Okay, there was something seriously wrong with this place. Not only did it have dorms, a gigantic cafeteria, classrooms big enough to fly in, and a graveyard, it also had a meadow, an arena, and an entire forest. And now a mountain? This place had severe issues. That wasn’t to say that she disliked it; quite the contrary. She loved the fact that it was big, and she liked the forest and the mountain, so far that is. She also liked the graveyard. It was quiet and peaceful. She’d visited it several times already, earning her reputation as resident oddball. Most people stayed away from death.

Mercy actually quite liked what she had seen so far of Dragoon Mountain. Naturally an outdoorsy type, she’d taken the liberty to hike up the mountain. She’d heard of the beauty of the mountain and of the natural lake and waterfall it possessed. It was even more beautiful than she had imagined. It was also a lot quieter. From everything she knew about waterfalls, she had deduced they were supposed to be loud. Maybe there was a spell on it, or perhaps a water spirit lived there and didn’t like the noise. Whatever the reason, it was more of a slight splashing sound than the dull rumble-roar she had been expecting.

Moving closer to the lake, Mercy took off the small backpack she had swung on her shoulders. Once at the lake’s edge she sat, placing the backpack on the grass next to her. It was surprisingly springy and lush, despite the altitude. The necromancer unzipped her backpack and withdrew from the cloth a very ordinary water bottle. Sipping at the liquid, Mercy looked out at the lake and the waterfall, taking in all her surroundings. Placing the bottle on the grass after screwing the lid tight, she took out a sketchpad and a pencil box. She was going to sketch the lake. The bottle lay on its side, cushioned by the green mossy grass.

Flipping to a fresh page in her sketchbook, Mercy set a charcoal pencil lightly on the paper. It would do no good to press down heavily and mess up the picture. With swift, even strokes, Mercy began to lay the landscape down on the creamy white paper. Her eyes flickered from paper to landscape to pencil and back again.

Looking at the map he had of the school grounds, Chris made his made toward what may be one of the more interesting places of the school. The waterfall near the mountain, or what looked like a mountian on the map. Someone needed better drawing skills at making maps.

Grabbing his backpack and putting it on, and making sure it was secure, Chris hold his sword firmly in his left hand and started his walk to the mountainous area. Making it to the foot of the mountain place very quickly, Chris looked around for a starting place to began his mini adventure. To his left, he found a small path that looked like it had been recently walked on. He noticed small girl like footprints and decided it was maybe the safest to follow the path as this person had.

He had a bit of trouble navigating through the trees, but he happened to come up on the waterfall and the small lake it created. Knowing this was a good place to rest and regain his composure, Chris walked up to and sat at the edge of the small lake and slipped off his shoes and let his legs soak. Leaning back and look at the beauty of the waterfall, Chris turned to head to his right and noticed a Girl, close to his age, about 30 yards away, Busy writing or drawing. "Hey there!" Chris waved to her and smiled brightly, He figured this was a good time to actually have a friend here. He got up and started walking toward the girl with all his things with him. He took off his sunglasses and put them away. He laid his light amber eyes on her, as he extended his hand waiting to shake hers.

Engrossed in her project, smiling to herself in satisfaction and soaking up the bright sunlight, Mercy hadn't heard the heavy footfalls of another person coming by the lake. She'd disregarded the splashing she'd heard as more waterfall spray, not the presence of another person putting their feet in the water. So the rather loud call had, to put it mildly, startled her. The charcoal pencil in her hand jumped as she did, sliding across the paper. Dismayed, Mercy stared at the ruined artwork. It might not have been that good, but now it had a giant thick line in the middle of it, crossing it through. There was nothing she'd be able to do about that blemish, though she'd been able to fix or at least cover up some of her earilier mistakes with the charcoal.

"Shoot!" she muttered, totally unaware of the person holding out his hand for her to shake. With unintelligible muttering about pencils, easers, paper, and water, Mercy shut the sketchbook and tossed it aside, the pencil soon following. The pad of paper landed in the grass. The pencil, however, was not so lucky. It bounced off the cover of the sketchbook and skittered into the water.

With a sigh, Mercy stood to go get her book and try to fish the pencil out of the lake, pushing her black braid over her shoulder so that it lay flat between her shoulderblades. When she turned to pick it up, she noticed the boy. About her age, maybe a little younger, he held his hand out to her. This was, no doubt, the culprit that had surprised her and ruined her drawing. She looked at the hand, and then shook her head.

"Who're you?" she wanted to know, voice one of resignation. It looked like her pencil was gone for good anyway, and it wasn't like her drawing had been that good to begin with. She didn't shake the boy's hand. It wasn't something that she did, and she wasn't about to start now. Her natually cooler body temperature had a habit of freaking people out.

"Who're you?"

Chris pulled his hand back and felt like he had been given the cold shoulder. "I'm Chris." He said and smiled, after placing his things on the ground near his feet, he put his hands into his pockets and fiddled around for something.

"Sorry about that" He said to her while referring to her losing her pencil in the nearby water. "Here you go" He spoke while pulling a fresh unsharpened pencil from his pocket and holding it out toward her. "Im sorry about startling you, but I didnt know of any other way to get your attention, other than a direct approach" His eyes looked the girl over, trying to apologize with his eyes as well and his words.
