The wind was chilly, but overall the weather wasn't that bad. Most of the flowers and trees were dormant, but here and there the occasional weed-like flower or tree had a leaf. The sun tried to warm the air, but with little sucess, even in the middle of the day.

A small black cat sprinted across the lawn, followed slowly by a female of remarkable height. She stopped, not having seen which way the cat was going. Her long, white skirt looked as though it would be cold, but it was layered, and her warmest peice of clothing. Her light-blue shirt was of simple design, but had lace accents in white.

She had wanted to look nice today, so she had french-braided her waist-length brown hair, creating a tail that flowed with its own mind. She played with the end of the braid as she turned around in a circle, looking down each pathway for the elusive cat. Heaving a long sigh, Teare finally admitted to herself that she was lost.

The garden proved to be a wonderful place even though it wasn't adorned with the elegant flowers that would appear in the spring. It was enough to satisfy Roberts, though, for he had not yet gotten used to the scenery that earth provided. In the windy weather, his short-sleeved blue shirt ruffled as did his jet black hair. His eyes seemed to wander from here and there yet it was evident that he was not looking for anything or anyone in particular.

He looked human enough in nature and physical appearance. In fact, even his emotions mimicked those of the humans (for he was indeed part human afterall). Still, something about him that most couldn't quite catch, was not human. Afterall, the shimmer of his eyes wasn't exactly the same as most of those on earth.

He had come here just on another expedition around the school. He was giving himself a tour of the school and of the people in general. He was pretty satisfied with his surroundings and the attitude of most of the people. In fact, he was very happy about his situation presently.

And now, in his line of vision, was a young lady who seemed a little lost by her appeal. As she sighed, he began to walk toward her. His warm smile and kind-hearted brown eyes greeted her even before he was to speak.

"S'cuse me, Madame. Is there anything I can assist you with? You look a little perplexed..."

"Oh!" said Teare, who immediately had to stop herself from curtseying in the faerie court style. "Thank you! I seem to have lost my...cat."

How would she explain that it wasn't really her cat, but Louis? With any luck at all, the gentleman...no...something else, but still male. Hopefully he wouldn't ask anyway.
Teare was used to recognizing and being with non-humans or even half-bloods, so it wasn't much of a shock to see the dark-haired man. He was however the first she had seen at the school, and so chose not to comment.

"I suppose I can find him later. He'll eventually return. He always does. Thank you for offering though." Remembering her manners, she said, "I'm Teare. May I ask your name sir?"

Roberts' smile deepened. She had manners of her own that he hadn't seen in a very long time. Such things as this were the simple happinesses of his time. Although he would've liked to talk more about her cat, he stuck to the conversation and decided to add it in when it seemed more appropriate later on.

"I'm Roberts." He replied, bowing to her politely. Bowing was something he picked up when he was in Germany. Although the reason why Germans bowed had always confused him (and not only because of the bowing). But, nonetheless, he thought it was a good addition to his respectful manner and thus used it quite often.

"You don't need to call me sir, madame. It makes me feel old." Roberts joked, "I don't want to feel any older than I am. I'm probably not the right age anyway." He added although the last bit was said a little far off.

"But anyway, how are you on such a fine day...well, besides the fact that you've lost your cat..."

SoCal has spoiled me, KA decided, thrusting his hands deep into his pockets and drawing his jacket tighter around him, paisley tie flapping wildly in the breeze as he squared his shoulders to keep the cold at bay. It was chilly enough to make him regret his usual cargo shorts--even with the jacket on over his labcoat, his lower legs were freezing--but not quite cold enough to run him back to his dorm. So long as he stayed in the sun, at least.

This trip had started as a walk to the office to take care of some final paperwork. Now he was just letting his feet take him where they would. A good thing too: none of the information the school had sent prepared him for just how big the place was. Hell, some of the college campuses he'd visited weren't this large, or impressive. At this point he wasn't sure when he'd head back to his House, or even if he remembered the way back. But he'd burn that bridge when he got to it.

As KA wandered through the garden, which looked amazingly well-tended, even now, he spotted two people up ahead--a boy who looked about his age, and one of the tallest girls he'd seen anywhere. It occured to him that there hadn't been too many people out and about today, perhaps opting to spend this chilly day inside. Or at least dress better, he chided himself.

Then he noticed the boy's short-sleeved shirt, and grinned--apparently KA wasn't the only crazy one around here. The girl didn't appear to be wearing anything particularly heavy either. He puzzled over the latter's clothing for a moment as he approached; it looked a bit archaic, but didn't quite jibe with any style with which he was familiar--not that he'd ever be accused of having an eye for fashion, of course. Unlike him, neither of them looked much fazed by the cold.

Guess California really has spoiled me. Curiosity overcoming his usual reticence, he approached the pair, just as the boy said somehting about a lost cat.

"Umm...hi," he said quietly, surprising himself. Why did I do that?... "Sorry to interrupt," he continued, after an akward moment's silence, "but I couldn't help but overhear..."

Turning to the oddly-dressed boy that approached, Teare wondered why he was dressed so heavily. It was only...well the temperature could be considered cold for a traveler from warmer climes.
"Yes, I've lost my cat Louis, but it dosen't really matter. He'll come back eventually, I hope."
She turned to include Roberts more.
"This is Roberts and I am Teare, what do you call yourself?"

"KA--or Kazama, if you prefer," he added hastily. Somehow his usual nickname didn't feel right, given his current company. Teare's dress, height, and bearing all hinted that she was of some importance; Roberts...well, he couldn't put his finger on it, but there was something unusual about him as well. But he was in a school for people with special abilities, after all.

"Don't miind me," he continued, smiling a bit sheepishly. "Just taking the 'self-guided tour,' if you will, and you're about the first people I've seen so far today."

"Funny that you should mention about the 'self-guided tour'," Roberts stated as he rubbed his chin with his hand in some sort of thought, "I was just taking that tour myself when I found Miss Teare here. So I suppose we are all here for the same reason, then. How interesting." Another smile before his hand fell from his chin. His brown eyes seemed to sparkle unnaturally although he did not intend for them to do so. Afterall, he was a mutt of a few races and such odd tendencies of his appearance was expected. He glanced from Teare to Kazama before tilting his head slightly.

"How about we take the tour together? Travelling alone is such a boring expedition in itself. Besides, it'll give us more than just ourselves to talk to...unless Miss Teare wants to wait for her cat." Roberts proposed as he winked at Teare...

Teare blushed and smiled, "Seems like a most excellent plan! I'm also relatively new to the school, and would enjoy being escorted around by two such nice gentlemen.” She might as well avoid the whole my-cat-is-actually-my-guardian-sent-by-my-adoptive-aunt thing. She had tried to explain it once and the entire event had ended disastrously. Avoiding the entire issue was definitely the best option.

Searching her feelings about the two boys quickly, she found that KA was someone she wanted to know more, and that Robert’s was someone she could most likely trust. This was an alien feeling to Teare. Abandoned near birth to the fairies, Teare was used to court intrigue and gossip, not trust and interest. Deciding to take it as a good thing, she came back to the present and asked, “Where shall we go?” to no one in particular.

"Hmmmm..." Robert's rubbed his chin again. He obviously hadn't thought that far into the plan. This was due mainly because of his heritage and his love to 'wing' things, "Well, why don't we start walking and where ever we end up, we'll explore?" He eyed them both, studying them. Most people would not be able to comprehend such reasonings as this. Still, it was more adventurous that way and he couldn't stand to give up the offer of such an adventurous stance. However, he had company and it was most rude to go against their wishes no matter how much it restrained him (and the blood that flowed through his veins).

"I have been to Dragoon Mountain in the last couple of days. It's especially beautiful at night." He mentioned as he pictured Lady Luna (his name for the moon) on that particular night, "But except for that...." He shrugged to prove his point. Being new here himself, he wasn't quite sure of the location of everything yet.

"Or...we could go for a swim...at least, if the weather doesn't bother you. My blood is warmer than most others and I can take a wide variety of conditions." He added. He hadn't swam since the day he lost Ellice. Swimming, however, was a very good way for him to relieve stress and if his company wouldn't agree to that offer then he'd go there later on that day....

"'Gentleman'?? That's a new one." KA grinned. Even though they were a bit more formal than he was used to, he was starting to like these two. "But I'm all for it. As far as where to go...Dragoon Mountain sounds like fun." It would give him a chance to try a few things out, and--though he didn't want to admit as much to Teare and Roberts--he had his doubts about going into the water at this temperature.

Hey, wait a minute... he looked up, remembering something. "Not sure about the lake....but if I recall correctly, my 'sources' mentioned something about a hot spring around here somewhere. Might be a good place to wrap things up."

"Oooh! That sounds heavenly!"
Teare had been being put through her paces by Louis before she lost him, and there was no time like the present for procrastination!
"I haven't been to a real hot spring in ages!"
She had been to one only with Louis once, as culture lessons upon entering the country. That seemed like ages, but it was only three months ago. Time went slowly for Teare whereever she was, in Twilight, Shadow or on earth.
"Oh, lets go to the hot springs Robert's. Can we?"

Roberts couldn't help but to laugh and he nodded his head in agreement. Truthfully, Roberts had never been to a hot spring before and he knew nothing about such places.

"That sounds like a fine idea. It would help expand my knowledge of this place. Honestly, I didn't know they had a hot spring around here. I guess they have pretty much everything." He mentioned as he studied his surroundings very intensely.

"Well, Mr. KA...it looks like you'll have to lead us. I, for one, have no idea where it's located." Roberts admitted feeling like a little child lost in the city....
