The occasional snaps of frail branches was the only startling ambient within these frozen woods. Including the rare caw of crows and the eerie whispering of the cold wind, the forest was a desolate place. Its vast territory bordered the school and the world beyond its hollow atmosphere. It was a blank void in the midst of life. It was normal. The earth naturally changed dramatically every year. This being the season of winter, was the conclusion to the current form of the forest. It was a cold day, leaving it empty of Human contact, or almost any other life at that. Only the solid would deliberately travel through this wondrous place at this given time. Those who are not known to be made of ice. In one particular area of the forest, a single crow sat. Waiting on a strong branch for its master. The sounds of heavy footfalls could be heard fast approaching. Whoever it was did not respect the peace, or they could not have done anything about it as they succumbed to gravity. The forest floor was naturally decorated with snow, but it had not snowed for several days, leaving the snow to freeze by the cold wind. The crunching emanated from the location of the incoming stranger, who soon found himself halting. Romeo gazed up at the cloudy sky as a white pedal gracefully fell from above. He held out his gloved hand, awaiting for the pedal to rest on his open palm. Strange, but not so strange. He could not possibly find a conclusion to this mysterious display of fate, but such strange things occurred about him occasionally. Thus, it was no alarming news to him. Winter pedals. That is what they were called. They grew in spring, and dropped during winter. The longest lasting form of plantation other than pine. To have one fall down to him from the heavens was a blessing. So he thought up himself. He shifted his gaze forward, and continued to make progress; letting the pedal loose. Where he was going, he did not know, but he had an odd fetish for what there was to see during this season. Romeo, disturbing the silence about, soon found himself stopping again. This reason was not like the last, but it was the most common one. He heard a caw adjacent to him from above. It was Drunzer, his crow. This particular crow always followed him. Though, he never knew why it wanted to grab his attention when it never communicated the reason why. It just did, and that was all he knew. When Romeo shifted his gaze toward the crow, it took off, encircling him from above. Keeping an eye on him. For a reason Romeo also did not know. The only thing he knew about it was that it was always there, and just that. What anonymous purpose it may one day serve was not apparent, nor would he guess it would ever be. Not for a long time anyway. Ignoring it, Romeo pressed on in his random travels. |

Some people found the cold unbearable. They never truly were able to understand the beauty of the numbing air wrapping around them, making them more aware of the places around them. So many forced themselves to tense up, and totally missed the soothing capabilities of the frozen air. William had been raised in an environment that had winters that could be considered bad. Not arctic, but bad enough that many prefered the inside. He never did. He always loved just going outside, sometimes in a coat, sometimes not, it didn't matter to him. And as hard as it was to believe, no matter how much or little he wore in the frigid weather, he never got a cold or sick. It was as if the second his body was exposed to the cold, his immune system strengthened itself, rather than weakening like most people. He could guess that by the fact that as soon as it got warm, he would find himself stricken with the flu or some other strange disease that wasn't naturally found in the spring or summer. Of course, he still didn't want to take any chances around this time period. His mysterious 'Day of Sickness' was due any day now, and he wanted to be in as good as shape as humanly possible before he was reduced to throwing up all day and feeling as if every little bit of strength of him was taken away. So, he was bundled up, a heavy coat wrapping around him, proving a good barrier between the winds and him, a cap protecting his head and ears, a scarf around his neck, and long pants to stop the wind at his legs. He would have usually complained about having to put on so many layers, but the memory of the last bout he had only 26 days ago was fresh in his mind, and the 8 day window that usually found itself, 4 days before the end of the month to 4 days in to the new one, open to it changed his mind heavily. He walked through the forest, a small smile seeming to be permanently sewn in to his features. He couldn't help but smile as the snow crunched underneath him, reminding him that, unlike home, there was snow here, at least this year. He had been estatic going from the extremely mild winter of his home, which was unusual, to a place that seemed to be ruled by the kind of weather he loved more than anything else. As he moved through the forest, his shadow, behind him due to the sun, weaved and bobbed around the indentations in the snow he made with his shoes, seeming to try and stay closer to his body than it should, judging by the sun's angle to him at that point. William never really noticed this, he never watched his shadow all that much. The incident had occured about 6 months ago, and after months of watching his shadow and seeing nothing new, he had just ignored it. Of course, he never knew that it was the fact that he was ignoring it that it was acting that way. He finally stopped, closing his eyes as another cold burst of air caused the temperature of the air around him to drop considerably. He looked around, enjoying the sight of the frozen forest, when suddenly another sound reached his covered ears. As with anyone in the cold weather, his senses were heightened, just because his entire body was tensed due to the cold weather. The crunching of snow warned him of either another human or an animal. He concentrated, trying to distinguish the sound, and after realizing that he had no true way of doing that, sighed and opened his eyes. 'Well, might as well check it out.....,' he thought, curious about whatever else might be in the forest. He pulled his exposed hands from the pockets of his jacket and started a light jog towards the source of the other sound, hoping that if it was human, that they would not mistake him for an animal. In a school filled with hormone driven children who had powers, someone thinking he is a potential threat is not something he wanted. Especially not if those powers were destructive. |

His time here was progressively morphing into bemusement. Romeo had to agree that the climate was nice and such, but there really was not anything to do. Absolutely nothing. It would be best for him to turn back, as he would die of boredom if this forest continued on and on in this particular direction. Perhaps he should get to know the layout, especially when things are not so familiar. There was a school nearby by which he knew of. It was surrounded by an uncommon layer of terrain; a lake, a mountain, a waterfall, and this forest. Who could ask for any more? Add the fact that the school was gargantuan in size, one could identify this area as an amusement park. In which case, there was also a lot of people to talk to. Drunzer had observed him for only a moment before it left off somewhere. Where it had gone to, Romeo did not know. He guessed that it had not really flew away, and that it was still spying on him, except that it knows that he does not sense its presence any longer. He sighed and stopped to gaze around him. Nothing but the leafless trees and the vague light between each one. As cloudy as it was, the sun was only able to glimmer slightly. When he thought about it, this place was not really pretty, but ugly instead. No, it was pleasant. Romeo may have just gotten sick of seeing the same thing every step he made. Romeo changed his mind about continuing, and turned to make his way back to where he had came from. As he was making progress, and after several minutes of thinking unto himself, he heard the sound of footsteps dashing through the frozen snow at an eager pace. This was unexpected, thus Romeo felt alarmed. He immediately leaped to the nearest tree, and rested his back against its hollow shell. The sound was coming from the other side. As it neared, he identified it as a person's presence at a light jogging pace. Probably some random person enjoying the outdoors and getting a little excersice. But when he peeked over the side of the tree, that was not so. A student, who was shorter than he, and clad in many layers of coating made his way to where Romeo had been standing just a moment ago. The teenager was light-complexioned and had auburn-colored hair. He did not look dangerous, but Romeo felt the person's tension, which told him that he was incoming with intent. May as well show himself, it would ease up the stranger's curiosity if need be. Romeo stepped out from concealment, and looked upon the stranger from a distance. |

William had a pretty good idea of where the noises had come from. Though he wasn't all that strong physically, his hearing had become a lot better than most people's. Nothing along the lines of meta-human, but he could identify sounds that were much quieter than most people his age. Though, he found that a good trade for his eyesight, which was bad enough that anything farther away from him than his hand was blurry without his glasses. As he passed through the snow, he looked up quickly, seeing a bird flying overhead, directly from where he was going. A coincidence, most likely, but still something he logged in his mind as interesting. He finally came upon the spot where he thought the sounds had been coming from. But, he realised quickly that his target had dissapeared, and that there was no sign of whatever it had been anywhere. As he looked around quickly, he remembered something that he had been hearing a lot in his stroll, the crunching of snow. He looked down, and quickly identified a set of footprints in the frozen ground which wasn't his own. Of course, having to differentiate between that and the pawprints of the many animals that walked through this area wasn't exactly easy, but it was a lot easier than just looking around aimlessly. 'So it was a person.... Did I scare them away?' he thought slowly as his eyes followed the frozen foot steps. As he continued to follow them, he soon found himself staring at the source, who had obviously moved somewhat during the time it took to find him. What William saw really didn't hurt the situation, but it didn't help the fact either. The man in front of him, way too fully grown to even be considered a teen anymore, was what some people would call breath-takingly good looking. Even for another of the same sex, there was no denying that this guy was good looking. And in a haunting way too, with white hair and blue eyes that made him seem even colder than the air around both of them. William just continued to stare, not exactly knowing what to do. His curiousity was something that was considered a definite double edged sword. One one hand, it was a great aspect about him, loving to learn, always trying to figure things out. On the other, sometimes it got him in to trouble. The most common thought that went through his mind at times was, 'So now what?' He always seemed to have a bad habit of investigating things, but once they were found out, having no idea what to do next. Especially with finding other humans. He just continued to stare, his mind racing. He was mostly thinking about what to do next. He had been wondering who else could possibly be in the forest as well, and had gone to check. Now that he knew, he was pretty much stuck for what to do afterwards. He looked down, trying his best not to stare and to figure out how to talk to this person, who was just staring at him. It was like his own little way of gathering his thoughts and finding the best way to deal with the situation, and that was to be horribly akward for the first few minutes of contact. If he suceeded, he would be able to lighten up. If he didn't, and they continued to talk, the horrible akwardness would continue, and what little interest people had in him usually turned to amusement at the boy's attempts to engage in normal conversation while staring at this feet. He quickly looked up, trying not to start that again, and said, "Hi. You like this weather too?" Pathetic attempt at conversation, yes, but an attempt none the less. He was never good at starting conversations, especially with someone looking so 'formidable' standing right across from him. Slightly shy and introverted, and having never been forced in to a lot of situations like this, he was grasping at straws mostly. |

Romeo glanced to his right using only his pupils before replying to the boy's introduction, "Yes, it is quaint piece of art." Romeo stood at a high six feet four. He wore a black jean jacket along with everything else that represented what he usually wore. The cold did not bite hard enough for him to actually feel anything, thus he had no intentions, unlike the other boy, to cover himself in many layers of clothing. Regardless, what winter accessories did he have? Immune to the cold, it was not necessary for him to purchase any. In public, some may look upon him as desperate to get sick or simply out of his mind, but they were unlikely to define the word meta when it was put together with that of a Human. The stranger seemed nervous, like he wished to grant something even though he did not deserve it. Romeo had pondered when he spoke. Did his appearance frighten others? He knew this to be a random coincidence. Some were allured while others despaired. Impossible for a physical appearance to emanate such a force, yet if it was impossible, it would not have been. "You from around these parts?" he asked, attempting to sooth the stranger. To say that he need not fear to socialize with him, and that he welcomed his presence. After all, it was getting incredibly dull without anybody else. A weak breeze of wind current caused his silver hair to sway slightly. His ice-blue eyes occasionally brimming with energy whenever a new feet of cold temperature emerged then dispersed. |

'He must be cold.....,' William thought as he quickly looked up at the person across from him. The man seemed friendly enough, and the ice cold features he had didn't seem to match totally with his personality. But, it was also something strange, that he could stand the cold so well wearing so little. William didn't even see the slightest form of a shiver coming from the body, and it was truly confusing. 'Someone able to stand the cold so well.... someone seeming so very cold just by looking at him..... Yet, he doesn't seem all that cold.... Wow!' he thought, feeling a lot easier now that the man had at least seemed to be trying normal conversation, rather than just telling him to leave him alone. It wasn't as if he had been quick to judge, but that meant he couldn't tell if he was nice or not at first, nor could he really guess. He smiled, and shook his head, saying, "No, I'm not. I actually just became a student in the school near here. I really like the snow though. We haven't had much snow where I come from. What about you?" It was a lot easier to talk to someone when they showed interest. If there was none, he could just as easily be talking to someone who would rather see him slammed in to a wall rather than suffer his company. He had already had that happen once, thankfully his head was still in one piece. The fact that the other boy had pretty much told him without words that his company was not wanted, and would rather be somewhere else had been a bit more painful than he had wanted. So, he would rather just avoid conversations like that. Suddenly, something came to mind. Upon his first gaze, he could easily have sworn that the man was a full grown adult, and that he most likely lived around here. But then, as he thought more about it, his trip to the school had shown that the school was actually pretty far away from anything and everything else, the closest city being Tokyo. 'Wait.... I didn't see any houses around here in the drive... So.... Could he? Wow!' he thought, and then quickly asked, "Are you a student at the school as well?" His voice betrayed his disbelief in his own hypothesis. Of course, he didn't look all that old, but he didn't look young enough to be a high school student either. |

Romeo felt felicitous, expressing a visage slightly more positive than content. He stepped forward, but only once, before he replied. "No, I'm not from around here at all. I migrated to Japan some time ago. Live in none other than Tokyo. As for my schooling, the school you attend is the same one I attend too," he explained. He inspected the boy's static form when he spoke, sub-consciously searching for any signal of gesture. The boy was listening alright, as if he was interested in what Romeo had to say. "I'm in the twelfth grade, with a job, and looking forward to starting a life of my own," he finished. His gaze loomed down at the ground for a moment as something came to mind. "Though, I came here to strengthen a mutant aspect of mine, and hope to learn as much as possible before my time of leave arrives, " he added. Romeo stepped forward once more, now standing within a standard communication range. "I know why the school was built and for whom. You're not what they call meta, are you?" he asked, his voice carrying a somewhat darker tone. |

William listened to the man's answers and was really happy with them. 'Well, he's a senior. That explains why he looks a lot older than most of the other people here.....,' William thought. It seemed as if the other man wasn't one to give passive answers, at least not totally, so it was a nice conversation. The final comment, however, sent chills down his spine, as if daggers made of pure, unmeltable ice had been shoved down his shirt. He just said that he too went to Anime High School, but it seemed as though he had a bit of a grudge against meta-humans. William couldn't tell just from one sentence, but from that one sentence, it wasn't exactly promising in nature. Swallowing, William said, "Umm... I'm not really sure if I am or not.... If I have a power, I have only used it once, and even the people who did tests on me weren't sure if I was a meta-human or not. I was sent here on more of a 'better safe than sorry basis' than anything else. Not that I regret it or anything......" He wasn't sure what exactly the other was looking for in regards to an answer, but all of the sudden he felt a bit more tense, especially with the final words that the other student had said. "Why? Aren't most people here meta-humans?" he asked, trying to figure out the other's final statement. |

The answer the boy had given him was all that he needed when asked what he did. "Just needed assurance. Haven't been here long enough to know anybody but you, so I was not quite sure if there were other metas like me, " Romeo replied, noticing a slight discomfort in the boy; revealing his own intention to have asked by describing why. "That's all," he concluded. Romeo gazed about for a short moment. Speaking to another in the midst of a forest was usually a hint as to how some would conspiratorially debate or deal. They were not, however. They were just talking like normal people; not exchanging illegal talk covertly. The silence had a discomforting edge, to him anyway. It was like someone was prowling around. He subsided his fear, refusing to let his mind play with itself. Locking his gaze with the young man again, he continued the discussion. "By the way, you can call me Romeo. You are?" he asked, lending a hand. |

'Well that's a relief,' William thought, feeling the relief washing over him like warm water. He had somewhat expected that this other student somehow would have a grudge, of course he knew it was just really a stupid sort of thought, it was still one that he had had none the less. Though they hadn't talked much, the slight conversation they had had so far gave him the impression of Romeo, now that he knew his name, was a good guy. He smiled and nodded, holding out his own hand to shake Romeo's. He responded by saying, "My name is William. It is a pleasure to meet you Romeo." He shook Romeo's hand politely, the smile still not shaking from his face. He was glad he was meeting someone who was nice, and not getting the proverbial kick in the face like he had before. Deciding to continue to conversation, so as to learn more about his new acquantince, William asked, "So, where are you from? It must be pretty cold for you to be able to wear that kind of stuff out here and not get sick." He was very curious about that. It definitely was cold out, even for someone like William. William was one to go out wearing shorts and a t-shirt in a blizzard, but the biting cold of the day proved even too much for him. Yet, here was a guy who was wearing what would normally considered summer clothing, and not shivering at all. |

Romeo absorbed what was said to him before he began to reveal things about himself. "I'm from Germany. Some time ago my parents flew from thence through most of Asia to here. As for my unrealistic adaption. My power comes from the cold. I can say that I am immune to it. I feel it, yes, a whole lot. But what is cold to you is warmth to me." There was an air of silence as Romeo turned to face the opposite direction. He held out his hand before his frozen gaze, imagining, just imagining, a cold blue aura surrounding his open hand. "I hope I don't get too personal, but this cold that you feel now, its like it is the air I have to breath," he said. He sighed then turned to face the boy yet again. "Not to get personal anyway, because after all I am cold, and usually introverted stereotypes are identified as cold," he continued. Romeo smirked before pressing on his words furthermore, "But I'm not like that though. I'm a friendly face." Glancing at the ground for a brief second, he thought up of what else there was to say. "Perhaps you should tell me a thing or two about yourself. Like what you've asked me. You know, where you're from, and maybe your meta ability," he finished. |

"Oh, okay. So your powers mostly center around cold air, so that is why it is so easy for you to like this weather. That's really neat. I wish I had a power like that," William said with a smile, really happy that Romeo had actually told him. He was a lot friendlier than most of the other people he usually dealt with, at least a lot more open, and it was really nice to have someone to just talk with. He wasn't sure how he would have reacted had he met two unfriendly people in one day. He listened to Romeo's question, and thought on it for a second. The first part was easy, it was the second one that wasn't so easy to answer. "Well, as for where I come from, I am American, and though our winters aren't super cold, they still are pretty nice, if we ever get any snow. As for my power, I really don't know myself. I guess it is pretty strange, but I have only used it once in my entire life. I think it has something to do with my shadow, the one time it happened, my shadow attacked someone. And even then, they weren't sure it was my doing, but it was still enough to send me here," he said, thinking back to the day where the strange chains had erupted from his shadow and wrapped around the hands of the man with the gun. It had been a strange day, to say the least. And the next few months had been no better. "I know this is probably more than you want to hear and all, but the people back home still think that I might not be a meta-human at all, and that someone else was using their powers to influence my shadow. But if there was, they never found them, and they had to be safe, so my powers, if they exist, didn't go out of control, so they sent me here," he said, wondering himself whether he was a meta-human or not. If he was, he wouldn't mind, and it would be more of a relief to actually know rather than to be kept in the eternal confines of wondering whether he had some hidden power or was just a normal kid. Of course, if he was just normal, he wouldn't mind either. Either way, he just wanted to know, have some surity. |

He may not be able to freeze a shadow, but he would be able to freeze its inferior source. If the source was inferior at all. Romeo turned to face a nearby tree, and lifted his leg up to rest the sole of his boot against the bark. His right boot felt a little loose, and he could not stand the nuisance of it being so. "I'm thinking of heading back. There's nothing to do out here in the forest, regardless of how vast it is. Plus, I'm hungry," he told William as he tied his boot. Laying his foot back down on the ground and turning to face William again, Romeo continued, "You might have some sort of hidden power. I think you might need to be under some special circumstances for it to unlock itself. From what I imagine, your shadow may have a mind of its own." Romeo stared at William's shadow, inspecting it. It looked normal along with the angle of the currently pale sun. Though, it was staggering to imagine himself being strangled by it. Some power indeed. Facing William, Romeo spoke again, "There's a lot more to this school than the forest. I'm thinking of going to the lake tomorrow morning." Then something struck his thoughts. "Oh, when you stand in water, your reflection slightly differs in location. Perhaps that will tell you something." |

"Oh, okay. I'm not really sure what you mean, but I'll try it. Besides, the lake is probably really beautiful around this time of year, and it would be worth it to go see it, whether it helps me figure out if I have powers or not. As for my shadow having a mind of its own, that would explain a lot, but I still wonder what triggers it......," William said, looking down at it. Whenever graced by attention, his shadow would stay normal, just so as to not be found out. The spirit inside really enjoyed being able to use William's body without anyone, especially William, knowing about it. The only time it ever felt the need to use its precious energy defending its inferior host was when its host was in life threatening danger. It could stand him breaking a few bones, but not dying. It needed him, a good host, for its restoration, and anything that might mess that up was on its list of things to destroy. It had no feelings about William as a person, just as a convenient energy source that it wasn't going to give up any time soon. William continued to stare at it, and then started to laugh, saying, "Well, I think if it does have a mind of its own, it doesn't really like me all that much. It won't even give me as much as a hello." Smiling, he turned back to Romeo and said, "If you're hungry, do you mind if I join you for dinner? I really don't mind eating alone, but eating with someone else is always a lot more fun, mostly because of the conversation. Of course, if you would rather eat alone, I understand." He smiled, wondering how Romeo would respond. He was a nice guy, but everyone had their limits. Some people enjoyed eating alone, just for the amount of thinking they could get done. Either way, William knew he had found a nice person to talk with, and hoped that even if they didn't see eachother later on, that they would meet up again some time during the school year. |

"I was thinking more of eating at the cafeteria. Not into anything fancy, just something fast and tasty," he told William, realizing that noon was slowly approaching. "I'm not sure if I feel like eating with somebody else though. When I eat, I'd like to do so without being bothered. Its a small and distinctive trait, and its me. As for our return to the school, why not travel thither together?" Romeo walked passed William, staring down at the static shape of the shadow, then back up at William. "Actually, I don't care. When we get there, I'll have made up my mind for certain, " he said. Romeo glanced at the vague presence of the sun. If he had felt something watching him earlier, it had to be none other than the light eye of the sky. Out of all the movies he had seen, that could have answered a lot of questions. There was also a real question looming within his mind ."Hey, where were you headed to anyway?" |

William smiled and nodded, saying, "No pressure. I understand it when people just want some alone time, whether that be eating, reading, or doing stuff like that. It's nice of you to tell me though, just so I don't take you not wanting to eat with me as me just being annoying. A lot of people do that, and I am never sure if they just don't like eating around me, or just don't like eating around people period." He followed behind Romeo, enjoying the cold wind from behind the protection of his many layers. He wanted to just pull off all of it and enjoy the wind on his bare flesh, but that was too risky, especially considering the days since he had last gotten sick. He frowned, thinking to himself, 'Aww... darn, it is just too warm in this coat.... Too bad I need it or else this thing would be coming off without a second thought.....' When Romeo asked him where exactly he had been going, he stopped and looked up at the sky, wondering that same question in his own mind. 'Where was I going....' he thought, having totally forgotten about the real goal he had, or might not have had, in mind. He never had a very good memory, and though if he tried, he could easily remember something, sometimes he forgot to remember, which wasn't exactly easy to explain to people. Finally, he started walking again and simply said, "I don't think I was going anywhere. I think I was just going on a walk to enjoy the snow when I heard you. If I was actually going anywhere, it couldn't have been all that important anyway, since I can't seem to remember it anymore anyway." He laughed at the last statement, which seemed to summarize a lot of things he did. He looked up and asked, "What about you? Were you just wandering around as well?" |

"I find the school to be annoying sometimes. Too many people talking about stupid things. But out here, it's all my world," Romeo paused, "As for where I wanted to go, there was no place in particular. Just wanted to free my mind before any schooling actually began." His gazed all about him as he began to make his way back to the school with William traveling abreast from him at a similar pace. "I haven't been here often. Actually, I'm new to the school. You said you were too right? If I recall. Had any classes?" he asked. A single crow flew overhead behind them. Keeping an eye on the both of them, but one in particular. It seemed like evening was drawing close, yet it was only the fall of morning. Climate sure did change the mood of the atmosphere. Another winter pedal silently dropped past Romeo as he walked by it. Then his heart began to feel uneasy. |

"Nope. I just flew in last night actually. This is my first day here. My first classes start next week, though I have to take manditory Japanese lessons in the evenings, whether I have classes or not," William confessed, feeling a bit akward about it. Though he spoke Japanese pretty well for someone who had just started learning a few months ago, there were still parts that he needed advanced studies to grasp, such as the kind of language he would need for classes. Writing was also something he had to focus on as well. His first priority had been to communicate, but now that he was actually in school, he knew he would need to not only be able to communicate, but keep up with others in class as well. And his Japanese lessons were never exactly easy. He sighed, and then smiled again, looking up in to the dreary sky, enjoying the cold air. "I can see what you mean about this being just a personal world.... It is definitely different from the school. So free, calm, peaceful, and in these kinds of forests, it is almost impossible to tell that humans even exist..... Sometimes I hate seeing what cities have done to forests and stuff, but I try not to think about it a lot.....,"he said, trailing off a bit. He always felt bad when he lingered on that kinds of things, like the destruction of nature and such, so he chose many a times to just ignore it in his mind. Some things, no matter how bad, were not meant to be lingered on, not as that age. Taking the weight of the world upon one's soul too soon could easily lead to things he really didn't want. |

Romeo listened intently, then he thought up a reply to continue their unabated discussion, "I moved in a while back, though, I haven't started any classes as of yet, and I have been unable to speak any Japanese." Learning a third language was not easy, especially for one who was not linguistically keen in nature. He hoped that he would not have to learn another language, though, it would not make any sense if he did not have to. For all he knew, he may just have to force information down his throat, as in both the school work and a complex language. William shifted the course of the discussion, now speaking about how affectionate he was of the environment, pertaining to what Romeo had said about the outdoors being his place of selfish relaxation. "I'm no tree hugger, but I too despise the misuse of Earth's wonders. I don't really have any inspiration to fend for it. I think its just normal for us Humans to civilize," he said as he made his way past obscure trees. It was then when it grew cold, not outside, but in the inside. In his body. It was like his soul froze, and along with the pain in his heart, it was if someone stabbed him. "Ugh!" Romeo fell on one knee, holding his heart with his left hand while he used his right for support. His vision blurred and he suddenly felt dizzy, like he was about to pass out. His body went numb, and a thumping sensation ticked within his mind. Romeo envisioned a masquerade. A face beneath a treasure of a mask. An evil laugh, then a terrible, haunting shout. A monster frozen in a large cube on some... "Uh! I can handle it myself..." he said arrogantly, with a tone of anger. Not that he was directly angry at William, but the pain altered his emotions through the painful process. |

William looked up, thinking to himself, before responding with, "Ya, I guess you're right. It is just in our nature.... but the destruction.... I just always think there is a better way than just cutting down trees and stuff, since we are pretty much destroying the planet on which we..... Hey.... are you alright?" His little divulsion in to his own mind was interupted quickly by Romeo clutching at his heart and falling on to one knee. Part of William wanted to rush over to him to see what was wrong, but another part was telling him to stay put, just out of fear. Deciding against the second, he took a step forward, only to be quickly snapped at by Romeo, who obviously seemed hell-bent on dealing with whatever was going on by himself. William just stood there, not knowing what to do. Romeo seemed in pain, and he really didn't know what he could do, or if he could do anything. He just stood there, watching Romeo continue on in pain, his entire body starting to shake slightly, not from the cold, but just from watching that, and from being snapped at. He felt kind of offended and hurt at the same time. But he didn't want to just leave Romeo there. And he kind of understood that people sometimes snapped out without thinking when they were hurt. But, at the same time, it was still hurtful. He shakily asked, "Is... there anything I can do to help?" not knowing if that would earn himself another remark in the tone of the one before or not. |

Everything slowly but surely went back to normal. Romeo soon found time to breath, and his gasping stopped when he did. He was able to stand up on his two feet again, still shaken by the seizure he just had. Whatever it was. He heard William offering assistance, but since he felt his life returning to him, he simply ignored the offer when he was sure he could recuperate. "I'm fine, thanks," he told William, "I'm have no clue what that was. This is the first time it happened to me." Romeo faced his partner and apologized. "Sorry to have caused you this trouble, but there was nothing I could have done about it. If there was an outside force doing it to me, then it was too strong for me to fight against," he explained, "I apologize for shouting at you, but under the circumstances.... You know what I mean." Romeo absorbed the view around him, now suspecting some strange ethereal entity watching them both. There was something there. His crow, Drunzer. Perched on a branch, doing nothing. Whatever had occurred to him was not comforting in thought nor in reality. It had happened on his first day, and that alone could have brought up a lot of questions if he could explain why. Romeo ignored the bird and turned to the path toward the school. "Let's get going." |

"I get it, don't worry," William said, feeling a lot better all of the sudden. It had just been a sudden attack, that's all, and he had snapped in a fit of pain and rage. He sighed, relieved once again. He hated always being on the edge so much, but it really made sense from his background why. Not many people knew about it though, so he didn't want to even be bringing it up in his own mind. He watched as Romeo got up, totally by his own strength, even after what looked like he had been through a lot of pain. That was more than he knew he could ever do. "You couldn't have helped it.... So, don't apologize for something that isn't your fault. I used to do that a lot and my friends always got mad at me," he said, trying to help in the only way he could, by making Romeo feel slightly better inside, even if he couldn't ensure that he would feel better physically. And as suddenly as it had come, it was gone, and Romeo seemed normal again, as normal as William could tell. He followed behind Romeo obediently, not knowing whether to say something or not. At one point, he followed Romeo's gaze and saw a bird, the same bird he had seen flying overhead earlier, and wondered what exactly it meant. He just decided to shrug it off, and then looked back towards Romeo and asked, "So, you feeling better? What exactly happened? If you don't want to talk about it, I understand, I'm just curious." |

His comfort came and went when William accepted the understood the logic behind the apology and when he asked what Romeo experienced. As he made his way, Romeo a saw a break in the number of trees, but further ahead, there was another cluster of shrubbery. The school was close, as he had not gone far when he encountered William. "I can't explain it really..." He card hardly remember. "I'm a fighter, which explains why I had recuperated so quickly." That was a question onto itself. How did he recuperate that quick? The only possible conclusion he could find was that the seizure was weak or that it was out of this world. Romeo was inclined toward it just being a weak seizure, instead of an ethereal force. It was more realistic to believe so, but was lingering in his mind causing to feel an unwanted presence of fear, was it could actually have been something inhuman. The face... He would have to ponder about this, for there could be more to his powers that he thought. To think a shadow with a mind of its own was one thing, but now this? Could there possibly be more to being a meta than what was discovered? It was certain that there will be a day when both him and William would uncover that answer. Romeo would have to sue the creators of comic books who label their comics as fiction, when, according to metas, was reality. There was no discussion for the next minute or so. Romeo and probably William, both pondered about themselves and each other. What had just occurred would have to be ignored if they were to ever smile within the days ahead. Thus, Romeo took the cup to alter his partner's current thinking process, wish he guessed was closely related to his after the seizure. He did not look at him when he spoke, but just walked half-staring at the ground and the view in front of him. "Out of all the years that I had my powers, there was nothing that I faced that related to anything like this," he paused then continued, "I really can not wait to until school starts. I remember I told you I despised the chatter, but it is lonesome without anybody to talk to. It's more lively there." And for the first time, Romeo expressed himself in a way that contradicted the element his body possessed. |

William nodded, understanding that some things weren't clear cut. His powers being one of those things, Romeo's sudden pain being another. It was just an answer he would have to accept. It wasn't like Romeo was hiding anything, at least he didn't think he was. But, at the same time, he was still curious, but knew he would just have to quell that emotion. What Romeo didn't know, he didn't know. And the entire fighter explination definitely explained how he could feel so much pain, and then just pick himself up and start walking without any problem. All he could do was nod in acceptance with what Romeo had said. As they continued to walk, William thought over things in his mind. He had already made an acquantince who seemed like a good candidate to be a friend. He wasn't one to just say someone was a friend, even if he knew the person very well. Though he was naive, that was part of him that wasn't naive at all. He knew quite well that acquantinces and friends were different, and he couldn't expect an acquantince to even come close to being like a friend. But, Romeo seemed like the kind of person he could actually trust, actually tell him how he really felt, whether that be happy, sad, content, jealous, or anything like that. When Romeo spoke again, William looked up from his feet quickly, and nearly laughed at what Romeo had said. He nodded, smiling, and said, "Ya, I can understand. I really find it funny when people say they can live totally without other humans. It just doesn't seem logical, since everyone gets lonely. Of course, some people can actually do it, and I wonder about them. But ya, everyone gets lonely, at least, I think everyone does. At least once in a while." He was just rambling at that point, and was more enjoying the company than anything else. Suddenly, he remembered something, and asked, "Hey, what house are you in?" |

When William had asked him for the name of the house that he was allotted in, Romeo slowed his pace. He expressed bare confusion, obviously stricken by the question. Overwhelmed that he did not know something so fundamental. "Uh, I wasn't given one," he told William, surprised at his own answer. Thankfully this issue had been brought up, for the school was in plain sight. Part of it anyway. It was too big to see it as a whole if you were on a level similar to it. However, from high up in Dragoon Mountain, you could see nearly everything. |

"Oh, really? Well, I think you can get one from the main office if you didn't get one with your registration, it shouldn't be all that hard," William said with a smile, trying to be as helpful to the man as he could be. It wasn't everyday that he met someone like Romeo, and if he could do something to be a help rather than a bother, he would try his hardest. "I'm in Suzaku. I think it's... that way," he said, pointing off to their left, towards the south of the school. He had walked from his dorm building to the forest, so he had a pretty good idea of where he was going. His attention quickly turned as the school buildings came in to sight. There were a few other students in sight as well, probably going on walks themselves, but not wanting to go as far out as the forest, which was too cold for a lot of students at this time of year. Trying to avoid akward silences, William did something he rarely did, but seemed to be drawn to doing with Romeo, starting conversations. "So.... you have a favorite food, or will you eat mostly anything? You're from Germany, right? There has to be a lot of wierd foods there, at least for most of the kids here." |

"I'll eat anything basically." Romeo was not much into food, except that he would prefer healthy meals than the opposite. Since the school was not only large in structure, but in populace as well, there had to be a variety of foods inside the cafeteria. It should not be difficult to find what he would want, unless the lineup was really long. "I'll talk to the administrators and get myself into a house. Other than that, would I be allowed to enter Suzaku even if I'm not registered?" The chance of him being noticed could possibly be high. From what he could see, there were a lot of different people, but none of which had that strong physical feature he came to possess naturally. Then again, it should not pose a problem. "Where is the main office by the way?" If the office was not connected to Suzaku, then he would be better off splitting from William to get registered as soon as possible. Not that it was mandatory, but he was not the type to wait for something that he really wanted. The education would increase his understanding of his power. To know what he could do with it was one of his major goals. |

"Well, if you're new, I don't think that anyone will notice. It's not like they have seen you entering and leaving another house multiple times. And if they ask, it really isn't a lie if you say that you aren't a member of any of the other houses, because you aren't," he said, using a bit of circular logic to get past the little problem of if he could enter the house building or not. He didn't really see a reason why he couldn't, though he did know there was a rule against it. "There is a rule against having people of other dorms in the dorm, but since you aren't from another dorm.... I guess that is sort of a loophole," he said, suddenly starting to feel very unsure about that. If Romeo was caught, and they found out that he wasn't a member of Suzaku, he could easily get in trouble, and then it would be all his fault. Finally, he said, with a lot less zeal than before, "I guess it is up to you, if you want to try or not. I'm not sure." When Romeo asked about the main office, William closed his eyes, trying to remember just how to get there. He knew it was right near the principal's office, which was near the class rooms, which was connected to the courtyard. He started to backtrack in his mind, and then figured it out. He replied simply, "Well, if you enter the courtyard, it is the building right near the classrooms. And the classrooms are the really large building, the biggest ones I think. It's not that hard to get to." He sighed, slipping slowly back in to his normal personality. It had been a good ride while it lasted. "So, are you going to head there before you go off to eat?" he asked, mildly curious, but having his own reasons for asking other than that. |

Romeo thought about it for a moment, then decided on what course to take. He may have been hungry, but he was not too hungry. Registering was a much more important priority to him. "No, I'll go get registered and then I'll get a bite to eat." He gazed across the school, taking in the scenery for the first time. "It shouldn't be difficult to find directions. They're easy enough to get used to." Finally, he turned to face William. "I'll see you around." Then he took off toward the courtyard. When they had passed the borders of the school, the day grew brighter. The sun shone, leaving more students to risk the outdoors. It was still just as cold. More so in the shadows, where the sun did not touch. As bleak as it was, Romeo was inclined toward it. But a small passion within his heart sought the warmth of the sun. |

"Well... See ya then," William said, waving slightly as he watched Romeo walk away. He smiled to himself, saying softly, "Well, at least I started to make a new friend. Who knows? I might actually make one sooner than I thought.... And who knows, I may get my dreams broken in to a thousand pieces yet again if I'm not careful.... again. Well, I guess only time can tell." He sighed, and then brightened up again as he looked up, a few drops of fresh snow dropping from the sky. He laughed, feeling as if the sky was being sympathetic towards him. Letting out a clouded breath, he turned and started to head towards Suzaku. 'Well.... if tommorow isn't the day, I'll go check out the lake.... It should be beautiful this time of year.... And maybe what Romeo said is true. Maybe the lake can slightly shed some light on my mysterious powers.... And tell me if I have any or not,' he thought, making his way slowly through the thick snow, back towards the firey red dorm, which thankfully was kept pretty warm. 'Better to be warm and slightly uncomfortable than cold and sick as a dog,' he thought to himself, before coughing, his throat feeling a bit sore. 'Crud....' |
