Voices could be heard rising over the din of clashing metal not too far up the slope of Dragoon Mountain. The noise was easy to pinpoint, a man in Gi and Hakama and woman in Quipao were sparring on a ledge. She had a Guandao, and he had his HF Blade. Guess who it is? Yep, Flame and Suki. They were going at it hard, no holds barred. Well okay, they couldn't cut each other to ribbons, they had agreed to that. Otherwise it was a knock-down drag-out fight. Suki was doing her level best to keep Flame at bay, but he was considerably fast and she found that she had to rely more on sweeping strokes, which tired her out quicker, than short, quick jabs. Flame, for his part, dodged, bobbed, and weaved around Suki in a merry dance, just staying out of her reach with the polearm. Of course, if he tried to go in for an attack he was repelled quite effectively due to the disparity in weapon length, but that hardly deterred our intrepid hero. In fact, he enjoyed the challenge this brought, and relished the experience. Plus he knew he was tiring her out, so that would eventually lead to his victory. Suki needed to catch a break. She had been swinging that Guando for the better part of thirty minutes now, and that was tiring for even the most athletic of people. The strain was starting to show, like her suddenly jabbing at Flame as he came in again. He dodged, and had the opening he needed. He ran right up to Suki, and flashing a dazzling smile, got his blade to within an inch of her neck. "Spears are good weapons," he commented, his voice a silky murmur, "best used in groups of no more than your 100 closest friends. However, alone you'd better have a sword for backup." He grinned as he stepped away from her. Slightly infuriated, Suki tried to hit him one last time, but he easily batted the spear away with his sword, leaving her to run into him with the last dregs of her strength, which wasn't much. Somehow their lips locked, and he held onto her to keep her from collapsing. "How do you always know how to get me to melt?" she asked in a daze after they separated. "It just happens," he whispered. Later on they were sitting, well, snuggling, together by a roaring campfire as the first stars started appearing in the purple night sky. A day of training at high altitude had worn them both out, so it was good to relax a little by a toasty fire. A tent was pitched nearby as sleeping quarters. Suki let out a big yawn before shifting closer to Flame. "That was fun today," she murmured, rubbing the back of her head against Flame's chest. "Suna-kun, you're a very skilled fighter." "You've told me on several occasions," Flame commented, "but my skills go father than that." "Oh really?" she giggled, "how far?" "This far," Flame replied, lifting Suki up in one fluid motion as he got to his feet. "Eeek!" she exclaimed and giggled more. He carried her over to the tent before setting her down on the various plush carpets they had brought in lieu of sleeping bags. There was also one big blanket for them to sleep under. Somehow Suki found herself slip out of her dress, with Flame's clothes tossed on top of it. "What about the lantern?" Suki asked, indicating the Coleman electric lantern attached to the center support for the tent, "we'll cast shadows." "Its not like anyone else is up here Suki," Flame purred. With that, they got down to business, so to speak. |

"Catapult... Check. Ammo, aka, ME check. Wind conditions perfect, target in site. Gentleself, we are a-go!" Sting cackled to himself as he worked on some last minutes adjustments to the structure of his catapult. The thing was crafted from scrap metal, wire, and a good dose of the kind of crazy inspiration that could give such a haphazard gizmo life. Sting gave an important knob one last crank with his wrench and stepped back to admire his work. Aye, she was a beaut. Sting took pride in all of his inventions, especially the ones that made things explode or threw large things at people. This catapult was one of the latter, though Sting was already devising a way to combine the two. An exploding catapult? If you could dream it, you could make it. Sting had been building this thing in the woods near the mountain in secret, and now it was time to give this baby a go. Sting peered up the mountain ridge, his eyes landing upon a glowing beacon near the top. That was his target. If he could successfully launch himself up to that beacon, he could declare this device a success. Now, Sting marched around the side of the steel construction, grabbing a motorcycle helmet from his work bench along the way. With a casual hop, Sting stepped onto the catapults arm. He already had a pair of elbow and knee guards on under his clothes, and as far as he was concerned, that was all the protection he needed. Sting nodded once, grabbed the jutting lever, and hauled down on it. A heartbeat later, Sting was flying the through the air, tumbling head over heels, arcing downwards to the glowing beacon that he now saw a glowing tent with shadows moving about. Momentarilly distracted by the sight of it, Sting hadn't yet seen the tree that he was now about to crash into. ---------- Several minutes later, a dazed Sting fell out of the tree, with the shards of his helmet falling after him. He managed to land on the ground on all fours, and pushed himself shakily onto his feet. Sting had a nasty bruise on his head and a sharp cut on his chest, but other than that he was fine. Sting's resilience was becoming legendary among the student populace, especially among those who had witnessed him leap head first through a glass window without any protection. He had landed quite near to the glowing tent, and now his curiosity was aroused. Who was in that tent? What were those strange shadows? Time for Sting to do a wee bit of investigating. Sting crept silently across the stony ground, employing the stealth skills he'd learned in his adolescence to move without a sound. Soon, he was just outside the tent, leaning in. Without another thought, Sting grabbed the tent flap and pulled it open. |

The wolf had been walking around the edge of the mountain when he heard clashing metal. As Rhys made his way up the mountain just as the sun began to set in the sky and the sounds of the steel clashing stopped. But now a fresh scent reached his nose one that smelled somewhat familiar. it smelled like . . . lust. Rhys smiled to himself as he thought about that wonderful smell how great it must be to be in love. But then another smell reached his nose. Some one else was there and they were not invited by Rhys's guess. Rhys sped up his hike in order to see what was happening. The sight he came upon was something that would make anyone with a loving heart pissed. The third party was advancing up to a tent that was low lite and the shadows of two people doing things they shouldn't be inside. Rhys rushed forward. If he hurried he might just be able to stop anything from happening to the two. Rhys almost didn't make it in time. just as the peeping tom lifted up the entrance to the tent Rhys grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him back and then pushed him away from the tent. "I hope you don't mind but don't you think doing that is kinda rude?" Rhys's tail wagged back and forth for some unknown reason even to him. |

Suki was showing Flame a position in which, well frankly, he didn't know the human body could bend that way, but apparently it could, when they both heard the rustle of the tent flap. They looked quickly, but whoever it was wasn't there. However, there were shadows cast from the dying fire. "Looks like a guy and a dog," Suki whispered to Flame, covering herself with the blanket. "Should I go shoo them off?" Flame whispered back. "Be careful." After a few moments Flame stepped out of the tent in just his hakama, holding his sheathed sword over his shoulder. "Evening," he commented, shifting his view from the boy to the dog. Well, it was bigger than a normal dog, so possibly a werewolf. There was a full moon out tonight, and it seemed peaceful enough but Flame was tensed just in case. "Ah, the girlfriend and I were just camping up here. I don't suppose you'd care to say where you came from, and why the hell you look like you just were in the human cannonball act?" Seriously, was this guy that crazy? |
