Welcome to Ankalima Shae Academy. Being well into the second semester now, most students have already developed some routine for their mornings. Even now, these same students are scurrying through the school courtyard to complement their daily schedules before the bell marked them as late. Whether they hurried to English or ‘Meta-Human Development’, everyone knew their destination. Everyone, that is, except one teen who preferred the sanctuary of the willow-tree to some stuffy building; for Kyoji, its just simpler if his entire universe revolved around the ‘Rolling Stones’ magazine he’d been going through and the Linkin’ Park tracks [“Nobody’s Listening”, “In the End”, etc.] deafening him. His thought? It’d be retarded for anybody to expect him to get it right the first time, anyway. This late into the fourth quarter, chances were nobody would ever hold him accountable for anything. Maybe. Simply put: Kyoji just didn’t need the trouble. Ultimately, when it comes down to it, his only motive in attending Ankalima Shae Academy was an inexplicable consciousness of his impending doom. Although reality acknowledges Mitsuii Shinji to be some soulless cadaver wandering throughout the realm of Jugoku [hell], Kyoji couldn’t shake this feeling that he and his father hadn’t actually seen the last of each other. Because Kyoji wasn’t yet prepared for another confrontation, he’d abandoned his home (anything he’d loved had been destroyed by the demon, so it wasn’t so hard] and enrolled into ASA. It was a truly a relief to be rid of the Tukaido’s ghosts.

But you’re not, are you?

In a vain attempt to tune-out the voice, Kyoji turned-up the volume on his MP3-Player...yet another reason the teen’s existence was more problematic than was really necessary: the further trauma of being tormented by disembodied voices. Well...actually, just one voice. Originally, Kyoji had assumed that it was a suppressed personality manifested when he’d assimilated his brother’s spirit with that of his own. As the months passed, however, he couldn’t be sure. He had an underlying personality, once upon a time, but this wasn’t Keishi. In fact, the voice seemed an intrusion more than anything...perhaps telepathic, even. Whatever! All that really mattered was that whoever (or whatever) it was had created a sport of whispering into Kyoji’s subconscious. Day or night...should it please, the voice might never stop.

Not really...

“Damn! Like nails on a chalkboard...” he mutters.

Fortunately for young Kyoji, within the last several months, he’d also discovered that the voice was not only a source of unwanted council. If this was telepathy, it appeared to work in his favor, too. It seemed weary of Kyoji when he was annoyed...like now, for example. Fortunately, only the MP3’s jams were left to entertain him. Thank Yami! Kyoji lowered his shades, and continued to peruse through his magazine. He really didn’t need to be bothered with anything so trivial as school...or, more especially, disembodied voices. There were enough things to worry about without all that.

Hinakura came here with simple intentions. To hang up fliers about her lost pet rabbit, however that wasn’t the smartest of ideas, especially here. She was receiving suspicious looks the second she placed a paw on the school grounds here. It’s like they could smell that she wasn’t from these parts. It was kind of creeping her out after being around for a whole hour. Did these kids really hold a grudge against rabbits or just AHS students in general? She wasn’t even wearing her school uniform, just a blue dress and apron. She was even fitting in with her hutch rabbit appearance I’m going to die here… I just know it… She thought to herself miserably her ears lopped.

The picked up right away as she felt someone tap on her shoulder she turned around to see who it was. There was a group of students behind here and they didn’t look to friendly. “Hay, were all friends…. Right?” She smiled sheepishly as she took a few paw steps back Yep, I am going to die… She confirmed to herself. Her ears picked up as she heard someone in the group yell out “Attack the enemy!”

Hinakura let out a yip and turned around double quick. “I guess not!” She dropped her fliers and bolted off. She wasn’t use to the set up here so she didn’t know the ASA school grounds like the back of her paw. She was running at a good 9 MPH. Just fast enough to stay ahead and not tire out. Even if she had that advantage she didn’t know how to get around. She would make a turn thinking she had lost them to find them around the next corner waiting for her. “How do I even get out of here” She said quickly and turned around and and ran into the courtyard with a group of students following. “I’m going to die!” she complained and continued running.

Kyoji, obviously, had the volume way too high on his MP3 to hear anything of Hinakura’s ordeal, but he did become gradually more conscious that something was up as the ground beneath him turned more and more tremulous. Ultimately, the tremors got so bad that Hidaka Kyoji –eternal casualty of natural curiosity- looks up from the magazine he’d been flippantly flipping through to concentrate, instead, on peering through the drooping braches of the willow in the hopes that he might find out what the hell was going on. However, unable to see anything from where he sat, he’s finally forced to pull out his headsets. The taunts and jeers of Hinakura’s “fan-club” were easily discernable now. More curious still, Kyoji puts the magazine aside and inches slowly toward the blanket of twigs and leaves that hid him from the world, pushing them aside.

“What the…”

A cloud of dirt and dust was quickly approaching him... in the lead was, of course, Hinakura.

Hinakura continued running for dear life, sure these student wouldn’t kill but. But being held captive and forced to do embarrassing thing seemed to fit the picture. Either way it was a horrible fate. They would probably make her drink an entire bottle of hot sauce or swim in some pool that has a like monster of some sorts. Dieing almost seemed like a better option. Seeing Kyoji they only thing that came to mind was Not another one!! She thought that the entire school was already chasing her. She quickly made a sharp turn to the left and sprinted the nearest tree. Climbing up double quick until she felt that she was safe.

After a couple of seconds her attempt of hiding turned into a nightmare. Students crowed around the tree throwing empty soda cans and that not trying to get her to come down. “Last time I do a school visit….” She muttered seeing a could of students starting to climb up the tree as well. She naturally went higher in the tree. Hoping that she could keep them away long enough. They might bet bored.

It turned into a game of cat and mouse almost. Accept Hinakura was a mouse being chased my god knows how many cats. She would simply move from branch to branch trying to keep her distance. Only three students had climbed up the tree. They rest were below cheering. “Stay away!” She hissed and broke a twig off a branch and threw it at one of the students. It wasn’t very effective. Only making the student more influenced to drag her down the tree. At least they weren’t cutting down the tree…yet.

Meanwhile, Kyoji’s hidden himself again, sitting and contemplating his next move while beneath the sanctuary of the tree; too bad for him, though, he hadn’t the foggiest idea of where to begin. Some time ago, his initial thought might’ve been to grab up his blade and threaten to dismember them all limb by limb. Unfortunately, having lost so much to brutality already, Kyoji wouldn’t bring himself to become part of that evil again… even if circumstances now screamed for a good ol’ fashioned butt-kicking. Despite that, he found Hakumei’s presence almost tantalizing when she caught a moment’s sun beam and her sparkle hit his eye. The light was blocked by the branches of the tree; the katana ceased to twinkle, and the moment of temptation was done. Kyoji quickly got up, pushed aside the curtain of branches and trudged dutifully across the way and toward the rowdy kids…and Hinakura, too. He had to do this before he lost his nerve.

What are you gonna do?

Kyoji ignored that dark voice, stopping in his tracks only after he’d gotten within 5 feet of Hinakura and her tormentors. He slowly took a deep breath, to gather his courage –because he knew exactly what would come of this- and cleared his throat. The teenagers turned around expecting a teacher or something, but were instead confronted by Kyoji and his crooked smile.

“I hate to spoil your fun, but…” he stopped short as the mob, obviously upset at having had their fun interrupted, turned its attention on him. They slowly advanced. “Oh crap!” he mumbles.

***5 minutes later********

The students did, eventually, get tired of beating the hell out of him, but, for Kyoji, it simply wasn’t soon enough. He struggles to get his back against the trunk of the tree as they walk away; he can almost feel Hinakura’s eyes on him. All things considered, his injuries weren’t so bad. Sure, his left eye was swollen shut, his right cheek was puffy and bleeding, he was sure a couple of his ribs were broken; his right arm was bleeding, etc, etc. He’d he’ll quickly, though… his demonic contract made sure of that. Drawing in a deep breath (this time, for the sake of catching his breath), Kyoji looks up into the tree with his one good eye and waves at Hinakura. Whether she had closed her eyes during the beating or not didn’t really matter to him.

“Hey! You okay…ouch,” apparently they’d broken his left arm, too.

Hinakura was glad that most of the students had there attention on the other kid. There was only one left who was still following here from tree branch to tree branch. She managed to throw a tick eventually throwing the student out of the tree. Quickly it’s attention went to something else. At least she knew how those ASA students felt when they were visiting AHS. Sadly that wouldn’t stop her from torturing them when they came to her turf.

She wondered who that other kid was doing. She peered out of the tree only t see him getting beaten. She couldn’t help but snicker at his loss What a loser! She told herself. What kind of moron would tell his kind of stop. Well someone like him disserved it anyways. Besides she didn’t ask for his help in the first place. Once the enemy had passed she carefully made her way down branch by branch until it was safe enough to jump down. She glanced around to make sure the enemy was gone off to do their own business.

She looked over to Koyji and her ears flattened back. “You’re an idiot you should be worrying about yourself.” She muttered crossing her arms across her chest. She glared at him for a second. “Besides I didn’t need your help! I was doing just fine on my own. Next time think before you act like a moron.” She scolded, she had a habit of insulting those who helped her. Well she always she was too good to thank someone. They help because they were foolish and that’s the only reason people did help. I he were being chased she would have watched him suffer. Well she was a rabbit and being snobby was a very common trait in rabbits.
