The large wooden table looked as though it had been practically mauled by a bibliophile. Books strewn across the top of it in all shapes, sizes, forms, and colours were open over scattered papers and writing utensils. Most of the stacks there were piled high, the books actually from not just the Blue Leaves collection, but also the different libraries across the AHS campus, not to mention part of the owner's private collection. At the center of it all, of course, Atreyu lay with his head down on a piece of parchment, nearly drooling, his hand holding a quill that signified the time in which he had remained in that position to be a long amount, for the ink had welled up in one giant blotch on his paper.

If not for the constant grinding of coffee beans an hissing of espresso machines, Atreyu would have stayed awake...or at least he hoped he would've. The murmuring of people lulled him to sleep, surprisingly, much like the ocean waves he so longed to be on. His black tank-top and beige tunic over it kept him warm, long baggy cargo pants reaching to his heavy boots. About his waist, his weapons were concealed by use of a long trench coat with brass buttons. His flaming red hair blew gently every time a person opened the door.

The young pirate lord has just been doing more research on ancient artifacts when his body decided to remind him that he hadn't slept in two days, so he had slowly given in and passed out on the table with his materials around him.

The door slid easily away from Ally’s gentle touch, the warm air caressing her skin and turning slightly chilly as she passed from the bright spring day into the relative cool, dim interior of one of her favorite places at school so far. Against the wishes of the sign, she was barefoot, her jeans rolled up to mid-calf, and her tank top was layered with a dark blue and a rich green over that. While she had made a small attempt to capture her long hair, still bits and pieces escaped to frame her face, her large, dark brown eyes twinkling merrily. Her hand gripping a strap that was slung across her body was attached to a very unique, ivory guitar that had, in her short time of possessing it, become her constant companion.

Of course at first this rather tall girl did not give notice to much besides approaching the counter and trading some banter with the staff currently on duty. Slowly she had made Blue Leaves a little part of her home here, the tea the icing on her cake. Accepting a large mug that was still too hot to drink, Ally began meandering her way around the shop.

Against her better judgment, she was beginning to like it here; while she still might not agree that she should be here - here she was. Walking through the magazines she would occasionally stop and flip one open and then set it back down aimlessly. And that was how she found him. Bare feet soaking up the coolness of the floor, making a turn around the magazine fixture, she couldn’t help but notice him as she almost bumped into the table out of absentmindedness. Stifling a giggle she looked over the table of books and what he had been writing. Taking pity on him she reached out a hand and brushed it along his arm; you never knew which students around here were most likely to burst into flames or send you through time.

“Hey - wakey, wakey,” she said a little quietly. A few people looked in her direction and at the boy, their looks saying he’d been there awhile. “I don’t think you meant to come here for a nap - did you?”

Atreyu grumbled something about the sea and the next port to call before tossing his hand around the table, groping for something that was probably, in his dreams, what he grunted next, which was the word "rum". He lost the quill from his hand and ran a hand through his tousled red hair before squinting his eyes tightly and then opening them again. At first the dim atmosphere continued his dream, making him believe he was in the belly of his father's great ship, swinging in a hammock there for an afternoon nap, but the woman in front of him, beside him, was definitely not someone he had ever seen before. His eyes widened as he realized where he was and then took in her words.

"Blast," Atreyu cursed himself, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He sported a few creases on his arms and his face from the pages and couldn't help feeling entirely embarrassed about the whole thing, though he played it as cooly as possible. He quickly began rearranging all the material that had gone astray during his rocky dreams, fixing all the books to be neatly stacked and square to the tabletop, his papers and pens all in order. "Thank ye, fer the 'wakenin'. Nah. I didn' come 'ere fer a nap. I been studyin', 'r least I was."

He stood up, his cloak-like garb falling away from the chair as he extended his hand. "Atreyu be my name. Ho'nestly, thanks. Might I as' yers?"

She was a very good looking woman, if he had to say so himself, though after just waking up from a nap he didn't feel he had the right to think much of anything at the moment.

"Blast."

With relatively little prompting the previously prone body sprang to life, the desk quickly set to rights. Watching this nearly comical moment, Ally gripped her cup with both hands, feeling the warmth seep into her digits and palm, the smooth ceramic like a heating rock under her touch. She didn't really think anything needed to be said on her part, but neither did she really feel like walking away; she was at odds with herself this morning - which was how she had ended up here. She should probably be studying, emailing her benefactor, or tens of other things - but here she was instead, with a good cup of tea and her guitar looking for something more interesting to happen along her path.

"Thank ye, fer the 'wakenin'. Nah. I didn' come 'ere fer a nap. I been studyin', 'r least I was."

"No problem," she said with a little chuckle, "I hope that when I do that same thing someone wakes me up too."

"Atreyu be my name. Ho'nestly, thanks. Might I as' yers?"

Extending her own hand to grasp his, she gave him a broad smile, "I'm Ally," she replied.

Noting his interesting clothing she refrained from saying anything and glanced at the books; there were quite a lot of them! "Well, with all of this it's no wonder you're a little tired - just getting them all here would be enough to warrant a nap!" Absently she touched the nearest books cover, seeing it without reading it, "What are you studying anyways?"

"Eh..." Atreyu started, wincing at the explanation. How could he really tell someone the entirety of what he was doing? And of course, would he even want to? Sure, the young man knew that he should probably make friends, not just because his mother told him to, but because he knew it would probably be a nice thing, considering his only pals were his shipmates. At the same time, it would be difficult to really open up to a person. The young woman before him was definitely younger than him, cheery, but there was also a realness to her...almost...homey. He offered a short, but warm smile and started. "Me fam'ly. I be an archaeo'lgist. Me fathar an' me modder 'fore me. I s'pose most people reckon me a pirate. Least, thass wha' I been taught."

Perhaps talking with other people here at his school would help him also lose the accent that he had been having difficulties with in communicating. Afterall, the people around here didn't all have to speak English, but the ones that could couldn't even understand him, including the admissions. He nervously brushed some bright red bangs out of his eyes, though it appeared more as though it were a scoffy toss than anything. He was always wary, even though his mother and father told him that he was probably the safest he'd ever been by being on land.

He set his pencils down neatly, eyeing over the placement to make sure it was all rectified before turning his complete attention on the young girl and hoping that she would stay before him. Atreyu noticed, finally, her interesting clothes, her layered looking hair that reminded him of the smooth wooden rails on his father's ship. The grains were all different colours, deep and bright, but blended beautifully in one amazing sign of strength and stability. Worn and familiar. Her eyes had almost the same appearance, but they were definitely a different collection of brown. The young pirate lord's eyes were the complete opposite, bright as an everlasting flame, a hot blade ready to be hammered. He thought them rather plain.

"Do ye study here?"

His combination of red hair and eyes were quite striking, perhaps if he was the first person she had met with red orbes it would have been more startling, but as it was - she found him more familiar. While his pattern of speaking different, she was able to understand him and find his manner of speaking quite intriguing. He was quite meticulous about his things, or at least the care he took in positioning it all down to the tiniest detail was quite interesting.

"Do ye study here?"

Being at AHS - well, it hadn't been her choice per say. In the beginning she had drug her feet about it, and the transition actually hadn't happened all that long ago. Somewhere along the line she had actually stopped fighting the flow and had jumped in the boat. Granted she wasn't making a lot of headway right now, but soon she hoped to change that, if everything went well - it wouldn't be that much longer...

Nodding, "Yes," she smiled and took a sip of the still too warm tea, "I've been here a little while. Just avoiding the study thing right now," sliding her free hand into her pocket she held the cup up under her chin where she could smell the aroma wafting off of the brew.

"So - am I just not understanding it - but I believe being an archeologist and a pirate are two different things," her brow furrowed in thought, she at least understood them to be quite different - but she could always be wrong.

The young pirate was pleased to hear that she studied at AHS because it meant that she was not just a stranger passing by. If he got lucky, perhaps he would be able to see her on more occasion than one! The only thing that made him happier was when she continued to speak with him.

"Tech'nic'lly speakin' yes," Atreyu replied, thankful for the intellectual discussion they were having. He had missed speaking with his old professor about anything and everything. Actually interacting with someone, someone who wanted to listen and speak, was just about the best thing that could've happened to him at the moment. The young man gave her a lopsided smile as he started. "But th' thing issat I be a pirate innat I disco'er a treasure and I steal it, but I be an archaeologist innat I disco'er a treasure and I kee' it fer studyin'. I research it. I learn aboot it."

As these words flowed from him with an ease he hadn't found for a long time, Atreyu wondered whether or not he could tell Ally about his situation, more or less his condition. The young man wanted desperately to make a new friend, but didn't want to scare the girl either, who appeared to be very well-mannered and natured. Perhaps she would actually listen and not look at him like...well...a scoundrel.

"I know it be a litt'le hard on me first meetin' yer, but I mus' explain so ye don't think me whole fam'ly a bunch of rascals."

He took a deep breath, a calm sweeping through him as he steadied himself to try the situation. His eyes founded a sharp look and he unconsciously tightened his hand almost into a grip, completely the opposite stature of the young woman before him who seemed quite content with her mug of tea and cozy clothes.

"My family be cursed, an' I aim to find the truth of it. I be...the las' hope."

Pursing her lips, she didn't quite understand how he was a pirate - if the treasure didn't belong to anyone she why couldn't someone just find it... It was a line of thought she didn't really know much about, but could only trust his obvious experience in it as he was quickly moving on to something else, so all she managed to get out was a thoughtful, "Hmmmm," her face contorted into a thoughtful expression, her dark eyes studying his face for clues.

"I know it be a litt'le hard on me first meetin' yer, but I mus' explain so ye don't think me whole fam'ly a bunch of rascals." He took a deep breath, his demeanor loosing some of the casualness and changing to something a bit more purposeful. Ally pushed the previous line of thought off to the side - she could return to that soon enough. "My family be cursed, an' I aim to find the truth of it. I be...the las' hope."

Blinking for a second, her face unchanging she waited to him to say anything else, which he did not. There was no more explanation, no punch line, he was quite serious and Ally was not completely sure what to make of it. Shifting her weight to on foot she peered a little more intently at his face, attempting to discern more from him that way - but she could tell nothing. Well if he was serious about it there was no reason for Ally to judge what she did not know. She knew she was raised rather out of the loop on many things, so it was completely believable that there were things out there that she knew nothing about.

After a slight pause, she finally spoke, "Hmm," not profound at all, but she wanted to choose her words carefully, so she spoke slowly, "I don't think I have any experience with that - but do you want to explain more?" Taking a deep drink from her cup, finally cool enough to do more than sip, she felt the warm liquid running through her body.

Atreyu thought about apologizing for being lost in thought really when he muttered the last bit to her, but he decided to simply continue explaining instead.

"Really inn't much more ter explain. I 'aven't a clue ter what the cause is or inn't. Thass what I plan to find out. Alls I know is we pirates be searchin' for artifacts that muss hold some sort o' power. If any of them 'xist 'ere, I aim ter find 'em. Then, when alls said 'n don', I'll 'ead on me ship and travel who knows where!" Atreyu stated, rather proudly, though also honestly. He really had no idea where they would be going afterward. He knew that there must be clues though, something in the text books and something in the land that would help him.

He paused a moment, his eyes scanning over the large tomes that lay about the table in a clean order now. He did miss his father and his mother dearly, but things here on land were just...so strange.

"I s'ppose you can tell...I miss me ocean and ship. Me fah'ther 'n m'ther sent me here ter school meself. People are...diff'rent here. Much more d'vers'ty. On me ship it's just me fah'ther 'n m'ther and me crew. Not many a person."

Atreyu looked at Ally and studied her a second. Did she look like an adventuring type. Some people did and some didn't. Honestly many people surprised the pirate with how apt they were to travel or loot. He had had many experiences with many different people.

"You like 'xplorin'? E'er been on a ship 'fore?" Atreyu asked, interested on whether she would be up for a very long and tiresome adventure.

It was fascinating! Taking another drink of her tea she shuffled the guitar hanging from her thin shoulders into a better position and leaned against the magazine rack nest to her. He seemed really passionate about it and she wondered what an exciting life he must have led. Suddenly her own seemed very dull - but it wasn't anything she could help so the moment passed quickly.

"It sounds exciting," she said into the moment of reflection, her voice a bit quiet even to her ears as she allowed herself a little day-dream, envisioning herself on the prow of a ship, the surf breaking and splattering her with a mist of spray...

"I s'ppose you can tell...I miss me ocean and ship. Me fah'ther 'n m'ther sent me here ter school meself. People are...diff'rent here. Much more d'vers'ty. On me ship it's just me fah'ther 'n m'ther and me crew. Not many a person."

Ally did not miss his study of her, like he was sizing her up. It wasn't quite uncomfortable, but she did wonder what was passing through his mind. She couldn't imagine what life was like with only a small handful of known people; she'd grown up with so many and they were always changing that the very idea was so very foreign to her...

"I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like.." she started to say, a small smile playing about her lips a little nervously. Sure people looked at her, she was tall and thin and usually drew the attention from playing but at least that gave a reason for the looking!

"You like 'xplorin'? E'er been on a ship 'fore?"

"I can't say I've ever had the occasion for either. I grew up an orphan so I've never been farther than the city until I came here." Pausing to give it thought, she added, "But I think I'd like to someday. I've spent so much of my life in one area that it would be nice to see more of the world, explore a little of it for myself." And then realizing she must sound very foolish, her cheeks colored a bit and she glanced at her feet, laughing nervously, "Sorry - I must sound awfully boring to you!"

"Bein' on a ship is nice 'n in'mate. Gives me a real sense o' fam'ly. I like it that way, though I s'pose now I aim to rectify me mistake o' makin' no mates. All me friends be me crew mates. It be a bit borin' once ye played 'em the same ol' tricks," Atreyu added, smiling as he thought of all the times he had fooled the men and women with different jokes.

He was excited to hear that she would love to explore and could see that she was yearning to see something more before she had even uttered the words. That made him feel a bit better, knowing that there was someone else that also longed to travel and see more things. Atreyu shook some red bangs out of his eyes and gave another lop-sided grin as he put his hands in his pockets and almost embarrassingly replied, "Nah. Ye 'nnt borin'! Jus' sounds like ye need a break. Ye speak o' someday! 'nyday ye wantter, let me know! I aim to set sail as soon as I 'ave explored everythin' 'round 'ere. 'onestly!"

Perhaps it was too forward of him to suggest it to begin with, but Ally seemed like a nice girl, and Atreyu had, truly, no conception of what a date was in his entire life. To tell the truth, this was perhaps one of the first encounters he had with a female that wasn't his mother, and it was going quite well.

"I dun mean ter pressure, but I's jus' offerin'," the young pirate lord said with as much of a sincere face as he could muster. He knew that it must be odd for her to hear this. "Or if ye mind a huntin' fer some clues with me 'round this school, I ain't mindin' the help..."

It be a bit borin' once ye played 'em the same ol' tricks," he had a nice smile and though his eyes were strangely reminiscent of someone else she knew, they were different enough she could see him - if that made any sense.

"Well that I can get," she smiled - thinking warmly of her own 'family', "I didn't have the normal mom and dad thing," she shrugged and took a small sip of her tea, "but I duno, it's like all of us kids and the home staff were like a family - so I guess it's kinda similar, but in a very not similar way." Laughing at herself, she shook her head, "Don't mind me, I'm rambling," she said as she waved her hand.

"Nah. Ye 'nnt borin'! Jus' sounds like ye need a break. Ye speak o' someday! 'nyday ye wantter, let me know! I aim to set sail as soon as I 'ave explored everythin' 'round 'ere. 'onestly! It should be noted that Ally generally likes everyone she meets and is rather unassuming so taking into consideration the language difficulties and her own innocent demeanor, she smiled and nodded cheerfully, full of enthusiasm, "That could be a lot of fun." Jostling her cup to the other hand, her expressive, dark brown eyes twinkling, with a hint of a joke, "Could I wear a pirate hat?" She asked with an arched, comical brow.

Taking no offense to the comment, for Atreyu recognized it as a joke, he laughed, a throaty chortle that resonated in the air. He shook his head, thinking about the stereotypes that he had run into while he had been on land. There had been few encounters, but just things he had seen in movies and books were enough to make him grin. "If yer want. So long assit in'nt pink."

He thought about what his mother would think to another addition on the ship. She could probably learn a lot from the crew, and her just talking about the sort of family she had growing up was exactly what his experience was like, well, sort of.

"Ye talk to yer mates much?" Atreyu asked, referring to her friends from the orphanage. "Did yer mind it much?"

He shifted his weight, his hand subconsciously going to rest on the butt of his holster. The double barrel pistol there, signature of pirates, sat there peacefully in the worn leather pouch. Beside that, a few small pockets adorned the same waistband and his machetes lay steathily in wait on either side. Atreyu was certainly the real thing.

He waited for a response from her, studying her face and becoming familiar with her eyes, nose shape, hair. It didn't take intense looking. The young man was by far one of the most observant pirates and so he managed to take all the information in at a glance. She was definitely younger than him by at least two years. It did not show through maturity of the mind, but definitely through her appearance. There was still something more youth-like about her.

"Ye like it 'ere? Studyin' anythin' speci'ic?"

Truth be told, the young man thought the education here was nice and all, but definitely wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to be out and away, searching for answers, not cooped up in a room hearing someone drone on, despite how interesting it may be. He figured he had enough learning from his master.

"If yer want. So long assit in'nt pink."

"Nooo, not pink!" She exclaimed, releasing the guitar and waving her hand in an exaggerated gesture, "I'm thinking something brown or black, gray maybe, with a really big feather." She laughed at herself, knowing it was silly and hoping he didn't mind the stereotype.

"Ye talk to yer mates much? Did yer mind it much?"

Well that sobered her up. Her face assumed a calm, if slightly sad cast, her hand returning to grasp the guitar strap and then release it to run her fingers along the grain of the plain, unadorned leather. "I'm not allowed to talk to them," she said quietly. "You see, since I'm technically the ward of someone else now they very much discourage continued contact with any of the other orphans. It's for safety," she shrugged and gazed at the liquid contents of her cup for a moment before looking up again, "I still hear from other people though not all of them. Coming here was the result of some difficult circumstances."

His gaze was a little uncomfortable after that, but she bravely attempted a smile, "Life goes on though - right?"

"Ye like it 'ere? Studyin' anythin' speci'ic?"

Sipping her tea again she swallowed and then shrugged her shoulders, "Not really. Just the normal allotment of classes I guess."

After that last little admission she was lothe to admit why she didn't have a specific area of study because then she would just look rather pathetic. No one knew where to put her because no one really knew what she was capable of - if anything. Of course if he ashed she'd tell him why, it just wasn't a piece of information many people wanted to know. You didn't go around talking about uncomfortable topics when you just met a person very often....

Atreyu was glad that the young woman agreed about the whole pink thing. That was something that he really couldn't stand. Sure it was stereotypical for females to like the colour pink, but Atreyu was used to having very hardy females in his life and he wasn't sure if he could handle a woman...that was truly a woman.

The young man tried to imagine what life in an orphanage would be like as she spoke, thinking about all the friends she must've grown up with and how sad she must be without them now. He could see it in her face in an instant, the contours of her eyes and cheeks told of many memories and many pains. He could tell that he had brought something up that was mixed in feelings, both happy and sad.

"'pologies fer bringin' the mood down on ya. I can un'erstand the safety business, but it ain't pre'tty not to be seeing them no more. I am truly sorry that ye 'ad such troubles though..."

Atreyu, as rough and tumble as he seemed, never wished anyone ill, even though he had a very harsh perspective on many things and did feel as though most of the world was 'fend for yourself'. He was always the kind of person to help another and did want to do good. She didn't seem to be very interested in classes much at all, or at least that was something that was so standard she had really gotten used to it, so Atreyu decided to try something else. Unfortunately, it really related to the subject that he had subconsciously tried to avoid, but ended up encountering anyway.

"Ye 'ave any powers o' any sort? I ain't any 'cept me blades and me barrel," Atreyu said, somewhat sheepishly. He liked learning about other peoples' powers and here at AHS, there was definitely more than meets the eye. The most innocent of persons could wield the deadliest magic!

"It's fine," Ally shrugged and sipped more of her tea; she was almost done with it - which was sad. It tasted so good! "In time it'll all be fine."

"Ye 'ave any powers o' any sort? I ain't any 'cept me blades and me barrel," Atreyu said, somewhat sheepishly.

Laughing, Ally was at least comfortable discussing her predicament now; unlike when she'd first arrived and broaching the subject brought her close to tears. "Don't say that - we all have a little bit of special in us," sliding the guitar around so it sat at hip level, the neck jutting out like a jouster's lance she absently fiddled with the cup. "Supposedly," she said followed quickly with a sigh, "I have powers. I was accused of being a Siren - which is impossible. So whatever my accused powers are - I don't know - and if I don't find out soon I will loose my scholarship and after that I don't know what will become of me."

Well there it was - her bleak little existence as it was now. What should happen to her if she lost the scholarship had not been dealt with; she was a little afraid to think about it honestly.

"So you see Atreyu," she smiled pleasantly and threw in a wink at the end, "we aren't what we can do - that's just something that comes along with the package."

Atreyu noticed that the liquid in her glass was slowly waning, and he was about to offer to buy her some more before she continued speaking. He didn't want to interrupt her, so he listened and smiled with his red eyes.

At the word 'siren', the young pirate stiffened visibly. He was definitely wary of such creatures, myth by some and sworn existence by others. He had heard enough from his father that he had a reasonable....well, was it fear or just curiosity for them? She said that she had been "accused" of being a Siren, which definitely was not the same as being one, and Atreyu was not one to judge so quickly, but it was something to keep in mind...

"How, if I migh' ask, do ye know it ter be imposs'ble? Who dun the accusin'?" Atreyu asked. He'd like to know because maybe they knew more of pirate lore and could tell, plus he had a general concern for the predicament that Ally was in. It sounded like a tough place to be in. "And er...what be yer schol'rship if I ain't bein' too nosy..."

At the last bit, Atreyu had to smirk back. She was certainly clever in her words there. Perhaps she was right though. Maybe Ally understood better than anyone what it meant to be who you wanted to be an not just what you could do. It was a bit of a foreign concept to Atreyu, who had always been rasied on the idea that a man was worth what he could protect, love, and smuggle and how well he could fight.

Downing the remaining liquid to drink it while it was warm and not necessarily because she was thirsty, she wiped a little dribble on her shin and set the now empty cup on a bare expanse of the table that was mostly covered with Atreyu's things; as the cup was dry she hoped he didn't mind. Sliding her hands into her pockets she rocked from heel to toe as he spoke; something she had said had made him slightly different. She couldn't place exactly what was different but just the way he looked at her was slightly different...

"How, if I migh' ask, do ye know it ter be imposs'ble? Who dun the accusin'? And er...what be yer schol'rship if I ain't bein' too nosy..."

Chuckling she nodded. "One question at a time," she winked. "Well, as far as I can tell there were only three known Sirens who supposedly killed themselves; now there is some this or that talk about possible half-breed children, but I just really don't see that as a possibility. It's just," shrugging she was struggling for words, her tone more serious, "I don't know - I just don't accept it. There has to be a reason.

"As far as the accuser - for your second question," resuming a more upbeat tone, "It all happened really quickly one night when I was playing an open mic night thing and when I got up to play, I wasn't even halfway through my first song when this crazy guy comes out of nowhere and drags me off stage," not long ago she couldn't tell this story without getting choked up and now here she was telling it like some funny old story. How things change! "And he's like, holding me off the ground and is screaming and yelling and throws me out on the sidewalk and smashes my guitar - I think he would have done more but I ran away." She spared herself a giggle at that, remembering how frightened she'd been; she had been heart broken over her best guitar lying on the concrete like shattered glass.

"Well as it turns out the guy was some sort of anti-New Eden guy - who was a meta himself and had some type of crazy sensory powers. He was a real nut job - all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories and what not. It was that, and that it happened infront of all my human friends and the idea that if I had a rogue gift I needed to get help for it, which brings me to your third question!"

Thankfully Ally had the gift for performing in general, and conversation like this where you told so much about yourself was a small stage for your talent. She was an animated creature, using her hands and body language to make the story as friendly and interesting as possible. She'd had enough pity and was ready to surmount the odds against her, capture the flag, own the mountain and move on!

"A bunch of friends got together and got enough money to get me over here and start to pay for tuition but when I got over here my old music buddy, Marcus, started searching for something that could help me; New Eden being completely pro-meta and everything. Well he found me a benefactor through some program that is on the move to get proper training for any young person with meta-powers. The idea being to produce a more competent meta-population or whatever," really she wasn't too clear on the specifics - she just knew the results, "long story made short, through this organization, they hooked me up with someone who is willing to pay for my school and give me a certain amount of other money to live on.

"So there you have it. All my problems, issues, and larger-than-life stories in one sitting," she really couldn't help herself giggling - the poor boy knew almost her life story, "anything else you want to know about me?"

Atreyu watched as she wiped her mouth and continued with her explanation. It was the curse of observation. He noticed absolutely everything whether he wanted to or not. Of course, not placing much emphasis on the action, the young man concentrated on her words and the shapes her lips made as she spoke, the way wrinkles around her eyes moved as she spoke. He saw her shoulder move in a small rock as she laughed and picked up every habit in an instant. Unknowingly, Atreyu could probably use these quick observations to make prety good impressions of people, but he hadn't tried.

"Only three known Sirens? Int'restin'...." Atreyu commented, more to himself than to her. That was something that the young man had not found in his studies. He was under the impressions from the myths and stories that he had heard, the folklore, that Sirens were quite numerous in very specific parts of the world. He would just have to travel and find out he supposed. "Ye not be acceptin' this sit'ation 'cause ye don't suppose yerself a half-siren? Be it a bad thing to be one?"

Of course, Atreyu had a hard time asking one question at the same time. He had a knack for really cornering people down and pounding them with such inquiries, mostly because he had such a thirst for knowledge, such a strong curiosity that he wanted his answers fast and to the point.

He waited for a response before thinking about what Ally said of the accuser. He didn't know what an 'open mic' was, but assumed that it was some social function that involved the music that she had. Obviously she was carrying some sort of instrument with her now but it wasn't the one she had before because she explained that that one had been broken. "'pologies, but what be this New-Eden? And be it bad to your human friends that ye be a meta?"

Atreyu was not in the loop, mostly because he had transferred into the school when all this craziness was happening and totally sealed himself away from everyone by sticking to himself and just searching the various places on the island. The young pirate watched Ally's hands as she moved them in conversation, glad to know that she was a very involved person and totally serious when she was speaking of these topics. It was reassuring to find someone mature to talk about.

"That be a sturdy pact! Ya scurvy dog ortin' t' be keel hauled!"

Although Atreyu was schooled on his father's ship with a tutorer in the way of land-livers and the language, he had a hard time processing the way to speak as quickly as most, so most of the time funny phrases and sayings slipped out without him thinking of them. Before Ally could give him a confused look or say anything, Atreyu reworded his sentence and laughed, though not embarrassingly, "Er...very good deal?"

He flipped some red bangs out of his eyes, dropping his hand from the holster and standing with a stockier stance when she asked if there was anything else he'd be wanting to know. Smiling good-naturedly, Atreyu asked, "Ye be wantin' s'mmore tea?"

"So there you have it. All my problems, issues, and larger-than-life stories in one sitting," she really couldn't help herself giggling - the poor boy knew almost her life story, "anything else you want to know about me?"

((OOC: Gah - this one is really not good...I'm sorry))

"Only three known Sirens? Int'restin'....Ye not be acceptin' this sit'ation 'cause ye don't suppose yerself a half-siren? Be it a bad thing to be one?"

It wasn't necessarily the good or bad that had Ally making quick decisions, "Well, the origional three Sirens were these women-bird-like creatures and they supposedly all died together. Now as they had some powers from a water being there were children that were something like a mermaid that inherited the same powers - but I'm neither fish nor fowl, so I find it really hard to believe," she shrugged. She didn't personally see it as a reality.

"'pologies, but what be this New-Eden? And be it bad to your human friends that ye be a meta?"

New Eden she dismissed with a wave of her hand. She had grown up in a very normal, human area - which was one of the reasons she'd been shuffled out like she had, but she didn't resent that. "Well there's this little country called America and it has new leadership and they decided to change the name and be a pill - I duno - we were kept in the dark a lot as the house mum didn't want to make us worry. I'm still real foggy on the details, I just know it's a new name."

"Ye be wantin' s'mmore tea?"

Glancing at the already forgotten cup she blinked at it, part of her wondering where it had come from before memory ran by and kicked her, "Oh! Oh no, thanks - I just wanted a cup."

((OOC: No probs. I counter your bad one with my own bad one. XD I IMed you! Where were you?))

At the explanation of Sirens, he thought about what he had learned. He thought that they were purely mermaid like creatures, but perhaps not. He could be wrong, of course because he did not know much of them. Perhaps Atreyu would ask his mother and father when he contacted them next.

Atreyu thought about America. Yes he had been there before, but he hadn't really travelled there for a while, so it was probably something that he hadn't heard of while he was at sea. There were a lot of things you missed while you were in the middle of the ocean. He smiled at the thought of things in the world changing around him but the sea remaining constant. It was a pleasant feeling.

He didn't know what to do next. She didn't want more tea, but would she stay and listen to him talk more or would she want to talk more. Atreyu's mind ran furiously and finally it hit him.

"Ye be wantin' some 'elp researchin'?" the young pirate asked, but before the words had even escaped him a thought passed in front of his eyes, as if roused from the depths of his mind. "I 'member a passage in these here books 'bout Sirens somewhere if ye be int'rested!"

He dug around the books and flipped through a couple of them as he looked.

Pulling the guitar around finally so it sat in front of her, her hands automatically went to head and body where she casually strummed a progression of a few easy, open chords - keeping the sound quiet. The guitar just begged to be played - the ivory body almost glistening...

"Ye be wantin' some 'elp researchin'?" the young pirate asked, "I 'member a passage in these here books 'bout Sirens somewhere if ye be int'rested!"

She'd spent so much of her time when she first got here studying and searching that the idea of more study was an entertaining idea still. She didn't have anything going on for the rest of the day, and she really didn't want to go back to her room or search out any of the few people she knew. Not that things were bad, she just wanted something less ordinary - whatever that meant.

Her right hand did a hard down stroke, the left silencing the strings almost immediately as her expression perked up, "Sure!"

Helping herself, she stepped to the closest chair that Atreyu had not been sitting in and pulling it out she sat down and went about situating the guitar as was most comfortable in her lap - propping her elbows on the body.

Marveling at all of the books, their various coverings and faces telling stories all their own. "So how do you have so many books? Where do you come by them all?"

Atreyu's eyes did not miss anything, and he quickly spotted her starkingly white guitar and memorized the sound of the strumming. He hadn't heard an electric guitar before, but he assumed this is what she had been referring to. The guitars he had seen had all been relics, more like violins and mandolins than anything. They were most always made of unfinished wood and had broken strings. Finding her enthusiastic response alarming, but delightful, the young pirate set out to find the book her had been searching for.

"Well I be a collect'r o' sorts. 'ist'ry and stud'y o' myth. Many be books from me father's libr'ry. Stuff 'e's been collectin' fer many a year. I found me some in the Superna'tral Hall at school 'nd a few be journal from me tutor and meself."

He tossed around a leather bound notebook and then a few loose pages of sketches and diagrams that he had done of various different relics before finding a large, red-bound cloth book with yellowing pages and a very musty smell. Sliding it carefully from underneath a few smaller books, Atreyu tried not to knock anything over as he did so and he succeeded. He set the book in front of Ally, standing next to her as he flipped through the pages and to the spot where he remembered it being.

"Accordin' to this here account, Greek in nature, the Sirens be former handma'ens o' Persephone, daugh'er o' Deme'er, the Earth Goddess. When Persephone be kidnapped, Deme'er gave 'em all wings so they could find 'er daugh'er. Their song be so entrancin' 'cause they be rela'ed to birds."

Atreyu skimmed the passage some more, which included a whole lot of text and a great deal of old drawings done by various artists of these women. There was a specific drawing that depicted that there were three maidens with their names written in Greek beneath them and then a few drawings of different stories that included Siren characters. Atreyu turned the book toward her more as he began to grab a few more and search and suggested, "If ye be int'rested, ye be welcome to look hard in these books. I ain't be budgin' a while 'nd there might be somethin' more yet lyin' in 'ere."

((OOC: it's a white acoustic guitar ~__^ ))

"Well I be a collect'r o' sorts. 'ist'ry and stud'y o' myth. Many be books from me father's libr'ry. Stuff 'e's been collectin' fer many a year. I found me some in the Superna'tral Hall at school 'nd a few be journal from me tutor and meself."

Tenderly touching the edges of the proffered book she bent over the pages, her eyes pouring quickly over the words as Atreyu stood over her, giving a synopsis of what it said.

"If ye be int'rested, ye be welcome to look hard in these books. I ain't be budgin' a while 'nd there might be somethin' more yet lyin' in 'ere."

Grinning, she reached over and touched a few familiar volumes, "You know - I think I see some books here I recognize," helping herself she pulled one she knew she had looked through more than a month before closer to her. "I think," flipping the book open and touching the pages she knew, "I've pillaged he library clean of anything about Sirens and music and anything I could think of..."

She was hesitant to say this out loud. She hadn't really talked about it to anyone yet because she was a little embarrassed - but what better than a perfect stranger? He wasn't connected to anyone or anything she knew and if he thought badly of her - oh well! Rotating in her chair and twisting her upper body so she was gazing up at him she simply looked at his face - wondering if she should really talk about her little secret...

"I think I've read everything I can," she said after a rather pregnant pause. Her tone was still positive and friendly - but much more determined and serious. "I think," she began with a slight pause - she really was going to talk about it, "I think I might have found someone who can help me. He's rather hard to find and impossible to contact directly - but I think he may just be willing to help me..." She felt silly saying it - and she immediately regretted it...

((OOC: Mah bad. XD Fixed.))

Atreyu began to engross himself in the pages he had scoured so many times but for such different information, that he lost himself in the few moments, his eyes tracing words in different languages and images on burned and bent sheets of parchment.

At the sound of her voice speaking of her experience, Atreyu merely shrugged, mixing the motion with a light hair toss with his head. He didn't mind if she had looked all over the library. These books were here, so if she found anything then that was good, if not, no loss to him at all. He didn't care either way. He continued to flip the pages swiftly but carefully in the green bound book that he had in his hands now and didn't perk up until she began speakin gin an obviously more serious tone. There was pleasantness, but it was definitely underlying and Atreyu could hear the edge there.

"If ye found some'un then why don't ye go huntin' fer 'im?" Atreyu asked, snapping the book shut gently and putting it on the table again perfectly in front of him. He was pleased that the books were still in good order on the wooden table. Assured, Atreyu set his whole attention to her and continued, "Even if he be 'ard ter find, if ye be wantin' it so much, there ain't no other choice. How be it impossible ter con'act 'im directly?"

This intrigued Atreyu, whose mind was always thirsty for folklore, myth, and legend. Could there be some sort of secret here that the young man did not know about and could learn? Or would Ally close off and shut him off from any other information? Could perhaps what she told him actually help him on his own search? He certainly wanted answers now!

"Even if he be 'ard ter find, if ye be wantin' it so much, there ain't no other choice. How be it impossible ter con'act 'im directly?"

Ally chewed on her lip; it was a fanciful story she wondered if he would believe. "Well, for starters - most people think he's dead." She paused, allowing that to sit between them before continuing. She had read about him after arriving at school in an old book no one would know about and the forward had detailed his supposed insanity and death; which had turned out to be one large lie.

"This man wrote a book about the power of the mind - when he wrote the book it wasn't so obvious he was a meta, but he was very powerful. If I understand it right he had a creation power; not so much creating something out of seemingly nothing but actually building things from the molecular level." There was more to it than that - but it was truly impressive.

"He also had some very impressive mental powers that allowed him to consciously and unconsciously control people; publically he was killed in a very tragic accident - but I think it's all made up. He's actually alive and I think I've found him -well, his friend who is like his gatekeeper. He lives in a self-imposed imprisonment in a prison he created himself to keep people safe from his power. Anyways, I've traded a few emails with him and I want to go there - see if he can't help me."

Gazing off in the distance she lost herself for a moment in the thoughts of what could be, what might be, and what was. Slowly it dawned on her that she had said too much, had gotten too personal and was being rude. Starting she looked at the red haired young man and blushed a little, "I'm sorry - I've rambled on a lot. You're trying to study, and I'm bothering you." Fidgeting with the guitar strap encircling her shoulders she was suddenly a bit uncomfortable.

"Botherin' me. Ye ain't been botherin' me! It be one o' the most facinatin' things I 'eard fer a long time yet! We be scoutin' him out soon then? Maybe he be an adventuresome type with treasures o' 'is own!" Atreyu thought, his drive and lust for treasure taking over. Sure he wanted to help her and it sounded like a lot of fun. The history was really interesting to hear about, but now that he was actually thinking about he, he was sure he had to meet this man! Perhaps he would even have an idea of what kind of power his family might have...or know what the curse was about.

"Why ye be thinkin' he'll help ye? Ye got anythin' ter offer 'im? If he be puttin' himself in 'is own brig, then ye be correspondin' with 'im er 'is mate?" Atreyu asked in a flurry. He packed up some of his books as he spoke with her, watching her fingers go across the guitar. There was almost nothing that could save Atreyu from an adventure.

The young man really could not trust Ally with anything, and she herself stopped from continuing to speak about her situation. He had to remind himself not to get carried away. The pirate had always been warned about the danger of women, but that was something that he had laughed off as a child. Perhaps this seemed too good to be true...but no, the young woman before him seemed true enough. Perhaps she just needed help and didn't want to ask him directly. Either way, Atreyu smiled to himself and thought about all the preparations he could make.

"How far be this cutless man?"

Details - details she really couldn't answer. The emails had been vague enough; Mr. Rupert had made it clear that things, money especially - could not buy their time. If they chose to help, if she made the venture out to them, they would take her on only should need destine them to do so. What exactly that entailed was beyond her.

"How far be this cutless man?"

"Well, the post on Mr. Rupert's email put them in South Africa, on the tip actually. I looked it up and it was a big port city, but I can't remember the name," she said quietly.

Honestly - what was keeping her here? Twirling a piece of hair she allowed for a moment of introspection before giving her a kick in the proverbial pants. Shrugging she looked up, searching out those red orbs, "Not sure why I haven't gone; they won't accept money or anything. Theeeeeey, they say that they only take the cases that need them," it sounded hokey, but it was what she had been told...

"'nd ye think they be the only measure o' suvival fer ye?" Atreyu asked, thinking about the whole situation in general. Sure he wanted to leave AHS and be on the ocean again, but his parents would be angrier than a bunch of Tortugan women on Sunday and he had a lot to deal with studying while he was here. On the other hand, a short trip to South Africa wouldn't be too bad. He could make it there fairly swiftly..."If ye aim to be travellin' by ship, then ye ain't be makin' the round fer anoth'er month 'r three. It be a long way to South Africa from 'ere."

It was the truth of it. Atreyu had travelled to the continent many times before, though not necessarily to the exact tip. The fact that she mentioned them only accepting necessary cases sounded like a bunch of bull to Atreyu. Who wouldn't accept money in this day and age? Barely anyone! If this man had truly isolated himself, maybe it was better to just leave him alone.

"Ye sure 'e be wantin' any visitors anyway?" the young pirate questioned, shifting his weight to one leg and allowing the machetes to tap his hips and thighs as he did. He enjoyed feeling their weight there and it made him more sure about the whole living in Japan thing, though he really needed to get over being on land so much. The novelty had worn off when he was four and Atreyu knew he was forever bound to the sea. His bright red eyes, question in every shade, eyed Ally closely for an answer.

"If ye aim to be travellin' by ship, then ye ain't be makin' the round fer anoth'er month 'r three. It be a long way to South Africa from 'ere."

Blinking, she attempted to understand why he would suggest sailing when you could hop on a plane and be there in a handful of hours - but again, he was raised on the sea and out prefer that. Shaking her head, "No, I would fly. I have a deadline of less than a month..."

"Ye sure 'e be wantin' any visitors anyway?"

The emails were suddenly in front of her minds eye; they were friendly like pages. Surprise at her wanting to seek them out. Amusement at her for having read the books and articles they had written. Halting agreement to her visit a possibility...

Shrugging, she looked back up at him, meeting his eyes and knowing full well she should have kept it to herself - but it was out there now. "I'm working under a deadline. I have to be able to prove I'm meta to keep my scholarship, and everything they've said to me has been welcoming, and on occasion encouraging. If they want money my benefactor has stated they're willing to pay," sighing she ran a hand along the guitar, "sooooooo," idly she looked down at the instrument, her fingers sliding automatically to the strings that whispered to her - that wanted to be played, "I duno - I'll figure it out I guess..."

"In sit'ations like these," Atreyu started, understanding full well the deadline of her scholarship and how she needed to find out how to remedy her problem fast, "ye best be watchin' yer back fer any surprises. Men ain't aimin' ter please most times, 'cept 'emselves. Even if they be cordial now, best to keep watch in person. Perhaps ye oughtta bring some'um with ye. A best mate 'r somethin'."

Atreyu hoped not to come off as being an obnoxious know-it-all, but it had a lot of experience with people that often times wanted to take a knife into his back while smiling at him, so he had learned quickly not to trust other people as much as most would. Thinking on the whole thing, Atreyu judged the situation he was in now and decided that it would probably be in his best interest to stay out...but would he be able to satiate his curiosity?

Certainly the young man had never travelled on a plane before, and definitely was against the whole idea. Honestly? Air? That was for the birds! Why travel through the air when you could travel the sea and feel the breeze, the ocean spray, the rocking and the creaking of the ship? He shook his head at the notion of the airplane, although he understood her reasons for choosing such a method of transportation.

"I ain't aimin' to fly any time soon! It be too much on me poor 'eart!" the young pirate laughed, his red bangs swishing to and fro as his chest puffed in and out.

Ally appreciated his input; it was a bit awkward for her to have put the situation out to a complete stranger and he was at least taking it all in stride. For that she was thankful and willing to forgive any minor rough shod comments. Having grown up with a varied cast of people she was more than willing to forgive flaws and small things than some people, so she dismissed anything but the worth of his words and thought on them for a moment.

Had she been a more sensitive creature she could have been silly, and girly-ish hurt. Had she been a less ambitious girl she would never have gotten as far with her search as she had and perhaps would have never have done more than the normal rote of classes and cried her woe's of uncertainty to a vacant audience. However, she was a bit more driven, a bit more spunky than that.

"I ain't aimin' to fly any time soon! It be too much on me poor 'eart!" the young pirate laughed, his red bangs swishing to and fro as his chest puffed in and out.

Glancing at his weather worn face she broke out in a broad grin; she'd never seen the sea before. "Flying's not so bad, but I'm not much of a veteran at it myself." She recalled her wonderful one time only experience in a plane and how she had been a bundle of conflicting emotions. "I've actually never even seen the sea before... Well, I've seen it from like, New York Island - but I've never been out on the ocean." Well the change was unintentional, but she'd just cluelessly served it up, "What's it like?"

Atreyu was glad that she hadn't gotten upset over his words. Sure he had meant them, but a lot of people took them the wrong way and he had tried to be as nice as possible, so that was something. The fact that Ally didn't immediately shut him out and blame him or call him a jerk for treating her so or all that typical stuff was great for him. He enjoyed speaking to women who were intelligent rather than the belligerent and rambunctious harlots the men brought on the ship sometimes. His father had tried hard to persuade them not to and often put his foot down.

Upon Ally asking of the sea, Atreyu melted inside, of course, secretly. He look at the brown-haired young woman with the utmost sincere expression. "The sea be a finer part o' the world. When ye be 'fraid 'r upset there always be the waves there beyond. I feel it call me, a great calmin' sensation that begins in me heart and falls all the way to me toes, dwindlin' on me very fingertips."

Perhaps too much study of poetry and philosophy had made Atreyu speak this way, or perhaps because he had such a strong love for the ocean that he could say it like he felt it, but either way, the young man hadn't realized he had given the message such a strong lacing of emotions. He looked to her with a distant gaze, but a very present-shining smile. "The ocean be the thing fer ye ter see. Far as ye gaze can go! Clear wa'ers, white waves! Cloudless skies an' callin' 'gulls! Ye ought ter come on me ship next my father calls."

Of course the young pirate lord didn't have his ship with him at the moment. His father was taking care of it since he was in school, but soon Atreyu would rustle up a crew and be off on his own adventure! He just needed a band...

He spoke passionatly; which being a person of strong emotions when she did feel - Ally was both respectful and drawn to that part of him. She wondered what about the water had sparked this fire in him - casued this hurricane of feeling. He hadn't spoken about anything else like this.

As a song writer the motivation behind peoples' passions was the secret she persued; some money, adventure or whatever else - Ally cared about that story more than the thing people wished to posses, consume or be. That's where the best songs were; dipped in human emotion, justified by jilted reason, and burning with something alien and strange.

Part of her wanted to go aboard his ship for these very guilty and selfish reasons. The wider her experiences the better her music - right? She had no intention of living by that the rest of her life - but she wanted to make music she could be proud of and feel invested in. She'd been given a new look on life by moving here and she would be silly to not take full advantage of just these sort of opportunities that presented themselves to her.

"The ocean be the thing fer ye ter see. Far as ye gaze can go! Clear wa'ers, white waves! Cloudless skies an' callin' 'gulls! Ye ought ter come on me ship next my father calls."

Listening to his impassioned speech made her break out in a smile, catching some of his enthusiasm, "I'd like that," she said a bit more subdued but just as honest.

"What made your parents get into this anyways?" He talked very warmly of them which made her curious; families always made her curious. She'd never had one. "I mean, it seems like an odd profession to just decide you want to do..."

"It ain't fer decidin'," Atreyu replied, shrugging but accepting her question with ease and respect. He explained, "My family be cursed since far as we can remember. Ain't no choice in the matt'er! We be figurin' this out or we be perishin' from it. Dark, but no less truthful."

He had accepted this part of him as being an interest to most people. The problem was, since the curse went so far back he had no idea what it even was! He just knew that his family had been cursed. There must be something missing, something he had to find or search for to answer. The rest of his kin, including his father, would eventually grow deathly sick and die, but not yet. Atreyu still had several years for his father, but what if he couldn't find anything by then?

"I be in the dark abou' it, but I be sure of one thin'. I love it. We be searchin' fer ourselves and fer the people. I sail to find treasures we humans lost ages ago. Hist'ry. If I find the past of others, maybe I be finding my own past."

Atreyu brushed some of the red hair out of his eyes, finishing packing up his books into one large duffle bag the size of a young child. It was ridiculously large, but he had no trouble carrying it despite its obvious weight. The material was definitely cloth, perhaps muslin. "My father be callin' soon. Maybe in a month 'er two. If ye be wantin' to then, then we best be preparin' fer the journey. If ye wish to attend ter yer...business, I ain't stoppin' ye. If that be the case, then, how be it that I come by ye again?"

Atreyu's predicament sounded fascinating. Propping her elbow on the table she tapped her chin, awkwardly leaning over the guitar. While she had nothing to offer him as far as knowledge or a lead or anything - it was still interesting to ponder and speculate - though he did not seem particularily interested in hearing her out on anything else.

She didn't blame him; she'd become a regular chatty cathy and as he picked up his things she didn't doubt that she'd run him off a bit. Well there's teenage awkwardness for you! Did she regret dredging up her own history? Maybe a little - but it was done and out iwth and she couldn't change what had happened.

"My father be callin' soon. Maybe in a month 'er two. If ye be wantin' to then, then we best be preparin' fer the journey. If ye wish to attend ter yer...business, I ain't stoppin' ye. If that be the case, then, how be it that I come by ye again?"

Blinking up at the burdened boy - she hadn't expected that. "Um, well what do you prefer? Cell phone, dorm room, or email?" she chuckled. Pulling out a piece of paper from her pocket and using a pen that had been tucked behind her ear she wrote all three down without waiting for a responce, and slid it towards him, the rumpled piece of register paper wtih her latest tea purchase on the opposite side sitting there still rather rumpled.

"Just let me know what's kick'en okay?"

Talking to Atreyu gave her a slightly adventerous itch - maybe she would just pick up and go. There would be school work to worry about later, but she could catchup...

Ally was a really nice girl, and truly, Atreyu hated to leave her when she seemed so interested and interesting to speak with, but he felt like this conversation was probably better elsewhere since they were talking about private things.

Atreyu hitched the bag up higher on his shoulder, though the gesture was more habit than actually necessary. He gave her a lopsided smile as she began to scribble on the paper and as he took it, since she had been so swift, replied, "I be in the process o' findin' me dorm. I 'ave me no cell phone nor e-mail, but I be in the woods many a times and on the grounds. Actua'lly..."

He stood straighter as he looked into her chesnut eyes and gave her a nod. "If ye be wantin' ter come, then perhaps ye be wantin' to learn some 'f the tricks ye be needin'? 'ave ye e'er handled a sword? Searched fer herbs? Tracked? I be wantin' to talk ter ye more, but not 'ere."

Perhaps Ally would think him strange for not wanting to talk in a cafe where they knew no one, ut Atreyu was a wary pirate, and he thought that perhaps showing Ally the forest and talking to her more while there was a great idea. It wasn't a date or anything because of course Atreyu had no idea what those were, but he couldn't help wanting to continue discussion with an intelligent person.

((OOC: I'm going to be gone over the weekend soooo'z sorries?))

In the back of Ally's mind she was already considering the progression of notes as to what could embody the free movement of a ship on the water, perhaps a chorus that changed to a minor third to bring out the animals, and a major progression for the people... Her fingers drifted to the strings, her left hand circling the neck and dancing along the strings.

"I be in the process o' findin' me dorm. I 'ave me no cell phone nor e-mail, but I be in the woods many a times and on the grounds. Actua'lly..."

Arresting her wandering mind she looked at the ready to go traveler and blinked, "Hum?" Her fingers still moving, the tune had no shape, just some notes that followed one after the other..... maybe a rocking tune? Blinking - right - paying attention!

"If ye be wantin' ter come, then perhaps ye be wantin' to learn some 'f the tricks ye be needin'? 'ave ye e'er handled a sword? Searched fer herbs? Tracked? I be wantin' to talk ter ye more, but not 'ere."

Her fingers still at work she nodded at the boy, a broad smile growing across her face as she lived through her music, feeling something new springing from her fingers, "That would be cool - just lemme know!!" Can't fault a girl for her enthusiasm as the pull of one thing leaves her a little clueless at times - no one is perfect!

((OOC: No probs. I was too. X.x))

The young man watched as her fingers trailed along the guitar, smiling as a memory took him away from the cafe and toward the decking on his father's ship. He sat mesmerized as one of the crewman played his guitar, a long neck and a wide belly, more like a mandolin than an actual guitar. The vibrant strong string song was a pirate tune indeed, and one that had made Atreyu laugh at a young age and get up and dance.

"Right now be it a good time?" Atreyu asked, as he nodded toward the exit. The bustle of the cafe had died down and there were only a few students left at tables sipping on cocoa and tea, or munching on lemon loafs and reading text books for chemistry. His gaze, however, did not wander to these folk, but remained trained on Ally like a hunting hound to its prey. It was almost a hard look, worn from weather and pride, but not in the least mean or demanding.

"We be able best ter 'ead off while the sun be up," Atreyu suggested, shrugging. It made no different to him because he often camped out in the woods, but he had no idea what kind of agenda Ally might be on and whether or not the woman had any classes to attend to early in the morning.

Words tickled the back of her mind as she passively thought about a tune, a rather dreamy look captured on her expressive face... Wait - no wait - he was talking... Blinking a few times she realized that she had missed the first part of what he had been saying - silly girl!

"- good time? We be able best ter 'ead off while the sun be up," Atreyu shrugged, looking rather serious.

Silly girl - need to pay more attention!

"Um," was all that came out - ever so eloquently lacking anything to the conversation her fingers still worked of themselves, strumming nothing in particular now as the train of creative thought had been derailed and laid back on the tracks in a smoldering heap; she could resurrect it later, but the moment of composition was over.

Looking down at her bare feet, "Um, now?" she repeated yet again, a little densely. She wasn't an unintelligent girl by any means, just rather easily kidnapped by the creative train at times.

"Caaaan, can I get some shoes at least?" She said finally - pretty sure she had connected the dots well enough to know what she had missed... or at least she hoped so!
