Danielle walked into the cafe and went to one of the empty tables to drop the backpack she had slung over one shoulder. She then walked over to the counter, looking up at the man behind it and ordering her drink. She held it gingerly, careful not to get any of it spilled and sighed in relief when she finally got it safely on the table. Sitting down, Danielle rubbed her thigh, finding herself bothered today by her metal leg. She blew on her drink and took a few careful sips, as she took out the contents of her bag one by one and laid them out in front of her. There was a small book, a pack of playing cards and two sets of gaming dice. She also took out a pad of paper and some pencils. She nodded in satisfaction when she saw that everything was there and settled down to drink her coffee and wait for her players. |

He did not know Dani as more than that girl who sits right next to him in class. However, she'd been going on about this for the past week, and even bugged him about joining. He came here for a few reasons. The first, was that he was curios..he had never heard of roleplaying before. The second was because he was a kind hearted fool, but told himself that if anyone questioned about his 'preferences' he wouldn't play another game with them The third, he knew by experience of ehr personality, that if her were to miss this game, she would NOT be happy, and probably let him know that too. So, the 6'0" boy teen who wore pink shirts and with eyes of pink entered the cafe. right away he spotted Dani and nodded to her, then went to get his own drink. Afterwards, he slipped in underneath his chair and then looked to the girl who was a full foot shorter than himself, but he was used to short people. "So, how does this roleplaying thing work?" |

Ines adjusted her black shades as she made her way within the cafe. Her usual attire was concealed within a large overcoat. This way, anyone who knew her wouldn't recognize her. She scanned over the room until she came across two familiar faces. With a soft sigh, she began her approach. Roleplaying? What rebel did that? She should be occupying her time by mocking society in some way. But when her eye fell upon Dani, she gave an inward shrug. Well, she supposed she could help her out just this once. Taking her seat, Ines looked between the two expectantly. "So, how are we doing this?" |

"We're still waiting for some people," she said. "But I could start the first steps now." She put the deck of playing cards forward. "First I need someone to shuffle and deal me four cards. It don't show me them yet." She then took out the book and opened it. "Hmm...and one of you need to choose an oracle. It's to decide what the overall theme of our game will be like," she continued. "The choices are Blood and Sex, God-kings of War, the Unquiet Past, or a Nest of Vipers. Just pick one." |

"We're still waiting for some people, But I could start the first steps now. First I need someone to shuffle and deal me four cards. It don't show me them yet." As she placed the deck of cards forward, Shasta plucked it up and absentmindedly began to shuffle as he listened to the rest it. He was aware that they must wait for everybody to show up, but it seemed like there was nothing against getting things all set up beforehand. "Hmm...and one of you need to choose an oracle. It's to decide what the overall theme of our game will be like, The choices are Blood and Sex, God-kings of War, the Unquiet Past, or a Nest of Vipers. Just pick one." What odd catagories.. His attention then turned to the other girl. "I'm sorry.." he said, for taking the deck of cards first. "Would you like to deal or choose the oracle?" |

Por que queda tan lejos? Why is it so far? That was what Regi thought to himself while walking to the cafe located on the opposing side of the campus. Walking was not his favorite thing, even more after the incident at Shibuya from a couple of days before. Yet he had heard that some gamers were used to gather at such place. The imager wore his casual wear, for once, tho even him could tell he stood out much more in the school uniform than in them. A backpack hung from a singe strap from his left shoulder, containing most likely anything he'd need for the meeting and probably a couple more of things. After getting into the Blue Leaves, the boy headed straight for the counter to get something cool. Maybe it was his idea, maybe not, but the day seemed really hot today. It could be all those hours of indoor gaming that gave him that impression, tho. With the straw in his mouth, he began panning around the room. It was large, yet not very crowded so it was easy spotting any gamming tables around. And there they were. A deck of gamming cards in someone's hands... someone in pink... a guy in pink. Well, he had seen them worst, and this was the very he had come to the place in first place, right? So might as well get used to it. "Hello. What-" Reginaldo's voice was low and shy. "-you playing?" It became even more low as he noticed two girls sitting in front of each other beside the guy he had first spotted. He tried hiding it by taking another sip from his iced tea. None of them seemed familiar to him, not even Daniel who he had dueled at the cafeteria not long ago. Thanks to his late entry, he had missed the introduction, but yet he took a look at the book on the table and a quick glance thru the shufflings cards. It was some sort of tabletop roleplay, apparently. |

"Oh someone just choose already and deal," she said. "It's important but it's not that important that you have to cast lots for it." She was flipping the book, bringing it to another section, as she tried to get them moving along. Then Regi came. "Oh hey," she said. Unlike Regi, Dani had a better memory. "We're setting up for a game of In a Wicked Age. Relatively short game--an hour or two of gameplay more or less and easy to learn. I can still handle another player." |

"Oh someone just choose already and deal. It's important but it's not that important that you have to cast lots for it." That had brushed him wrong a little but he shrugged it off and delt the first four cards, face down, to dani, since he had already shuffled it. The another player came over. "hello' he greeted somewhat cheerfully, though underneath he was still ready for someone to comment on his sexual preferences.. Edited by kaori, Apr 6 2009, 07:07 PM.

(Blue Leaves was a place that Elisa didn't go to often, because she preferred to get drunk over getting coffee. Of course, coffee could contain milk, so it was starting to sound like effectively having spiked punch while you play a game. Why was she playing a game? Because just before one of her classes, she had slumped into her seat with her head thumping the desk, declaring to no one in particular that she was bored. It was hard to keep Elisa amused for long on things, so she needed her attention grabbed every now and then or else she'd be in a slump and willing to beat the everloving HELL out of someone just to keep herself occupied. That being said, it was Dani who had spoken up, offering to teach her a game, a roleplaying game. That had gotten enough of her interest, so she figured "Why not?", and here she was...buying coffee. Not exactly in a lively mood yet, the girl's cat ears were tilted forward slightly as she came to the table, placing her drink down at an empty seat.) Elisa: So... (And she looked at all the people here, followed by the cards.) Elisa: I overheard you talking, and...one of us chooses a card? In that case, lemme choose... Hmmm... I'm thinking either An Unquiet Past or Nest Of Vipers. Well, I'm an oracle, right? Let's leave it to fate, then. (Closing her eyes, Elisa plunked her finger down on one of the cards at random. Well, it was actually out of the two she wanted to look into. In any case...Nest Of Vipers.) Elisa: Now what? Edited by Lord Massacre, Apr 7 2009, 10:40 AM.

The cards had been dealt and an oracle chosen. Everyone she had invited and one extra had come so all that was left was to play. "Nest of Vipers it is," she chirped pleasantly. She revealed the first clubs. "The Nine of Clubs," she declared, as she thumbed through her book to cross-reference it with a table. She pushed a pencil and the pad forward. "Someone write this down, as I speak, please," she instructed. "A moongazer possessed by ten rival spirits." She waited until it had been scribbled down before continuing with the next card. "The Three of Hearts. An Imbiber of sorcerous drugs, seeking congress with demons. The Six of Hearts," she continued on. "A tower of silver and alabaster, which rises from the sea under the new moon." She flipped open the last card. "Finally we have the Queen of Spades," she consulted the book. "A conjurer possessed by spirits of uncivil character. Well...this is interesting..." "Now our next step. From that set of lines, we list down all characters that are obvious and implied. And you claim one that you'll choose to play and I'll claim the rest as non-player characters. The name and personality will be up to you and you'll assign stats to them that will reflect this as well as show how capable they are when performing their tasks." She opened one of her pack of dice and removed the twenty sided dice. "The six stats are Covertly, Directly, For Myself, For Others, With Love and With Violence," she said, scribbling it down so the players could see. "You'll assign one dice value to each stat from this list: a d12, d10, d8, 2d6 and a d4. The more sides the dice have, the better the chance of an action proceeding and all actions utilize two different forms. Attacking for example will be accomplished by using Directly and With Violence. When this is done, choose a particular skill they're good at. It can be a spell or an action--we'll get to the details later but they'll confer a dice bonus if they see use." She opened the book to show them an example of what the character sheet should look like. Bolu Ta, the exorcist, severe but lustful Covertly d6 Directly d12 For myself d10 For others d8 With love d4 With violence d6 Particular strength: exorcism No best interests yet. Forced to be sitting shoulder to shoulder with Dani, the imager had already gone thru half his drink out of trying to focus on something else other than his burning ears. This was when someone else, some sort of catgirl to top it all, sat as the fifth member on their rectangular table. Reginaldo pushed his glasses up his nose and, not being one to voice his vote on things, awaited for the rest to complete the preparations for the game. Once the DM asked for someone to take notes on things, he took the notebook and began at the task. Anything in order to avoid focusing on his embarrassment would do. After the short intro to the carded chars was done, he pondered a bit on what to choose. A sly smirk appeared on his face, odd for him to be honest. But he just couldn't help it since the name for the example player was pretty much like a cuzz word from his native language. After a bit of doodling about on another page, he brought about a piece of paper containing the following. Coloco, mindless rogue Covertly d12 Directly d8 For myself d6 For others d4 With love d6 With violence d10 Particular strength: hypnosis No best interests yet. |

(Okay, now it was getting to be a bit more complicated to her. Apparently, there were rules involving certain playing cards that more or less randomly determined the basic forms of the characters...or something like that. It all seemed a bit vague to Elisa now, and that bothered her a little. The things that Dani described were...odd, and she had to play the ideas over in her head a little to work them out. From there, the outline of how to generate your character continued and...Elisa finally got an inspiration.) Elisa: Very well, I'll play the 'conjurer possessed by spirits of uncivil character' for someone my dad mentioned once. I know what I'm doing now. Heh heh heh... (She began to write up what she needed on a sheet of paper, grinning the whole time as she even began to doodle what looked like an evil warlock of some rather dark and ominous clothing. Sort of an over-the-top darkness, you could say. She then worked on the dicey stuff, and voila'!) Elisa: If there's anything wrong with it, speak now. This IS my first time. (The character went as follows...) Garlock The Destroyer, Evil Warlock, Spiteful and Prone to Fits of Meglomania. Covertly - 1D6 Directly - 1D10 For Myself - 1D8 For Others - 1D6 With Love - 1D4 With Violence - 1D12 Particular Strength - Destructive Forces Special Interests - Varied OOC: Small post because...I got nothing else at the moment. Shasta waited to see the example on paper, and what the others came up with to get his own ideas up and around..he tried many combinations and wound up with his own fun sort of character. When it was his turn, her sketched out a pretty laid back looking priest sitting on a rock, the bible on his lap, and a join, he had curly hair loosley held back in a ponytail. Bud, the traveling priest, generally laid back and a marijuana addict Covertly 1d8 Directly 1d12 For myself 1d4 For others 1d10 With love 1d6 With violence 1d6 Particular strength: exorcism No best interests yet. He cleared his throat a little., "if you don't mind the religious reference and the fun behind it. I could change it if I need to" Edited by kaori, Apr 14 2009, 04:39 PM.

ooc: >_>;; I am of the school that large posts are not necessarily necessary. So no worries. Danielle watched as her players began to scribble down their character sheets. "Show me when you're done," she said. She peered over Regi's shoulders. "Wait, so which are you in the list?" she asked. The others had already declared, which of the characters they intended to take. She then turned her attention to Elisa's work and a wide grin spread on her face. She liked where this was going. "It's good but the particular strengths is something more specific. A special ability your character knows," she said. "It could for example include the capability to conjure fireballs and such." She raised her head to Shasta. "Religious references are okay with me personally. Although you may want to make up your own religion to make things more amusing. This is a fantasy game so the more outrageous the better." |

"It's good but the particular strengths is something more specific. A special ability your character knows." Elisa: Eh? "It could for example include the capability to conjure fireballs and such." Elisa: Oh, I getcha. Heh, you're not too far off, actually. We'll call his particular specialty... (She worked the eraser on the pencil and started working on it again. Afterwords, it was a bit different.) Garlock The Destroyer, Evil Warlock, Spiteful and Prone to Fits of Meglomania. Covertly - 1D6 Directly - 1D10 For Myself - 1D8 For Others - 1D6 With Love - 1D4 With Violence - 1D12 Particular Strength - Pyrokinesis Special Interests - Varied Elisa: There you go. I wasn't sure if I wanted fire or darkness, so I flipped a mental coin and there it is. He'll be able to blow up stuff and set them on fire...maybe not in that order. (You can try to take the evil out of this girl, but it wasn't easy. No, not at all... Also, there was apparently a picture already...) Edited by Lord Massacre, Apr 14 2009, 01:27 PM.

As Elisa placed her doodle on the table to show it to the rest, there was a little static-like noise in the air just above the paper. It didn't last more than a couple of seconds, but as it faded out a figure robed in black colors faded in. The little wizard wore a metallic green light armor over its body and a hood that only let out the shine from his blood red eyes. It scanned the rest of the, for now empty table and then struck the same pose as that of the moonian's drawing original figure. It emitted no sound, but it was surely cackling... or something very much like it. With his eyes set in his little creation, the imager voiced it all for the four other people to hear it out. "Hope you don't mind." In Reginaldian, the youth was asking permission to add a little graphics to the tabletop role-playing, despite he had already gone thru with it. Taking out a gamezine from his pack, the boy shuffled the pages and, after a quick glance at the book on his left hand and a similar effect to that of the first image, another little avatar appeared in the middle of the table. Its clothes and overall appearance were similar to that of the wizard not far from it, if not for the little spiritual orbs floating around its frame. Ten in total, the spirits didn't stop circling about their host. Regi's hand offered the zine for the rest to pick a drawing, picture or anything they needed him to create. === OOC: You create them on your own, and can move them to your liking. All Regi does is to make it possible for them to be there. Edited by katzkat1083, Apr 23 2009, 04:09 PM.

"Okay," she said, as she looked around. "Now we get to the interesting part of character creation. First your abilities. Your abilities, as I've already said, are particular strengths. They are pretty much anything goes within reason. Now the first thing you have to do is think up an ability. For those who already have one, you have to choose two stats that are used whenever you use the ability. You're character's pyrokinesis for example," and she turned to Elisa. "Would use directly and with violence. Of course, the stats will have to be justifiable." She opened the book for them to see again. "When you're done, you have to choose one attribute for your ability from the list. Here...look..." It’s potent. Its die is a d10. If you don’t choose this option, its die is a d8. It’s broad. Add a second set of stats: if your character acts in either way, she can use the strength. It’s consequential. List a form of your choice, and an NPC form of your choice. When your character uses the strength, she’s threatening her enemy in that form, above and beyond. It’s unique. If the strength is written on one character’s sheet, it can’t be written on any other. It’s far-reaching. Your character can use the strength to act beyond her normal human reach. "If you need any explanation just ask me." ((Also quick recap: which characters did you choose on the list. I need to know so I can prepare the NPCs)) |

(It was made easier to understand once Dani started using her own profile as an example. Actually, it wasn't too hard to figure out that something like the ability to control fire was directly violent. That's sort of why Elisa managed her character that way. For a moment, though, the attributes had her lost until she started to outline things. It seemed that special attributes were like special perks or effects that were bound to the characters themselves. Alright...) Elisa: If you're looking for justification, I can tell you that a madman doesn't have too hard a task coming up with reasons to make things explode. I'll go with him being potent, though. Keeps it simple, and fun. (That's another thing that was apparently overlooked here. Elisa's character was a guy. Garlock The Destroyer was sort of her answer to Looking For Group's famous character, Richard. At least, that's what she'd allow you to think...) |

Testing his powers at moving two distinct avatars differently at the same time, the boy kept his eyes on them both. It was good how much freedom he could grant to these things, unlike on his MtG games where he could mostly send them all to one point at the same time. "If you need any explanation just ask me." "I'm fine." He really didn't need any real help with this game, so maybe the DM should try focusing on the other two who seemed to be somewhat troubled and silent with the inner workings of the game. Since his own avatar was a hypnotist, the two stats for his strength were covertly and violent. And for the attribute, the black robed creation extended one of his arms and following the path it pointed, one of the 10 spirits around it shoot out, directed to the fire mage. It was a far-reaching skill. |
