Gentle rays of dying sunlight filtered past Mt. Fuji as the airport continued operations on its normal 24/7 schedule. In the back of the hangar area, where the private business jets were kept, a Bombadier Global 5000 was rolling out of its hangar in preparation for departure. Rikuide, dressed in his typical blue business suit, stepped out of the chartered limo nearby as his twin brother, Sunake, soon followed out of the vehicle.

"So tell me again, how did you get involved with the European Union?" Sunake asked, dusting off his hakama.
"Quite simple, politics," Rikuide commented. "I got involved a little bit ago and actually hold a seat in parliament. With any luck, that'll help propel me to where I need to go." The two men took a minute to watch the crew refueling and checking Rikuide's business jet before Sunake said, "Well, I'm gonna miss you here, feel like its been hardly any time at all. But duty calls eh?"
"Yeah, it does," Rikuide replied, pulling his long lost brother into a hug.
"Be safe," Sunake whispered.
"Always, I seem to have a little more than just luck on my side."

"Oh that reminds me," Sunake suddenly said, breaking off the hug, "I have a little departing gift for you." He went to the trunk of the limo and pulled out a long, slender package wrapped messily with some old newspaper.
"Ah the simple things," Rikuide mused as he accepted the gift, "What is it? Feels like some kind of hardwood. Maybe a handcarved staff?"
"Open it," Sunake goaded, smiling. Rikuide did, and what was inside struck him speachless.
"Buh... How? How did you get this?" he stuttered. In his hands was indeed a hardwood staff, wrapped with cloth all along the length of the handle. It was topped by a long protrusion of wood that widened out at the head.
"The staff of..." Rikuide choked reverently.
"Thrane," Sunake finished, beaming. "I thought you could make better use of it than I could."
"Where did you find it?"
"Remember that archaological dig you drug me to? You were about a hundred yards short of where you should have dug. I would know, I ended up wandering around in those godforsaken catacombs with a freaking spirit. Still, all's well that ends well as your British saying goes."

"Thank you Sunake," Rikuide continued, hugging him even tighter, "I'm sure I'll make good use of this."
"Aw get on with ya, you're gonna wrinkle your suit," Sunake muttered.
"Goodbye brother, I'm sure we'll meet again when this political climate has shifted." With that, Rikuide turned around to board his Bombadier. Sunake watched the plane until it got out of sight to take off. Finally, he got back in the limo to go back home, leaving that strip of the airport empty once again.
