Getting Back in Shape; 1.5 Gs, open

Lupis walked into one of the free gravity chambers, wearing the plain black gi he usually wore for training. He had with him only his plain, wooden staff.
He cranked the G's setting up to 1.5 times normal Earth gravity. He felt the weight of his body increase as the engines hidden beneath the room hummed into activity.
He flicked the scenery setting to random, and the room flickered slightly before resolving into a wrecked city.
Finally, he summoned up a single AI "robot" to fight against him, setting the system to increase the difficulty as time wore on. A nondescript, humanoid hologram materialized in front of him, also wielding a staff.
Lupis sank back into a fighting stance, his staff held at the ready. He had been away from AHS for too long -- he was in serious need of a good workout.
"Bring it on..."

A tall, incredibly well built man appeared in the doorway to the chambers, wearing a pair of black baggy jeans and military steeltoe boots dating back to the Vietnam era. He wore no shirt, and there were several scars adorning his body. Three scars that looked to be large exit wounds were over his right lung, plus another handful of scars roughly an inch in diameter dotted his abdomen and chest. There were hundreds of small scars along his upper body and face, most likely from shrapnel of some sort as there was no real pattern in the way they were arranged. On his back were a dozen or so scars from shotgun pellets, not to mention several more from the .45 calibur pistols wielded by someone he was not on good terms with at all. And those were only scars from the wounds that others had given him.

There were four round scars arranged in a rectangular sort of pattern on his back that were approximately two inches in diameter, another scar on each shoulderblade that was an inch and a half in diameter, a scar on each of the man's upper arms and forearms that were of about the same size, and a round scar on the palm of each hand that was just under an inch in diameter. These were scars from using his own power, a rather painful process that involved him causing the bones inside his body to branch off into spikes that would then pierce his flesh and could be used in combat.

"Hate to interrupt your showdown with your doppelganger, but you mind if I join you? I need to train in these chambers to keep my speed up, if I'm not under extra g's on a regular basis it'll start to drop. The g's are usually sufficiently higher, but I imagine this will do until another chamber is free," Seth called, walking into the chamber and showing no signs of strain under the gravity. He'd gained superhuman speed by pretty much living and training in what was known as the Room of Fighting Spirit, something that had been torn down and replaced with the Gravity Chambers. The Room had only one setting; 500 times the Earth's gravity, and Seth surmised the reason it was replaced was that it could be fatal (and in his case, almost was). "Besides, the two of us might learn something . . . "

Lupis glanced at the scarred newcomer.
"Sure," he said after a minute. "Want me to get another robot, or you just want to spar?"
Lupis didn't have a preference either way, but he figured he might get more out of fighting a human with a unique style than fighting a robot which was, essentially, a large parrot.

"You're the one who was here first, it's pretty much your choice. I don't care which it is, either. I've had my share of fights with both the bots and students alike. Hardest one to date has been with one named Nayama. All involved, myself included, had to pay a visit to the infirmary afterward . . . " Seth replied, stretching briefly while he spoke.

Suddenly four large bone-spikes pierced through his flesh, emerging from his back with a small amount of blood. They grew rather rapidly until they took the shape of a large set of a spider's legs, though there were only four as opposed to eight. Through it all, there was no expression of pain or discomfort on Seth's face; in fact he didn't seem to pay any attention to it. Once the proper length, the spikes arched forward over Seth's shoulders (or around his midsection for the lower two) in preparation for combat. Whether it would be a bot or the boy in front of him that he would be fighting had yet to be determined, but there was nothing wrong with getting ready . . .

Lupis raised an eyebrow as the four bone-legs arched forward. He was fairly certain that whatever the AI programs of the chamber were capable of, replicating that wasn't one of them.
"Sparring each other, I think," Lupis said with a small grin. He was, technically, a pacifist, but he still enjoyed a decent sparring match.
He tapped a few buttons, causing the holographic robot to dissolve into thin air.
"You care if I use my staff?"

"No I do not. Don't bother holding back at all either, another power of mine is to heal myself. Keeps me from bleeding to death from my bone-manipulation abilities. Assuming whatever attack you hit me with wouldn't be immediately fatal, neither you nor I have anything to worry about," Seth replied, "And don't get upset if you find certain projectiles headed your way, or these other 'limbs' for that matter. They'll give once they contact something, so while it will hurt like hell you won't be in any mortal danger. So long as we're using weapons though . . . I believe a little protection, and suitable equipment, may be in order on my part . . . "

At the base of the 'spider legs', the bone began to move rapidly outward, molding over Seth's body and creating joints in all the proper places until he was protected in a rather intimidating suit of armor. The only part of his body not covered was his head, he felt a helm reduced his field of vision too greatly and would only wear one when absolutely necessary. Granted the armor was still made of bone, but there wasn't a chance that the boy could swing his staff hard enough to break any of it. You see, Seth could manipulate all the aspects of his bones, including how durable they were. Right now it would take anti-armor bullets or a small explosion to so much as damage his armor, nothing the staff could do would be getting through to physically harm Seth. There would be an uncomfortable yet brief jolt of pain of course when the impact caused the bones to move a very small amount, after all they were only able to exit Seth's body by creating rather large and deep wounds. The portion of the armor covering his forearms started growing in another direction, creating a set of blades that reached roughly two feet beyond Seth's knuckles. They were blunt for safety reasons, but would hurt all the same.

"Now then . . . do you want to attack first, or should I? I always prefer to let my opponent have their turn first, but it's your call here . . . "

Lupis watched with fascination as the bone armor spread over Seth's body.
Huh. Shades of Shredder...
"I'll let you have the first move," Lupis said, sliding into a fighting stance, his staff held at the ready in one hand.
"Whenever you're ready."

"Fair enough. We'll begin on a high note . . . " Seth replied, suddenly vanishing from view and reappearing right in front of Lupis with one of the 'spider legs' swinging at an upward angle towards his side in an attempt to swat him across the room. Seth wasn't intent on winning the sparring match just yet, he was only testing Lupis' own speed so he could adjust his own accordingly. Training in the Room of Fighting Spirit, and then keeping up on his training here in the Gravity Chambers, had granted Seth the ability to move at superhuman speeds. It also presented a problem when it came to making a sparring match like this an even match-up, so he would need to try various speeds in his attacks to see how Lupis could react to them.

Lupis barely had time to react as Seth appeared in front of him, one of the boney spider-legs swinging up at him. He launched himself backward, but still took most of the hit. He was indeed knocked across most of the room, but managed to kick off one of the buildings the room had created for scenery. He landed on his feet and rebounded into and attack against Seth, his staff spinning.

"So that movement speed is suitable then? Very well, then I can stop testing your reflexes and start sparring with you . . . " Seth said, waiting until his opponent got closer as if he were preparing himself to dodge out of the way, but once he was within range Seth instead reached out and grabbed the staff with both hands and attempted to use it to swing Lupis over his shoulder and slam him straight down onto the floor, obviously the momentum Lupis already had would make matters that much easier. Normally Seth would never allow both hands to be used at once in a fight, but he still had the four extra 'limbs' at his disposal if Lupis somehow managed to reverse the move . . .

As he felt the staff jerk in his grasp, Lupice instinctively kicked off the ground, turning it into more of a guided flip than the intended slam. It still jarred his legs as he landed behind Seth, but he instantly released his staff on contact with the ground, spinning into a punch against the other student's back -- he flicked his chi gauntlet on as he did, because he doubted he would be able to get a normal punch through the bone armor. He wasn't sure if Seth would feel his hit anyway, but it couldn't hurt -- besides, the etheral "brass knuckles" would help prevent him fro breaking his hand.
