Call me cute again...

The giant cogs of time had no effect on our spunky referee, it had been a long time since she used her powers but it didn’t stop her, like she would say it’s like riding a bike the only difference s that you’re doing it at in the stream of time.

There she stood observing the ring the second match had ended to fast for her taste, it was one of the weakness of her powers she lost the sense of time, hours became seconds, years into minutes or it would all gut jumble up. So when people question her sanity at times they do it unknowing of her past situation, yet she was going to have fun for today.

The ring was fix up, not even the smallest dent was left, two inch tick, four by four stones made the floor each weighting roughly fifteen pounds each. The tones where line up, ten by ten, forming a forty feet ring. Four spires that seem to graze the sky at thirty feet stood at each corner.

This simple structure that had already been used in last two matches was adorned whit multiple messages that where said by great minds over time, it was artistic yet useful, a warrior in his struggling moment could find inspiring words hidden in the structure, words that may fill him whit the fire to continue.

It was time for the third match, she cleared her throat and prepared to fire up the audience “Is the most awesome event ever!!!, four brave souls have entered the ring and gave it there all but where just starting, now give your full attention to how new contenders on one side we have the enigmatic man who lives by the blade, Samurai!!! On the other side the boy whit a sharp mind, Jarreth!!!! Lets see who’s sharper the blade or the mind, eh!!!!”

After preparing the crowd, she took a moment to look at the two fighters “Give it your all and have fun”

“BEGIN!!!” and whit that the match had started.

A sharp mind, interesting, was that what Jarreth would be remembered by? Interesting. However not detestable in the slightest. He had been gifted at birth with a high IQ and used this advantage to his fullest, to be recognised for his accomplishments was flattering. Now however was a time where his talents truly played against him, if it came to a one on one fight against his opponent, Jarreth had no doubt in his mind that he would surely lose. That was why he would have to play this match to his utmost fullest. Like a game of chess he would plan out his movements carefully, stay three moves in front of his opponent, and lure him into his trap.

The boy was dressed from head to toe in black, currently he was in the process of tying a final black bandage around his forearm and hand, completing his obviously carefully planned outfit. Simple layers of black material like that found on a divers wetsuit covered his entire body except that of his arms, which were fully displayed in full view for the first time since he had arrived at the school. Very surprisingly the boy was actually quite muscular, none would have guessed having seen him wearing his school uniform however his thin body was actually mostly made up mostly of muscle thinly wrapped around his bones. Even his four pack managed to show up from the tight black clothing he was wearing, in all it was a modest level of fitness, well beyond the average of some of the others in this tournament, however it still proved that he was far from a pushover. The suit he wore was a makeshift sneaking suit he had made himself, allowing Jarreth to move with much more ease than his normal clothes or school uniform, he needed every advantage in his favour in this fight and even if using this gave him a tiny fraction of a chance it would be one he would gladly take.

“BEGIN!!!”

In an instant Jarreth had moved to the attack, turning his direction straight towards the samurai at the other end of the ring he rushed towards him as fast as his legs could possibly take him. The boy was fast, incredibly fast, he kicked off of the ground with grace and ease making at least two strides worth of space in a single one of his own. First offensive technique, Jarreth’s ability was to conceal his presence which was no longer a factor in this match as his presence had been revealed the second he had entered the ring. His opponent, a samurai from what he had heard, was probably expecting him to stay back and stay on the defensive. The method of turning this situation around on itself, Jarreth would take the offensive, hopefully catching his opponent off guard long enough for him to enact his second offensive technique.

He would ignore the fact that he was only referred to by his blade, usually he would be gracious for such a compliment, but at this moment when being compared to a 'sharp' mind, it really seemed kind of an insult to his mentality. Anyway this wasn't really the time for any of that. He had no clue about his foe or any of his abilites or fighting style so he would have to be extra cautious...

Lets see his foe was raveled in black clothing... In day light. Not a 100% chance, but at least 62% chance of him being one of those who hid in the abyss of shadows and moved stealthfully through the day and reigned free during the night. That and the fact that the foe had been referred to as someone who was brilliant... This meant he was at a stratgetic advantage on the metal plain; which was the most vital plain to have control of in battle.

What was this guys name again? He knew it was something that began with 'j' Jack? Jason? Ja...Jarr....Jarreth?!? Jarreth! The stealth specialist of the school? Damn! He had already launched his attack. Luckily as of this point he had already garnered all the information he would need. He quickly drew his blade and smashed it into a peice of metal near-by. A large flash of light illuminated the battle field and he was gone.

It was only then that random chunks of debris from different areas of the field started to fly toward the stealthy one.

A flash of light and his opponent was gone and with it Jarreth’s chances of getting the first hit. It was at this instant that he knew he had to act quickly otherwise the shift of balance would be dramatically altered against him. Now Jarreth was caught in mid run in the centre of the ring, an incredibly venerable position to be in and one he planned to remain within for no longer. As he darted across the concrete surface underneath him however the sudden sight of an object flying towards him caught the boys attention followed very shortly by a second object at the other side of the ring. This was it, the assault following the deception of the flash of light, but with little time to act and think out his options this meant he would have to take the first course of action that came to him. The objects that were heading towards him weren’t metal and the possibility of blades were thrown out the window due to the lack of shimmering light from the direction these pieces of debris were coming from. So they were coming from several angles, this meant Jarreth would have to defend himself and quickly decide upon which one of these locations the Samurai was hiding in.

“Eight Counter Technique.” He muttered to himself, “Act.”

Kicking his left foot off of the floor sent Jarreth spinning through the air in a sudden unexpected barrel roll. Within an instant he stuck his hand outwards making a palm which he pointed towards the general direction of the debris that was heading towards him. The chunk of the ring curved through the air and slammed directly into his palm causing a sudden jolt of impact of travel down his arm, the pain of this however did not seem to bother Jarreth who’s ideology of the meaning of pain caused him to push the sensation deep back into the recesses of his complex mind. He had used his ability to attract objects through the magnetism of his skin to grab onto the chunks of concrete while he span around in the air. The spin continued until his palm faced the direction of the second piece of debris forcing it to connect with the first piece he had caught, this in turn forced him to spin around round even further however this time he released the second piece of concrete he had caught. Sending it right back to where the first had come from.

After spinning Jarreth landed on the floor, his arm swung around with the chunk of the ring still attached to his hand giving him the momentum to swing around even further and send this piece of concrete back where it had come from as well. By now his arm was starting to ache however he continued to catch chunks of the ring over and over again using his ability to attract matter and the momentum of the objects that were flying towards him, sending them back to where they came from. Finally there was only one final last piece of debris to throw back, by this time Jarreth’s arm was shaking due to the strain of the task put before him, even by using the momentum of the items to his advantage rather than throwing them on his own, it still took a large deal of effort to perform such a manoeuvre. He could feel his palm was bruised where he had caught so much at such great force. This however was the last of his offensive movements. Jarreth span around on the spot and hurled the chunk of concrete across the ring towards one of the locations it had come from before disappearing in the blink of an eye. Where he had gone? Jarreth was still kneeling down exactly where he had been previously, simply hidden through the use of his invisibility powers. Anyone who would have seen him disappear would have assumed he had gone to some secluded corner to hide, staying where he had complete view of the ring however would allow him perfect view of where his opponent was once he eventually revealed himself.
