Lupis had dressed himself in his usual training gear -- a pair of black gi-pants and a plain-grey t-shirt that he usually just used as an undershirt. His denim jacket, which he had worn as a concession to the cooling weather, was laying neatly on a neaby rock where he could find it. At his side hung a scabbard, in which rested a short, one-sided sword. Its length was somewhere between that of a normal katana and a kodachi, and it was quite tough. He fell back into a fighting stance, pulling the sword out of the scabbard. He began going through the technique forms he had learned over his years of training in the martial arts, flowing from one set to the next without stopping, gradually speeding up. It was all about fast, fluid movement. |

Emily had decided to take a walk in the medow by herself. Never before had she really been alone without someone with her and never before had she felt so free. She was even wearing jeans which she never had done before. To go with her jeans, she wore a light blue sweatshirt. As she walked, she hummed to herself looking around every which way at all the grass, flowers, and trees. She only stopped when she saw a boy over in the distance with a sword it looked like he was busy training. She sat down on the grass as quietly as she could and just watched him, maybe he would see her and, maybe he wouldn't. It didn't much matter to her, she just liked being outdoors. |

Lupis was, at this point, entirely absorbed in his training. The forms had all been ground into his brain by long training sessions in steamy a sweat-filled dojo, to the point that he slipped into a sort of mental autopilot when training. It would likely take something of life-threatening proportions to get him to stop before he considered himself finish. The small part of his mind not entirely focused on swinging his blade against his imagined foe noted a blue-lad figure a bit of a way off in the grass, but it was little more than a passing acknowledgement. Lupis enjoyed these intense training sessions. They let his mind be absolutely focussed, and without distraction. Some people used that type of concentration to silence their inner fears and demons. With Lupis, this was slightly more literal. Reluctantly, he let his pace wind down slightly, the final form coming to a close. He returned smoothly to the starting stance, sheathing his blade. He was, by now, covered in a fine layer of sweat. |

Emily watched him train and was happy that she wasn't bothering him. That really was the last thing she wanted to do. He looked like he was very good at using his sword, but than again that was in practice. The real thing was very different than that. She started to pick the flowers that were around her. It just gave her something to do. After she picked a good dozen flowers she looked up again to see that he was now done training. She set the flowers down next to her to see what he might do next. Would he leave the meadow and not even see her like her masters had done or would he talk to her? She was too scared and shy to start up a conversation on her own. |

Lupis glanced around as he stretched following his workout, feeling the mild burn of thoroughly excercised muscles. He noticed, again, the blue-clad fgure, this time conscious enough to note that it seemed to be a girl. Oh, what the hell... He needed to rest a bit anyway before walking back to his dorm, and there was no point in standing around like an idiot... "Hi there," he said, walking over. "Care if I sit here?" He sat down on the grass next to her a bit more heavily than he intended. ((OOC: Your character profile is missing the appearance pic, just fyi.)) |

"Um, I sure." She couldn't get the words yes out of her mouth. Never had anyone ever asked her if they could do something, they just did it. She did notice he had sat down without a reply but Emily was sure he was tired. "I was watching you, you look good out there. My name is Emily by the way." She smiled at him brightly. ((evil computer,, Emily I'll fix that)) |

"I was watching you, you look good out there. My name is Emily by the way." "Oh, thanks," he said. "My name's Lupis." He wiped some sweat out of his eyes, wondering vaguely why he felt so at-ease with this person. Something about her seemed to invite trust. I don't like her... As always, the demon spoke not in actual words, but as a bundle of malevolent feeling at the back of Lupis' head that somehow carried meaning. Good enough for me, ass-crumpet. Anything that made the demon trapped inside his mind uncomfortable was fine by him. |

She put her hand to her head, she could hear voices in her head telling her that this boy was nothing but trouble. Never had the dead talked to her before like this, they only talked when she wanted to talk with them. Everything always seemed to happen to Emily, from being a slave to hearing voices in her head and now the first real nice person she meets she is told to stay away from. "I'm sorry, just have a headache. I'm not used to my gifts yet or really anything yet. It's a pleasure to meet you Lupis." |

"I'm sorry, just have a headache. I'm not used to my gifts yet or really anything yet." "Boy do I know that feeling," Lupis muttered, almost more to himself than to the world at large. He turned up the mental 'pressure' he used to keep the demon locked away, doing consciously what he usually did through sheer, ingrained, stubborness. "I take it you're new here?" He asked this at a more normal volume, absent-mindedly plucking a blade of grass. |

"Um, yes. I just arrived here a few hours ago so I know nobody except I have met you. If I do say something stupid please forgive, I'm new at communicating with people. If you could please tell me also, I would like to learn from my mistakes. If you don't mind me asking what brought you to AHS?" Emily wanted to get to the bottom of why he came off as cold, evil and the dead had told her to run away. She wanted to help him, learn more about her gift/curse, and hopefully make a friend. |

"If you don't mind me asking, what brought you to AHS?" The living collection of bad vibes that's waiting to take over my body and go on a rampage. "Oh, I needed to get better control over my powers," he said. He flicked the blade of grass away. 'I suppose it's not critical, but I can't use it for more than minute without feeling really drained." He stared into the distance for a moment, temporarily lost in thought. "How about you?" |

Should she tell him the truth? The last thing she wanted was him to feel sorry for her, but he would think her strange if she didn't share because she different. "I..I came here because I was a slave, I bought myself and came here because I can communicate with the dead and I know when someone dies. It's my curse and it haunts me all the time along with my past." She looked down at the flowers, not wanting to even look at him. |

"I..I came here because I was a slave, I bought myself and came here because I can communicate with the dead and I know when someone dies. It's my curse and it haunts me all the time along with my past." Lupis blinked as the words actually imprinted themselves onto his brain. Something of that magnitude, spoken so readily, took a second or so for him to actually grasp. Speaking to the dead wasn't that big a deal, at least not immediately -- there were probably plenty stranger things around AHS. It was the part about slavery that took him a moment. Lupis' strongest belief was in that of personal freedoms. Slavery was, in effect, the one thing guaranteed to shock, appall, and piss him off. He looked at Emily, trying to think of something to say, but words failed him. He looked back into the distance. It seemed incredibley strange to him that she seemed to consider her powers worse than her past. What the hell do you say to something like that...? Why did so many people at AHS seem to have such dark pasts? Maybe it was something in the land, as if the ley lines around AHS acted like some sort of magnet for people with stories that would be at home in shouo manga. Or maybe it was some sort of counter-balance to being metahuman -- the karmic price paid for their abilities. Or maybe the universe just liked screwing with the students here. There was a long pause before he spoke again. "That... I don't really know what to say to that," he said at last. I can feel your anger... you have no idea how strong it could make you... Shut. Up. He shoved the demon back into the recesses of his mind, deep enough that the meaning behind the mass of feelings couldn't reach him, at least not on a conscious level. |

"It's quiet alright, you don't have to say anything. My past haunts me now and it always will. I do know that something haunts you but I don't know what. I just don't want people feeling sorry for me." He had taken it better than she excpected and Emily was very gracious for that. The last thing she wanted it to do was upset him, but it did seem like it might have. Emily really had nothing to talk with anyone about so how was she suppose to carry out a conversation? "I'm sorry, I should not have told you that." |

"It's quiet alright, you don't have to say anything. My past haunts me now and it always will. I do know that something haunts you but I don't know what. I just don't want people feeling sorry for me." He glanced over at her. Had she sensed the saifon? If she had a sixth-sense like she claimed, it was entirely possible, though it seemed she hadn't entirely figured it out yet. Do I tell her? There was the briefest of pauses, barely an instant, before he answered himself. No. There was something intrinsically trustworthy about Emily, and she sounded as if she had been through worse than he, but he couldn't tell something like that to a person he had just met. "I'm sorry, I should not have told you that." "No, it's all right," he said. "It's not like you can just pretend your past doesn't exist." He plucked another blade of grass, looking for something he could say that wouldn't sound forced. "You're right when you say there's something haunting me," he said. "I'm sorry I can't go into more detail." |

"Don't worry, you don't have to tell me. I plan on one day finding out why. I'm sure the dead have a good explanation for telling me to leave now." She sighed and plucked at the grass. She was really telling him everything about her, but what did she have to hide? She had nothing, that was what. "Did you grow up with a family? Your past is happy right?" |

The dead told...? Oh, right. The sixth sense thing. "I have a feeling you'll find out," he said. "Just not today." He honestly did, for whatever unexplainable reason, want to tell her. He got the feeling she might be able to understand better than most. She had her personal demons, and so did he -- just in a far more literal sense. "Did you grow up with a family? Your past is happy right?" "Yeah," he said. "My life was fairly normal, for the most part. I suppose I was pretty lucky like that..." |

"Yes, I have always wanted a family. I have looked for my parents but they are dead, means I'm alone. I'm glad you have a family, one of us should be happy. I must stop slavery, nobody should go through what I did." He was right, she would someday find out what he was hiding because she was determined to. He was both warm and cold to her, evil and good. One day one of his sides would win and she knew the good side would preval someday. "How long have you been here, at AHS?" |

I must stop slavery, nobody should go through what I did." Damn right. He glanced back over at her, wearing a very small half-smile. She did, it seemed, have some sort of intensity to her beyond what she seemed to apply to cracking open his past. "How long have you been here, at AHS?" "A couple weeks," he said. "This isn't my first time here, though. I came here for maybe a month, but then I got called home and ended up staying there for about a year..." |

"Do you like it here? I hope I like it here, I'm sure anything is better than were I came from." She smiled and picked at the grass. "It's not your fault, your not evil. I promise to help you." |

"It's not your fault, your not evil. I promise to help you." Lupis looked at her again, one eybrow raised slightly. She was certainly frank about things, if nothing else. "I'll let you know if I ever need help," he said with a small grin. "Though by that point, there may not be much you can do." He meant it as a joke, though probably not a terribly amusing one. It was, however, rather true when he thought about it for a moment. He was among the first to admit that he could be stubborn to a fault. The point at which he would actually need help --at least in the way she meant-- would be after the demon had broken loose. At that point, there wouldn't be much anyone could do short of an excorcism. He shook himself out of his minor reverie. "Anyway, AHS is a pretty nice place," he said. "It's quiet around here, aside from the occaisional super-villain attack." Again, he spoke with a small grin to show he was joking. |

"Good, I am looking for piece and quiet. I know this is going to sound wierd but what do people our age do for fun? I don't really know much about anything fun. If you could help me out, that would be great. I would owe you." She let go of the flowers and looked back at him and smiled. It seemed so far that she would be ok here. Maybe he would be her friend, for the first time in her life she was happy. |

Lupis paused for a moment, thinking before he answered. After a year away from AHS, he felt a bit out of touch. "There's a lot of stuff in Domino and Tokyo," he said after a moment. "Closer to the school though, there's mostly the areas around campus." He made a small gesture at the surrounding landscape. "There's the Underground, too," he said after another short pause. "I don't usually go there much, but I know a lot of students do." |

"What would you do at these places? Would it be too much to ask if you would come with me to one of these places? I don't want to go alone, I would pay for anything we did." She hoped he would come with her to anywhere. It didn't much matter to her, she just wanted to enjoy the rest of her life and hope to forget everything that had happens. |

"People mostly go and just sort of... be with their friends, I guess," he said, flicking away the blade of grass again and plucking another. "It's more who you do stuff with than what you actually do, I think. I wouldn't mind showing you around, or something, but I'd pay for at least my half." He looked over at her. "Did you have anyplace in mind?" |

"Ah, I see. Thank you, I would like it for you to show me around. There is no need for you to bring money, for your trouble. I have been to Tokyo before, that's were I work but I really havn't gone into any of the stores because, I don't know why." She stood up to stretch her legs. |

"So Domino, then," he said, also rising and cracking his back slightly. "And I'll pay for my half, regardless of what you say." He grinned slightly again. "I haven't been to Domino yet myself, so this'll be a new experience for both of us." He paused, knuckling the small of his back a bit. "I need to stop back at my dorm anyway. I'm in desperate need of a shower..." |

"Fine than, do what you want. I'm not going to stop you. I didn't know this school had dorms. I kinda have my own house, it's a long story were it came from. I have to go get money anyway so, this will work out fine. Where would you like to meet?" |

"We could just meet up in Domino," he said. "Or we could meet in the courtyard and then go to Domino..." He thought for a moment. "Maybe it would be better to meet up in the courtyard," he said after a moment. "Less chance of ending up in different places in Domino, or something." |

"Ya, knowing me I'm likely to get lost. I'll meet you in the courtyard than. How long do you think it will take you to get ready. I can be back in like an hour. Yes, that sounds about right." It would take about a 40 minute ride back and forth from the school which would give her 20 minutes to change and get money. |

"An hour'll be plenty of time," Lupis said, shrugging. "I'm not in any huge rush." He started off in the direction of the dorms, but stopped after a few steps. "See you in about an hour, then," he said before continuing. ((Continued in the Courtyard)) |
