He remained in the position holding her hand for a while before letting go. He was glad he had made such a friend, one who was willing to do something so sacred for him, a mere mortal being. He looked her in the eye, and then averted his gaze, remembering that she was still his sensei. "So, um... now that that is settled, would you like to sit and get to know each other? You have agreed to do such a thing for me, its only right that we become better acquainted, yes?" He teetered on the edge of hope and apprehension. He really did appreciate this, and he was hoping that getting to know her would strengthen their bond of friendship.

"So, um... now that that is settled, would you like to sit and get to know each other? You have agreed to do such a thing for me, it's only right that we become better acquainted, yes?"

(To this, Rish smiled in her usual sly way, inviting him to sit down as she did so himself, the waterfall churning nearby. She sat Indian style, though she had never seen an Indian, resting her arms on her legs and her head on that. To be honest, she was curious as to the nature of Mirakel's being. It was different for some reason, though she did not know why. This exchange of information intrigued her. Of course, it did indeed make sense that they would get to know one another better.)

Rish: I'll share a topic or two. Tell me... What is it you want to know? I'll let you in on some things, but others are still to be considered private. Gotta have my own life, after all.

Mirakel smiled gladly. He leaned back and straightened his posture, and evened out his breathing. "Well, how old are you? What kind of things as a spirit kitsune can you do? What are your basic likes and dislikes? When not crashing parties and tutoring young meta humans, what do you do?" He had a number of questions, but he decided not to press her too much about her history. Things like that can be tender when unexpected.

Rish: Understand, first of all, this tutoring thing is a new thing to me. I almost-never do that for anybody.

(In any case, she gave the questions some decent thought before answering. There was alot to her, even in those limited questions. Since embarassing Rish was an unlikelihood, she felt alright in answering them.)

Rish: Now then... In human terms, I am over three-hundred-and-fifty years old. As a Spirit Kitsune, I am especially linked to the astral plain. This means I can de-manifest at will, call spirits, and make use of spiritual energy in many ways. I prefer blades and attacks based upon that, personally, but I'm still more versatile than that.

(Another moment of thought, then she looked a tiny bit more serious.)

Rish: As to my likes and dislikes, I happen to like fooling people into things and being who I am, plus acting in the way I do when I believe in my race and humans. Most importantly, and you should take note of this, as it is my philosophy. While I like humans to a degree, I would rather see a thousand of them die than even one of my own kind.

(Yikes...)

Rish: Also, one thing I hate especially is sorcery. I've been in many a tight spots because sorcery tends to be a vulnerability to us in the right place. Anyway, the things I do are varied. I like to hunt and I like to pull tricks. Exploring and gathering information on interesting things is also a thing I do. I sue to collect trinkets, but then I used them to pay for entering your school, which sort of makes me rich.

He nodded, making sure that he kept note of that. He was probably one of a lucky few to actually befriend a kitsune to a point that they were willing to embrace him into their fold, and become one of their own.

He smiled at that. He enjoyed working with swords himself, but in their absence wasn't totally useless.

He nodded as he listened to show that he was indeed still listening. "Well, I must say that you are an interesting character indeed. If that is what life is like as a kitsune, I am not seeing a downside." Though he meant this in a joking offhanded manner, he hoped she would still not take it the wrong way. "Well, now that I know some about you, is there anything you would like to ask me?"

"Well, now that I know some about you, is there anything you would like to ask me?"

Rish: Well...

(She thought carefully about this. There were indeed some things about Mirakel that seemed to be somewhat...off. Of course, that would change in the end, wouldn't it? But for now, Rish had this strange feeling about the state of his being. In every normal aspect, Mirakel seemed as human as the next guy, or next meta-human. However, his energy felt funny, his soul seemed to waver strangely, and - oh yes - there was the fact that he could divide himself the way he could now. Even though that was technically Rish's doing, Mirakel may have always had THAT potential. So...)

Rish: Tell me why it is you're not human. Not human in the sense of being meta, that is. Did you simply grow up and they were developed or was there more to it than that?

Well, she was direct, he had to give her that. He could always find a way to avoid telling someone about where he came from and why he is what he is, but then again... there were some times when it just wouldn't help to avoid it. Now was one of those times.

"Please bear with me, for this will take some time to explain." He took a deep breath to calm himself. It was normally nonverbally he revisited the cold halls of the facility, but now it would take all of his concentration not to break down.

"I... was twelve when I came to the facility. It was a multi trillion dollar business, a research facility decades ahead of the countries themselves, which sponsored the research. Mine was funded by the Japanese government." He opened his eyes to tell her with his eyes the emotions flooding him right then. Pain... sorrow...

"The experiment was human manifestations of spirit forces. To create a warrior that could use his own life force to attack and kill. Personally, I think someone had been watching too many cartoons." He chuckled uneasily. "I... was the youngest of the 300 subjects. I only managed to get to know a few of them before most of them died. Each time one died, the next one took his place. Process of elimination basically." His eyes began to mist, he was lost in his memories and wandering the corridors once again. "They developed a type of energy that was artificially created, but was in every way shape and form like a person's normal spirit. But... there was only one way for it to be accepted into a human body." He stood and slowly, suspensefully, removed his shirt. "You say you'd never want one of your own to suffer, but what about when a human suffers without cause?"

His tanned muscular chest was scarred down the middle with a long, pale scar that reached down to his navel. His forearms were criscrossed with scars, geometrically set in his skin. "I was the only one they succeeded in keeping the energy in, but it was a painful process. They said it was a tedius scientific process." He laughed cynically. "I know they were lying. They guessed with every incision they made." He turned to show her his back, crisscrossed with no apparant method behind the madness. They looked painful, some creating complete circles where the flesh had been removed from his body entirely. He kept looking away from her, his frame shaking as he remembered the pain. "They put me on a cold metal table... adminsitered drugs to keep me awake... and restrained my arms and legs. They never used any anesthesia." Tears leaked down his face. "I could feel the scalpal bite into me... I could feel them poke and prod inside of me. I would scream myself hoarse, and they would comment they were glad I was done making such a racket."

He slammed a fist against a tree, cracking the bark and bending the trunk to an odd angle. The sound was enormous, the impact of the blow and the sound of the cracking tree. "I'm not even human. I'm an experiment. I was dead the second they put me on that table. I'm a freak." He collapsed against the tree he'd just felled, eyes leaking warm tears. "I... I was never... human."

(A hand fell upon Mirakel's shoulder, the grip frim enough for him to know the fingernails of the one who did it. It was her. She had listened to him with a subdued silence, her concern growing but knowing that it would be wrong to interrupt him. Rish knew that he had to play it through, to see for himself that he could. It had to go through his mind so he could accept it, that it happened, and that he wouldn't simply fall into the shallow human frailty of denial that something would have ever happened to him at all. To be honest, Rish was glad to see that he was bold enough to confess his darkest secrets to him.)

Rish: Mirakel...you are a human being. I've observed and interacted with your kind for a long time. I know you better than you, in that sense. You asked me if I would want to see a human suffer needlessly. My answer is no. I would not. I have come to understand that humans can have value, that they can accept what is around them and adapt instead of destroy. The men who did this to you were cruel, and would deserve death if I could find them. For you, however, I can only feel sorrow.

(Many a times, she had witnessed unnecessary torture and atrocity. She regarded humans as still barbaric at times, even dangerous. They do kill eath other, but there is a great deal of difference between that and outright torture to become a science experiment. Rish was close enough now to whisper in his ear, which she did in order to keep his attention.)

Rish: You are not a freak, and you are not an experiment. The scars of the past are just that. Scars. I too have suffered in terrible ways before. I know how you feel. And soon, you will know how I feel, as one like me. I'll erase your scars in the promise of new life, Mirakel.

He felt the grasp on his shoulder, and he stopped crying, but the racking sobs still shook his frame. He heard her speak, and it seemed unlikely that anyone could know what he'd been through. "I appreciate the sentiment Rish. Really I do." He stayed on the ground for a moment, still attempting to control himself after that last outburst. "I... I've never told anyone in any great detail what my life has been like. I guess I just knew that... I'm endebted to you for allowing me the chance to become something more. Something greater."

He stood and looked Rish square in the eye. "Thank you, so very much Rish. You have given this... h-human... hope."

"Thank you, so very much Rish. You have given this... h-human... hope."

(Hope. Yes, that was a good word for it. For who better to be given hope than a boy by the name of Mirakel? It didn't matter to her what he really was. As he looked her in the eye, she could see that evewrything that made him human. The poor boy was now completely open to her, so vulnerable that even the most pathetic of enemy could take him. Only...not while she was here. It was hard to believe that they had ever been on opposite sides now. In any case, she produced a slight smile through her serious concern. The boy had gained her trust, gained her knowledge, gained her friendship, and he would soon gain alot more.)

Rish: Let's go, Mirakel. I think you've been through enough today. It's time we shed that sorrow in preparation for what lies ahead. After all, we both have much to prepare for.

He calmed himself and managed to stand on his own power. Walking unsteadily to his shirt, he was still breathing heavily and somewhat erratically after the strain put on his emotions. "Yes... rest is what I need. Oh, and by the way Rish, are you going to be at the Valentine's dance?" He asked this because Kess would be there, and it would be helpful to his case to become a kitsune if Rish was there to explain what about him would change.

"Yes... rest is what I need. Oh, and by the way Rish, are you going to be at the Valentine's dance?"

Rish: Say what?

(That was right out of the blue... if ever you need to confuse a kitsune, ask them something that suddenly seems to have very little bearing on whatever was currently going on. Rish blinked in confusion at Mirakel. He wasn't asking her out. That much she was certain of. There was some other reason to it, but Rish didn't know what.)

Rish: I hadn't made any sort of plans. Don't you need some sort of Valentine for that sort of thing? Why do you ask?

Mirakel told her. "See, if I am going to become a kitsune, I need to make sure that the people I care about are alright with it. If even one person says no, then I won't do it. However, me being a human, I don't think I could truly tell them what being a kitsune means. That is where you come in." He looked at her but kept walking. "I would like you to explain this to them, so they can make a decision based on facts, and not what I want."

(Well, ask a question, get an answer. It seemed that Mirakel had an alterior motive to having her at this dance of theirs. He wanted there to be a convincing argument for his desire to become a kitsune. It made sense to Rish and she really wanted to help him. And truthfully, it would be difficult for Mirakel to explain the full story on why being a kitsune is any good in reality.)

Rish: Alright, I'll be there, Devil's Advocate on the nature of my being. 'Till then...

(She gave him a bemused smile before changing into a three-tailed greyfox and leaping off into the wilderness. And there went...positively the strangest woman that Mirakel might ever know.)
