So it was yet another fine day to be outdoors at AHS. Mild temperature, low humidity, a gentle breeze...not to mention, no advancing army on the school or massive explosions. Good times, Charlie thought as he sat surrounded by books in a particularly shady spot beneath a large tree in the school courtyard. ...or at least they would be, if it weren't for that damned noise... The source of the "damned noise" was a portable stereo sitting on a picnic table not far away, playing what Charlie assumed was the latest in psychological warfare...but without the cynicism, he figured it was probably just the latest music from the J-Pop scene. One and the same, in his mind. And, as one should have expected, in the mind of Charlie's less-than-normal looking big sister, Devi. Unfortunately, the latter was the one with an MP3 player to block out most of the noise. It wasn't hers, but Charlie'd made the mistake of arm wrestling Devi for the rights to the device for the day. As for Jack, well...Charlie had checked his card, only to find the privateer passed out drunk with a pair of earplugs in his ears. ...huh. Didn't know he could get alcohol in there. I'll have to remember that. "Hey, Devi...could you ask them to turn that stuff down? I'm trying to study, and tha-" Charlie started to ask, only to look up at his sister to find she wasn't only unable to hear him, but she had her eyes closed while she listened to what she considered far more enjoyable music, bobbing her head along with the beat of whatever song was playing through those earbuds. Whatever it was, it couldn't be worse than what Charlie had to hear now. A quick swat to her boots was enough to get her attention. For a while anyway, and from the look she gave him Charlie was glad his summons couldn't kill him...or could they? "You're interrupting my music, and I don't see a cute guy around. Or anything putting you in danger. What is it, and what is that god-awful noise?" "Well, that's what I was wanting to talk to you about. Do you think you could, y'know... ask those girls to turn it down a bit?" Charlie asked, almost timidly, as he pointed in the direction of three of the campus' female students. And a male student, who he assumed was dating at least one of them...mostly because he hadn't bothered to come out of his little social shell and figure out that he wasn't likely the only kid on campus with family. The black-clad Devi looked where he was pointing, only to look back down at her 'brother' with what was clearly mild annoyance. Or just regular annoyance. Whatever it was, one thing was for certain; asking which one was guaranteed to only make it worse. "And you can't do it because...?" "He looks like he could knock my teeth out the top of my skull, and god only knows what he can do if he's got any powers," Charlie replied, leaving out the bit where he’d admit he’d never be able to do more than stand there and stutter. Mostly because as much as he hated their music, Charlie had to admit he found the girls attractive. Still, last time he’d said he couldn’t talk to cute girls, he managed to get himself on Devi’s shit-list for the better part of a month… “Tch…fine, I’ll go. But you owe me! And you’d better get Jack to start giving you those fighting lessons if you’re so worried,” Devi replied, rolling her eyes before confidently striding over to the group in question to handle things. Charlie couldn’t hear anything that was said and, fully confident in his sister’s ability to ‘negotiate,’ went back to his studies…only to nearly jump out of his skin at the loud sound of a shotgun blast moments later. And although he knew full well whose it was, while he slowly looked up to look for the source he kept telling himself that it wasn’t from Devi. It was, and although there were no student casualties to report, the portable stereo was scattered all over the grass. “…what the HELL did you go and do that for! I said ask them to turn it down, not blast the damn thing! And why did shooting the damn thing even seem even a little bit like a good idea?! You could have hurt someone! Or worse, you could get us both expelled!” “It’s turned down, isn’t it? Besides, they refused and said you should go somewhere else. So I handled it. The music’s off, and nobody’s hurt. Now, if you don’t need me anymore, I’d like to get back to my own music.” If the death glares he was getting from the four students were any indication, he’d probably be needing her sometime in the near future…in fact, the only reason he felt even remotely safe now was because the other metas seemed to be more than a little wary about his sister…specifically, the 12-gauge pump shotgun she’d used to mercilessly execute their stereo. …God, I am so getting beaten up at lunch over this… |

The World Ends With You

It was about that time again. Yet another invention had been completed and it was time for testing. Over the course of Kotomi's stay at this school, she had created six devices including this one. She had only been at the school a week and she was already hard at working making things. Each of her inventions was weird and impractical, but her newest one was the weirdest yet. It broke so many laws of nature that it could make a person's mind explode for real if they tried to figure it out. And what was this wondrous invention? It was a fourth wall communicator. It was a device that let the user communicate with those in the fourth. However, the technology was very unstable. Even in her own super advanced realm, this device was dangerous and unpredictable. But Kotomi was sure she had gotten it right for the most part. That was what the testing was for. And what better place than the school courtyard to get it to work. And so, she walked out, just as the shotgun was fired and all the students brought their attention to the owner. That was all except for Kotomi. Sure, some one firing off a shotgun was crazy and weird, but what Kotomi was seeing in her communicator was much weirder. "Hmm....that username makes a lot of since. Of course some one has to be called Lost Marbles if they are reckless destroying other's property with a shotgun in the middle of school grounds where weapons aren't allowed." She said, as she read the post that had be placed in the realm of the fourth wall. "It's like reading the past..." She said with a wide smile. She then brought the communicator close to her mouth. "Umm...LostMarbles. Can you hear me? If you can, give me some sign while I talk to these obviously important people you posted about." She said, now walking up to Charlie instead of Devi. "You know, if something's the problem, you should take care of it yourself. You are a man....right?" She said sticking her tongue out. She was dressed lightly with a short sky skirt and a white tee that lacked shoulders, showing the straps of her white bra. She wore regular white tennis shoes on her feet and her orange hair was styled into pigtails tied with sky blue ribbons. |
