Lupis stood at the edge of the AHS roof, leaning on the railing that ran around its edge and looking off into the darkening sky. Behind him, the sun was beginning to sink into the horizon, casting its orange and red rays across the landscape. Lupis, though, faced the other way; towards the sky that was deepening from blue, to purple, and to a very thin band of black at the edge of sight. It was the time of day that lent itself to dark introspection -- Lupis generally tried to stay away from those kinds of thoughts, on the basis that there was usually nothing that could actually be accomplished aside from depression, but he had felt slightly depressed that day anyway. What the cause was, if anything, he had no idea. He just knew he felt pissier than usual, and the lack of any reason just made it worse. Maybe it was some sort of aftereffect of his recent... change... but he didn't think so. He had felt perfectly normal (and incredibley relieved) since he reverted back to his normal body, and he couldn't honestly believed that this was some delayed response. "At Tara in this fateful hour..." It was less than a whisper; to hear it, anyone lacking the best super-hearing would have to have their ear closer to his mouth than decency generally allowed. The poem was an old one, and it was something he often thought of when he felt unusually out of sorts. It didn't really help, but it was a mental sort of reflex. The full version repeated itself in his head a few times. At Tara in this fateful hour I call on Heaven with all its power And the sun with its brightness, And the snow with its whiteness, And the fire with all the strength it hath, And the lightning with its rapid wrath, And the winds with their swiftness along their path, And the sea with its deepness, And the rocks with their steepness, And the earth with its starkness, All these I place By God's almightly help and grace Between myself and the powers of darkness... His thoughts trailed off as he heard a small, annoyed hiss from the back of his mind. He couldn't help but smirk a little at it. Another reason to like the poem -- it annoyed the demon at the back of his head. Useless drivel... You have no appreciation of fine literature. I do so look forward to the day I cast you into your personal Hell, Greenwood... I have to listen to you 24/7, he thought, shoving the demon back into its mental cell. Hell can't possibley be much worse. |

Amaya walked up unto the hill to think of the things that had happened so far in the time she had come to the school. She got lost in the beauty of the sunset. A clear sky was beautiful though she prefered a simple rain. Though not as much as she loved and hated storms. Amaya untied her hair and letted her purple hair fall about her face. She was glad to have meet some people but now she just wanted to be with her own thoughts without the pressure of being perfect to as not trouble anyone like she did her Guardians. Amaya started humming softly to herself as she wondered around the rooftop trying to get a better few of the sunset. When she came to a spot where it was right she found someone already sitting there. Though he seemed to be in his own thoughts. She was freightful to annoy anyone at this school for not all was as it appeared to her in the first place. She didnt know what anyone here was capable of. But she didnt want to startle the person with just sitting down next to him. She decided to be as polite as possible. She walked up to behind him and bent over slightly. Her hair in front of her face slightly. Her grey hazel eyes shinning out it worry. No matter how much she tried to conceil her emotions, she had eyes that gave them away with slight alterations. Amaya tapped the guy softly on the shoulder and asked politely. "May I sit here next to you?" She gave the boy a nice praticed smile. |

Lupis drummed his fingers on the railing a bit as the dome of the sky darkened further. As goth or emo as it sounded, it seemed an apt metaphor for his mood at the moment. Partially dark, partially light, and slightly tinged with red. The whole nightcycle of the planet was sort of a metahpor for human nature. It had a light side and a dark side, with a whole scale of greys in between. Of course, humans could choose which side they showed the world, while the planet regularly displayed both its 'sides' to the rest of the universe. His mind wandered along that path for a little bit until an elusive scent called him back. He had thought he smelled something similar in the lunchroom the other day, though he hadn't been sure that he wasn't imagining it. This, though, was definite, if fleeting. What the- "May I sit here next to you?" Lupis jumped slightly and spun around, his heart racing slightly as he faced the purple-haired girl. He had been lost in thought enough that he hadn't heard her approach, and he had a martial artist's dislike of having people sneak up on him. "Jeez," he said. "You must walk like a cat, or something..." "And yeah, you can sit here," he added after a second. |

Amaya felt bad that she had disturbed him. She didnt want to make enemies in a place like this. Amaya sat down next to him by the railing. Pulled her knees in close like a hug, resting her chin on her knees as she watched the sky. Her purple hair fell slightly covering her face. She started to slightly cry. Not knowing the reason though she waiting until the warm tears faded. "Sorry for bothering you. I really didnt mean to scare you. I was just that you were so deep in thought..." Amaya's voice trailed off. A quiver was ready to excape through her words and she couldnt and wouldnt allow that. Thinking quickly that she realized that this place made her feel like when she lived with her adoptive parents. She never felt her sorrow for them until know being outside again in the setting sun. Like it was a normal day. |

Lupis sank into a sitting position as the small rush of adrenaline subsided, his legs hanging over the edge of the roof. He hadn't been scared per se, but he didn't really like to be sneaked up on. He felt more angry about it than anything else, and he knew that the girl hadn't intended it; and so the small burst of anger turned inward on himself. He didn't really know what he was actually angry about. That he had allowed himself to be taken unawares, he supposed. Well gosh, he thought sarcastically. I suppose I should always be hyper-alert and paranoid, wherever I am. The thought didn't really appeal to him. He thought briefly of that one character from the 'Harry Potter' books -- he couldn't remember the name, but the one that was always convinved he would be attacked at any time. Maybe he would ask Harker later, if he cared enough. He knew his roommate read the books, so it was likely that he would know. More likely than Lupis knowing, anyway. Or maybe I could just stay in a locked room with a loaded gun pointing at the door, he thought, his minor streak of self-mocking refusing to let up. As enclosed in his thoughts as he was, he completely failed to notice Amaya's tears -- and he almost forgot her presence entirely until she spoke again. "Sorry for bothering you. I really didnt mean to scare you. I was just that you were so deep in thought..." "It's fine," he said, just a little grudgingly. He thought she sounded a little sad, but decided not to mention it. He was almost entirely lost on matters of emotion, and really hoped this meeting wouldn't turn into something of that sort. He could deal with the emotions of people he knew, but someone he had just met... "Not your fault I'm jumpy." |

Amaya took hold of her emotions, feeling a little bit silly. She tried to draw them up, trying to look like she was just wiping her eyes. THen turned to him and gave a tiny polite smile. "I'm Amaya." She looked back towards the sky, the feeling that had overwhelmed her before was now gone. She calmed herself and her thoughts. She decided it was no harm in starting a small conversation, "So why did you come up here?" Amaya tried to sound nonhostile as possible. She was sincerely curious, but tryied to make it sound like something he didnt have to talk about if he didnt want to. |

"Lupis," he said in a noncomittal tone in response to her own introduction. He really didn't feel like talking at the moment, at least not to this girl. Still, she hadn't done anything - not intentionally, anyway. And while Lupis could act like an asshole when the situation called for it, he felt very definitely that he had never really crossed the line into actually being one. And thus he felt -just a tad unfairly, in his opinion- restricted from just telling the girl to go away. Sometimes he wanted to just be outright nasty to relieve his own tension. He remembered the brief note of sadness in the girl's voice though. Anything he did along those lines would only make himself feel like scum. Being one of the good-guys sucks... "So why did you come up here?" "Because it's quiet," he said, still staring off into the darkening horizon, at once hoping that she might get the hint, but hoping she wouldn't take it as some sort of personal offense. People were way too thin-skinned sometimes. Whether she was or not, he didn't know. Nor did he particulary want to find out. |

Amaya nodded her head. She felt a tad bit thankful that there was no necessity for her to try to converse. Amaya turned back to the sky, it was getting dark. Amaya didnt want to go inside yet. Amaya was hopeing that it would be a clear night so that she could see the stars. Amaya looked up at the darking colors. Her hair falling out of front of her face. Her eyes turned a darker honey brown with thankfullness at the silence. Amaya gazed up at the stars expectantly. Waiting for the stars to start showing. At least a little bit. She lost track of what was going on around her. She just wanted to see the stars then she probably should go back to her room. |
