((OOC: I'm kinda glossing over the walk, feel free to add your own whatevers in here :P ))

"That sounds good to me, kinda curious what the food is like around here."

Ben nodded with a friendly smile across his face and shoved his hands in his pockets and looked around for possible exits. He'd entered from a door he already couldn't remember and now he was at a loss for where to begin this search when he spied a neon sign with the priceless words of "EXIT" emblazoned across it, except it was in Japanese - however, it still heald the same meaning for a hungry boy: exit meant beginning of the journey to find food. And food was a driving factor in any growing boys' life.

"Exit's that way," he said pointing in the rather obvious direction, and began a lazy pace that took them out of the dormitory and out onto the green blanket that coprised the courtyard and a sudden burst of life of students and activity. "Well I guess this is where everything happens," he said with a clueless look at Kuvoc; he too had noticed the relative lifelessness of the dorms.

Almost instantly Ben caught the tale tell aroma of food; generic, but with an "Mmmm!" and a nod to his new partner in crime as to the direction of a building that seemed to be producing said aromas they were off! "I believe we have found where the food happens," he said with an egar smile on his face. Food was a cornerstone in Ben's life; it was something he always needed. He really was a bottomless pit and would and could consume vast amounts of food at regular intervals, and already he was salivating in his own mind at the thought of a salad, some soup, a sandwich, some kind of fruit, maybe something else, and if they had pizza throw in a slice of that too...

And with that, his stomach made a very loud, and audiable sound of consent...

Kuvoc fell into step behind Ben. Judging from the boys hungry expression, he had no doubt that food would be at the end of this path, wherever it led. Nodding when the exit was discovered he continued the pace out of the building...and took a deep breath of fresh air as they stepped outside. While holding nothing against the buildings themselves, Kuvoc found that there was no better sensation the the fresh air and grass of the outdoors. He gave a quick, contented sigh as he looked around, a bit of shock setting in at the presence of all the other people and activity.

"Well I guess this is where everything happens"

Kuvoc nodded thoughtfully, "No kidding. For some reason, I expected everything to be as quiet as the dorms. I guess it makes sense, it is rather nice outside." He took a deep breath and let his mind wander for a moment, concentrating on the feeling of the life all around him. For some reason, it made him glad that there was so much happening. He had lived enough dullness and monotony, he was ready for a bit of excitement. Kuvoc blinked a few times as a voice pulled him back from his daydream.

"I believe we have found where the food happens"

His mind suddenly returning to its urgent business he grinned and nodded, stepping up the pace a little. "I hope they have pizza. Ever since I saw a poster at the airport for it, I can't seem to get it out of my head." His stomach grumbled again. He was quickly beginning to realize how hungry he was. He was lucky enough to remember to open the door before rushing inside the cafeteria.

Ben laughed good naturedly, food was always on his mind - no matter the circumstances so he could understand the others' plight. The cafeteria was not crowded, it wasn't quite peak meal times. This would be good as the lines would be short, but the food might not be as fresh. Oh well - food at this point just needed to be edible.

"Meet you over there?" Ben gestured at an expanse of small tables, mostly vacant and waited for an acknowledgement from Kuvoc before snatching two trays and heading off to begin filling them up.

As a person of Ben's peculiar physical needs, it is important to know that normally Ben eats regular, full meals ever two to three hours to maintain his body in functional order; this is a ritual he sticks with adamently, but his treck across the continents had left him a bit lacking as far as food was concerned and he was more than ready to make up for lost time!

Soon enough Ben had both trays loaded with an assortment of foods, he'd cheated a bit and included a few not as healthy options. Soon enough he would have classes that would focus on building and improving his strength and he justified these choices by that knowledge. Galncing around he didn't see Kuvoc yet so he got a spot at an vacant table and arranged both trays to his liking before charging into the pile of food infront of him with enthusiasm.

The smell of food was one of the most welcoming things that Kuvoc had ever experienced.

"Meet you over there?"

He nodded at Ben and went searching through the rather large cafeteria, looking for some pizza. Looking around to see how other people were handling it, he noticed that most people took trays to pile their stuff one, prompting him to grab one as well. As he wandered he passed the salad bar and pure habit forced him to stop and toss himself together some vegetables. As he was grabbing a hard-boiled egg, he caught a whiff of something that smelled like decidedly like grease with some pepperoni stuck in it. Quickly following the scent, Kuvoc was relieved to find a couple slices of pizza remaining and quickly snatched them up. Grabbing a quick glass of apple juice on his way out, he checked out with the lunch lady and went out to the tables, wandering aimlessly for a bit before spotting Ben. With a nod he headed over and sat down. "Pizza...so glad..." His words were cut off as he noticed the heaping piles of food that were in the process of being demolished. "Man, you weren't kidding when you said you were hungry." Kuvoc chuckled and bit into a slice of pizza, his eyes closing and face lighting up with delight as he savored the unwholesome goodness.

"Pizza...so glad...Man, you weren't kidding when you said you were hungry."

Grinning, Ben didn't pause in devouring what was in his hands at the moment. He was acustomed to the stares and whatnot by now. "I have to eat like this," he said using the napkin almost as an after thought. He was wearing a white shirt afterall. "Something about my body processing stuff faster than most peoples, or like needing more fuel - whatever - I eat about every two or three hours and airplane food just did not cut it. The flight attendents got so irritated at me asking for more peanuts!"

Laughing he hefted another plate full of something that looked like noodles, sauce and meat. Ben was about halfway through what he'd gotten and was certainlly going to polish off what he'd gathered.

"I'll make sure to leave some for you next time," he said solomly, which lasted for a moment before he grinned again and spooned a bite into his salivating mouth.

A few mometns later, the edge of his hunger saited he was able to sit there more calmly eating, unlike before which had been a little nuts with how fast he would just shove food in. "So Kuvoc - what brings you here?" He said with a flourish of his fork before he licked it clean.

After a few more disbelieving moments, Kuvoc shook his head slightly and returned to taking a few bites from his pizza, feeling foolish for staring. As he listened to Ben's explanation, he nodded slowly, a bit of understanding dawning as he switched to some salad.

"I'll make sure to leave some for you next time"

He finished chewing before grinning and nodding in the direction of the buffet style food layout. "Something tells me it is a good thing the school is prepared with such massive amounts of food." His hunger already starting to settle as he finished his second slice of pizza, Kuvoc settled back in his chair, idling pushing an olive around his plate and taking a bite of salad every once in a while.

"So Kuvoc - what brings you here?"

Kuvoc looked up, chewing on his bottom lip as he tried to think of a way to explain. He hadn't really ever had to before, vocalizing his situation seemed to make the entire thing a little difficult to explain. Deciding it was best to simply start with just a demonstration, Kuvoc began to hum. It was nothing overly complicated, but its simplicity helped to keep the tune moderately pleasant as opposed to any other musical attempt he could have tried. After a few moments of humming, two more hums joined in with his, their sound a bit less throaty and more...chiming. Around the points where the hums seemed to be coming from, two separate lights started to form, one a dusky yellow that was darting about sharply, and the other a deep green that was gracefully flowing about itself. Kuvoc smiled and stopped humming, resulting in the accompanying hums ceasing a few moments after and the lights slowly fading away. "Their names are Terri and Vitti. The yellow one is Terri, the green Vitti. They're always around, really, but only decide to glow on the rare occasion, or when I hum. They like the humming. They're spirits of nature...I think. I don't know exactly what they are, but I know they can help me act with nature. It's awkward to try and explain, but I was sent here when my Mum found out about them. I think she was afraid really, though she claims she wasn't. Anyway, that's why I'm here, to keep em away from her." Kuvoc chuckles a bit and takes another bite of salad.

Ben watched the demonstration with large eyes. He wasn't really alarmed by it as much as he was impressed. Shoving a bite of a brownie in his mouth he nodded; he cold understand people being affraid of him.

"Yeah, my mum and da weren't too keen on how strong I was when I was a kid, it really scared them for a bit. See, I'm adopted, so they had no way of knowing I'd be like I be, and well, it was a lot for them. They were a bit older than normal parents were at my age and I really wasn't what they'd had in mind," shoving the remainder of the brownie in his mouth he realized belatedly he could not talk and chew.

Snagging the last full cup on his tray he downed the brownie and drink together before finishing, "But they loved me and they did the best they could for me," he finished solomly. He missed his mother; things weren't the same without her around.

"Da sent me here," he started up again a bit more upbeat, "because, well, now that mum's dead he changed jobs and it just didn't make sense to hire someone to stay with me at a place he'd only rent. So he sent me here to maybe give me something more normal and get away from the idea of mum dying."
It wasn't so hard to talk about anymore; he was grateful for that.

Kuvoc listened and nodded, finishing off the rest of his food and washing it down with his apple juice. He felt the urge to say something respectful and comforting as he listened about Ben's loss, the pain the boy felt clearly visible. He kept his mouth shut, however, letting Ben finish his story. As he finishes Kuvoc nods and flashes a supportive smile. "It sounds like you have a great family." Not sure what else to say, Kuvoc takes another long drink of his juice. After a few moments of contemplation he puts his cup back down and give an emphatic nod. "Ya know, I think this school is gonna be good for the both of us."

"It sounds like you have a great family."

Ben was accustomed to people being a little uncomfortable when he talked about his family, but it was never something that really registered as a taboo subject. Chalk it up to being young. However, he wasn't offended by the lack of conversation on the subject. Nodding, he tossed some grapes into his mouth, relishing in the tart sweetness of the fruit, "Yeah - they were great."

"Ya know, I think this school is gonna be good for the both of us."

Grinning in response he shoved another fist full of grapes into his mouth, some of the juice dribbling down the corner of his mouth, "Aye - I really hope it does. I mean, I don't expect to become superman or anything, but it would be nice to be someplace where you aren't abnormal - where you don't stick out and where people don't point you out of a crowd or anything. I figure here," he said leaning back in his chair and interlacing his fingers behind his head as he gazed up at the ceiling, "well here I gifure I'm just another face in the crowd which I haven't been for a while." A lazy, boyish smile spread across his long face, "I'm looking forward to it."

"Well here I gifure I'm just another face in the crowd which I haven't been for a while. I'm looking forward to it."

Kuvoc rubs his chin thoughtfully, a bit of emerging stubble prickling his fingers. He viewed the situation a bit differently. He had never been pointed out or viewed differently because there had never really been anyone to do the pointing. Homeschooling had destroyed most chance for interaction, which may have been a good thing considering the discrimination others seem to have experienced. At the same time it left him terribly awkward in social situations, though he didn't let that keep him from enjoying them. By coming here, he was given the chance to grow. Blinking a couple times he brought himself back to reality and grins at the boy sitting across from him, "Honestly, I'm sort of excited to learn more about what I can do. Sometimes the things that make us different are the things that are the most useful. With all that strength, I doubt you'll be suffering from boredom at the least. And no one here will treat you any differently for it." With a quick optimistic hum, he gulps down the rest of the juice, leaning back in his chair and sighing contentedly. "All sorts of opportunities to grow...and if nothing else have some fun."

Ben grinned back at his new partner in crime, looking a little goofy what with his general unkept appearance. Fun was something the last year had been lacking in spades. "I agree," he said as he sat forward, setting his elbows on the table.

"Huh-how are the rooms here? I haven't even seen my room yet," he chuckled. "Should I be ready for the worst or will I be plesantly surprised?"

If the food was any gauge to guess by, he figured the room would be great. There had been the mention of a roomate but nothing more so Ben hadn't worried about that little factor in his new life. For now he had an almost full belly and a friendly face.

Kuvoc rubbed his chin once again, thinking back to his room. "Well, the rooms themselves are pretty nice, at least in my opinion. They're nicely furnished and fairly spacious, especially compared to what I hear dorm rooms are typically like. Then again, I haven't met my roommate yet, so it might get a bit smaller. I guess really, it depends what you make of it. It is certainly nice, but a little bland for my tastes. I wish I had brought more to actually decorate it or make it feel like mine in some way. I think half of the whole thing depends on the roommate." He frowns for a moment before shrugging and giving a low chuckle. "The beds are comfortable though, so if the worst comes to worst, you can at least sleep through it all well enough."

((OOC: I stared t this for a long time - really sucked this one up....))

The roomate - Ben was only slightly concerned about that factor to his new life. He'd grown up as an only child so that was something that had him a little apprehensive about the whole situation really. But that was not here nor now.

"Yeah, unless your roomate snores!"

Laughing at himself as only an adolescent boy can Ben started glancing around at the other people in the caffeteria, "So, what are the people like? Or have you met anyone else here besides me?"

Kuvoc pauses for a moment, tilting his head slightly as he tries to gather his thoughts. "Actually, I haven't had a chance to meet anyone else. Seeing you at the fish tank was the first time since I've gotten here that I actually was able to discover another student. I don't know, I'm not the best in social situations, I was probably just looking in all the wrong places. I might go walking about later or something and see if I can't meet some others. You can come too if you're interested at all, though I might be a bit embarrassing to be around." He laughs a little nervously, a bit of the awkwardness returning as he realizes that he is still, for the most part, surrounded by strangers. He brightens a little as he realizes that at least he has one friend, which made the entire situation a little easier.

"You can come too if you're interested at all, though I might be a bit embarrassing to be around."

Ben was baffled. The guy didn't seem to ooze green gunk or smell like a port-o-potty, what was there to be embarrassed about? So he sat there staring a little blankly at the other boy, his head tilted slightly to one side - something like how a dog might look at it's owner when it is being particularly silly. Serriously, Ben didn't really get where the statement had come from - but there were still edible things left on his tray.

"Um, sure man - I should probably go figure out where my room is but yeah - hit me up whenever. It's not like have anything going on," he added with a slight chuckle.

Picking up his fork again he began devouring a piece of rather normalish looking cake - except the piece was very large. Of course to him it was normal and he was just getting to the point where he felt full enough to stop. "Of course - I could understand if eating with me is embarrassing. You should have seen me going to school with a packed lunch - it was rediculous!!! I had like, four lunch bags and usually something else!"

Maybe if he pointed out embarrasing things about himself it would make it all better...at least that was his fourteen year old reasoning!

Kuvoc nodded, his uneasiness disappearing again as he realized he was worrying about nothing. He silently laughed at himself inside his head. Worrying was completely against his nature and it was a bit stupid that he had succumbed to it for no good reason. Dismissing the thoughts, he was suddenly remembered his hard boiled egg and began meticulously peeling it open.

"Of course - I could understand if eating with me is embarrassing. You should have seen me going to school with a packed lunch - it was rediculous!!! I had like, four lunch bags and usually something else!"

He laughed at the mental image and shook his head. "Of course not, nothing to be embarrassed about, anyway. It's a good thing you're so strong, you probably needed it just to carry lunch." Kuvoc gave a good natured grin before taking a big bite of the egg. After a few moments of chewing, he casually brushes his hand off on the side of his pants. "What do you do for fun, anyway?" Sometimes Kuvoc was prone to drifting away with his thoughts, suddenly coming back to the conversation with a completely different question.

Ben grinned and shoved down some more cake as he continued talking, "What do you do for fun, anyway?"

Taking a moment to swallow and take a deep drink of the milk to clear his mouth before speaking he thought about his relatively boring life. "Well," she began with a drawl, "mostly I've been reading and writing. I was too strong to play sports; my parents wanted me to play rugby and soccer. It just wasn't going to happen. I hurt people and I didn't even mean to," he shrugged. Sure he'd played things like touch football, but even then he'd had to be very careful. He had gotten much better as he got older and learned his strength but in the beginning as a young child it had been tough.

"Anyways," he shrugged his shoulders and polished off the cake, "maybe I can here. I like video games and movies and I guess just typical stuff; I'm probably fairly normal as far as this place goes as I understand it."

Kuvoc nodded, having a slight realization that being stronger than others could possibly be a curse at times as well as a blessing.

"Anyways, maybe I can here. I like video games and movies and I guess just typical stuff; I'm probably fairly normal as far as this place goes as I understand it."

He nods once again, chuckling at the thought of a sports match at a place like this school. While he wasn't exactly sure of the type of powers that the various students had, his imagination was able to run with the idea. Fire, monsters, swords, and giant blasts of energy all swarming around a soccer ball striving to simply make its way into a net. His eyes glaze over a bit as they do when he falls into one of his daydreams, his mental game of soccer getting more interesting as a kick with an unbelievable amount of force is leveled at the ball, causing it to simply explode. Kuvoc chuckles again, "I think sports could be fun here. Never played any myself, I was more of a reader like you. Especially mythology, I read as much mythology as I could get my hands on." Kuvoc absent-mindedly takes a few nibbles out of his egg.

(OOC: as this is open I thought Id give my adorable lil psychopath some fun if you dont mind :P)
IC:

To potentially anyone's surprise a hand crawled its way from underneath the table to the top. Naturally it was connected to an arm and a person but it was disturbing to say that someone was under the table the whole time for who knows what reason. The hand darted around as if it was looking for something. The back of the hand turned towards the food and moved over, fingers walking the hand over. It suddenly stopped short, the owner not having enough room to reach. Eventually, giving up in a small frustration, the boy underneath the table slid out on the one named Kuvoc's side. The strawberry blond boy sat firmly into the seat and quickly folded his hands under his chin. His uniform plainly looked disheveled and was poorly modified. He had a crooked grin and looked rather 'off'

"Hallos..." Ingrad waved with his left hand slowly. Blue sparks jumped between his fingers with a slight hum and appearing slightly alarmed he slammed his hand onto the table prompting the sparks and hum to stop. "He as ins I haves beens called an Eric. News to this school ands the rats keep scurryings aways. Err...HUMANS..." Ingrad, who publicly called himself Eric 'corrected' himself. "Ims heres because mys friends keeps shiverings and fallings to the ground and my doctor friend saids this place cans handles me." He looked around the room as if suspicious of something before turning back to the two boys. Evens the mightys Ingrad was starvings for attention.

Grinning, Ben was about to reply with some obscure sounding quote that would have made him seem weird and possibly intelligent but probably crazy. However he was saved from that moment never passing his lips by the sudden appearance of a hand. A hand that was attached to an arm. This hand, arm and other appendages made it's way almost to Kuvok's almost clean tray before all the slack was gone...and then the rest of the person emerged.

Sharing a look with Kuvok, who Ben was quickly warming up to in the sence of a friend, he looked back at this new person as he began speaking, with a very odd and noticible sibbilance...

"Hallos..."

Jumping not at the blue sparks - Ben was ready to accept things like that - but at the other boys violent reaction, Ben looked questioningly at Kuvok. Hoping that maybe he knew this guy...

"He as ins I haves beens called an Eric. News to this school ands the rats keep scurryings aways. Err...HUMANS...Ims heres because mys friends keeps shiverings and fallings to the ground and my doctor friend saids this place cans handles me."

"Oh," Ben managed to choke out. This Eric, he certainlly was a character. "Well, um, hi - Eric - um, I'm Ben," he squirmed inside as he extended his hand across the table cursing etiquiette in the back of his mind. The boy seemed off in a bad sort of way and Ben hoped he would get his hand back...

Kuvoc was still partially in one of his odd daydreams as the hand first emerged onto the scene. This one was a detailed account of what a game of tennis would be like, only the tennis ball was actually a bomb that was ticking downwards towards its imminent destruction. Suddenly a disembodied arm appears out of nowhere, grasping around as if blindly trying to catch the ball. Kuvoc blinks a few times, trying to clear his eyes, temporarily unable to distinguish between reality and his imaginary game of deathtennis. As the rest of the image fades, the disembodied arm is left behind. Except it isn't actually disembodied, as the body it is attached to seemed to practically slither up from underneath the table, appearing right next to Kuvoc. Still unsure if it was just imagination playing tricks on him, he remains silent, blinking a few more times.

"Hallos..."

Kuvoc slowly raises his hand, waving it a bit confusedly. He was about to respond with a greeting when suddenly this new face slammed his hand down onto the table, making Kuvoc jump a bit in surprise. He turned his head and met Ben's questioning look, shrugging slightly.

"He as ins I haves beens called an Eric. News to this school ands the rats keep scurryings aways. Err...HUMANS...Ims heres because mys friends keeps shiverings and fallings to the ground and my doctor friend saids this place cans handles me."

Unsure of really how to respond, he decides to just go with the flow and shrugs again. "Nice to meet you Eric. I'm Kuvoc."

Ingrad stared at Ben's hand intently and then at his own hands. He raised them up and looked between his left hand and his right one. Which was the rights one agains? One such as Ingrad tends to forgets these things. Having decided that the left one was most appropriate he reach over and shook Ben's hand. Then he looked back to Kuvoc and reached out with his right hand, crisscrossing his arms.

"It is this one's pleasures to meets the twos of you. Eric does wishs thats you twos knowns as a Ben and Kuvoc wonts shivers. Deads rats are nots verys funs." Despite his grin his tone of voice was oddly serious. "What preys haves you hunteds? Eric seems unables to haves goods luck huntings here." The odd boy was referring to the cafeteria food but it never occurred to him that his linguistic oddities could lead others to think otherwise.

As the boy started looking between his own hands like they were foreign objects Ben regretted his tendency to shake hands, but before he could retract his appendage it was grasped by Eric’s left hand. Sheepishly Ben shook it and recoiled his hand to his lap where he fidgeted with it a little under the table. He was not sure what to make of this character and glancing at Kuvok he was on similar ground.

"It is this one's pleasures to meets the twos of you. Eric does wishs thats you twos knowns as a Ben and Kuvoc wonts shivers. Deads rats are nots verys funs. What preys haves you hunteds? Eric seems unables to haves goods luck huntings here."

“Uh,” Ben didn’t want to be rude. He didn’t understand a word of what the boy was saying and he was starting to give the overly imaginative boy the creeps. “Well, I haven’t really hunted here – just got here,” glancing down at his now empty trays, “got some good food from the line over there if you’re interested in that,” he thumbed at the afore mentioned serving lines which were quickly disappearing. What was all this shivering and falling and hunting he was talking about? Part of Ben did not want to know…

Kuvoc reaches over slowly, grasping the hand being offered to him and shaking it. His caution turned a bit into curiosity, wondering who exactly this person was.

It too Kuvoc a few moments to actually process the words that were said, as they didn't seem to make any sense. Shiver? It seemed rather warm inside to him, he didn't quite get why Eric was hoping he wasn't shivering. And while he agreed that dead rats probably weren't fun, he didn't see how it necessarily fit in to the conversation. And as far as hunting, Kuvoc wasn't sure if he was talking about animals, or even people. A bit of curiosity switched back over into caution, though Kuvoc was beginning to think that Eric was simply used to another language and was having some trouble.

“Well, I haven’t really hunted here – just got here, got some good food from the line over there if you’re interested in that,”

A bit of understanding dawned over him as he realized that Ben had probably interpreted correctly. Feeling a bit foolish for his silly confusion, Kuvoc simply nodded.

"Yes but it alls tastes bads. And sloppys. The food-rats dont do things rights. Buts this Eric has manageds." Ingrad pulled his hands back to himself and folded them in front of him as if assuming polite sitting posture. He glanced from Ben to Kuvoc and back several times as if he was restraining himself from some sort of impulse. These rats woulds be easys prey for Ingrad! But that what sents this ones aways to stranges place. But its funs! Wells Ingrad shouldnts anyways.

"Yes but it alls tastes bads. And sloppys. The food-rats dont do things rights. Buts this Eric has manageds. Eric has tricks! He cans thinks, moves, and lifts betters and fasters then mosts people! Thens...theres the shiverings...I gets exciteds or angrys and I touchs rats. Then the hums starts and they shivers. Ifs I touchs them too longs or in certains spots they falls down and dont gets ups. Dead-rats are nots funs to plays with, they donts moves. Does you haves tricks toos?"

Rats? Tricks? Ben was getting a very unsettled feeling that through the boys odd speech he understood the meaning of the words and he was not sure he wanted to understand that. Gancing at Kuvok and back at Erick he managed a weak laugh before purposefully playing dumb. Something made him distinctly warry of sharing any kind of personal information with the boy.

"Um, I can wak on my hands, does that count?" Blinking innocently, he looked from Erick to Kuvok, "What about you man? Do you have, like double jointed elbows or something?"

What Kuvok tod Erick was his business but Ben didn't trust the guy off the bat. Maybe he was just weird. He didn't know a lot about the school so far so perhaps it was just him being too cautious ...

Still painfully oblivious to most of the real meaning behind the words, Kuvoc to just follow Ben's lead, since he seemed the understand the conversation a lot more than he did.

"Um, I can wak on my hands, does that count? What about you man? Do you have, like double jointed elbows or something?"

He rubbed his chin, honestly trying to think of some special talent or trick that he could do. He was a good gardener, but that didn't quite seem to count as a trick. He was trying to take up whittling, but so far his attempts had been pretty miserable, so he decided not to mention that either. His eyes lit up as he remembered something he had just learned at the airport bar he had stopped at for glass of water. Dramatically reaching his hands out in front of them he laced them together and stretched cracking his knuckles and preparing himself. Then he grabbed the saltshaker from the table and tapped a little out, carefully spreading the bit of salt on the table into a thin line. With the utmost care he placed the saltshaker right next to the line of salt and slowly tilted it until it was at a forty-five degree angle. Very cautiously and slowly, he took his hands away, leaving the saltshaker balanced precariously on one edge. Kuvoc grinned and solemly nodded before laughing at his own ridiculous actions. "In other words, no, I don't really have any entertaining tricks."

Ingrad was being annoyed. He knew he spoke in an odd manner but usually people were able to get a firm grasp on it. So instead he closed his eyes and raised his right hand. The electrical hum continued and sparks jumped from his fingers. Focusing he spoke again though more slowly, "That is nots what Eric meants. Eric meants like p-power. Eric can makes el-el-electricity and responds fasters and is strongers and fasters." He opened his eyes and the sparks and hum stopped. He calmly laid his hand hand back down. He had slowed down and focused to use speech closer to what the boys would understand.

"His question was merelys a test. This one alreadys heards you twos rats speakings. Eric was unders the table, remembers? Tis okays no passings or failings on this one."

As the boy who called himself Eric spoke, Ben's suspicion that when he said 'rats' he was referring to people was confirmed. So this kid wanted to eat people? Well that was unsettling and at the moment Ben wasn't so sure he wanted to hang around this table any longer.

Glancing nervously at Kuvoc, Ben wondered what he was thinking about this whole situation.... "Um, Eric man," he started slowly, he really didn't want to talk about his power to anyone. In his strict manner code it was rather rude to ask someone personal questions without any context of an introduction. "Are you saying you eat people? Like humans?" He'd thought it, he hadn't really meant to say it, it just sorta came out - and immediately he turned six shades of red.

"That is nots what Eric meants. Eric meants like p-power. Eric can makes el-el-electricity and responds fasters and is strongers and fasters."

A slight realization dawned over Kuvoc. He felt a little foolish, a slight reddening of the cheeks washing over his face. As he looked back, most of the conversation made a little more sense. It wasn't that the language was strange to Eric, his perception of the entire world around him was simply different.

"His question was merelys a test. This one alreadys heards you twos rats speakings. Eric was unders the table, remembers? Tis okays no passings or failings on this one."

Kuvoc suddenly frowned slightly, as his view of the situation seemed to clarify a little more. The conversation hadn't been quite as innocent or random as he initially thought. It was a little...darker. It irked a bit to be tested, but he supposed there was no way around people doing such things. His frown deepened a bit as he considered the new meanings to the words that he was able to understand a bit more clearly. People being hurt by the strange powers of the people around him was a reality he had certainly acknowledged, but had mostly avoided stewing over. Now he was confronted with the issue head on.

"Um, Eric man. Are you saying you eat people? Like humans?"

Kuvoc blinked and looked strangely at the kid sitting next to him. Deciding not to jump to any more hasty conclusions, he kept his face impassive, considering the person in a new light. It wouldn't be right to unfairly judge someone just because they have a different perception of the world. Even if it was a bit...odd. Even so, Kuvoc had trouble keeping himself from imagining Eric gnawing on a human leg. He continued to keep his mouth shut, deciding to learn more before making any comment. He did look over at Ben and give a slight nod though, trying to let him know that he wasn't alone in the bit of confusion and embarrassment it seemed he was experiencing as well.

"Nevers. Funs to bites sometimes as they jumps but no eatings. Eric eats what the rats eats as wells. He donts hurts peoples for funs lests its fightings or if Eric gets O-O-OCD when things ares WRONG." He said with the last word have a clear strong sense of anger which prompted him to look down and scratch the side of his head a second before looking back up.

"Fred the doctor was always nices. He was definatelys a right snake. He helpeds this one calms downs betters when things were wrong." Ingrad stated simply.

Muddling through what the boy had said Ben felt a little bit better, but he still didn't quite trust him.

"Okay, so let me understand," he said slowly and paused. "You don't like the cafeteria food?" Holding up one finger he ran back over the conversation thus far, "You create electricity, which is the sparks?" The last bit he was a little hesitant to say, but he wanted to make sure he was understanding the boy correctly, "And you've hurt people before with the electricity? But you don't eat them? Am I getting this all right?"

Ben wanted to like people, and he would feel much better about the situation if he understood Eric better and right now it was just a little bit difficult to do that. What with Japanese not being his first language and then the boys odd manner of speaking, it was all very difficult for the young boy to grasp hold of.

Brushing a hand through his messy hair he glanced around at the crowd that was thinning out and then absently started tossing his things all on one try to make disposing of it easier later.

Getting used to Eric's weird way of thinking wasn't as difficult as it had initially seemed.

"Fred the doctor was always nices. He was definatelys a right snake. He helpeds this one calms downs betters when things were wrong."

A snake! That is what he was being continuously reminded of. In this school filled with people with all sorts of strange phenomena, it wasn't impossible that someone would have a bit of a reptilian view to the world.

"Okay, so let me understand. You don't like the cafeteria food? You create electricity, which is the sparks? And you've hurt people before with the electricity? But you don't eat them? Am I getting this all right?"

Incredibly grateful that Ben had managed to go back and summarize everything in a way that made a bit more sense, Kuvoc realized he must look foolish, setting there not saying a word. "And is quite strong and fast too, I think. You know, I'm sorry I've had such difficulty understanding you." As he was thinking over everything the boy had done in this new light, he was reminded of the initial action, the hand reaching for the food and the talk of hunting. Grabbing the last bit of food from his plate, a hard boiled egg, he reached over to Eric and held it out. "The eggs aren't bad, if you like em. Hard to ruin hard boiling an egg."

"yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes." Ingrad said responding to every question/statement about him. He looked down at the egg and plucked it with his index finger and his thumb. He raised it over his head as he looked up and dropped it straight into his mouth. There was the sound of crunching as he bit through the shell and he looked upwards as he fiddled with it in his mouth. After a few seconds he spit the shell pieces into his hand and swallowed the edible part of the egg. He layed them on the table and started instantly stacking the shell pieces on top of each other till they formed a neat little pile.

"Thanks you." Ingrad said as he looked back up at Kuvoc with a smile.

Breathing a sigh of releaf, Ben leaned back in his chair much more relaxed, "Whew Eric, you had me worried there for a moment. Sorry - Japanese isn't my first language," he said sheepishly as he crossed his hands behind his head again. He didn't have anymore food left on his try to offer but was glad Kuvoc did.

"So Eric, you got sent here by the doctor, right?"

Glancing up Ben saw the remains of past food wars and found his mind momentarily wandering, "Huh, a guy's gotta have a pretty good arm if he'd going to get something up there.," he mumbled. He figured he could do it, it wasn't that high and food didn't really weigh that much; he was more concerned about possibly hitting someone. He wouldn't want to be hit with random, flying food - even if it was in the search for good aim.

Watching as the boy dropped the egg in his mouth without even peeling the shell first, Kuvoc blinked a few times in surprise. He had never actually tried eating the shell, but he couldn't imagine it tasted very good. As Eric removed the pieces of the shell and started stacking them, Kuvoc noted that he at least seemed to like things orderly, even such trivial things.

"Thanks you."

He smiled and nodded. "No problem." He was glad he at least had done something right. He absent mindedly ran his hand through his hair again, a random habit that he barely noticed any more.

"So Eric, you got sent here by the doctor, right?"

Kuvoc remembered something about Fred being a "right snake" and realized that he must have been doing something to help the boy. More curious at this point than cautious, he waited for the explanation.

"Its nots Eric's firsts language eithers. This one was raiseds in America. Eric justs learns fasters because hes betters. Fred was always nices. He makes sure Eric doesnts go to cage-place. He tolds judge-rat thats this school was betters." Ingrad elaborated. He noticed Ben's gaze trailing away and curious, Ingrad looked up. His eyes went wide when he saw the food stains. His hand shook slightly and he looked back down. His breathing got deeper but for the most part it seemed like he was still able to get a good grip on himself.

Realizing his attention had trailed off Ben sat forward with a slight start and brought his elbows down on the table a little harder than he'd intended causing his tray to bounce and the plates and cutlery to jangle. "OOpse," he set about quickly to ensure nothing would fall, "Sorry about that."

His eyes wandered over the other two boys' faces and caught the look on Eric's face as he rather pointedly looked down. "Eric - you okay man?" Switching to English, he really was concerned. The kid could be bi-polar for all he knew but he didn't seem so omnious now that Ben understood a bit more about him.

Glancing around he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary that would set a person off. Well, the only thing that would cause him to act differently so suddenly was if he was hungry or thirsty; those being the two primary drives in Ben's life. It was worth a shot. Reaching out a hand halfway across the table Ben bent over a bit to get a better look at his face, getting a little more worried.

"Do you need something? Want me to get you some water or another egg?"

Kuvoc began to wonder what it must be like to think like a snake. If he saw everyone else as either other snakes or rats, what was food? And for that matter, what if you saw the entire world not as a snake would, but as a fish. He had to stifle an amused chuckle out how Ben's earlier question from the aquarium had managed to resurface in his mind. Trying to adopt the view of a fish, Kuvoc looked around, trying to imagine that all the air was water, and that all the other people were other fish. A voice seemed to echo through the water.

"Eric - you okay man?"

He frowned and refocused on Eric, noting a bit of shaking in his hands.

"Do you need something? Want me to get you some water or another egg?"

Kuvoc nodded at Ben and stood up, not waiting for an answer. "I'll get some just in case, be right back." Walking over to the buffet area he grabs a cup and fills it with water, stopping by the salad bar and grabbing a couple of eggs quickly. Glancing over at the table, it seemed that Eric was fine, but Kuvoc wasn't really sure. After all, everything he learned about the kid seemed to be odd, he didn't want to take any chances. As he walked back, he placed the items on the table and shrugged. "Don't know if you really need it, but doesn't hurt to have some on hand."

"Eric doesnts likes stains. They ares bads but this one is okays." Ingrad nodded and looked back up. He saw the cup of water, grabbed it and took a big gulp. His hand stopped shaking as he mentally distracted himself. Specifically it was about being coiled up inside a cave all nice and cozy. He set the cup down and resumed his grin.

"This place seems likes it shalls be funs." He commented. It did seem like it would be fun for Ingrad. Well, as long as he didnt freak out but that was bound to happen sooner or later. Ingrad was just going to make sure that it was later.
