Men would never understand. Some complexities are beyond them, such as pulling the car over and asking for directions or simply listening to the intelligent person in the back seat. It had taken much longer then necessary for Kira to get from the hospital to AHS simply because the driver that had been arranged for her was obviously one of the dumbest creatures on the planet. The past two hours had been spent driving in circles while the driver ignored Kira’s suggestions and laughed at her directions. Eventually Kira got fed up with it and had opened the car door while the vehicle was still in motion, causing the driver to slam on the breaks. Once they’d stopped Kira hopped out of the car, grabbed a small bag that held all her worldly possessions, bid farewell to her moronic driver, and began to walk to AHS.

Arriving at the school, Kira was glad to find that she wasn’t tired in the least. After receiving information on where she was staying, she quickly made her way across campus towards the building she was going to be staying in. She didn’t keep the map they gave her, merely looked at it for a few seconds before handing it back, assuring them that she’d be able to find her way around without it. The truth was that she could now pull the map out of memory and see it in her head in as great a detail as if it were directly in front of her.

Looping the single strap of her bag over her shoulder, she began her walk towards Seiryuu. As she walked, she took in everything around her; the people, the little nooks and crannies that didn’t appear on the map, and other things that simply caught her interest. She did not stop to speak with anyone on her way to her new room but instead analyzed them, making note of anything unique in the way they carried themself or their overall appearance. Kira put each person into a category, one that might change if she learned something new about them later on. The shy ones, the arrogant ones, class clowns, cheerful, pessimistic, all these characteristics were easily obvious even to the most casual observer.

Reaching her destination, Kira finally paused and stared up at the building. Of all the dorms, it was the closest to the forest, which pleased her. If she ever needed to escape, she would be able to easily hide herself in the vast stretches of trees and shrubs. Her perusal of the outside of the building complete, Kira entered and immediately headed for her room. She’d never been inside a dorm room before but all she had to do was be observant and she knew she’d soon find where she was going. As she suspected, Kira found her room after only a minute or two of walking about. Opening the door, she peered inside, surveying everything before taking a single step. Despite having lived in safe places for the majority of her life, her lessons from the street would always stick with her, making her at times, overcautious.

Satisfied that everything was safe, she quickly unpacked, which took a grand total of one minute six seconds, and then began to explore every nook and cranny of the room. During this time, she didn’t realize that she’d left the door to her room wide open. She didn’t even think to check that she’d closed it because it was a mistake, and she rarely made mistakes.

((OOC: read the character profile. I take it you're an Orson Scott Card fan ^_^))
IC:
As Kira was moving in, Lina was performing a minor experiment. That's what she told herself, anyway. In reality, she was doing something that was rather stupid and pointless, yet fun. It had started when she found an abandoned skateboard lying by a dumpster outside the dorm building. Through a series of mental leaps involving X-Men, Tony Hawk, It's Walky, grade-school science class, and Back to the Future, it had escalated to the point that she was now standing on the skateboard at the end of a long hallway, wearing a bike helmet and an impromptu jet-pack fashioned from one of the building's numerous fire extinghuishers, and wielding an inflatable mattress in front of her like a shield.
"Five," she said softly, under her breath. "Four, three, tw- oh, screw it. Contact!"
As she nearly yelled the last word, she yanked on a short cord attached to the extinghuisher.
*FWOOSH*
"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
She rocketed past a number of doors at high speed. One of them, incidentally, was Kira's.
"Hoooooooooo!"
A second or so later, there was a loud thumping noise. The board had hit a bump in the floor, sending Lina flying off onto the mattress. The board continued for a while, crashing into the wall at the opposite end of the hall moments later.
"Whee..."

Glancing up from peering under her bed, Kira was just in time to watch a girl go hurtling past her room. Turning back to her task, she placed the socks beside another pair and then closed the drawer. Standing, she walked to her door and looked out at the disaster that had occurred without showing much interest in it. She’d known people who would do anything to get attention or gain notice from others and almost certain that this girl was the same, she took her time going to investigate.

Stopping in her doorway, she leaned against the frame and examined the outcome of stupidity before her. She was about to turn back into her room, close the door, and simply pretend she hadn’t noticed anything awry when she realized she didn’t really have anything better to do at that moment aside from continue exploring her room, which could be done at anytime. Taking a step into the hallway, she closed the door behind her and walked over to the form of the girl sprawled across a mattress.

“Are you okay?” she asked, squatting down so that she was more at the other girl’s current level. As she spoke she took in the skateboard at the end of the hallway, the fire extinguisher, helmet, and mattress and couldn’t help but shake her head. Any mind that could come up with this random assortment of items for such an activity needed some serious help or perhaps just something more valuable to do. “What was the purpose of this anyway?” she asked, already cringing inwardly at the thought of the answer being ‘fun’.

((OOC: Yup, I love Orson Scott Card. I paid tribute to him with Kira’s last name.))

“Are you okay?”
"Yup," Lina said, sitting up.
“What was the purpose of this anyway?”
"Studying the possibility of alternative propulsion," she replied in complete seriousness. "Fossil fuels are being used up, but there's plenty of CO2 to be found."
One of Lina's talents, it is worth noting, was coming up with of-the-top-of-her-head ideas (and explainations) that seemed somewhat plausible -- at least up to the point where they blew up in her face.
