On one side, the flat of the ground was colored red and green in a very elegant gradient. On the distance, the cliff of a mountain with over a dozen thick looking trees surrounding the peaks. On the opposing edge, a rustic encampment set over a yellowish grassy area. There were two huts with chimneys that let out a thin smoke trace thru the air. The ground between both mentioned areas had patches of burnt earth and several blood trails. The advance guard from the soldier camp had consisted in a couple of dozens of several type of soldiers, but now all that remained were two spear wielding men and one tough-looking axe-man with a shiny pendant hanging from his neck by a chain. Their armor was pale white, like bones from some unidentified animal. In front of them, the ground shook under the paws of a beast four times the size of the pikemen. Its jaws laid open and his vicious razorsharp teeth were showing. This saurian creature was the sole survivor from an entire pack of creatures that shared the same master. It would seem as the beast had finally met its doom but it didn't flinch, as if it knew something would happen... and it did. The clear looking sky suddenly filled with menacing red clouds. The soldiers rose their heads in awe and only noticed too late what would happen. Fire fell from the sky... it was a star storm. The trio of men tried their best to avoid the falling pieces of doom, but they already knew it was not something they could do. They weren't prepared for such a thing. The weather had played a bad hand on them... or maybe it was the hand of someone else. They would never know... for it only took three hits of the falling fiery debris to take on each of them. On the opposing end of the set, the beast remained standing. It had taken damage as well, since some of its flesh had now turned to coal. But the storm had not had enough strength to take it down. With no one to stop it now, the ravenous beast was free to wreak havoc on remaining shelters and their inhabitants. It was over, for the soldiers at least. === The roar of the crowd didn't had to wait. The arena-like setting was surrounded by many spectators that had gone wild with each swing and blow from each party involved in the recent combat. "Dammit..." Muttered one of the two boys sitting on the table where the scenery of the battle was slowly fading away. In front of him sat another youth, with his thick black hair hanging in front of his eyes, covering his glasses partially. What had just happened a little ago was an after class match that had been set the day before. The game was a very well known one, despite being originally American. This was a nice way to enhance the card game he enjoyed so much. And despite he didn't show it that clearly, he enjoyed the people gathering around him and having fun thanks to his powers. Some of them even came close and congratulated him for his deeds, to what he just nodded in response. Out of the crowd, one started calling out towards the rest of the cafeteria. "Anyone else got a MTG deck here? Doesn't matter if you're good or bad... You haven't played MTG until you have played against this dude!" It wasn't the first time he was asked to do this just for the kicks of it, but Regi didn't seem to mind it at all. So the young imager just waited patiently for anyone else to come. It was after classes after all, so many people were still enjoying a late lunch or an early dinner. And besides changing form his uniform... he had little else to do back at his dorm due to some server maintenance from his current MMORPG. |

Danielle had walked into the cafeteria when her ears immediately perked up at what she heard. She found the crowd easily enough and waded through the sea of bodies, her small frame making her rather unnoticeable right until the moment she reached the table. "I play," she said. Most of the boys in the crowd gaped, believing the female gamer to be a myth but here she was. She swung dropped her bag in front of the table, took the seat the loser had just vacated and then looked at Regi. "Type one or type two?" she asked, as she reached to open her bag. The crowd unknowingly made way for the short new challenger, most of just giving enough room to the others and themselves to confirm that it was actually a girl that was making her way into the makeshift arena. "I play" She confirmed her intentions and identity with that melodic voice only her gender could have. Reginaldo didn't actually flinch like most of the present but this was actually kinda awkward for him, for he had dueled online with some girls but he had never actually had one face to face. Given his shy nature, his gaze was already lost somewhere on the ground by the boys to his right. "Type one or type two?" No actual response came from the imager. As the people present became uncomfortable with the sudden silence, the same guy that had given out the call for other players popped by the foreigner's side. "We're doing some casual friendly matches with tribal themed decks." He explained. "It's not the regular format, but something this guy implemented as he played the first time. We've just been following along. It's simple, as long as you have most of your deck filled with a single creature type, you're more than welcome to join in." Regi, on the other hand, kept staring at the ground while shuffling back and forth his deck. The way he did it hinted quite some experience at the game. Occasionally he would shift his eyes to look at the girl but once she found his, he'd quickly turn away. The peculiar reddened shade of his ears was already visible, but still unnoticeable by many of the present, who kept staring at the girl. "So you in?" Asked the makeshift referee of the match. "Some guys would surely lend you cards if you're not good..." Despite his seemingly lack of interest in their conversation, the black haired player cleared his throat and the boy standing by his side quickly added something else while confirming Zambrano's reaction to each word. "... or maybe... we can... change... to a more... suitable format?" The imager gave one final nod but kept his olive eyes stuck to the ground. Edited by katzkat1083, Mar 24 2009, 03:08 PM.

Danielle ignored the reaction. She was somewhat used to it and found that the best thing really was just to ignore how awkward they felt around her--besides it meant they made more mistakes along the way. She frowned. "I don't really have a Tribal deck," she said. "The closest I have is my Bant deck although there's a lot of cards from Llorwyn there too," she said. She rummaged through her bag, checking the assorted deck boxes inside. "Other than that...well...I do have a couple of weird extended decks...nothing tribal however...I knew I shouldn't have dismantled that elemental deck," she said. She nodded when a change in theme was suggested. "Yes, please," she said. |

Hearing the mentioning of such decks, the imager measured his options while remaining quiet and his eyes now focused on his deck. Apparently he would have to deal with things personally on this matter... since there was no psychic on the gathered students... or if there was, he didn't know. "Let's do this..." He began, but he still didn't dare see the girl in the eyes. It was not that he was unconfortable with her being a female player... it was just with her being a female for a start. "You can go with anything you like as long as its not any sort of control. You know: blue-black, mono black, mono-blue. Of course I am prepared to deal with such things, but it'd be boring for other people other than us. And since it's just matches for the fun of it... I'd apreciate we keep it like that." Cutting his deck in two and shuffling in back together, he thought of what to say next. "I guess you could use that Bant, you mentioned. I have no cards past kamigawa block in this deck... and some are from blocks probably before you started playing. Invasion and the like. I think nothing from before that..." Finally setting his deck on the table, he slid it midway across it. This was the casual offering for the opponent to cut it just before starting a match. "...so?" He ended with a simple short question in that slow soft voice of his while his eyes stared directly at the deck he was offering. |

"Bant it is. It's blue-white with a splash of green but it's not really a control deck," she said, as she removed the deck from its container. She shuffled the cards and then brought it forward to let him cut it. "So how do we determine turn order?" she asked, as she left the shuffled deck on one side. "Coin toss?" |

The youth waved a hand fisted hand over the table for a couple fo seconds before releasing a green 20-side dice, the kind that comes along with that huge pack of merchandizing rubbish, which, after a soft 'tack' sound, spun on itself for a little bit. As the little thing came to a stop, it revealed the number... "12" Regi told his result and then offered the dice with a wave of the hand while with the other he took hold of the deck. After takign it closer to him, he cutted it in three uneven parts and placed the middle one over the top. Before giving it back, he took a single card from the top and placed it on the bottom of the deck. Someone in the crowd chuckled as someone else said the word "Pikete". It was a term the foreigner had brought along with him and had no real meaning in any of the three languages he spoke. "Higher throw picks." He finally said. Danielle picked up the d20. She shook it around in her hands and rolled, watching as it slowed, hovered over twent to taunt her and then landed at four. "Bother," she said. "Your pick then." She had already began rummaging through her bag again for her dice. She had a much nicer pack of seven--clearly an expensive set of gaming dice. She wasn't just a Magic player, she also did tabletop roleplays too it seemed. |

Drawing his seven, the imager for the first time turned his olive eyes to those of his opponent and nodded. The cards seemed good enough for a fast attack. Expecting a similar mimic from the girl in front of him, which didn't take long to come, now everything was ready for the match to start and this was when the real show would begin. The table turned into an empty gray canvas. This would be the place where everything would develop from there on. === ((OOC: Feel free to post using Regi's power. Just make your lifepoints what you think suits the best the deck.)) === The nothingness of the southern half of the field soon took a greenish tone and where there had been nothing, a single large pole appeared in the middle of the southern-most border. From this pole, 20 pieces of thick meat, probably belonging to some unknown animal or beast were hanging. === "Lifepoints..." A single word explanation, very Regi-like. === Soon there was a second object on the map. A tree, several times smaller than the pole. Along with this tree a single figure appeared from behind it, an elf. It wore noticeable tattoos on his head which lacked hair on most of it but the top, giving it some sort of indian look. The elf held a thin spear in hand, with two red feathers pointing upwards together with the sharp-looking blade. A small sword hung from its rope-vine belt. Despite having these two weapons, the creature didn't look very fight capable, at all. Nothing much seemed to be happening for the time being, so the elf took a defensive stance right in front of the pole. |

"Okay. Draw," Dani said, as her turn began. She mulled over her cards and chose her play. "Plains..." Her edge of the map turned into a sprawling grassland. Two figures appeared from the horizon. A woman who look much like Dani, wearing a robe of white and blue and holding a staff with a banner depicting the symbol for white mana. It made sense that since Regi was conscious of the fact that he was fighting a girl, her life points would reflect that. Her HP would be determined by the quality of the banner she held. Beside her was a soldier. He looked young and unseasoned. He was bringing a pile of spears, which he planted down on the ground one by one. He didn't really look like he was good in a fight but the spears were another thing entirely, as they glowed with power. |

The scenery shifted on the southern side. The elf druid and the tree now were standing in the middle of a ravaged wasteland. It seemed like the remains of an forsaken small city. Large buildings stood in shambles of their former selves, huge cracks and gaps on their walls and ceilings. Some even seemed had only a few pillars remaining. The view could only be summarized as the stomping playgrounds for some of the large creatures. Along with the destruction of the battlefield, two pieces of the meat hanging from the pole seemed to have been consumed. Besides the little background shifting, little else had happened on the battle itself. The elf took a defensive stance once more but was taken aback by some sudden light and heat by his right. A small patch of lush trees had somehow caught fire. The elf witnessed this and despite his body urged him to move, to flee in the opposing direction of the field, he stood his ground for the time being. |

The sprawling plains lengthened, as road revealed itself and a knight mounted on a huge lion appeared. He moved with speed and an aura of command, as he pointed towards the enemy. The soldier saw this as command. He chose and hefted one of the spears, testing its weight before rushing forward, the spear glowing with arcane might, as he screamed defiance under the watchful knight's eyes. |

The incoming spearman approached with defying steps at the elf who remained standing, probably trembling, but firm on his ground. Not before the attack, the young soldier threw his spear in hand and it flew just about the elf's head. It stuck to the pole holding the meat, from where 3 pieces were now missing. As the man returned to his position by the knight's side, the elf stood to his full height. Once more the landscape before the druid shifted. Now a rocky mountain peak was visible thru the canopy of the tress and the ruins of the city. A portion of an old unknown religious chapel fell to the ground as heavy thundering steps echoed hard in the remaining ruins. Rushing from its lair, in this ravaged playground, came out a vicious looking beast. Its head was thinner than the rest of its body with two large fangs sprouting from the lower jaw and limbs like those of an oversized bird. Its hide shone with the living green color of its scales but there was something else about them that would catch an expert's eye. Its scales were shedding, it didn't seem like the creature would last long. But at the same time, it meant that this shedding would cover it from any indirect attack. By its size, five times that of the elf that it almost trampled over, anyone could easily say it was responsible for the destruction all over the place. With the reflection of the fires consuming its turf before its eyes, the giant lizard felt the surge of anger push it into attacking those it had before it... and so it rushed to meet the knight and the woman. |

Hikari Nagisa, former eccentric magical girl was wandering the cafeteria to find for a place to sit down and consume her lunch. She walked alone in the crowds of people, taking small quiet steps as she looked straight ahead and walked around and around, looking for a proper place to sit. As she was wandering around, her eyes laid upon this pair that seemed to be playing some sort of card game with moving images on top of the cards, as if the contents of the cards were alive and fighting. Of course, being Hikari, the moving soldiers and such sparked absolutely no interest in her. She walked up to the side of the table and bent down, lowing herself without bending over, her tray being held in one hand as her other hand reached for a card that seemed to have dropped carelessly onto the floor. She stood up straight once more and placed the white card onto the table, right in the center of the battle and turned away, walking away from their magic the gathering game just as a bright sphere of light descended from the sky and immediately wiped out all the soldiers in creatures in a epic and dramatic fashion. Hikari continued walking on in the cafeteria, looking for her seat as she just laid waste to their magic game, not realizing what she did nor caring. |

The mainly male crowd gathered around the table once more unknowingly made way for that odd female counter part they hardly ever get to know of. This time it was a girl way less intimidating than the first that had appeared, but still there was this off thing about her. Not that most of the card players present actually knew anything about girls, mind you. Distracted in the middle of his attack animation, Reginaldo was not one to take notice of the approaching girl, not even when she bent over by his side and picked a card from the floor. It was only when his powers set off a gigantic white explosion which could only be THAT staple white card. The world, the battlefield, was now gone. The only things standing where the large backgrounds on either side, the flag-wielder woman and the wooden food stand. It took Reginaldo a couple of seconds to react to what had happened. It was odd when his powers went wild like that, and very rare to be honest. After two or three blinks, his mind finally cleared. "It's two turns early." That was the explanation to why he had set the blast off. He had actually expected the card to be played, even in an aggro deck, as long as it had white. Who had brought this thing into play, he ignored. But what mattered now were two things. Placing a fingertip over the foreign card, he moved it to the center of the field. It wasn't protected by any of his favored sleeves, so Regi knew it wasn't his. Not to mention he didn't play that color much, for nto to say at all. His olive orbs fell, if even shortly, on Dani. He had to ask, out of courtesy. "Is it yours?" The girl had mentioned possessing several decks, so might as well belong to any and had accidentally come out of her bag while fumbling with it. It could be from anyone from the crowd as well, for there were many white mages among the present. The second thing to be addressed now was something he probably knew the answer to already, but then again he had been taught the polite way. His eyes once more were averting the girl. "Sorry. Mi error. I can make everything back to what it was unless you think otherwise." |

The woman fended off the attack but barely. When the beast had returned to its territory, the banner had taken damage, its fabric clawed and damaged. Then Kari appeared and nuked everything. Dani blinked. "Well...that was interesting," she said. She turned to see if the person who had unleashed god's wrath was still around but she had already disappeared from view. "Meh..." She leaned in to look at the card. "Not any of my sleeves," she said. "They're all like the one I'm using now." He shook his head. "Someone really unlucky must have dropped it." She dropped her hand face down on the table and stretched. "It would probably be a good idea to just change it back." She took the offending card and set in on one side, away from the battlefield and began her turn. "Island," part of the plains gave way to water, as the ocean suddenly appeared and claimed land. In the middle of it was an island citadel, its towers and gargoyles spraying water on all sides. The white mage that held the banner stretched out her free hand. Energy began to form around it, coalescing into a clear shape. When she had done, she dropped the object, a large warhammer crackling with arcane energy. With the beast recovering from its wounds, the knight readied to counterattack. The soldier gave the knight a steel tipped lance and it charged, bringing its might to bear against the opposing army. The elf druid looked at the mighty knight in white armor ride wˇaspt him and strike with the added strength of his momentum at the food supplies on his side of the field. Four of the stocky meat pieces fell from their resting places on the stack. As the beast readied itself for the next strike, the beating of a pulse echoed in the background. The pulse came from a large parasitic organism. It had taken a newly appeared tree in the field as a host. It was a nest, a living nest, of some of the smallest and ussually harmless lifeforms on this world. Jus like the beast that had previously appeared, it seemed to be slowly disappearing into nothing. This came more obvious as somethign came out of it. Unlike what everyone else would think, what came from it wasn't small nor seemed less dangerous than the beast galloping anxiously on the same place. Three gargantuan saprolings squirmed away from their nest and began heading to the opposing forces. The beast started soon after them. Edited by katzkat1083, Apr 5 2009, 04:52 PM.

Dani grimaced as the attack came. She muttered the word 'green' dourly and sighed. Okay...I have fifteen life. The druid's tapped and so is his mana... She looked at the creatures. Seventeen damage all in all. Nineteen if the enchantment was sacrificed. She had no choice. The soldier heaved a spear and then looked at the coming attackers. He charged, running towards them in what was surely a suicidal attack. He jumped over the saproling and then struck at the beast. There was nothing the soldier could do however. He was trampled to death but not without injuring the beast, leaving it incapable of joining the main fray. "Are you going to sacrifice the enchantment?" Dani asked with a grimace. The soldier stuck his spear into the beast's neck, halting it from joining the rest of the summoned earth crawlers. The attack had not struck hard enough thru its hides, only enraging it even more. The blastoderm rose to its full height on its hind legs and then pummeled at the ground with its large bird-like limbs. With the force of the impact, the pikeman was knocked off the ground. While still flying in mid air, he found its doom in the dozens of teeth in that beast's jaws. Not willing to eat it properly, the beast swung the carcass only to later throw it back to the ground near where its commanding knight stood staring at the one sided battle. === Despite the violence of the attack, there was no blood. Maybe Regi had heard her mutter his color preference with such dismay that he had opted to show off a little, to the audience of course, who didn't wait long before going wild on the display they had just seen. Yet he kept in mind his duel was against a lady, so he kept gore to the minimum, but that was just a maybe. === The three remaining creatures, parasitic earth crawlers kept their march to the flag bearer and at the same time hoped off the ground to tackle at the woman, whose banner became little more than rags for the time being. The crest was barely recognizable... and the woman herself seemed to be on the verge of fainting from her own wounds. === With her opponent to 3 life, 1 creature and that stupid warhammer in play, why would he dare to sacrifice his only trump card? Both the beast and the parasites would not last for long. For once, Regi turned to look straight at Dani in the eyes. "Why? You can't attack me with the hammer since you need to clear my field. Ahora, If you hadn't played the hammer..." Trailing off after that, the gamer youth returned his eyes back to the regrouping forces on his edge of the battlefield. Dani shrugged. "We'll just see what happens," she said. Her turn began. She scowled. Things weren't really going well for her and she knew it. She draw a card and then grinned. "Well...this should be interesting," she said. "Plains," she said, putting the fourth land into play. Then the knight walked to the banner bearer's side and heaved the might hammer with one hand. It just stood there in wait. Now I just have to survive one turn, she thought. She looked up at Regi, smirking. "Your turn." |

The lizardian beast slowly faded out wo a point where it was almost invisible now. It still pushed and heaved against the earthly crawlers, that had somewhat shrunk in size after their last attack, meaning it could still deal some punches. The green army prepared itself for what seemed like the final attack, with the elf druid herding the brutes together and straight to the enemy ranks. The field enlarged itself once more. In the distance, some cliffs formed out of the edge of the majestic mountain. === Reginaldo felt like muttering something around the lines of 'Any last wish?', and he would have done so, if not for the fact it was a girl he was dueling with. === With preparations complete, the elf released the vine leashes with which he held the army of uneven creatures in place. Free of their constrictions and with the reflection of the fires in their eyes, they set straight at the knight and his mistress. |

Danielle tapped the last remaining plain and light appeared overhead. The white blinding light shone from the sword in hand of the flag bearer and soon the green brutes halted to a stop and growled and shook violently their head as the light injured their eyes. The elf druid was slightly safe from the light's radius. Once the light faded away, he ran to gather the beasts that made his contingent by the loose straps of vine that were their make-shift leashes. === "Are you done?" She probably knew it already. With 6 manas at his mercy, the imager would surely be capable of doing anything to finish this once and for all. "No" He replied and pointed to the elf in the lead of his forces. === Red magical energy ran from the elf's closed palm and traced the thin line made of the woody vine that circled once around the lizard beast. With a quick pull of the reins the beast succumbed to the choking and became green energy that was soon absorbed by the now brighter set of reins. With a defiant look in his eyes, set at the woman and her banner, the elf swung the leathery vine over his head once, twice and in the third time, he released it like one would do with a sling. A red orb of energy bursted out of it and headed straight for the woman and her ever decaying flag. |
