"Yours is still fresh in memory," Jerum rumbled. His own betrayels had happened long ago. one before he was born, and the other many years ago. He listened to her, as she told him about what exactly had happened, with her and...Minoru, she called him. He frowned. How could somebody treat Annalyn, innocent and caring as she was, with such thoughtlessness? "Terrible," Jerum growled. Woe betide this Minoru, if Jerum ever got his hands around the boy's skinny neck. "You're too good for him, if his eye and heart turned so quickly from somebody as kind as yourself." |

Annalyn blinked a few times as she stared up at Jerum and smiled a bit. Ocean blue eyes getting slightly misty with supressed tears. Her vision becoming slightly blurry as she shook her head lightly, a few of the tears slipping down her face. She quickly used the palms of her hands to wipe her face but stopped. Her hand were covered in blood from when her finger nails had dug into her skin. The mermaid stared at Jrum as she smiled. "I guess that's what made me so gullable. No?" Annalyn said with a sad smiled on her face as she wiped her hands over the snow, leaving a red streak. The bleeding had stopped and all that was left was died blood. A few questions coming ot mind then. "Jerum, are female land walkers better than those that resid in the sea?" She questioned with a raised brow. |

"Not gullible," he told her. "Trusting, of those you've come to care for...He betrayed you, and it effected you." Her next question surprised him, more than he thought her previous question about love had. Jerum wondered why she asked him questions like this. Though he was glad she asked him, trusted him enough to ask, he was no master in the areas she asked. What cloathes were warmest, how to clean weaponry, where best to harm opponents, offense and defense. He was skilled in war, and some civilian duties...But not love. "As far as I can figure out," Jerum said, completley truthful, "The women of the sea have no competition, when you compare them to land walkers. If they are all like you, I wish I had been born with a tail, instead of legs." |

As Annalyyn listened to him, a smile instantly came to her face. Her ocean blue eyes showed just how much his words meant to her. Both her hands coming over er heart, as if it truly did touch but not in a physical sense but in a mental one. A few tears sleeping from her face, though not ones of sorrow. When they hit th ground, they turned into pink pearls rather than regular ones. The mermaid stared at Jerum with a bright smile on her face. "Thank you." Annalyn said, a bit happy as she leaned forward and planted a kiss on Jerum's lips. She quickly pulled back with a worried look on her face. "I'm sorry, I should have asked for." She bowed her head lightly to him. |

Jerum smiled, glad he could make her feel so good. He had spoken the truth, too. He found little reason why the men of this time found women so grand. They were gaudy, flirtatious, and high maitenence. Now, if all the women were like Annalyn... Amid his fantasizing, Annalyn did something, which caught him very off guard. She kissed him, right on the lips. Not that he minded. It sent his head spinnning. "I'm sorry, I should have asked for." Jerum had turned very red by then, and tried to stammer a repli, before he finally got one out. "No, don't apologize," Jerum said, "I...didn't mind. I enjoyed it." |

Annalyn watched him and smiled a bit as a small giggle escaped her lips. Her? Annalyn? Giggle? Nah! She was glad to hear his words as she sat there before him with a smile on her face. He said he enjoyed it, Minoru never said anything like that to her before. The mermaid risked it and moved forward to steal a second kiss. He said he enjoyed it after all. Both her hands cupped the side of his face, as if to cradle it before her leps his. A few locks of her hair falling over her shoulders from the bit of movement. |

Jerum heard her giggle...He'd never heard her giggle before...It sounded, to him, like water, moving over river stones. A pleasing sound, to his ears. He felt warm all over, as though the cold Winter had suddenly turned into bright Summer. He was barley aware of her movements, until her lips found his again. He didn't know exactly what happened next. He could feel her hands on either side of his face. Then, his hands were around her, at her neck and back, pressing her closer to him. No doubt she could feel the strength in his arms, though he was very gentle with her in his arms. |

Annayl had closed her eyes as she kissed him even after he placed his arms around her. Her lips moved over his, almost in a secret dance that they only knew about. This close to him, she could feel the strenght his body held. She also knew, if he wanted to, he could crush her. Yet he was being so gently with her, almost as if she were a fragile jewel. For that, she was happy. After a few more moments, she pulled awy in order to breathe. Her eyes were now a drowing dark blue, only a few specks of ice blue in them. |

As she drew back, Jerum looked into her eyes, those eyes which cnaged color. "Annalyn," he rumbled, "I...don't know what to say..." Indeed, he didn't. He'd never felt as he did now, not for anybody. Ever. What were the emotions he was feeling? Everything he'd tried to explain to her, when she'd asked what love was. And more. More than he could explain, things you couldn't put into words. "Annalyn," he rumbled again, looking into her eyes. "Do you...?" |

It took Annalyn a few more seconds to gather her wits together in order to speak. And another few seconds to realize Jerum was speaking. He was better at regaining his composure than she could. Her eyes had the lost look in them for a few seconds before she was able to focus on him. His arms, his warmth, and his voice. She touched the side of his face lightly to bring the rest of her mind to the surface. This had never happened to her, not even with Minrou. It was like after one kiss, she had to climb herself back to reality. "Jerum..." She lightly spoke, her voice no louder than a whisper. "I...have never felt that before....have you placed an enchantment upon me?" |

"I'm no magician," he told her, his voice a quiet whisper. "Annalyn, if I had placed a spell on you, I would have made sure it didn't affect me...yet, I think it has...Annalyn, I don't know what I'm feeling, right now..." His hand trailed through her hair, down to her back. "Annalyn, I think...I love you," he told her, his eyes looking into hers. His hand ather back trembled slightly, not knowing what she would say, in responce to what he'd just told her. |

Annalyn listend to him and smiled as she felt his hand go through her hair and to her back. A small shudder running through her body as she closed her eyes a bit to gather her senses. She opened her eyes again, though they continued to stay that same dark blue as she leaned her forehead against his. A smile playing across her face. "And I Jerum, think I am in love with you. You may be a worker of magic in your own way though," She spoke as she reached for that shaking hand and placed it upon her chest, on the spot above her heart. Her forehead still leaning against his as she began to speak. Her lips a few inches away from his. "To have made me feel this way." |

Jerum smiled, then. Not the small, quiet smiles ofbefore, but a large, joyous one, showing rows of squared white teeth. "Perhaps," he murmered, feeling her heart beat beneath his hand. He felt helpless against her now, more so than he had at any other time. "I am blessed, to have found you, before others could get ahold of you," he murmered, his lips finding hers again. He leaned back, his arms holding her to him. |

Annalyn smild as she listned to Jerum and smiled. She had that fluttery warm feeling at the pit of her stomach. Her hands now laying on his chest as she listned to him speak. Inhaling a bit, the cold air seemed almost distant, like an echo in the shallowest of halls. The mermaid closed her eyes as she felt his lips again, though this time he had come to her. A few locks of her hair framing the side of her face as she kissed him. "You're not cold?" She whispered against his lips before she kissed him again. Ussualy people were cold as soon as they touched her. Even if it was the barest of touches. |

He let their kiss linger, longer than was definatley nesecarry. It didn't matter to him, not right now. He was happy as things were right now. If he were to die, he hoped that the afterlife was like this... As their lips parted, he looked to her eyes again. "I had thought you'd placed an enchantment on me," he murmered. "I feel as warm as though it were summer." His fingers ran, again, through her soft hair, savoring how soft and pleasent to the touch it was. His other hand was still about her waist, holding her to him. |

Annalyn savored the kiss for everything that it was worth as she hld onto Jerum. To her, the kiss seemed to go on forever, that's what her mind what her to think and she loved it. When she felt their lips gain space between them, her eyes fluttered open and stared into Jerum's eyes. She continued to stare at him, even after he was done speaking. A smile instantly coming to her face. "Maybe I have....so I coule rid you of that cursed cold that bothers you so," Annalyn said with a smile and laughed a bit. She felt his hands comb through her hair and leaned lightly into that warm hand. It surprised her though that he hadn't complained about the touch of her cold skin. "I love you Jerum." |

"If that's what you've done, then don't stop," he told her. "I'm definatley enjoying it." He chuckled softly, his breath misting in the cold air. "Even if you are no sorceress, you've put a spell over me...I love you, too, Annalyn. It is something I would not say lightly. I've ever said it of only one other person, and you are as close to me as they ever were." Of course, he didn't expect her to know of whom he spoke. He spoke of the Emperor, ruler and savior of man for thousands of years. |

She laughed lightly as she touched the side of his face lightly. Her shoulders lightly shaking with the action as she stared at him. Annalyn reached out and brushed the tips of her fingers through his snow white hair. She ran her fingers through it and watched as it fell from her hold and slipped over Jerum's shoulders. "I know, my pearl," She smiled and him as she lightly traced her fingertips over his right cheek. Her eyes returning to their normal color, ocean blue with specks of green in them. At the moment, Annalyn never felt so happy and delighted to be with someone. Jerum was that special person, that special person which she loved. "You are the only person to have captured my heart through so many years." |

Truley, that meant something. Jerum knew that the mermaids and their people lived long live. Some said they lived hundreds of thousands of years. He wasn't sure. He knew that he would live longer than most people would. He could be 150 years old, and still only be in his early middle age. Still, even if he lived to be 300 years or older, that was a drop in the bucket, compared to what she could live, if rumor had any truth to it. Still, he didn't care right now. To hell with what might happen! "Then I am truley blessed," he told her, smiling. He placed his hand gently over hers. "Annalyn, when, if, you want...You can come to live with me." He would have stayed to live here, with her, if he could...but he was no mer man., "I don't live here, but in the city. I managed to convince the manager to let me combine three apartments, on the top floor. It's very nice, bigger than anything I had, back home..." |

Annalyn blinked a few times as she listened to Jerum's offer. His words had quite surprised the blue haired mermaid. She would have been more than happy to join him but she wasn't real calm with a lot of people. Especially those that were in a city all scrunched up together. She could handle about three or four but not a thousand of them. For a second, she thought she might hyperventilate just thinking about them. Her ocean blue eyes turned a little so she could gaze at the waterfall behind her. She quickly turned her eyes back to look at Jerum with a small smile on her face. She really didn't want to be alone but she didn't want to be with a lot of people. So maybe living with Jerum wouldn't be so bad. "If I live with you...could I only see you and noone else? I don't do well with people." Annalyn said. |

"Of course you could, if you wanted," he told her. "I live on the top floor...so many people don't come by anyhow." Jerum liked it that way, personally. He was like Annalyn, in the sense that he wasn't a people person. "I don't do well in large Groups, either...Make me nervous. The view is superb, though, and I don't even have to leave." He grinned slightly, running a finger along her jaw. "Of course, if you wanted to stay here, I would come here every day." |

Annalyn smild at Jerum as she listened to him. "Then...I guess I could live with you," Annalyn said staring into Jerum's eyes and smiled a little as she nodded her head. Though she wasn't quite sure when she should live with him. She thought about this for a few seconds before speaking again. "Plus, I know you don't like the cold very much. So I will live with you, you name the time." She smiled. |

Jerum nodded, a happy smile on his face. He knew she must have really cared for him, if she was willing to bring herself out into such a large number of people. "Whenever you're ready," he assured her, "then you can come. Not a moment before. If you're not ready yet, I'm fine with it, Annalyn. I know that I'm not very trusting of people I have yet to know...So, you can stay here for now, if you want." |

Annalyn smiled at her love as she lightly caressed his cheek. She was glad that he wouldn't rush her with the move. Her tail fin moving a bit against the snow as she moved her hands to his shoulders. The mermaid thought about the apartment she still had, it held everything she owned. She had hid the keys in the ground inside a bush in front of her apartment. "Okay, thank you," She spoke with a smile as she stared into his eyes and leaned her forehead against his. One hand up coming up to comb her fingers through his snow white hair. The mermaid lightly brushed her lips against his in a chaste kiss before speaking again. "Tomorrow then. My things are at my apartment if you bring me a change of cloths tomorrow. My keys are hidden in a bush under the ground in front of my apartment. There should be a dolphin shape drawing marking the spot." She smiled. "Visit me tomorrow with cloths." Annalyn spoke. |

Annalyn listened to him and laughed a bit. She had a feeling he wouldn't mind seeing a half naked girl. A smile on her face as she chuckled a bit and touched the side of his face. A few locks of hair falling over her shoulder as Jerum gave her a quick hug. The mermaid buried her face in the crook of Jerum's neck and inhaled his scent lightly. Her arms resting around his waist. Upon hearing his question, she shifted her eyes a bit to look at him. "Sure, what is it that you wish to ask? I will answr anything for you." She spoke softly with a smile touching the side of his face. It was true, if there was anything that he needed to know, he only need but ask and she would answer. There were no secrts she would keep from him. Annalyn loved him after all. |

"How did you come to be here?" he asked, looking down to her. "I mean, how did you decide to come to this school? You are not a people person, as I am not...I was wondering, why you came here? If you had no, I would never have met you." This was something he'd been curious about for sometime. He was here, because he had a lack of anywhere else to go, and a place with many people with...powers, made him feel more at home. Psychers and wizards were, if not common, than accepted in his time, and you could see one or two daily. |

Annalyn blinked a few times as she heard his question. Realization hitting her then, almost like a slap in the face. The mermaid hadn't really told Jerum the true reason for her being here. Even thinking about made her heart feel as though it were being twisted and her throat felt as if it were getting tighter and harder to breathe. Annalyn would have liked to have told him a lie but she wouldn't feel right if she did. She had first lied to him when he asked where she had came from. It made her smile lightly. "I came here....to get help.....my home had been attacked some years ago by machines. I was able to survive and went to that pearl I had told you about. Using the pearl I was able to get legs but I lost the ability to find my people." She said with a smile as tears slipped down her face. Annalyn was true to her word, he only need but ask and she would answer truthfully. |

"Seems quite a bit like the problem I have," Jerum rumbled. "Unable to get home...Annalyn, I would help you, if I were able to." He thought for a moment, though, before continuing. "Annalyn," he began, "if you had the chance, would you go home, if you found out it's not quite how you had thought it was?" |

The mermaid listened to his first words and nodded her head. She had heard about his past, he had told her a bit of it when they had first met. Though, in her mind, it seemed like only yesterday. Her bright blue eyes staring into his as she smiled lightly and shook her head to his next question. "No, I wouldn't. Most my people probably wouldn't be alive. And if they were, I could not bare to face them." Annalyn spoke as she stared into the man's face with a sad smile on her face. There were many reasons why she gave him this answer, though she wouldn't tell him. Her hand reached up to touch his cheek softly as she stared at him. |

Jerum smiled slightly. Though her reasons were saddening in a sense, he was glad that she had said she would remain. It had laid to rest some part of his consience. "I am glad you would stay," he murmered, "despite the reasons...I would miss you if you were to leave." This was a part of him usually unseen. Often, he was cold and distant, not letting his emotions past the barrier he had built around himself. Now, though, those barriers were down, and he was more the person than the soldier. "Annalyn," he asked her, "would you truley want to come to my time? There are few oceans...I don't know if you would be happy in my age." |

Annalyn smiled as she listened to him and slowly nodded her head up and down. It felt nice to be cared and missed. She watched as he began to speak again, a puzzled expression coming over her face. Her bright blue eyes staring into his as she allowed his words to sink into her head. Would she be happy? If she was with Jerum, of coarse she would be happy! Now, if she was going by herself, then it would be very saddening. "Yes, I would be happy. I would be with you, wouldn't I?" The mermaid questioned with a soft smile on her face. |

Jerum grinned slightly. "Yes," he agreed, "you would be." Weather she new it or not, Jerum cared very deeply for Annalyn. For her, he would have moved worlds, if it were required of him. He looked down into her eyes now. "I've asked so many questions of you, Annalyn, and yet I've answered none. I've been so curious about your world, yet I have not answered anything about my own." |

Annalyn smiled as she listened to his words. Both her hands coming down to rest upon his shoulders. Her bright eyes staring into his own, a gently smile on her face as she leaned forward and brushed the tip of her nose against his. It was true, he asked about her and recieved a bit of info on her own part for being here. Though she had not been able to ask him about his time and age. "I would like to know more about you and your time at your home. Even if it seems we are alone, I do not wish to speak such information here in the open. I'm a bit paranoid, but I can't help but feel that I'm being watched." The mermaid said with a soft laugh, feeling a bit silly after saying those words. But it was true, that's how she felt. At least when she was out in the open. |

"I hardly think that there is much danger in my telling you of what goes on in my own time," Jerum rumbled, grinning slightly. "But, if you think it nesecarry, we shall not speak of it here...Mabey some other time, then, unless you'd like to go elsewhere now?" His eyes looked over her shoulder for a moment. Nobody seemed to be out right now. The only sounds, it seemed, were the lake, the birds, and their own words. "It's so quiet," he rumbled, almost to himself. "Peaceful...I can see why you love the oceans so much, if it is like this." |

Annalyn smiled at Jerum as she listened to his words, her eyes briefly glancing behind her. A lock of ice blue hair coming to fall over her shoulder as she turned her attention back to her beloved. She smiled warmly at him, in a sense at least, and gently brushed her fingers through his snow white hair. Her bright blue eyes looking over his face before she began to speak again. "It is, and so much more. Under the sea you can't really hear the waves. But out on the surface you can. I's nice. The sound of seagulls too. Though I prefer the singing of whales any day." The female spoke softly, almost as if she were speaking of a dream. She smiled at him and shrugged her shoulders lightly. "If I were to go anywhere now, I would have nothing to wear. When I get legs, I retain the body heat and I will be vunerable to the cold." |

Jerum nodded. "It is fortunate that I wasn't born into this time," he told her. "If I was, I doubt I would appreciate such simple, elegent things like this." Unconsiously, he stroked her hair, looking out at the water for another moment, before he looked back down to her. "Ah," he rumbled, "that does represent a bit of a problem, dosen't it?" He grinned, his good eye dancing. "Of course, I do not think I would mind as much as you would. I'll make a deal with you, Annalyn. I shall come back here tomorrow to see you, and I can bring some cloathes along. Inr eturn, I hope you would honor me by having lunch with me." |

Jerum nodded,g rinning. It was obvious he was pleased she had accepted. "Of course," he told her. "I doubt many others know the song, much less the language in which it is spoken." Her bright blue eyes watched him as he stood up and trailed his hand along her cheek. Sligtly leaning toward it, despite the tail she had. A smile on her face as she nodded her head. "Till then...." Floating there, a smile on her face as she watched him. The mermaid would watch him go off befor returning to her watery bed. |
