(( Wow, how girly is that topic title? ))

It was extremely weird, the feeling of being nervous. It had been a very long time since Sadie had felt such nerves in her stomach. They were fluttering so hard she felt as though birds were trying to escape-that’s stupid…she reminded herself with a sigh. Staring through the trees she wondered what would await her inside. With her luck they’d all be home, eating or lounging or just…just…

Turning her back on the house she growled low in her breath. The truth was she missed them a lot, it wasn’t like she meant to just leave without saying anything or leaving a note, it just happened. A walk turned into a jog, then into a run until finally she was sitting outside her parent’s house peering creepily through the windows at her baby brother. They’d promised her she could keep contact with him and they went back on their word. Every time she called they recognized her voice and hung up. How could they do that? Wasn’t she still their kin? Even if she did turn into a monster, how was it her fault?

Clenching her fist at her side she shook her head. No, no it was not her fault and there were over a dozen people in the house behind her who knew that and were like her. They accepted her enough to let her into their home and call her one of their pack members. They cared more then her parents ever would and she loved them for it. Yeah, she loved them. It was an odd thought for her to have but hey, there’s a first time for everything right?

Shoving her last lollipop into her mouth she took a deep breath and quietly entered the backyard. Sadie couldn’t wait to get her canvas back out and start painting again, she had a lot to get out and painting was the fastest and easiest way to do that. Opening the door she held her breath and walked quietly inside. Sadie hoped they’d all be asleep but it was the middle of the afternoon so she didn’t think she’d have much luck there. Finding the hallway empty she stepped into the living room.

“I’m home.”

No sooner had the words left her mouth, than was a hand placed on her shoulder. “Funny how people keep checking in and out like this is some kinda hotel,” said Gabe. Tossing a pack of cigarettes onto the counter top, Gabe crossed over to the kitchen and hopped up onto the counter, sitting there with his legs dangling over the edge. “You're not getting your kitchen back without a fight, woman.”

Picking up the pack of cigarettes with his right hand and smacking them loudly against the flat of his left palm, Gabe pulled one of the little cancer sticks out and popped it between his lips. “It's nice to see you though.”

Out in the front yard Mercy was having a nice conversation with the delivery man and signing for her packages. Easter gifts from home were always welcomed, even if she was too old for the whole bunny routine. Mmm…rabbit would hit the spot right about now. As she waved goodbye Mercy chuckled, wondering how she would convince Gabe to cook a bit of wild game for dinner. Shouldn’t be too hard.

Entering the house she was going over the labels, pleased to see her father’s name on the first two and then… ugh why did -he- have to send something? It wasn’t a secret that Mercy was less than enthused by her current situation. She could do well without a big shiny ring to wear on her left hand… which was kept away in her jewelry box most of the time. None of this was truly important right now anyway. Not when she caught sight of a familiar head of hair mid eye roll.

“Sadie?” As if she couldn’t smell the woman standing only feet from her. Blinking back her disbelief she straightened her posture, looking more like herself again. “Welcome back. It’s nice to… what the-“ The smell of tobacco interrupted her potentially heartfelt greeting. Blue eyes darting towards the culprit in the kitchen she growled. “Gabe do you have to do that in the house?”

Shaleen wondered into the kitchen and sneezed at the smoke. She felt like crap and her back hurt...she hadn't been to work or school in the last three days due to a fever. Rog was fussing over her as usual and she could understand why, sicknesses and babies aren't so good together. She made a bee line for the fridge and frowned and she looked for something that wouldn't come right back up. "MMM orange juice." she muttered bending to get it.

She straightened and looked at Gabe...and Sadie. She grinned and hugged the girl awkwardly due to the baby bump. She looked at Gabe. "Does this mean we got a new set o' kitchin wars?" she asked.

"I hope not, first one to start up gets my arm through their gut, and the other one gets three legs in their chest," the pack Skoll commented, walking down the staircase with his bookbag. He was going to get some homework done, but he had sniffed Sadie from upstairs.

"Welcome back Sadie, as if everyone else hadn't told you," he commented, smiling and tossing his bag onto the couch. He hopped over the counter and into the kitchen, rolling to his feet and stopping just before he hit the dishwasher.

"You really should lie down Hush," Rog said to his mate as he hugged her from behind and kissed her on the cheek. "you don't want to wear yourself or the baby down." Working quickly while she had the door open, he pulled out an orange and a banana from the fridge. He tossed the orange behind him, kicking it deftly so that it landed right next to his bag. He then nipped at Shaleen's ear before taking a running dive onto the couch, bouncing the orange up and catching it.

Sadie wasn’t sure exactly what she’d been expecting upon her return, but everything seemed to be exactly the way she’d left it. Well, not that… she amended as Shaleen pulled her into a hug; after all, the women’s stomach wasn’t exactly conspicuous. It was surprising to see her so pregnant, then again she could smell Rog all over her so it wasn’t that surprising. Sadie was curious to see how the house would react to having a bunch of little kids running around at all hours of the day and night. At the very least they’d need to start watching their mouths a little more.

“Thanks and congratulations…” she pointed at her own stomach to indicate exactly what she meant. “If I pin him as fast as I did last time then it won’t be much of a war, when are you due?” leaning against the counter she turned and nodded to Mercy, “Thanks, how are you?”

It was nice to see most of them home and happy to see her. It wasn’t like she expected to see all of her things out on the side of the road or anything like that; but it was always nice to have someone happy to see you, especially after what she had just been through with her so-called family. They were a joke compared to her pack.
