Mobilize And Move Out!

"Now, be nice and play with the other kids, okay?" It was the same woman who had greeted her and her parents at the entrance of the Daycare. Tomo suspected that she had been assigned to this person, it was only natural after all. Since her grandparents weren't as active as they use to be, she was forced to live here. As sad as it was, she didn't mind. The place wasn't that bad, despite her previous assumption of it. Tomo was dead set on being miserable here, heck, she even prepared herself for it. And what better way was there than to eat candy? The young kitsune had brought tons but restricted herself one bag a day. As the woman left, Tomo held a bright red bouncy ball. Obviously new, it held that extra bounce and fresh smell of elastic. From slides to sand boxes, the play ground was average, monkey bars included. Of coarse they weren't really that far from the ground. There was a good square of pavement in the center of the grass by the side walk, by her measure, it could hold about six or so kids. A mini hoop for those who liked basketball. A bit hot, it wasn't enough to break out into a sweat, just yet anyway. Kids bustled about, most playing tag, others making sand castles, and a few play jump rope or clapping games. Despite the many groups, the youngster wasn't quite sure she would fit in. Like her usual daily attire, except for at night, she wore a short kimono. The sleeves were rolled back to her elbows and the bottom hem fell a few inches above her knees. For her shoes, the same wooden sandals. Today, the kimono was blue with pink sakura blossoms designed into it, even her eye patch had been made to match the theme. With one blue eye, she gazed around at her possible playmates. Tomo hadn't seen Rai in quite awhile but she knew he would come soon. Or at least she hoped he would come. She bounced the ball a few times before trying to twirl the ball on her finger. |

While the drive was uneventful, the small walk to the entrance was. A boy who had a portable sludge slide went wailing past Rai as his eyes tracked the boy. A girl followed behind, her powers causing her to grow small wings. They only lifted her up a foot from the ground, but it still looked cool. Mark was there, at the desk. He greeted Rai's mother with a smile, and the father shook his hand. Raikou beamed up to Mark in greeting. The blond, elf like caretaker smiled in return, and then lead Raikou off towards the playroom. But today was an outside day. The boy immediately went for the playground, as opposed to the playroom. Another day, another game. Rai skipped across the playground, insulated bike gloves leaping up to grab a metal tube. Legs swung up and hooked him to the top of a platform. Get high, get high up. Close to the clouds. Rei swirled around his long, spiky white hair. Right there, a loose shard of lightning sparked across the rails. He kept going up, reaching up, higher and higher. When Rai was high up, nothing could hurt him. He finally reached the top, a good three meters off the ground. Rai could smell the air, feel the dizzying height. He breathed out, his eyes scanning the playground. Memories of Tomo, the kitsune girl, played out in his mind. Alrighty, where was she? The girl often was here before him, and Rai wondered where she was. His footing shifted about, electric blue irises flickering back and forth around the playground. The breeze whipped through his hair, now held back with a bandana, wrapped around his forehead. A olive drab vest went over a pair of dark grey cargo pants and a brown shirt. Then there was the shoes, thick, almost platform shoes in their own right. Insulated. Well, that sort of helped. But poor guy, he didn't look behind him, which was where Tomo was. Confused, Rai continued to waver in the breeze. Finally he turned around, and his face lit up. It was Tomo! He immediately began to climb down, jumping off the final half and landing at a run. Rai dashed up his arms waving and face grinning. "TOOOOMOOOO!" It was a bit wierd, but yeah, he was happy to see his friend again. She was one of the few people he actually had no trouble being around. Grinning madly, he slowed to a stop, unfazed by the twenty meter run. "Hi Tomo!" |

Kanon, as Tomo and Rai were having their impromptu reunion, was stalking an ancient and deadly enemy. The common housefly. The way they zoomed around, looping and turning in the air, and landing on any kind of surface, and leaping back into flight as soon as you got close was clearly a diabolical plot to take over the world's sugar supply. Or something. Anyway, it was distracting as heck to Kanon. She could never figure out why no one else was as fascinated by the small insects as she was. Once she had caught one, valiantly killing it in the process, and proudly presented it to one of the ADC staff members. The adult had tried to make a few appropriate noises of congratulations, but had nonetheless taken her prize and discreetly put it into the garbage. Kanon had wanted it mounted on the wall or something, but apparently that wasn't allowed. Grownups could be so stupid sometimes. She crouched in the space under one of the slides, her tail flicking back and forth as her eyes tracked her insectile target buzzing around outside. "I really don't see the point in this." "That's 'cause you're a stupid monkey," Kanon replied, still watching the fly like... well, like a cat watching a bug, frankly. The other speaker was her stuffed sock-monkey, Mister Bimble, currently hanging rather uncomfortably out of the front of the short denim overalls Kanon was wearing. He had shown absolutely no interest in joining Kanon in her hunts, but she wasn't about to take that kind of thing from a monkey. Especially a stuffed one. If Mister Bimble didn't have her looking after him, he would end up just sitting around and probably getting dragged off by some big smelly dog or something. So clearly she knew better than he did. About everything. "It's just a fly, it's not-" "Shut up it's landing let's go!" Kanon zoomed out from under the slide, running barefoot and on all fours. That fly was totally hers. She took a running jump, hands outstretched to catch or smash the resting fly, or maybe both. "TOOOOMOOOO!" The fly took off into the air as Kanon's hands closed over where it had been seconds before. She hit the ground and rolled a little, bouncing up and snatching at the escaping bug. Great. Now it would come back with reinforcements. The world was doomed. Kanon straightened up and, without bothering to dust herself off, trotted over to the other two children, feeling indignant. "You made me lose the fly I was chasing," she announced, without preamble, as she reached Rai and Tomo, arms folded angrily across her monkey, her lower lip stuck out in a small pout of righteous indignation. |

Tomo, in complete surprise, stared blankly at Rai for a few seconds. The young fox had never seen anyone that fast, well, maybe except that one time when she was chased by a bee. But other than that, he was fast. What was even more surprising was the fact that he didn't seem winded. Snapping herself back to reality, she quickly donned on a cheerful smile. "Heeeeeeey Rai! That was quite the....dash..." She said with a nervous laugh and bounced the ball. As it came into her hands once more, an idea flashed in her mind. "Hey, Rai, want to play ball? We could throw it to each other?" She tilted her head in question. "You made me lose the fly I was chasing" Hearing the voice, Tomo instantly turned her attention toward the person who spoke. For a moment, she thought Pooky became a person. But that was impossible, the cat was a stuffed animal. The on in front of her now was made of flesh and blood, that and her ears and tail were the same color as her hair. Pooky was blue and not yellow, and he was a boy. This cat was a girl. And this girl was obviously upset, and it would seem, over a fly. "Uh...sorry? You can find more near the trash..." Tomo offered and pointed toward the trashcan beside the door. As her three tails swayed calmly behind her, she couldn't help smiling. She found the younger girl quite cute. Remembering the candy pouch tied to her waist, she reached in and pulled out a yellow gum ball. Offering to the feline, she smiled brightly. "Would you like a gum ball as a "I'm sorry"?" |

Rai's thoughts on the distance he had to cover was very relative. It was a matter of putting one foot in front of the other, and forgetting about anything else. Well, there was also the matter of ducking and weaving your head to avoid concussion, but that was a different matter. Grinning madly, Rai smiled as Rei danced up the length of his arm. He looked at Tomo, with her eye-patch thing, tails and... kimono? Yeah, it was called a kimono. "Hi Tomo!" Energetic as always, Raikou glanced around with such speed it was surprising that his head was still screwed on. Not to mention the rest of his body was still intact, forces involved in the last minute or two considered. Rai began to look around, to see a cat-girl that was rather angry at him. Oh dear... why? And... why was it that the only people here had tails? He wanted one too... "Sorry?" He didn't truly get it. Rai actually didn't know what the big deal was about this girl and her... escaped fly. Curiously, he finished looking at her ears and her tail, before returning his gaze to Tomo. Gum balls? He loved gum balls. They made him faster, stronger, jump higher and talk faster! But electric blue eyes locked onto who was in front of him. An angry cat-girl who lost a fly. Rai used to have a pet cat, and he knew that they could really, really hurt. "Um, yeah..." Poor kid didn't know what to say. |

Kanon's declaration of loss completely failed to be met with what she considered appropriate sympathy and understanding. Well, okay, the boy that had done it apologized, But there was still a lack of wailing and tearing of clothes in mourning. She had been THIS close to taking out one of the agents of filth and disease that plagued the entire planet. She had been robbed of more than a fly, she had been robbed of a decisive victory over the enemy. "You can't just attack the trash, silly," she said, in the tones of one explaining that one plus one equalled two. "That's their base. You need to wait until one wanders away from the group." She kicked the concrete of the playground, or at least scuffed at it with the ball of her foot, a little glumly. They would probably all be on their guards now. She clearly wasn't going to catch one today. Oh well. Run away to... um... play another day? That didn't really make sense, so it probably wasn't what she was trying to think of. "No thanks," she said as Tomo offered gum. "Gum gets all stuck in my teeth, and then they gotta take me to th' dentist and last time I was there I accidentally bit him, so he doesn't like me too much." She brightened up a little after she spoke, bouncing a bit on the balls of her feet. "So you guys wanna play ball?" |
