Keitaro sat on the motorcycle behind Yumiko and let her tie his helmet strap, eager to have her in close proximity once again (despite the fact that he couldn't have tied it if his life depended on it). In a few seconds, she finished and turned around facing the road and twisted the throttle making the engine roar with anticipation. "You ready?" She asked teasingly. "Yep. Been waiting all night for this after all." he replied with a grin. She smirked and shifted gears unexpectedly, making Kei wiggle off balance. He quickly grabbed onto her waist and held on while they sped off down the fire road. Suddenly, he felt like he wasn't affected by gravity. The ground beneath him seemed to dissappear in a blur of gray, his eyes watering a bit from the force of the wind sneaking between the openings in his helmet. He glanced at Yumiko in front of him, mesmerized by the crystal reflection of the sky on her helmet. Though he couldn't see her face, Kei knew she wore a smile from ear to ear. He was so happy they were going to be spending the day together. In the past few weeks he had been doing next to nothing other than training and fretting over Teo's situation. It was such a relief to be somewhere new, especially if it meant sharing his time with one of the most adorable girls he'd ever had the priveledge of meeting. The hills and trees that surrounded the AHS campus gradually gave way to a few houses, and eventually sterling city buildings rose up and engulfed the two of them in neon lights and signs. "Welcome to Domino, Kei-chan!" |

Yumiko drove carefully through the streets, making sure to not hitting anything or anyone. In a long stretch of road, Yumiko speed up a bit, "So, Kei-chan, how do you like Domino Town?" She asked through a small radio in the helmets, "There are a few places here that I've wanted to check out around here, but I never had the time, and now I do!" She was very happy and excited to be here with Keitaro. She glanced back and blushed, butterflies fluttering around her stomach. She looked back to the street and at the console, "Oh, I need to get some gas soon." She noted, "Please don't let me forget, Kei." She teased. "Ok, so where do you want to go first?" |

"Um... I was kinda thinking we could out for ice cream..." Talking via the radio in his helmet was a little weird, but he went on to say, "I've heard the parlor down the street has excellent root beer floats... do you want to go there?" Little did Yumiko know that the *person* to whom Kei had referred was actually none other than his friend Xandir, the little--well, not so little actually-- tattoo dragon thingy. Any mention of soda and Xandir would make himself present. Maybe I'll introduce Yumi-chan to him one day... Keitaro thought to himself. (((OOC: Muah ha ha.... do you want to go there?" Yumiko smiled and almost drooled at the thought, "Oh, that sounds good!" She giggled and swirved on the bike a bit out of happiness, "I've only had a rootbear float once when I was a little girl. My mother made it, but I've never had one from a shop." She looked around, trying to find the ice cream place. "So, do you know where it is?" |

"So, do you know where it is?" "Hehe... actually..." he began nervously, "I don't know exactly where it is, but I know it'a right next to a huge fountain on some kind of promenade thing. Well, that's what I heard anyways." He heard Yumiko make a 'hmmm' sound that was cute enought to make him blush a bit, then added, "I'd still like to go, though. I'm sure we could find it in no time at all! Really!" Without thinking, Keitaro released his grip on Yumiko's waist and placed his hands over hers on the handlebars, moving the motorcycle into the turn lane. She didn't seem to object, but Kei could tell she was reluctant to have a rookie take over her bike. When the light turned green, Kei twisted the throttle and the two of them sped off onto one of the side streets. "We should be on the lookout now, keep your eyes peeled for that fountain, Yumi-chan!" They were so close. Kei felt kind of manly and powerful the way his arms were wrapped around the girl sitting in front of him. Then again, the blushing that followed in the next 2 minutes or so seemed to diminish that image ever so slightly. And so they searched and searched for about 5 minutes, but neither the fountain nor the ice cream parlor itself were anywhere to be found. They had gotten so far that they were in the outskirts of the city; the sparkling neon lights were now only a blur of color as they passed through the mass of grungy buildings. Kei was about to say that they should turn back when a gust of wind blew straight at them. Yumiko's hair flew behind her into Kei's face, causing the bike to swerve out of control as he let out a gigantic sneeze. Time seemed to slow down as Kei and Yumiko toppled off of the bike, which skidded a few meters ahead of them, mere inches away from the patch of dirt they were most unfortunate to have landed in. Kei's white jacket was now a dusty shade of brown and his hair was caked with sand. He hastily got up on his elbow to see if Yumiko was hurt, but when he saw her he couldn't help but giggle. Yumiko had already taken her helmet off and was sitting up, straightening her own jacket which had escaped all but a few splotches of dust. Kei sat up and took off his helmet, inching closer to her. She's more than okay...she's positively adorable, Kei thought to himself as he gazed at her. Yumiko looked up at him in surprise as she felt his thumb brush across her cheek. "There. That's a little better." he said, tipping his head sideways. "Er... on second thought, maybe we could try using this instead..." Keitaro reached into his inner jacket pocket and pulled out a small, white handkerchief. Or at least it used to white. He shook it in the air, creating a little cloud of dust. "Tsk. Guess that plan failed too, didn't it?" (((OOC: ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SOOO mad! It took me about 45 minutes to write this post, then what does my internet do? Yumiko giggled as Kei put his hands on hers and began steering, "Wow Kei, for a first time, you're sure confident about taking control." She teased. She looked around for the fountain, it was taking a while and she had let Kei take over mostly, but she still kept her hands on the handles, "Oh, I hope we find it soon..." Suddenly, Kei sneezed and the bike went out of control! Fortunately, Kei and Yumiko weren't hurt, thanks to the patch of dirt. She blushed a bit as he rubbed some dirt off, but then giggled uncontrolabely when his usually white handkercheif came out brown and dusty. When she gained control of herself, she began looking for her bike, which was conveniently on it's side, in a parkinglot in front of a bike-gang bar. Her bike was barely touching the first of many bikes in a row. She looked a little nervous and took a few steps as if she thought that if she stepped too hard, the bikes would fall over. The first bike began to wobble and slowly lean toward the long row of bikes. One by one, they fell like dominos. Yumiko watched helplessly, "O-Oh dear." She had heard that bike gangs weren't very pleasent, and their bikes were like thier babies. A large group of even larger men came out, all wearing bike helmets and harley davidson jackets. They glanced at the bikes and then at Yumiko and Kei, then at Yumiko's bike... (((ooc here's a small suprise for you, onee-chan *insert evil grin here* ooc))) One of the men stepped out of the group and looked at Yumiko's bike thourghly, then he looked at Yumiko, "Little Miko-chan? Is that you?!" Yumiko's once frightened face brightened, "Kon-jiji-san! Sorry for knocking over your bikes, I had no idea the whole group would be in Japan at this time of year!" She looked at Kei, "Kei-chan, this is my dad's closest friend! He's been like a second father to me ever since I was born." |

Kei could hardly believe that they had ended up crashing Yumi's motorcycle into a bunch of others, let alone the fact that they belonged to a biker gang. His first fleeting thought was that the two of them would be robbed and beaten, the cost of the damage taken from their backs. But then he saw the leader step foreward from the group and utter the last words Kei would have thought possible to fall out of the mouth of such a tough guy. "Little Miko-chan? Is that you?!" Keitaro's mouth fell open slightly of its own accord, his eyes glancing from Yumiko to the glossy helmetted, rugged beast before them. Shocked might have been an understatement for how Kei felt when Yumiko stepped foreward and replied, "Kon-jiji-san! Sorry for knocking over your bikes, I had no idea the whole group would be in Japan at this time of year!" She turned her head to face Kei and said, "Kei-chan, this is my dad's closest friend! He's been like a second father to me ever since I was born." Yumiko had appeared to be the type that was raised by a proper, well-mannered, white-picket-fence family, but apparantly the old proverb, "you can't judge a book by its cover" was indeed correct. Keitaro wasn't one to judge a person by their parents by ny means; after all, he had an upbringing quite different from what one might call normal. The leader, now removing his helmet, approached Kei with an inquiring eye that made the boy feel a tad uncomfortable. But at the sight of this, the man let out a hearty laugh and gave Kei a friendly slap on the shoulder. Now that the leader had broken the ice, Kei felt a little better. He peered up into the man's beady eyes and saw a glint of kindness hidden beneath his heavy brow. Maybe this guy isn't all that bad... Kei thought to himself. In any case, I don't want to seem rude... So Keitaro gulped down his nervousness and spoke up. "So you know Yumi-chan's father, Jiji-san? |

"So you know Yumi-chan's father, Jiji-san?" Yumiko looked slightly suprised at the question, as if she had remembered something. She smiled sadly and turned away a bit, walking toward the rest of the gand. She greeted them as Kon-jiji-san sighed, "My name is Konoji, by the way, call me Kon, or Kon-jiji-san, like Yumiko does. About me knowing her dad... I used to know him, but when Yumiko was little, he passed away." He ruffled Keitaro's hair, "I'm gonna need you to take care of Miko-chan, you see, a little less than a year ago, her mother died-" "Kon-jiji-san, don't bore him with stories!" Yumiko called to him, beckoning them over, "It's very depressing for him, I'm sure." She smiled happily and watched as the gang straightened the bikes, including Yumiko's bike, "Now come in, Oishi-kun said he'll treat us to some drinks." Konoji smirked and leaned down to whisper in Kei's ear, "She may not look it, but she's quite the drinker! I haven't seen her pass out yet!" (((ooc lol ^_^ ooc))) |

"...About me knowing her dad... I used to know him, but when Yumiko was little, he passed away." For the second time that day, time seemed to stop in its tracks. Passed away...? He thought to himself, shifting his gaze towards Yumiko. I never would have thought... Keitaro's thoughts were interrupted when Konoji ruffled through his hair, causing bits of sand to fly through the air. Before he knew it, Kei was being led inside the grungy bar by the leader, who was whispering in his ear, "She may not look it, but she's quite the drinker! I haven't seen her pass out yet!" This new information fried what was left of Kei's brain cells; neither of them were of legal drinking age, but Yumiko seemed to have beat Kei in that sort of experience... all he'd ever had was a sip of his Shishou's sake when they were celebrating Kei's kendo tournament victory. He had no idea whether or not he could hold his liquor, but against his better judgement, he downed a shot of clear red stuff that smelled like it had been left out in the sun for a few days. With cheers and peer pressure from the crowd around the two of them, Kei and Yumiko had managed to go through a counter-full of alcohol. They had been playing a drinking game for the last half hour or so, "truth and lies." The rules state that a person should tell 2 stories: one that's true and one that's a lie. If you guess wrong, you have to do a shot. Unfortunately, Kei was less talented than most at this little game, for his cheeks were more than a little rosy after his fourth losing round. "Um...Konoji-jiji-ji...ji.jiji...san..." Keitaro scrunched his face in concentration, trying to remember exactly how many 'ji's to put after the leader's name. The scruffy barge of a man sitting next to him at the bar gave him the evil eye for a moment, then Kei, struggling to make out which blurry shape was Konoji sluttered, "Aaah, gomen...gomennasai, gomennasai...I...um..." Keitaro looked down at the floor and bowed a few times, but the damage was done. Kei couldn't even rmember what he was going to ask the guy. After a few seconds, Kei heard another booming, hearty laugh coming from Konoji next to him. He looked up steadily as the man said, "Hahahaha! Well, I'm not quite that old, Taro-go!" With that, he gave Kei yet another friendly slap on the shoulder, nearly causing the boy to fall off the barstool, meritting yet another huge chuckle from the old man. Keitaro turned around to see what Yumiko was up to, but she was laughing at him too. In fact, she seemed quite unable to stop laughing. There were tears in the corners of her eyes and she was clutching her stomach, laughing as hard as she was. The sight of Yumi drunk and hysterical brought forth a bout of giggles from Keitaro himself... |

Yumiko giggled cutely, hick-uping every now and then. She finally began calming down when she looked at Keitaro and began giggling again, "Oh my goodness! You look so... HAHAHA!!!" She laid her head down on the counter and continued laughing, kicking her feet around. Even the bartender was laughing. Come to think of it, the whole bar was laughing loudly. Konoji slapped Kei on the back, "You look like you've just been on the wildest rollercoaster in the world!" He too, started to laugh, "I can never get over the look on a kids face when they first start drinkin'!" He stopped laughing long enough to tell him about Yumiko when she had her first real drink, "When Yumiko was really little, she would always watch her dad, our close friends, and me drink while barbequing and she would always want some. Now, her mother disapproved, so we waited until her mom went to the store. We gave her a glass... or so." Oishi stepped up and laughed, "Konoji, you gave her a newly opened bottle!" Konoji bellowed with laughed and nodded. "Ah yes, I remember! I had just taken a sip of a newly opened bottle-" He began, motioning like he had a bottle of beer in his hands. "And I started to cry." Yumiko interviened, still giggling and hick-uping, "I was such a brat, I wanted what you had, Kon-jiji-san, and I was upset that you didn't give me any, so you let me have a full bottle." Remembering the whole story, Konoji nodded and chuckled, "Miko-chan was falling around and her face was priceless, it was like she was in heaven... or just getting out of bed! You're still a spoiled brat, riding your dad's bike like it was meant to be raced." The whole bar exploded in laughter, loving the fact that she was just like her old man, "If we didn't know better, and your hair was shorter, we'd think you were a boy!" Yumiko grinned and nodded, then downed another shot. *An hour later* Yumiko giggled with a small group of the gang while the rest of the gang crowded around Kei, asking him questions about what he thinks of 'Miko-chan'? "Do you think she's cute?" "Do you like her?" "How long have you two known eachother?" "You're a pretty lucky guy to have found her!" They all slapped him on the back and laughed, wishing him the best of luck with Yumiko, even though they never really let him answer the questions. "Sorry guys *hik* it's late and a school night. I want to attend *hik* high school seriously so I need my sleep, right?" The group cheered and agreed, seeing that she really was like her dad with school, "Kei, you ready? We really *hik* need to get going." Konoji smiled nervously, "You sure you'll be able to get back to school?" One of the guys immeiately called out of fits of laughter, "Are you gonna be able to get out of the parking lot?! HAHAHAHA!!!" Konoji smacked the guy over the head, "Shut up, Arai, be nice to Miko-chan!" "I think we'll be ok, right, Kei?" Yumiko sat next to him and smiled, swaying a bit in her seat. She grabbed his hand and said bye to everyone as they headed out the door and to her bike. When they were both on the bike, she kicked up the kick-stand and was about the start the bike when the bike began to lean. Fortunately, they landed in a soft bush under a young sakura tree. Yumiko began giggling and turned to face Kei, "Well, this is fun." |

"Well, this is fun." Fun, indeed. In that moment of panic between the initial tipping of the bike and falling on the ground, Kei had reached out to save Yumiko from getting hurt in the fall. As it turned out, his reaction speed was slower than usual (how could it not be after all of that alcohol?!) and he ended up half falling on her instead of the other way around. They really were in quite the predicament. Not only were they completely saturated in liquor, but their fall into the bush had served to add a few loose twigs into the dusty mess that was their clothing. "Sumimasen, Yumi-chan," said Kei, blushing fiercly as he slowly lifted himself onto his elbows over her. "Are you okay?" She giggled again and said she was fine. Keitaro hazily (is that even a word?!) sat up and looked down at Yumiko. "Need a hand?" he asked, holding his own out to her. She took it and Kei pulled her up to a sitting position in front of him. "Tsk, tsk. Just look at you, Yumi-chan... dust and twigs all over the place..." He reached up to pull a little twig out of her hair, not removing the lock they had on each other's eyes. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it wasn't.... But unconsciously, Keitaro found himself leaning in closer to Yumiko, close enough that he could have counted the freckles on her nose. They were so close... her eyes fluttered closed, as did Kei's... And then they heard the cat-calls. And the smooching sounds. And the 'ooh-la-la's. Yes, standing on the veranda of the pub was the entire gang, laughing and cheering amongst themselves. They didn't stop laughing even when Kei and Yumiko had separated, looking in opposite directions of each other. If anything, that and the fire-truck red faces of the teenagers made them laugh even harder... |

(((ooc "[]" =speaking american ooc))) Yumiko knew... she knew it was coming as her eyes closed of thier own accord. She feared this moment, but also, tried to pull the moment into being. As hard as she tried to convince herself that the alchohol was making this happen, she knew deep in her heart that she had been looking forward to this ever since they had made plans to go for a ride. So close... yet... so far... Cat-calls... oh dear! They were there, she had forgotten! She quickly pulled away from Keitaro and looked away, her face beat red and her heart racing. It was too soon, right?! But it felt so... so right. She looked up at Konoji with an embarrassed look on her face, "A-a-ano..." She grinned sheepishly, "I-It's not what you think, Kon-jiji-san!" She laughed nervously as he leaned down to her. Suddenly, he began to laugh. "You two are much too drunk to drive home by yourselves!" The whole group roared into laughter again, running over to Yumiko and Keitaro to help them out of the bushes and pick up thier bike, "We're gonna have to drive you guys home, though, the only one who can drive your bike, other than you, is the man who built this custom beauty." "[That would be me.]" A young man, only about 28, stood at the door of the bar, holding a cigarette inbetween his index and middle fingers. He smiled at Yumiko as he put the cigarette in his mouth again, "Yu-chi." Yumiko's drunken smile brightened, "Iruka-san!" She swaying a bit, then ran to him, falling into his arms after tripping on the top step. He held her up and put the cigarette back in his mouth, "I'm so happy to see you, Iruka-san... ah! I have to introduce you to my..." She blushed a bit and went on, "... my friend." She gave him a look of 'I think I really like him'. Iruka grinned and patted Yumiko's head, speaking in japanese this time, "Yu-chi, you have a boyfriend already?! That's not fair, I thought you were saving yourself for me..." He put his index finger under her chin and lifted it so it looked like he would kiss her, "Ya' still ma' girl?" He glanced at Kei from the corner of his eye, then back at Yumiko. "Of course, Iru-kun, I'll always be your girl!" She pushed him away a bit, "But for now, meet Keitaro Maruyama, the first friend I made at my new school." She pulled him over to Kei, taking Kei's hand and pulling them together, "Kei, this is Iruka-san, the one who built my bike." Iruka held out his hand as he threw the cigartette down and crushed it under his shoe. "[Nice to meet you.]" He said in english with a japanese accent to make it sound funny. Yumiko giggled a bit and hugged Iruka, then Kei, still quite drunk. "So, who will be driving us home?" Yumiko asked. Konoji raised his hand and so did Iruka, "Ok, so I'll be riding with Iruka-san on my bike while you take Kei on your bike, Konoji? And then Iruka will ride back with you?" Konoji nodded and procceded to pull his bike from the group of motorcycles. Iruka pulled Yumiko's from the edge and looked it over. He sighed, "You haven't been taking good care of this bike, Yu-chi, I'm going to have to come over sometime to fix it. Hope you don't mind." He gave her a sweet look. Yumiko shook her head and blushed, then looked at Kei. "Don't worry, Kei, Konoji is a really good driver, even if he is a bit reckless." She began laughing, as did the rest of the gang, "Anyway, we have to go now, everyone! I'll see you guys when you next come around, ok?" She recieved cheers and more cat-calls about her and Kei, but she just waved to everyone and ran over to Iruka. |

*Later, at the front of the AHS Campus* Keitaro threw his leg over the bike seat after Konoji got off, a small hole at the bottom of his jeans snagging on the rear brakes, making him stumble over onto the sidewalk. Konoji wasn't really paying any attention to him, being preoccupied by the spit-shine he was giving the metal handlebars. But when Yumiko saw Kei struggling to get his pants untangled, she leaped off her bike and went to help him. In a moment, Kei was free and he stood up to thank the old man. As to be expected, Konoji was already back on the motorcycle, cranking the throttle so that a roar loud enough to wake up the whole campus reverberated out of the shiny pipe. "Ano... kore wa...nan desu ka? Ano...omoshiroi desu...?" [#Trans. below ;p] said Keitaro, trying to find an appropriate word to describe the night's events. He was still more than a little tipsy and there were still remnants of twigs and dirt in his hair and on his clothes. "Doumo arigatou gozaimasu, Konoji-ji-jiji-san... mata ai mashou," [##] he added bowing to the old man. "Iie, iin desu, odaiji ni kitto. Oyasumi!" [@] "Oyasuminasai!" Yumi and Kei replied in unison, waving to them as they rode away. "I'll see you two lovebirds again... 'night!" Added Iruka in english as he drove off, ignoring the fact that Kei had no clue what he'd just said. The two of them stood and watched their friends until their silhouettes dissapeared into the darkness. A cool breeze passed by after a moment and Kei saw Yumi shiver next him with the corner of his eye. "Aa, samui desu ne," [@@] he said, rubbing his hand against her bare arm lightly, trying to give her a little warmth (little did he know, Kei's touch was the reason she shivered again...). "Sou desu," [%] Yumiko replied, her cheeks blushing red. (((OOC: Damn. Remembering all that japanese is tough. Looks like the rest will be in english ^^; Gomen...:OOC))) "I guess we should be heading back now... don't want you to catch a cold," he said cheerfully, holding his hand out to her. "I'll walk you to your dorm." This may have been a thoughtful gesture on Kei's part, but he was swaying on his feet and could scarcly figure out which way the Suzaku dorms were. Everything was blurry and spinning ever so slightly... ... They managed to get to the dorms in a timely manner, only tripping and bursting into fits of laughter 1 or 2 times on the way. In the meantime, Kei and Yumi had stopped in front of the glass doorway for a good bye. They sort of... just stood there for a moment. Taking each other in, I suppose. It wasn't awkward...not at all. More... soothing in a way. They were both a tad nervous, but... Since they had begun to walk back, Kei had sobered up, little by little. Therefore, he may or may not have consciously made the decision to lean close to Yumiko at that moment. He may or may not have known that his feelings for her had grown so immensely in that day alone. He may or may not have realized that on the other side of his closed eyes, Yumiko was drifting closer to him, eyes closed as well. But either way, there was an undeniable bond between the two of them at that very moment. The very moment Maruyama Keitaro and Tanaka Yumiko shared their very first kiss. ~*~ [Translations: #Um... this was... what was this? Um... interesting? ##Thank you very much, Old, Old, Old Man Konoji... see you again. @Don't mention it, just be sure to take care of yourself. Good night!" @@Oh! it's cold, isn't it? %That's right/I agree.] (((Couldn't help myself. XD I think I got a *tad* carried away, ne? Hehehe... too bad I got a little lazy with the japanese though... ))) |

"Bye bye, Iruka-san, bye bye, Konoji-ji-chan!" She waved as they drove away, then walked... or stumbled... over to Keitaro, smiling at him, "Tonight was a lot of fun, Kei-chan. I hope we can do it again." They stummbled to the dorms after tripping and laughing a few times, more or less hanging onto eachother for support, but Yumiko was finally able to stand by herself by the time they got to her dorm house. She wanted to say something, but they just stood there. As if time stopped, Yumiko could feel herself being pulled closer to Keitaro. The feeling made her close her eyes as she leaned toward her love. Thier first kiss, the first of many... It seemed like forever before Yumiko pulled away for a moment. Her face was beat red and she could see that his was too. She giggled a bit and hugged him, "Oh Kei!" Tears of joy fell from her eyes as she looked up at him, "You wouldn't believe how happy I am..."
