Duani walked into the park with a CD player and some discs. It was a warm spring day and the park was crowded. Sadira had urged her to get out there and let the public hear her voice. The blue skinned girl was nervous but she had a good selection of songs to really show off her talent. Several veteran street performers were already there with crowds.

In a white tank top, jeans and no shoes and her hair in a simple braid she was lovely and approachable. The music began to play and Duani began a cover of Rhianna's "Take a bow".

How about a round of applause
A standing ovation

You look so dumb right now
Standing outside my house
Trying to apologize
You’re so ugly when you cry
Please, just cut it out

[Chorus]
Don’t tell me you’re sorry cuz you’re not
Baby when I know you’re only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
You really had me going
But now it’s time to go
Curtain’s finally closing
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it’s over now
Go on and take a bow

Grab your clothes and get gone
You better hurry up before the sprinklers come on
Talkin’ about, girl, I love you, you’re the one
This just looks like the re-run
Please, what else is on

(Chorus)

She looked around wondering if anyone even heard her. This was her first attempt at really meeting people other than her close circle of friends.

Typically, the time when there was the least amount of people in the park is mid-morning, and that's when Josh liked to visit, when he could sit on a bench in quiet without being disturbed. It was unfortunate that he had overslept today, and even more so that he didn't think beyond his habits and how congested everything could get at lunchtime. Normally, with all the anti-meta mentality surging through the world, he would have woken up very early and grabbed a ride to the city. That was not the case today as he had to secretly fly over to the park, which was a very large hassle. He landed in some tall bushes, creating a small ruckus. That ruckus frightened some small children, and had them running from the noisy bush in fear of a ghost.

Josh walked out from the bush, a couple of berries in his hand that he picked absent minded fit. He rolled a green berry onto his thumb and flicked it up, tilted his head back and caught it in his mouth, breaking it between his molars. His tongue grew thick as the unripe juice left a bitter taste in his mouth.

"That's no good." He spoke to himself as an older lady passed by. He dropped the berries into her pocket, perhaps she would be happier with them. "Sooooo many people." He spoke in a dejected manner. Obviously he would have liked there to be a smaller crowd.

He walked by and heard a couple muttering about something, but didn't take any note of it. Their problems didn't seem to concern him. What did catch his eye, or nose, was the smell of cooking food at the side of the path. His stomach growled in protest as he walked by, pulling towards the booth as he moved on by. Normally, his all consuming need to feed would over-rule any other instinct, but he saw something that could turn in a very dangerous way.

It was the only part of the park that seemed to be avoided by most people, save one or two angry looking middle-aged men. He didn't want the situation to escalate, so he walked in that direction calmly, and slowly. Excitement was the first ingredient to disaster. As he reached the outer circle of people it struck him what the couple had been speaking of.

Not many people were accepting of change, and blue is a few shades off in the color spectrum from the typical fleshy color. The white tank top accentuated that fact, making her skin stand out even more. Meshed together with the lack of shoes, it made Josh laugh a little inside just how unorthodox she looked at this moment to everyone else. He walked in past the outer ring, intentionally bumping into the men as he passed them, most people stood down after direct confrontations, and he was hoping this time wouldn't be any different. He was only a couple of arms lengths away when she had finished her song.

"The problem with todays music is that so few pieces can stand in a capella. Their lyrics just aren't meaningful enough." He spoke loud enough so that everyone around them could guess who's side he was on. "That's not to say your voice didn't bring the song justice." Josh took another step forward as the crowd started to lose heart, moving within an arms reach. "I'm Joshua, a pleasure to meet you."

This is not the reaction she had expected. She recoiled from the animosity not sure what to do about it. I mean it wasn't her fault they didn't like metas. She'd been away for a while and she hadn't realized that the attitude in the city had changed toward metas.

"Look what's the problem here? I'm not hurting anyone." she said not understanding why these men were harassing her. "Your an eyesore to decent human beings." one of them snarled. She stared at him her eyes going dead and empty. The men paused as she looked at them like that.

She stopped when a young man addressed her. "You're right but what can you do. I like to judge the quality of the sound and not the singer." she said looking pointedly at the trouble makers. They left grumbling.

"Thanks for that. I'm Duani. It's nice to meet you Joshua." she said looking around at the remaining four people clustered around her. They were waiting for something and she smiled. "Thank you for listening but I'm going to call it a day. It seems my presence is not appreciated by many so...bye"

She gathered up her things and prepared to leave when her stomach rumbled. "Looks like food time." she mumbled and looked around for food.

She was obviously frustrated, even if she didn't show it outwardly. After all, it would take a zen master to shrug off that kind of anamosity. This wasn't the world he had envisioned in his mind as he was awake laying in his bed all those years ago. It caused a strange concoction of emotions to swell, anger mixed with pity. It was like putting blue cheese on a baked potatoe, distasteful. Of course, Josh wasn't the type to dwell on the bad. As she finished picking up her belongings Josh was already walking past her.

"There's a food stand down this way if you'ld like to join me." He stated, half turning his head to look back at her. "If it helps, their Miso Soup isn't half-bad."

Among the types he wasn't, Josh never placed pressure on anyone to do anything. He didn't enjoy the feeling of some imaginary weight compelling him to do something he really wasn't up to. But the universe never really left him in clear situations. He couldn't be sure that one of the stymied attendee's wasn't planning something malicious that could harm her. To remedy his counter weight of integrity his walking pace was dramatically slower then normal, almost as if he was enticing her to join him. Each heel of his wingtip shoes dragged ever so slightly over the pavement, making a slight scraping noise.

"I'm sure they have other cuisine if you're not the soup type." He added, turning on his heel slightly, coming back to face her, a gentle smile played across his face. "Though to be truthful, I don't know anyone who doesn't like soup. I mean, it's soup."

He turned again, albeit very slowly, and continued down the path to where the stand stood in the full green grass. The stand itself was really just a small rectangular box with what was once bright white linen covering it and the cooking area. Now the linen covers had dots of dirt and watermarks on them from when it had rained or from any various stain-making substance. There were a series of benches in the front where the customers could sit and eat what they had ordered, but even the benches looked broken in, with streaks of worn wood showing under the polish it recieved on a bi-weekly status. A very old man sat at the far end with what looked to be his teenage grandson, the awning covering them from head to mid-shoulder. At the least they, or he, would get a little privacy from the gawking crowd.

Duani considered his offer a moment and trotted after him figuring that company was better than eating alone. "You're right soup is good. I wonder if they have a sea food variety." she wondered out loud. She followed you down the path and smiled at the little stand.

"Afternoon, sir." she said. She looked at the board at the food choices and sure there was a stew with scallops, shrimp, and crab meat. "The seafood stew please." she asked. The little old man smiled at her and filled a large wooden bowl and handed it to her with a spoon. "Thank you." she said with a smile and a bow.

The warm scent surrounded her as she settled on a nearby bench and waited for Joshua to come and join her. She closed her eyes and used Hison's trick of banishing unwanted nasty thoughts to back inner calm. Her frustration abated and she smiled at warm day and good food.

It would seem that there was some business that had to be done in tokyo, and the only few two morons who would take the job is Wesson Winchester and Ryunosuke Nightow. Hurray for those two when they found it to be nothing more than a kappa swimming in a pool. After the said annoying creature was dispatched, the duo decided to head a the and grab some ramen noodles. Luckily the two found a noodle vendor in the park (yeah they have these bloody things everywhere now), the two went along with thier noodles and started talking to one another.

"I mean I don't understand," Wes said to Ryu. "If its that important why did someone just give it away to them?" Ryu shrugged his shoulder.

"Love is an interesting thing. Thats why someone gives thier heart." Ryu replied to Wes.

"Yeah," Wes said, "But not litteraly!" Wes yelled at him. The two paused as they heard music coming fromt the side, Wes thought the voice sounded familar, but never could place the name. He quickly ran to the voice. Ryu quickly followed the running Wes.

"What the fuck man?" Ryu said as Wes running to Duanni. However the voice was just a ghost. Not in the literal sense, but when he got there, they were gone. Ryu started breathing loudly. Wes suddenly then smelled something, seafood. Though Wes was never a fan of seafood, he recognized the smell anywhere. So he started walking down the path at smell. Wes hoped he could find someone he knew from the past, so he walked towards the smell. Ryu, being the good little kitty, followed his friend in curiosity.

Josh was relieved by her change of heart, it was never wise to let the sunset with anger in ones heart. He kept his pace, the toes of his wingtips just barely clearing the pavement as he walked, and smiled as she trotted past him to the food stand. In general, the crowds attitude seemed to change. The general populace seemed to be less anxious, which made him glad. Everything seemed to be better, the hot sunrays seemed to lose a bit of it's burn, warming his skin instead of sapping it, a nice breeze began blowing, it was as if the day had been suddenly blessed.

*Looks to be turning into a good day after all.* He thought, tilting his head up into the sky ever so slightly.

He caught up to Duani as she was reading over the selections, and ordered himself a small bowl of Miso soup. In general it was his favorite, a simple taste that complimented other dishes just fine. All around average. When the old man finished with his bowl Josh took it by the sides like a large cup and sat in the vacant seat next to Duani. He brung the edge of the bowl to his mouth and took a small sip, letting the hot liquid lay on his tongue. It was just a little salty, and he was sure it would go perfect with some chicken. Josh placed the bowl on the counter and tilted his head towards this new acquaintence.

"So Duani, what do you do?" He asked, noticing that her eyes had regained the exuberance that they held before. Behind her he could see a couple of males running their way.

No one had ever asked her that question before. She tilted her head considering the inquiry. She mostly just tried to make it through the day without having a major meltdown. It was harder than it sounds. She did have hobbies though.

"I practice the sword techniques my father taught me, sing and I guess hang out with friends. I go to school as well." she replied sipping soup and considering her answer. She had but one by one they were gone. Kami, Fee, Rin, Vincent...and Zeth. His house was empty and there was no sign of him. Her heart ached and she fought the emotions and won...for now.

Her attention turned down the path where Josh was looking. Two males ran down the path. Duani grinned. She knew the one. Nice kid he had the same power as Sadira but subtly different. She didn't know his companion.

"Hey WES!" she called to get his attention.

While Duani was talking Josh took another small sip of his Miso soup, hot soup wasn't the typical choice of food or drink for summer time. It may have been because the heat of the soup inevitably made his chest feel like a furnace. But he enjoyed this bowl, absent-mindedly swirling his bowl. From her answers it seemed they had a few things in common. Swordplay and school houses, in most peoples minds two things that were mutually exclusive from one another, but somehow managed to be closely intertwined upon entering the magical kingdom of Anime High School. That school was something that he had in common with most people that he met. It seemed to him strange that he met more people from the school outside of school grounds, than inside the halls of the educational building.

"Judgeing from your life as a meta human I'll assume the school you're talking about is the same one I attend." Josh replied. "The one nestled between a mountain and forest?" He thought back on his swords, something he hadn't had to use in a very long time. He never striked with a sword unless he had all intentions on taking his opponents life, instead Josh liked to use his bare hands. The sword was a last ditch weapon, something he didn't dwell on useing, but something he didn't enjoy useing.

"I'm fairly accomplished with the sword. Of course, my swords aren't Katana's. I prefer the european style of sword, they tend to have a greater weight behind them. It makes it easier to strike through a target." He commented. He failed to mention the particular's about his swords, something he didn't deem necessary to impart. She then called out to what Josh assumed was one of her friends, Wes. Josh waited with a smile, the more people arround the merrier he became.

For all the people that Wes has seen through out the entire experience that he has been his school years of AHS. Wes could remember that his friends from the first year he like the most, and duanni was one of those guys, well girls. Wes smiled when he caught up to his old friend. He bowed down.

"How are you doing?" Wes asked "It's been ages since I've seen you." Wes then realized that he left Ryu him in the dust. Ryu however was able to keep up with the Wild Wes with just a few huffs and puffs of breath. Wes quickly turned back around back to duanni.

"This is a friend of mine Ryu nightow." Wes said, Ryu bowed down.

"Hello. Ryu said.
