Icicle man lodge. A strange little place hidden away in the South American Alps. A place where snow, skiing and cocoa are all continuous factors. Don’t forget the sunscreen up there! Snow reflects the light after all. In a strange and fantastic deal with the blind date association (now part of Mcjiggles entertainment) was opening up its doors for a day or two, giving free rentals and winter clothes to participants. The place would be vacant save for staff and the daters all for a good solid day, maybe even a lovely romantic weekend. As a public disclaimer both meta-blind date and Mcjiggles entertainment corp do not condone sexual relations between teenagers. All references to such is a jest and not to be taken seriously. If taken seriously you will be bopped over the head with a thirty nine year old Bulgarian mime. The sun was high and those two wonderful participants were arriving at this very moment by strange whirly teleporter in the closet. |

"Eeeee! Oooh..." Adara rolled out of the closet with swirly eyes as she shook her head. She had never teleported before, so she had been slightly disoriented. But despite this disorientation, it would seem that she had a very good feeling about this date. For one, the date was going to occur during the daytime. That was an added advantage for her considering that she would have to deal with changing during the night time. Secondly, it is amongst nature. She had always felt comfortable around nature. Stepping outside, she looked down at the ground and tilted her head. She had never seen snow before. After spending most of your life in a forest, Kneeling down in front of the steps, her foxtail swished around as she curiously held a handful of snow. That was when she felt a chill go down her spine. She was not properly dressed. She had been so used to wearing shorts and sandals, she didn't think of wearing much of anything else. The moon felt easier on her body this time around thankfully as well. Walking back inside, she looked at the various types of apparel and began to study them. "Hmmm...how does one wear this?" |

"You put it on." Derek said curtly, not even bothering to lace his tone with unnecessary tact. Slanted golden eyes narrowed on the girl in disbelief at the sight of a tail swirling around behind the girl. It wasn't necessarily uncommon, especially given his former profession, but it did catch him a little off-guard. He hadn't expected to encounter some sort of fox-girl on this blind date. One of his buddies had encouraged him to 'get out more' and 'explore his horizons' a bit more; now Derek immediately regretted this choice, as he was absolutely certain that he'd have absolutely nothing in common with a girl who wore a swimsuit to the Alps. He'd watched her gate in from a safe distance, as a guy in a white ski suit tends not to attract much attention when a field of snow acts as a backdrop. Perfectly camouflaged, save for his chocolaty skin standing out against the pristine white all around him, he said nothing when she scooped a handful of snow and began to fondle it with the intrigue of a six-year-old at Christmas time. Then she stirred slightly, just enough for Derek to acutely notice, and then slipped inside to peruse warmer apparel. He couldn't hold back a chuckle, despite his irritation at being sentenced to a date in the snow. He hated snow. It was cold. And although he wasn't necessarily annoyed with Adara as much as he was with the location, he didn't know how else to mask it otherwise. Instead, he reached out and plucked a pink and white ski suit which practically had the girl's name written all across it. He pushed it at her, albeit grudgingly, and silently glanced off to the side. "Hm. Try this. I'm Derek, by the way. Nice to meet you." |

"Eep!" Adara felt her heart jump all of the way into her throat when she heard a boy's voice from behind. Her dual colored eyes looked at his as she blushed gently. She wasn't sure who she was going to meet, but at least she wouldn't be alone. Adara then looked at the pink ski suit and smiled happily. It was the sense of curiousity that made her smile big. However, her eyes went to her tail as she thought about how best to manage this. A light went off in her head as she then walked into a dressing room to slip on the ski suit. Her purple foxtail was now wrapped around her waist within the ski suit to keep it from poking out of her suit. After adjusting her hoodie to compliment her fox ears, she looked at the boy and spoke happily. "My name's Adara." |

Derek seemed nonplussed. His expression was that of disinterest, even as she happily gave her name, and his bodily language spoke somewhat of a similar volume. The boy crossed his arms across his chest, eying over her new look appraisingly before sharply turning on his heel to look off into the snowy-capped distance. "Mm. I see." He said crossly, discreetly keeping his face hidden from her. It was cold and he dared not let the pinkish flush in his cheeks be confused for a blush of embarrassment. It wasn't as if he'd been secretly checking her out, no...nothing like that. Now that introductions were out of the way, the boy thumbed his chin idly for a moment before glancing over his shoulder back at Adara. Clearly unused to such things, as he didn't date often, Derek looked toward the ceiling as if it could provide all the necessary answers to the questions he silently asked. Where should they go next? What should he say to her? And there were so many more inquiries that called out to the back of his mind for an answer. Derek cleared his throat to speak, feeling his voice seeming to crack before he could even get a word out. "So, you ski any?" |

"Ski?" Adara tilted her head in confusion when Derek asked that question. The expression in her eyes showed that she had not only didn't know about how to ski, she didn't even know what skiing was. "I haven't really seen snow before. Do you iknow how to?" Adara's eyes looked innocently up at the boy as she wondered what he was talking about. She had heard of snow before, but only from the stories that her mother had talked about. As to skiing, she didn't have a clue what it was. Looking around, she saw a snowboard for one of the rentals. Seeing that made her remember her godfather and him using something of that calibur. Asking for the snowboard, she held it in both of her hands and blinked. "Hm...where is the orbs for hovering?" Looking up at Derek, she smiled at him sweetly and held up the snowboard. "Do you use this for skiing?" |

Derek just stared at her, unsure of how to handle her innocence. It wasn't something that he was accustomed to in his dark world of macabre shadow and deception. For a moment, his jaw merely slackened as a response to her question. There was definitely some sort of cultural difference at play here, although the gap between them was more or less a vast chasm no man could easily leap across. At first, he was tempted to simply walk away from this Adara girl, leaving her to figure things out on her own. The boy had a thin line of patience that was broken more easily than silk threads. However, today, there was something in this awkward girl that made him slightly more merciful. And they would say that Derek's heart grew three sizes that day, making room for charity and compassion. At least, that's what the optimistic viewpoint was like. On the other hand, however, Derek's emotionless shell didn't fragment in the slightest and he placed one of his gloved hands on the top of her board as she held it. "No. It's a board. You 'board with it, you know...snowboarding?" Derek replied, his tough way of phrase slighting some for the poor girl. At first, he figured she was daft or ditzy, but as they spoke the icy-natured boy began to realize that she simply didn't know any better. He couldn't hate her for it, although he could try if he put his mind to it. But he didn't. Instead, he walked over and picked out a nice purple board of his own, giving her a clear view of the bottom. "What're you, a technophile? You're talking about anti-gravity propulsion diodes, right? Those are hover-boards. These are kinda different." Derek explained, flexing his mechanical brawn ever-so-slightly. Although his knowledge of the subject was thin at best, Derek prided himself on being a human capable of such complex concepts as anti-gravity systems and the like, although he'd never actually ridden a hover-board before in his life. "This snowboard functions along a lesser concept. See this end?" He flipped it around to show her the ankle-locking clasps on the other side. "This lock your feet into place, and you sort of balance on it, using your momentum and body to steer downhill. I'm not too good with this stuff, myself, but I can show you if you wanna give it a shot." |
