Six burning candles were in the room that morning on her empty desk as Miss Laquina sat in her chair, reading through one of the many books that she had brought with her from her vast bookshelves. The classroom was large: a chalkboard behind her desk had Miss Laquina written on it, for the students to know who she was. After all, she was a new teacher at the school and not many of the students, if any of them, would know who she was. Seven large half-open windows lined the wall to the left of Miss Laquina, and an announcement board, with nothing tacked into it, was all that was on the opposite wall...for now. Miss Laquina didn't care much for decoration: it distracted from what she was trying to teach.

She looked towards the clock. Twenty-five minutes until eight o'clock. She had plenty of time to do a meditation. She closed her eyes and prepared herself, breathing in and out, and the flames on the candles began to dance rapidly. She could feel them. This would help her to relax and prepare for the day she had ahead of teaching her new students at a new school as she awaited the first students to walk through the door.

Jessica looked at her schedual, "Yep this is English.....great." She slowly walked in the room tugging her skirt down,

*Could they make these things any shorter?* Jessica thought to herself as she looked at the teacher meditating.

She just took a seat in the front staring at the lady. She looked at the board..*Miss Laquina? A unique last name.*

Akakage staggered along the ground towards class, in quite a daze, and murmuring to herself the whole way about how "Anything before noon was too early" among other morning rants. having had an early morning shower, Aka's hair was soaked through, untied, and getting her shirt very wet with drips. Aka deemed the uniform "Too silly looking" and was presently dressed in her Shirt, Socks, and Combat pants. Her boots had been too hard for her to figure out so early in the morning, so they were missing.

"This is the place....I think...." Akakage muttered as she entered the classroom, and made her way for the desk furthermost from the teacher. "At least I aint the first..." She said as she slumped into a seat. After a few moments, she pulled a sign with the words "Already know English" on it, placed it on her desk, and rested her head on both arms...then went back to her favourite hobby...sleep.

Ameira walked into the class room dressed in her uniform, and clutching a map of the school in her hand. She glanced around the room, and seeing only a couple students, took anouther look at her map to make sure she was in the correct place. Nervously, as it was her first class at the new school, she took a seat in the back still unsure if it was the right room.

Lance and Xariel walked into the classroom together. They were gathering notes for their friends. While Xariel sat down in his chair, Lance couldn't help but stare at the english teacher. The last english teacher he could remember didn't do this. Maybe she was once some kind of monk considering she was meditating around candles. He didn't risk making her awaken and incur her wrath, so he sat down next to Xariel while waiting for class to begin.

"Ungh," Lupis said. walking into the classroom. "They schedule these classes too early."
"It's not that early," Harker said, trailing behind the older student.
"When you're waking up to an alarm clock," Lupis said. "Anything before eleven qualifies as early. Maybe ten. It's like a universal law, or something."
"If you say so," the redheaded Brit replied. "But I still say you just don't get enough sleep."
"At least eight hours every night. My body knows what it needs."
"Then explain those," Harker said, indicating the dark circles beneath his roommate's eyes. "YOu don't get those by sleeping regularly, and you don't seem like the type to use makeup."
"'Those' are filed under a category I like to call 'Things Best Left Alone'," Lupis said, shutting the door on that line of conversation.

English class... this was going to be very interesting to say the least.
This was Irvines first time wearing the school uniform and it wasn't going well, the shoes were very uncomfortable, the shirt was too bright for his taste and he couldn't wear his hat to class.
"Great, just great" he remarked as he peeped into the classroom and saw the number of desks that were set up. Being among so many people would be a whole new experience for him and as he laid eyes on the teacher he pretty much knew that this would be a long day.

As he walked inside and saw only seven students inside he was hopeful that no more would show up. But he just walked down the rows of desks until he noticed a sleeping girl and sat at a desk near by. "Looks like shes got the right idea" he told to himself as he also began to nap.

Classes now apparently required this dress code that he had never heard about till the current class. He’d decided to just put on this dress code on under his trench coat. Students were ahead of him in the halls and he felt a little insecure without the comforting feeling of having Tlachtga by his side. Though sure the duel sided spear would be within reach if he needed it.

Reaching the class he noticed he wasn’t the only one a little sorted about the schools dress code, the short skirts on the girls seemed a little too short for some of their tastes as they frequently tugged to lower it. He didn’t say much about it though it was an interesting sight to say the least.

Their teacher was yet another new face one he never met and English Literature seemed so unrelated to anything he could think of on the campus’ path of destruction that this class had to have some secret value to the defense of the students. He took his seat, next to the fidgeting girl with a clutched map across her desk.

“New to the school? I think being in the wrong class is probably the least of your worries.”

"Hmmmm... Now, let me see here. Am I late yet? No? Well, no matter. I don't have to be, really."

(The voice belonged to a well-matured female, one dressed in gray pants and a black shirt. Her hair was brown and terminating just past the neckline. Slim and agile, she was not human. The brilliant green eyes that distinguished her race was complimented by the fox-ears of brown with black tips and also the gray fox-tails, three in total. In other words, a spirit kitsune had entered the room. Name: Rish Govani. She had been known to be a student here, though not many could say what she was here for. Right now, she had a notebook and a pencil, writing things down here and there. It was, currently, her intention to study the modern human tolerances of aggravation. She would see just what it was that put 'ants in their pants' on a daily basis. Everyone was irritable this morning, for instance.)

Rish: Hmmm....yes. Early mornings to a class or work is always an annoyance. The evidence sure bears this out. I see the teacher is attempting to cope. Good, good... I wonder how long that will last...

(The amused grin of a kitsune is either to be laughed with or to be feared. Rish was not always nice to people. In fact, she had done very well in the past, tricking people out of their money, their clothes, and even their very lives. What the kitsune was after, she would pursue until it was hers, a habit that she had become rather good at these past couple of centuries. She began to write more things down, taking notes that had very little to do with class.)

*Though he this time was not late to class -- he was actually early -- Daisuke was still running down the hall at full speed, this time with his uniform already on him instead of him putting it on as he ran. Daisuke, of course, wanted to see if he could beat his time for getting to class, and as he runs into the room, the second he gets into the door, he hits a button on his watch to stop the stopwatch.*

DAISUKE: Nice! I shaved two seconds off my time ^_^

*He then makes his way into the middle of the classroom, where he takes a seat.

Meanwhile, Ken'ichi had managed to actually find the correct room with enough time to spare. He comes in carrying a backpack on his back that seems to be full. He had some training planned afterwards, so he had put a few spare shirts and jackets in his bag along with a few targets. He just barely had enough room in his backpack to put his books. He had put his guitar in his locker before class, so he could just stop off and get it on the way, but he didn't want to go to all the trouble of unloading and loading back in the spare uniforms and the targets.*

Ameira turned to the boy who had just tooken a seat in the desk beside her.

"yea, the schools a bit bigger then I thought it would be."

She tucked the slightly wrinkled map away in her backpack, and looked up at the teacher and the candles on her desk.

"And a little different."

She sighed and turned back to him twisting in her uncomfortable uniform.*Whats the point of these.* she thought

Jessica felt herself getting very impatient with the class she was in already. She knew hadn't rung yet, but she couldn't stand being in the outfit any longer.

*Wonder how Kam is holding up in her classes.*

"And its to damn cold in here.." Jessica looked at the windows and walked up to one of them and opened it. A gust of wind seemed to come in the classroom, it was very chilly. Mostly the way Jessica liked it, not caring if the other students were cold, she walked back to her seat and sat down.

The bell rang loudly and Miss Laquina awoke from her meditation, the fires on the candles coming to a rest as she got up and closed the door then turned to the class. "All right, class, welcome to your first or perhaps new semester of English Literature." She began. "I'm Miss Laquina," she introduced herself to the class, picking up a book from the class, opening it to the first page. "I assume all of you have your Anthologies of Poetry, which we will be using this semester in our exploration of the world of poetry."

"I assume all of you have your Anthologies of Poetry, which we will be using this semester in our exploration of the world of poetry."

"poetry, great" Irvine sarcasticly muttered to himself, he never was fond of poetry.
He went through his bag until he found the book and quickly flipped through the pages to see how long it would probably take him to read it. The whole semester? couldn't be, so there was definitly more to this class than poetry.
He gave off a large yawn behinde the book still half asleep and braced himself for the possible torture that was going to follow.

((OOC - Lazy days... got a lot on my mind... even in vacation))

With a sigh he closed the door as the bell rang, the teacher introduced herself as Miss Laquina. He took a seat in the front row, after having crossed the room. The windows were very appealling to him as he could try and look outside.

"...Anthologies of Poetry..." Was a fragment of the teacher's talk. With a tired gaze Errian looked in his bag, fishing out a pen, a piece of paper and a book, "Anthologies of Poetry" read it.

Natasha, in contrary to many of the other female students, wasn't bothered by a short skirt, instead she had gotten herself one wich came to her ankles. As class had started she had taken a few notes, sitting on the side of class where no windows were to blow cold air in someone's face. Also she had brought her book with her.

Jessica dropped her bag on the ground and opened it to look for her book and a pen.

*Poetry? You gotta be kidding me. Sometimes I wonder why the heck I even come to school. None of this is going to help me in the future.*

She then got her book and pen out, and looked back at the teacher.

Akakage cursed some rather violent words to herself as she was quite rudely awoken by the cold air, and looked up. After a few moments, she remembered that this was class, it was early, and she had had very little sleep the night before...

"Damned cold air..." She finally muttered, and hugged herself for warmth. "Huh? Where'd everybody get books from?" Akakage asked, before realizing everybody else had bags and such, and she did not...

Ah well, good enough excuse to fall back to sleep, by her figuring.

Ameira opened her backpack then, relizing she never got any books, closed it again. Deciding she couldn't get in that much trouble by not having a book, she sat back, relaxed, and decided that she would either wait quietly for further instructions, or if none came, drift to sleep as other students were.

"Okay, then, class..." Miss Laquina spoke sharply, opening the textbook in her hands and then looked to the students themselves. "I want to know from you, your initial perception. What do you think poetry is?" It was an interesting question, but she wanted to get some ground done by trying to get a definition of poetry out there before they started on it. She quickly adjusted her necklace as she awaited a student to volunteer a response.

*Normally, Daisuke would be all over the questions, always trying to raise his hand first to beat out all the other students much like a contestant on Jeopardy! would try to buzz in before his/her opponents in order to answer the question and possibly win the money. However, he doesn't know the answer to the question. Because of that, he decides not to "buzz in," so to speak. Ken'ichi is also stumped; is there even one clear-cut definition to it that does it justice? He knows what poetry is; he can't put it into words, though.*

What do I think poetry is? Irvine was really stumped, not by the question itself, but by when it was asked. And why would someone ask a question like that, other than as a rhetorical question, escaped him.
This really was going to be a long day and thank god he never had a teacher before if they all asked such things, but he still felt sleepy thanks to that darn clock so he tried not to be noticed which really was him being himself.

Akakage yawned, and slowly raised her head. Something had woke her up again....somebody talking? Ooooogh....Evil people, why cant they let her sleep?

"I want to know from you, your initial perception. What do you think poetry is?"

Akakage blinked, and blurted out the first thing to enter her mind, which this early in the morning, were not very well put together, or....polite.

"Poetry is a buncha freaks in tights babblin about their love affairs with other freaks in tights! Or something along them lines..."

Jessica raised her hand then looked back at the girl who had blurted her answer out. "Wow..before you answer a question..think before you say.."

Jessica then looked at the teacher. "I think poetry is how people right thier feelings out."

*Some poeple are just plain ignorant.*

Miss Laquina shrugged off the sarcastic answers. "Anyway...here is the syllabus for the year. For our next class, I expect you to read the first fifty pages of the book and select four poems that you like and write a bit about each of them."
