(It was actually a day or two later that she finally contacted him. One would think that simply selecting a spot to train - in lieu of a proper kitsune dimension - would not be very difficult, but this is not true, especially if you're name is Rish Govani. Take into account the inquisitive ways of this fox spirit. She would not select any place that was too confined to train in, yet many open places were out of the question. First of all, the mountain was not only ruled by Jake Mulcahy, in a way, but it was also a part of that wolf's territory... "The wolf", as Rish called him, was Ray Erastor Devorak, a graduate from the high school who now ruled a giant clan of wolves in the wilderness outside the school. He and Rish had some disagreements in the past, the likes of which she did not always prefer to share. Regardless, she didn't want to see him during these sessions. Also, the city itself was out of the question for the mere fact of that it was far too dangerous for HER at times! When there's a necromancer wandering around who knows how to kill kitsunes, you know it's a bad idea to be training a lesser-skilled apprentice. Rish decided to keep iit near the school. Nay, in the school, in fact. She could just see it now... The aspect, which was basically a clone of herself formed from her own energy, would track Davis down and gesture for him to follow. Intrigued, he would follow it here, to an empty auditorium and a patiently-waiting well-armed gray ninja.)

A few days had passed since he had his encounter with Rish and Jake, he had been resting most of the time, the injuries he had taken during his spar with Jake had been a bit worse then he origionally thought. By the second day he was pretty much back to normal, and had even considered starting his self-training up again at some point during the day. For the time being however he was perfectly content with making himself a little bit of lunch. He had been fully dressed for training from sunrise both this and the day before, just incase the aspect that Rish said she would be sending had decided to show up. About halfway through the mac and cheese that he had made himself, it seemed that his wish had finally come true. There, standing in the doorway to his dorm was Rish, or at least something that looked like her, he could tell that whatever was there, wasnt real.

It never spoke to him, just simply gestured for him to follow it, and so he did. After tossing aside his half-eaten bowl of food he would reach to his dresser to grab Requiem, Absolution, and his black bag. Tossing the bag over his shoulder and placing his weapons in their proper positions he would begin on his way behind the aspect. As they entered they reached their destination after a short walk he would enter the auditorium and look around for Rish.

Finally spotting the grey ninja he would smile in her direction and sort of bow a little bit, his way of saying hello to friends.

"Its good to see you again, I was begining to think that you'd forgotten about me."

OOC:  Nice sig.

IC>>>>>

(She waited patiently for him to arrive with her double. Rish was sitting at the auditorium stage when Davis came in, her arms and head resting on one knee that was up while the other hung down over the edge. She was not wearing a ninja's mask. She was merely in the attire that she fought out of most commonly. Rish's clothing were really just a part of her human form. They could form to appear more casual and it wouldn't make any difference overall. Her human state wasn't the truth behind appearances anyway.)

"Its good to see you again, I was beginning to think that you'd forgotten about me."

(Not moving yet, Rish smiled in her own sly and clever way.)

Rish: I never forget things. I merely put them aside until it's convenient. Besides, you needed the time to rest. I know how you humans don't commonly repair yourselves so easily.

(She was saying that in reference to, say, any sort of being who could heal faster than the norm. That included herself, naturally. Rish waited for her aspect to come closer to her before holding out a hand and making the aspect change into raw spirit energy before compressing into a ball and entering the kitsune's hand.)

Rish: An aspect is really just a weak clone, only slightly more useful than an illusion in some cases, as they can be made to think. Mine are, however, still formidable on a human scale, but only due to my training. Let's begin.

(She hopped down from where she was sitting, approaching Davis casually, step by step. There was a katana straped to her back, like before, and two wakizashi swords in sheeths attached to her elbow areas. They could be very quickly drawn this way. Rish also apparently had a hip-pouch strapped to her waist. Its contents were unknown, but one could easily count on small weaponry there.)

Rish: You wish to learn higher swordsmanship, and that is good, but I think in your case, you should be made aware of something. It is the difference between a samurai and a ninja. In the Feudal wars of this country, the samurai were great and skilled, but they had great competition from those who were highly resourceful. The ninja were never a true clan of any sort. They were common folk who took it upon themselves to use whatever weaponry they could find and protect their land and people. Without a sword, are you any good at fighting, Davis? Can you pick up a device you're not use to and defend yourself that well? When I'm through with you, you certainly will. Now...attack me.

Davis would find himself just standing there for a second, taking in everything that Rish had just said. It looked like there was going to be a lot of hard training ahead of him, there was apparently a lot more that he didn't know then he thought. But it didn't matter, since being sent away from home he had set himself to becoming a better warrior, this was just another step in the process.

Now...attack me.

Well, it looks like she wasnt wasting any time with beginning his training. He didn't have any choice but to do as she said, she was his new master after all. Letting out a slight laugh he would remove his bag and toss it to the side, picking up Absolution he would tie the sheath to his waist. Reaching to the opposite side he would unsheath his short sword Requiem and raise the blade to his waist.

'Well, theres no use in stalling any longer... here goes nothing.' As these words would flow through his mind he would find himself pushing hard against the ground and breaking into a sprint towards Rish. He needed to decide quickly how he was going to start this off. At first he thought of using the same technique he had used against Jake on the mountian, but she would be able to recognise it easily.

He was out of time, he had reached his attack area, he would have to just wing it at this point. Planting his right foot into the ground he would hold Requiem out with his right hand as he would spin himself around. At the end of his first rotation he would spin the weapon above his head before executing a diagonal slash from the upper right to lower left. Next he would reverse that attack, pulling out of it as the blade would reach his chest level. To finish off the combo he would lunge forwards with a quick jab strike.

(Something had come over Rish as she spoke to Davis about the training and the backstory of ninjas and all that. She had become several degrees more serious than before, largely due to the fact that her friendlier attitude could always be put aside for battle. WHen she spoke of the Feudal times, she spoke from memory, because she was old enough to remember those times, and the battles that she took a part in. Rish was more than 350 years old, a kitsune far more experienced than, say, Sakura Nova, for instance. Now, as Davis made his attack, RIsh's moves were quick and precise. She ducked back and away from the spin-attack he did, judging the distance so as to know how far to move. His diagonal slashes were deflected aside as she pulled out one wakizashi, then another. In other words, a medium-blade-based sword-drawing style had prevented personal harm. Then, when he jabbed, Rish moved and swung her blades into the oncoming Requiem. This would move it to her right while she turned and planted a kick at his hip, which was his right on her left.)

Rish: Never doubt that your opponent will use his body as a weapon and his sword as a tool to bring you into the open for attack.

By the time he knew what was going on it was too late, she had already moved him and lined up for her kick. All he could do was brace himself, which he hardly had any time to do. As her foot would make contact with his hip he would find himself stumbling sideways a few feet, trying his hardest not to fall on his face. Barely able to maintain his balance he would straighten himself out and turn to face her once again, Requiem held tightly infront of him.

"I see, so I should try to use my body as a weapon as well? Ive always just focused on using Requiem or Absolution. Interesting..."

He waited for a moment before approaching her again, this time he walked to her slowly, waiting incase she attacked him before before he went. For a second he would Psyche himself up before stepping forward with his right foot. Letting out a deep breath he would send the sword into his signature flurry of attacks, each performed one after the other with extreme speed. First horizontal from right to left, then the opposite way, a quick adjustment of his hands would bring the blade above his head in a vertical drop strike which would quickly be transformed into a rising vertical strike. Next would be two diagonal strikes forming an X through the cross he had just created first from top right to bottom left then bottom right to top right. The ending to this combo would be the same as the ending strike of his first attack, a clean and quick jab through the center of all his previous attacks.

He knew that she had seen him use this attack before, but it was the only thing that came to his mind at the moment.

"I see, so I should try to use my body as a weapon as well? Ive always just focused on using Requiem or Absolution. Interesting..."

Rish: Do this...no longer.

(He was learning, or at least she hoped he was learning. Maybe he would find a way through her talented self and derive a real and palpable hit soon, but that would only happen if he broke free from himself. For instance, this signature strike of his. A clever way to fight, memorizing a complex pattern of movements. But the inherent problem with that is the obvious fact that anyone who can see it as a pattern and memorize it themselves can make a counter-move. Rish had trained herself in the dual-sword combat, using the two versatile wakizashis, and was formidable for her use of them alone. Now then, Rish's blades scraped against the horizontal slashes and then caught the over and under attacksby way of forming an X with her two swords and catching Requiem in that. Finally, she deflected the X-pattern attacks as before and did something different. Instead of trying to push the jab aside like last time, Rish ducked and performed a sweep kick to throw Davis off of his feet.)

Rish: You're not making me think, Davis. I'm only reacting and retaliating. If you rely on techniques alone, you won't even com close to hitting me.

Davis would let out a groan as he was sent to the ground by Rish's sweeping kick, he hadn't seen it coming at all. Deciding it would look bad for him to lay on the ground he would quickly roll himself backwards and spring to his feet, holding Requiem at his side. She was right, if all he did was rely on using techniques anybody that he fought more then once... no, for more then about twenty minuites would memorize all of his attacks and then there would be nothing new for him to do. None of this was anything that his father had ever bothered to mention while he was still in his training at home and because of that he didn't practice it on his own now while he was at school.

"Hmmm... I see.. The way I was taught back home by my father was to come up with all sorts of special techniques and just use them over and over again in battle. He said that if I could beat people fast enough then I wouldnt ever have to worry about variety. And it worked until I came here I guess, I was the best back home, then again, nobody back home had ever heard of Kitsune's either, well, except in myths and such. Hah. Guess ive got a lot to learn eh'?"

He didn't have any plans of giving up on this anytime soon, he was determined to get better without the use of his soul charges. A third time he would move towards Rish for an attack, slow at first, eventually picking up to an attack speed. As he would approach her he would swing Requiem horizontally from right to left, stopping his own attack about a foot from Rish and quickly reversing it from a left to right swing. Quickly he would toss the sword into his left hand, raising it across his body to begin a diagonal swing from upper right to lower left. As soon as the blade would reach the center of his body he would throw the right elbow at her so that it would follow directly after the sword strike.

He had never had any proper training with fighting with his body, only with other weapons so what he tried next was completely unrefined. Raising his right leg he would make an attempt to kick her, shifting directly onto his right leg after the attack he would try a kick with his other leg. Finally after throwing a right handed punch he would try to hit her with the hilt of his sword.

Rish: It's never quite so simple, Davis. A battle works on many levels. Trust me. I know from experience.

(She noticed an immediate change in Davis' fighting style as soon as he attacked again. Yes, something was different. Rish ducked the first slice and parried the second, then saw him switch his hold on the sword. Well now... His diagonal was meet with a sudden spin of her body to have her left wakizashi knock that off, but when she was planning on making a backhanded sword-attack with the other one, Rish saw an elbow coming. Instead of swinging, Rish had to change to meet elbow with elbow, a block. Her right leg hunched up to meet his right leg sideways, and then she backhanded the otherone away with an arm before kicking up at the sword-holding hand that tried to punch her. Rish definitely had style and experience, but you had to notice... This last action took a little more effort. Lowering her weapons for a moment. She said...)

Rish: Better.

(THEN, she launched into some attacks of her own! Both wakizashis came in a semi-diagonal left-to-right motion, followed by a kick that would flow after the sword-deflecting strike she just performed. Then, she pulled back maybe an inch and advanced with one sword slicing straight down and one going across. She could be very vicious when the time comes.)

He almost wasnt expecting it as she launched herself at him, he had been convinced by himself that he would be the one continuously attacking. He would quickly raise Requiem to the two wakizashis as they came at him, deflecting the two blades away from himself. As he noticed her kick coming at him he would quickly try to lower his right arm to attempt to block the kick. Alas he moved too slowly and her leg would come into contact with him. Letting out a slight yelp of pain he would shake it off and return his focus to her oncoming attacks, he would not allow himself to be taken off gurard again. Watching her pull back before her attacks he would spin Requiem quickly in his hand and swing it as quickly as he could in an upward diagonal motion to intersect with the two wakizashis as they would cross eachother in the cross-like pattern they had been swung in.

Breaking away from her Davis would throw himself back a few feet to prepare for what would happen next. He wasnt sure if she would come right after him or if he would have time to make his own move. Insted of stopping to talk to her like had found himself doing inbetween each other attack period he would skip that portion and just thow himself at her again. Tossing Requiem into his left hand he would lower his body slightly and send his right hand into an uppercut punch quickly tightening his elbow and sending it back at her before spining himself again and slashing horizontally with Requiem. Raising Requiem above his head, Davis would bring the weapon down towards Rish with both hands in a power swing. Releasing with his right hand he would swing the blade diagonally from lower right to left. During this motion his right hand would fall to his right hip and unsheath Absolution as well. To finish his attack he would swing the small hatchet at Rish's stomach.

(By the time he had freed his right hand, Rish was already twisting her body back to avoid the strike, which she did, and the elbowing as well with a genuine crouch. This turned out to be a very fortunate choice of moves, as the slash of Requiem also went overhead and she was able to use her wakizashis to catch the downward swing of the blade in an X-formation. Rish was seen to be smiling the whole time. He was learning, and learning quickly. Straightening a little, his next slash rose sparks galore as it scraped against her swords, but then a motion caught Rish by surprise. She'd forgotten about the hatchet. Assumption was clearly both of their downfall this time, but Rish did not allow this to deter her. Suddenly, Davis would find Rish leaping left, very quickly, landing some seven feet away. He had mi- No... There was a graze. It was small and disappearing right before his eyes, but it was certainly there.)

Rish: Now, you're starting to think like the way a warrior does. You're really fighting, and not just dueling. What I've taught you so far will keep trickier humans off your back, because now you are more than just a sword or a hatchet.

(Rish's eyes gleamed somewhat. You could tell that she was up to something. She wasn't using any real strength just then. Merely skill and human-normal strength. Now, it looked like she might use her strength and her speed. Her mischievous smile said that this fight was about to get interesting. She twirled one of her wakizashi blades in her hand, catching it quickly. Her voice was now somewhat teasing...)

Rish: So, what do you say? Are you ready for a real fight? I've been looking forward to one from you.

A smile could be seen crossing his face as he noticed the mark that he had left on Rish, to be able to hit someone who was THAT much better then him was a major accomplishment. Resheathing Absolution he would place Requiem on his right shoulder, he was taking this oppertunity as she spoke to rest himself a little bit. He was sure that there was more to come, they hadn't been there long enough to already be finished. It was then that he noticed the look in her eyes, his smile would widen, this meant that things were about to get a lot more interesting. As she spoke he knew for sure what was going on, she had obviously been holding back. Hopefully now he would get a real chance to show her what he had already learned.

Rish: So, what do you say? Are you ready for a real fight? I've been looking forward to one from you.

As he responded to her he would remove the blade from his shoulder, his eyes closing as he did so, he was starting to concentrate himself. Starting to force a portion of his soul into Requiem.

"I was hoping that this would happen sooner or later. Of course I'm ready, I too have been hoping to fight you."

As he finished speaking skin toned lids would slide open revealing firey spheres. A bright red aura would surround Requiem causing to to undergo the same transformation that it had gone through during the battle with Jake a few days earlier. He now held in his right hand a massive sword, red runes shone brigtly up the blade as whisps of fire could be seen appearing then vanishing about it. Although its size had increased greatly the weight of the blade stayed the same to him, he could wield it with the same speed and ease as the short sword he once held. Raising it above his head and spinning it once he would slam the blade into the ground at his feet.

"Alright Rish, I'm ready whenever you are... Lets get it on!"

"Alright Rish, I'm ready whenever you are... Lets get it on!"

Rish: Good.

(Now here was a bit of a funny part about wielding swords the way that she was. It was actually quite complex to wield a pair of equally-sized blades like that. Usually, a warrior favors one over the other, right or left, and holds a defensive weapon in the lesser of the two hands. Rish was not this way, however. So then, as Davis prepared for her first attack, the first thing he would notice was her apparent calm...as her spiritual energy began forming around the wakizashis. She dipped one down, and then zipped it forward quickly, like a underhand slash maneuver. This sent a projected spirit energy blade towards Davis, merely to occupy him. For Rish's next move was to leap on by his right with a blade sticking out to strike his hip as she passed, then a sudden stop behind him as she whipped both blades around and slashed both wakizashis at him diagonally TWICE, right before executing a good seven stabbing motions one after the other at his torso. She was true to her past life in Japan's old history. She was a definite killer!)

He was ready for her as she sent the energy wave hurtling towards him, he wasnt sure exactly how to handle it. He hoped that the soul energy within Requiem would be enough to hold off the attack as he noticed that he would have to act quickly, she was rappidly approaching his right side, one of her wakazashis ready for impact. Quickly shifting Requiem so that it would absorb the impact of the energy wave as best it could, he was still knocked sligtly off balance he did all he could to spin the blade and deflect the wakizashi strike at his hip. Barely managing to deflect it he found himself completely devoid of any blacance and started to fall to the ground. Luckily enough this brought him below her two slashes. As she moved into her seven stabs he would attempt to regain himself and sweep out her legs before using Requiem to vault himself to his feet.

Gaining a moment of peace it was his turn to strike at her, running to her left side he would stop abruptly and make a slash from right to left before turning the blade on its side and making a sweeping attack with the blunt edge at her feet. Behind each attack lagged a trail of flame, the intensity of which seemed to increase with each strike he made. Hoping that she would be distracted by the fire dancing about them he would make an attempt at a punch with his left hand, it was aimed for her stomach. This strike would be followed closely by a punch with his right hand, which still held the gigantic blade until the final second when it would be tossed to his left hand. To finish his set he would once again strike with Requiem, only this time in a looped pattern the attack would come from his left hand, leading from his left hip up diagonally to his right shoulder before looping above his head and following the opposite path down from left shoulder to right hip.

(The best way to take being put at a disadvantage is to turn it into an advantage. That being said, Rish took the sweep and backflipped to land in a crouch. It annoyed her slightly that the timing of her attacks had made it easier to avoid some of her own, but that was life on the battlefield. These things happened. Besides, her being in a crouch made the next part easier. He was swiping Requiem for the legs and all Rish had to do was stab a wakizashi down, charging it with spirit energy, to block the flaming blade. Fire and spirit aura collided and spread out, but neither one of them was harmed by it. She was not distracted and saw the punch coming. In fact, she heard it. Davis would find that his fist made a sort of Ting! sound when striking the flat of Rish's other sword. As for the punchy right-hand with the quick switch of the sword, she hadn't figured on the last minute switch, using her blade to force away Requiem. Davis struck Rish's left hip with that. It was an ordinary punch, but he'd managed to do that to her, regardless. Rish wasn't unfallible. If she were, then she'd have been a nine-tail by now. Then, as Davis went into his loop attack thing, Rish went for the gusto, so to speak. Her wakizashis full of energy, she slammed them both up into Requiem with a double rising-slash maneuver, then sent out a piercing kick at Davis' stomach. The kick was not an ordinary attack. It was a force-wave assault, like being kicked in the head by a mule or being hit with a battering ram.)

He saw it coming like slow motion as soon as he felt Requiem being forced from his hands by Rish's wakizashis. He knew that this fight was most likely about to end, as he heard Requiem clang against the floor behind him, feeling the soul energy return to him as it reverted to its origional form he was struck with her foot. He tried to make a sound, he wanted to yell out in pain, but that was impossible. She had knocked the wind out of him, he could hardly breath as he felt himself slam against the ground. It was over, there was no way the fragile boy could bring himself out of this one.

With all his might he would find himself gasping for some air, trying to grab for Requiem and stand himself upright. He found himself without luck and falling to the ground as soon as he made it halfway to his standing position. At this point he was using all his energy just to remain consious.

'I think....... you win....'

Thats all he could manage to get out before pale lids would slide shut and he found himself unconsious in the middle of the auditorium. He had been defeated again.

(Huh... She'd gotten him good that time. Looks like he needed to develop himself more, power-wise. Resisting her powers, her abilities... That was something that required more "oomph". What Davis would have to work on next was his endurance, or maybe the development of more energy. Maybe make him quicker? That was a judgement call, really, and it wasn't hers to make. Or was it? Heh heh heh... Despite the fact that she had pummelled her pupil across the room, Rish had a smile on her face, sly and mischievous. She put her wakizashis into the sheaths and walked over to the still-unconscious Davis. About halfway there, she had crouched down and then changed her body into the three-tailed greyfox form that was her truest state. The transition looked like her becoming fog and then a fox in a fluid motion. She stopped beside him, looking the boy over. He didn't look seriously hurt. Merely out cold. The greyfox seemed to be smiling still.)

Rish: Heh heh heh heh... We have a ways to go yet, my pupil. But you'll thank me for what I'm doing to you, I think. Yes. It will extremely satisfying.

(When Davis awoke, he might be rather surprised to see that Rish was now taking a nap beside him in her natural form. She idly wondered if he'd recognize her in this form, but then she idly did not care either. He wasn't going to hurt her on the mere basis of being a fox, now...)

It took a few moments for him to come back to consiousness, he hadn't been knocked out too bad, but he knew it was going to be sore for a bit. Pushing himself into an upright sitting postions he would look around him, wondering if Rish had just left him all by himself after kicking him.. how long had he been out? It was then that he would notice the three-tailed grey fox laying beside him. Instantly he realized who it was and let out a slight laugh, it was a good thing that Rish had told him that she was a Kitsune, otherwise he may have been just a little bit wierded out by this.

He realized that she, like he had been only a moment before was out cold, except for an entirely different reason. She had fallen asleep beside him it looked like, probably to make sure nobody came around to mess with his body. Removing his right hand from where it had been supporting him against the gound he would gently place it on Rish's head and run it along her back a few times before finally deciding to relax. Placing his arms behind his head he would find himself laying back where he had been before. It looked like he would have a little time to relax, its not like he would just leave a sleeping Rish here all by herself.

"At least this will give me a little down time."

He would begin to whistle something softly to himself as his eyes slowly slid shut, he had no intention of falling asleep, and therefore would not do so as he layed there.

(Despite not being able to consciously appreciate the physical contact Davis was giving her, Rish stretched out relaxingly as he did so as a reaction. It was a funny thing about Rish. She didn't like most people to get too close to her, on general principles. Those she spoke to and did things with were friends enough, but she had few that she allowed close to her. Davis would have no idea how fortunate he actually was. Given time, she might genuinely care about him as she would one of her own kind. Then, after a short while...)

Rish: I see you woke up earlier than I expected.

(The fox was now looking over at him, getting up and stretching in place.)

Rish: That's good, because we need to develop you in other areas now.

Rish: I see you woke up earlier than I expected.

He would find himself laughing at this, he decided that he would take this as a sort of a compliment. He really hadn't been down for all that long, he had a tendancy to be able to recover very quickly from anything. It had always been that way for as long as he could remember. He was never sure if it had anything to do with his powers or if he was just lucky, he didn't really care to know as long as it kept on happening.

"I'm tougher then you thought eh'? Hah, just lucky I guess."

Rish: That's good, because we need to develop you in other areas now.

He was curious when he said this, of course he was eager to learn everything he could from her, he just really wanted to know what it was that he would be studying.

"Really? So whats next teach?"

(His cockiness was amusing to hear, or was that what humans considered to be confidence? Hard to tell, sometimes. Still, she rather liked his attitude on the matter. Rish stood up on all-fours, still as a fox, then sat down. The mass of her kitsune body was around that of a human's. She sat down before him in an upright sort of way, her green eyes glaring, complimenting her current form. Those green eyes were unnatural in a human form, but they were the only thing she could not really cover up when taking a new form.)

"Really? So what's next, teach?"

("Teach". That's clever. Suddenly, she was like one of the staff here. How interesting...)

Rish: At this point, you either need more power or more strength and endurance. I knocked you out for a short time, but you can be sure that an opponent who fights you to the death will not hesitate in killing you during that moment of weakness. By knocking you out, I have done as much as killed you in hard combat.

(She fixed him with a glare that was more than serious as she said this. This was a word of experience talking. True, she had never been one who has fallen unconscious and been made helpless, but she has certainly done it to quite a few people in the past.)

Rish: Just what are your capabilities, Davis? I want to know them all. Show me, if you can. I can guess at the passives when you can't.

He had to think for a while about this one, he wasnt really sure what else he could show her. She had pretty much already seen everything that he could accomplish with a sword, there was also Absolution, but he couldnt fight with it to save his life. Looking around for a moment he would finally unsheath Absolution and begin his response to his teachers question.

"My capabilities? Well, youv'e pretty much already seen everything that there is to see Rish. My swordfighting is really as far as it goes, I mean, I can transform Absolution here into a halberd much like I transform Requiem into that gigantic blade. I dont know much about how to fight with either of them though, I never really took the time to try and figure anything out. I guess I always just prefered Requiem to a hatchet... hah. I could transform it for you if you wanted to, it would take a whole lot of energy though. Since I havn't done it all that much its a lot more difficult for me to transform Absolution then it is for Requiem. Sorry."

As he spoke he would begin to invoke some of the energy he would need for the transformation of Absolution. Sparks could be seen in his eyes as he stood there, he would await his teachers response in total silence.

(Rish nodded as he spoke. Yes, he was still a limited fighter, much as she had been way back when she was only 70 years old. Quite skilled, but not very powerful. In those days, she could only project her spirit energy through a medium, such as a sword or a knife. There was a smiliarity here in Davis' abilities. He let power flow through his weapons to change them into deadlier articles. But this boy needed to push his limits.)

Rish: I want you...to put in as much energy as you can muster. There must be more-capable abilities within you, probably waiting to be unleashed through training. Once you recognize higher levels, you can train to control those as you do the current ones. Thus, you gain more power and are more-easily capable of controlling and wielding your current levels.

OOC: Short because there's not much to say and I'm on the move. Impress me, fella.

She was absolutely right, it made perfect sense to him, if he was able to push himself more and gain more powers then he would be able to be stronger and possibly even control his current powers more efficiently. But what more could he do? It was an easy task now to pull out each of his elemental portions of his soul, so that wouldnt impress her, becides, she had already seen him do it two or three times. But maybe there was more... He knew that there was still a portion of his soul that had not been unleashed yet, something lingering within him. He was nowhere near strong enough to unleash that kind of energy, becides, he didn't have any weapons left to channel it through.

It was only a few moments later when it hit him, something new that he could try, something different. Right now he was able to pull each of his known elemental sould out individually.. But what if somehow he was able to pull both at once. Not enough to transform the weapons to their giant forms, theres no way he would be able to fight efficiently with a halberd and a sword as big as a young boy. However, if he was able to pull just enough to infuse the weapons with their elemental statuses he might be able to pull off something new, something that may even impress Rish. Well, there was no other way to know then to just go for it, and thats just what he would do.

Unsheathing both of his weapons he would take a few steps away from Rish, he wasn't sure exactly what would happen, but just in case something did go wrong he didnt want to be near her. Closing his eyes he would begin as he normally did, searching deep within him for the elements, it was usually a quick process, but he was being more careful this time, trying to harness both of their powers, releasing it slowly into his weapons. He could feel the powers flowing throughout his body. He would let out a deep breath as whisps of fire and sparks of electricity would begin to dance about his body. A red aura would surround Requiem and a yellow would surround Absolution, each of the weapons would grow in size slightly, but just enough to make Requiem classified as a longsword and Absolution a simple one handed axe.

He was finished, it seemed as if he had acheived what it was that he desired, as his eyes would spring open he would launch himself into a fury of attacks at thin air. At first he would slash with the two weapons infront of him, creating an X in the air, a trail of flames would follow Requiem and a trail of yellow light followed behind Absolution. Aiming a high kick through the center of the X he would move into a spinning attack, surrounding himself in fire and electricity. Pulling out of the attack he would swing both weapons diagonally into the air away from him before pulling his arms into an X shape infront of his face and lowering the weapons to his side.

"Hmmm... learn something new everyday I guess..."

((OOC)) Sorry, it took me days to think of something that would maybe impress Rish XD But hey, at least its kinda good? ((OOC))

OOC: Yeah, that's definitely something to work on. I can establish a decent pattern from that.

IC>>>>>

"Hmmm... learn something new everyday I guess..."

(Indeed. Rish had watched Davis' energy and concentration carefully, picking apart his abilities with her gaze as she determined the methodology of his power. Everything had a pattern to it, like a meta-human home-operation manual. She had merely not figured out Davis' until now, watching him change both of his weapons into slightly-larger varients of two different elements. This was intriguing... When Davis next looked over in the direction of Rish, he would find that she was not sitting there in fox-form, but now appearing off to the side, a few feet away in human-form, looking genuinely pleased.)

Rish: Excellent. While you were doing that, I was able to see exactly how your power works. And now, I guess you realize that you're a little more versatile than either of us knew for sure. It seems to me, now, that your weapon-changes along with the elemental embuing just required refinement. I'll bet that with enough power and a little imagination, you form Requiem there into a number of different swords, sort of like flexing an arm or something.

(Then, she pulled out her katana carefully. Where her wakizashis were now was anyone's guess, but Rish was opting to take the training in yet another direction. She was in her human form, but letting her fox-ears and three tails show, carefully listening to Requiem go Ting when she knocked her katana against it.)

Rish: So then... You have these blades with two elements involved. Do either of them project that element in any way?

He thought about this for a moment, he had played around with both of his weapons before trying to figure out what they did, unfortunately not being able to figure out very much. Swinging both weapons in short wrist motions so that their elements trailed behind them slightly he would let out a small sigh before answering her.

"Nope... nothing projectile type things that I know of really.. Then again I don't think that ive ever really tried it. So I'm not completely sure. I'm guessing that its deffinitally possible, I mean they both leave behind a trail of their elemental properties as you've probably noticed.."

He wasn't really sure what exactly he was supposed to do next, did she want him to just figure out a way and try it right there and then? Maybe he would be able to do something, he was able to pull this new transformation out of nowhere..

"Maybe if I could somehow figure out how to release some of the energy when I swing the blades or something."

"Maybe if I could somehow figure out how to release some of the energy when I swing the blades or something."

Rish: Exactly.

(It was good to see that he was on the ball. Explaining everything can really be a pain sometimes. For a human, Davis seemed to progress quicker than she'd hoped. This teaching thing could very well work out. Rish now took a step or two back and began to twirl her katana around her thumb, effortlessly swishing around with a trail of visible spirit energy in gray following it.)

Rish: Thus far, you've managed to put your energy into an otherwise dead object and changed its overall structure. Projecting the element involved in the form of some sort of slash move should be easy in comparison. Your will is holding the energy in there, which builds up every time you attack to produce that explosive effect. Now then...

(Rish turned and walked away, several feet out of Davis' attack range. She then turned to face him, her katana resting on her shoulder. Also, a funny little thing about explaining all the time. Rish didn't like to do it all the time, but...she DID enjoy showing off her wealth of knowledge.)

Rish: Instead of requiring an actual impact, look for the right moment to release the energy and try to hit me from where you stand. Don't worry about injuring me. I can take it.

It was going to be much more difficult then she made it sound, he was already pushing himself much further in this one day then he had done his entire life. The amount of strain that he had already placed on his body was almost insane, if only his father could see him now. As he pondered how he would go about doing this he figured it would at least do to aknowlage what she had said. Something that in his eagerness to impress had almost forgotten to do.

"Alright Rish. I'll do it."

There was a certain tone of confidence in his voice that had been absent almost every other time that he had spoken since his spar with Jake. After having his fighting ego smashed up like that, going from thinking he was the best to knowing how much further he really needed to go. From all of the progress that he had made in that day alone he felt much better about himself. He was going to give it all he had.

He found himself focusing his hold on the elements in his blade, the first step that he would normally take to remove his soul power from his weapons. After taking a deep breath he would swin Requiem, due to his incresed focus he could feel the power within the weapon growing stronger as it normally did with each strike. As it passed his chest he would try to push the flame element from the blade. Looking up as the blade would fall to his side the smile would fade from his face. His first attempt had been a failure.

After waiting for a few more seconds he would attempt the same feat again, this time using Absolution. A shout of anger would escape his lips as once again he failed in his attempt to send an arial attack at Rish. He could feel the amount of energy within the weapons grow with his anger. He didn't even care to attempt a thrid time, to release some of his anger he would swing both weapons in an X pattern. A loud crack could be heard as a flash of lighting would escape Absolution and a wave of flame came from the blade of Requiem.

Blinking a few times he would stand in amazement as the attacks flew towards his new instructor.

"Uhm.... hah."

BZZZZZZT- FWOOOOOSH!!

Rish: Batter up.

(There was a wave of flame and lightning heading straight for her, a dangerous combination that would cause much pain and anguish to the average person. However, since Rish was not average, it would {A} more than likely not hurt as much and {B} not even reach her anyway, since she was going to slice it apart. As she raised her katana, the blade glowed with spirit energy. Then, looking on at the oncoming torrent with a smirk, she swung down at it...and a projected blade of energy swooshed towards it, meeting it about halfway. On impact, the energy cut into the flames and disrupted the lightning. secondary bolts flailed about for a moment as the fire spread out and seemed to extinguish. Rish was, of course, none the worse for wear. Then, without warning, Rish disappeared. It was an act of traveling by astral plain, reappearing right next to Davis, facing the direction he was with her elbow up on his shoulder as if to lean on him. Her tails were whipping around in an excitable way and she appeared to be in a good mood, her clever smile saying it all.)

Rish: That was really good. D'you need a break after that? You seem a little tired.

Rish: That was really good. D'you need a break after that? You seem a little tired.

That was an understatement, Davis had just about pushed himself to his absolute limit. He was feeling very lightheaded and found that it was difficult for him to stand straight, the weight of Rish's elbow was almost sending him into the ground. Taking hold of the elements in his weapons he would grasp them once again, only this time completely remove them from the weapons. Requiem and Absolution would return to their natural forms before he would resheath them. He knew that he would be unable to preform his powers again for a little while.

Carefully making his way to the edge of the stage he would sit himself on the edge for a moment before laying down. He was exausted...

"Yeah... I need a break. Thanks."

He was a little short of breath, he found himself drifting in and out of sleep for a few moments. He had to try his hardest to fight off the urge, he wanted more then anything to stay awake and prove to Rish that he could handle this kind of training. He wanted to prove to her that he could be a great fighter.

"Yeah... I need a break. Thanks."

(He seemed genuinely grateful for the brake. Well, what was a teacher to do? Jake was in the habit of bringing his students to the breaking point and then letting them rest a long time. Rish felt that if she pushed someone she taught for long enough, she had better give them a chance too. Hence, this break. Rish walked over to the stage and hoisted herself up to sit nearby, looking out at the auditorium as Davis attempted to stay conscious. His devotion was certainly strong. Rish thought for a moment, and then decided to get his attention in order to help him stay awake.)

Rish: Davis... I was wondering... Would you mind listening to something of my past? There's an issue that I've been pondering that I can't seem to resolve, and I think perhaps only a human could answer it.

A smile would cross his face as she spoke, he was happy that she was going to choose to open up to him a little bit. It was proof that their friendship was growing, he liked that. Placing his palms against the stage he would hoist himself up into a sitting position, it seeemed as if it was much easier to keep his eyes open while he was sitting up. He would simply stare into space for a moment before letting out a very loud yawn.

"There... I feel much better now, hah! Of course I'll listen to anything you want to talk to me about Rish. Not only are you my teacher, but my friend as well, and thats what friends do. Hah, fire at will."

(A slight smile crossed her face, but it did not last. Whatever was on Rish's mind, it serious enough to usurp any good mood she was in. It could clearly be seen in her somber expression, her downcast eyes, and the drooping of her fox-ears. Her tails were dead still as she spoke.)

Rish: I have lived for a few hundred years now, and he gotten to the point where the only true threat to my person is of something great in power at least. I should be secure in my strengths, perfectly in control of all situations I'm involved in. And yet...

(His hands tensed, fingers driving the subtle claws that were her nails into the wood of the stage.)

Rish: I've found that I've no more grown now than I was then, that all my security is a mask that can be flung off at any given moment.

(She seemed more than disturbed by these words. There were several instances lately, in her life, that had forced her to act out of fear, rage, depression, and other such emotions. There was no more control in her than any other being, yet she felt that this was suppose to be.)

Rish: For all other times, this was understandable, but there was one thing...

(A pause, then...)

Rish: I have a brother, name of Daggoth. He is my only brother, you see, out of the entire family. And aside from those who brought me into this world, there is no one I more implicitly trust than him. Recently, a boy I had heard of - a meta-human - was said to have killed him. When I heard this, I was undone, damaged far worse than any mage could ever hope to achieve. One lousy human had done this, sucking away his very soul into a void. Then, recently, I had learned of something even more unexpected. I heard that he lived. The boy who had sucked him in had been killed and he possessed the body. I could hardly believe my eyes when the one I was set to kill contained my own so-called flesh and blood. When he convinced me of such, I felt reborn, overjoyed. And yet, glad as I was, I was weeping like a regular human girl, yet...I couldn't control myself.

(Davis could probably see how this problem was evident right now. Rish looked to be on the verge of tears as she spoke, her fists clenched. Finally, she looked him in the eye and delivered her question, the thing that perhaps only a human could answer.)

Rish: Why can I not contain myself anymore? I've lost my restraint entirely! I have to check myself carefully during normal conversation! Why can't I regain control of myself?

Rish: Why can I not contain myself anymore? I've lost my restraint entirely! I have to check myself carefully during normal conversation! Why can't I regain control of myself?

As she finished telling her story Davis was in shock, he hadn't seen this comming at all. Even though he was a little wierded out by the fact that she had just dumped all of this onto him like that, he was happy at the same time. She trusted him, she had to trust him if she was just going to dump something like this onto him without any warning. It was then that he decided that it wasn't weird at all, and that he would have to think of something quick to say, some sort of answer to her problems, all he could do was think. But what could he possibly come up with to say to Rish, she was far more experienced than him, way smarter, faster, stronger, superior to him in every way. Yet for the first time since they met he found a weakness in her, something that made me seem much more mortal to him.

"Something like that would have an extreme impact on anybody Rish... To lose your brother to something like that and then suddenly gain him back, but not have him be himself anymore? It seems like something that would unhinge myself as well. Even though you are a very strong individual, your still mortal, you still feel emotions do you not? I can't see how anybody would be able to just get over something like that, I dont think that in reality that can happen. All I can think of as a sort of solution to this problem would be to just wait it out... As long as your brother is alive at least you can still see him and spend time with him, am I right? Eventually things will just go back to normal and you can be as strong as you once were."

"I just think that when your brother died you felt a little more vulnerable then you used to. The fact that he had been killed by a human I suspect was what really set you off the edge. No matter how powerful somebody may be, theres always another person somewhere who is stronger, or who has the means to defeat that person. Your brother was just unlucky enough to run into that somebody. But at least you have him back now, right?"

Davis wasn't sure what else he could say to her, he had never had to deal with anything quite like this before so he wasn't exactly used to giving advice to somebody who had been alive before even his grandparents. He had done the best that he could and hoped that Rish wouldn't be upset with him, the last thing that he wanted to do was upset his teacher... no, his friend.

((Sorry, I was having computer issues so I havn't been able to be online long enough to post in a while. Things are running normally again though so its all good. Sorry again.))

(Feeling vulnerable, unhinged, more mortal - those were all things that Rish hated to be. Although, it was a matter of fact that she didn't mind opening up to certain human beings from time to time. There were those whom she was acquainted with to call them friends of a sort, and she'd decided that Davis was one of them. Listening to him, she felt her emotions responding strongly. He was right on several points, though...she did not want to be lacking in control for long. Such a thing was foreign to her.)

Rish: I should say that...the state of his being doesn't bother me. I will recover eventually, and return to being the way he always has. But...you're right about the destruction at the hands of a mortal. Daggoth never really liked humans. That was always my thing, which he respected out of regard for me. That a human would unexpectedly kill him or do as much as he did...is very disconcerting. I believed you humans better than that. Even though he was on one of his raids, I can't find him to blame for something like this. In the end, I still believe in my own kin.

(She brought up a knee and began to rest her head on it, thinking to herself. Then...)

Rish: One thing I do hate, though... Mortality. It may be fair that after living so long, I'll eventually die, but...I know how old men feel when they die. Many of them don't want to, and I've been put in a position that almost killed me. That's why I'm here...
