Elial gazed up at the rather large glass window of one of his favourite restaurants and hang out places, Pear. It was a pleasant little cafe' that he spent most of his time alone, directly after arriving to AHS and becoming accustomed to the school for the first time. He hadn't had many friends, well, even though he did not, so the young man enjoyed just reading sitting in the window when it was sunny and having a sandwich and some tea. "This is a really nice place. I come here often, actually...there is tea and coffee, and sandwiches and pastries. It is quite nice." Upon entering by an old wooden door with a brass handle, a jingle of windchimes sounded at the top where the door corner had met its frame. The interior was a bit more dimly lit with rounded, discus-shaped lights that were different colours and hung down over each table. The entire complex was shaped almost like an L, with a bit added on for where the window seats were. The walls were a yellow, almost adobe colour with a painting technique used on them that made them appear crackled, peeling, and aged, but they were not. The showcases were lit as were the chalkboards that showed all the different food items and drink items behind the counter. The tables were made of the same wood as the door, and had mosaic pieces inlaid. The floor was just about the same with a tiled affect that made the image of, of course, a pear and other fruits. "Hello! Welcome! Is it just going to be the two of you?" asked a woman in a black apron with the store name printed on the front. "Yes," Elial replied, offering up a smile. The woman in turn motioned toward all of the empty seats. "Choose any you like and come up and order whenever you'd like! We'll bring your order to you." "Thank you," stated Elial, before turning to Kysse with a half smile. "My apologies for my poor attire. I was not expecting to leave that library for a while, so I am sorry that you had to join me in public with my training garb. However, I wish to make it up to you. What would you like to eat or drink?" |

Upon entering the café Kysse was surprised. It was roomier than she had expected from the outside looking in. It was a cozy place that Kysse could see lots of people coming to. While she stood gawking at the place a woman spoke to Elial. When he spoke back Kysse paid attention. Then he spoke to her, pretty much saying he’d pay. “It’s nothing to apologize for. You really don’t have to pay.” She led the way to a table she liked, hoping he didn’t mind. There were small one sheet menus at the table and after sitting she looked over it. While looking at the menu she was a bit distracted by her thoughts. She was placing people here and there according to the way to knew them; she seemed to do this often. Still she thought about where she would put Elial. Her eyes glanced up at him for a moment before looking back down at the menu. She wasn’t in an indecisive mood so she already, quickly picked out her sandwich and tea, along with a side glass of water. She didn’t say she was ready though, she would give him more time to decide. In the mean time she spaced out while looking over the menu, lost back into her own thoughts. |

Elial sighed slightly as he looked at the menu and scanned the familiar items. He had almost tried just about everything there. Feeling that he was needing a lot to eat tonight, and hoping that Kysse wouldn't think less of him for ordering so much, the young Englishman motioned for her to join him at the counter, and then thought to ask her instead. "I am ready to order, so if you tell me what you would like, you do not have to get up." He offered an encouraging and hopeful smile. He knew he didn't have to pay for the meal, but it was something that he wanted to do. In some ways, Elial was afraid that Kysse would just get up and leave him, which would dishearten him completely because...in actuality, she was the only one he really knew anymore. The woman behind the counter appeared out of no where and grinned. She placed her rather large hands on the cash register and bobbed her short, cropped auburn hair to and fro to an unknown beat. With a chipper voice, the woman asked, "What can I get for you?" Elial turned to her, removing the sturdy brown leather wallet from his back pocket and placing it on the worn wooden counter, and said, "I would like the pot of Peach Apricot tea, a turkey sandwich with no mayonnaise, a bowl of tomato bisque, a cinnamon roll, a cheese danish, and a small caeser salad to begin with." Turning to Kysse once again, he looked at her with expectation in his crimson eyes. "What would you like, Kysse?" Edited by CrimsonPhoenix88, Jun 4 2008, 09:31 AM.

While Elial ordered Kysse went over all she wanted to order. When he was done and looking at her she stood up and walked toward him. Though he had told her to just call it out to him she didn’t want to be rude to the other people in the café, though there were few. “I’ll have a green tea with honey, a water, and the french croissant sandwich.” Standing there now made her feel odd. Having to not pay did that to a person who normally stood on their own. That’s the way she liked it too. She liked that she felt like she didn’t need help from others. Plus she always had this feeling that others she cared for would leave her when they were done with her. Though she was the one who usually did the running away, she didn’t want things to turn the other way. Her gaze went around the building one more time as she leaned against Elial gently. Leaning against him was better than falling to the floor. |

Elial rifled through some cash in his wallet, passing up a picture of his family and also another of just his sister. He was pleased to hold them there in plastic picture holders, but there was not much else. The wallet clasp around the brown leather piece held his family crest upon it and the cards inside were just a convenience for a travelling man. After finding the correct amount of money, with exact change, Elial handed over the sum and the woman offered yet another smile before reciting, "We'll have that food ready for you in just a moment! Please, have a seat!" The young Englishman would've moved right away had his heart not suddenly stopped for a moment as he became conscious that Kysse was leaning against him. He enjoyed the feeling, and didn't want it to end, but felt that the tension would be even stranger if they just stood there. "I think that the food will be excellent," Elial said as he gestured just slightly with his hand for Kysse to head back to the table. He smiled and nodded as they crossed the mosaic floor and sat down on the orange cushioned booth and chair. The table she had chosen was half and half. "I do hope you like the food. It is quite delicious! I am a real fan of the tomato bisque. You should try some, if you would like some." The young man yawned, all of a sudden, and quickly brought a hand to his mouth. As he did, the white training garb slipped off his arm to reveal his tattoo and several long red cuts. "Oh, excuse me!" Elial exclaimed after his yawn. "I guess I did not realize how tired I was!" He almost absentmindedly removed the hair tie from his long strands and organized the clumps a bit before tying it all once again quite loosely against his back. The strands, which had grown longer and longer still, almost seemed to be shortening. It was odd. What was going on? Had his time come? Was this some sort of Meta-Human adolescent phase? Too bad he was too old for that, right? Elial was not sure. Perhaps it was just with his blood, his family. All he knew was that out in the open and away from the magic the Supernatural Hall seemed to possess with all its ancient books and tomes, he seemed a lot different. Elial stopped to think about the amount of time he really had spent in the library. "I guess I must've been in there for at least.....three days...wow..." |

When Elial pulled her out of her thoughts she nodded and apologized. This place seemed a bit familiar, though she’d never been here before. That was one thing she liked about living here in Japan, it was so different from the Netherlands that it didn’t usually remind her of her past. It was vivid and full of colors and a different culture than Kysse had been used to. Not only that but it rarely caused her to think about things that had ever happened to her in the past. As they walked back to the table she shivered and prayed Elial didn’t notice. Aside from the slight feeling of déjà vu, it was a nice place, exactly what she’d imagined when she described a place for Elial and her to go eat. The place was also very comfortable and an easy place to have a conversation, which Elial started. He was always so polite and Kysse almost wished he wasn’t. It wasn’t that it annoyed her it was just that he didn’t have to be so… proper. Then again maybe it was his upbringing. She didn’t know. For the first sentences he talked and she merely nodded and smiled. This didn’t normally happen in front of others but she relaxed a bit allowing her hand to hold her chin up so she could continue to watch him. When he yawned and apologized, it just reminded her how polite he just had to be. That wasn’t the only thing she noticed though. It wasn’t hard to miss the markings on his arm, but they were gibberish to her, though it looked vaguely familiar, much like a tribal mark she had studied one time. She put it at the back of her mind; it was probably just a tattoo. Three days was a long time to be in a library, but Kysse also had a love for learning and reading so she didn’t mind that he did too. “Three days in a library? I couldn’t last that long. Just because I have to get out and just move sometimes, you know? I don’t try to be active, I just can’t stand not being active.” This ended with a smile, as usual. |

Elial was trying extremely hard to focus on the conversation they were having, but something began to form in the back of his mind...like a little itch. Something was "tweaking his senses" so to say, and he could not help but begin to feeel a smidge uneasy. The young man figured that, perhaps, he was just paranoid because he had been in that library for so long. Whatever it was, hopefully it would pass! "Yeah...usually I train a lot outside in the woods to get all of my energy out and to stay as fit as possible...but...I was really distracted and have just been at this whole issue with Eli. I need to know my past...my heritage. It is just something that is kept quiet in my household. My father..." Elial almost hissed out a sigh, "...he is immoveable when it comes to information. Like a rock, I tell you. I think, perhaps, he is both proud and does not want anything to do with the meta-strand." The Englishman figured that most people did not have that sort of dynamic with their fathers. He knew that all families were different, but it seemed as though his family was extremely dysfunctional. His brothers were not really all that interested in him, his oldest sister was kind, but really involved with her marriage and raising her family...and of course his younger sister was, well, a young woman. She just seemed to do as she pleased. Of course, she was the one that was always on his side. "Sometimes...I wish I did not have it...I feel so strange," Elial paused, "like it's a curse or something...I think to some people it may be." The woman from behind the counter suddenly appeared holding a large tray with all the food that Elial had ordered. She placed the dishes and bowls in front of him and Kysse, respectively, and what she could not place on the small table, she set on the table beside them since it was not that busy. Elial thanked her and then looked down at the steaming soup. "Would you like to try a bit?" he asked, spooning a mouthful into the large silver utensil. |

To make things worse he brought up his family and his past. What the heck? She didn’t dislike him for talking about thing like that, it just brought up her own thoughts about family. All she wanted when she was a little girl was to be loved and cared for, had he had that? When he spoke of his father she turned her head to look at other things. Though Claude adopted her as his daughter, sort of, she hated the word. Claude was an amazing man to raise her, he raised her like a daughter or maybe a sister, either way he was more of a man than her ‘real’ father. “I… really could never understand that feeling.” Maybe it wasn’t the right thing to say but she did anyway. Everyone talked about their powers and such, Kysse always had to sit back and listen. The lady from behind the counter interrupted but Kysse was far from angry about it. In fact, she was almost relieved. The sandwich in front of her wasn’t large but she wasn’t starving. At least compared to him, who seemed to order everything on the menu. When he offered her some soup she refused quietly. Her stomach didn’t want hot soup in it, not at the moment. She was at a loss for words; she didn’t really want to continue the earlier conversation of families and pasts though. Maybe she could invite him to the Caribbean islands with her and Claude, but then again, he was a very polite guy, and some guys like that didn’t seem to do the whole co-ed trips, at least that’s what someone had told her. She kept quiet as she took bites of her sandwich and sips of tea or water. Conversation while eating was messy, not something Kysse enjoyed. As she ate she wondered what ingredients were on the sandwich, trying to remember everything. That was a habit of hers, taking recipes and twisting them in different ways or adding things here and there. Once after she took a drink of water she smiled and spoke up. “This place is delicious. Thank you for bringing me here.” |

He took Kysse's decline with respect and drank his soup. Elial had really let his mind wander on the subject, and he suddenly realized how rude it was for him to keep rambling on about it. Who knew if she wanted to hear that kind of stuff? Still...the young man wondered if Kysse would ever like to travel, and if so, if she ever wanted to go to Europe...maybe that was too much to hope for. Elial just felt so much better with company, even if he did not do well with it. He was of, perhaps, a different sort of breed, having been raised practically like royalty, which had its ups and downs. He decided not to dwell on it. Although Elial had ordered enough for what seemed like twenty men, he ate relatively evenly and had not seemed to have scarfed at all, though his meal was quickly diminishing as at a measured rate. If there was one thing he learned at all the fancy family dinners he had to attend with the many suitors for his sisters and celebrations for his brothers, it was how to eat a meal according to how the guest of honour, his father, or the host was eating the meal. Being able to gauge the quickness, but keep conversation light and diverting was key. Elial wondered if Kysse had ever been to a fancy dinner like that. He imagined that, even though she had a considerably different taste, she would fit right in with the attire, at least, but perhaps would feel uncomfortable around people like that. "It was my pleasure! I am glad that you enjoy the food," Elial stated, smiling and finishing off his soup. The sandwich was already devoured, alongside the pastries he had ordered. He remained calmly sipping his tea and looking over the cup at Kysse with a friendly gaze, hoping she would not feel uneasy. After closing his eyes and inhaling the delicious scent, the young Englishman continued, "So....tell me more about your plans! Do you have any other ideas about this trip except for relaxation? I do not know much about them, so you will have to enlighten me. I hear that there is much sunbathing and swimming, at least, that is what I read in a brochure one time..." |

It didn’t take long for the sandwich in front of Kysse to be eaten. The warm tea was gone too. It surprised her how fast he’d eaten and how clean his eating area was. She thought about what to tell him about the trip. “Well, I’m not planning it but my… dad has some things planned. I don’t know which island we’re going to or anything and it’ll be a two week trip I think. I’m allowed to take two friends, but I haven’t picked anyone. I was thinking of maybe my room mate… or maybe… you.” Her head went down a bit as she bit her lip and blushed. That was harder to say than she’d expected. There was a lot Kysse didn’t know about Elial when she thought about it and there was a lot that he didn’t know about her. It was odd to her. He seemed to be figuring out things about her on his own, or maybe it was her imagination, but how else would he have known to hold her face to look at him while he said what he said in the library? Without lifting her head she grabbed for her water glass and almost knocked it over. Quickly she grabbed it with both hands clasped around the cup. Luckily only a little spilled and only on her bare forearms. A sign of relief escaped her before she took a drink from the cup. When she set it back down her blush was gone and she was actually looking at him. |

Elial just nodded as she spoke...that is, until he mentioned inviting him on the trip. The young man nearly fell out of his chair, so to speak. There were not many things that took him off guard, but he certainly was not expected to be invited....did she feel guilty about all the things that had happened in the library and so, was trying to make up for it? Or did she honestly want his company? He did not know much about her...perhaps it was at the urging of her father that she invite a male friend? He did not know any of these facts, and so the thoughts kept playing through his mind, sending a blush to his own cheeks as he looked at the top of her bent head. Elial couldn't blame her for trying to escape his gaze. She seemed quite embarrassed about the whole ordeal, even enough to nearly knock of her glass. His hand was about to spring out to catch it, should it fall, but it did not. Meanwhile, he realized that Kysse probably had a lot of the same thoughts on her mind as he did...how they had not really spoken since Valentine's, how she and him weren't extremely close friends...so he wondered why she would extend the offer even more than he had already been wondering. Although his brain continued to rustle through facts, feelings, and memories, Eli nudged him mentally, "Say something!" Finally, as she lifted her pretty face to look at his, the young man smiled with a bit more confidence. He knew that things were not final, of course, but that did not mean that they could not discuss it! "Thank you...for considering me. I am very honoured! It would be a delight to go on any trip with you, but if things do not work out, that is alright. I hope...well, it might be bold, but I hope that one day you might come to England with me, maybe to see my family's estate. There are very pretty gardens and the country side is very riveting...if that is what pleases you." |

Kysse felt a bit awkward then. She knew they weren’t such good friends and that maybe she was being forward. Genuinely she wanted him there, whether or not they were good friends or not he had treated her so kindly in the past. She still saw him as a friend. It wouldn’t be a problem if he said no but in the end he agreed, or so she thought, to go. His response shocked her. “Estate?” So he came from a wealthy family? Then they both came from the same perspective of family income. She still felt a bit embarrassed at her own actions. Asking him seemed so sudden. Things were still very different. But now she was more excited to go on the trip. Though she didn’t know what would come of it, having him there would be better than being alone, even if she were with her father as well. “I’m very glad that you want to go.” Kysse wasn’t very used to rejection but she was still scared of that sort of out come. Her smile returned as her cheeks slowly faded back to their original color. As she sat there her hands still clasped around the water cup her eyes watching it before turning to watch him again. The word, “estates,” was still on her mind. No wonder he treated her the way he did, he came from a wealthy background, unlike herself. Maybe if she told him her feelings on the way he spoke to her he would stop. Then again, it could be one of those unbreakable habits. He didn’t have to be so nice though. What if him excepting was just a form of courtesy and he really didn’t want to go at all? That would be on the back of her mind for a while. |

Elial hoped so much that he was not coming off as arrogant or conceited. He usually did not speak about his family nor the wealth that they had, but mentioning the land seemed to perk her interest, or at least her curiosity, and the young Englishman hoped that she would not be uncomfortable with having such a friend. "Er...yes. My family owns a bit of land in the English countryside...it is not much, but it is, in my opinion, far too much for just a father and his sons and daughters...especially since many are leaving the nest so to speak. My oldest sister is already married and my brothers are involved with the militia." Why was it that he spoke so much about his family even though he did not wish to? Elial began to realize that maybe it was because he was nervous that he talked about those other things rather than the moment. He decided to turn things around immediately, and so very abruptly he change the conversation topic. "About this trip...you said that perhaps you would invite your roommate? Is this friend, if I may ask, a male or a female? I do not wish to make them uncomfortable with my presence...and of course with my not knowing much of traveling and all, I hope not to be more of a burden than a boon. Are there many things I should plan on packing?" Now that Elial was beginning to think of it though, his mind fell on her father. Her father! What kind of impression would he make on the man? Was he the type of fun-loving, care-free? Or was he very strict and demanding? Judging on the very little Kysse had ever mentioned, the dark-haired man began to form an image in his mind and tried to fit a personality to it. This image was hazy though, considering he did not have many facts. Maybe Elial would ask the woman about it...or maybe it was another touchy subject that he should not bring up. Things were so difficult to communicate at times and he did not want to appear nosy and rude. |

His explanation didn’t quite help ease her feelings. But that wasn’t something she was asking for. She still sipped at her water. Not only did he come from wealth but he had a big family. Kysse never had any brothers or sisters, her real mother couldn’t have children not since Kysse, or should we say Jill, was born. That and Claude never took in any other children. The conversation turned from his family just as Kysse was thinking of hers. It turned to a packing list. At the abrupt change Kysse giggled and paused to think about that herself. “All I can think of at the top of my head is making sure you bring your swim suit. I’m sure if you wanted to wander around the islands you’d be allowed, you don’t have to spend all your time with me. And my room mate is definitely a girl; I didn’t think our dorms were co-ed. I’m not sure if she can come or not because she’s been having off and on plans with her own family because of recent events.” With that she shrugged and looked back down at her water though she still wanted to look up at his ruby eyes. The thing about his eyes was they were amazing though they were such an odd color. The vivid blue of her eyes was so different from the relaxing red of his. It was hard to look away. Her smile had faltered at thoughts of her emotions but it returned reassuringly as she looked back up at him. After all, she didn’t want him thinking something was wrong when it wasn’t. |

"Oh....swim attire..." Elial said, a little startled, but in the back of his mind knowing full well that there would probably some sunning and swimming going on. He did not mind the water...in fact, he imagined himself sailing on the seas some day...perhaps...instead of joining the militia like his brothers. He hated the idea of just serving on the land for his country, especially in times of peace. How boring it would be! Despite all the interesting imagery in his head, and of course, his gentlemanly self, thoughts of Kysse and himself in bathing attire began to penetrate his mind. "I have some swim shorts," he offered, smiling almost apologetically for not having much more. "Will there be some formal dinners with your father?" It was not as though Elial were some boyfriend she was presenting, but he still wanted to be presentable. There was nothing wrong will looking good to the general public. It was something that his father had always ingrained within his mind. 'People are always watching you, especially when you least expect it!' Elial would be sure that he would not be caught off guard. Taking a bit of his long dark hair from off his shoulder, he ran his fingers through it a bit unceremoniously and then, realizing his habit in an instant, threw the bundle over his shoulder again. Actually, Elial wondered what Kysse thought of his long hair, which was quite different than Eli's short blonde tousled yet clean look. How he managed to look so good, the young English counterpart did not know. He wished he was as attractive as Eli seemed to be... Sighing without realizing it, he cast his burgundy eyes away from Kysse and stared a bit a the light dancing from the flickering neon open sign on the mosaic tiles. Elial was beginning to wonder a lot of things when it came to Kysse and what she thought of him. |

The large cup Kysse drank water from was almost empty. As a result from her continuing to drink, the unsightly slurp noise escaped her straw sometime after he had questioned her about formal attire. After laughing nervously she put the cup down on the table, where it would stay. Then she thought about past trips she’d taken with Claude, they really hadn’t ever gone somewhere without having to do something formal. Then again, there were so many reasons for the trips he took, it was usually always for work. “I’m not sure, but to be safe, I’d say bring all you can. Formal, casual, what have you. I might just spend all my time on the beach though, whether Claude likes it or not.” Maybe she should tell him some stuff about Claude, such as the reason she doesn’t really call him dad. There was a lot she could leave out. She thought about it, and then decided against it, if he really wanted to know he could ask. When he looked away she did too. The neon sign caught her attention but she averted her eyes from it to instead look out the window they weren’t far from. Her hands rested in her lap folding and unfolding the chiffon material. Out of no where she had an unfamiliar thought. Her mind put the image of Elial’s bare arm in her mind. With that she imagined him shirtless. A vivid blush crossed over her cheeks. What on earth was she thinking? As she tried to think of other things she sort of panicked inwardly and slouched a bit. Her head bowed to hide her cheeks and she bit her lower lip. He would definitely notice her actions, why was she being so dramatic? Sitting up straight again she laughed nervously and pulled her hair into her face to conceal her red cheeks. With that she began fidgeting with her long blonde locks of hair, while avoiding eye contact. ((Sorry… that was 100% random!)) |

((OOC: Makes it realistic! XD Just like Sound and the Fury...basically an endless thought!)) Elial nodded to her response, which he deemed appropriate. He knew that it was probably a better idea to pack everything that he possibly could, or at least, reasonably. That was the best that he could make of the situation. The young man was about to say more when suddenly he felt a warmth inside of him begin to rise up his chest like a flame. He knew the feeling instantly, but this time, as the times past, could do nothing to counteract it and with a glimmer from the bracelet around his wrist, Elial's darker features dissolved into Eli's countenance. His blonde strands, most like Kysse's but definitely a different shade were quite shorter than Elial's and merely whisped at his ears and the nape of his neck. His attire, the same as Elial's, seem to keep about the same shape, except for the broadening of the shoulders a bit more and the change in height. Eli blinked and bright, bold, and endearing green eyes stared out from behind the blonde bangs to look at Kysse. He almost had a Peter Pan, pixie look about him with such features and a slight but natural English blush to his cheeks. His skin was a bit paler than Elial's. Blinking, the slightly older man looked to the young woman before him and offered almost an apologetic gaze. "Hello Kysse...sorry for this unwarranted intrusion but as of late it has been increasingly difficult for Elial to control our transformation...I feel a strange sensation and a pull and immediately I am exposed to the world! Do forgive me." Eli took a while to look around before frowning. "I feel a very strange sensation though...as if something does not belong..." |

As soon as Elial began switching to become Eli, which was something Kysse couldn’t remember if she’d witnessed, but it still took her by surprise. In the state of panic she shuffled in her seat looking all around. Now really wasn’t a great time to totally change your appearance! While she looked around no one seemed to pay them any mind. How on earth did they not notice?! She seemed to cause more of a commotion than him but no one was looking at either of them. Jumping from her own seat she walked to him. She slid into his side of the booth and listened to what he was saying. He couldn’t control his transformations, but Elial never could. Her hand cupped around her mouth and she was about to whisper something. He beat her to the punch saying something about how something felt strange. Her hand slid down to the booth with the other and both held her up close, but not too close to his face. She leaned toward him and was a bit confused by his conclusion. “What do you mean? What doesn’t belong?” Suddenly she felt very serious and the area seemed to fill with tension at his words. Unlike him she didn’t look around, she stared at him and didn’t panic at their closeness, the situation made her feel like she should be calm. Then again she forgot her nerves of being to close to either Elial or Eli. |

"No..." Eli continued, frowning and taking the girl's hand abruptly. He had no time to spare. "...something is not right at all. Come with me." Immediately he exitted the booth with her and took a steady, but calm walk toward the door. No one even looked up to see their departure. Besides, the young Englishman did not care about paying at the moment. He would rather not lose his life! As they took to the night air and he gazed up and down the street, Eli chose to turn left and began walking with Kysse's hand still in his right. "Have you ever had the feeling that you are being watched or followed? When I was in the military I often felt this feeling and it was usually correct. I learned to trust it and almost harness it and therefore, whenever I feel this sensation, I know to leave wherever it is I am at or to prepare for some sort of confrontation. Since you are here with me, and since Elial is unable to answer me at the moment, I am left to flee." The air was breezy but warm and the moonlight from the sky provided white light in contrast to the blaring yellow of the street lamps. There were a few cars parked, but not many driving in the streets because they had left so late from the hall to come downtown. Eli was still averting his bright emerald eyes to and fro in search of unknown and unseen pursuers. He did not want to be caught off guard. It was a good thing that Elial always had his sword with him, which now rested at Eli's left side away from Kysse. |

In a situation such as this, though Kysse couldn’t feel the threat, it was pure stupidity to blush at him grabbing her hand. At first he pulled her along, she wasn’t even sure what they were running from. As they ran he explained his feelings. Eli wouldn’t have shown himself if nothing was really wrong right? Weird thing was, she never felt watched or followed, not in a sense of tension like this. On the other hand she felt curious. The other side of her that liked danger and such was jumping at the chance to stop and look around, to find the culprit. “I understand.” She kept her pace behind his a little. As he held her hand she also held his, tightly at that, incase she tripped, because she always did, even if she did as he asked. The respect for Elial and Eli shoved her curiosity aside. She also realized just then how easy it was to run in this dress. As if on cue she stumbled. Abruptly she looked down and caught herself from falling on her face. Her right hand pushed her forward off the ground and she was again up at his side. The grip felt tighter now. For a moment she wished she’d had someone else inside her to take over when things got tough. More thoughts entered her mind and she suddenly remembered to watch where she was going. With some form of luck, which normally eluded her, she managed to miss an unlevel crack that would be the death of her. Or at least it would be the death of their run. This was almost frustrating, mainly because she saw and felt no danger, just tension, they couldn’t be the same thing. |

Although Elial appeared to be unconscious within his own mind, Eli was quite alert and when he felt something spike against his neck again like a sharp pain and warning, he turned slightly, wrapped his arm around Kysse's waist and dodged into a very tight alleyway between two buildings. The entire space was not even four feet wide and just barely was able to fit the two of them, but Eli wasn't concentrating on formalities or propriety. He was in his soldier mind and was concentrating. Breathing in long even turns, he put his hands to either side of Kysse's head against the wall behind her as if to shield her from anything that came their way. "Shhh," Eli whispered, his face centimeters from hers. Within a few moments, nothing more, there appeared a very strange shadow from the other side of the street. It slinked from behind a car and then through a building before coming into slight contact with the yellow street lamp. An aversion to the light made it screech like a bird before it dodged away again. Its form, appearing to be rather human-like, looked to and fro before seeming to drift a ways down again. Eli cursed himself for not drawing the sword before entering such a tight and confined space, but he couldn't do anything about that now. Not even realizing that they were so close, the young Englishman turned his head down for a minute to the look at the girl and found her eyes just close to his own. "Are you alright? I am sorry to have brought this upon you." He waited a few seconds before looking out the alley that they were sandwiched in again before shifting slightly and wedging Kysse father back so that his entire body occupied the entrance to the alley and that anyone who saw would have to fight him first in order to get through to her. |

It was a split second when Eli grabbed her and dove into the ally. Before being pushed into the small space she hadn’t had time to do anything, therefore she could only feel the ripping material beneath her, not that that mattered at all, it couldn’t be helped. If them being quiet kept the thing, whatever it was, away, her thudding heart beat would definitely attract attention. Eli’s attractive face was less than an inch from her own. Whatever feeling that currently distracted her from the danger couldn’t be helped. But then, with danger approaching she couldn’t help but panic. One hand was still gripping, though she wasn’t sure if his hand was even there while the other gripped at the collar of his shirt. He couldn’t leave her now. Then her thoughts actually went to the danger as her eyes darted from Eli to the shadowy figure. Why was Eli pushing her back, whatever was there wasn’t after her, why would it be? Her worried expression made it look like she could start crying at any moment. When she looked up his face was still so close to her own. To comfort him she would have reached up to touch his pale skin. Instead she closed her eyes and tried taking even breaths to try and calm her heart. Without saying a word to anything he said she merely nodded. Now her head was to the side almost pressing against one of the walls. She didn’t have to be the damsel in distress, but this foe wasn’t something to be taken lightly, a human such as her couldn’t fight something quite like that, or could she? |

"Follow me," Eli whispered, taking her hand in his again before peering out of the alleyway and taking the right instead this time. They passed by Pear in such a short while that Eli was surprised that they had escaped such a far distance. It had been at least half of a block! Turning around and making sure that all was well, he nodded to the young woman and slowed their pace. "Whatever that was...I believe we are out of danger...but perhaps we ought to keep moving just in case...Will you join me?" Eli did not know many places around the city, but he did know the park for that was where Elial often tried to escape to aside from the small cafe. The moonlight lit the paved roads that slowly turned into cobblestone as the historical district began to loom before them. By the pure white light, the young Englishman delivered Kysse to a darling park where there was a lovely fountain running and fresh flowers that were curled up slightly in the darkness. They were bright and peaceful, but smiled at them as they passed. The surroundings were calm and quiet. Eli listened carefully and only heard the sound of water. Still, his hand would be at the sword in an instant should he need it. Offering the young woman a compassionate smile with both his pale lips and blazing green eyes, Eli led her to the fountain for her to sit if she chose to. "Elial often comes here to read and find solace. I hope you like it here...I find it most peaceful. There are not many places like this anymore...especially in big cities." |

His hand gripped onto hers and they were off again. Once more they were running her eyes were turned to look behind them, fear of pursuit. Wide eyes paid little attention to her footing but she stayed up right. When they came to a sudden decrease in speed she bumped him gently. Her eyes connected with his when he asked her to come with him. Did she honestly have a choice? They continued on and she made no sound other than that of a pounding heart and increased breathing. Sad eyes looked up at his smiling face and she was suddenly confused at his smile. Her expression reflected wonder as she stood in front of him. Instead of sitting she fell into him. After her arms wrapped around him, her hands pulled at the material of his clothes, and she hid her face in his chest. She wouldn’t cry, she couldn’t, she was still in a state of shock but she refused to cry. It was an odd feeling being so close to him and holding on to someone. The tone in her voice was soft and weak. “What was that? Are you alright?” That was all that was manageable to hear. His clothing muffled her words as she held herself to him. The breeze around them pushed and pulled at the skirt of her dress allowing her to feel where her dress had been torn. The danger was aside though, the danger they had encountered before, in the field, or at least it seemed so similar. She let out a sigh but didn’t let go of him and her heart still beat wildly. Eli was taken aback by the sudden embrace, but nevertheless, enveloped Kysse in his strong arms and held her to him protectively as it was instinctive to him. Somehow, the feel of her dress and her hair beneath his fingertips brought back shattered memories that still remained as fragments in his mind. The young Englishman closed his eyes and felt at peace, however, a powerful stir awoke deep within him and he could feel Elial's presence there, awakening from the slumber by the rush of emotions and blood to his mind. Blushing through the darkness, Eli made comforting noises as he stroked Kysse's beautiful golden hair for a few moments and thought of what exactly the shadow had been. "I do not know what it could have been...but I am sure that Elial and I will find out. There are still many books to read in the libraries of the world. Besides, there has not been any encounter yet in which the two of us have not faced and conquered. As for me, Bluebell, I am quite at ease now." Before he could catch himself or really know why, the name had escaped him. Eli blinked, his verdant eyes reflecting the moonlight which was already reflected in the tranquil water of the fountain. Perhaps it was just a nickname that he had used before...or did it have more meaning? Eli didn't know...he racked his brain and did not know. He was certain, though, that the ever-observant Kysse would hear the name and wonder. He would just have to tell her the truth. |

Kysse’s thoughts reflected the shadow figure. She still didn’t quite understand. Neither did he, go figure. Her face turned but she still hung onto him rather tightly. There was a comfort there that she’d never felt before. Her head tilted so she could see the area around him though she didn’t quite want to. The sparkling water of the fountain was all she really saw. When he wrapped his arms around her she realized how close they were and blushed. With this she avoided looking up at him. “Bluebell?” Was that some sort of nick name for her, or for Elial? What he said didn’t make much sense. As soon as she felt the heat in her face recede she looked up at him hardly getting rid of the closeness between them. They weren’t as close as in the alley but they were still only inches, if that, apart from each other. Her heart beat seemed to beat harder when she realized their closeness, but she didn’t pull away. Whether it was Elial or Eli, they both were too good at this ‘making Kysse blush’ game. |

Avoiding the thing entirely, Eli gave the girl a swift hug and took a step back so that they were farther then than they had been just a few moments before. He offered a comforting and apologetic smile before asking, "Are you alright now? Is it too chilly?" The wind had picked up a bit and the nighttime delivered a cooler air than the day, of course, and with the fountain right next to them, the small droplets of water felt like a mist against his skin. Eli wanted to make sure that Kysse did not fall ill, and so he would take her back to school if she needed to. A part of him, though, thought desperately of the sky and how it appeared so many years before. He marvelled at how, over centuries, the sky was still the same. Although there was a bit of light pollution, Eli could see a number of celestial bodies governing the dark net above them. "Look," the man said, his green eyes now appearing as dark as winter's night with moonbeam light flecking his gaze. "There is Orion!" Quite frankly, Eli had not remembered the last time he took actually observed the sky. He had been taught, as Elial had, astrology and the constellations...how to depict weather patterns from the day and things, but after the war began he had not had much time for such things. |

When he pulled away she folded her arms quickly and sort of looked away. He may have hugged her but it wasn’t as comforting as being held. She looked away not wanting to look at him while feeling a bit rejected. By then she was expecting an answer. Instead he looked and spoke toward the heavens. The statement was directed at her. But in that moment she felt a tinge of anger. Why would he avoid the question? With her arms folded she turned her back to him. In a second she wouldn’t mind to walk away. Back to campus, back to her dorm, and back to her bed. Dreams were more comforting than this, than having a question ignored. Not only that, but truthfully, she didn’t want or have to deal with that. In fact, why not leave? With one foot in front of the other she was off, in which direction she didn’t even know. The fear of previous events was clouded as she walked away from him. Anger wasn’t something she often portrayed. This was a special occasion though, he was avoiding her, she was walking away, simple, no? |

To Eli, the thought of turning attention to something different was something that often brought comfort to mind. He had lived his life with confrontations brought to him, and so, found it difficult at times to address them himself. He noticed instantly, however, when Kysse began to head off in the opposite direction...Was she mad at him for just hugging her? Could she be angry that he had dragged her intro trouble and had ruined her outfit and gone through all that mess for some phantom that he saw only a glimpse of. Or maybe she was angry that he had not really responded to her in a way she wished. Eli had no idea, most like it was seeming to be these days. "Kysse...please do not leave!" Eli called after her, but instead of watching her quickly receding form, his eyes diverted to the shadow dodging toward her at lightening speed from its hiding place behind a large rose bush. "WATCH OUT!" And just as fast, the Englishman's familiar hilt was in his hands, a shink of metal sliding from its sheath. He drew back his swordarm and there was a brilliant flash of light again when, in that instant, the blonde man brought his arm forward and up in a defense for Kysse, for the creature had lunged. It sunk its razor incisors into the metal armbands that had just formed, no damage to them appearing. The silver covered Eli's entire forearms and lined with green and gold trim with leaf designs scrolling along the edges, the pattern matched his changed outfit. The white robes extended into long sleeves with gold trim. His pants were brown leather with straps and buckles that matched the vest beneath the outer robes. A large brooch with the family crest held the robe clasped together at his chest. In his hair appeared a line of silver beads and blue beads woven in to a longer strand of blonde near the front of his ear. Eli slashed the sword forward to dislodge the creature, which now appeared as a very large wolf with golden eyes. It held onto his arm firmly, as if trying to rip it off, but let go the instant Eli's sword nearly penetrated its gray fur. But something about those eyes were so familiar. "As adamant as ever, Eli," growled the beast in a deep voice that rumbled the cobblestone beneath them. Eli took a step back with his arm extended in front of Kysse, his sword at the ready in the other and the white robes flowing in the wind. His green eyes, surreal and glimmering like those of an animal accustomed to the dark, appeared to pierced the night. The three of them stood under a disgustingly yellow lamp. |

Don’t leave? Please, why would she stay? She didn’t ask him to show her the stars. Before she could turn to answer in reply she felt a familiar presence. When he yelled at her she turned to meet the gaze, or presence, of the shadow thing from before. With a yell she jumped back and tripped, as expected. Why was it after her and not Eli? It advanced on her faster than she could imagine but Eli was there to great it. From behind Eli she couldn’t quite see the outcome. It seemed as if the thing were still there after their impact. In fact, whatever it was, spoke. It knew Eli so it could leave her alone. What did it want from Kysse when it seemed to seek revenge with Eli? She gapped at the scene before her. Her hands held the ground behind her, holding her up, and her legs were sprawled out in front of her. Though the hem of her dress was completely gone she grabbed at it, gripping the material for some sort of comfort. Everything seemed unreal and despite that he hadn’t answered her question! She did not want to look at the shadowy creature that was now standing before them in a different form. As they confronted each other she looked at her hands that hung unto the dress even tighter. |

Although the voice was distorted, there was no mistaking that it seemed quite familiar to him. Eli, his face now perplexed and on guard, pointed the sword at his opponent, the giant silver wolf huffing in the night, panting from the burst of energy it had expended in order to try to nab Kysse. "Who are you?" Eli demanded, the yellow light of the lamp creating a sharp reflecting light on his sword. He wanted to know, burned to know. WHY was this creature familiar to him? Why had he seen it before? "Oh, but it would be too easy for me to tell you," the fearsome animal growled, expanding his jowls to a frightful grin. "We will let you find out soon enough..." With that, the animal backed away slowly. "I will let you both live for now..." And just as soon as he had sprung from his hiding place, he was gone again. Eli stood in the same position, frozen for a few moments just listening to the receding steps to make sure that he was truly gone before looking to Kysse behind him. His sword was still at the ready, should the creature return. "Kysse? Are you hurt?" Eli asked in a soft, apologetic voice. His green eyes were shaded with trouble and worry. |

When the creature had left Kysse sighed heavily. The sigh reflected her feelings of relief. Her torso bent forward and her hands rested after gripping her skirt. He would let them live this time. Did that mean she should stay away from Elial if this was what would come out of it? His words distracted her and she looked up at Eli. She looked rather irritated. He had asked if she was alright. In a manner of defiance she decided to not answer, as he hadn’t answered her. Instead she just stood up and pulled at the newest rip in the delicate material of her dress. It now rested three or four inches above her knees, it just depended on where you saw it, the back was higher from the earlier fall. As she stood she looked at him. There wasn’t so much distance between them but way more than before. Her expression didn’t change. She hated seeming so angry and mean but she felt the urge to leave. Then again she didn’t want to travel home alone, because for some stupid reason that thing had been after her too! But she also didn’t want to seem as though she were using him, which would be bad. She was about to ask him something but figured he wouldn’t answer or wouldn’t know. So instead she stood in silence watching him with a sort of bitter expression. |

Eli did not know what to do. He could not determine whether it was safe enough to move on, or whether he should remain where he was, frozen to the cobblestone with the beautiful fountain that remained untouched trickling behind him and creating soothing ripples. He was about to sheath the sword when a sudden pain ripped through his chest, as if someone had taken a searing hot rod and thrust it through. The weapon clattered to the stone beneath him and the armbands retracted to the bracelet on his wrist again. He fell to his knees and tried to breath, fought to get oxygen into his lungs, but it was if a monster was strangling him. He clawed at the stone and dirt, bent over and red. "ELIAL!" Eli cried inside, tears forming from the strain and the pain of it all. "Please....help me..." There was a patient glow, and Eli's clothing changed back to Elial's robes, and then after a moment, the young Englishman collapsed onto the ground, his chest hitting the stones and his arms sprawling in front of him. After a moment, the blonde strands turned deeper and deeper until they extended and Elial resumed form. In a sigh of relief and utter exertion, he whispered, "Kysse...." |

Before she could cross her arms and turn around angrily Eli collapsed. With a gasp she a first watched, afraid something might happen, or he might lash out. As soon as the hairs on his head began fading and he fell, chest first, onto the ground. In a second she was at his side, pulling him to her. In a motherly fashion she knelt beside him and pulled his head into her lap. In an almost odd way she held his upper body up, with little effort. As she held him she breathed evenly hoping for the pattern to be mimicked, from her slow steady breaths to his. Inside she felt panicked but she couldn’t let him see. She couldn’t resist running her fingers through his hair and sort of rocking him. A sympathetic expression was easily seen on her face. While they rocked she bowed her head toward him and watched his face. “Are you alright?” Her voice reflected panic but it was a soft whisper. All she could find herself thinking was, “please be alright.” She just couldn’t tell what had happened and why once Eli was gone the pain was to, or at least that seemed the case. Instead of running her hand through his hair again she let it rest on his jaw while the tips of her fingers rested somewhere behind his earlobe. |

Elial loved the feeling of Kysse's fingers brushing through his hair and then his cheek. It was one of the most comforting things that he could have asked for. He had not really had such interaction with anyone except for perhaps his sister. Even in England at royal parties and such there was no exchange except for dances, which he enjoyed, but was not completely a fan of. He did it out of formality and attributed his indifference toward them to the fact that he usually danced with the women his father wanted him to marry. Elial felt such a tiredness that he could barely budge even though he forced his mind to make him move. With a slow clank of the sword, the young Englishman tried to turn but found it too painful. There was a sharp and heavy feeling in his heart. He wondered what was wrong. Trying to respond to Kysse's question through the haziness in his mind, Elial exhaled, "...I believe so..." He blinked his eyes open slowly and looked up at the woman whose long blonde strands seemed to glow even more with the moonlight. Her face, although before contorted in anger and frustration, was now so calm and soothing, that he could not help himself. Offering up a smile, Elial whispered in a weak voice, "Your eyes are so beautiful..." |

His answer was more soothing than silence and she couldn’t keep a gentle smile off her face. She could tell he was trying to move. Perhaps he was uncomfortable there, or with her in that situation. Either way she stayed as she was. At his other words she felt a bit shocked. How could he think of that in his current state? The shock was clear on her face but her smile was still there. Bending over him she wrapped her arms around him again. Never before had she put herself in a situation where she was embracing another with these feelings. Was it stupidity or delirium that made him speak so openly? He wasn’t the type to say something without it meaning something. That’s something she had learned about him. He was slowly becoming someone she could open up to that she could tell her past to. Still she merely hugged him, hopefully not smothering him, as her thoughts reflected all they had been through. |

Elial was pleased to be enveloped in Kysse's arms, relieved, and warm. He felt himself slowly fading, however, and tried to keep himself awake. The bright eyes in the night that twinkled at a distance mocked him and his insecurity, and he knew that there was no turning back. This was the beginning of the path to the future. The mysterious beast that he remembered just vaguely would be the key. He gazed at Kysse with the bleary eyes and blinked several times. "Please...help me? I have to get up...we have to go...we should not remain here any longer..." Elial managed to say. It was not that they needed to leave in haste for fear that the massive animal would return to maul them in his weakened state, it was that they were not comfortable in that part of the city and far from the reassuring barrier that the school provided. The Englishman, his long strands of black hair free from any tie, flowed over his shoulders as he tried to sit up and then stand, but his arms were too weak even to lift up his sword for leverage, and his legs would barely budge. What were they going to do? Grunting, Elial nodded to Kysse. "I cannot move...perhaps you should hail a taxicab?" |

She pulled away and nodded at his words. With that she put her hands up as if to say, “Stop.” Stepping back on her right foot she lifted herself off the ground. “Stay right here, alright?” Within a second she was off toward the busy street. Well, it wasn’t too busy then, not at that time of night. With skilled lips, she pursed and whistled as any New Yorker would. With that a cab pulled up. With similar actions she requested that the driver stay put. It took little time to run back and pull him up to her side. “Try as best as you can to walk.” Wow, this seemed familiar, only that last time it was Elial walking her to a car. With that she was off once more, easily holding his weight though he was much bigger than she was. Luckily the driver was still there when she pulled Elial to the street. The driver must have thought Elial was drunk rather than hurt, mainly because Kysse wasn’t requesting that they rush to the emergency room. While balancing him and her own weight she slid him into the car and followed after shutting the door behind them. Here she was practically on top of him, though not on purpose. Still she didn’t put much distance between them as she pulled her legs off his. The car provided a sense of comfort and protection. As it drove forward, back to school, Kysse paid all attention to Elial. Perhaps he would spend the night in her dorm again, at least until he were well again. |

Elial was amazed at Kysse's ability to hoist him up, but he was not going to dwell on that. He did try his hardest to walk and to provide some sort of help in the matter, but to no avail. He merely scuffled his feel along and clung to his sword with weak fingers, as if he had just woken up and could not feel a thing. Impressed by the force that she exerted to get him in the cab, and even more so for the beginning part where she whistled to call it, he could only offer a smile. The ride through the town and back through part of the country was uneventful. Elial's breathing evened out quite a bit and he only blinked up at her every once and a while. It was really more of exhaustion than anything that was preventing him from speaking and from communication with her in any way. The young man did feel more of his strength coming back, however, and was pleased as they reached their destination that he could at least sort of raise himself. Part of him knew that Kysse was going to pay for the bill, and he wanted to argue for it, but there was no hope in that now. Elial just tried not to be a nuisance. He failed in this task, unfortunately, because as he tried to remove himself from the cab, he only managed to drop himself onto the cobblestone of the courtyard. With his dark hair pooling around him, Elial grunted, knowing that there was nothing broken, and merely apologized to Kysse some more. What had drained him so much of his energy? It could not have been the mere transformation to Eli. He did that often now, and could feel the exertion, but knew the cost was not that great. Perhaps it was more...perhaps something of that beast had taken life from him. He knew not. All Elial knew was that if he had not changed, then both of them would not be breathing now, and certainly he would not be back safe on campus. That was because of Kysse. |

As Elial slumped out of the cab the driver put his arm over the back of the seat. Kysse had already gotten out and put her hands on Elials slumped figure. She popped back to the window and offered the man the cash for the ride over. With that he offered her advice on taking care of Elial. Though his words were advice his eyes told lies as they looked over her figure and torn gown. She rushed off to aid Elial. “Be careful would you? We’re going to my dorm… as usual.” If that were overheard, it could be taken the wrong way. But Kysse knew that nothing would come from him being alone with her in her dorm. Not only would Rizel, if home, not let anything happen, but Elial was far too careful with her, and far too proper. A night alone with him meant absolutely nothing and they both knew it. Again she pulled his arm over her shoulder. He may have been able to walk but she was still stronger than him at the moment. She concentrated on walking straight and not falling as she pulled him toward the dorm building. |
