Dobanal stood in the middle of his dorm room, surrounded by open boxes of k'Nex toys. There had to be at least a dozen boxes of just random, assorted parts as well as a few specialized kits. He had closed his door before setting out on this endeavor, because to start off, he needed complete concentration. Once his mind was clear, he immediately envisioned the boxes of toys as best as he could. His right arm shot out and his palm opened up. The result of this was that the toys began to stir. He made his left hand into a fist and pointed at the stereo in the room. It immediately began to play The Sorcerer's Apprentice musical track. Almost as though it were in tune with the music, parts floated out of the boxes in midair and began to arrange themselves in seemingly-random ways. All the while, Dobanal was conducting with his fingers, simply as though he were a conductor for an orchestra. All the while, the volume on the stereo crept higher. So as the musical track went onwards, the random patterns of k'Nex toys began to form something. Rods were placed into holes whereupon more were stacked higher and higher to form towers. More than that, lengths of the toys began to lay themselves flat upon the tops of the towers of rods. Slowly, but surely, the random pattern was coming to life. Suddenly, the music increased in tempo and the parts began to fly around harder as a result of it. Metallic lengths began to lay flat in the air where they would later be supported by the towers. Finally, the base of the thing was built and the lengths were all now laying on the towers. It would be difficult to tell what it was, at least at first. But as you looked at it longer, you'd begin to realize that it was a miniature rollercoaster that ran all around the main room of the dorm. Finally, Dobanal opened his eyes and lowered his left hand to the ground. He made a grasping motion and bags of screws rose into the air and emerged out of the plastic wrapping. He looked at the rollercoaster track all around him and mentally ordered the screws to fly into place and secure themselves. With that out of the way, he sat down on the floor and rested for a little bit. The next part would be the most trying part. |
