys, she meant it a little more than she usually did, hoping she was being respectful enough. She usually got complaints from guys saying that they felt too old when she called them that and she'd been trying to cut back on doing so, but the word still slipped out every now and then without warning. Watching him eat his macaronni and cheese, the ends of her mouth turned up and she covered a small laugh with her hand, turning her gaze away to look at the water fountain. "I take it you really like your Mac and Cheese, huh?" |

''Sir? You don't have to call me Sir Shoobie or Prince Shoobie of Timbervale.'' he said, smiling a little and wondering if Timbervale was actually a place on this little planet, it sounded like a nice place though. Timbervale, City of the singing trees or anything like that... ''Just Shoobie would do.'' he said, again with a charming smile. He was almost done with his meal, there were only a few chunks left in the bottom of his bown-like container. He finished it in no time and threw the remains of his lunch in a nearby garbage can, which was actually at some feet from the bench. He then turned back to the lady and shrugged a little. ''Yea, it's my favorite dish. My mother used to cook that a lot at home. It's quite a basic meal which doesn't take much time to prepare, but I dangerously love, mostly when it's real cheese and not cheese powder or cheese substitute.'' he said, grinning. ''What kind of food do you like?'' he asked curiously. Yea sure, now she knew what kind of food he loved, but what about her. Shoobie had heard his grandmother say a proverb quite often, which was: ''Tell me what you eat and I'll tell you who you are.'' and she was quite good at identifying what type of person she was serving food to. If someone loved fancy stuff, they were kind of picky and a little snob sometimes. |

"Alright, just Shoobie." She smiled, scratching the back of her head. She was slightly embarassed, as she was when people were bothered by her calling them that, but he was probably the nicest about it which made her feel a little better. "What kind of food I like...?" She shrugged, not really having thought about it before. Thinking for a while she looked back at him. "I'm not sure... French Fries, maybe?" Anything that she could prepare she didn't like so much anymore, the specialness taken away, like knowing the details of a magic trick. Since she'd lived in Japan her whole life, that pretty much ruled out all Japanese food. She was sick of it, or at least for a while she would be. Here at the school she could eat just about anything, and she didn't have to make it. That was nice. Out of all the food she could think of having before, she guessed French Fries were probably her favourite. She'd had them only a few times, but she liked them a lot. Why? She wasn't quite sure, but it sounded okay to label it as her favourite food. She also found them a bit of a mystery... If they were from America, why were the called French Fries? Her question remained unanswered, but she gave up trying to find out why. |

''Oh, hehe. That's a good choice. If mac and cheese didn't exist that would probably be my favorite food. With ketchup it's a real delight, but it's not that good for health. Any fried stuff is, actually.'' said Shoobie, somehow caring about his health and the health of the people around him. Happiness was going over health though. So if French Fries made you happy, then eat as much as you want, unless being unhealthy makes you sad. In that case, it was a real dilemna for Shoobie. The short guy shrugged a little and turned to the sky, then back to Faria. That day the sky was filled with big puffy clouds, they all looked like sheeps, unless you had some imagination. They were some weird shapes in the sky. Some of these white marshemallow-like objects looked like dragons, characters or anything like that. In some parts of the sky, the clouds weren't all puffy like sheeps, but more like hair. They looked like some sort of spirit or some sort of banshee or ghosts. ''Do you believe in spirits?'' asked Shoobie, quite randomly. |

"Oh?" Faria wasn't aware the French Fries were so unhealthy. They were potatoes, weren't they? She'd always thought them to be like tempura, and tempura wasn't that unhealthy... could it be? She shrugged, starting to make herself quite confused. "Well, I don't get to eat them that often, so I don't think it's gonna kill me or anything." She smiled. When he turned to look at the sky, she looked at the cover of her sketchbook, a detailed, gothic looking design decorated the cover. The main picture was of a heart wreathed by short spikes, while the design bordered it and stretched to the edges of her sketchbook's cover. Looking back at Shoobie she noticed him looking at the sky. She looked up as well, but found little intrest in the sky that day. She returned to looking at the fountain once again. "Do you believe in spirits?" Faria shrugged, lifting her gaze up to the clouds which seemed to have given him the question, but she couldn't figure out how. "I don't know..." Her reply was short, but she really wasn't sure. Ghosts maybe, but she couldn't confirm them to be real in anyway, though sometimes she thought she believed in... "Demons... I think demons could be real." She pulled her eyes down from the clouds and looked to where he was, her expression thoughtful. No, she couldn't confirm them to be entirely real either, but they were kind of like scapegoats to her, reasons for nightmares being the way they were... She wasn't sure she wanted to really be talking about that, but she didn't tell Shoobie. |

A faint wind started to blow, then it started blowing a little stronger and a little more stronger after every seconds. It wasn't such a strong wind, just enough to make the clouds slowly move along the blueness of the sky. The skies were quite marvelous today, for Shoobie at least, and most were drawing forms and shapes of any type. The little friendly boy had always wondered why were clouds getting such shapes and forms. Did clouds have spirits? Maybe. ''Demons? Probably. I'm sure they're just wandering around town at night, but we don't see them, I guess we just feel them in some way. I'm sure each demons represent a bad feeling or a bad quality. Such as Greed or Lust or Sadness. I suppose demons are some kind of spirits, we can't see them but they're there in some way.'' he said, smiling at the sky to then turn down to Faria. ''I guess when you feel bad, it's because of them.'' he said, shrugging a little more. |

A half smile came to her lips, amused, and then at the same time almost surprised. "Exactly." She shivered in the small breeze. Though it wasn't very strong, she was very vulnerable to cold. She didn't like the cold much either, but could withstand it if she needed to, like now. Demons and spirtits and ghosts and gods and... and... The subject was an eerie one, or so it felt to her. She hadn't closed herself off to the idea of a god, but wasn't sure if it could be true. Other life that wasn't quite of the same... composition. She sighed and looked up at the sky again. She pulled up one of her feet on the bench and rested her chin on her knee. Her mouth turned up in a smile and she pointed at one of the clouds. "That one looks like a sheep!" Yes, usually the finding of one who had no imagination, it really did look like a sheep. She giggled a little and looked at Shoobie. |

Shoobie was having fun right now. Not the type of fun which would make you shout and laugh like hell, but just simple fun that would make you happy, putting on a big smile on your face. With his smile, the bright haired kid turned his head to the sky to see the cloud the young lady next to him was pointing. Sure, most clouds looked like sheeps, but this one REALLY looked like a sheep, with the head the legs and the big puffy cloud-like wool. Though, next to it was a farm and some other farm animals. Just as if the spirits of the Mister McDonald's farm had transformed into clouds and climbed up to the great ocean called sky. ''Hehe, you're right, it really looks like a sheep.'' he said, turning to look at Faria, his sight crossing her and a slight burst of nervousness reaching him. His heart started to beat a little faster, but he actually calmed down as he turned to the ground. A faint tint or red could be seen on that kid's cheeks. ''Hehe...'' was all he could say at the moment. A few seconds later he glanced back at the sky, smiling. What just happened? |

Harker wandered across the courtyard, thinking about possibley heading over to the cafeteria and getting something to eat. He wasn't especially hungry at the moment, but he knew he would be fairly shortly. And honestly, he was pretty bored. Harker was usually fairly good at entertaining himself, but today nothing seemed to hold his attention. Maybe he would feel more engaged after some food, he didn't know. Maybe I should just- hm? His eyes moved back to a spot they had passed over a second before, like a visual radar. He now saw and actually took in Faria and Shoobie sitting at one of the benches scattered around the courtyard. Do they know each other? He trotted over, approaching somewhat from behind. "Hi Shoobie, Faria," he said as he got close, absent-mindedly pushing his sunglasses up his nose. "You two know each other, I take it?" |

Where was he? This was not the snow-covered mountain of his birthplace, or the small comfy cottage he lovingly called home. No.. This…this was something new, something bizarre. It was a spiraling maze of walls, a labyrinth of stone paths, lush ferns, and flowing fountains, and Yuubae was trapped within its twist and turns. From tree to concealing tree he ducked as he made his way through the courtyard, darting his head here and there to avoid detection, too overwhelmed with fear to notice the obvious signs indicating the dorms. What he wouldn’t do to leap on that massive, magical machine humans called a “train” and return home. But no, he couldn’t go back. Master said so. Yuubae was a hodgepodge of clothes disarrayed. He was swathed in a neon pink hoodie, huge and bungling, shredded jeans, and flopping sandals much too big for his girlish feet. At first glance, it was easy to confuse him as a homeless bum who had wondered aimlessly into the square. And indeed, his clothes were from a homeless bum he robbed at the train station. Master shipped him away in nothing but holey hand-me-downs, and he wanted to look somewhat presentable. Besides, the hobo was a meta-human. Meta-humans did not matter. The kitsune’s stomach cried out in protest. God, for food! Anything for food! But he would not stoop so low as to ask these metas, these creatures, for substance. So there Yuubae stood, weaving in and out of the winding paths like a lost drunkard in search of anything edible. |
