Momoko stepped gingerly out of the changing room. She wore an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bakini, that fit her pretty well, actually. A blue towel was wrapped around her waist. For a moment, she just looked at the pool, you see, she never really went swimming before...but it was supposed to be easy once you learned right?

quietly, she made her way over to the shallow end of the large pool. She would be smart about this and just..stay where she was safe...

She slipped off her towel and folded it up and set it on the side of the pool. Then she looked over at the lifeguard. So far, it seemed it was just them for now.

But, that didn't really bother her, and she slipped into the water, her feet landing solidly on the bottom. Right, what was she supposed to do now?
Perhaps she should have thought this over first..

Momoko's guess had been wrong, for there was another person in the pool at this time of the day. Actually, she spend lots of time on the pool complex of the school. It was a great place to keep her model body in shape. Long legs, thin waist, graceful slender arms... All that came from a strict daily routine.

Patricia Winters was on her scheduled underwater swimming course when she heard/felt something coming into the water. Nowadays she was a far more careful person than she had been on her first times using the facilities, when she had caused an accident that had brought some misfortune to a friend of hers... so she halted in mid water and stood attentive for the time being.

A body submerged in the water and as the bubbles floated away, the papermaster's blue orbs met a girl that could easily pass for a junior high student... at most. The short girl was now standing in front of her with both eyes closed and apparently immobile. That was odd. This wasn't the deeper side of the pool but still the surface seemed kinda hard to reach for someone as small (and un-sporty, Patty had to admit) such as this lil one.

Coming slightly closer to the gal, the blond tried her best not to startle the girl but still call her attention by waving a hand in front of the girl's eyes with a face that, despite having the underwater goggles on, could easily be read as 'Are you ok?'.

Her being only 5 foot, and this being an olympic sized swimming pool, the surface was still above her head by...a couple feet..

Anyone who knew what was going on would surely call her insane, and even now she was questioning her own sanity. She let her body stay limp and her eyes stay close. She was testing her ability to hold her breath first of all.

But she suddenly became animated when she felt the water in front of her face move. she opened her eyes, to instinctively try to see, despite wearing no googles. When she realized this, she lowered herself and then jumped up, and it took the extra bit of her grabbing the side of the pool to hoist herself up to get her head out the water and into the clear. She took a deep breath and then looked down to see the person who had disturbed her.

Oops... was the first thing that crossed the blond's head as the other girl took notice of her and quickly rushed her way to the surface. Apparently the girl had not been drowning or anything that bad. A soft chuckle escaped as bubbles from her closed lips as she considered how silly had her been. Deciding to apologize, Patty headed for the surface.

As she emerged, she decided to show some guilt by not appearing completely out of the water. A mass of long golden hair was the first thing to come off the water, soon followed half a face. Only visible up to her nose, the blond smiled an underwater smile in apology that slowly became visible.

"I'm sorry."

She said as she removed the goggles from her eyes which held a very apologetic look on them.

Momoko watched as the girl shyly presented herself, her actions and body language clearly stating an apology.

But there really was nothing to apologize for. Momoko knew what it looked like..really, what would the image look liek to her? She only wished she had known there was somebody else in the pool as well. her powers of observation have laxed ever since she came here, and she began to wonder if it was something about this place that caused for this to happen.

"I'm sorry."

Momoko smiled and even giggled the girls worries away like the young pone that she appeared to be. 'you don't need to apologize. I know what it looked like, and my ways can be odd for others to see, I guess...."

She paused and waved to the lifeguard to let them knwo that she was ok.

"Hey, I'm Momoko Himura..what's your name?"

"You don't need to apologize. I know what it looked like, and my ways can be odd for others to see, I guess...."

Seeing the lil one chuckle away made Patricia feel at ease. Good, there was no harm done apparently. It would have been terrible if she had to go thru the same story from half a year ago. After a short silence, the girl waved at the lifeguard for some reason and the blond's expression changed to that of slight disgust.

"Never mind them... the staff here that is. They hardly even notice students are in this place and mostly come only for the clean-up stage..."

Yup... Patricia still resented them after all this time. Quickly shaking those dark memories off her mind, the blond returned to her ussual casual smile.

"Hey, I'm Momoko Himura.. What's your name?"

"The name's Patricia but girls here call me Patty."

She winked at the gal, trying to emphasize her introduction.

Now, being such a direct person just as she had always been... Patty couldn't help but ask what was the first thing that came to her mind.

"Say... you're from a local middle school?"

She wiped off some excess water falling from her hair as she asked that.

it had worked, the other girl seemed to ease up out of her wrries as momoko just blew off the concern and unfounded need for apology.

when she waved to the lifeguard, she caught the change in demeanor of the girl out of the corner of her eye, and she could swear to hear some resentment in her voice.

"Never mind them... the staff here that is. They hardly even notice students are in this place and mostly come only for the clean-up stage..."

Momoko curiously looked back at the girl..but decided that something must have happened..and for a lifeguard..what she said was pretty bad..

"The name's Patricia but girls here call me Patty."

Momoko smiled, "patty-san...nice to meet you then'

"Say... you're from a local middle school?"

Smiling, Momoko hoisted herself for the water and sat down on her towel, dangling her legs in the water. "Nope. I'm just short." she flashed Patty a grin. 'I'm actually 14...just starting high school."

Following the gal's example, she rose enough from the water to rest her crossed arms on the pool's ledge. After hearing the girl's reply to her question, Patricia couldn't help but poke out her tongue and make a new apologetic look that was pretty much more funny than the last one she had done. The hand closer to the girl waved a few times quickly.

"Oh! I'm sorry! Sorry!..."

After blinking a couple of times, she added.

"...Again."

Which was soon followed by a soft chuckle.

"I shouldn't be one to judge people by their looks. My roomie's about your size and we don't have a clue as to how old she is..."

There was a pause there... as if she had gone deep in thought about the matter just mentioned but quickly shook it off.

"14, huh? Nice age, new beginnings. So how has AHS treated you so far?"

Momoko was caught off guard by the expression of apologizing, and yet comedy.

"Oh! I'm sorry! Sorry!..."

After blinking a couple of times, she added.

"...Again."

but Momoko was laughing, which, she noticed, was joined by the other girl's chuckling. Usually, Momoko was quiet..but today seemed like a nice day and the girl was nice.

"I shouldn't be one to judge people by their looks. My roomie's about your size and we don't have a clue as to how old she is..."

Then the girl paused, and momoko allowed this time for thought on her part to be processed.

"14, huh? Nice age, new beginnings. So how has AHS treated you so far?"

Momoko smiled, a slight glitter to her eyes now that they've hit that topic. "I love it. ' she admitted with some sort of quiet excitment. "the people I've met are nice and for the most part treat me with respect even though they usually have powers much more usefull than my own"

"I love it. The people I've met are nice and for the most part treat me with respect even though they usually have powers much more useful than my own"

Patricia's own first days had been... to be plainly honest... terrible. A fateful encounter with who would turn to be her best friend... a masked metalized superhero... a psycho boy who turned on them... a blizzard... a hospital room. Wow... now that she could look back at that day... she surely had one hell of a start here at AHS.

As the girl mentioned the last part, related to her powers, Patty's face shifted to that of curiosity. She had always had deep interest on other people's special abilities, after all she had worked with metas and mutants for several years now.

"There no useless powers, mind you..."

Her voice's tone had shifted to that of a bigger sister, a voice she always used to comfort underclassmen she happened to find.

"... There's just scarce times to prove them."

Adding a wink at she ended that line, the blond added finally:

"And what power might that be, by the way?"

For a moment, momoko could see a look that she recognized from grandpa Seto..a look of reliving one's memories. She was quiet in order for her to do this, before she spoke up again.

"There no useless powers, mind you...... There's just scarce times to prove them."

"And what power might that be, by the way?"

"ah well...I didn't actually say they were useless, they've actually helped me out alot already...but other people's powers seem to just be more useful...as for what they are...um.."

she bluched a little. she wasn't quite used to discussing such things as powers with other people yet.

But her pupils widened and suddenly her vision changed. Instead of the normal human image, she now saw patty as a bunch of muscles. the first one.. I can see your muscles...like I would if you didn't have any skin.."

Wow...that sounded creepy.

"and the other one..I can 'record' moments of time and replay it over and over in my mind for a few minutes. I can also replay it in slow motion..I actually thought this was normal until I found out that it's actually concidered a 'power'"

She smiled, "so...what's yours?" she asked a little quiet..

Patty had asked...maybe she would tell her too?

"Ah well...I didn't actually say they were useless, they've actually helped me out a lot already...but other people's powers seem to just be more useful...as for what they are...um.."

The girl blushed slightly, hinting the blond that she was not used to this kind of chat. It had always been like this with most people she had met so far. Was she the only meta that acknowledged her powers so easily? Maybe so, but at least the girl seemed willing to show her them.

Momoko began staring at Patty and for a second she considered the possibility she would be set aflame or something similar. At least there was water nearby to deal some countermeasures given the first case. but then the girl explained...

"I can see your muscles...like I would if you didn't have any skin.."

Her blues opened to their max and she found herself out of words. That was quite an unique power... and a first to someone who had heard about A LOT of them. Arms and face... despite creepy, were surely fine, but Patty had to thank god she was still clinging from the pool's edge, for she wouldn't have someone seeing her skinless... on some other parts.

"And the other one..I can 'record' moments of time and replay it over and over in my mind for a few minutes. I can also replay it in slow motion..I actually thought this was normal until I found out that it's actually considered a 'power'"

That was the explanation of the little one's second power. It seemed like both had the same roots. Most meta had powers like that, it was rare for them to have differential power path... specially at such early stages.

Apparently done with her explanation, the girl smiled and asked her to reveal her true nature to her as well. It wasn't a hard task but it was not one Patricia could easily satisfy, right this moment at least.

"Well, I can't show you right now... Since my bag is next to that seat on the other edge of the pool..."

The blond pointed with a thumb in the general direction of the opposing end's left.

"But I can surely tell you. I'm what they call a Papermaster, a person who can manipulate paper in all its presentations at their wills. My specialty is building stuff..."

Maybe that was not such a good explanation, she thought to herself, so she added a bit more.

"Like... I can will the paper to take the shape of those seats and use them as any other regular seat..."

Of course she could do much more... but that could easily be called bragging... and doing so in front of a person that called her power not as useful as other's wouldn't be a good thing.

Momoko really didn't know how to take Patty's reaction to her explaining of her powers, especially the one which she reacted to the strongest, her ability to see people's muscles. But she wasn't swimming away or anything so, it couldn't be bad. Momoko now let her sight return to normal, her pupils shrinking down to normal size.

"Well, I can't show you right now... Since my bag is next to that seat on the other edge of the pool..." She saw her lifting a thumb indicating said bag. momoko nodded and was about to say she understood..perhaps it was a hard power to explain.

"But I can surely tell you. I'm what they call a Papermaster, a person who can manipulate paper in all its presentations at their wills. My specialty is building stuff..." ..or perhaps not. A papermaster, that sounded interesting. But the girl paused, looking like she was rethinking her words.

"Like... I can will the paper to take the shape of those seats and use them as any other regular seat..." Momoko nodded, imagining how being a paper master might be useful.

'ah..sugoi.." she muttered to herself. Truely, she was a newbie in the open meta-world and just about anything could impress her, like the child that she was so often mistaken for.

The girl's reaction was beyond cute and Patty couldn't hep but chuckle a bit. It felt nice having someone thinking of yor powers as incredible, one of the words sugoi could translate to. Yet she had to play some fake modesty, she didn't want the girl to think of her as all full of herself (tho he sometimes was)

"That's nothing."

She explained with a smile over her red lips.

"I've met people from entire different planes... That was one tough chick, I tell you. Tho if she heard me calling her chick, she'd probably kill me..."

And that was no exageration... since this girl she was reffering to belonged to a warrior race called Moonians. They were really something else when comparing them to regular humans at least.

"Just like her, there's some scary people in the school..."

She knew about some of them... and some really scary events from not many months pasts that involved about the entire school. Of course, the blond would rather that part... unwanting to scare the impressionable girl. Now that she thought about it... had this girl ran into any trouble yet? AHS was a prety scary place at times, hell she knew about it. But one couldn't forcefully ask such things on someone you had just met, right?

The least she could do was give the young one some reasurance for now.

"But if you run into anyone like that, just call Oneechan here, ok?"

Momoko nodded. She's already met someone who had inititally scared her, though he turned out....not as scary.

"But if you run into anyone like that, just call Oneechan here, ok?"

Momoko grinned at this. Truely a child to the outside world. Not to say that she was immature, she just had that innocent like quiality and since she was expeiencing the big outside world for the first time, was quite impressionable.

"so..how do I find you..if I need to?"

Nope, she did not object to the onee-chan comment at all. She actually thought it was kind of cool, for she never had any real sister.

"I'll give you my cell number in a bit... I'm... well... more like was now, heh, in the middle of my afternoon training. This body of mine doesn't stay fit on its own you know."

She kicked her feet a few times, hinting at what her triaining meant. As she came to a stop once more, she gave a quick wink at the junior. As her arms were already feeling a bit numb from being in the same place again, the blond pushes herself a bit in the water and began floating while stretching her arms.

She thought about inviting her new acquitance something on the nearby vending machines, but she considered both her own training and how long had the girl been in the pool. She had a set schedule from workout and thus had to try her best at fulfilling it despite her interest in her new friend.

But there was a way to wrap it all nicely.

"I'm gonna do a few more laps. Hmmm... You... Wanna go grab a drink or something afterwards? I can wait for you if you need me to."

She offered that with a smile on her lips while tossing a lock of her golden mane over her shoulder.

But her friend soon had that look of being in thought, before finally speaking again.

No stating clearly if she had accepted her offer or not, Patty wasn't sure of what her next move should be. But one thing was certain, Momoko had asked her to wait till she was done with the hot-water tub. The idea of hitting it too didn't feel bad... but it was off today's schedule, so it was something that would be put on hold for about two more days.

With the short girl now giving her back to the blond, Patricia simply hoped back into the water from where she was sitting. No graceful entry for her right now, she had a set number of laps to do around the pool before it got too dark. The cold water was no problem to her, thanks to her winter training at Britain which her body still seemed to remember apparently.

Once she finalized her countdown, the blond was too tired to hop from the water back to the edge so she used the ladders set not far from where she had left her aluminum case and duffel back. It was not until she picked her watch that she noticed that this had taken much more than she expected. She brought a finger to the chin.

"Hope I didn't miss her..."

That was unlikely, since the girl not seemed one to do such a thing.

Pulling out a large white fluffy towel, the papermaster began the long and painful task of drying her long golden hair as she took a seat on the bench her case was leaning on.

Once momoko reached the hottub, she was glad there was a clock on the wall that she could look at once in a while.

gratefully, she made her way to the warm water. she couldn't swim, but this was a really nice way to enjoy water anyways.

She allowed herself to soak, and even ducked underneath to fully cover herself with the warm bubbly water once in a while.

During her fun and relaxation, she had watched the clock pretty closely, and when she figured the girl might be done, and that she's relaxed enough by now, she stepped out of the water, grabbed her towel, wrapped it around her shoulders and walked out.

She was there a bit before having to go to the bathroom. When the other girl arrived, there was soon a flushing, and the sound of running water..and then Momoko had walked out, and looked right at Patty. she smiled. "How was your training?" she asked.

"Not bad... I just finished it..."

She shook her body's upper half a bit frantically laughing a little before adding.

"The hard part is getting this hair dry."

As Momoko came closer to where she was, the papermaster threw the towel around her neck and stood to her full 5'8 height. Her body was not curvy but still a fair view. Right now she wore a blue tankini with a yellow stripe across the left half. It seemed very professional, which it was. Patricia didn't take her training lightly.

After gathering her stuff into the aluminum case that always followed her, her blues fell on the new friend she had made this day.

"Are we ready?"

Her english tone made its first appearance with that line, tho the girl might have already guessed she was foreign.

"Not bad... I just finished it..."
Momoko smiled.

then noticed her shaking her upper half and then laughing. But she soon found out why..

"The hard part is getting this hair dry."

Momoko laughed a little bit, she herself never had a problem with her hair drying out, what with the way it was..

Momoko had noticed the tankini and enjoyed the thought of a swimsuit that wasn't all revealing. She had only seen the one she was given until recently. perhaps she could get the money up for another one or something..

But now she had changed into a white summer dress looking thing with a pleated bottom and a blue flower design that started at the lower left corner of the skirt and spread out and up from there. It really was quite pretty..even though she still stuck to her style and wore sandles and tabi with it. Her stuff was a small bag.

"Are we ready?"

Now Momoko grinned and nodded, "Yes..I am ready. Where do we go?"

The sun still shone over their heads, and it seemed like a good moment to have something cool.

"There's this vending machine on the way."

The blond smiled to her junior and began leading the way out of the complex. It was a short walk to the vending machine, but it was still a long way to any other of the faculty buildings... Was the blond going to walk all the way with her swimming suit? Apparently, she yes. After all, Patricia A Winters was damned proud of her sporty body.

Since distances shorten when you talk, the blond turned casually to her companion.

"Where you from, Momoko?"

"There's this vending machine on the way."

Momoko nodded and said 'Ok'

Momoko had already been intruduced to the wonders of a vending machine, still she enjoyed it somewhat, unable to just take it for granted like most people.

The sun warmed her and she could feel her hair slowly dry out as it's warm rays and the gently blowing wind workd on it, and since it was short and straight like it was, there was little chance of snarls happening soley because of this.

She envied her new friend in a way, she was taller and had a good body, one that she could show off without being self concious. And why not? She trained it pretty good, it seemed to Momoko.

Maybe she should train training herself now that grandpa Seto wasn't around to watch over her..

It was in this train of thought that her friend began to speak.

"Where you from, Momoko?"

"On the outskirts of a small town" she said with a small smile. It was home afterall. "I lived there with my adoptive grandpa, Seto."

"Adoptive grampa?"

Patricia blinked a couple of times and just couldn't help but let her curiosity run about the matter. Still the girl hadn't really spoke much about it, so maybe Momoko wasn't very comfortable speaking about it, specially to someone she had just met.

Before she had noticed that she had done it, she had asked what next came to her mind.

"And your parents...?"

The blond had certain parental-issues... that was why she couldn't help herself. Maybe she was looking if this junior had something else in common with her... or maybe she was just curious about other people's relationships with their families.

"Adoptive grampa?"

She nodded.

Momoko really had no problem talking about her circumstance.she also was expecting the question about her parents, since practicly everyone asked when she told them about Grandpa Seto. So she just waited for the girl's curiosity to form the questions.

"And your parents...?"

Ah..there it was. She even left it an open question.

"Don't really know about them. All I know is that they either could weave baskets..or hired a basket weaver" she said glancing up at the sky as if in thought. Then she looked back at her friend with a slight smile. "Grandpa Seto said he found me in a basket in the small stream that runs near our home."

It seemed like Patty had really poked her nose where she didn't need to. Having a harsh relationship with one's parents wasn't something out of the world, but this girl's story had really caught the blond off guard. Yet Momoko managed to pull a small smile on her lips. That little one was stronger than she seemed.

It took the blond a couple of seconds to come up with something to lighten the mood that had suddenly turned heavy.

"A-anyways, who needs parents, right?"

She had stuttered a little, but she got over it quickly enough. The best thing to get over this shadowy subject was to try to laugh things off.

"You've got your grampa, I've got..."

Sorrowfully, it hadn't come out any good at all. The missing word there was her tutor's name, but the woman was AWOL ever since she had started at school. Despite reminding herself of such a thing was kinda painful, it didn't show on her voice or in her face. Finally she somehow managed to laugh it off, probably thinking about how silly she had been just then, before continuing.

"Nevermind.... What counts it's that you've got your grampa."

She nodded, more to herself in assurance than in agreement to her statement. Patty's blue orbs fell on the little shack housing the two vending machines she had mentioned earlier, before the girl by her side could ask or say anything about the matter. Lucky her.

Her walking sped up a little and she arrived to the machines first. There she paused and took a hand to her glasses to gently push them up her nose.

"So what would it be?"

Letting go of her case's handle, the girl offered both machines with wide arms, the way a tv-show girl would do. Behind her right arm was a cool and hot drink vendor. Its choices were arranged from the most expensive on the top all the way to the bottom where the cheapest ones were shown. Juices, flavored milk boxes and even coffee were among what both girls could choose. Behind the opposing arm was a food supplier. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just sandwiches of several kinds and a few snacks.

"My treat, of course."

"A-anyways, who needs parents, right?"

"hmm?' momoko looked up at her. This girl was trying to lighten things up, perhaps they had gotten into a deep conversation. maybe a little too deep for just new friends. Still..she did wish she at least knew who they were..She'd take hating them over not knowing anything..

"You've got your grampa, I've got..."

It didn't take a genious, or so momoko hoped, to understand it definately WAS NOT the right topic for today. it didn't need to show in her voice or on her face..it was there, the way that she stopped abruptly and laughed it off without finishing it.

"Nevermind.... What counts it's that you've got your grampa."

The girl nodded, then ran on ahead to the vending machines which came in view. It..was probably best to let it go at this point. She might be able to ask later...

"So what would it be?"

Momoko stopped after having caught up and everything that troubled ehr mind a moment ago about her new friend erased for the moment. She walked over and examined the two marvelous machines, trying to make up her mind.

"My treat, of course."

Momoko glanced back at her "I must remember this dept.." she smiled sort of teasingly, but she was really serious. It was something taught to her, to mind and remember her depts. ..Not to mention paying them off.

In the end, she chose a cup of hot tea, a small box of chocolate dipped pocky, and one of those prepackaged onigiri.

With both girls now facing the vending machines, Patty was glad that the subject had been left at that, there was no need to somber new friendships with deep life issues. Maybe there would be another occasion to do that in the not far future. As the blond considered when would be a nice moment to meet again, letting go of the heavy subjects from a second ago, Momoko brought about the money issue: Instinctively, Patricia quickly shook her head.

"No need."

She said as she pressed the button for the same chocolate treat the small one had chosen. Pockys were one of the best things Japan had invented, at least according to Patricia.

"I get more than enough for me monthly, even if you count those two freeloaders in my room."

Her drink of choice was a soy&fruit cold canned mix. It was a healthy option and pretty much a top-of-mind for the young papermaster. Finally, she pressed the button for a ham and cheese triple decked sandwich. Not very japan-esk but, well, she was British after all.

"No need."

But once Momoko had it in her mind that she owed you a dept..it was pretty much mission impossible for you to get her to forget about it, and she had already said that she would remember today. So, there. Not that she told Patty about this, just seeming to shrug it off.

"I get more than enough for me monthly, even if you count those two freeloaders in my room."

Momoko sat down with her stuff once Patty had gotten them for her, and began opening the onigiri. As soon as she had gotten it out, she took a bite off of the top.

'How? A job?" she asked.

While waiting for her answer, Momoko glanced over her friend's choice of snack. truely, she was a foreiner, but that was ok..Momoko didn't judge people like that, in fact she found it rather interesting.

After taking a seat on the benches located by the shack's left, both girls turned to their meals. After hearing Momoko's question, the blond turned her eyes to the sky for a little before turning to the girl and answering.

"I guess you can call it that..."

She took a sip from her drink and began explaining.

"You can say I'm a trainee. The people that take care of me usually hire people with talents like ours. These for-hires do all sorts of jobs, mostly related to old books and similar objects, like scrolls. Right now I'm here to train myself since I was alone there... I was the only teen there for a year or so."

She took a second sip from her can and then smiled.

"So they pay my tutoring here at AHS, as well as living expenses, and in exchange I'll someday fight for them when they consider I'm ready."

Momoko absent mindedly ate her onigiri as the girl spoke.

She took the last bite now and reached over for a sip of her tea. " that sounds.. really cool" she said, visably excited. though she didn't plan on applying anytime soon.. the only thing real useful about her was her martial arts skills, and even then they could find someone better if they needed one of those.

"I should find a job.." she muttered quietly.."though...I'm 14..and look even younger.."

...it wasn't something that got her down, but it put her into thinking, and it seemed to be a bit of a challenge for her. What could she possibly do to get money?

Seeing the gal sulk, the only thing Patricia could think of was to try and cheer her up.

"Hey I bet that if I talk to that clown I've got for a boss, maybe he could give you a job."

Tho she had her doubts about it, on a second thought. After all Momoko wasn't especially sporty... or evidently strong. Maybe she could do jobs of other sorts, there should be something she could do. Inspecting the girl from head to toe, with the last of her soy&fruit mix can still over her lips, Patty thought of something.

"Well... you could do some less dangerous job. I've seen some signs in town asking for part-timers. being a waitress doesn't sound that..."

Her friend, wearing the typical waitress cosplay, appeared in the blond's mind. Patty's eyes bolted open and she just couldn't resist to laugh loudly at the image. As her laughter subsided, Patricia gave a one eyed glance at the little one.

"I'm sorry... but... It's just that it would definitely suit you"

She said between small chuckles.

Momoko was in the middle of thinking, when Patty spoke.

"Hey I bet that if I talk to that clown I've got for a boss, maybe he could give you a job."

Instantly, she giggled and waved the thought off. "No thank you"

"Well... you could do some less dangerous job. I've seen some signs in town asking for part-timers. being a waitress doesn't sound that..."

dangerous..

Momoko noted. So, it was a dangerous job that her new Onee-chan was training to be part of.
But also..she brought up Momoko being a waitress. Then the next thing she knew, her friend was laughing quite loudly. Momoko stopped mid-sip because of this. Even as the laughing subsides into more quiet chuckles, momoko felt like she was left out of the girl's inner joke..

"I'm sorry... but... It's just that it would definitely suit you"

Momoko blinked and set down the cup of tea. "and..how is that funny?" she asked with innocent confusion.

"Just think about it! You'd be dangerously cute in that get-up, Momo."

There were two things to notice with this sentence. First was the stress on the word cute. Patricia really meant it and she knew a couple of really cute quiet moe-types by now. The second was Patricia's legendary pet-naming skills that apparently had finally come to life once the girls' conversation had lighten up enough.

"Cuteness brings in costumers, so you might as well charge an extra fee while at it."

She finished that with a smile and a wink at Momoko.

Momoko blinked. "eh..? Peach? - oh" she said, giggling at her new nickname..and blushing because patty said that she was cute, and in such a way that could not keep the blush at bay.

"Cuteness brings in costumers, so you might as well charge an extra fee while at it."

Patty winked at her after saying this. Poor little momoko's blush was pretty evident by then. "Oh no! I couldn't scam them out of money like that..what ever they choose the pay me would be enough, I'm sure."
Yup. Modest, and moral. Polite. Quiet, for the most part. Momoko wasn't going to be the one to charge the owners extra just because she was cute.

Seeing that reaction brought a face that could only be compared to that of the smiling cat of Cheshire. Shut eyes and a wide grin on her red lips.

"Cute and modest. You're just like those characters from some light-novels I've read. That cute expression of yours... pure gold. You're right... you shouldn't charge extra for it.. they should pay you more just from looking at you, girl."

Now she was just teasing her out of seeing how a single comment turned the girl to such tones of red.

"I bet..."

"Patricia-sama?"

A voice interrupted the girl's comment, on to whom Patricia turned with anger suddenly filling her face. She was not very happy about being interrupted, being as showy as she was. Only once she had processed the voice did she turned back to normal.

"What are you doing out here of all places, Gamma?"

The shieldbearer had appeared from the other side of the shack and she had spoken from behind the machines. Justr now did she approached the pair properly. The voice belonged to a plain looking girl with no curves overall, an expressionless small face and pale skin. It looked like the exact opposite of Patricia, someone athletic with a nice colored skin and emotive personality. Probably the only outstanding feature on this new girl was the short-gray hair that covered her head in a very boyish way.

"It's late. Cat has yet to eat."

"It's not Cat, It's Fenn and be careful to remember he was there before you."

"Fenn."

The newcomer had replied with no emotion at all but her eyes did wander to the girl sitting besides her roomie. Patricia left the now empty can on the bench and motioned to the little one with a hand.

"Oh right. This here is Momo. She's a friend I met on the pool."

Pushing her glasses up her nose, the blond then motioned to the standing girl on a similar way.

"Remember I mentioned 2 freeloaders? Gamma here is one of them. She's got her ways, but you'll learn she's a nice person. Honest just like you."

"Greetings"

Came a voice like that of a message recorder.

Momoko kept her head down, sipping at her tea, her cheeks like little roses painted on her face. Oh if only she would switch the topic, still, maybe she could get a job being a waitresss.

"I bet..."

"Patricia-sama?"

Momoko looked up at the new voice, just in time to see patricia's change in demeanor, twice. She made a quiet note to herself that her new onee-san did not like to be interupted.

"What are you doing out here of all places, Gamma?"

The girl which came into view was kind of like momoko, not very athletic looking and cute. Though, momoko would bet that she'd look cuter with just slightly longer hair even.

"It's late. Cat has yet to eat."

"It's not Cat, It's Fenn and be careful to remember he was there before you."

"Fenn."

Momoko was watching this new girl, observing her.. she noticed something too, she did not appear to show any emotion, something which made reading her difficult, especially since it was already a difficult task for Momoko. Now the new girl was looking at Momoko. She smiled a silent greeting.

"Oh right. This here is Momo. She's a friend I met on the pool."

it seemed that patty was going to properly introduce them. And now she turned to Momoko.

"Remember I mentioned 2 freeloaders? Gamma here is one of them. She's got her ways, but you'll learn she's a nice person. Honest just like you."

Momoko nodded slightly before turning her curious gaze back on the girl.

"Greetings"

...ok..if this was an anime, Momoko would have sweatdropped. But trusting that she "had her ways, but was nice" , and to not appear rude...she still had to complete this introduction. "Hello, Gamma. It's nice to meet you"

And it was nice, Mommoko making a silent sunconcious note to learn more about this new girl and 'her ways".

Patricia couldn't put her finger on it, but apparently Momoko was somewhat uncomfortable around the emotionless girl, or at least seemed like it for a second or two. Whilst Gamma didn't seem to notice anything at all.

With pleasantries pretty much done about, as well as most of the light meal she had just had, the blond pondered on her options. Holding a pocky with her lips, like one of those long cigarette holders from the 50's, the girl stood silent for a little. All the while, Gamma had come closer to the pair and by now was 'studying' the short girl. It would seem as if she had some sort of vision powers, just like Momoko's, due to her staring... but that was far from being true.

Gamma's curiosity was beyond that of any regular girl, not to say person, despite it was hardly shown on her face. Once she took notice of it, Patty had to correct that.

"I've told you it's bad manners to stare intently at others, Gamma."

The girl, as if brought back from some trance, immediately turned on her heels to face her roomie.

"I'm sorry."

Despite those were the correct words, they just didn't seem correct with that robotic tone of hers.

"Anyways... Momo, you want to hang out with your Onee-chan some more? You want to come to our dorm?"

This had been what she had been pondering for the little she had remained silent. Deciding there was nothing to lose by offering, she had finally asked.

Momoko had turned to look at Patty, because she was being quiet. She seemed in thought over something, so momoko would leave her to it. The thought of gamma lazily poked in..and when she looked in her direction, she noticed she was quite closer, and staring at her. She blinked and then watched the girl in return. Once, she had thought that maybe the girl had powers simular to hers..

"I've told you it's bad manners to stare intently at others, Gamma."

- but apparently not.

"I'm sorry."

'it's ok' she responded quietly and with a smile. This was also one of her ways, if they say they are sorry for something small, like staring at you, go ahead and forgive them.

"Anyways... Momo, you want to hang out with your Onee-chan some more? You want to come to our dorm?"

Momoko looked over at Patty and nodded, "sure" she smiled.
Besides, it would be good to know the people who hung around her Onee-chan. Then she took a big drink of her tea, leaving the box of pocky unopened, for later.
