Mirakel had asked Zlex to meet him here, just before he'd had to rush off to host his party, which he thought had ended fairly well. Well, if you can accapt the giant fox, the fighting and kicking a young man into his wall good fun. He did, so there was no problem. Stepping lightly into the chamber, he walked over to the control panel and tapped in a few instructions. A row of of robots lined up a few feet away in a neat row, each two feet apart. They were skinny except for their middle, which was rounded and had targets painted on them. "Time for Zlex to get some practice in with that bow of hers." |

Currently tying her long white hair into a messy bun, Zlex walked into the gravity chambers almost timidly and full of wonder. She had never been here before due to her negative feeling towards violence. However, it was time for her to train and she wasn't going to make a big fuss over it anymorel. Done fiddling with her hair, she took her arrow in her right hand and studied her surroundings. "Hello Mirakel." She smiled and walked towards him with more confidence than when she entered the gravity chambers, "I'm a little rusty. I hadn't a need to train with these for a very long time." She admitted as she gestured to the sack of arrows behind her back. They were in two distinct groups marked by a small band at the tip; some red and some blue. Her eyes wandered to the robots and she tilted her head in curiousity. Of course she had never seen such things in her life. Still, they didn't look harmful or even dangerous for that matter. The design on their middle suggested that these were targets. "So, where do we begin?" She asked as if she were expected a huge lecture and lesson on survival.... |

Mirakel turned to look at his friend, and was suprised to see the arrows in the manner that the were. "Hey Zlex, glad to see you here. Are you ready to get some practice in?" He walked quickly to her and gave her a one armed hug. "I've already set up a few rounds of drones to fire at, and as you destroy more, they will begin to get harder to hit." He suddenly noticed something that could become a problem. "Do you intend to train with you arrows marked like that?" |

Zlex cocked her head as she thought about the arrangement of her arrows and how they were so significantly marked for her better usage of them. "Well, yes. It's better for me when my arrows are marked. Why? Is that not allowed here?" She asked genuinely looking a little confused... |

He smiled and walked over to them. "Well, there is no rule against it, but I suggest you find a less obvious way to determine which arrows are which." He pointed to the ribbons. "With these markings, it gives your sister or anyone else a split second to prepare for whatever is coming." He pointed to one of the targets. "As time prgresses, they will learn what you are firing by special markings. If you fire enough of any one arrow, they will be able to deflect it. I suggest you think of something else to help us out." |

Zlex glanced at her arrows with a saddened expression. A little disappointed at such a proposition, she tilted her head and nodded in solemn agreement. "I'm sorry. I've just never dealt with arrows without markings. I've grown up with such distinction between my arrows; although I could always tell which one was which with my eyes closed." She explained. "I don't know if I'd feel comfortable changing something that has been almost like a tradition to me." She added almost apologetically... |

He laughed. "There is no need to apologize. You've had no reason to think about combat preparations, so it is understandable why you would mark them." He gave her a slight hug and looked at her, his eyes troubled. "I just want to remind you of something. All of what I said to Zlax near the end there, I meant none of it. I will protect you as best I can." He made sure to stare at her until she belived him. He smiled and walked to the arrows, reaching out for them. He stopped, just before he made contact. "Can I touch them?" Just for safety reasons, he'd better ask first. |

"I just want to remind you of something. All of what I said to Zlax near the end there, I meant none of it. I will protect you as best I can." Zlex nodded with understanding as her violet eyes glanced back into his. "I have to admit that you were starting to convince me that you had actually switched sides." She confessed, "But in the end I knew you hadn't. It would have been terrible if you had." "Can I touch them?" She couldn't help but laugh as he asked her. It was a question that a lot of people had asked almost as if they were bombs instead of arrows, "Sure you can touch them." She lowered the sack off of her shoulder and held it out to Mirakel, offering them to him. She wasn't too skeptical about her weapons because they had always been faithful enough to her. There was no need to pretend they were some kind of sacred item from the past. "But...don't pierce your skin with them. Although it's never happened to anyone before, I don't want to test out if its effects would still penetrate you." She warned... |

Mirakel smiled and reached out for an arrow marked with red. He hefted its weight, and tested it's alignment. Finding its specifications sound, he moved on to its edge. He snapped his fingers downward like he was opening a traditional japanese fan, and a circle of energy appeared in his hand. It was a smoky white, almost transparent, but he pressed it against the arrow's tip. It looked as if even a dull arrow would peirce the energy, but her arrow marely made a dimple. "Hm." was all he said. |

Zlex raised an eyebrow as she watched intently. She was a little curious to what he was doing with her arrow but she made no attempt to questioned him about the presentation just yet. "What's wrong?" She asked as she examined the arrow in his hand. "Is something about my arrow not right?"... |

Replacing the arrow, he smiled at her kindly. "Actually, those arrows are fairly good. Only the sharpest weapons meke even a slight bump in the energy. To make such a large dimple is quite impressive to me." He gave her a small pat on her back. "Alright, lets get started. Use whatever combination of arrows in attempts to be as accurate as you can." He gave her a sweep of the range, and let her to it. |

"I could do this blind-folded," Zlex mentioned aloud as she held her bow appropriately and took another red arrow and placed it into position, " Because they aren't moving." She increased the tension before letting the arrow whiz out of the bow and into the target. It was a perfect shot that shambled the middle of the machine and created a red resonating light shine from the area. "That's a fire arrow." She explained, pointing to the arrow that was still stuck into the target, "Actual fire doesn't come out of it though; only extreme heat." She glanced at Mirakel for some type of approval from him... |

Mirakel watched happily as her confidence, which was her achilles heel, came forth in a bubbling gush. He watched impressed as the arrow hit the target dead-center, then to see it smolder and begin to melt was another shiver of satisfaction. "Very nice Zlex, very impressive. However, look at them now." Their AI was beginning to take effect, moving from side to side slowly, calculating that in all probability a moving taget would be harder to hit. Also, heat began to rise slowly from their metallic chasis. "They are acclimating to the heat of your arrow. Though it might take a few more hits, eventuall, they will be rendered in effective. Try it now, and go for speed. Make as many hits as you can in ten seconds. It will take that long for them to get the picture." |

Zlex suddenly didn't like the idea of the target machines. They were going to make it harder and harder for her. The speed was no big deal. She had practiced with her bow and arrows at a very young age and the machines would have to move a lot faster than that in order to distract her aim. Shooting as many arrows and making as many hits as she could in ten seconds wasn't bad either. She could easily slip more arrows into the bow and therefore release a multiple at a time. She slipped two arrows into her bow and turned her bow sideways. It was an awkward position to most wielders, but she had learned well how to use it in this position as well. Growing up on a planet of war wasn't such a bad thing when it came down to the skills of the common people (although Zlex was very high on the hierarchy). Releasing the two fire arrows, she quickly replaced two more into her bow and repeated the process. With two arrows on at a time, she had gotten ten arrows out and only two of them missed the target's dead center. This did not seem to discourage her though, for she had never truly raced to beat a time before. "Now what?" She asked getting a little enthused by the whole matter... |

Mirakel watched closely as for the next ten seconds, Zlex would launch volley after volley of arrows into the group of ignorant droids, which were dropping like flies. "Good, good." He moved to the panel that controlled the droids and tapped in some commands. They began to hover, but not in a fixed place. This time, they would move and dodge arrows. "Now here it gets tricky. They've had a chance to analyse you, and now they put theory into practice. use any arrows you want, but take down fifteen in twenty seconds." |

Zlex raised an eyebrow in disbelief. She took one glance at the flying androids before turning her violet eyes back to Mirakel. The look of bewilderment had taken residence on her face for a few moments. "Fifteen of them flying around like that in twenty seconds?" Truly, time was an earthly thing for in fact, time did not exist in nature. Time had not existed on her own planet, either. She had learned time through Madame's help but still her comprehension of time wasn't at all that accurate. And now, the seconds placed on her as it were, she thought of her time as being very short and concise. Fifteen of them, She thought to herself, twenty seconds...well, I'm not sure I can get that many...but I suppose I could try... She turned back to face the robots who were sure to give her a hard time while she aimed for them. "Ok..." She murmured softly more to Mirakel than to herself. She took two red arrows (for she liked the blue ones far better although they weren't used for much more damage than the arrowhead could create) and placed them into her bow the same way she had done with the previous practice. Her eyes darted from one machine to another in a wierd type of calculation that only her race would understand (for she wasn't truly looking at any particular android). Zlex closed her eyes, aiming without any intention of seeing. Releasing the tension, these arrows flew to their destination. Another two arrows were placed in her bow and so on and so forth until the end of her twenty seconds came. She didn't bother looking at how many actually hit for she was a little skeptical about her aiming anyway. "How did I do." She asked Mirakel with a look of uncertainty plastered on her pale face... |

Mirakel had a look of incredulity on his face. Her eyes had been closed the whole time, and she had no idea how she'd done. From his standpoint, all he'd seen was a rain of red flashing arrows smash into droid after droid after droid too quickly even for their advaned AI to dodge. Though the heat of the arrows didn't do their damage, the arrows still shafted clean through them, most ending up spinning crazily on the floor before dying. He moved to wards her and looked her in the eyes. THen he started to laugh. Hard. "You say you're out of practice, and I say thats a load of crap." He turned for her to look at her own handiwork. "Zlex, in twenty seconds, you took out all fifty droids. Thats two arrows a second, plus an extra ten arrows. Sweetie, I think the only thing you need to worry about is hesitation at firing at a live target." It occured to him that this was probably her problem. "You're not out of practice, but you did say you don't like to fight. I think that is your problem." |

Perhaps his laughter had surprised her the most out of the whole situation. Zlex stood there as he laughed and began laughing a little herself.
Problem? She had never viewed it that way. But now, the more she thought of it, her hesitation in any act of violence would be the most harsh blow that would hinder her in her current predicament. Still, the thought of hurting anyone (or anything, for that matter) made her shudder. "I sincerely do not know how I could've done so well. I was sure that I would fail miserably due to my lack of practice. Still, if I have no trouble at my aim or speed....how am I going to be able to train myself against fighting my sister? She's not a droid...she's a breathing being. I don't think I can train for that, Mirakel." She mentioned... |

He looked her in the eye and tried to explain it to her in a way that would inspire her. "Zlex, we're not here to try and learn to hurt her. We're here to teach you how to keep yourself from dyingin a conflict with her. She is tough, but you need to be even tougher." He took her shoulders in his hands. "Its easy to hurt someone, but its hard to restrain yourself from fighting back and lowering yourself to their level." He took one of her arrows and twirrled it in his fingers. "This heat arrow has the power to kill someone almost instantly. Do you use it to do that though? No, you use self restraint and use it for something else entirely." He suddenly snapped his arm out to the side, and the arrow went flying into the wall, giving off extreme heat. "I've had no choice, but you do. You have an inner strength that not I nor your sister will ever have." |

She was silenced by his words for a good while before she eventually hugged him. Pulling away she shook her head lightly as a weak smile shone. "I don't have the inner strength that you think I do. Like Zlax said, it's all a fallacy waiting to crumble. Yes, I have this self restraint within myself...but...It is not something I had to struggle to get. I didn't have to decide for myself that I wanted to restrain myself....it came naturally. Strength cannot come naturally. So, I believe you have more inner strength than I do; you're strong enough to admit to yourself what you lack in...me? I'm too afraid to see it." She murmured as she shook her head. "My sister's tough, I know. I know that she will always be tougher than me....she's motivated by such strong hatred that it overwhelms me everytime I see her face. I guess somewhere inside...I love her....My weakness is far greater than any strength that I have. If I want to become stronger than her...I'll have to destroy the only part of me that has kept her going...Sadly....it's my favorite part of me..." |

Mirakel hugged her back and listened to her and what she had to say. "You're right, we're tough. She and I could battle for days and get nowhere, but you don't have to fight because you can't. Your sister get angry easily, and causes wanton destruction. However, you are always the victim, and always in the right." He cupped her right cheek in his palm. "Don't ever change, I would hate losing the Zlex that showed me a peaceful way of life." |

Zlex smiled once again although she still seemed a little downtroddened inside. No doubt, she did feel a little better, all thanks to Mirakel in the end. "I won't change....I don't think I can...It's kind of hard to change something you've lived your whole life believing...." She murmured. "And I'm glad I could be of any use to you, Mirakel. Lately, it seems like all I've been capable of doing is hurting others..." She shook her head. She never wanted to hurt anybody...she never wanted to drag everyone in her war with her sister. She just wanted the world to live in a happy society where no pain and misery resided... |

He laughed heartily. "Oh my dear Zlex, that is a contradiction of a most grevious type. You say that you cannot hurt anyone, yet you say that is all you've done. Now tell me for a certain, can you, or can't you?" He placed his hands on his hips and waited for an answer. "And no semantics. Straight up answer please." |

Zlex thought about what Mirakel had pointed out and had noticed that it was true; she was contradicting herself and she hadn't even realized it. She laughed as she shook her head. "I'm sorry. I didn't notice that. I can't hurt people physically, but eversince I came to earth, I've been hurting people emotionally. I don't know how it happens...But...it happens." She explained to him. "So perhaps the contradictory was necessary...maybe just a little..." She tilted her head and smiled at him. "You can do something...yet not do it all at once, can't you?" She questioned... |

"Well, if that is true, then nothing would ever get done. If you're going to do something, do it all the way." He placed his hand on her head and ruffled her hair. He smiled and chuckled. "Besides, you're not all that dangerous to people. Look at me? I'm a pushover and you haven't hurt me. I think you've only hurt those savages from your home planet. Zlax is the only one on the entire planet angry at you, right? Those that hate you are the evil ones, right?" |

Zlex paused for a moment. Was Zlax truly the only person mad at her from her planet? No...no there were others. Only the ones who knew her as a rebellious alien hated her. Others who weren't too close to the nobility status hadn't even heard of her before. And no doubt, she believed that the aliens who didn't quite make it were all angry at her. But for the meantime, the only one she really needed to account for was her sister. Everyone else could very well be dead. "Yes...perhaps she is the only one that hates me." Zlex murmured thoughtfully. But she couldn't be too sure of that. There were people on Zlax's side too. All of them were sure to have hated her at one point and time. Yet, the reason for their hatred may very well be caused by her sister's beauty and the fear they have of her. "As for being evil...I don't classify anyone as being evil. That would be putting them into a category that is too strong for them to live up to. I've seen evil...evil in the flesh and evil in the spirit....Zlax may be a monsterous being...but she's far from the evil that she ran from. But...her hatred is rather pointless...." |

He smiled and gave her a playful little tap on the shoulder. "See? Now isn't it easier to see what is really going on with someone to help? You are a good person!" He stressed every word in this last sentence. "You may be right, that evil is too strong a word, but anyone with a truly good heart would never be hurt by you, or hurt you. Again, look at me." He had her look him in the eyes. "I would never hurt you, and you have never hurt me." He dropped his hand, his reasons exhausted. "You need to realize all of the things I've said are true. I can only do so much." |

Because now she actually understood more than she could have by herself. And he was right in every aspect that he spoke of. "Thank you, Mirakel." She murmured as she pulled him into another hug, "You're the only one who's ever tried to help me understand. I appreciate everything you've done for me. "Hey," he said smiling, giving her chin a playful little tap with his knuckles. "We're friends. And friends help each other out, no matter what kind of trouble they're in. Right?" He hugged her back, giving her a warm shoulder to lean against. He pulled away and smiled some more. If she couldn't fight her sister into provocing a battle, at least now she was more confident and less submissive. Though she may never get a chance to use that bow as an offensive weapon, at least now she believed that there was someone to protect with it. Herself. |

"Then I'm glad you're my friend. I promise I'll repay you one day, Mirakel. I mean it. Somehow, I'm going to repay you for everything you've given me." Zlex exclaimed rather confidently. Her face had brightened and she already sounded more enthusiastic than before. "You'll see, Mirakel. I'll repay you in full. It might take me awhile to figure out how to do it, but I'll do it nonetheless." Her words were sealed and stamped within herself. She was going to do for him what he'd done for her. "I'll make myself stronger so you won't have to concentrate on protecting me against Zlax. I'll force myself to be so strong that I might be able to protect you one day!" She laughed... |

"Yes, one day you'll be acknowledged as the sweet, understanding protector who enabled me to be the benevolent and wonderful person I am." She continued with a bright grin. "And then they'll know that I couldn't have accomplished anything without you. They'll never hear my name without yours coming soon afterward." She paused for a moment. Mirakel hadn't noticed that the whole time they'd been talking, the bots had been replaced and they were still moving around, some getting uncomfortably close. "Yeah... they're making me a little weirded out too." He took her by the arm and led her to the door. One bot moved in the way of his movements, and he actually had to physically push it out of his way. "I don't know whats going on, I programed them to stop when there was an inactivity for at least a minute. Why are they still..." Antoher moved in the way, and he pushed it away, but this time, it pushed back, shoving him back a foot. A look of confusion crossed his face, when a third crashed into his back, knocking the wind out of him. His head struck the floor, and he was knocked unconscious. The droids began to advance on Zlex, slowly but surely. |

"Mirakel!" Zlex cried out as she saw him hit the ground. She didn't understand what was going on at all as the droids began to close in on her. Weren't they supposed to stop? Her violet eyes darted from one droid to another and she found her hands quickly grabbing a few arrows and placing them in her bow. She aimed them at the closest robots and sent them to their destinations as her hands quickly grabbed more arrows. This time, she grabbed the white arrows that she hadn't used earlier in the session. Sending them to the targets, the area that the arrow hit instantly became transparent as if a whole chunk around the area had been destroyed. However, the arrow still clung to the invisible area as if the metal hadnot been destroyed at all. She began to make combinations with her arrows, both white and red at a time until she wasn't backed into a circle full of droids anymore. Zlex glanced around a little nervously as if she expected thousands more to come her way. cautiously, she made her way over to Mirakel's side and gently shook him. "Mirakel? Are you ok?" She murmured as she kneeled by him. A few more droids still moved toward her as she did so but she did not concern herself with them. They were still at a considerable distance from her and if they got too close, she'd be ready... |

He moaned, a pounding in his head made sure he remained disoriented. Was he standing? Was he laying? Was he spinning as fast as he felt? He felt so nauseous that he was about to tell Zlex to move so he could retch. But he didn't, instead he woke, vision blurred and only shapes swimming before his poor vision. "Zlex... w-watch out. They're still learning... the control pannel will turn them off. Get to it before...." A swift movement caught his rippling sight. "Above you..." He tried to move, but it was falling right above them. A droid was going on the offensive, falling from a hundred feet. Mirakel feebly pushed Zlex away, she would get away, and that was all he needed for a final act. |

Zlex cried out as Mirakel pushed her away and her eyes finally noticed the falling droid that he saved her from. She didn't give herself time to panic or to stall. Instead, she raced toward the control panel and glared at all of the buttons. Her eyes widened in confusion. She didn't know how to work the control panel! She tried to concentrate as she viewed them all over and over. Where was the off switch? By the time she noticed the red button that would shut everything down, she had pressed many buttons in trial and error. She was two seconds away from being ripped into two by a droid when everything shut down and the lights cut off. She plopped on the ground under the panel as her chest heaved in heavy breathing. She hadn't noticed how scared she was until after she had tried to calm herself down. In that instant, she remembered Mirakel and she crawled her way back to him. "Mirakel?" she whispered as if any louder sound would destroy the dimension, "I'm so sorry, Mirakel. I tried my best and I..." She trailed off as she shook her head, a little disappointed in herself. She caressed his face and stroked his hair waiting for him to respond to her... |

His face was deathly pale, and his breathing was shallow. Though she had stalled in the shut down, it was still quick enough to allow him to move partially out of the way. The bot fell on his lower half after shut down, but he was suprised. The bot must have missed, for he didn't feel any pain. No pain at all. He mumbled some words so low that he was unsure if he even spoke them. Light whispers, less than breaths even. "Zlex... you're safe... and I'm happy." His last words before he slipped back into oblivion were, "Kessy... sorry..." |

Zlex hadn't heard his first words. All she heard was something about Kessy and an apology that followed. Her violet eyes began to water as she shook her head from left to right. "No, Mirakel. Come on, you have to stay with me!" She cried as she shook him a little more. But all was in vain and she began to panic. He had mentioned Kessy. However, she didn't even know who Kessy was or where she could find her. The only thing that ran through her mind was getting Mirakel help before something even worse evolves from this. "Mirakel, I'll get you to the nurse. Please, hold on." Zlex explained with a few tears falling down the length of her cheek in a pattern. She wasn't sure if she was strong enough to get him there by herself; she hadn't trained herself to be strong like her sister did. But even if she could reach her sister in time, she doubted that Zlax would help her do anything. She swallowed hard as the seconds ticked by and soon, she ran out of the room. Her eyes darted left to right for anyone who could help Mirakel. Anyone who was stronger than her would suffice. Just as she was about to sprint through the halls, she saw Roberts. Oh, good old Roberts from the old days. A friend she longed so much to see. But now wasn't the time for happy reunions and she found herself tugging him into the room and pointing at Mirakel. Her words ran together in a mush that was altogether confusing to understand. The only words that managed to overcome the others were 'Mirakel' and 'nurse'. But it didn't take a genius to realize that the predicament was pretty bad. "It's ok, lad." Roberts assured her as his eyebrows furrowed in concern. He was going to ask Zlex a ton of questions whenever they got to the nurse. But for now, he picked Mirakel up and placed him over his shoulder even though common knowledge was to leave the person there and go run for help. Still, it would be faster if Roberts took him. Zlex hastily opened the door and walked out behind Roberts on the quest to the nurse.... (hey, I'll make the new topic at the nurse...but...I'm a little tired right now. I'll do it first thing tomorrow ^_^ ) |
