What a nice autum day it was, outthere in the courtyard. Cyan, clad in his red and black robes, sat quietly on a bench, head reclined back, eyes closed. His hair hung loose over the back of the bench, trailing down a foot and a half behind him. He hadbeen playing around with his violin, which rested on his lap, his hands resting on the instrument. He hadn't been playing any music, really, just tuning it up, messing around, seeing what needed to be tightened. that sort of thing. And now, with the sun shining, a a bit of a breeze blowing, he felt like relaxing. So, thats what he did. And, of corse, he dreamed. |

A white dress flapped in the light breeze. The wind had played with her long tied hair disturbing its righful place behind her back. Her soft padded footsteps were focused and determined and her violet tainted eyes were bent on a purpose of curiosity. She reached down toward this stranger in hopes, not of waking him, but of taking a closer look of this....this....instrument. A light warm smile took over her lips as she gently ran her fingers across the violin. Another human toy, perhaps? She never ceased to be amazed at everything that being on Earth provided for her. It was almost....charming.... Zlex took a closer look at the sleeping guy and debated within herself whether to wake him or not. She finally decided to gently tap him. Perhaps he wouldn't be mad at her for doing so. He looked so comfortable and relaxed; she almost regretted waking him. "Is this yours?" She heard herself ask in a voice that sounded almost too confident to be hers. "I've never seen one in real life. Do you play?" She took a seat beside Cyan on the bench and faced him. She had forgotten the common courtesy of the humans....introduction before conversation. Yet, to be truly honest, she couldn't care less about that right now...her attention had been grasped and she intended to satisfy her massive curiosity... |

Cyan felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. "Don't worry," he told her, "I'm awake." "Is this yours? I've never seen one in real life. Do you play?" "Yes to both questions," Cyan replied. "Although, I haven't played in a while...Just fixing it up, for now...When you don't use it, the strings stretch, and the sound gets messed up." Straightening, Cyan cracked his back, and rolled his neck. His black hair, when he sat up straight, went past his shoulders by perhaps three or four inches. He wore black and red robes, which hung from his thin body. Of corse, by the way he moved, those robes concealed some muscle. "Would you like to hear?" |

She quirked an eyebrow. Would she like to hear? Is that what he had asked her? Then again, it wasn't so out of place now that she thought of it. Besides, it would be nice to hear one up close like this. "Yes please, if you don't mind." She answered with a light smile....Oh yeah, introductions....that usually came first in conversations didn't it? Yes, it would have seemed that she now remembered her teachings. "I'm Zlex by the way. Sorry for such a delay." She shook her head as if she were disappointed in herself. And perhaps she was. But for the moment, she put all of those things on the back burner....or at least until after Cyan played a bit... |

Cyan nodded. "A pleasure, Zlex," he said, noting how unusual the name was...Perhaps it was foreign...Yes, no doubt of it. "Cyan Montag," he told her, by way of introduction on his own behalf. "You'll have to ecuse me, I haven't played ina while...I'm probably a bit rusty." Cyan straightened fully, and positioned the butt of the instrument under his chin, before setting down to playing. He was a little rusty, true, but it was overshadowed by how good he actually as. If he practiced regularly, no doubt the music would truley have been sweeter than any fruit. |

It was very clear that Zlex was enjoying this entertainment. It reminded her of the nameless anonymous tunes that were hummed on her own planet. It's true that she had heard one of these instruments before, yet it didn't seem to sound as good as it did now. Assuredly he was skilled. She had longed to be able to play just like that. But that was just a silly little fantasy that she had. No one was going to let her play music...and by no one, she meant her family. The family that was no longer with the air of life. And even though every member of her family was probably dead, their influences had never left her free. Unconsciously, she gave a little sigh. She was almost jealous of the notes themselves. This guy....he was interesting. She'd never heard of a guy playing. Yet, he played very well for being rusty. Zlex pulled her knees into her chest on the bench and payed close attention to how he played and the sounds that rose into the air. So fascinating. She would have commented, yet doing so would have been sinful and cruel. All she could do was let the music dance into the sky until the moment Cyan would cease his playing... |

The song wound to a rapid cresendo, his fingers moving lightning fast across the strings, near the top of the instrument, whilst the bow darted back and forth. Before long, though, the music came to a close, ending with a sweet, high note. "Well," he murmered, "what do you think? I need practice still...I messed up the cresendo." He brushed aside his black hair, resting the violin in his lap, the bow atop the violin. |

Zlex almost regretted opening her ears to the conclusion of the peice. Suddenly, the atmosphere was lost and bare without the fullfillment of music. Everything seemed to hold its breath as if waiting for an encore. Yet, as tradition permitted, she clapped before she commented on his work. "Bravo. That was quite wonderful. I've never heard anything like it." She admitted with a little nod of the head. "If you were rusty at all, you hid it well. Perhaps my ear is not trained to pick out mistakes and I therefore found no mistakes." She scanned the violin with her eyes the way she had when she first came upon Cyan and his little instrument. "So where did you get such a lovely instrument?" She asked after a short pause. Of course, as always, her curiousity was one that little could be done to stop from springing back up. In fact, most of her questions were unconsciouly tucked away to prevent her from sounding somewhat nosy...she didn't want to be outright nosy did she?... |

"I got it back home, in Germany," he told her. "One of the last its prodecer made...It's old. My dad used to play it, before he got sick." He loveingly ran a gloved hand over the worn wood. "I've had it since before I can remember...Seems it's always been there, like an old friend, you know?" Grinning, he shook his head. "That, though, is silly. How can an inanimate object be a friend?" |

Lupis had, until this point, been lounging in the mid-upper branches of a tree that had been planted near the bench. He was half-dozing in a nice crook of two branches when his reverie was mildly interrupted by violin music. He looked up, searching for the source of the music. He moved fluidly into a crouching position on the wide branch. He saw, looking down through the branches, a boy in red and black robes playing a violin for an audience of a girl in a white dress. Lupis quickly worked his way down, jumping the last five or six feet to the ground. "That was good," he said walking over to the bench. "Not too many people play these days." |

Germany? It brought back a nostalgic feeling that was almost impossible to ignore. But, she'd never been to Germany...yet, her heart longed for it. There was only one explanation...one of the triplets must have been there for a while. This feeling wasn't hers...Perhaps it was her brother's. To be honest, Zlex didn't like this longing one bit. It reminded her that there was another that looked just like her in the world. Such a notion wasn't one that she wanted to deal with quite yet. She had missed a few words that Cyan spoke. She did, however, catch the bit about his violin being like an old friend. To this, she smiled. She, too, had her old friend that had been with her from birth. Yet, it wasn't a musical instrument like his was. No, hers was considered a weapon and one that she was strangely proud of. It wasn't the idea of power that amused her most about it, but rather the warmth and the feeling of being accompanied with everywhere she went. "I know what you mean. Yet, I don't think that it's silly at all. I have my bow and the arrows that come with it that have been with me forever. To me, they are my friends." Saying this made her feel rather silly herself. She'd even took up talking to her legendary weapons. Could comfort really be extracted from a weapon? She didn't have time to think of this new proposition due to another voice that had spoken into the atmosphere. The figure was behind her and she made no motion to turn and look at him. Instead, she nodded in agreement with his compliment and waited until he came into eyesight. So apparently he had heard the music too. It didn't seem to surprise her one bit. Such music was better heard by a larger crowd anyway... |
