Darmyne walked slowly. For someone wanted you'd have thought she would've been well known, but the authorities kept her picture from the public. Kept it, and let only those interested in the hunt know of what she looked like-it would never do to generate panic. Not many though were willing to face down a meta, much less one capable of levelling a museum, and tearing people from limb to limb. Amusing, she though to herself. She was pretty, and it was something she never hesitated to flaunt, and certainly heads did turn wherever she walked. If only they knew though of what danger she really was. She smiled to herself. Maybe in a few days they'd know. Maybe. "Just a few more days," she whispered licking her lips in anticipation. "When they return. Everything will be ready." She grinned to herself though it didn't quite reach her eyes-the Templar's god will be of no help to them once she came. No help whatsoever. |

High atop one of the city's skyscrapers, a lone figure sat motionless with legs crossed, letting the brisk wind up there lash at her face, and tear at the piece of paper she held in an iron grip in right her hand, studying it yet again, committing each word to memory. She had a photographic memory, and would be able to remember every detail with searing clarity, if only given a few minuts to concentrate on the content. Finally done, she leaned her head backward and lifted her left hand out, grasping ahold of a corner in the A4 sheet, tearing it measuredly downward and ripping the paper apart as she did so. One long rip, then came the next one. Then the third, and the fourth, on and on across all sides, until the confidential letter was ripped into confetti, the strong winds carrying the small pieces all about the city, scattering it to all four world corners. Not a letter from her superiors, but from another agent here in the city - claiming that the subject, or someone matching her description precisely, had been seen here in the city, by several civilians and once by a foreign operative who swore that she had been seen in Milano only weeks earlier. Lucita did not give either much credibility. It was all with a huge 'maybe' hanging atop of it; it -could- have been Darmyne Alliandre. For all Lucita knew, it could've been her identical twin - or just a poor ignorant girl that looked slightly like her. What she needed was several witnesses place that all had seen her at the -same-, or just a few clear photos that could confirm without a doubt. Until then, it was a blind-folded hunt. Uncrossing her legs, Lucita Torres Aquilar slowly stood up until she stood rank and tall atop the skyscraper, staring out over the city silently for a few more moments, with her small nose in the air - before turning around, and starting towards the staircase. The rest had been beneficial - her mind felt much clearer and alert, and she could think logically again. Darmyne was still in the city. The agent was certain of it, and it was almost with relief that she let her hand travel down to her side, to rest almost caressingly on the bump on her hip which was her 9mm P2000 handgun. It was a comforting presence, and the mission itself had a comforting familiarity to it. Track down, neutralize or destroy. Lucita was, if nothing else, very flexible, but her time at AHS had been a constant challenge, a constant deception. It was like having an entire other personality forced into her, because every little slip from her side could break down the wall that shielded her true purposes from prying minds and eyes. Her weapons and a defined target; that was simple and needed no questions asked. I wonder, though, she thought idly, as she strode down the stairs. What could be so dangerous about the girl, to warrent my presence? Would they send her back to AHS after this? Her absence had been covered up under a legit cause, of course, but if she met anyone she knew from school? She could be compromised beyond repair by leaving the school in favor of another mission ... ... "Again? It's not that long since you ordered me back ..." Lucita went quiet as the man on the other side of the line retorted sharply, and proceeded to explaining the urgent need for this 'terrorist' to be aprehended, and giving out the technical details. The dark-eyed special agent listening silently and expressionlessly to the speech, before responding in a soft, monotone voice. "Creatures? What kind of creatures, like mutated wolves or bears?" Silence again, while Lucita nodded without saying a word. The man on the other side was agitated, and she could understand why to some extend. "Like demons. I get it. You have not told me where I can find her." Finally an expression appeared in the asian-looking girl's face; disbelief and slight irritation. "You don't know? Your branch is a that of foreign intelligence, it sounds like this girl is leaving behind some tracks, and you don't know where? ... Who was killed? When? Alright .. fine. I can deal with your demonic problem-child, but you need to send in backup to clean up her little 'friends'."[/I] He had sounded awfully vague about the backup, now that Lucita thought more clearly about her, but surely he could not have been so stupid as to think that Lucita was completely invincible ...? No. Not that stupid. Maybe other agents were already sent out, then? Yes .. that was probably it. And if one of them died, they could not reveal the presence or identities of any others. Which again meant that she was all on her own. They all were. Damnit, but she could really have need of some more information right about now. |

Darmyne still continued with her walk. She had no purpose to it really. She just thought it would be nice to get some fresh air. Well, as fresh an air as a city could afford at least. She shook her head ruefully at the thought. A ball rolled onto her feet, and in its wake a young child. She knelt picking up the object, and smiled extending it over towards the boy. "Yours?" she asked genially. The boy nodded beaming back, and taking it. "Thank you," he said before running back to play whatever game he was about. Darmnye only smiled as he watched. Children were so trusting. It was such a wonderful quality of theirs. The her nose picked up a stench. A vivid smell of something rotten, and sulphurous. She grimaced-it had to be another fool who thought that they could meddle with things beyond their understanding. Her became livid. Demons were her by right, and this one was to be no different. With a purposeful stride she turned right at the nearest corner, and stalked off. She was not please as she entered an apartment. It was close. She wondered who it was this time that was summoned. She already had Belial under her grasp. Was it Beelzebub? Or Belphegor? No matter. There were very few free demon royalty, and she held most of them in her control. the others were trapped in an urn left behind by her mentor. That this one must've been summoned attested to its rank. Perhaps there would be one less free demon when she was done. Perhaps... |

Arriving back in the small one-roomed apartment that she had rented during her stay, Lucita went straight into the bathroom and turned around to glance briefly the mirror. Her eyes were surrounded by dark rings from lack of sleep, but she barely felt fatigued; combined with her naturally pale skin, Lucita looked like a ghost - or someone very sick. No wonder the guy by the phone booth had sent me such an odd look ... She lowered her gaze down to the wash, reached out to press the plug in, then turned on the cold water - reached out to fill both hands with the gushing liquid, that were quickly turning icy, and splashed it up into her face. The shock of the cold caused her to gasp, immediately fully awake again from one moment to the next. She closed her eyes to savor it for a moment, then turned about and left the bathroom - reaching a hand out to switch off the light, and wandered into the room she was living in; the dark brown suitcase still stood where she had put it, and she picked it up, unlocked it and reached down for it's content - a little old-looking radio. She quickly hooked it up to the electricity, and the sound of buzzing static filled the room. She grimaced, turned down on the volume, and started searching for just the right channel that this radio was designed to carry. " ... reported gunfire on ... this is car 13, I have a ..." Lucita tuned fully in on the police radio, listened to the content for a moment, then nodded to herself in satisfaction and turned about, wandering over towards the closet. It was a waiting game, now; but the moment Darmyne left her another trace, Lucita would be ready for it. She reached out for the uniform hanging in the closet, packed in plastic to protect it from dust and smudge, and hesitated ... no, it was too risky. If she -was- apprehended by the local law enforcement, then a few quick calls could set her back free, but her wandering about in a police uniform was bound to rouse attention; attention she did not want. She closed the closet again, and stared out of the window into the star-filled night, listening. And waiting. |

43. But I Solomon glorified the Lord, and bade another demon come before me. And there was brought to me a demon having all the limbs of a man, but without a head. And I, seeing him, said to him: "Tell me, who art thou?'' And he answered: "I am a demon." So I said to him: "Which?" And he answered me: "I am called Envy. For I delight to devour heads, being desirous to secure for myself a head; but I do not eat enough, but am anxious to have such a head as thou hast." -The Testament of Solomon Lucita didn't have to wait for long truth be told... Darmyne slipped a ring into her finger, as she ran quickly taking the steps by twos. It was an apartment, she noted, as she followed the stench trying to find its source. Suddenly she stopped. There! With a loud crash the fell hound Staff broke the door, and Darmyne entered. She looked at the scene and spat angrily. There was a corpse, half consumed, on the floor inches away from the seal of Solomon. The fool must have tried to run in surprise, she thought-the circle would've protected him as well as bound the demon for as long as it was summoned. Leaving it was certain death without an agreement. "All it took was a few seconds..." She murmured. Done was done and she turned to watch the struggle. The room was small-clearly it wasn't bought by the most affluent of people-and there was barely room for a fight, but Darmyne watched as the headless apparition grappled with Staff. It was ironic. The Testament of Solomon mentioned that Staff was commanded by the king to subdue Envy when he bound them to slave at the temple in Jerusalem. Now they were locked in combat again demon against demon. She stroked her ring. this demon was to be hers soon. She just hoped the fight would be over before anyone responded to the commotion she surely caused. Spilling anymore blood wasn't anything Darmyne was eager to see. The cops the last time were just an unfortunate lot though it would be a lot more different if she found herself face to face against a meta. |

" ... fighting on George's Bouleward 42; it might just be house disorder, but the neighbour claims to have seen a monster through the window - might be some big animal, or a mutant. Car 20, you are closest to the scene ... 20 here; we're taking a look at it ... Lucita's head whipped back to stare at the radio for a moment, then her eyes narrowed slightly in thoughtfulness. Monster? One of Darmyne's 'creatures', most likely; she would have to find a way to get rid of those cops that responded to the call. Remembering the city map she had studied only a few hours ago, she quickly made an assertment of how far from George's Bouleward she was, snapped the radio from the table and disconnected it, then rushed out of the door and down to the car - unlocking, throwing the radio in on the passenger seat, then starting up the engine. Keeping her eyes on the road, she reached down for her cell phone, dialed a quick number, and held it up against her ear and mouth, speaking rapidly as the other side picked up. "Chang, Torres here; call the authorities in the city for me, tell them to lay off on the George's Bouleward ... I'll let you know if it's false alarm. And if it's the real thing, too. If it is, then I want that damned backup. I can't neutralize both Darmyne AND her pets at once. Get a force ready." Hanging up, she stepped down on the speeder and swung around a corner, keeping her eyes fixed on the road. Seeing the street sign come into sight by the lights of the car, she started slowing down and scouted for signs of where the disturbances were taking place. There was light in the windows of several apartments, but ... There, 42. An apartment complex, it would seem; light in three of the windows. She parked the car and stepped out, staring towards the buildings and listening to muffled noise coming from inside one of the apartments. Then a loud crash that could clearly be heard all the way outside; was Darmyne thrashing someone? Her hand reached down for her gun by itself, and she started quickly and silently up towards the apartment door, keeping herself out of sight from the windows. She brought out her cell phone again, re-dialed the number and watched the door entrance expressionlessly as she brought the phone up to her ear, whispering to whomever was on the other end. She expected it to be Chang. "Pretty sure it's Darmyne; you may want to call an ambulance, the fighting dosn't sound pretty from here. How soon can the backup be here?" She paused, blinking in disbelief and outrage for a moment, that made the hand that held the whole tremble. Being very careful to control her voice, she responded harshly. "Not enough men? Low priority? Hey ... eres un pura mierda, you cara de picha! Do you think I'm playing some kind of harmless game??" She hanged up, furious, and a moment away from hurling the phone down into the street - then catched control of herself, and breathed in deeply. So, she would be on her own. Maybe she could kill whatever monster Darmyne brought first; she did not know if the girl had any offensive powers other than being able to summon up demons. She loaded the gun, stepped up next to the dor - and reached out, pushing the handle gently down. It wasn't locked. She threw her whole weight in against it, letting it slam open as she positioned herself in the doorway, her weapon sweeping over the room along with her gaze. An occult symbol; the seal of solomon. A half-devoured body ... looks like there won't be need of that ambulance after all ... Stunningly fast, she had the weapon pointed right at Darmyne's head as she catched sight of the girl, and stepped further inside the room ... then she caught sight of the two demons. She had only expected one. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at the two battling creatures, for but a moment not fully concentrated on Darmyne. "Oh ..." This is just bloody great. |

Darmyne watched impassively as Staff finally pinned the demon down. She walked to Envy, ring in hand, as she knelt before the headless apparition. She sighed as she cursed mentally. It had taken too long. The girl behind her with the gun was sure;y there for her; she just hoped she wouldn't have any problems...persuading this one. "You know this ring, right?" She asked simply at Envy. The demon was headless, but Darmyne knew he was aware of his surroundings. "You'll serve me now," was all she said as she imprinted the demon with a seal of solomon. She tucked away the ring-it had done its job. Now it she had to deal with the other nuisance. "I suppose you came all the way here just to arrest me?" She asked. She tilted her head. "Though there's only one of you. I wouldn't think it wise if you tried arresting me. After all I have no intentions of going with anyone right now. I have other things more important to deal with than answering for a few corpses." Again she sighed, wearily this time looking to the dead man on the floor. "Never a pretty thing, demonic attacks." She could've been talking about the weather for all it was worth. "That fool should've never attempted summoning one." She shrugged. "So what do you say about just letting me go for now? This dead body's one too many for one day already in my opinion, and there's always next time. I do hope you'd choose right, and say yes." |

Lucita recomposed herself and directed the weapon straight for Darmyne again, while she in the corner of her eye watched the demons. One of them had no head; it was quickly being subdued by another that mostly resembled a dog. Lucita let them fight, nearly hoping that they would end up killing each other, but then Darmyne seemed to take a direct interest in it. She walked straight up to the demon, speaking to it; Lucita catched mention of a ring, and something about the headless demon now serving her. Then she turned to address Lucita herself. "I suppose you came all the way here just to arrest me? Though there's only one of you. I wouldn't think it wise if you tried arresting me. After all I have no intentions of going with anyone right now. I have other things more important to deal with than answering for a few corpses." "Never a pretty thing, demonic attacks. That fool should've never attempted summoning one. So what do you say about just letting me go for now? This dead body's one too many for one day already in my opinion, and there's always next time. I do hope you'd choose right, and say yes." Lucita's eyes narrowed, and without warning she fired a shot; the bullet passed so close to the dog demon that it would have been able to feel the heat of it, if it had paid attention. The shot was quickly fired, and she turned the weapon back towards Darmyne. "Don't talk to it. Don't approach it. If you do, I swear to God, I'll shoot you first and then them. I'm not a normal cop, love; you made enough of a scene around here to warrent that. That means, I have full permission to use whatever method I deem necessary, with whatever amount of force to get the job done. I don't even have to make a warning before firing. You should consider yourself lucky I didn't shoot immediately upon entry. Also, I don't need help." That was a blatant lie, now that she had realized just how outnumbered she was, but she would be damned if she let it show. Starting a fight, however, would be a fight she would loose. She had to try another way. "Now, while your friends are quite unpleasant, I'm sure, you are the one able to summon and control them. That makes you the most dangerous subject. If I am crazy enough to go after you alone, don't you think that I would be crazy enough to shoot you, too? Even with your friends ready to tear out my throat." She smiled joylessly and tilted her head slightly to the side, trying to appear understanding. She had only little success with it. "Call them back into the ring, or whatever you used to call them up. I'll drive you down to the station, and we can have a more in-depth chat there. If you did not kill these people, then you can aid the authorities with what knowledge you have, and have your name cleaned. Or don't, and I'll have to shoot you, and then likely get killed myself. More bodies won't solve anything, will it?" |

Darmyne sighed. "See, I don't really have any intent of going anywhere I don't want to. With you included. I have other important things to do..." She watched idly as Staff bared its teeth, and slowly started to walk towards Darmyne in a saunter. Envy on the other hand just stood silently. He had almost a sullen quality to him. Resignation. It had not been the first time for him after all. "And my...servants..." She smiled at this. "Have a tendency to be defiant. You may be crazy enough to shoot me perhaps, but I don't think you'll succeed in killing me." Slowly she crossed her arms, and placed her fingers on her lower lips tapping it. "Hmm..." She seemed in thought. "I do hope you're bullets are blessed or something." She said absently. "Though I think only Templars do that. Are you sure you won't reconsider my offer? I don't want anymore deaths, but what I want and what's necessary are two different things after all." She grimaced at this. Those security guards at the first place were persistent. True she would have probably spared their lives, but they had tried to bind her. She shuddered imaging the closing walls. She never liked captivity. She feared it in truth. And murder was just the least of what she was capable of if being bound was her other option. Afterwards were the cops who responded right after she levelled the museum. Unfortunate those, they just had to find her like that. Though they didn't suffer for long at least. Then there was the meta. That one was interesting. He took that injury rather well considering. If it had been Staff though, but no that boy would still play a part in this-it had been told to her after all. She had a mistrust for metas. Experience was a rather hard to thing to ignore. She tilted her head in wait. Whether it'd end in bloodshed again or not the price was just to high to quit now. She had worked to hard, and aimed to high to do anything otherwise. |

Lucita's expression did not change, and her hold on the gun never wavered for a second. Inside, though, she was processing and considering the truth of what she had just been told. She could believe that only holy weapons could harm demons, as they were otherworldly in nature, but did this girl actually suggest that she, too, was immune to ordinary injury? "You overestimate my list of choices, Darmyne; my .. superiors know that I have you, and they will know if I let you walk away freely. My career would not be worth much once that came out - or my life, for that matter. So, you claim invulnerability? You are a demoness yourself, perhaps? Maybe a goddess, now that we're at it. Why don't we start with you telling me -why- I ought to let you go - aside from the perceived possibility that failing to comply with that, will get me killed. By all I've heard, you are a menace to public safety. Oh, and just to check ... " She turned the weapon towards Staff, firing the weapon in the same motion - aming for his neck. The bullet connected, but whether it did any damage or not, Lucita did not wait to see. She fixed a stare back on Darmyne. "And kindly, send them away. I don't generally appreciate great slobbering beasts in my nearby vicinity." She glanced over towards the demon, expecting to see a hole in it's neck, and blood pouring out. |

"He who runs away will live to see another day," Darmyne said in a soft chant. "And what use will your superiors have for a corpse? either way it's a loss for them. Besides how many more people can they send, hmm? I mean as far as my eyes see there's only you." She smiled almost wickedly. She wasn't really invincible, and she didn't know how Lucita recieved that notion, but better if she kept thinking that way for as long as Darmyne could help it. It might prove useful. "Oh, and just so you're clear on where I stand. I'm ony a menace against anyone who gets in my way," she could give that much away at least. Maybe it would actually keep them from going after her. Then again maybe not judging from how this girl kept insisting. She grimaced as smoke issued from Lucita's gun. Impassively she watched as the bullet connected with Staff. "That was a mistake..." Darmyne whispered as she licked her lips. It wouldn't harm Staff-not his real self at least. Demonic manifestation in the physical world needed a body. One they themselves create. It could be destroyed if damaged enough, but the actual demon itself couldn't. It was actually an odd thing the whole destruction of a demon's physical presence through damage. It felt like a video game... Well it would've if the stakes weren't your life. Staff grinned as he stared Lucita straight in the eye. "Slobbering beasts?" It said. Its eyes were alight now. "I'm a demon girl not a beast, and I'll make you respect the difference between the two." It leapt immediately tossing itself against Lucita. Envy on the other hand-equally as fast-moved in front of Darmyne as if a shield. "Don't kill her," Darmyne said. This girl was trouble, and Darmyne didn't know why she gave that order, but it had been given already. This would become a complication. |

Lucita's mouth quirked slightly upward in what - generously - could be called a half smile, as she heard Darmyne speak of only proving a menace to those in her path - the very fact that the girl hadn't ordered her demons to attack yet, placed her in a favorable light. Maybe she really wouldn't kill unless forced. Then again, her hesitancy could also be because of the gun pointed at her head. "If I should fail, they will send more. Maybe none quite as adept, but they can get the job done in force of sheer numbers. Can you protect yourself from snipers placed around every second roof top? Also, kindly do not underestimate me; it's getting tiring. I have never failed a mission - ever. I don't plan on putting a mark on an otherwise impeccable record. However, I ..." Her attention was diverted by Staff's voice, and the young agent was stunned for a moment. The bloody thing could speak. It's -intelligent- ...? "You ..." Then it was leaping towards her, and Lucita reacted more by instinct than any conscious action. She flowed smoothly to the side; fixed the weapon on the demon and fired off five rounds at the creature; switched her gun to her second hand and reached for her knife. She never got ahold of it. A heavy weight stuck her in the chest, and she was pushed out of the doorway back out on the hallway; her balance was off and she tumbled to the floor with the crushing weight on top of her. She did not hear Darmyne call for it not to kill her; her mind was fixed on an image of huge jaws closing around her throat, and she reacted to prevent that from ever becoming reality. She reached further down; reached her knife and had it out a moment later; swiping with the razorsharp blade at Staff's own throat, while she tensed and drew back her legs - as well as she could with the demon on her - then attempted to push them hard upward, hoping to fling Staff off in the process. |

Thrice the bullets struck Staff as energy fizzled out fromwhere the connected. This didn't deter it though, as the two struggled. Darmyne sighed. The girl was good much as she loathed to admit it. She looked at Envy and nodded. The fighting ws fierce, but Darmnye had confidence in Staff. He wasn't like most other demons. Mindless things bent on destruction. No, Staff was something else entirely. "Then I ordered another demon to come before me, and there came into my presence a hound, having a very large shape, and it spoke with a loud voice, and said, "Hail, Lord, King Solomon!" And I Solomon was astounded. I said to it: Who art thou, O hound?" And it answered: "I do indeed seem to thee to be a hound, but before thou wast, O King Solomon, I was a man that wrought many unholy deeds on earth. I was surpassingly learned in letters, and was so mighty that I could hold the stars of heaven back. And many divine works did I prepare. For I do harm to men who follow after our star, and turn them to . . . . And I seize the frenzied men by the larynx, and so destroy them." And I Solomon said to him: "What is thy name?" And he answered: ''Staff"" -The Testament of Solomon The knife dug deeply at Staff stunning him momentarily. Just enough for Darmyne to gather the strength to throw it off. It flew landing with a heavy thud at the floor. The energy fizzled more from the fell beast, and it seemed to become almost opaque flickering from solid to ghostlike. "Good work," Darmyne said. To Lucita's side Staff struggled to stand. The flickering grew less, as the demon regained its composure, but didn't strike again. It knew it didn't need to anymore. "Though I think you should give up now..." The two had not wasted time. While Lucita struggled Darmyne made quickly to move know kneeling on Lucita's with her own knife stopping as close to her neck without drawinng blood as possible. Envy too was close by just standing but evoking menace. Darmyne smiled. "You'll listen to me now or Envy just might get the head he craves for..." |

Lucita tilted her head back slightly, with her gaze lowered down to the shaft of what she knew was a knife; fixed on her throat. It would take but a flicker of Darmyne's wrist to draw blood; only a little more than that to cut open the artery, provided the demon girl targeted it right. Lucita was far from immortal. She breathed swallowly, attempting to feign being afraid to even move, while she deftly moved her own knife-holding hand, out of Darmyne's vision. The girl needed to think she held the advantage. For the moment, she did. "You'll listen to me now or Envy just might get the head he craves for..." Lucita swallowed slowly and glanced over towards the second demon, grimacing slightly as she catched sight of him again. Boy, was he ugly. Maybe it was a blessing he had no head; Lucita had a feeling a head would be the ugliest thing on his entire body. "Well enough ... I'll listen, don't worry; I don't need to have a second mouth cut for myself. You may want to relax a little, as well. We're both in something of a dilemma." Lucita smiled almost ruefully and nodded down towards her chest - and Darmyne's abdomen, against which the tip of Lucita's knife was gently resting. If Darmyne put just enough pressure on to draw blood, the demon girl would get several inches of steel through her stomach. "We would be going to hell together if you tried. I'm not in any rush to die, though, and I don't suspect you are, either, so what about we put away the toys, and you tell me who you are - I know your name, but little about your past - and what you are doing here. Maybe I can help you instead of letting you run around on the loose alone and get more people killed." She released the handle of the knife, letting it fall clattering to the floor, then leaned back and watched Darmyne expectantly. It was a leap of faith, in it's purest sense; Darmyne could cut her throat without any trouble at the moment. Lucita had to count on that she had made a right judgement of the girl, or she was already dead. |

Darmyne's mouth tightened. Careless. Mentally she cursed, but then she watched in surprise as Lucita dropped the blade. Her first instinct was to tighten his hold on hers. Was it a trap? From surprise her face then showed uncertainty-even confusion. What little trust Darmyne had left wasn't enough to fill a thimble. She held on... "You want to know about my past?" She started albeit somewhat shakily. "The only thing you need to know is that it was horrible enough for me to lose trust in humanity," He looked at her empty hand. "You expect the worst of everyone. You'll never know what they'll attempt no matter their word..." She stared at Lucita hardly. What was she doing here? In a apartment with an officer of the law, a corpse, and demons for followers. Was this any life for someone not even an adult. Lucita was right in asking why she was here though Darmyne knew that wasn't what she meant. "As for why I'm here. I'm here because that corpse had the bright idea of summoning Envy over here. I merely took what was mine by right," She smiled now. It didn't quite look real. "And I suppose you're also interested in what I have planned? Tell me, are you religious? Either way I can tell you know that god does exist, but it'd be a lot more interesting if you were..." Then she stopped. Darmyne sheathed her knife, kicked Lucita's out of the way, and held out her hand. Envy, and Staff were still both alert. Just waiting for Lucita to make a false move. They'd rather of course that Darmyne was killed, but the symbol that marked them hers forced them to obey, and more importantly to protect. The second was the more important-even to the point that any other command could be overriden. "What I want and what's necessary are two different things," Darmyne said. "I don't think killing will be wholly avoided, and I'm not so innocent that I can just waltz into your station, and clear my name." Her smile looked thin now. Only barely worth calling one. Fake was clearly an understatement. "But what I wish to accomplish is too important. I don't deny them as sins, but I'll keep sinning for now. I'll just pay the price when everything's done." There was something wrong with this scene Darmyne decided. Of course there was. Lucita was still alive. She shook her head. Well she had to do something. Stupid as it was she was the reason Lucita was still alive so it was her responsibility. "Now then...you tell me failure wouldn't be all too good for your well-being." She looked upward absentmindedly. "The way I see it-since I insist on not going anywhere I don't choose. The only thing you can do is come with me. Not, of course as guest, but rather more like a prisoner. Though I think I'll allow you freedom in movement. The thought of being bound and locked up is hardly pleasant, and I don't think you'll do anything with my servants keeping watch of me. If you escape then you may never find me again. Or you may, but I'll have gotten stronger by then. Of course you may be as dead as the guy on the floor to bother me if you came back empty handed. You may find a way to stop me or even find out my plan if you stay my prisoner. Maybe, maybe not, but as it is...do you have any other choice?" |

Lucita calmly registered Darmyne's reactions, and agreed silently with her previous assesment. The other girl was quite likely suffering from betrayed trust; a blow so hard that she did not dare trust anyone, ever again. That was eventually going to be the death of her; the man who refused to trust anyone, refused potential allies ... and would stand alone on the last day. Nobody survived entirely alone. Lucita herself preferred solitude, but acknowledged that she was dependent on others from time to time. She just preferred to minimize that dependment. "Uhuh. No, I'm not very religious ..." she took Darmyne's hand, allowing the girl to allow her up; she barely even glanced at the knife in the corner. She still held her gun with her other hand; Darmyne seemed to have forgotten about it. Or maybe she thought she had used all her bullets already. " ... but I do believe in a higher existence. You can call it God, if you want. I just question whether He, or It, or whatever - has the slightest care for whatever happens to this little planet and it's inhabitants. Well, love, killing will have to be avoided - if I have to commit suicide to assure it so; I am more than willing to help you, but we need to reach some sort of agreement on that area. I think you are a reasonable girl - remember what I told you about snipers. If you will trust only in yourself, then you are going to end up dead - and will have taken alot of innocent people into oblivion with you. We both do agree on that that is better avoided, yes? So. I can keep the police off your back, but, you're going to have to trust me, just a little. I realize trust is not gained easily. So, let me take the first step." She lifted the gun up, turned it about in her hand until the pisol mouth was pointed at herself, and offered the handle and trigger to Darmyne with the same cool, calm smile on her delicate features. Darmyne would just have to reach out, grab ahold of it, and pull that trigger ... and Lucita would have a neat little hole through her body. The agent was well aware of that; her smile, on second glance, had turned slightly stiff from the thought. "I really would prefer if you didn't pull that trigger, by the way. See, I am trusting you not to shoot me. You, will be trusting me not to backstab you later by not firing it off. Hopefully. And if I could ask for a favor, before you shoot me or take my gun away from me or whatever, pick up my knife .. please. I hate leaving my tools behind - much as you'd prefer not being without your demon-dog, either." She glanced briefly towards the creature, nodding shortly to it. "No offense intended." She looked back towards Darmyne and breathed out tensely. "So? Prisoner, if that makes you feel better; sure. You'll be having my weapons. I'll be having a little of your trust. I'll help you get out of this neighbourhood without getting five bullets into your forehead; you'll let me help you resort whatever situations you need done, with a minimum of casualties. If you think I am going to betray you, you shoot me - but I am not going to stab you in the back, love. If we're clear on that, could you specify a little on what you intend to accomplish?" |

Darmyne snarled as she grabbed the gun. "One would find that too many leaps of faith might leave you dead..." She said softly. "If you can keep people off my back so much the better, but there'll still be death no matter what. I'm certain the Knigt Templars won't leave me alone, and I certainly can't while they hold one of my objectives..." She turned and walked over to the knife collecting it gingerly. "And god does care..." She grimaces at this. "Cares enough to mess with lives to suit his collective lives. I wonder. Do you know about the Demiurge? It's a rather interesting hypothesis about our divine creator. It certainly explains the mess we're in." She looked back. "You wish to help?" She said calmly. "I'm up against the Vatican and whatever other meta-human wants me for the money, and that's not counting the normal authorities, and the very heavens themselves. Do you still want to help?" She shrugged. "Do you know Nietsche?" she said seemingly on a tangent. "An existentialist philosopher who once said 'god is dead; we are the new gods.'" Darmyne looked Lucita in the eyes now. It held a fervored light. "I intend to give humanity its freedom..." |

Lucita straightened up and brushed her hair back, eying Darmyne with a small considering frown as she listened to the demonic girl speak with almost feverish fervor. The agent had started acknowledging to herself, that following darmyne around and limiting her damage extend, was going to be a troublesome mission. However, she had promised the girl, and there really was no better way to keep an eye on her. She had to watch Darmyne herself. Doing otherwise, sending in a task force and leaving it to others, would inevitable result in casulties, deaths. Lucita did not doubt that Darmyne was capable of killing when forced to; she just did not do it unless it was needed. "I know the Demiurge theory ..." She spoke casually, sending Darmyne a straight stare. "So, you don't believe that whatever is controlling this grand galaxy, is entirely perfect? I guess not." The sound of sirens in the distance brought Lucita's head up, and her lips narrowed down into a straight line as she remembered the last feedback she had given her superiors; call for an ambulance. She glanced towards the half-eaten corpse on the floor, and grimaced. There wouldn't be a need for any medical aid now. She looked towards Darmyne, nodded and reached down into her belt for her cell phone - dialing quickly the short number, and brought the phone to her ear - still staring on Darmyne. "Those are my responsibility. Hold your minions, please; let me take care of it" Her attention returned to the phone as she heard the call go through. "Watterson? Torres here; first off, get ahold of the people in that ambulance coming - give them new orders. There's nobody left here to save, and I'm handle an .. ahh, delicate situation right now; I don't need complications. And next, let me have O'Connor ... " There was a pause as Lucita waited, her gaze drifting off Darmyne for the first time as she was once again given another to talk with. She did not like O'Connor; a fact clearly evident in her impatient behavior towards him. "I need you to get ahold of .." She stopped abruptly, glancing towards Darmyne, with an almost startled look on her features as she remembered something. She continued speaking tightly, with her eyes now on the other girl. "Get ahold of my .. 'father'; give him a direct line with me. And whatever he says I need, I really do need ... I'm not joking around. You actually did me a favor by not giving me assistance. Now I'll ask you to keep everyone and everything away from Darmyne ... no, we are -underpowered-, do you hear? She has a bunch of pets, and I don't think they'll go away on their own if you shoot her. It could turn into a massacre. Now get daddy dear over there; I can't work as well with you as I can with him, and we want this to go smoothly in case anything goes wrong. Ių'll call you later. Have him there." She hung up, exhaling deeply before turning to watch Darmyne expectantly - and listening. The sirens had stopped, that was not necessarily a guerantee that the medics had left entirely, but if they hadn't yet, they would soon. "I'll need a little more elaboration on that, y'know. But you can tell me on the way. Where are we going?" |

Darmyne watched her warily. Could she trust her? She didn't really know for sure. She crossed her arms, and waited though. If she kept at least one group off her back so much the better. Calmly she listened. "You're serious about this aren't you?" she said when Lucita dropped the phone. "Your father, huh? I think I can understand why you're so scared to fail..." "For a while we're not going to make any move," she said. She didn't want to reveal everything just yet, but she had already given the idea. Might as well say half of what she intends. "I'm waiting for something to return from my last trip...after that we go pay the Templars a visit..." Yes for now it would have to suffice for Lucita. "Let's go..." She said at last indicating end to any further discussion. She turned to leave thinking deeply. What had she gotten herself into with this arrangement? ooc: End thread. I'll post a new one soon, but I'll give you a rest unless you want to jump to a new thread. I want to give the others a chance to enter the sl... |
