Lupis had become a friend of circumstance, from their initial encounter on the mountain to the hospital bed after the metal attack. Brian only ever seemed to see Lupis when he had been injured or changed in some way. While he had been searching the campus he really discovered he knew next to nothing about Lupis besides the facts surrounding when he got injured.

Still because Brian had supported him and talked him though tough times he felt some responsibility to tell him about what was going on. That wasn’t the only part it was the fact that he too had suffered the mental attack, Lupis deserved to know about what was going on as much as Brian felt for his own sense of mind.

Brian walked over to the punching bags; he’d seen Lupis as a girl wailing on these poor abused bags. Though half of them looked brand new, a mantra of self-control plastered on the wall nearby. Brian grinned, that note was probably ignored more often than taken to heart. Even his own mentality had distanced itself from control towards the chaos of his feelings and assertion of his own powers to protect himself from anything.

Lupis didn’t seem to be here, maybe if he hung around here for awhile Lupis would arrive. So he hoped at least, Lupis was the last piece of this quest to tell his friends he was leaving, after this he’d set a date and meet everyone in Rome.

Brian pulled Tlachtga’s strap up over his head and placed the spear against the wall, a tip of the spear pointing at the mantra of self-control. Brian stretched a bit for the feel of energy moving through his body before he walked to one of the new punching bags. Not a second went by before he started, ducking weaving and seemingly pummeling into the bag. Though through the warm up the bag never seemed to move much.

Lupis walked into the gym, his mind rather occupied. He was still dwelling slightly on the incident with Mishima -- it wasn't losing that bothered him per se, it was the complete absence of a chance to fight back at all. He didn't really think -or even entertain the the notion- that further training would somehow strengthen him against psychic attacks, but it was always a little cathartic to really wipe himself out in the gym. Besides, training usually lead to a blessed absence of conscious thought that let his subconscious wrestle around with anything that was bugging him.

It also served as a distraction from the scent of students' chi that was now fading in and out almost constantly now. He tried remembering what it had been like when he had lost the power. He would have sworn on any holy text someone cared to mention that it had vanished entirely at once, but his memories of that time were admittedly fuzzy. His memories of the events immediately prior to the loss were almost frighteningly clear -- he still had nightmares occaisionally. After that, though, the first week or so in the hospital blurred together. Had his chi-scenting flucuated like this before finally shorting out and vanishing? He didn't think so. It was more of an annoyance than anything, but a persistant annoyance.

Let's see... he thought. Warm up at the punching bags, then we'll work from there...

He cracked his knuckles as he headed over to the punching bags. His mind flashed briefly to the last time he had made use of them, and he couldn't help but cringe slightly. He hadn't actually repressed the memory, but it wasn't something he wanted to dwell on. Of course, it helped that he had managed to keep it mostly secret.

Lesse... Harker, Rufus, Jason, annd Brian, he thought, mentally ticking off the people that had found out about his transformation. Speaking of which...

He saw the red-furred student apparently giving one of the punching bags hell. The scene was emphasized as he got a wift of Brian's chi full across the nasal receptors. The chimera was stronger than Lupis had thought, if his energy was any indication. He vaguely noted that the punching bag didn't seem to move.
"Hey," he said as he drew near.

Nothing, nothing but the stretch of skin, the air moving, and his specific brand of energy, everything that he was aware of surrounded his own form and the opposite in the room for him. It had been so long since he had been so relaxed using his powers. Every burst of energy didn’t seem to drain him so much anymore. Brian’s body twisted and danced around the bag, striking with precision and control. The bag would not budge seemingly despite Brian’s assault.

When Lupis approached and called him from the world of blasts and control he had created. The bag took its first real hit his palm jammed into the side; it swung meekly without the impact intent. Brian smiled though he had been fortunate to indeed see Lupis here today not long after his hopefully prediction.

Lupis cast off the typical greeting, even though Brian had a pretty large issue to wallop the guy with. Brian wondered if Lupis would be interested at all in finding out more about this subtle manipulation going on. At least for as far as Brian had been feeling it.

“Hey Lupis, I’ve been looking for. I have some news, about that mental attack we suffered a few weeks back.”

Brian looked probingly at Lupis’ expression hoping to catch some glimmer of notice for him to be suffering the same afflictions. Brian only hoped that he wasn’t the only one going slowly insane as events and people were causing him to be more suspicious, and more paranoid of people around him that he didn’t know.

“I was contacted by someone interested in my situation, claimed they knew about what was going on. That a place in Rome has the answers for me, and I thought you’d be interested in any lead. Unless you’ve already found out something.

Lupis raised an eyebrow at Brian's blunt statement. It seemed he wasn't the only one that had been thinking about their attempted 'enlightenment'. He hadn't been suffering from raging paranoia -at least not more than usual- but he also hadn't been interacting with very many people. Now that he thought about it, Brian was the first person besides his roommate that he had really spoken too since the incident. He had talked to others, of course, but very little beyond a greeting in passing.

"They know something about Mishima?"

If Mishima had been working with someone in his attempt to stir up revolution, Lupis was of course interested in knowing who. He wasn't the type to set out on a crusade for the sake of the school, or something like that. He was, however, the type who would fight people willing to dick around with people's minds. It was, he reflected as he felt the demon stirring, something of a personal issue.

"You were right about me wanting to know," he said, shoving the demon back into his subconscious before it could say anything. "But are you sure this person can be trusted?"

The very first line of Lupis’ return statement seemed to disable anything Brian could say in response. Had they said something about Mishima? No not really all they had said was about the manipulation he was under, about the aliments he seemed to be suffering from. Were there really any answers about Mishima?

While Brian hesitated, and struggled to put some sense to Lupis’ now disabling statements. Lupis had moved on regarding the merit of those that they would get the information from. Another consideration that Brian hadn’t completely thought out. The people they would be meeting absolutely untrustworthy. Getting information from them on the other hand, he was sure that they would give it.

“They told me it was about the manipulation going on. While they aren’t good people, or decent. I think the information that could be gathered, would be worth anything risked. If that is what you’re asking me. The decision is on your plate but I’m going.”

If his will had faltered even in the slightest from the steely resolve in the face of logical thinking it had whipped back into shape in the moments after Lupis had finished speaking. Whatever Lupis decided now, he was just glad he had filled Lupis in on the possibility of whatever might be happening in the next few days.

Lupis noticed the slight hesitation in Brian's face when he asked about Mishima. Some other manipulation, then -- though not one Lupis knew of. He decided not to press it, since it was obviously something personal to the other student. He knew that he didn't like people digging around in *his* personal life, and he returned the favor -- mostly, anyway. Lupis knew that there was a time when a little digging was needed, but this didn't strike him as such a time. Brian had, really, given him what he needed to know. Brian -or other students- were subject to some sort of manipulation, and the answers were apparently in Rome.
"Of course I'll come," he said, wondering for a moment why he was rushing in so readily.
Answer, he thought. Because the type of manipulation he seems to be talking about freaking pisses me off.
"It sounds like you'll need someone who can be insanely paranoid on demand," he said. "And that happens to be part of my particular skill set."
He was only half-joking, though he spoke with an almost complete seriousness. It sounded like Brian would be dealing with some nasty characters, and a little paranoia couldn't hurt.
