It had only been a few days since the accident... well, maybe a week. She couldn't hold both her suitcases at once. Everytime she lifted up, her fingers would buckle under the weight of the suitcase. She kept trying to switch the suit case, or make the left one lighter, but it was a no-go. She tightened her left hand's grip on the handle, prayed, and lifted. The fingers held. She walked forward a few steps, but the fingers buckled and opened under the weight of the leather covered handle. She cursed loudly, and collapsed to her knees, crying. She lost her balance and fell flat on her back, skinning the back of her elbows. She just laid there. Everything that had been happening to her all came up in a flood. She gripped her left elbow, tears running down her face. She hadn't officially cried out of sadness through the whole ordeal. Not a tear from phantom pains, and not a tear from her surgery. Her left arm was gone. Right up to the shoulder. |

There was no exclaimation of worry or concern, as the sound of footsteps hastily approaching reached the girl's ears - the steps came to a stop by her side, and a female figure with striking azure blue eyes loomed over her for a moment, then the unknown newcomer started kneeling down, two slender fingers reaching out to touch the skinned elbow for a moment, before the hand opened fully, turned and became an outstreched, silent offer of help. The dull pain of the scraped elbow had disappeared entirely, as by some miracle, the moment the blue-eyed girl had touched her - as had every other pain in her entire body, including any phantom pains there was. They slowly returned as soon as the girl stopped touching her, but the hand was still outreached, an unvoiced offer to help and soothing. Tamara did not once look upon the spot where this girl's left arm should have been - she could sense the emotions turmoiling around the girl, and she did not want to act patronizing. "Who are you ...?" |

Aaiiry looked up at Tamara, her eyes still wet with tears. She smiled halfheartedly, and took Tamara's hand, pulling herself up to her feet. She used only her right hand to do everything. Her left hand just hung lifelessly at her side, almost like it was shut off. There was a little rip on her forearm, revealing a metal limb, a prothstetic. It was attached to her arm from the shoulder, the socket competely hollow. She moved her left hand's fingers, and held her left wrist, testing it back out. She still had tears in her eyes; she was just acting tough because there were people around now. "I... I'm Aaiiry Bluderaine. Your name is...?" |

Tamara's grip were firm, but not crushing, as she helped Aaiiry back on her feet: a warm smile had lighted up the delicate features of the young girl, the moment Aaiiry had accepted her help. As before, all pain disappeared upon touch. Tamara glanced at the injured spot, then her gaze travelled back up in Aaiiry's face; the air around her radiated compassion, but not pity. She did not want to let the girl know how much she felt with her. Her face remained unaffected, though; she had still not let go of Aaiiry's hand, but squuezed it lightly in greeting, with a slightly focused expression on her face. She kept staring on the injured elbow, holding it for awhile longer, before finally releasing. "Tamara Oliveira. Tamara or Mara, whichever is preferred." Any phantom pains would be returning - Tamara could only temporarily deceive the pain center - but not for another half hour. The pain of the scrapes were gone, however. As were the scrapes themselves ... The skin was not even tender after the short healing. Tamara finally broke her stare, shaking her head. It felt light - as if she had had alcohol, or were on the brink of fainting. She weren't; the healing had not taken that much out of her. It was also the extend of her healing capacity, however, curing tiny scrapes and cuts. She realized that her smile had been fading, and she immediately put it back up, with renewed strength as she looked up on Aaiiry. "Welcome to the school. Are you a new student?" |

"..No. I'm actually a pretty old student here. You look un-battle jaded." She smiled as she said it, semi-sarcastically. "You must be new." Aaiiry scratched her fingernails across her wrist, pulling up a skin covered glove on her hand. She pulled it off, revealing a metal hand, ball-bearings and all. She pulled out a little oil can, trying to fix the fingers of her left hand. They were faulty, and all the technology in the world couldn't seem to hook up her human nerves to the fingers of that arm. As she played with her fingers, she noticed the healing taking effect, but didn't really notice-notice. Being a healer herself made her a little jaded from fighting and the blood that came with healing. Well, the blood that came with her kind of healing. "Are you a healer or an empath? Or both? You strike me as an empath." |

Tamara smiled gently and inclined her head slightly to the side, in silent recognition of that, to Aaiiry's point of view, Tamara -was- new. To her, it seemed rediculous - she felt as if she'd lived on AHS for half an eternity already. Had it really been so little time? It was amazing how so many world-changing events, could take place within such a short time-frame. "Un-jaded .. I have seen my share of battles," her expression drew for a moment down in remembered pain, and she winced, banishing the memories to the deepest recesses of her mind. "Or so it feels, at least. I do not welcome more. Is it, however, unavoidable here." "You have a keen perception to have noticed it; many people do not comprehend what an empath is, and do not recognize it when they see one. I am indeed an empath, though I wish I could lay claim to both - healing physical wounds, I am sorry to say, has never been a strength of mine, and healing superficial bruises is the extend of that ability. I don't think it will ever grow beyond that - I can feel my own limitation. So my purpose in life is not to heal your body - but to heal your soul." Tamara reached swiftly down after the last statement, picking up the second suitcase, and straightened back up with it with the obvious intent of carrying it to wherever Aaiiry needed it brought to. Her expression became slightly inquisitive as she once again regarded the other girl. "I cannot discern the nature of your own gifts ..." She left it hanging in the air like a question. |
