The night sky burned brightly then. A wave of heat and light emanating from the clouds. Beyond the sight and sound of those below two beings beyond human bounds approached an all too familiar generic military base. A third world nation, ruled by a military junta, who spent more on building palaces and armies then the spent on the people in the last decade combined. These were the scum of the earth as it was now. Scum that could be stopped by those that had the responsibility. They were out there now, beings who realized that their great power meant they had to use it for something right. Those were the people soaring through the sky. A woman wearing white and gold, whose eyes burned like the hate of a thousand suns, glowing fire and energy flowed around her face, obscuring her features. She was Starbrand, a solar powered power house, screeching through the air onwards towards the destination. Her eyes burnt brightly for a moment, the white hot beams of energy burst forward from her eyes, crossing through the midsection of the guard tower, sending it grumbling downwards. The military already knew they were there, no point in trying to hide in the sky. Missiles burst through the air, sizzling apart as Starbrand swayed, swooped, avoiding the projectiles small and large. Their source was clear, a pair of helicopters, gunships really, armed to the teeth and letting loose their arsenal on the pair of heroes. With a single signal untraceable to most onlookers Starbrand let go of her grip, the other being she was carrying taking this chance to swing forward and down, straight towards the gunships that had opened fire. Starbrand rolled low and headed towards the ground, determined to take care of everything she could. That brings us to the second adventurer, a woman costumed in black, with a large coat hiding her real form, it was armored of course to keep her safe. Her mask was hidden beneath the sharp cowl that gave her the appearance of something like a hawk, her eyes darting back and forth as she mentally calculated everything to land just right. Her working name was Ebony, it didn’t quite fit, something everyone pointed out, but you couldn’t go into a fight shouting ‘hey you’ and expect them to pay attention. Which was difficult enough for the two pilots in the helicopter, as she smashed onto the windshield. They pulled out small arms, pistols really, and took a few shots, shattering the glass and their ear drums. Ebony reached her fist through the glass, spraying it everywhere, especially into the chests of one particularly shocked looking pilot and started punching the crap out of the control systems. Something about that worked and the entire vehicle went spinning out of control. Ebony leapt off her little platform and into the air, enough time to see a tank shell launched from the ground flying up at her. This was where things got a little insane. Ebony swung back her leg and kicked the shell when it got close enough, sending the exploding round through the air, redirected now at the second helicopter that had stopped their paths. The blow shattered apart the chopper’s blades and it started falling to the ground like a stone. Though it managed to fire off a single missile before it went too far out of control. It didn’t take a genius to see it was going for Ebony. She rolled in the air and latched onto it’s side, forcing it to fly the way she wanted to. Which just happened to be at the tank that had fired at her before. She jumped off just before impact, letting it slam into the hard metal armor of the armored tank. The blast hadnt destroyed it, this wasn’t like in the movies, however it did melt off much of the armor, making the gun impossible to move or aim. Tanks that couldn’t fire weren’t much good in battle. Ebony was on the ground, and the troops were starting to pile out. Starbrand was doing her thing as well. But truth be told, this was all just one big distraction. -- Inside the base was where the real action was happening. See in all military bases there are all sorts of little organizations who the soldiers aren’t supposed to know exist, and can always pull rank on them. This is especially true for the larger ‘world power’ governments. It makes them feel special and do all sorts of crazy black bag things that no one ever hears about. However it also means that anyone who walks around looking like he belongs and telling people to piss off, is not going to be very thoroughly questioned or even cared about. Pay soldiers shit and that’s what you get after all. This is of course, how the one, the only Eeth Hellsing had found his way to the heart of the base, to the very entertaining science area where they were playing with the real fun gadgets. He was a super hero too, though he didn’t wear a costume or a mask. Not because he didn’t want to, because really he wanted a costume, especially capes, he loved capes. But you cant bluff people into thinking you’re a government man in a costume and a cape. No, you have to wear the cheapest, ugliest suit you can find. Which is why he often wandered around wearing one of those. What brought him here? Sure he used the whole criminal nation bluff with his team, telling them that this would make him afraid, that they could steal his private stores and redistribute the wealth. While that sounded well and good, (it was also a deal that Eeth would not go back on), it was really only a drop in the bucket. What brought him down here was an honest to god alien space craft. Something that he was staring through a solid foot of bullet proof glass at. The British man eyed it carefully, his cigarette smoldering between his lips. It was a small ship, a sphere really. With a large seat, lots of gel and special equipment were inside, the kind that could baffle scientists for a century, that could lead to bigger technological booms then the birth of the computer. The ship was not the first alien to visit earth, that had been well established, but it was the first spaceship of its type, from far away and to arrive without the aid of faster then life travel…especially with a living being on board. The ship had come down last night, in a populated area. Fifteen people had caught fire, liquidated from the force of the ships entry into the earth’s atmosphere. In the end it was found by a pair of farmers, who had it quickly taken away from them and the entire pod brought here. That all wasn’t what bothered him. No, not the fact that this had landed here, that it had torn apart lives and ruined what was possibly an entire village’s food supply for the entire year. But rather something so mundane most people wouldn’t have even thought about it. “You stupid, sorry arseholes. You opened the goddamn ship.” -- Outside it was Starbrand doing her thing. She tore through an armored transport, scattering it to pieces without much of a thought. Her hands held strong on a tank gun, tearing the entire turret off with one pull and using it, quite successfully as a giant bat when it came to the new helicopters approaching. They erupted into giant fireballs as the pilots tried their best to survive the explosion. The mighty warrior then spun in the air, adding as much speed as she could to the tank turret before letting it go, letting it fly straight through the oncoming lines and smashing through the base’s motor pool. It caught the gasoline, the explosives, the energy needed to keep these war machines going and erupted into a great ball of flames. They had come here, to do good, not to kill people. But these soldiers were not just people, they were mostly monsters, horrible men who treated other people like dogs. They were the ones that raped and pillaged small villages, that smoked, that killed with impunity knowing they would never be brought to justice. Their deaths wouldn’t be missed, hell Ebony and Starbrand wouldn’t lose any sleep if any of them died, but there were a few of them, a few innocents in the mix that kept them from promptly killing everyone. However that didn’t mean the two really cared about any accidental deaths happening in their fight. -- What was so horrible about opening the ship? Because while the germs and other strange carry ons that hung on the ships hull would die by the heat created by reentry, that could not be said about whatever squirmy creepy viruses that were inside the ship with the occupant. Yeah, we sent cold viruses into space all the time, not on purpose, they just follow us around. But here we had alien bacteria, alien diseases, all sorts of nasty biological problems all opened up and released into the world because some military dumbass thought there might be laser beams in there. For all Eeth knew, for all anyone knew, they had released into the atmosphere something that made ebola look like an allergy. “Be lucky if these dumbasses even used gloves.” Mr. Hellsing tossed the cigarette to the ground and grinded it into nothingness with a quick brush of his toe. He entered the lab, brushing past the simple security guards. One finally dared ask what he was doing, and for that Eeth gave him a punch to the neck, and the same to the other guard. It wouldn’t kill them, but they certainly wouldn’t bother Eeth until he was long gone. He entered the chamber, bothered already, knowing that it didn’t matter for him to be careful or not. He reached to the pod and began very quickly to tear things out of it. Some of the gel packs, some strange parts, crystals that didn’t seem to fit anywhere on earth, and of course, finally a bit of the computer. Something hard, square, like an old floppy disk, but containing so much more. Carrying it all out might have looked suspicious, but as the entire compound rocked from some large blow, with armed guards running back and forth, mostly to save their own damn lives. It really didn’t serve Eeth to even care what they were thinking. He simply walked out the front door, plain and simple. -- Ebony and Starbrand saw, for lack of a better word, their leader wander out of the base. That was a clear signal to take everything down. Ebony began pounding away simple guardsmen and Starbrand tore apart everything that could drive or fly. They did this to stop anyone from transporting stuff that they didn’t get to. In fact, in a single bright flash Starbrand had blown her way through the base and into their supplies, stealing every ounce of food and medicine they had and piling it into a giant platform truck. “Well then, lets go be robin hood eh? Took from the rich now give to the poor and all that.” |
