(( OOC-Oops. Sorry. XD ))

Annalyn blinked a few times as she watched the snow hit the man's chest and giggled a bit. The expression on his face was priceless. Though upon seeing him throw a snowball back, she acted quickly and used her fin as a baseball bat. The action required her to use some of her upper body strength. With a small smile on her face, she grabbed another snow ball and threw it at him.

"Funny but I'm not regretting anything!" The mermaid laughed as she hrew the snow ball at him. She prepared herself for another counter attack as she watched him with ocean blue eyes,

Cyan's eyes, origonally filled with the gleme of playful vengence, suddenly changed to surprise, as the snowball he'd thrown returned, fast as a baseball.

With a yelp, he bent over backwards, avoiding the projectile by only a few inches.
"Missed me!" Cyan called out, only to have the second one hit him square in the face.

With one hand, Cyan wiped the snow from his face. Bits of hair were clinging to his forehead and cheeks now, from where the ball had stuck them.

"Lucky shot," he told her, stooping down, and getting two snowballs, one in each hand.

Annalyn laughed a bit as she saw the snow hit him in the face when he had ducked the first one. Her ocean blue eyes watching as he picked up two more snowball. She did likewise as an idea came to mind, though she wouldn't put it into play just yet. With a smile she stuck her toungue back out at him and used her hands to mock him.

"Bleh!" She smiled.

Cyan grinned. "I'll get you this time," he assured her.

Standing up again, Cyan tossed one of the snow balls. It went high, coming down from above.
As it did, he tossed the other one, aiming for her stomach this time. With luck, she'd follow the first ball, as most did.

Annalyn laughed a bit as she looked up at the first ball that was coming. It was coming from above and she couldn't prevent it from hitting her. She lifted her arm abov her head as it came down and landed with a thud upon her. Blinking her ocean blue eyes, she looked toward the other snowball coming straight for her. The mermaid quickly moved ehr tail and swipped it against the snow. It brought up a wave of snow that acted as a barrier as well as an attack.

"Almost had me." She laughed.

Quickly, Cyan backpeddeled, trying to avoid the wave of snow coming his way.
Instead, he only suceeded in falling over into the deep snow.

"And it looks like you got me," he confessed, trying, without success, to get up from out of the deep snow.

Annalyn laughed victoriously as she heard his words. It was the first time she actually won a battle, well though it exactly wasn't. Though it was still a voctory to her none the less. She looked over to where Cyan was and laughed a bit more and lightly started to use her arms to move toward where he was. It looked as though he was having some trouble getting to his feet.

"Do you need help?" She called.

"No, no, I can get it," Cyan assured her. "Just give me a few moments there..."

With a grunt, Cyan heaved himself up into a sitting position, his robes clinging to his body in places.

"Got me good," he said, grinning. "Ah well...it was fun!"
He looked over to her, surprised she had pulled herself so far out of the water. "You must have strong arms, to get yourself up here...Can you change? I mean, can you give yourself legs, if you wanted to?"

She stopped where she was and smiled a bit. The mermaid was glad that he was alright. Though it was still funny to see him fall that way. She lifted her right hand up to cover her mouth to stop herself from laughing again. Upon hearing his comment, she grinned lightly.

"Of coarse, they're not just for looks." Annalyn said with a smile. Though her tail had more muscle than her arms did. Hearing his question she thought about it for a bit. She wasn't quite for sure of she should tell him. He had done nothing so far to make her not trust him. "I can but my body tempature would change and I would feel the cold."

"Well, screw that then" Cyan said, coming into a crouched position. "I'm glad I can't feel the cold. There's no way in Hell I'd change, just to appease my curiosity. Farr better to stay nice and warm, yes?"

He grinned. No doubt he'ddo the same.

"I was just curious, didn't know if you could or not. If you say you can, I'll take your word on it. How strong is your tail?" he asked her. He seemed very curious about the differences between her and land walkers. "No doubt you can swim faster than any two-legger."

Annalyn smiled as she listned to him.

"I'm not quite sur how strong my tail is but I am sure I can swim faster than any land walker." Annalyn siad with a smile as she stared at him and leaned back a bit. Her shoulders relaxing a bit. yes, it was nice but she wasn't quite sure about the warm part. She didn't feel warmth in this state. She felt content and okay but she didn't feel warmth. "My tail is probably strong enough to break wood or something."

She wasn't quite sure hwo strong her tail was.

"Works for me" Cyan said. "It would be interesting, to see just how strong...but I ramble, don't I?"
He grinned, shaking his head. "Of course I do! I'm sorry, I've probably been probing a bit too deep, haven't I? It's just...I'm so curious! I've never heard of a time, when land dwellers have actually met with people of the sea...Imagine everything we could learn from you and your people...It boggles my mind..."

Annalyn watched Cyan and laughed lightly listening as he spoke. He reminded her of a very curious merchild who was curious about the world above the water. Curious on what might be on the land and what kind of creature it was. A small laugh could be heard from her as she leaned back using her arms to support her upper body. A few locks of hair falling over her shoulders and back.

"Is there anything else you would like to know?" Annalyn asked with a smile.

"Well...everything would be a nice start," he told her. "But...I think that would take a long time.
He leaned back, using his hands to balance himself. "What is it like, down there? Do you have cities, or do you just...roam? It must be like flying...Able to move in three dimensions, instead of trapped on one."

Annalyn smiled as she listened to his question. They were very good questions and she would be able to answer them accurately.

"We have cities, though some bigger than others. I guess you could compare our homes like a castle with other castles connected to it. Though most of it is made from coral and stone. There are kings, queens, princes, and princesses that make up our form of government." Annalyn spoke with a smile as she stared at the very curious Cyan. Though, she wouldn't tell him her exact status in her home unless he asked for it.

"Marvelous," Cyan murmered, taking it all in, like a thirsting man takes in water.
"Are you all...well off? From the way you make it sound, most of your people live well..Is there much crime, war, problems like those we have here?"

He was looking intently to her now, his eyes on her, waiting for her to respond to his questions.

"We are quite...well off, as you put it. The biggest problem we ever had was when you lander walkers created that cursed submarine. You couldn't imagine the trouble we went through to cover our home from its sights," She groaned with fustration as she remembered that day vry well. It was horible. The mermaid closed one eyes in a thinking gesture. "I was about in my hundreds then...I think."

She lightly rubbed her chin.

"We also held festivals. Those were really fun. Especially, whe the seat turtles moved through the water current to their next destination. Oh the wales! Truly spectacular creatures! Have you ever heard them sing to one another. My people were able to, it was quite fun." She said laughing lightly, the memories seemed so fresh.

Cyan frowned. Submarines? "Seems that we're far more curious about the sea, than your people are of the land."

At the next part, he grinned. He was surprised at how enthusiastic she was in retelling about the festivals. She must really have loved going to them.

"I must say," he told her, "I've never heard a whale sing. I lived too far inland...never had vacations to the ocean, you know? I'll bet it must have been something, though," he confessed.

"You said you were in your...hundreds?" he asked her, frowning again. "How old are you? How old do your people live to?"

Annalyn smiled and chuckled a bit as she watched Cyan. Her index finger twisting a strand of ice blue hair while she listened to him. She thought it was a bit sad that he hadn't been able to visit the ocean. It was a really beatiful place, even if you were seeing from the surface rather than from beneath it. The mermaid nodded her head from here to there to show she was listening to him. Upon asking about her age, she placed a hand upon her heart as if she were truly shocked by his request.

"Why Cyan, you really shouldn't ask for a lady's age!" She said before she laughed lightly. Annalyn really didn't mind the question, no one had ever asked about how old she was. The memaid lightly tapped the base of her chin before speaking. " I'm about 750yrs old but I guess I would be considered still a kid among my people. My grand father was 1,000,000yrs old."

She thought that was about accurate.

Cyan grinned, quirking his head to the side. "I know, I know," he rumbled, "but...Curiosity killed the cat, I suppose...Good thing I'm no cat."

When she told him she was 750, and still young, his draw dropped. "Seven hundred and fifty?"

Cyan grinned. "I know, I know," he rumbled. "It's just...I'm so curious! A whole nother world in the ocean. It's well and good I'm not a cat."

When she told him her age, his jaw dropped. 750, and still young!

"Seven hundred and fifty?" he repeated, awed. "And you're still very young, as young as I am, by human standards..."
He got chills just thinking about it. "Imagine," he murmered, "Seven hundred and fifty years of knowledge...To know what it was like, duriong the reign of the Romans, to have seen the Crusades...Mabey spoken to King Richard himself!"

At last, he sighed. "There is far too much knowledge in the world for any human to attain in his life...But, if I were one of your people...I would have millenia to learn..."

Annalyn watched her friend's expression upon telling him her true age rather than the one that she appeared. Even at seven hundred and fifty years, the mermaid wasn't as fully as developed as her parents. If she were, her tail would be a bit more longer and different shades of blue. Yep, give her another decade or two and she'll be a bit more developed than she was now.

As she listened to him speak, she brought a few locks of her hair over shoulders and started to comb her fingers through it. Even though it was wet, her fingers brushed through it with ease, not a tangle in sight. Without light, you couldn't really see the webbing she had between her fingers at the bottom. It was hardly noticable since she didn't make the webbing bigger, after all, she wasn't swimming or anything.

"That you would...You seem pretty facinated by all this. If you were one of my people, what would you have done during your exstended life time?" The mermaid questioned as she continued to brush her fingers throuhg her hair.

"That's a very interesting question," Cyan murmered, examinign her tail again, just for a moment. "I would see the whole world, above and below. With so much time, I could do it. I'd learn anything there was to learn about any race. Imagine, everything about any race chronicled. Merfolk, human, elf, and all the ones we've never seen before! Just think, if you wanted to know about something that had happened, long ago, you could look it up, and there it would be!"

He grinned broadly. "There are so many things we don't know about, as humans. Imagine what we could learn from your parents, or your grandparents, who were alive when the romans ruled half of the known world. They could very well have seen the armies of the crusades marching on Jerusalem. Such history, lost."

He sighed, then shrugged. "Then, I doubt your people have much interest in the land world, would they? About as much interest as most of us have with the ocean...Say why are you here, though? I didn't expect to see a mermaid to come to the school."

Annalyn smiled as she listened to him and nodded her head in agreement. His his thoughts and ideas were quite refreshing. He seemed really inthusiastic about her people and the history to go along with it. Though, her people weren't very intersted in what lay on the land. It was to chaotic and far to dangerous for thei taste. Yep, her people where peaceful folk who really didn't believe in violence. The most damage they could do was summon a tsunami and drown their kind. Or at least try.

"I guess you're right. Though there were some of us who wre curious about land. Only a few were aloud to look and study what they could about land walkers. Even I found some of the reports quite intersting," Annalyn said with a smile as she chuckled a bit. Upon hearing his next question, she frowned and shook her head from left to right. "That I cannot tell you."

Cyan nodded. "I guess I can understand that, then," he murmered. "It's well and good that your people aren't interested up here, though. Imaging all the trouble we'd go through, trying to find out what each other is like."

He grinned. "I can just picture, a bunch of people like me, runni9ng around, asking a million questions. Pandemonium."
He studied her for a few moments.
"Only a few people, hm?" he asked. "What do you think, so far?"

Annalyn watched him and smiled lightly, tapping the base of her chin. A grin coming over lips as a small laugh escaped her lips.

"I think you land walkers are a wierd lot. One of the reports I recived informed me of some of your odd...rituals. Dancing around nude under the moon saying Neptune knows what," Annalyn said laughing lightly, her shoulders shaking lightly with the action. "Also, what time was it when you burned your kind for being...uh..what's the word....oh! A witch. That's it."

The mermaid commented as she brushed a strand of hair out of her face.

"Nude under the moon?" Cyan murmered. "That would have been hundreds and hundreds of years ago, Annalyn. I've never heard of people doing anything like that..."

Her next question really stunned him.

"Burned people for witches? My, Annalyn, your people are behind the times. The last time anything serious happened, was in Americe, during the Salem witch trials. Some twenty people, in one city, died under the accusation of being witches...Other than that, the last witch hunts were in the 1500's."

Annalyn listned to him and smiled. Okay, so what if her people had been a little old in their knowledge. That still didn't change how odd these land walkers were. Though, Annalyn herself was up to date with technology and whanot. She had only referred to the old times in order to prove her comment.

"I am aware of that. I know what's been happening through these years, I need but watch and learn. Though, I do applaud your people for surviving their countless wars. I thought they would die from fighting so much." Annalyn said matter-of-factly as she stared at Cyan. It was quite true. While she had lived under the ocean, a few of the council members had made bets on how many years would go by before their instinction came.

"I'm just as surprised as you are. About fourty years ago, we came really close to a nuclear was, Annalyn. Humans have enough nuclear weapons, to blow all life off the planet..>Scary, isn't it? You could be dead in an instant, and not even know why or what killed you. I don't put high stock into us making it through another thousand years. You can tell that to your eldgers. Cyan Montag, expects humanity to die out in five hundred years."

He grinned.

"Now, the question is, what happens if I'm right? I won't be around to get the reward."

Annalyn smiled as she listened to Cyan. A small sad smile coming to her face as she quickly shook it away. It was just to bad the elders weren't there to take the bet. There were still some scatter throughout the different oceans but she was still too scare of the submarines. They had missles and small mines that were shaped like balls with spikes on him. Sort of like a mace. Those were scary things indeed, She hoped to never encounter one.

"I'm sure you'll have a reincarnation that'll take it." Annalyn said with a small laugh as her shoulders shook lightly.

"You believe in that stuff?" he asked her, raising a brow. "I never really knew weather or not to believe in that. I'd like to think that there's a better place up there, but we come back here after a while...Like going on vacation, you know? Sooner or later, you've got to come back, like you've run out of money, or reward time, or something...Here's the big question, though. How'll they know it's me?"

The mermaid nodded her head as she fold her hands in her lap. A few strands of her hair falling over her shoulders. Her ocean blue eyes looking up tot he sky when he mentioned going to a better place up there. A small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth a she chuckled lightly.

"Of coarse I believe in it," Annalyn spoke with a small smile as she watched him. Hearing his question, she gave her shoulders a small shrug. She wasn't quite sure how to explain her answer to him. So with a small sigh, she told him as much as she was able to explain. "We'll know. It's like recognizing the sound of one's voice or face. We just know."

Her tail lightly moved against the snow.

Cyan grinned slightly. "I suppose so," he murmered, "though I wish I could be as assured about my faith as you are, Annalyn."
He sighed quietly, his eyes seeming far away.
"There was a time when I was....I was confident in my abilities, and in the ways of my people...When I came here, though, I was so shaken by what I've seen. I was born in a place where we fought, Annalyn, and our ways were those of war. Mighty warriors were, if not common place, then accepted. Here, though, is peace, and warriors of renown have no place in it. Most of those here are soldiers, Annalyn, ready to fight for a war that will not come. What will happen to them, to me? We have powers and skills, and nobody to use them against.

The mermaid listened to his words and smiled softly. She had this small deja`vu feeling, like she had heard these words before but by a different person. The words coming out of her mouth, flowing smootly as if she had said it a thousand times before.

"You are not the first Cyan, to feel this way. You are not the first to ask such a question. Why bottle up your skill to fight? You could always teach those that are weak to defend themselves, like me. I can't kill a fly worth my life. I could not protect myself when another attacked." Annalyn gestured toward the scar on her side. The wound had been done by one of the students here while she was in the hot springs.

"That is just the thing, Annalyn. You are, more or less, a civilian, so to say...You don't know how to fight, in the real sense. You don't feel the need to prove your mettle, to use your skills. What's the point of being here, and learning all of my gifts, if I am not meant to use them? I don't know if you know it, but the world dosen't really like our kind...Metahumans, I mean. They wouldn't accept us into the conventional army, even though we could help. Sometimes, though, I think it's for the best...We've had students here, who's powers could destroy the world...Just imagine what would happen if they decided to use those powers when they were fighting the enemy...We don't have a place in the world these days..."

Well, he brought up a very good point. She shook her head lightly and tapped the base of her chin lightly, leaning back into the pillows of snow behind her. Almost forming some sort of couch behind her. Her mind sponging up the situation and his words as she closed her eyes for a few moments. After a few seconds or so, she opened them back up and stared at him. Almost as if she were measuring him with her eyes.

"True, metahumans are not really welcomed. Myths like myself included and other 'fairy tale' creatures," She laughed softly before speaking again. Brushing a few strands of hair out of her face. "Well, we're in quite the pickle, aren't we? Though there are a few that will accept us. Not all sea shells all the same, right? I believe, sooner or later, they will accept us and understand that we cannot control what we are."

"One cannot choose how or where they are born. Yes, I'm sure there will be a day when metahumans are needed. And I'm pretty sure we will not aid them. The earth is struggling enough as it is. To damage it more with our gifts would be pretty cruel. It's our duty to help it survive, not to kill it...Oh my...I'm getting off subject."

The mermaid said with a small nervous laugh and lightly rubbed her cheek.

"Hardly off topic," Cyan told her, settling down onto his haunches nearby. "I would think you are right. There will be a time when the world will need our kind, and I'm not too sure there will be many who'll want to help."
He sighed slightly. "I'm not too sure about myself though. Even though I've been here for the last two or three years, Germany is still home to me...or used to be...I don't know."
Cyan shook his head, before continuing.

"I mean, I've traveled all around the world. I've been to Europe, Africa, Asia, even Antarctica. But...none of them has really ever fealt like home. Back in Germany, there used to be a town of people with powers like mine. Now, though, they exist no longer. I don't really have any place to go back to, once I graduate."

The mermaid blinked a few times as she listened to the boy and couldn't help but feel sad. She could relate to his sorrow, she really didn't need to put herself in his shoes, she already had them. In a sense at least. Annalyn moved her tail aganist the ground for a few moments before it stopped. Sitting htere in silence, she contemplated on what she could say to him, something that would comfort him or at least give him a little cheer.

"Maybe you will be a traveler. The world is simply your home, no place to anchor you down. Maybe you will have to meet a certain person that will tie you down and make you feel at home. Though I am not for and do not know what else to tell you my dear land walker, Cyan." Annalyn said with a small smile.

Cyan shrugged. "Travelling has always been my forte," Cyan confessed, nodding. "Ah well, naught to be done about it, is there?" he asked her, quirking a brow at her. "I've still got a lot of world to check out, and old a few decades to do it in, I suppose. Again, I find myself wishing for the long years you possess, Annalyn. With hundreds of years, I could explore every niche in this world. I could venture to the deepest canyons, and climb to the earth's highest peaks."
He sighed.
"Still, I suppose I can do that with the time we humans get. What do you do with your long years, Annalyn? I mean, being able to live for centuries...is it nesecarry?"
