((OOC: Just something I couldn't add, if you want to join, be a security guard or something, you don't want your character to be here, it will suck horribly in the end.)) Onboard a FFP oil derrick somewhere off the coast of Oregon... As soon as the alarms had gone off Barnard and the other security members had been getting dressed and grabbing their XM8's from the gun racks. The blue lights that flashed through the thin corridors meant only one thing. The reactor was going critical Teams of engineers had rushed through to reach their stations as security began searching around for any possible reason behind this. Yellow lights started flashing signaling the crew of the oil derrick that worse had come. All safety protocalls had failed to activate. All but one. Bernard Ran through the mobbing crowds as they pressed against him to reach the main control room. Bernard knew something, this was impossible. Not all of them. Even worse the sound of the buzzer alarms ad grown louder. After a few seconds He reached the outside of the Oil derrick to see what looked much like a Black Hawk leaving. "Who's helicopter is that??" He asked as he grabbed another security member. "I don't know, we didn't even know they were here!" The security member replied as he wiggled from Bernards grasp. Meanwhile... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "All main security systems have been shut down, safety measures are not responding, fuel rods two and eight are not responding, recommend immediate insertion of Rad control suits to check the situation!" Anmother engineer had shouted. "Send Rad control suits in and re-insert control rods two and eight, activate emergency nanobot release for radiation clean-up, have all security teams prepared to evac all remaining members!" Markus shouted. With the emergency occuring, Markus ordered a majority of the crew to investigate the emergency. Most of which were in the below water section trying to restore the main safety measures. "Reactor will go critical in eight minutes sir!" Another officer had shouted. Markus looked around, seeing if any of the engineering team wasn't present. "Where's Bernard? His security team should have been here by now!" Markus shouted. Two other engineering officers looked up. "We've lost contact, radiation is spreading and electro magnetic pulses are going throughout the structure, recommend we activate the nanobots NOW!" the first engineer shouted. The small space known as the control room wasn't exactly a place for panic either. Behind Markus was the thick hatchway that led into the corridors. In front were multiple desks with computers and electronics. On the very end was a thick glass window with a large nuclear reactor hidden behind it. Many had commented on how unsafe it might have been if the windows were,'t designed to stop radiation. "Multiple breaches occuring all over! Security team delta reports they've found an explosive device on the lower section of the main reactor chamber! Somebody want's us to die sir!" "We've got pressure increasing, multiple malfunctions in main support systems..." "emergency coolant systems are not responing, backup shutdown systems have failed! She going to blo..." the shouts slowly became silent as a bright flash of light came from below the window. Without hesitation engineering officers began shoving to get through the small access hatch and out of the control room. The blue and yellow lights were replaced by red lights now signaling that there was hardly any time left. Markus was first to get through the door. Before all of the engineering team could get throug a large explosion blew the glass inwards, ripping apart anything and anybody still in the room. Flames funneled out through the door burning Markus's hands until he managed to shut the large thick hatch. Now only screams of pain and the alarms could be heard. The loud alarm pulsed as if it were the last bit to motivate an evacuation of the derrick. Slowly Markus limped away from the door, cradling his scorched hands. Upon taking a closer look he noticed that the flesh had nearly been burned off in one part. Glass had also cut a clear chunk out as well. all the while he pressed against the wall as he walked so that he didn't have to balance his body. Off behind him screams became louder as collant and steam pipes broke burning anyone unfortunate enough to get caught under them. The sound of the alarms grew louder as Markus came closer to the outside. Upon reaching the door, Marcus heard a large explosion behind him as the door to the control room was blown off of it's hinges. the blast knocked him through the door and towards the outside. "Markus? Dear god, where have you been!?!" The voice seemed slurred and twisted beyond recognition. After a few seconds Markus realsed that he was suffering from blood loss. "The reactor....explosio..." He barely managed to mumble the words to Bernard. "I know, we need to get out of here..." Markus looked up to see that Bernard had his Machine pistol drawn and ready. that was an odd sign, why would he need that during a reactor failure? With as dizzy as he was he didn't care, they had medical supplies on the life rafts. Slowly Bernard followed Markus as he limped along the railing p to the mainplatform. On the top was what looked like a single pillar two stories tall on a smoth surface, sadly the smooth surface was nearly goe thanks to internal explosions caused by the reactor. BThe pillar had connected to the main reactor below. On the very top of the illar where what looked much like oversized grenade launchers. Bernard knew why Markus had come here, if the nano ubes failed to launch, the worlds water supply would be poisoned by radiation. Slowly he began moving towards it, reaching out to the pilar with his one good hand he searched around until finding what he was looking for. A single control panel emained intac on th side.in big red tters it flashed the wrd "eject!" repeatedly, as if it required that somebody press it. Indeed Markus pressed it. Looking he up watched as al the grenade lanchers fired off the nano tubes. Bernard watched as Markus limped towards the ledge of the derrick. Upon reaching it Bernard ran up and grabbed him. "We found this, it was some sort of virus, we don't know what, get it to safety..." Bernard said as he looked lowards the pillar as it collapsed. The ground around the pillar slowly began to collaps as well. Calmly Bernard handed it to Markus. It was a solid canister with four metal wires holding it shut. As Markus took it, the collapsing ground began to rise again. Bernard immediatly pushed Markus over the side, allowing him to fall into the water. Just as Markus fell, an explosion from the derrick blinded him and covered his hands as they remained above the water. He felt like screaming, but the pain faded with the bright flash. |
