She wasn't being cautious or coy. Wasn't trying to hurry home with the kill she stole or trying to conceal the fact that she stole it at all. After all, here she was in the middle of the forest, blatantly dragging a beautiful deer across every branch and twig she could spot. Honestly, though, the redhead was getting tired of playing these games. As the voices of Enji and Jen faded off into the distance, her speed decreased, head turning to allow her ears to pick up any sounds of anyone possibly following her. Nope. Not so far. A shame, she thought to herself. Bringing home a meal that she didn't even catch was an insult to her own pride. Dropping the weight of the deer on the forest floor, she sighed. So much for bringing out the hidden-- “I’ll be having my deer back now.” Echoed his voice through the trees. A smirk instantly appeared on her smooth face as she studied her surroundings slowly. He was still remaining hidden from her sight. However, she wasn't annoyed at all. Not in the least bit. In fact, she was rather amused by it all. Echoes. Oh how she loved how he hid from her while actually voicing himself, cloaking his position with...echoes. But the thing about echoes was, although it cloaked the exact location of the first sound, the first sound was always louder than the resounding copies. Crossing her arms lightly across her chest, she placed on of her boots on top of the deer's head, almost triumphantly. "Your deer? I would have figured that you'd have claimed it much earlier on if you cared so much about it," a chuckle escaped her, "Why don't you come out and play, hmmm? Why hide? I'm only...a girl." |

There was no reply, the fact that she was a girl didn’t alter Jarreth’s decision however he still needed a moment to consider his options. Currently he held the advantage, his ability to hide himself meant that he could continue to judge her options from a safe location and was not something he wanted to give up lightly. Students in this school were unpredictable, some took the smallest chance to start a fight and assuming her special abilities gave her an advantage in combat Jarreth knew he would be no match in a head on head fight. Now however was not the time for thought, now was the time for action. Activating his invisibility instantly Jarreth stepped out from behind the tree he was standing behind and slowly began walking calmly and gracefully across the forest floor. He kept his feet in-between the grass and leaves to prevent any sounds of footsteps and clear distinguishable sounds of crunching foliage. Once he reached another tree he stepped behind it so that he was now in a new location, here he deactivated his invisibility, flickering into sight in the blink of an eye. “Can’t take that risk.” Jarreth spoke out once again, his voice now echoing from a new location, “Students in this school are both unpredictable and violent.” From behind his hiding place the boy brought his hand upwards towards his face, brushing his long black hair out of his face and for an instant revealing his vibrantly purple eyes. His hair however fell back down in front of his face afterwards however, no matter how he moved it his hair seemed to just stay in the same position constantly. He was looking at something in the distance, illuminated by the brightness of the sun behind him, so that his shadow was concealed but also so that he could see the shadow of the girl he was hiding from. Something was moving, concerning Jarreth however it was not close enough yet to cause concern. “Also, you’re carrying a bleeding corpse across a forest filled with dangerous creatures.” He added, “If something does decide to take the deer from you other than me, I don’t want to be in the way.” |

The look on her face was very laid back and almost uncaring, but in actuality, she put most of her focus on the direction from which he first spoke, waiting for him to reply to her so that she could continue to narrow down the number of places he could be hiding. But, to her amusement and slight dismay, her ears pointed her in a new direction. Inhaling and exhaling a few times while scanning the forest with her emerald eyes, she grabbed the deer by the legs again as if she was ready to continue dragging it all the way to the den. "Very true. Unpredictable, violent, and probably very powerful. But, like I said, I'm just a girl. There's nothing special about me at all," The wind rustled through her red hair but she didn't bother fixing it at all. No need when it was bound to get messy anyway. For a moment or so, she held her breath, trying desperately to hear anything from him that would pinpoint his location. In vain, just as she thought. "Don't worry about me," she continued, "I'm not afraid of much. And if I happen to get hurt well..." trailing off for a second, she smiled, "I know a doctor who could help. Besides, I'm no pansy." Turning, she started to drag the deer again, continuing in the direction she had started off in. "And for your information...I'm not violent...unpredictable, maybe, but never violent." |

She still wasn’t letting go of the deer, some would call this situation frustrating however to Jarreth all this meant was that it would be more of a challenge. Adding to this, the more they left the deer untreated the longer it lingered out in the open, drawing the attention from every creature within a ten mile radius of the forest. Of course Jarreth could easily walk away and leave her to her mistake, but this would have meant his deer would be lost, making it another half a day till he find another one. Above all of that, it was his deer, he did not have to give it up just because some girl was holding onto it at the time. She wasn’t going to move another inch, he’d make sure of that. Suddenly Jarreth jumped upwards and placed his hands and legs backwards onto the tree behind him, using his ability to increase the magnetism within his skin in the process as well as his ability to become invisible to conceal himself from sight. Moving as quickly as possible while trying to make as little noise in the process. He crawled, like a lizard with his hands and legs behind his back, upwards towards the top of the tree. Eventually he came to rest upon the top of a branch that hung out over across the field, over the top of where the red headed girl was walking. This branch was an easy platform for Jarreth to crawl across in order to make it into the branches of the next tree along, now on the other side of the girl he got in a steady position. “Stop.” Jarreth ordered clearly, though his voice still did not retain any emotion making him seem somewhat unthreatening, “Place the deer on the floor and walk three steps backwards.” As he said this the boy lifted his arm mounted mini crossbow and pulled back the wire by gripping it firmly between his two fingers. He lifted a bolt out from the leather pack on belt and brought it across his face, slowly poking his tongue out of his mouth and licking across its metal surface to wet the metal rod. He then placed the bolt into the crossbow, fixing it in place and carefully aiming towards the girl and the deer underneath him. |

Rae's ears twitched as the soft sound of rustling filled her ears. Was he on the move again or was it the wind? She couldn't be sure and she didn't want to tip him off to either way. The redhead ignored the direction in which the sound came. He'd come out eventually, she told herself. Patience was a virtue. “Stop...Place the deer on the floor and walk three steps backwards.” Quirking an eyebrow, a visible frown rested upon her lips. Being told what to do wasn't something she liked in particular. Especially from someone she hadn't even seen the face of. Someone, from what she gathered, who was scared to even confront her about his kill. If it had been her kill, needless to say, she would have taken it back at all costs. "Three steps backwards?" A chuckle escaped her, "Stop, you say?" She bit her bottom lip, shaking her head in disappointment before gripping the deer tighter and taking three steps back. "Oops. You said put the deer down," Rae's voice exaggerated an apologetic tone, "Sorry...I don't follow directions well." |

No! She didn’t put the deer down! Now this was getting difficult, however this did not mean Jarreth would abandon his plan, simply alter it. He pointed the crossbow towards the girl and pulled the trigger sending a bolt hurtling towards her. Swiftly afterwards he jumped out of the tree he was hiding inside of and instantly halted his invisibility power upon himself, revealing his position to the girl standing beneath him. The bolt flew across the air towards where the girl was standing, hurtling through the air faster than the eye could see. It shot like a bullet past the girls head, narrowly missing her by inches. A split second later something huge and brown burst through the bushes only to be struck square in the back by the bolt Jarreth had fired. While this creature reared in pain from the sudden damage it had taken the boy landed on the forest floor, quickly placing a second bolt into the mini crossbow and pulling back the drawstring to lock it into position. The second shot had to hit, if it didn’t then the two would be in some serious trouble. The creature that had just come from the bushes was roaring fiercely and thrashing around with some serious power. It was a bear, or at least it looked like a bear. This creature looked like a prehistoric bear, with long yellow teeth that were elongated past its jaw and razor sharp. It eyes blood red, its claws huge and obsidian black. It looked as if it had crawled straight out of hell itself, and it did not look pleased about receiving a bolt to its muscular body. With a flick of his wrist the mini crossbow fired sending a second bolt towards his target, in almost slow motion he watched it fly across the forest towards the bear that was now thrashing wildly. It travelled past the girl holding the deer, heading straight towards the mutated bear’s head. And then, the bolt missed. It slammed into the side of a tree after the bear had thrashed completely out of the way. A sudden moment of mental blindness overcame Jarreth at this point, he had no idea what to do, something rare for him. The bear, finally overcoming the pain of being shot in the back, turned its attention towards the two, its eyes focusing with major attention toward the deer upon the red haired girls back. Its mouth salivating at the thought of food. “What do we do?” Jarreth asked, unable to come up with an option for them, “What do we do?” |

... Oh great, Rae thought to herself, releasing the deer before taking a few slow steps backward. This was exactly what she wanted in her day...a big angry beer that looked like it stepped right out of Fallout 3. She only had one dagger...and she doubted the dagger's ability to bring down anything larger than a human being. "I'll tell you what to do," She murmured to Jarreth, making sure to stay as still as possible as the beast before them focused on her and the prize she stole, "...climb a fucking tree..." With that, she sprinted towards a tree, quickly scurrying upwards branch by branch. A roar from the bear boomed through the forest, shaking the trees and the ground. Growling, it stormed towards her tree, glaring up at her and foaming. She growled back down at him, menacingly glaring in return but internally praying to herself that she didn't change. Changing would be bad...for the bear and for Jarreth. And putting another person's life in danger was something Pops frowned upon. Breaking a branch, she threw it at the beast's head and yelled at it to go away. Obviously, it only made it madder as it shook the tree, gripping the trunk with its arms. For some reason, Rae lost some of her grip and hung from a branch with only her arms holding her up. Mentally, she cursed, trying to find the trunk of the tree with her legs again to pull herself back up. "THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED IF YOU WOULD HAVE STOPPED PLAYING GAMES AND SHOWED YOURSELF TO BEGIN WITH, YOU PANSY!" Rae shouted at Jarreth as she held on tightly while the bear continued to shake her. |
