Gaia was told of a Library in the Supernatural housings and grew very interested as to what knowledge it held. As she entered, she examined the room with great curiousity, but with a blank expression. It wasn't in her nature to be emotion-filled in her face. She walked through the aisles of books and skimmed through each title. Many caught her eye, but she kept looking around, memorizing the shelves that the books she liked are.

She finally stopped, after what seemed forever to a shelf that held books of Fact versus Myth. She took one of the many books out of the shelf and carried it to a Library table, sitting down and reading. She stopped before she did to fix her skirt, which always annoyed the piss out of her.

As she read, the facts and myths she read were caculated in her head as if she knew which was which. Silently, as she flipped through each page, she muttered either "Myth." Or "Fact.". It was a simple caculationas to if it could happen with the circumstances named, or if it would never happen.

The library was a place that Elizabeth loved a whole lot. After all, she grew up in love with books and the worlds that they brought with them. Fact or fiction, they all held a special place in her heart. Walking into the library was wonderful every single time. The smell of books was just so tantalizing and fun. It’s why she loved going into book stores.

But for now, she wandered the shelves of books in search of anything to read. Anything at all. There were plenty of books with special properties that she’d stay away from only because they made her nervous. What if it tried to eat her? Come on, she’d seen Harry Potter and didn’t want to be bitten or given a paper cut.

“Hmmm…what am I in the mood for,” She asked herself with a finger to her chin in thought. Liz bent down to read some of the titles on the lowest shelf and hummed to herself. “Lateral thinking puzzles? That sounds awesome.” With that, she stretched herself and ventured out of the shelves to find a table.

Now usually, Liz would sit off to herself while reading a book she just picked up. It made it easier to concentrate and prevented her from getting irritated by others. But since her book was merely a fun book filled with puzzles, she didn’t mind sitting at an already taken table. Besides, puzzles were better when done in a group. Before slowly making her way towards Gaia’s table, she opened her book and started to read a puzzle to herself.

“Hey, do you mind if I sat with you?” The half Japanese half Caucasian girl didn’t really wait for an answer before plopping herself down into a chair across from Gaia.

“I love lateral thinking puzzles. They think of the weirdest stuff. Oh,here’s one! A man walks into a bar, and asks the bartender for a drink of water. The bartender pulls out a gun, points it at the man, and cocks it. The man thanks him and leaves. What happened?” Liz glanced back up at Gaia with a grin on her face. “You can ask yes and no questions in order to find the answer! Ok?”

Gaia looked up at the girl with slight annoyance as she sat down without waiting for an answer. Her black eyes bore into the girl's eyes as she glanced up at Gaia. She then closed her eyes and continued to read her book. She didn't appreciate her being around, but might as well play her little game.

After a couple of silent and awkward moments, Gaia finally replied. Her voice was small, like a child's, but had a power to it like a mature adult. "Did the man have hiccups? If the man had hiccups, the only cure he would think of would be a glass of water. But then if the Bartender can randomly pull out a gun, it would be a sign of fear. If the man had hiccups, he would instantly be frightened and lose his hiccups, thus allowing him a chance to say 'Thank you' and leaving. Thus, he had hiccups and the bartender scared him and he left without needing the water."

Gaia hated mind games. She then continued to read her book and mutter the words, "Myth" and "Fact" all over again as if she didn't stop to answer.

There were few places Alastor felt safe in this world, and the library wasn't one of them. Even with all the people there, even with all the cover, you just don't know who'll be around the next corner. Even the notice on the door saying weapons were strictly prohibited wouldn't stop a member of the 144th, or a really determined gunman.

But hey, at least he could read up on... meh, anything. He was perusing ancient civilizations when he overheard a girl posing a lateral thinking problem. He enjoyed those too, but the other girl got the answer faster than he did. Ah well, at least he could try to make a conversation, so he stepped around the bookshelf to the two girls.

"Hey, heard that puzzle. Name's Alastor, and I have one for you. Why is it better to have round manhole covers than square ones?" The answer was simple geometry really, but it could really throw someone for a ringer.

She wasn't use to the school, that's all. The legendary man-magnet Akane hasn't been so legendary after all, as her flirting didn't exactly work with the guys in this school. No problem, just a small change to her planning, nothing to worry about. She decided to start off small, looking for some cute nerds in the library, they usually are the easiest to attract and play with. She remembered how she slaughtered her old school's library and science lab, jumping from one guy to the next, taking their fat wallets with her.

As Akane was skulking around the library, hoping her cute helpless look would catch guys like flies to a light bulb. It didn't. She knew that like before, she had to make the initiative, the opening move. As she walked past shelf to shelf, Akane saw Alastor. "Easy prey." she thought as she began to walk up to him. Akane stood behind him and lightly tapped his shoulder, and with her top grade acting skills, she put on her innocent and cute look. "Oh...I'm sorry...I'm new here and...I don't know where I can find some romance novels..." she said with a soft tone, blushing slightly.

Gaia heard more voices. She sighed in aggrivation as she looked at the man and the new girl. Would she ever get peace? She continued to read her book, her temple twitching in anger as she tried to remain on the subect of her book. She didn't reply back to the man nor did she listen to anything, but tried to ignore them.

She then stopped reading and stood up, going to the same shelf to get anohter fact versus myth book. It was bigger than the last, so it would give her more time. She went back to her seat and sat down, reading it.

One story Gaia found interesting was if Dragon's ever existed. The study of dragons was a large business. However, many questions were proven wrong about them. She called it Myth, but kept in mind how they COULD have been existing.

Alastor's first reaction was to turn around and open up a can of whoopass on the interloper, but he held himself back. He simply turned around and assessed the girl that had tapped his shoulder.
"Light romance novels," Aliyana commented in his head. "Dewy Decimal System, library layout, two rows down, middle of the rack," she finished.

"Just two rows down ma'm," Alastor echoed, although nobody else would ever hear Aliyana, pointing in the direction. Of course that was how he operated, polite, professional, but he was working out a way to kill everyone he met, if he had to.

"Yep that's right!" Liz exclaimed as Gaia answered her correctly. She was rather quick too, Elizabeth thought to herself as she searched for a new puzzle. Unfortunately, the girl didn't seem to take interest in playing along with Liz. Awwww, Poor Liz.

"Anyway, my name is Elizabeth...but it loooooks like I'm kinda..." She trailed off as she heard Gaia murmuring the answer to each page, "...like I'm kinda interrupting ya." Her dark brown eyes glanced up as soon as she heard Alastor.

"Oh hi, guy-I-don't-know!" Liz giggled and listened carefully to his own little puzzle, "Hmmm....gee, I dunno...maybe because..." But before she could answer, his attention was drawn away by a rather adorable girl who seemed a little helpless and lost. Quickly, Alastor directed her to the right area but Liz didn't want to miss the opportunity of having more company. Especially with a lateral thinking book at hand.

"Hey!" She beckoned to Akane, "Why don't you stay with us for a while. We're just getting to know each other! I'm Elizabeth." She held out two hands: One for Alastor and one for Akane. Smiling big and gleefully, she added, "It's nice to meet new people."

...that's...it? Akane said in her head with great disappointment. Oh no! Not even the nerds are falling for me! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!? no, no, I must get this guy! She thought to herself before resuming her act. Akane giggled cutely putting her hand on his arm gently, as physical contact always went a long way in getting a guy. "It seems like you're very familiar with the romance section...would you mind taking me there?"

Then suddenly Liz, who Akane completely ignored, came up and greeted Akane. She almost jumped back in shock, but she knew she had to still act cute in front of Alastor. Damnit I can't bitch her out in front of this guy. Akane, in her adorable cute state, held onto Liz's hand and shook it, hoping she wasn't a lesbian. It would be the greatest insult to Akane the self proclaimed guy magnet that the first person that falls for her cuteness in this school was not a guy, but instead a girl. "Hi Liz! Well I guess I can stay for a while, I'm Akane!" She giggled afterwards, "Yeah! It is nice meeting new people!" It was nice meeting new people, as long as they were rich and attractive.

Akane's grip on Alastor's arm tightened as she looked up to him requesting once more for him to lead her to the section, "Maybe after my cute guide can help me find a novel first, then we can discuss our books together! Right senpai?" She was using her puppy eyes now, her big light sapphire blue eyes looking up at Alastor.

Gaia's eye twitched as she even thought about being around more people. She dug her head more into her book as the two appeared. She even winced at the girl's voice. She gritted her teeth under her book as she kept her cool, answering the pages she flipped through. Angry shivers ran through her spine as she tried not to leave and be rude.

She then said, "Gaia."

After that, she remained silent. She didn't even answer the questions in her book. She just read them and answered them in her head, not wanting to speak anymore than she already had.

A book closed suddenly from off to the side. The sound seemed to be a bit louder then the norm, but not o loud to echo through the hall. Standing by the window holding a hardbound book was Engi Hibiki. His jacket was lying on a nearby chair. "Please keep the ruckus to a minimum. There are people trying to read silently in here." He said before glancing to Gaia's general direction.

The faint sound of a copier could be heard in the background. The shuffling of a chair everynow and then. Soft footsteps as people gingerly walk though the aisles.

Hibiki turned back to the shelf and placed the book back, taking the next book an opening it up. IT was one on the History of Japanese Economics.

"Umm..." Alastor commented as the girl asked him to accompany her to the romance section. He wasn't one for that lovey-dovey shit; the last girl he dated had originally been sent to kill him! Anyway, he could turn her down, then again he could escort her to the romance section just to humor her.

"Also, nice to meet you Liz," Alastor replied to the first girl, shaking her other hand. "And I think I will accompany you miss, Akane was it? It can get kinda confusing in this library," he continued, locking his arm around hers, firmly indicating he was in control, and giving her an unconvincing smile and wink. What? He wasn't an actor, but he sure as hell wasn't about to make her think he wasn't interested and thus try harder, girls were annoying like that. Anyway, he walked with her over to the fiction section, and then to the selection of romance novels the library had. "So who's your favorite author?" he asked, faking interest.

Hells yeah, now we're talking. Akane thought when Alastor locked her arm around hers. "Yeah...my name's Akane...what's yours senpai?" She calls every boy she meets senpai, first if they were into it, some guys like how empowering and powerful the title senpai makes them feel. Secondly, Akane was atleast a foot shorter than almost every guy she met, making her look like a little girl, therefore senpai wasn't too far fetched of a title. She noticed how weird the wink on his face was but she didn't think much of it. He is a nerd, right? She thought, explaining his social awkwardness.

Akane leaned her head onto his shoulder for a bit as they walked, hoping that would make him fall for her, even though she thought he already was beginning to. She paid almost no attention to where they were walking, in fact she didn't care if they were at the fiction section, she just wanted his attention. When he asked her who her favorite author was, she ran her finger around the book's spines before finally picking one, "This author's my favorite..." she said, taking it and reading the back while still holding tightly onto Alastor's arm. "It makes me feel a lot better when I'm lonely..."

Gaia looked over as Hibiki. She then smiled at him, mouthing a 'Thank you' To him. She then stood and replaced the book. This time, however, she stopped and went to another aisle. She read the titles and soon took out one specific book. It was of Japanese literature.

She then walked over to the table Hibiki was in and smiled. "Hello, Engi-Senpai." She said. "Do you mind if I sit with you?" She asked, still standing as she fingered her book lightly.

There was no one else at his table. He then placed his hand on her head and rubbed lightly, messing her hair up a bit. "Of course." He closed his book and looked to her. She definitly looked better in a kimono. He moved his notepad to him and jotted down a note, sliding it to her.

Note

Have plans this weekend?

She sat down with a smile, fixing her hair. She also fixed her over-large sleeves and sat down next to him before he made the note. She then saw the note and took it, reading it.

Gaia then instantly blushed and looked at him. She then took out a random pen and wrote on it and passed it back, opening it, still blushing. She looked at her gold pen and sighed, seeing it was running out of ink.

Note

Have plans this weekend?

No, actually. Why?

Family is having a get together at the house. You're invited.
hibiki noted her blushing and looked back to the note. He then noticed her looking to the pen. He then opened the note and wrote a note before sliding it back to her.

This weekend his family was having their annual get together with all thier clients and friends of the family. Since this was the first time he had real friends, this would be the first time people his won age was at these get togethers.

The party thrown was the one day out of the year the family actually lost money.

She took the note and read it.

She read it again.

And again.

And AGAIN.

Her eyes widened at each time she confirmed her reading. A get together with a rich family????

She lightly gulped in anxiousness, but then looked to him with a small embarressed blush and nodded in reply, silently saying 'I'll go', before reading her book. She tried to concentrate like she always did, but something was wrong. She didn't feel strong enough to be emotionless as she used to be.

Seeing her reaction and her silent yes. He took the note back and wrote on it again. But a thought then occured to him. She was going to need to know some more for the get together.

Taking out his notepad, he began writing down information for her. This year his father was having everyone attending dress in the classical garb of their country. There was also going to be all sorts of classical entrees.

When he was done with the note he slid it back to her. As he stood up he simply rubbed her hair again and placed the book back on the shelf.

Note:

I'll send a limo for you Sunday at 1300 ((1 pm by american clocks)). The other guest will start arriving at one but I have to greet everyone so I would like you to come early to meet my parents. The dress isn't formal. its a classical affair so any kimono you like will be fine. The party ends at 0100.

She read the note and began to plan out which kimono she had that was appropriate. '1 o' clock, eh? I'm sure I can manage. Grandma won't find out since I got my own Dorm.' Gaia began to think. She then felt his hand on her hair again. She accidently let out a small 'mewl', but then shot her eyes open and covered her mouth. 'That... was new... What Enma's name was that?...'

Hibiki smiled hearing the mewl and looked back to her before walking down the aisle heading back to the reference section. As he turned his head back to look forward, it was almsot like a silent follow me.

Gaia looked over, the blush still remained on her face, and noticed the motion. She then placed her book down and stood up, pushing her chair in and leaving her book on the table as she began to follow him, as asked. She fixed her damnable sleeves before catching up to him.
