She ran through the forest. Shaleen had felt a building loneliness that only the pack could cure. When Shaleen agreed to become part of their pack she hadn't realized how much she would need them on an emotional level. The thought of depended on Jake for emotional was frightening in and of itself. Still here she was in the darkest part of the forest searching for her fanged friends. She plunged through the trees loving the speed in her legs. She needed to talk to Jake about something else. Rhys had found her again and she found that the bond she'd forged was not so easy to silence. He was an anomly in the wolf community. She had allowed Henry to bite and correct what had gone wrong with her. She loved the surge of power that had come to her. She knew the only other odd wolf out there was Ray but he was a born werewolf and they were naturally different from the bitten breed. She stopped in a clearing and her melancholy rose in her chest and out her mouth in the form of a haunting howl that echoed for miles. If her pack was nearby they would come to her call. She just hoped that they were within hearing distance. She sat on the ground and waited for Jake and the others to arrive. |

Her howl was heard for miles around, echoing through the air like a haunting lament. Then all was silent. Minutes ticked by at a leisurely pace with no forthcoming sign that her howl had met the ears of those she hoped to reach. Then, not far from Shaleen(perhaps disturbingly close), came a terrific howl of such magnitude that it seemed to shake the trees, causing hundreds of birds to take wing into the air in sheer panic. Just as things began to calm, and the squawking of birds and fleeing animals died down, a pair of gray eyes appeared from within the darkness of the thick forest brush, their predatory pupils almost luminescent as they examined the female within the clearing. The wolf that slunk forth into the clearing was clearly different from its natural cousin. For one thing, it was huge, its head easily level with Shaleen's shoulders, though its low to the ground stalking movements made this more difficult to discern. The claws were also a dead giveaway, for they were more like deadly curved talons than mere wolf's claws, but more than that, there was a semblance of intelligence behind those gray eyes. Intelligence perfectly blended with the guilt-free predatory instinct of a wolf. Moving to within a few short yards of Shaleen, the brown wolf cocked its head at her in canine fashion, almost questioningly. “You called?” said a voice from deeper within the brush. Stepping through without so much as a single leaf clinging to his clothes, was Jacob, the Alpha Werewolf who held the Domino territory in his...paw. Dressed in a simple black T-shirt and blue jeans, it was somewhat remarkable that his long black hair was not filled with burs and bits of crumpled foliage from trudging all the way through the forest, but then again, wolves did know how to move through their native forests. Calmly walking across the clearing and coming to stand beside the werewolf that had arrived before him, Jacob patted the beasts head and smiled, eyes fixed on Shaleen all the while. “Don't mind Gabe, he's just protective is all.” |

She had recognized him as alpha even before he had turned. It was the day Rhys and her got caught up in a two on two that ended badly for them. She had known by instinct that he was meant to an alpha of something and when he were well he offered her a family, a pack. Shaleen stared at Jacob always expecting to see something under those eyes that she couldn't quite place. The other wolf barely registered when Jacob came into the clearing. His words jolted her out of her daze. She shifted not sure how to say what she wanted. "I...I just needed the pack. I've been away and there was this loneliness that I couldn't get rid of and then it hit I needed time with my own kind." she said staring at the ground feeling akward and unsure of herself. "Rhys came to see me. I thought that whatever bond we had would die when Henry...changed me but it's still there and I hate needing him to be around I really do. I wish he would have agreed to be part of the park but he's too damn stubborn." as she grew angrier her accent grew thicker and she found it hard to speak. She sighed and looked at her alpha. "I need the pack more than I'd like to admit." There she said it, It had been hard to set aside her pride and admit that she, Shaleen, needed Jacob and the others but she had done it. |

Jacob's upper lip pulled back slightly at the mention of Rhys, clearly showing that his canine teeth were slightly longer and sharper than they should have been for a normal human being. “Ah, Rhys,” said Jacob, his voice holding a hint of a deep, bass growl. “Those of his 'breed' are not looked upon very kindly by our numbers for very specific reasons. They don't live like us, they don't hold to our rules, and whenever they do something to cause trouble it reflects badly on us. That is why for the longest time, it was our policy to kill those like him on sight.” Lying down at Jacob's feet, Gabe looked like a sentry of sorts, his ears pricked up, nose sniffing for any potential threats. In meanwhile, Jacob stepped away from Gabe and moved closer to Shaleen, his eyes slowly bleeding to wolf as the colors rearranged themselves, taking on a slightly different pattern as his pupils became predatory slits. “There is no need to feel bad for wanting what we all need. I used to be a very solitary person before my change, but that's obviously not the case anymore.” |

She was hyponotized by his voice which in retrospect probably isn't a healthy respnse. She felt a little better knowing that this wanting of companion wasn't hers alone. She sighed. "So what do I do about the odd wolf out. I can't balance him and the pack it won't work. As much as I need him around part can't stand to have him near and he's been lurking around the dorms so I can't go home to sleep without his scent filling my room. It's absolutely maddening. He wouldn't take a hint from me last time I was here...I was hoping as my Alpha you could intervene for me and make him leave me alone." she said finding herself leaning torward him almost touching. Her muscles shook as she kept herself from do the very thing she wanted. To touch those of her own kind and be touched by them but her outcast mentality was still in effect and she waited for the Alpha's approval. |

Jacob eyed Shaleen, thinking carefully for a moment or two before his hands went to her shoulders and made to pull her In close against him. It was more of an embrace than a simple hug, and in more ways than one. Unlike with humans, who might take the entire scene in very much the wrong way, Jacob and his race had very few social hangups about bodily contact, and wouldn't have looked upon this as being strange even if the two of them happened to be wearing far less than they were. Wrapping his arms around Shaleen, Jacob's head leaned down near her shoulder and took in a deep breath of her scent. She was clearly one of them now, and there was no denying it. Gabe, standing up from his spot, moved in behind Shaleen and nuzzled the side of his face against her back, growling softly in both contentment and agreement. “I can deal with Rhys if you wish. It'll give me a good reason to put him in line.” |

She buried her face against his chest sighing. She missed touch. Only Irea understood her need to touch and be touch without any sexual implications. When Gabe against her side she scratched behind the ear lovingly. She had longed for the pack and though only a few of them were here, the fact remained they were here and she felt better for it. "If you could it would be great. He's not like me anymore. It was fine when we were both outcasts but not that I have a pack take care of me...it would never work no matter how much I kid myself. He's part of a peice of my life that is over now and he needs to knwo that messing with me will bite him in the ass." she growled. Shaleen knelt burying herself in Gabe's fur loving the texture of it. She smiled at his sersonal scent and the underlying pack scent. That pack scent calm her tense nerves and allowed to relax for the first time in monthes. |

Allowing her to slip out of his arms as she knelt down to huge Gabe, Jacob smiled softly and sat down on the forest floor, not really caring if he stained his clothes in the dirt. For his part, Gabe nuzzled back against her a growled loudly, not in alarm or warning, but affection. Jacob, whose chin was now resting against his hand, which was in turn resting upon his bent right knee, frowned in thought. “I take it that Rhys wont be too happy once I tell him to stay away?” |

Shaleen growled back pouncing on Gabe in a playfull way grinning over at Jacob. "I can garuntee Rhys will be pissed to all hell and try to kick your ass for your troubles. He is stubborn and arrogant and hates being ordered about. He doesn't know when to accept an alpha even though it's the best thing for him." she replied snuggling happily with the other were. She suddenly stood stripped down and shifted herself. She hadn't been in her canine form for monthes other than the frenzied full moon nights. She shook her shimmering red gold fur. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't hide that colored fur if her life depended on it. She nuzzled Jacob her tail freely wagging. |

Jacob watched her shapeshift with careful interest, though it was her skill at changing that he was interested in, not her body. He'd been around far too many naked lycans to pay much attention to particular bits and pieces of anatomy. For the most part her shift was very fast and smooth, the sign of a lycan with some experience in the matter. Hand reaching up to scratch her behind the ears, Jacob spared a glance around them at their surroundings. “This really isn't the best place for a meeting, not this far into the forest anyways. I know we're monsters of a sort ourselves, but I've seen some of the things that like to lurk around these parts, and it's nothing we want to run into.” |

She loved the scratch behind the ears. Liger had used to do that back in her first monthes at AHS along with Jin. Rhys had tried to tie her down, in a bathtub. That hadn't worked out so good for him. He'd used silver on her skin searing more scars into the already tortured skin. If he was proposing a pack run she'd follow him anywhere. SHe loved to run in wolf form and would go for hours but it had been so depressing to run by herself. She squirmed about like an eager puppy. She sat on her haunches forcing herself to settle and focus on Jacob and Gabe who outranked her in the pack heirarchy. Shaleen still fidgeted keeping her now intense green eyes on Jacob. 'I'd follow him anywhere so long as we can RUN.' she thought shifting about in a sitting postion. |

Just as Jacob was beginning to stand so that the three of them could make their way from this accursed place, he froze in mid-movement, leaving him in a crouched position. Gabe as well seemed to freeze, ears swiveling back and forth as if trying to pinpoint the source of something. The ground beneath the shook softly, trembling with the impact of heavy feet. Trees rustled, and a peculiar scent filled the air, something not entirely unlike that of a feline. But this was no house cat. “Perhaps I spoke too la-” he was cut off as something smashed through the trees, a colossal blur of muscle and fur that leaped through the clearing at them. Shaleen, who was not directly in its path, was spared any immediate danger as it clearly went for Jacob. Not having the extra advantage of being in wolf form, Jacob could do little more than stare as the thing bore down on him like a freight train. At least that is until Gabe slammed into him with more than a little force, sending Jacob flying out of the way with a loud “OMPH!” of protest. Skidding to a stop along the dirt and leaf covered ground, Jacob pulled himself up onto his knees with a pained groan, grateful that his healing powers would soon take care of the bruised ribs he suspected he now had. Gabe, not all that worried about his notably resilient Alpha, turned to the beast and snarled loudly, teeth snapping at the air. ![]() As the beast took several steps backward so that all 3 of the lycans were clearly within its field of view, Jacob finally got a proper look at the thing. It was covered from head to toe in a thick mass of fur that did almost nothing to disguise the shape of the incredibly powerful muscles at work just beneath its flesh. Armed with powerful jaws, more than enough teeth, and long, curved claws, the beast stood at a height of 13 feet, dwarfing the canines around it. It was clearly feline in nature, bearing the distinctive head of a male lion, but even more telling of its true origin were the many metal spines that littered its body, jutting out at many different joints. Tossing its maned head backwards and letting loose a horrible, trumpeting roar, Jacob easily recognized the monster. “It's a Manticore,” he growled. Had they all been normal human beings, or even normal wolves, the 3 of them would surely be doomed, for each of the metallic spines was known to inflict an illness of such strength that it could strike men dead within minutes of slightest of cuts. But as lycans, they were immune to any such sicknesses. Filling with characteristic territorial rage at the feline beast, Jacob's eyes narrowed as he stood to his full height. “No running. Lets take it.” Teeth growing within his mouth at a rapid pace, bones snapping and fitting into new shapes, muscles growing or contracting, Jacob let loose a mournful scream that seemed to draw the full attention of the Manticore to him. Ignoring Gabe and Shaleen completely, it quickly stomped towards Jacob, raising a clawed hand to rend the stationary werewolf asunder-and was met with a terrific blast of lycanthropic energy as Jacob shifted, knocking the Manticore many yards backwards and into the clutches of some trees. In Jacob's place now stood a humanoid wolf, its clothes now in tatters and shreds on the ground. Covered in incredibly dark black fur, the werewolf's violet colored eyes were clearly those of their Alpha. Walking across the clearing on clawed pads, Jacob stood between Shaleen and Gabe as the Manticore struggled out of the trees, its fur still burned and smoking in several spots. Now it was much more angry. |

Shaleen being a combination of ignorant of the creature's abilities, overly hyper, and Irish; she was pretty pissed at the thing for charging her alpha. She didn't have a pack till Jacob offered her the family she now had and she'd damn if some miffed kitty was going to screw that up for her. So she charged it while it was down and lunged for throat ripping with her claws. Just as she bit down however she was intimately introduced to the painful spikes embedded in the things skin she yelped in pain and the manticore kicked her clear across the clearing where she skidded and thumped into a tree. She heaved herself to her feet feeling the burn of the peices still stuck in her hide. She limped back and stood by Jacob much chagrinned and very wary of the large creature. |

Jacob was worried for a moment, but less so when Shaleen managed to limp back to them. Lycans being lycans, they tended to heal up just fine so long as they survived the initial injuries. Making of the somewhat human digits that the anthro form provided him with, Jacob motioned to Gabe, clearly pointing out the Manticore's legs. Moving almost as one, the two werewolves exploded forward in an incredible burst of speed, slamming into the manticore and digging teeth and claws into its legs. The fur and hide of the beast were incredibly strong, but did less to shield it from slashing claws than it did from the heat of Jacob's energy blast. Slicing into the flesh with nigh indestructible claws, the first drops of blood hit Jacob's tongue sending an immediate rush of power surging through his body as his unique powers awoke. Roaring in rage and pain, the Manticore made to slash at the prone werewolves with its own claws, intending to flay the skin from their backs. |

Now that it was distracted Shaleen went for the throat digging her claws into the flesh around it. Blood poured into her mouth thick hot and delicious. She buried her fangs deeper but she couldn't maintain her grip and was shook off in a shower of blood. She snarled clumsily dodge the beasts needle studded arm. She darted to the side since its attention was on the males her barreled into the side hope to pitch sideways giving the advantage. She barreled down on it like a mini frieght train heaving every she had into slamming to the one point on its side that had few spines. With the manticore being off balance to began with fighting the wolves underneath it lost its balance and hit the ground with a resounding crash. |

Hitting the ground with a sickening thud, the Manticore's considerable weight created a rush of flying leaves and dirt. Small wings flapping furiously, it tried to regain its footing, only to have its legs dragged out from under it by the wretched wolves at its feet. Trumpeting with a deafening screech that caused its bloodied throat to bubble and spew with blood, the Manticore grabbed Jacob and lifted him, preparing to yank him closer to meet its gnashing teeth. Instead, Jacob, still fueled by blood rage, lowered his head and began to shred into the Manticore's wrist, quickly reaching and gnawing into the bone itself, breaking it with a gruesome crack. Needless to say, the manticore dropped Jacob. |

Shaleen took up Jacob's place next to Gabe in tearing at it's feet. As it lasy on side she gnawed through tissue and bone alike till the damn thing came off. She darted in and gnawed on the fourth one until all it's tedons snapped like frayed bunjee cords. The manticore didn't have a leg to stand they'd seen to that. She walked over to Jacob panted and bleeding. She was waiting on orders. |

Seemingly ignoring the wounded and screeching Manticore for a moment, Jacob looked back and forth between his two wolves, making sure that both of them were still intact. While Shaleen was injured, it was nothing that she wouldn't be able to recover from. Given a day or so of healing, she wouldn't even have a scar. Eyes narrowing, Jacob walked closer to the Manticore, lips curling back to reveal rows of sharp teeth and fangs. Lunging forward, his clawed hands knocked the Manticore's still dangerous head backwards as he leaned in under the things throat and began to bite and rip at the flesh, seeking the spinal cord beneath all that skin and muscle. Incredibly powerful jaws gnashing and rending, his teeth finally locked around bone. Gnawing harshly, he could feel the comparatively weak bones snapping and breaking before he moment he yanked back with all his considerable might, ripping out a large chunk of spine and leaving the manticore quite dead. Spitting it out onto the ground, face completely covered in blood, Jacob cast his head to the sky and let loose a thundering howl of triumph. Gabe, raising his head as well, joined in. |

Shaleen listened a moment to the lower octaves of the males as it thundered out across the forest. She slid up the scale and harmonized with them her voice higher pitched and sweet like a bell. She waited till the corus was over before shifting back cursing to high heaven. The large spines had snapped off in her skin. She screamed as one by one she ripped the eight sharp burning things from her side. She felt very young even though she'd been a werewolf for seven years now she had a lot to learn about working with a group of wolves. Plus it was different with her old pack of regular wolves which she still visited where Ray kept them safe. With them she'd been alpha. "Sorry. I wasn't thinking rushing in like that." she mumbled trying hard not to move. She stared at the wounds and the tortured skin they impaled. She recalled every scar. Especially the thick pink burns around her wrists. Chaining herself in the basement with silver every full moon was hell but her parents were safe. She wondered what they would think of Jacob. It made her smile little. "Well at these ones won't scar. Rhys and Aiden have done their fair share of roughing me up." she muttered to herself. |
